ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online NewsA Salman Khan movie on Eid is what we call 'sone pe suhaga'. Salman has always managed to block the occasion of Eid for his big releases and this time is no different either. We have 'Bharat' releasing on June 5. Fans are eagerly waiting as Salman is coming back with Ali Abbas Zafar. Considering 'Sultan' and 'Tiger Zinda Ha' were hits, there are a lot of expectations from this film too. For the uninitiated, the film is an official remake of the Korean drama, 'An Ode To My Father' and will see Salman sporting 5 different looks over the span of 70 years. Clearly, the wave of cinema is changing and content is the only winner. Yes, Salman has that star power but can he help the cause of a movie if the content is not what the audience appreciates? You know the answer. Before the big release, MensXP got in touch with the Trade Experts to know if Salman Khan's 'Bharat' would be a blockbuster or if it would be a dud like that of 'Tubelight' and 'Race 3'. Here's what they have to say: Atul Mohan Let's not ignore the fact the highest grossing Eid release was 'Sultan' with Ali Abbas Zafar in 2016. 'Tubelight' (2017) and 'Race 3' (2018) were not really great films. Salman coming back with Ali is surely one of the highlights and this would be their third collaboration after 'Sultan' and 'Tiger Zinda Hai'. Both films have been blockbusters. This Eid, you have a successful actor-director Jodi. I think this time I feel you have the factor of Ali Abbas that will come into play. I feel the buzz is in general low because of the two back-to-back failed Eid releases. The excitement level is not high, but at the end of the day, it all depends on the content. Ali has always represented Salman very differently and it would surely help to get the viewers to come to the theatres. This time, we will get to see Salman in different avatars. It's an official adaptation of 'An Ode To My Father' which is also considered as landmark cinema. Talking about box office numbers, I am sure they are very confident about their content and that's why they are releasing on June 5. According to me, the movie will mint around Rs 25 crores on Day 1. Salman has an altogether different aura. At the end of the day, the content should be good and nothing can stop it from being a hit. First, because it's Salman's Eid release and the second is that he is coming back with Ali Abbas Zafar. Ali has been a winner at the box office. The trailer and the songs have been doing pretty well. But, at the end of the day, it's based on the content that the audience would decide if it matches their expectations or not. On the face of it, it is not going to take a huge start. Salman Khan fans would be thronging the theatres as it's Eid release. I am sure people would at least watch it once. It's positioned itself well but if the content is not as great as that of 'Kalank', nothing really can be done. I, somehow, feel the movie might earn around Rs 35 crores on its first day. Nothing matters if the content has its own merit and Ali has already proved it through his movies. He has instilled that faith in us. To me, Ali is the strongest link despite Salman being the terrific actor that he is. If the script is weak like that of 'Tubelight' or 'Race 3', even a Salman Khan beyond a point can't do much to save the film. It's more about content and classic example is of Vicky Kaushal's 'URI'. The star only adds to the opening figures because of the stardom. The producers of the film are lucky to have Ali Abbas on board as a director. Seeing his track record and not just with Salman, we can say that the magic would work. Considering all the factors in mind, I feel the movie should earn nothing less than Rs 35 crores on Day 1.
