  1. After a series of flops and mediocre successes, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri changed the course of his career with the 2017 film The Tashkent Files that turned out to be a sleeper hit. And with his latest release, The Kashmir Files, the filmmaker delivered not just the biggest blockbuster of his career but one of the biggest hits in the Hindi film industry as well. The film starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi and Darshan Kumar has collected over Rs 230 crore at the box office, so far, and continues to perform well even in its third week. © Zee Studios Vivek, who is basking in the success of the film, recently revealed in an interview a lesser-known aspect of his life. He talked about his equation with star Varun Dhawan and went on to praise the young actor. The director opened up about the time when Varun helped him in a big way when nobody did and added that he owes a lot to the Badlapur star. Vivek told Siddharth Kannan, “I love Varun. I owe a lot to Varun. And I don’t want to speak on camera, it’s between me and him. He helped me at a time when nobody in this world was helping me, and quietly. He is a great soul. I wish he, I don’t know about stardom and all, I wish he always remains happy and very successful. He is a great boy, I love him. I am not saying this because I want to do a film with him. My eyes are also getting moist, because he had helped me at a time when I couldn’t have expected at all that a person like him would help me.” © Instagram/Varun Dhawan Watch the video below: A few days back, Varun Dhawan took to Instagram stories and praised The Kashmir Files. He wrote, “One of the most hard-hitting films ever made with incredible performances. Every technician has excelled. Anupam Kher deserves all the awards. @DarshanKumaar #pallavijoshi, #mithun sir and the director @vivekagnihotri”. This isn’t all, Darshan Kumar also revealed in an interview with Siddharth Kannan that Varun had even contacted him post watching the film. He said, “Varun Dhawan contacted me. He loved my performance.” View the full article

  4. Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan is one superstar who has managed to stay away from major controversies around any rumoured affairs (barring the PC controversy) in his life. The actor is a prime example of how hard work pays off and can literally take you everywhere. The good Samaritans on Reddit managed to dig up an old interview where he spoke about why he suddenly stopped working with his co-stars like Juhi and Kajol, and how no one would find out 'if he ever had an affair', because he was too smart to be caught. © Instagram © Instagram In the interview, he mentioned that Kajol was like his younger sister and he stopped signing projects with Juhi Chawla after the gossip mill around them having an affair started working overtime. He mentioned that he’d do the same thing again and will stop working with Kajol as well if this continued. This is the snippet that was dug out. © Reddit The discussion board had mixed reviews around this statement. While some thought he was quite witty and smart in replies, others just found this statement hilarious. © Reddit © Reddit Well, say what you will, King Khan has style, even when it comes to answering nerve-racking personal questions! 5. Day 4 of the second Test between India and England at Lord’s quickly became controversial after two of the cricketers from the hosting side were caught on camera doing something extremely dodgy which many consider to be a clear case of ball tampering. In the 35th over of India’s second innings of the match, which was being bowled by pacer Ollie Robinson, two of the English fielders could be seen kicking and stepping on the match ball with their spike shoes because picking it up and throwing it back to the bowler. What’s is this Ball Tampering Umpires and Refree Sleeping ?#IndvsEng #Balltempering @sachin_rt @cricketaakash @WasimJaffer14 @YUVSTRONG12 @imVkohli @BCCI @ICC @ECB_cricket pic.twitter.com/owOwOlkfiX — Prashant Rathore (@HonestPrashant) August 15, 2021 The video which was captured by the cameraman at the prestigious cricket ground shows one of the fielders directing the ball towards his teammate with his foot as the other stepped on it with sharp spikes at the bottom of his shoes. And while the viewers who were watching the unimaginable unfold right in front of their eyes were convinced that whatever was happening wasn’t right, England bowler Stuart Broad was continuously backing up his teammates while giving multiple explanations for the occurrence. My comments are- Woody tried to nut meg Burnsy by tapping the ball through his legs (a very common occurrence) & he missed and kicked the ball there by accident. Instead of screenshotting the pic, watch the video- quite plain & easy to see — Stuart Broad (@StuartBroad8) August 15, 2021 “My comments are- Woody tried to nut meg Burnsy by tapping the ball through his legs (a very common occurrence) & he missed and kicked the ball there by accident. Instead of screenshotting the pic, watch the video- quite plain & easy to see,” Broad wrote in a Twitter response to a fan who was watching the match and had asked the English cricketer for his comments. Depends If it was damaged? Exactly the same if it was hit into the stands. If it didn’t make a mark, why change it ? — Stuart Broad (@StuartBroad8) August 15, 2021 “Depends If it was damaged? Exactly the same if it was hit into the stands. If it didn’t make a mark, why change it ?” Broad replied to another who had raised a valid point about the match referees and the umpires failing to step in and take control of the situation and probably replace it with an untampered ball, even if it was unintentional. Nonetheless, Broad’s justification for what had happened failed to reassure the fans of the Men in Blue who very openly expressed their dissent online: So that's how you try to pass the ball by pressing the spike against it!! 6. The character played by Ranbir Kapoor in the movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is every other guy living in the country who wants to fulfill his dreams and also wants to explore the world. Men have taken its iconic dialogue quite literally –“Main udna chahta hoon, daudna chahta hoon, girna bhi chahta hoon ... bus rukna nahi chahta”. So, while we enjoyed watching the movie that made us want to go on a road trip, Bunny’s character in the film showcased many red flags that we ignored. So, here we go- Commitment Phobic Bunny’s character in the film is also commitment-phobic and he doesn’t want to tell Naina but when meets her again, he tries to treat her as his girlfriend without having the right to do so. Kept Intruding Naina’s Personal Space He kept calling Naina ‘chasmish’ and also kept intruding her personal space. He also stole her phone to check who she was talking to and that’s extremely weird and problematic. Compares Women To Food He compares women to food and other things. That’s another way of objectifying women. Remember his dialogue- “Shaadi is daal chawal for pachaas saal till you die. Arey life mein thoda bahut kheema pav, tangdi kebab, hakka noodles bhi hona chahiye na!” Typical F**kboi Traits Remember that song 'Dilli wali girlfriend'? That song is just another f**kboi admitting that he cheated on his girlfriend with someone else. So, we shouldn’t be promoting these songs. View the full article
  7. Zoya Akhtar's ZNMD is one of those movies that we can still watch over and over again at any random point in the day and we’d feel like taking a road trip. This film can never get old. Apart from giving us some major friendship goals, this movie also gave us some major life lessons that we can't forget. The film was promoted and viewed as a road movie where a bunch of friends celebrate and have fun on a friend’s bachelor’s trip. However, if someone watched the film properly, the film was not only about a road trip but also about complex relationships. It focused on toxic relationships and when we talk about toxic, Natasha (Kalki Koechlin) was one of them. So, here are 4 red flags that nobody noticed in Natasha. Assumed That Kabir Proposed Her On a table full of family and friends, Kabir showed Natasha, his long-term girlfriend, a ring and she assumed that it was for her. She didn’t even wait for him to say anything and announced the news herself. That was quite a show! Crashed Fiance’s Bachelor’s Party There is only one rule at any bachelor's party and that is that your significant other shouldn’t be there. But, Natasha expected Kabir to be thrilled when she crashed his bachelor trip. That’s a little weird, no? She Had Major Trust Issues She crashed her fiance’s bachelor trip after she thought he saw him with Leila (Katrina Kaif) and got extremely suspicious. He was just talking to her while Natasha was still on video call. Now, this is being insecure and they were engaged by that time. So, that’s some major trust issues that can easily break a relationship. She Didn’t Understand The Concept Of Space While Kabir and his friends are dropping her off at the airport, she hints at him saying that he won’t be going on any all-boys trip after his wedding. Isn’t that suffocating? Later, Kabir breaks the engagement with her. Good for him! View the full article
  8. Internet Explorer is finally going to meet its demise after 25 long years because nobody really liked to use it in the first place. The company announced this week that it will end support of the browser on June 15th 2022. © Reuters Microsoft’s final nail in the coffin comes after it started to promote other products like the Edge browser and removing features from the ancient internet browser. The company gradually removed features from the explorers and even removed support from its other products like ‘Teams’. Other apps like Microsoft 365 will also no longer work with IE from this year. The Internet Explorer was once the most used web browser, however, its market share fell below 50% due to competition from Google’s Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox. What’s surprising is that Microsoft finally acknowledged in a press release that IE is slow and no longer practical for or compatible with many modern web tasks. The company also confirmed that IE is far less secure than modern browsers. © Reddit Microsoft is already looking to the future though thanks to its latest browser that is based on Google's open-source Chrome code. The Edge browser has gained more traction in recent years than Internet Explorer did in the past few years. Microsoft usually funded IE with Windows, however, it is unclear at the moment if the company will stop bundling the browser with future Windows PCs and laptops. "We are announcing that the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is in Microsoft Edge," said Sean Lyndersay, Microsoft's program manager for Edge. "Not only is Microsoft Edge a faster, more secure and more modern browsing experience than Internet Explorer, but it is also able to address a key concern: compatibility for older, legacy websites and applications.” © Reuters The only reason why Microsoft has kept Internet Explorer alive for so long is that many businesses still depend on it for compatibility reasons. However, Microsoft Edge now supports an IE mode which will make it easier for corporations to make the transition. Will you miss Internet Explorer or at least make fun of how slow it was as compared to other browsers? Let us in the comments what you think about Microsoft’s decision to kill the Internet Explorer after 25 years. View the full article
  9. Britney Spears manages to remain one of those icons who go down in history for their humongous fan base, huge popularity and insane amount of success, not to forget the kind of influence she managed to have on every teenaged in the 90’s, was unfathomable. One of the biggest hits from this pop icon, which continues enjoying a big space in every playlist is the famous Toxic track whose tune legit ejects you from your place and forces you to just dance. A song that was released around 11 years ago manages to stay in everyone’s mind till date and keeps coming back with some revamped or remixed version, only to be played louder at a gym or a club. Now how about if we tell you that Toxic has a very non-toxic ‘desi’ connection and that kind of makes this song bigger for us than it already is. This is not a revelation that we are making from Professor Trelawney’s teacup but in fact SongPsych, a virtual show hosted by Dev Lemons is where we hear the revelation. It was told that the extremely catchy tune was picked up from the 1981 Bollywood movie, ‘Ek Duuje Ke Liye’. The song, Tere Mere Beech Mein , has a similar tune if you hear carefully. View this post on Instagram The producers for Toxic took the two tunes and made their own version for Britney. Now let's try crooning to both of them. you see?! Well , now you know! 10. The Indian Premier League (IPL) has witnessed numerous players carving their own niche on the back of spectacular performances over the years. Their success didn't just earn them plaudits, but it also garnered high expectations from pundits and fans alike. Such has been their consistency that it's almost criminal to expect them to deliver the goods every time they take the field. Take AB de Villiers for instance. The South African has been one of the most influential stars in the tournament over the years. Whether he's in form or not, the target is competitive or impossible to achieve, the sight of ABD walking out on the field wielding the willow always gets us on the edge of our seats amid expectations of total carnage. Similarly, the thirteenth edition of the IPL, too, had cricket fans expecting the usual suspects to deliver big time. While many expected stars have surely delivered, the ongoing season has become more of a story of those unexpected match-winners who have not only aided their respective teams in crunch situations but also surprised everyone with their unmatched skills. Marcus Stoinis © Twitter/@IPL Arguably the most popular name on the list, Marcus Stoinis is well known for his all-round abilities on the international circuit. But, his poor stint with Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) saw him finding new employers in Delhi Capitals (DC) this season. Owing to ordinary performances in RCB colours, Stoinis was not really expected to do well this season. But, the Aussie, contrary to popular perception, has been clinical for Delhi. In the very first game for Delhi, Stoinis emerged as the match-winner for his side in the 'Super Over' thriller against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The 31-year-old scored a brilliant 21-ball 53 and then impressed everyone with his bowling figures of 2-29 to eventually bag the 'Man of the Match' award. Rahul Tewatia © Twitter/@IPL In a team that boasts of proven stars like Steve Smith, Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes, no one could have possibly imagined that Rahul Tewatia would have such an influential season for his team. The Rajasthan allrounder had already given a glimpse of his capabilities during a three-wicket spell against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) early in the tournament. But, it was the game against Punjab that really showed his class. Chasing a total of 223 runs, the likes of Samson (85) and Steve Smith (50) surely laid the foundation of their run-chase but it was Tewatia's late fireworks that sealed the deal for Rajasthan. The left-hander's herculean batting effort of 31-ball 53, including 7 sixes, against all odds allowed Rajasthan to pull off the highest successful run-chase in IPL history and emerged as the unlikeliest of heroes this season. Axar Patel © Twitter/@IPL Dropped from the team after playing just two matches, Axar Patel got a second wind this season after Amit Mishra's unexpected injury. Since then, the Delhi allrounder has not only been impressive with both bat and ball, but he has become a key contributor in the rampant run of his team this season. In nine matches, Axar has taken eight wickets and has been explosive with the willow at the end of the innings. His power-hitting was in full display during Delhi's five-wicket win over Chennai. Shikhar Dhawan's unbeaten 101 surely played a key role in Delhi's triumph, but there is no doubt that if it wasn't for Axar's 5-ball 21, which included three sixes, the Capitals wouldn't have pulled it off. Rahul Tripathi © Twitter/@IPL At a time when Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were struggling with Sunil Narine's form, Rahul Tripathi grabbed the opportunity with both hands and made his position at the top his own. Tasked with the responsibility of getting KKR off to a flyer, Tripathi smoked a match-winning 81 against Chennai on a day when others failed to step up. The 29-year-old smashed eight fours and three sixes in an innings that came at a strike-rate over 158. While none of the established Kolkata stars couldn't score past 17, Rahul's 81 ensured his team reached a competitive total of 167 runs. His batting effort proved decisive as Chennai eventually fell short of the target, losing the game by 10 runs. And, Rahul bagged a well-deserved 'Man of the Match' award. T Natarajan © Twitter/@IPL In the glitz and glamour of IPL where international stars often hog the limelight, no one would have thought T Natarajan, a left-arm seamer from Salem in Tamil Nadu, would emerge as Sunrisers Hyderabad's yorker specialist. During their 15-run win over Delhi, Hyderabad had a few key contributors including the likes of Jonny Bairstow (53) and Rashid Khan (3-14). Natarajan, too, had his role to play with figures of 1-24. While his figures might not seem extraordinary, it shouldn't take anything away from the outstanding overs (14th and 18th) he bowled during Delhi's run-chase. The left-arm seamer bowled as many as 10 toe-crushing yorkers during the match which played a key role in Hyderabad's win. Though Rashid bagged the 'Man of the Match' award, it was Natarajan who ran away with plaudits from pundits and fans alike. View the full article
  11. While we have looked into several mysteries and myths in the past, we have often discovered logical explanations for each one of them. The story of the ship named Mary Celeste, on the other hand, continues to remain unsolved over a century and a half later. What’s The Story? In 1872, a double-masted Mary Celeste set sail from New York Harbor towards Genoa, Italy. It was captained by Benjamin S. Briggs, an experienced sailor and with him were his wife, Sarah, their infant daughter Sophia and eight other members of the crew. Their next stop on #TheChase is the Mary Celeste... #London1965#DoctorWho pic.twitter.com/9DcAYz5EK0 — Kippy Woo (@TygerWhoCame2T) August 8, 2020 A month later, this ship was spotted by another sailing vessel of Canadian origin named Dei Gratia sailing through the North Atlantic Ocean, about 645 kilometres away from the Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal. Upon inspection, no sign of human life was found on the brigantine. However, it was stacked with food and water which was later estimated to be enough for over six months of survival. Aside from a missing lifeboat, the ship also looked unscathed. No signs of a natural disaster affecting the ship or a crash were found, which led to one of the most talked-about maritime mysteries of all time - what happened to the Briggs family and the eight crewmembers? Why would they abandon a perfect and damage-free ship? Read more about the weird circumstances surrounding Mary Celeste here: https://t.co/k9OiajACRl#unsolvedmysteries pic.twitter.com/5AYH7egwNT — ScareStreet (@ScareStreet) August 7, 2020 Mary Celeste’s Dark History: The ship, which was originally named Amazon, has been rather infamous throughout its past and is a source of numerous unfortunate events with the crewmembers. Its first captain ever, Captain McLellan mysteriously fell ill during the maiden voyage and his condition continued to worsen as he spent days on the ship. Amazon made its way to Spencer's Island, Nova Scotia, where McLellan died on June 19, 1861. John Nutting Parker, who took the ship’s wheel after the passing of McLellan, also fell prey to a series of misfortunes. First, it collided with fishing equipment at the Eastport, Maine, USA and crashed into another brig in the English Channel. In 1867, the Amazon got completely wrecked by a storm. The damage was so much that the owners had to abandon it on the shore of Cape Breton Island. The wreckage was bought by Alexander McBean who rebuilt the ship and named it Mary Celeste. Ever since, the vessel’s ownership changed a handful of times until it made its way to Benjamin S. Briggs. Proposed Theories: According to old folklore, carnivorous seaweed was said to be responsible for crew disappearances in the 1800s. In 1872, the ship Mary Celeste was found off the coast of Portugal aimlessly floating. Not a single crew member was anywhere to be found. #WyrdWednesday #History pic.twitter.com/tkXK2yBUah — Haunted History BC (@HauntedHistory2) August 5, 2020 Fiction fanatics came up with stories that ranged between a pirate attack and an assault by a giant sea monster. While those who were more scientifically inclined, suggested that mishap had something to do with the fumes from the 1,700 barrels of crude alcohol Mary Celeste was carrying at the time. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the Sherlock Holmes series, also contributed to the legend when in 1884, he wrote a short story titled J. Habakuk Jephson's Statement suggesting that the Briggs family was slaughtered by an ex-slave in an act of vengeance. In 2007, Channel 4 International came up with a documentary titled The True Story of the Mary Celeste which suggested a rather unexciting theory (although inconclusive), according to which Briggs commanded everyone to abandon ship and row for the land, owing to the disastrous weather and a clogged onboard pump. There have been many stories about this incident. Numerous tabloids have tried to retell the story based on the evidence available onboard but nobody could come up with one satisfying theory. As time passes by and lores about the disappearance of the Briggs family continue to get added to the legend, what truly happened that day continues to be buried deeper and deeper. 12. Considered to be one of the greatest talents to have ever placed his foot inside the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) ring, Phillip Jack Brooks aka CM Punk made a comeback to pro wrestling five years later since bidding adieu to the business in 2014. However, it was the way in which the former ECW superstar made his comeback to the sport that was unexpected. While a lot of his fans had hoped for the 'Straight-Edge' wrestler's return to wrestling with WWE, Punk decided to make it a smaller affair. To get you on pace with the story, in an MKE Wrestling event called 'The Last Knight' on Friday, a masked man interfered with one of the fights of the evening and hit one of the wrestlers with CM Punk's signature move, the 'Go To Sleep' or the GTS, kneeing him in the head. CM Punk Returned to pro wrestling and this was his big return 𤣠wow ð® CM Punk! CM Punk! #wwe #aew #cmpunk pic.twitter.com/DQc6fR1IvY — Mr. Extra™ï¸ (@WWEMrExtra) April 21, 2019 What made the fans believe that the mystery man want indeed CM Punk was the hoodie he was wearing at the time of the “assault” because earlier in the day, Punk was seen wearing a similar hoodie while attending a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament in the neighbourhood. While the star has neither confirmed nor denied the theory, Wrestling Inc., a well-renowned wrestling news site has shown credibility to it. According to the site, plans were made for Punk to take off his mask after the attack but the star apparently decided otherwise at the last moment. After the self-proclaimed “best in the world” had left Vince McMahon's company in pursuit of a career in MMA he had said that if he were to return to pro wrestling, it would not be on a big stage like WWE of Japan's Ring of Honor (RoH) but a smaller more localised organization. CM Punk is the kind of guy who has the charisma of a champion and a fan following big enough to make any wrestling show draw in major sponsors and make it a big hit. If he is indeed back to the wrestling business, all of us are in for a treat.
  13. Whatever style gaffes Suniel Shetty might be a victim of during the '90s, he has more than made up for all of that now. He probably is the fittest dad in Bollywood right now with grown up kids, and his fashion game is so on point that the only proper analogy would be that of aging wine. From giving 25-year-olds a run for their money to giving SRK style complex, this man is a force to reckon with. He just proved it once again by attending Amit Thackeray's wedding reception wearing a plain white dhoti and making it look runway-ready. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The white cotton dhoti is perhaps the most 'Indian' outfit of all times, when it comes to menswear, but it is terribly underrated. Be it the comfort, the grace, or the raw, natural, masculine appeal it exudes - there is no other outfit that can score better. Suniel Shetty clearly understands it, as he stood tall, wearing a simple dhoti amongst the glam and glitz around, and stealing everyone's thunder nonetheless. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani A white kurta and a cotton dhoti not only makes for the most comfortable outfit ever, it is also the most regal one - in a sophisticated, subtle manner. The fact that he chose to wear a pair of brown Kolhapuris with it, and kept it comfy yet classy, shows that his style game is as effortlessly functional as it is smart. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani All we can say is the new crop of Bollywood youngsters need a style lesson from him about how to keep it simple yet stunning, urgently. Kudos!

  15. Elon Musk in a recent Tweet said he's building a cyborg dragon and we are as baffled as you are. Given Musk's history, it shouldn't be taken lightly as he actually may be working on something he claims to be working on. © Boring Company In case you have forgotten, this is the same guy who made a flamethrower and managed to sell them out in a matter of days. He's also known as the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX co-founder, but that doesn't stop him from making his dreams come true. So when he says he's building a cyborg dragon, we better believe it. Oh btw I'm building a cyborg dragon — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) April 25, 2018 Now we don't know how big it will be or what it will be able to do, but for some reason, we're excited and confused at the same time. Sure, there is no need for a cyborg dragon that spits fire, but is there? However, before you get too excited about a fire-breathing dragon, there is one thing that is named “Dragon” in all of Musk's companies. It's called the Dragon capsule and it is used to go back and forth to the International Space Station. © SpaceX Sure this may not be as exciting as an actual cyborg fire breathing dragon, but that didn't stop Twitter users from having a field day. As expected, Game of Thrones jokes were bound to appear and here are some we thought were hilarious: The ominous part is not "dragon" but "cyborg," since it implies there's an organic component to the whole enterprise. Will the billionaire put a pigeon inside his machine, or perhaps just some still-living part of a bird? The mind reels. — Kelsey D. 16. Wherever you live these days, if you look up for a place to work out, you will find both spa-like gyms and old-school hardcore bodybuilding dungeons near you. To be honest, new gyms or shall I say fitness centers these days have increasingly started to look more like hip nightclubs rather than a place to work out. They have every amenity that you can think of at your disposal. From top of the line strength equipment, to a seemingly endless number of cardio machines, from flat-screen televisions to steam rooms and saunas, you name it, they've got it. Massages, food joints, coffee houses and the lists go on. © TNation On the other hand, there are non-brand “hardcore” gyms, which are smaller in every aspect when compared to big gyms. They have less equipment, amenities and cost way less than their flashy counterparts. These gyms usually tend to be more on the no-nonsense, no-judgment side, where the only thing that matters is how much effort you put into your workouts and not how your workout gear looks. People engage in lifting talks rather than taking selfies. Most of these hardcore gyms have been around longer than these newly found wellness centers. You will realize this instantly when you step into one. © Pinterest From old photos of bodybuilding icons to broken, dusty, machines slumped in dark corners, you'll find that this place has some history. There's chalk dust everywhere, stacks upon stacks of iron weight plates and dumbbells, not the fancy rubber ones that you get in a high end wellness centre. The atmosphere in the gym tells you that there is no bullshitting at this place. This is the home of the hardcore. For some people, these gyms can be “dirty” and “unhygienic” but for others, it is a temple where they find solace. Figuring out which type of gym is better suited to your needs can increase the odds of you succeeding on your fitness journey. © Pinterest What you should remember is that the weight you lift will not change if you pay four grand instead of 500 bucks a month. 100 kg is 100 kg! You still need to exert the same effort to get them up in the air. Spending more money to go to a fancy gym doesn't make the dumbbells any lighter or gets you shredded quicker. I get it that everyone has different goals, ideas and preferences in life. For most recreational gym goers, the gym is someplace where they can socialize, wind down and maybe get in a little cardio rather than worrying about breaking PR's. On the other side of the spectrum there are people, who eat, breathe and sleep training. A hardcore gym is better suited to those people, who are serious about lifting and are least bothered about how they look in their gym selfies. Sad but true, these hardcore gyms are a dying breed. As the gyms get fancier, the hardcore quotient gets pushed out further and further. The gyms now call out people looking to have not, not to people who are trying to achieve something under the bar. © Pinterest Look for a gym that works for you, offers the services you're interested in, whether that's walking on the treadmill while chatting up that girl you like or trying to hit 150 kg on your bench press. Make your choice according to what you prefer because you are more likely to go to the place that you like and at the end of the day, consistency is the key. He also lauded the city?s administration and relevant department for successfully organising the match. ?I send my heartiest congratulations to all the players participating in the tournament, particularly the foreign players,? said Nawaz. 18. We all know we are addicted to social media. For most of us it's either Facebook, Instagram or (if you're more millennial than the rest of us), Snapchat. Our day doesn't end without laughing at memes, without righteously liking a socially relevant post or without sharing a funny status. Tagging friends in funny or inspirational posts and memes has become the new benchmark of friendship. It's no longer “Chal, chai pila”; it's “Chal, meme dekh”. For most of us, browsing Facebook is the first thing we do after waking up in the morning and the last thing before we go to bed at night. We don't stand in balconies, doing nothing, anymore. We can't go through a meal without looking at our phones to check for notifications. © Unsplash/Nathan Dumlao The recent controversy around Facebook's leak of private data to Cambridge Analytica had us sit and take notice at the mad obsession we have for the socia media platform. Most of us have been using it for over a decade – we've marked milestones on it, we have old pictures we've long forgotten about, we have old friends we have long forgotten about, but are still connected through Facebook. There are old memories that keep cropping up to remind us we were having a good time since college. There's too much at stake to just break up with Facebook. It has more information about us than our employers do, it has more pictures of us than there are in our family photo albums, it knows more about our exes than our current partner does. We can't lose it all, we can't go back. Deleting our Facebook account will mean losing all that information we built over the last decade; we've invested too much emotion in this. We're trapped. © Unsplash/Javier Cañada I can't imagine how, without Faebook, I'd pretend to be busy in a bar when I'm waiting for my friends to arrive. I can't imagine how I'll stay up-to-date with whatever's happening in the world. How will I form an opinion just by watching a news channel or reading the newspaper? Ironically, I read about the Facebook controversy on Facebook itself. It's my newspaper, chat box, notice board, friend, photo album all rolled into one. We should have had an intervention long ago, but everyone was too busy posting on Facebook. We diss clickbait culture as the lowest form of online journalism, but we never realised we have been living as clickbait human beings all along. We post things that will get us likes; we treat our selfies to filters to make them perfect, we use the right hashtags to reach the maximum people. We are a walking-talking 10 Ways Humans Are Addicted To Social Media. © Pexels Today, even our parents and relatives are on Facebook. And they are 'liking' and commenting on pictures of each other and their long-lost friends. Facebook is probably the reason they've left us alone now. It's the son or daughter they never had. It's frightening but it's catching up on the previous generation too now. We conducted a poll on our Facebook page asking readers if they'd delete their Facebook account if their privacy was invaded. An impressive 60% said yes, while the remaining 40% (and most people I know) said they wouldn't bother deleting their Facebook accounts. Even though a higher percentage are in favour of deleting Facebook, nobody did. I said yes and I didn't. It's as difficult as breaking up with someone you've been seeing for 10 years. You are so used to them you can't imagine a life without them. © Pexels In this world where perfect waistlines and fat bank balances are the highest measures of someone's worth, we are armed only with our magic filter cameras and Facebook check-ins to preserve our self-esteem. An expensive meal, an exotic vacation, a friends' get-together, the perfect selfie – these are the things that make us desirable and popular. Virtual reality is the only way we can get to live the cool life, by proxy. Because real life is too humbling and harsh. Who feels good about themselves after eating khichdi? Facebook has given us the opportunity to be someone. In our identity-deprived egotistic minds and middle class existence, social media is our superpower. We're not nobodies anymore; we're a cool friend in someone's friend list. Even if we run the risk of our privacy being invaded, we will continue to indulge our insecurities and fears by sitting behind the comforting mask of our Facebook profiles. We will always choose it over being an anonymous nobody.
  19. Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong´o (L) and US-Pakistani stand-up comedian Kumail Nanjiani present the Oscar for Best Production Design during the 90th Annual Academy Awards show on March 4, 2018 in Hollywood, California. Photo: AFP Taking a dig at his own immigrant status and extending support to the 'Dreamers' in the United States, Pakistan-origin comedian Kumail Nanjiani has said nobody from Hollywood can find Pakistan on the map. The comedian along with actress Lupita Nyong'o from Kenya used presenting the Oscar for production design at the 2018 Academy Awards on Sunday as an opportunity to voice support for undocumented migrants who arrived in the US as children, according to IANS. "We are the two actors who you keep hearing about but whose names you have trouble pronouncing," Nyong'o quipped. Nanjiani added, "Actually, I have to complain... Kumail Nanjiani is my stage name. My actual given Pakistani name is Chris Pine. So you can imagine how annoyed I was when the other, the white one showed up... The real Chris Pine." Nyong'o, whose latest release Black Panther is performing well at the box office, then said: "We are also immigrants. I am from Kenya." Adding to this, Nanjiani said, "And I am from Pakistan and Iowa, two places that nobody from Hollywood can find on the map." "Like everyone in this room, and everyone watching at home, we are dreamers. We grew up dreaming of one day working in the movies. Dreams are the foundation of Hollywood, and dreams are the foundation of America," said Nyong'o, who won the Best Supporting Actress for 12 Years A Slave in 2014. "And so, to all the dreamers out there, we stand with you," added Nanjiani of The Big Sick fame. Nanjiani and Nyong'o?s comments come amid an ongoing immigration debate in the US over a programme that protects hundreds of thousands of young immigrants from deportation. US President Donald Trump announced an end to the programme in September last year but gave Congress six months to find a legislative alternative.
  20. There is no scientific tool to measure the inhumanity of humans except comparing them to each other. Gang violence is one of the most talked about issues all around the world and here we uncover some of the most dangerous gangs nobody even dares to mess with. 1. Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) © Pinterest Absolutely nothing is off-limits for this California based gang. Its founding members were a group of refugee Salvadorians. This gang with an average headcount of 70,000 includes merciless beasts that are ready to murder women and children as well. They are known for contract killings and dealing marijuana with operations throughout North and Central America. 2. Cosa Nostra © Pinterest Cosa Nostra is an Italian phrase which translates to "our thing" in English. It is the Sicilian Mafia, whose roots can be traced back to the early days of New York City's lower east side. Its members call themselves "men of honour", but the public addresses them as "Mafiosi( roughly translates to “swagger”)". It is claimed that they have around 25,000 members and reportedly 250,000 "affiliates" around the world. The Mafia's primary functions are protection racketeering, settling illegal disputes, and handling and sorting illegal agreements and transactions. To capture the vibe of Cosa Nostra re-watch “Godfather”. 3. Sinaloa Cartel © ibtimes The Sinaloa Cartel is as dangerous as they come. A Mexican gang notorious enough to murder people on camera and post it online, they have established their name as one of a fabled drug cartel. Its CEO, also known as El Chapo, Joaquin Guzman Loera was included by Forbes on its list of most powerful people in the world. He is so powerful that he managed to escape the world's most secure prisons twice. Even the fact that he is currently under arrest, didn't slow-down the gang's usual dealings of extortion, kidnappings, human trafficking, murder and any other cashable crime. 4. Bloods & Crips © Pinterest Two African-American street gangs; Bloods & Crips where one is very rarely mentioned without the other. There is too much to cover about these two deadly gangs who control Los Angeles, California. Here's a gist, Bloods was formed to fight the terror of Crips in 1972. Bloods stands for "Brotherly Love Overrides Oppression and Destruction and Crips for "Community Revolution In Progress." Both Crips and Bloods are two gang cultures with multiple sub-gangs called “sets”. Each set has its own rules and a leader, and functions independently. Bloods are identified by the red color worn by their members. In an attempt to overpower Crips, the Bloods became increasingly violent. Today both these gangs are equally feared in the States. 5. Los Zetas © sofrep This Mexican cartel is considered the main rival of Cosa Nostra. They have the biggest share in illegal drug affair in not only Mexico but also a major part of United States. They are responsible for mass murder and incomparable destruction to sustain their drug business. 6. 18th Street Gang © YouTube It is a rival street gang of Bloods & Crips. What differentiates it from the other street gangs is that they are a multi-ethnic (largely Central American and Mexican) transnational criminal organization. It has been reported that on average every day someone in Los Angeles Country is assaulted or robbed by an 18th Street Gang member. They are alleged to have a kill count as high as three times as any rival gang. What makes them even more dangerous is their sophistication. Every member is made to follow the rules and orders of the leader. 7. Mungiki © Vice From being a banned ethnic organization, Mungiki moved to be a gang-cum-cult. They hold Kenya under terror with kidnappings, machetes, spears, arson, and poison. Since mystery is their biggest asset, naturally Government has no fixed records of their operations. In the past, their members practised a ritual of bathing in blood. During the past few years, their reported crimes involved numerous violent beheadings and forced female circumcisions. A severed human head on a stick represents the ideals of Mungiki. 8. United Bamboo © Exploredia United Bamboo aka Zhu Lien Bang is a Taiwanese gang having ties with few of the biggest, baddest gangs across the globe. These relationships ensure the smooth sail of their illegal, black-market network. They murdered a journalist in his own garage once, according to ForeignPolicy.com. 9. 14k Triad © Pinterest Triads are based at Hong Kong but functioning globally in the illegal drugs trafficking. That being their primary business, they are also involved in human trafficking, illegal gambling, drug trafficking, counterfeiting, weapons trafficking, prostitution, kidnapping, money laundering, loan sharking, extortion, robbery, and murder. It has 20,000 members spread across the planet. They have inspired movies and are known even by the civilians. 10. Aryan Brotherhood © Pinterest A gang whose terror is felt even amongst the criminals. The Aryan Brotherhood is mostly a prison gang, and thus stay concealed to the outside world. They are people filled with absolute hatred and are known for giving people the most painful deaths. They are held responsible for 1/4 of prison murders in the United States. They were founded in 1964 in San Quentin prison near San Francisco. Since 1964 they've earned the distinguishable title of the “most violent extremist group in the US,” by the Anti-Defamation League.
  21. First things first: for all those who don't know about the 2G scam, let us enlighten you! Six years ago, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) alleged that 122 2G licenses were given to telecom operators at throwaway prices, causing a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the national exchequer. Eventually, the licenses were scrapped by the Supreme Court in 2012. However now, due to lack of substantial evidence the court has set free all the accused including former Union telecom minister A Raja and Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi. © Twitter © Twitter This scam was one of the reasons the Congress party-led UPA was regarded as one of the most corrupt governments ever which eventually lead to the coalition's collapse. The judge OP Saini said, “There is no evidence on the record produced before the court indicating any criminality in the acts allegedly committed by the accused persons relating to fixation of cut-off date, manipulation of first-come first-served policy.” As the news of the verdict spread, people on Twitter were extremely confused and angry. And why won't they be? After 6 years, this verdict cannot be expected to go down well with the citizens of the country. While some were extremely annoyed, others took a hilarious dig at the verdict: 1. Looks like, he isn't guilty either. 22. Luxury company Louis Vuitton is now playing the smartwatch game as they introduced their very own Tambour Horizon. The smartwatch will be running Android Wear 2.0 and has been developed in partnership with Qualcomm and Google. And it costs a ridiculous Rs 1.6 Lakhs (Without import duty). © Louis Vuitton Now, whenever a luxury company tries to flirt with technology, I always seem to remain sceptical. From Prada and Dolce & Gabbana phones to something as ridiculous as an iPhone cover, I've seen it all. The LV smartwatch is probably the most useless smartwatch I've come across and here's why. It does not have a heart rate monitor, it can't track your sleep and it can barely last a day. Sure, it has a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen and is powered by Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, but it's of no use. © Louis Vuitton Louis Vuitton may have a gleam of hope that they can compete with Apple Watch, but let's face it they won't even come close. Louis Vuitton may be all about the status that wants to sell you an exclusive super expensive smartwatch, but it's for idiots that don't know what they are buying. The Horizon comes in grey, black, and brown, with more than 60 different straps, half meant for men and half meant for women which may just be the only interesting thing about the smartwatch. The watch, however, does look extremely sexy but that does not warrant the hefty price tag in our honest opinion. Luxury watches are meant to last people for years and a smartwatch that costs INR 1.6 Lakh will likely die in two or three years. The Tambour Horizon doesn't even have the option to replace the mechanical timepiece unlike the Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45. If you can afford to buy a 1.6 Lakh smartwatch every two years. Then go for it and maybe adopt me too? Sorry Louis Vuitton, better luck fooling us next time.
