  1. In today’s day and age when social media has become extremely toxic, not every day does it happen that grown men unanimously compliment someone and not a single person gets offended or goes against the stream. However, cricket pundit and commentator, Charu Sharma has managed to unite mankind (well, at least the Indian cricket fans) into crushing over his voice as teenagers behave at a Harry Styles concert. via GIPHY On Wednesday evening, Sharma shared a message from his official Twitter handle thanking everyone for appreciating his professionalism during the IPL 2022 mega auction when he was called in by the broadcasters to conduct the event when the original auctioneer, Hugh Edmeades collapsed because of low blood pressure. A presenter by passion and profession, Sharma thanked the fans, a few members of the Board of Control for Cricket in India and certain executives at StarSports for thinking of him and giving him the opportunity to be the host of the show. pic.twitter.com/OS3PReeFWh — Charu Sharma (@Charuonsports) February 16, 2022 “Hello friends, I should have sent this message out at least a couple of days earlier. But as some of you know, at least the last few days have been rather dramatic with my having to step in and conduct the Tata IPL mega auction as a substitute. Well, that story is by now out in some detail,” Sharma said on Twitter. “This message is all about expressing my deepest gratitude to all of you and many others (who are) not on Twitter, who took the trouble to send in your appreciation. I maybe an old warhorse, but I have been overwhelmed with this large wave, this flood of positivity and respect,” he added. Unafraid of paying compliments to another man, the Twitter-verse came up with some of the most innovative and creative ways to appreciate Sharma: My man speaking in italic font https://t.co/z3Dk8Zd679 — Depressed CSK Fan (@ashutosh0716) February 16, 2022 The Base voice, clarity, hold over the language, OMG Perfect. https://t.co/gL9r5HmkOo — Rahul Kumar | ರಾಹುಲ್ ಕುಮಾರ್ (@rahulsamanya) February 16, 2022 Man will score 35/30 in Toefl speaking https://t.co/GMFKLSpsrB — Venkat (@__veebee31) February 16, 2022 I want this guy to read all my tweets and record it for me https://t.co/9O787IdQAC — Kendrink Longmoaner (@mdsameerthunder) February 16, 2022 I want this man to be narrator of my life https://t.co/FqzU1eZFUr — harshh (@thatHarsh_) February 16, 2022 I want him to recite Mahabharat with his soothing voice https://t.co/NlVaTmaK9V — Nishchal (@KasamSeFunny) February 16, 2022 In the same message, Sharma also said that he has no idea what was going to be on the other side of the massive wave of support he received during and following the IPL 2022 mega auction. Maybe it could lead to an opportunity for him to return to the commentary box and headline major cricket matches and tournaments in the future. However, he also clarified that if nothing of the sort materialises in the future and his stint as the IPL auctioneer ends as a one-off event, it would not demotivate him and only give him the boost to look toward other exciting things that may be waiting for him around the corner. Sharma formerly served as an administrator in the IPL. In the inaugural season of the event, he was chosen CEO of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, he was compelled to resign, according to sources, due to the team's poor performance. Sharma was supposed to have departed on his own at the time, but he later contradicted this, saying that he was sacked by Vijay Mallya, the team's owner at the time. View the full article

  5. They say music conquers everything. Everything that it touches, it transforms it into something more meaningful and beautiful. Making music the key to fight the finality and idiosyncrasy's that life throws at us is the growing need of the hour and that's what Rainbow Voices, India's first LGBTIQ choir from Mumbai is doing! Since the unfavourable 377 verdict, there have been many voices raised against criminalising homosexuality and many efforts being made by the community to bring equality into Indian ideologies. The beginning of the end started with the country raising its voices through a legitimised Queer Pride Parade, which had it's test run in 2008. After that, there was no looking back by the LGBTIQ community to fight for their legal rights. In an effort to maximise and contain the efforts of the community, Rainbow Voices, lends their voices to make a difference in how our society thinks about the LGBTIQ community co-existing in the same space. © Rainbow Voices Mumbai Rainbow Voices came together in the summer of 2014 as a professional choir group singing songs for LGBTIQ related events, gatherings and parades and started gathering momentum as the singing warriors of injustice, as their songs always made a remarkable statement and left the audience a lot of music for thought. When they forming as a community, they called Mumbai folks to audition for the initiative and got 28 responses in one day. That's how much the community needed to be heard through songs and other musical expressions. According to the founder Vinod Philip, music touches the hearts of a million people and moves them from deep within. Being so passionate about singing, they could best express their sentiments towards such a pressing issue through music. They have a rather interesting approach towards their performances. They usually dress up in loud colourful attire and dawn jewellery when they go perform, boldly breaking sterotypes. They sing a lot of commercial pop to Bollywood songs and try alot renditions and improvisations in their songs- like for instance playing the sitar for Madonna's 'Like a Virgin'. They make some of their own music, which of course comes from the heart and popularises their message through various events. They're all staunch patriots and love singing the Indian National Anthem with pride. Unfortunately the stark irony is a lot of people hearing them sing the anthem are not proud of the choices the community has made for themselves. © Rainbow Voices Mumbai The challenges they face are plenty. The struggle is quite real for them. From their family members shunning them for doing something different and vocal to them being asked questions like why they dress up like women on stage, they go through it all. Sometimes they have issues figuring out safe spaces to perform and practice. Whatever challenges they face, they usually come out fortified, with their own will and determination protecting them to go ahead and spread their message in peace. Recently, a big stepping stone for them was to perform with the Pink Singers, a LGBT choir based out of London. Both the choir groups got together in Mumbai earlier this year to celebrate the Mumbai pride month. They idea behind mixing two similar ideologies from different countries was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of decriminalisation of homosexuality in the UK and India's 71st year of Independence. Here's the best part- this archaic law was formed during the Victorian era for India. So the best way to celebrate and be wishful at the same time was to bring the two countries together and sing songs towards the mutual sense of solidarity. © Rainbow Voices Mumbai The eventual aim of these Rainbow warriors is to spread the message of peace and strength through the LGBTIQ community. They believe in being bold and being true to what their principles. They have openly asked the Indian community to not discriminate fellow members of the LGBTIQ community and give them a helping hand to identify who they really are. On our 71st Independence, we truly believe it's time to break away from the shackles of such archaic laws and build a better, newer and freer world for ourselves.
