  1. Haven't we always heard some wise man or go-getter say “follow your passion”? Throwing away those three words as easily as a pie. As if most of us haven't thought about ditching this sad-ass 9-5 cycle that our life is, or as if we don't want to go back to those easy days of long and liberating jam sessions we enjoyed so much with the band or simply never having to quit the thrill of preparing and participating in street plays. © Twitter But alas, here we are. Still stuck to our swivel chairs, constantly punching those damned keys on the keyboard or attending yet another useless meeting just for the sake of it. Somewhere amidst all this senselessness and need to “get on with life”, our passion ends up taking a backseat, or goes out of the window, to be honest. © Twitter However, while this might be true for most of us, there also exist some highly-motivated individuals out there who take their “passion” seriously and back it up with concrete actions too. UP cadre IAS officer Ravindra Kumar happens to be one such person. © Twitter Ravindra recently conquered Mount Everest for the second time, after scaling the mountain peak for the first time in 2013. However, Ravindra told the media that his conquest this time around bears special importance because he dedicated it to the cause of 'Swaccha Ganga Swaccha Bharat Everest Abhiyaan 2019'. © Twitter Ravindra admitted that his motivation behind the adventure this time lies in raising awareness amongst people regarding the quickly deteriorating state of water bodies in the country, and what it means for our country and the world at large. © Twitter Ravindra has even claimed to be the first and only IAS officer to climb Mt Everest. He also shared that through this 2019 Everest expedition he wants to urge people from the highest point of Himalayas, the source of major rivers of India, to save water at their personal level.
  2. While the Civil Services are the most honorary posts to hold in the country, a lot of people miss their chance to be a part of the services because the examinations held by the UPSC aren't easy at all. And even though we have 4 attempts to pass these exams, sometimes, making it through those 4 times is improbable. Lakhs of people apply every year for the civil service examination and only about 1% of them get through. But for some people, cracking these exams and becoming an IPS officer at the age of 20 was a piece of cake. How, you ask? One would imagine he's a child prodigy to sit for the exam once and come out with flying colours and become an officer of the law, but little do we know, it was all a big farce and he actually wasn't a qualified IPS officer. © Facebook Meet the 20-year-old Abhay Meena, who posed as a high ranking IPS officer with a fake ID and credentials, a social media personality and a motivational speaker, all rolled in to one. He was recently arrested by Special Operations Group, Delhi and we're sad he misused a prestigious position to actually con the nation. Meena, who has indeed failed class 12th, claimed to have cracked the IIT and the UPSC examination in the first try itself, becoming an PS officer at a really young age. Because of this, he was often invited to institutions, fashion shows and parties to give motivational speeches as a chief guest, where he would wine and dine and con people in to believing in his hard work. So much so, he would meet police officers at these events and laud them for their great work, ironically. I mean you really have to have some cheek to pull off such an intrinsic lie, and fool people. © Facebook He was finally caught when someone noticed his police card, in which the word branch was spelled as 'branche' and capital as 'capitol'. After investigating his records further, he was finally arrested by the SOG from his apartment in Jagatpura. Meena tried intimidating the officers by boasting about his influences but clearly, that didn't work as he's under arrest currently. Apparently, Meena used to drive around in a car which has a 3-star police plate affixed on the bumper and a 3-star credential is only reserved for a DG or an Additional DG (ADG) rank. So, clearly he was misusing that too. © Times of India After wining and dining at expensive hotels, without paying the bills and showing off his ID wherever he would go, Meena is currently at the Pratap Nagar Police Station eating only 'jail ka khaana'. We feel this is grave disrespect for officers who've actually worked hard to crack civil service exams and have come all the way, with their hard work to stand where they do. It's also grave disrespect towards all the people who spend days, weeks and months preparing for these examinations and burning the midnight oil to serve the country. And here we have a man, who'd been conning his way through, making people believe he did what he did through his hard work. Up until recently, I thought these things could only happen in movies like 'Catch Me If You Can' or 'Bunty Aur Bubli', but people actually grow up in reality to become con artists and we hope he's the only one, who has pulled off such a stunt.
  3. They say dreaming, and dreaming big, is our only way of moving towards a future that none of us have seen, but all of us have certain hopes for. There wouldn't be a single individual who hasn't ever thought about their future in a certain way, but it is also true that most of us fail to pursue that dreamy future, and put in the work that would turn it into a reality. But, like most things in our world, there are two types of people who must be taken into consideration even here. Because, what about those who put in all their sweat and blood to breathe fire to their dreams? They always deserve a special mention, don't they? © Jagran Jharkhand girl Manali Gupta happens to be one such young woman who inspired a million hearts with her most recent achievement. Manali is the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) topper of class 12th Arts examinations held earlier this year. Manali scored an impressive 437 marks out of 500 in her finals. According to reports, she obtained 75 in English, 89 in Hindi, 90 in History, 92 in Geography and 91 in Economics, which makes it an aggregate of 87.4%. Awesome right? But wait until you learn her complete story. © Bharat Khabar Manali, who aims to serve her country by becoming an IAS officer in the future, is a daughter of daily wage electrician. Which means her father gets money only on the days he gets work. Can we imagine living and pursuing our dreams under similar circumstances, when even the chances of the next meal is uncertain on days? Yet, Manali persevered and worked hard day and night to get a step closer to her dreams, despite all the odds. “Since early age, I have a dream to become an IAS. This is why I took Arts after completion of matriculation,” Manali told the media. © Hindustan As for her next step, Manali plans to study her favourite subject Geography for graduation. Even with the many challenges that continue to look her in the face, Manali remembers to thank her parents for the success, “My parents laboured hard for my education. I would also like to give credit of my success to my teachers in school, as it was not possible without them.” Manali's school principal, Pramod Prakash Singh told the media that people in Patratu have lots of hope from her. He further added that despite belonging to a poor family, she continued her education and has set an example in the society.
  4. Even before 'Game Of Thrones' or 'Avengers' series came into our lives or existence, there was one show that ruled all our hearts - 'CID'. Watching ACP Pradyuman and his officers Abhijeet and Daya crack each case with precision and catch the criminals was all we looked forward to always. While we loved watching them do their thing, people also loved cracking jokes on Daya and his technique of entering a room. Of all the officers in the team, it was Daya who was loved by people the most for a) *Daya, Darwaza tod do* and b) his slap to make even the scariest criminal accept his crimes. 'CID' ruled the world of television for more than 20 years, before it went off-air. Now, after so many days, suddenly the internet decided to remember officer Daya in its own hilarious way. In case you haven't noticed already, pictured of a 'sad and upset' Daya is doing the rounds on social media, to express the meltdown they expressed after watching 'Avengers: Endgame' and the initial episodes of 'Game Of Thrones' season 8. 5. The whole world is gearing up to watch superheroes in action on the big screens, but looks like the nation has already found one in real life in an Indian Navy officer, Lt. Rahul Dalal. People say that an officer is 'never off-duty' and Lt. Rahul Dalal's bravery and courageous act just reiterates the same. Lt. Rahul Dalal was enjoying the evening of April 5 with his wife at Vypin beach, when he noticed a person struggling in water. He was unable to swim and was crying for help. © Facebook There was a huge crowd, but sadly no one was able to help him. So, without giving a second thought, Rahul jumped straight into the water and rescued him within half an hour. It wasn't easy at all, as both Rahul's and the drowning man's lives were at risk because of the strong under-current. "The officer also had to deal with the desperate and panicked victim who was pulling him down, putting both their lives in danger. The officer calmed the victim and made him hold onto his shoulders, after which he started swimming towards the beach. Lt Dalal mustered all his strength and managed to reach the shore with help of some locals," read the Facebook post shared by the official page of Indian Navy. It was further mentioned, "The victim, however, was not breathing and was unconscious. When his mouth was opened, it was found that some plants were choking his air passage. Lt Dalal cleared the passage and administered Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, whereupon the victim was revived." The drowning man, identified as Mr. Dileep Kumar from Aurangabad, was then rushed to a Government hospital where he was discharged after recuperation. Stories like these and people like Lt. Rahul Dalal are the real superheroes who restore our faith in humanity with their selfless efforts.
  6. The terror attack in Pulwama, which is being called the biggest attack on India's armed forces since the Uri attack in 2016, has shaken India to the core, and no one is willing to forget the devastating loss the nation has faced by losing 44 sons of the motherland to spineless terrorists. © Twitter Yet even in death, our military bravehearts continue to prove their service to the nation by bringing the entire country together against the terrorists. Moreover, their families continue to take pride in the sacrifice their sons, husbands and brothers made for their motherland, even as they deal with their ultimate misery and loss. People in India have decided to stand up for the families of the martyred jawans in any way they can, and support, both financial and emotional, has been pouring in for them from all over the country. But it is the effort of Bihar IAS Officer Inayat Khan during this time, which deserves a special mention. © Bharatduniya According to a report in The New Indian Express, 2012 batch IAS officer Inayat Khan, who is posted in Bihar's Sheikhpura as a District Magistrate, recently declared that she will adopt the daughters of two CRPF jawans from the state, Ratan Kumar Thakur and Sanjay Kumar Sinha. © Jagran & Indiatimes The report also states that Inayat will not only bear the cost of education for the two girls, but also bear their other expenses over the years. Not only that, but Inayat will also donate her two days' salary to martyrs Thakur and Sinha's family. "I have requested all government staff of my district to donate their one day's salary to the families of the two martyrs," Inayat was quoted as saying. © Telegraph India Inayat Khan is leading by example and we are proud of her personal efforts.
  7. Ludhiana-born Anshdeep Singh has created history by becoming the first Sikh officer to be included in U.S. President Donald Trump's security squad. He was inducted after he successfully completed all the rounds of rigorous training set for the important job. https://t.co/ZfABKygjHc Anshdeep Singh Bhatia included in US president security #ProudMomentForSikhs #America @ManjitGK @RaviSinghKA @WorldSikhOrg — Gurjeev Singh Sethi (@GurjeevSinghSet) September 11, 2018 Anshdeep's family hailed from Kanpur, but after the 1984 riots, his father, who is a bank employee, got a transfer to Ludhiana where he got married and eventually moved to the US in 2000 when Anshdeep was around 10 years old. © Twitter However, this prestige and rank didn't come easily for the officer. Earlier, Anshdeep was asked to compromise and modify his physical appearance before his induction, which was challenged by him in court. Eventually, the judgement was in his favour and he was successfully inducted. Anshdeep's achievement is a proud moment indeed for the entire Sikh community across the globe. Ludhiana-born Anshdeep Singh Bhatia refused to change his 'looks' & went to court against this rider. 8. The flood situation in Kerala has gone out of hand and while the death toll continues to rise, the nation is buckling up to help in whatever way possible. While our celebs are coming forward and urging people to help, the real heroes are the people who are actually out there and genuinely helping people in need. A video of an Indian Navy officer airlifting a drowning kid in Kerala has gone viral on social media and the amount of respect the officer is gaining for this heroic deed is unimaginably high. #OpMadad #KeralaFloodRelief #keralafloods Flight Diver Amit rescues a small child from Aluva. 9. There are people who love to eat, there are people who love to cook and then there are people like me, who love both and have subscribed to a gazillion cooking and food channels on YouTube. And if you are anything like me or one of the million viewers who love to watch people flaunting their culinary skills, chances are that you might have followed this year's MasterChef Australia as well. MasterChef Australia 2018 was arguably one of the most exciting reality shows of this year. The finale, which was way better than the icing those contestants put on their cakes, gave the world Sashi Cheliah, a name people won't forget anytime soon. Instagram Indian-origin Sashi Cheliah created history by becoming the show's highest scorer ever (93 out of 100). He defeated Queensland's Ben Borsht to clinch this victory. But, more than his win, it is his story and future plans that is turning heads everywhere. Instagram Born in Singapore, Sashi worked with the Star Unit of Singapore Police Force for nearly a decade and was trained in rescue operations and counter-terrorism. In 2011, he moved to Adelaide, Australia where he started working as a prison officer in the women's prison. Instagram Who would have thought that an advertisement of MasterChef Australia on Facebook will change Sashi's life for good? Sashi's love for food grew after he moved to Australia and now, he wants to replicate authentic Indian, Malaysian and Chinese cuisine. Instagram Sashi has won $250,000 (Australian dollars) as prize money and now, he dreams of opening a restaurant that will serve Indian and South-East Asian cuisine. In fact, Sashi wants to hire ex-prisoners in order to provide them assistance, rehabilitation, and employment opportunities.
