  2. “For the first time in history, the armed forces from every country are united against one enemy - the WHITESPIKES.” It all starts when humans from 2051 travel back in time - with catastrophic news from the future. Aliens have established dominance 30 years from now, there’s mass destruction and only 500,000 humans are left to save our entire species. They need us. Chris McKay’s “The Tomorrow War” is earth’s action-packed war against the aliens who have one mission - mass destruction and extinction of mankind. While the army deployed to time travel continues to be outnumbered by the aliens (read: whitespikes), everyday civilians are drafted into the future to support the war. Chris Pratt Leads An Army Of Compelling Actors Chris Pratt - you’re the real MVP! His heart-pounding opening scene in the film made it clear that we’re in for a fast-paced, mind-boggling, expensive film. And it lived upto the hype. Amazon Prime Video Chris Pratt plays Dan Forester, an Iraq war veteran who uses his military experience to lead an army of civilians, researchers, teachers & more. You know the actor has nailed his role when you feel like a part of his army - nervous, excited and ready to save the world with him! The Plot Dives 3 Decades Into The Future Amazon Prime Video Civilians are picked as draftees to help mankind rewrite earth’s dire destiny. But it’s the process of this time jump that left us on the edge of the couch. The draftees insert their arms in what looks like a mini-CT scan machine - but this one actually hurts. Communication sensors are punched and drilled into their arms- and bam! That’s a welcome essential to the future. An Emotional Action Film? Yes, This One Nails It. Amazon Prime Video This isn’t your run-of-the-mill, rough, tough, no emo action film. “The Tomorrow War” falls back greatly on values of family, love and togetherness. Whether it is teaming up with his estranged father (who is also a brilliant scientist) to battle the whitespikes, or willingness to take the fatal leap for his daughter - Chris Pratt’s Dan Forester rides high on emotions- and boy do we love it! Roach-Like, Ugly Whitespikes If your mind thinks of lanky, grey, disproportionate creatures when I say “alien” - you need a reset! The filmmakers of “The Tomorrow War” give aliens an all new avatar with Whitespikes - they’re ugly, UGLY, roach-like creatures with tentacles that can suck the life out of you. Make the jump. Save the world. Watch #TheTomorrowWar now, only on @PrimeVideo. pic.twitter.com/vCtcNUwVEY — TheTomorrowWar (@TheTomorrowWar) July 2, 2021 They’re toothsome, appalling - basically everything you’d want to stay away from. 3. The Indian Premier League is considered to be the biggest cash cow for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as it churns out more than 50% of the organisation’s annual revenue based on a report by IANS. However, the 2020 edition of the T20 league turned out to be the one with numerous financial and logistical crises which ended up impacting the money it generated over the course of a month and a half. © Twitter/IPL One of the biggest problems was the dismissal of Chinese tech giant Vivo as the title sponsor following the rising tensions between Indian and Chinese soldiers at the Galwan Valley back in June 2020. Another issue was that the entire tournament took place in the United Arab Emirates and that too behind closed doors, cutting various sources of income ranging from ticket sales to merchandise and food purchase at the venue. Holding the Indian Premier League (@IPL) 2020 in the UAE is a testament of great trust & confidence in UAE’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Welcoming this major cricket tournament further highlights UAE’s competency of hosting international sports events. pic.twitter.com/wp9JGvZ53J — Mansoor bin Mohammed (@sheikhmansoor) September 30, 2020“The Indian Premier League’s valuation dropped for the first time in six years” according to a report by Bloomberg. The report further added that in terms of numbers, the franchisee saw a $6.2 billion dip. But which team experienced the biggest loss? Here are the 5 IPL Teams That Lost The Most Amount Of Money In 2020, Despite Having Big Superstars Onboard: 5. SunRisers Hyderabad (-8.5%): © Twitter/SRH Despite facing a lot of criticism in terms of not being able to score at a high rate, the 2016 IPL champions switched gears in the latter half of the season and ended up making it to the third spot in the points table. Unfortunately, their comeback effort couldn’t help them witness a drop of Rs. 41 crore in brand value after their campaign ended. 4. Royal Challengers Bangalore (-9.9%): © Twitter/RCB Even though one of the most popular cricketers in the world, Virat Kohli captains the RCB side, his fame wasn’t enough to protect the franchise from seeing a devaluation worth Rs. 59 crore despite sneaking their way into the playoffs. 3. Kings XI Punjab/Punjab Kings (-11.3%): © Twitter/KXIP Punjab Kings experienced a massive decline in brand value between 2019 and 2020 worth Rs. 40 crore despite a great start to the season and a powerful duo of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal leading their batting lineup. 2. Kolkata Knight Riders (-13.7%): © Twitter/KKR The two-time IPL champions failed to make it to the playoffs despite playing some incredible cricket late in the league-round. However, they lost a lot more than their shot at winning the title when they experienced a drop from Rs. 629 crore in 2019 to Rs. 543 crore in 2020 in terms of brand value. 1. Chennai Super Kings (-16.5%): © Twitter/CSK The biggest slump however came for the second-most successful team in the history of the league, both in terms of on-field performance and valuation. Even with Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is considered to be a brand in himself, leading the CSK from ahead, became ineffective in terms of protecting the value of his team. At the end of the 2019 season, the runners-up were valued at a whopping Rs. 732 crore. By 2020, the number dropped to Rs. 611 crore - a tough Rs. 121 crore plummet. View the full article
  4. While we have looked into several mysteries and myths in the past, we have often discovered logical explanations for each one of them. The story of the ship named Mary Celeste, on the other hand, continues to remain unsolved over a century and a half later. What’s The Story? In 1872, a double-masted Mary Celeste set sail from New York Harbor towards Genoa, Italy. It was captained by Benjamin S. Briggs, an experienced sailor and with him were his wife, Sarah, their infant daughter Sophia and eight other members of the crew. Their next stop on #TheChase is the Mary Celeste... #London1965#DoctorWho pic.twitter.com/9DcAYz5EK0 — Kippy Woo (@TygerWhoCame2T) August 8, 2020 A month later, this ship was spotted by another sailing vessel of Canadian origin named Dei Gratia sailing through the North Atlantic Ocean, about 645 kilometres away from the Azores, an autonomous region of Portugal. Upon inspection, no sign of human life was found on the brigantine. However, it was stacked with food and water which was later estimated to be enough for over six months of survival. Aside from a missing lifeboat, the ship also looked unscathed. No signs of a natural disaster affecting the ship or a crash were found, which led to one of the most talked-about maritime mysteries of all time - what happened to the Briggs family and the eight crewmembers? Why would they abandon a perfect and damage-free ship? Read more about the weird circumstances surrounding Mary Celeste here: https://t.co/k9OiajACRl#unsolvedmysteries pic.twitter.com/5AYH7egwNT — ScareStreet (@ScareStreet) August 7, 2020 Mary Celeste’s Dark History: The ship, which was originally named Amazon, has been rather infamous throughout its past and is a source of numerous unfortunate events with the crewmembers. Its first captain ever, Captain McLellan mysteriously fell ill during the maiden voyage and his condition continued to worsen as he spent days on the ship. Amazon made its way to Spencer's Island, Nova Scotia, where McLellan died on June 19, 1861. John Nutting Parker, who took the ship’s wheel after the passing of McLellan, also fell prey to a series of misfortunes. First, it collided with fishing equipment at the Eastport, Maine, USA and crashed into another brig in the English Channel. In 1867, the Amazon got completely wrecked by a storm. The damage was so much that the owners had to abandon it on the shore of Cape Breton Island. The wreckage was bought by Alexander McBean who rebuilt the ship and named it Mary Celeste. Ever since, the vessel’s ownership changed a handful of times until it made its way to Benjamin S. Briggs. Proposed Theories: According to old folklore, carnivorous seaweed was said to be responsible for crew disappearances in the 1800s. In 1872, the ship Mary Celeste was found off the coast of Portugal aimlessly floating. Not a single crew member was anywhere to be found. #WyrdWednesday #History pic.twitter.com/tkXK2yBUah — Haunted History BC (@HauntedHistory2) August 5, 2020 Fiction fanatics came up with stories that ranged between a pirate attack and an assault by a giant sea monster. While those who were more scientifically inclined, suggested that mishap had something to do with the fumes from the 1,700 barrels of crude alcohol Mary Celeste was carrying at the time. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the creator of the Sherlock Holmes series, also contributed to the legend when in 1884, he wrote a short story titled J. Habakuk Jephson's Statement suggesting that the Briggs family was slaughtered by an ex-slave in an act of vengeance. In 2007, Channel 4 International came up with a documentary titled The True Story of the Mary Celeste which suggested a rather unexciting theory (although inconclusive), according to which Briggs commanded everyone to abandon ship and row for the land, owing to the disastrous weather and a clogged onboard pump. There have been many stories about this incident. Numerous tabloids have tried to retell the story based on the evidence available onboard but nobody could come up with one satisfying theory. As time passes by and lores about the disappearance of the Briggs family continue to get added to the legend, what truly happened that day continues to be buried deeper and deeper. 5. You know how when you stink so much that you just HAVE to spray on an entire bottle of deodorant on yourself? And, then you actually get in trouble for spraying so much deodorant that even the police gets involved? No? Well, one unlucky kid had to go through all of that. Basically, in Florida, a bunch of students on a school bus complained about a 'noxious' smell, and it was so bad that even the local fire department and emergency medical services came to inspect the 'hazardous material'. Any guess on what it was? Axe body spray, of course! To find the culprit behind the weird smell, Parrish Fire District Division Chief Mike Williamson had to interview all the thirty students that were on board the bus, and well, it didn't take long to find out the one kid smelling like a person who drowned in a tank of body spray. Talking to TODAY, he said, "Once I got down the line, I was able to determine it. Before I could even tell (one student) what I was looking for, I made a motion like I was spraying, and he handed me an empty bottle of the black Axe Body Spray. I could smell it all over him." © Parrish Fire Rescue What's hilarious is that the body spray was so obnoxious that about a third of the students were complaining about respiratory distress. Thankfully, none of them actually needed to go to the hospital. The chief further added, "We had heard reports from other community members that it's somehow a thing with kids spraying it all over each other to smell nice or prank each other. They must have watched a lot of episodes of 'Band of Brothers' because they would not say who did it." Well, at least they had each other's backs and that's what matters. Moral of the story: Spray on deodorant like a normal person, not a rotten fish. View the full article
  6. What's the most bizarre thing you've heard or experienced while boarding an aircraft or sitting inside one? I mean apart from the miles-high club, is there anything else that you may have found funny or alarming? Well, if not, here's something to feast your attention on. A female passenger onboard a PIA flight opened the emergency door thinking it was the toilet and put the entire plane in to a frenzy. The woman had gotten up from her seat to use the toilet when the aircraft was on the runway of the Manchester airport early Saturday morning. She went ahead and pressed the emergency button which opened the exit door to the plane instead. (c)Rueters “The PIA flight, PK 702, from Manchester to Islamabad was delayed by seven hours. The departure was delayed on Friday night when a passenger erroneously opened the emergency exit causing the emergency chute to activate,” A PIA spokesperson told the press. The incident took place when the plane was on the runway, ready to take off and all the passengers had to be offloaded from the plane, and their luggage was removed too. They were given hotels to stay in, as the flight was further delayed for seven hours. All because a woman couldn't read a sign that read 'Exit'. “As per standard operating procedure, the PIA had to offload nearly 40 passengers and their luggage,” - The PIA spokesperson added. (c)Pintrest Deploying an emergency slide during emergencies is not a very cheap ordeal for flights. The flights have to pay a huge amount of money, whenever the emergency chute is deployed, even though the emergency in this case was claimed while the plane was stationary. Well, we can't decide if this incident is funny or rather sad. We do agree the passengers were left in grave inconvenience when their flight was delayed, but people really have to learn to read signs better.
  7. Can you imagine a guy, who was once in a Twilight movie is now a freaking Oscar winner? Yeah, me neither. I feel like no one really remembered Rami Malek playing a vampire in the last Twilight movie, and it's safe to say he's come a long, long way since then. Rami is still being smothered in praises for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and now, he has another incredible role already lined up. Turns out, he's going to play the villain in the next Bond movie. Actually, it's not like his Oscar win had to do anything with him getting the role, the only problem was scheduling, as he had to shoot for 'Mr Robot'. But, now it seems like everything has been figured out and the negotiations are almost done. Get ready, we will probably have a cool new Bond villain soon! Everyone is! Rami Malek going from Freddie Mercury to Bond villain? I'm down for that! https://t.co/mqZJ63mOTw — Tyler Calvert (@Tyler_Calvert23) February 27, 2019 Just to be clear, they wanted him before the Oscar win. They love getting recent Oscar winners for their villains. First Javier Bardem, then Christoph Waltz, now Rami Malek. I dig it. — charley15z (@tcallerman) February 27, 2019 Let him! Please let him wear those Mercury teeth, please let him wear those Mercury teeth, please let him wear those Mercury teeth, please let him wear those Mercury teeth, please let him wear those Mercury teeth, please let him wear those Mercury teeth. https://t.co/d0lzkKx84j — Adam Lowes (@adlow76) February 27, 2019 He would be, tbh. This makes me very happy. I could see Rami Malek becoming an iconic Bond villain given the talent involved in this movie. https://t.co/u9vIoxxecd — Nolan Dean ð(he/him) (@nolandean27) February 28, 2019 Everything is a surprise! Damn, Rami's career is like rocket science. I remember when he was playing as Benjamin in Breaking Dawn. Now he got an Oscar and playing as villain in Bond 25. ðhttps://t.co/Yu8mLTrHEV — Dinda. (@ClaireBearStory) February 27, 2019 I need to check them out now. If you've seen Rami Malek in interviews you'll know he's already a Bond villain. — Dan Marcus (@Danimalish) February 28, 2019 He really is. Awards season made me side eye him, but he's a great actor. I'm into it. https://t.co/DoVqO4rN4G — Ami (@Amic_8197) February 27, 2019 He would be so good. LISTEN I like this. Despite the steaming pile of garbage that is Bohemian Rhapsody, I think that Malek is a very good actor and I definitely think he would make a cool, suave, unpredictable villain. Especially in a Cary Fukunaga movie! https://t.co/fPwfE2xSFa — Mary (@mareli221) February 27, 2019 Yes, everyone. Am I going to watch a Bond movie purely for Rami? Of course https://t.co/pt00ayKnhg — zoe is kinda ia (@arcofagamotto) February 28, 2019 Someone make it happen! Me reading this tweet still waiting for @idriselba to be announced as bond. pic.twitter.com/VGx7juuMpv — Mike Namez (@MikeNamez) February 27, 2019 It would kill it! imagine idris elba as bond and rami malek as the villian... THE FLAVOR https://t.co/2YcFNke6wJ — amber (@tyrellwellthic) February 27, 2019 Can't wait. Rami Malek is rumoured to be the next Bond villain, can't wait for him to add 16 syllables to "Mr Bond" — Cam Williams (@MrCamW) February 28, 2019
  8. File photo. OTTAWA: A passenger was burned when her cell phone caught fire onboard a Canadian domestic flight Thursday morning, officials said. The incident occurred at 1200 GMT as Air Canada flight 101 was preparing to depart the Toronto airport for Vancouver. "The fire was immediately extinguished by crews and there was no damage to the aircraft, however, the owner of the phone suffered injuries and was treated by emergency services who attended the aircraft," Air Canada spokesman Peter Fitzpatrick said. He said the woman was able to walk off the plane in order to be treated for minor burns, but her condition was not immediately known. The Boeing 787 jetliner with 266 passengers, meanwhile, took off after a two-hour delay. The make and model of the phone was not made public.
