  3. MWC 2019 is in full swing and it's all about 5G and foldable phones. Even before the tradeshow started, Samsung announced the Galaxy Fold alongside the S10 and grabbed everyone's attention. This was soon followed by Huawei's Mate X, however, the two folding phones have a different approach and are the hottest products in town. Now, OPPO has also joined the bandwagon and revealed the images of their "concept" folding phones. OPPO VP Brian Shen shared a few pictures of the concept phone on Weibo and said the company isn't planning on shipping the phone unless there is sufficient demand. The most interesting part of the phone is its design though. © Weibo The pictures reveal a phone that looks eerily similar to Huawei's Mate X. A single large OLED panel wraps around both the sides when folded, instead of folding towards the inside (like the Galaxy Fold). A bar on the outside houses a dual camera setup and offers grip in holding the tablet-cum phone. Shen said, that he doesn't think a foldable phone brings significant improvement in user experience and hence OPPO is refraining from mass producing the phone right now. Basically, OPPO intends to let Samsung and Huawei launch their offerings, analyse the market response, and then decide whether the product is viable in short-term. © Weibo Xiaomi has also confirmed that it is working on a foldable phone with dual-fold technology. We've previously seen them teasing a similar prototype, and expect the brand to join the trend in the coming future. OPPO hasn't named the concept yet and even the internal specifications remain unknown. With so many companies trying to make their mark, it's ultimately going to be good for the consumer. Samsung and Huawei are charging upwards of US$ 2,000 (Rs 1,42,000) for the foldable phones right now, and with more companies joining the trend and investing in development, the costs are bound to gradually come down. © Weibo So far, OPPO has announced it will launch a phone with 10x "lossless" zoom technology in the second quarter of this year. The phone will have a triple-lens camera structure including a 48-megapixel main camera, 120-degree ultra-wide lens and a telephoto lens. "Our 10x Lossless Zoom is mass-production-ready and will appear in a product soon," said Chuck Wang, Product Manager, OPPO.
  4. When you venture out to buy yourself a new smartphone, you know it's going to be a long day. With the market being flooded with a sea of options, it makes mobile shopping a Herculean task! But if a smartphone brand that you've loved, far and long- for it's high-end specifications and affordable prices- announces a new launch, you know you only have to pick the right colour that goes with your personality! And rejoice, mobile-shoppers, because OPPO has announced its new series and we are all damn excited to see what it brings home! OPPO We know how OPPO has been one of the most desirable smartphones in budget segments in India. Keeping up with the legacy of churning out the best specs at the best price, the Selfie Expert brings to the country a new series, which has done grandly worldwide! And according to the grapevine, this new launch would have an in-display fingerprint sensor at a cost less than Rs. 20,000! OPPO While OPPO has had a pretty tight stronghold in the offline markets for the past 5 years– and with a potential growth rise from 2.5% in 2016 to 5% in 2020, what else do we say?- , they aim to come out stronger and better to their online customers because "we are the world, we are the future". Everyone in the country has access to the Internet now, which means that not only are the consumers- US- getting more hands-on, easy access to newer products, but also have a fair amount of knowledge with respect to what to buy and what not. And like I said before, OPPO knows this and will never disappoint! OPPO We have seen in the past that OPPO gives full priority to its target audience, that is you and me, and does thorough research before launching new phones. And hence the phones keep getting better and better. The fact that we get a number of high-end technologies at prices that wouldn't burn a big hole in our pockets, is a testimony to the fact that they aim at improving user experiences. From improvised cameras in every newly launched smartphone to smarter charging solutions to suit the needs of us fast-paced millennials. So, let's just say that I cannot wait to get my hands on the new series! What about you?
  5. Remember the Oppo R9 that took the world by storm with its chic metallic red look? This was way back in 2016 when the 'selfie' trend was at its peak. The Oppo R9 was the key player in the selfie revolution with its selfie shooter that supported multiple levels for flashlight and not to forget, the brilliant Beautify 4.0 Mode. From what we remember, at that point, when every other brand was focussing on silver, gold and rose tones, this Chinese smartphone maker shifted its focus to a classic red hue at an affordable budget range. Fast forward to 2017, which marked the entry of the Oppo R11, a smartphone that pioneered the crescent curved design offered at a mid-range price structure. If you ask us, we remember this smartphone for all the right reasons - a spectacular 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED panel, a powerful AI-capable Snapdragon 660 chipset and dual rear cameras with 20MP and 16MP sensors. Speaking of Oppo's 2017 lineup, we cannot ignore the dynamic R15 that went two steps further to introduce the ruby red and cosmic purple gradient colours to spoil us with choices. What's more? Think AI Scene Recognition, Game Acceleration Mode and a Super Full Screen that only made this smartphone bigger and bolder. Glam part aside, Oppo has made a constant effort to up the performance game of the R Series in terms of hardware. In fact, the R15 Pro is the ultimate celebration of that notion with its latest Qualcomm Snapdragon processors, large storage, impressive battery life and a technology that has quite literally been a life saviour, the VOOC Flash Charging that ensures you can charge your phone in a flash and it will last throughout the day. In India though, the last R Series that graced the showrooms was the R7 (Lite and Plus) in 2015. Yes, it has been a while! What's the good news? Well, the R Series is now making a huge comeback to India with the R17 Pro and we cannot really keep our calm for the big reveal. Are you as excited as we are?
  6. Adding the smart to the smartphones, tech giant OPPO has constantly been improvising on its AI features and technology to add something new to the market. While they have exclusively created quite a big market for themselves as the unquestionable selfie experts, there is a lot more that they are venturing into. And that brings us to their latest power move – the flagship killer, OPPO Find X. If you haven't heard yet, here's the breaking news – after a global launch of the OPPO Find X last month, the smartphone has finally made its way to India and we couldn't be more excited. To simply break it down for you, the OPPO Find X is going to be a game changer for the company. They are pushing the boundaries of technology and offering things that you won't find in your otherwise smartphone favourites. So, let's find out the big 5 moves that are changing the game! OPPO 1. The Notch Is Replaced By A Slider Camera To add a greater screen to body ratio, they have decided to do away with the notch altogether. A move that competing smartphone companies haven't tried yet. The notch has been replaced by a motorised camera sliding mechanism that slides up within 0.5 seconds every time you want to take a picture or unlock the phone using face recognition. The makers have also done away with the fingerprint scanner to extend the body-to-screen ratio, which means the camera slider will pop up every time you need to unlock your phone. 2. Not Just Selfie Experts! OPPO is the segment leader when it comes to selfie cameras, but with this premium range, they have gone a step ahead to give you the complete package. The OPPO Find X has a dual-camera setup on the slider with a 16 and 20-megapixel rear camera that supports AI Portraits and scene recognition. And playing to their field, the selfie camera boasts of a 25-megapixel snapper with a f/2.0 aperture. Cloudinary.com 3. The Exterior Design Is A Beauty As mentioned earlier, by doing away with the notch, the 6.4 inch AMOLED display boasts of a 93.8 percent screen-to-body ratio and tiny bezels. Adding finesse to the look is the back body made of glass and available in the Glacier Blue and Bordeaux Red colours. 4. Fast Charging, Upgraded Software! Reducing the hours spend charging your phone every day, OPPO has powered its premium smartphone with a 3730mAh battery that supports VOOC fast charging via USB-C. What's more is that the phone is powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset along with 8GB RAM and 256 GB storage. It runs on ColorsOS 5.1 that is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. OPPO 5. 3D Structured Light Face Recognition Unlocking all your answers, OPPO Find X boasts of a 3D structured light face recognition technology that enables a user to unlock your phone in an instant, with greater safety as compared to a fingerprint scanner. One can simply use eye contact to activate the phone and get set going! With a laser generator projecting over 18,000 recognition spots on a human face, the mechanism builds a precise and complete 3D facial model of the user, to accurately identify the user's characteristics and instantly unlock the phone. The infrared light in the phone also makes the system capable of accurate recognition even at night. OPPO With more than one powerful move, OPPO is set to break the Indian smartphone market! Priced at Rs 59,990, the #OPPOFindX will hit the online markets on 3rd August and we can't wait to #FindMore!
  7. OPPO launched the Find X globally last month and the phone has already made its way to India. This is the first time OPPO is launching a premium smartphone in India. Actually, it's not just premium but also features one of the most innovative concepts we've seen in modern smartphones. Commenting on this launch, Charles Wong, OPPO Assistant Vice President & OPPO India President, said “As a brand, OPPO strives to offer products that can resonate with consumers combining superior aesthetics, technology and quality. The Find series represents OPPO's passionate and innovative spirit that believes that a smartphone isn't just a communication tool but also a piece of art. Hence the Find X, a result of careful deliberation, testing and refinement, aims to offer our Indian consumers a premium, innovative and technologically advanced offering for an advanced smartphone experience.” The Find X features a motorised camera slider mechanism that houses both the front and rear cameras. Whenever you open the camera or want to unlock the phone, the slider pops up in 0.5 seconds. In recent times we've seen companies adopting the notch to offer maximum screen-to-body ratio, as the notch can house the front camera, sensors, and earpiece. To remove the notch, OPPO added both, the rear as well as the front camera, along with sensors on the slider. Companies have often tried to avoid moving parts as they not only increase the fragility of the phone but also have higher chances of malfunctioning. OPPO has also added an infrared sensor on the top that 3D scans the users face for secure authentication. This system was the first seen on board the iPhone X and performs much better than camera-based Face Unlock. The Find X does not have a fingerprint scanner, hence the slide module will pop-up every time you need to unlock the phone. © BCCL Now coming to the exterior design, OPPO has simply done a marvelous job. The 6.5-inch AMOLED display has a 93.8 percent screen-to-body ratio and tiny bezels. The back is made of glass and the phone is available in Glacier Blue and Bordeaux Red colours. © BCCL The Find X sports a dual-camera setup at the rear of the slider with a 16 + 20-megapixel primary and secondary lens that supports AI Portraits and Scene Recognition. There is also a 25-megapixel selfie snapper at the front with a f/2.0 aperture. OPPO has also added Omoji' which are OPPO's version of Apple's Animoji. © BCCL The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset along with 8GB RAM and 256GB non-expandable storage. It runs on ColorOS 5.1 that is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Backing these internals is a 3730mAh battery that supports VOOC fast charging via USB-C. In India, the phone is priced at Rs 59,990 and will be available for purchase starting August 3rd exclusively on Flipkart.
  8. There's no escaping social media. Whether you're at a restaurant, travelling or just going for your morning run, all millennials want is wi-fi for their smartphone and a constant supply of enjoyable life experiences. The one thing that our millennial generation is absolutely obsessed with is their love for clicking selfies which results in subsequent likes on social media. Getting that perfect 'display picture worthy' photo is one of the main criterion before buying a new phone. A phone which not only boasts of having a superb camera lens, but also an innovative inbuilt beauty feature which is too good to ignore. But where can we find this phone? Well, OPPO F7 is all that and much more. Your personal beauty artist, this 25 MP Al-powered selfie camera is your gateway to beautiful selfies like never before. This camera phone captures the very essence of you by using Al beauty and sensor HD technologies, making you bring out your flawless best in photos. This video by OPPO is perfectly in tune with what our generation wants- a phone that suits our personal style!
  9. OPPO has announced their latest smartphone for 2018, the F7. The device is a successor to the OPPO F5 which was launched last year around the same time. The smartphone will be available for purchase in India from 9th April 2018 onwards and will retail for INR 21,990. OPPO has been known for its camera-centric AI-based "beauty recognition" feature from its F5 smartphone and the new F7 features the second iteration of the technology. The AI technology will also help the phone perform 80 percent better than its predecessor F5, the company claimed. Now, the OPPO F7 features second-generation AI Beauty 2.0. It also features a 25MP front camera with Sensor High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology, plus new features including Cover Shot and AR (Augmented Reality) Stickers. “Our focus has always been on bringing the best photography and Selfie experience to the Indian consumers. We have been leading the Selfie industry in the Indian market with our Selfie Expert F series for which we have received immense response, especially from the youth. With the launch of F7 in India, we will further strengthen our stance as 'The Selfie Expert and Leader' and truly represent our ambition to continue being the leaders in the market.” said Sky Li, Global VP, OPPO and President of OPPO India © Oppo Similar to the Vivo V9, it also features a notch. OPPO F7 comes with a 6.2-inch FHD+ Full View display with 89.09 percent screen-to-body ratio and a resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The screen has an aspect ratio of 19:9. OPPO has introduced its new 'Notch Assistant' feature that gives users access to gestures to swiftly navigate between apps. In fact, while the phone offers such a large display, the body of the phone is smaller than a typical 5.5-inch screen phone. The phone itself comes with a metal unibody design that adds to its premium look at feel. © Oppo The AI technology also powers the F7s system management. The AI Manager allocates the processing power of the 64-bit MediaTek Helio P60 Octa-core processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage (6GB for the 128GB version) while making sure the phone runs 80 percent better than its predecessor. The device is backed by a 3,400mAh battery. On the software front, it runs Android-based Color OS 5.0. In addition to the fingerprint scanner, it also features a Face Unlock feature.
  10. Oppo is one of the prominent smartphone makers in China and the company is also known for making selfie-centric smartphones in India. The company launched its R15 smartphone and its design aesthetics resemble the rumoured design on OnePlus 6 quite a bit. Last year the company launched the Oppo R11 and the OnePlus 5 borrowed the same design so it is possible that the OnePlus 6 might look like the Oppo R15. It is worth noting that OnePlus, Oppo, and Vivo fall under the umbrella of BBK Electronics, and the designs of their smartphones are usually similar in appearance. As you can see in these images, the Oppo R15 isn't entirely an iPhone X ripoff. The phone's display doesn't extend to all four corners, and the rear camera isn't positioned vertically, although it is indeed a dual-lens shooter. © OPPO There have been a few rumours regarding the OnePlus 6 doing the rounds. Most notable of them being that the smartphone could sport a display notch much like the iPhone X and a bunch of other Android smartphones since. Other than that, the OnePlus 6 will pack in some hardware to keep the phone on the same playing field as other flagship smartphones this year. The OnePlus 6 is rumoured to have a 19:9 notched display, according to a leak from earlier this month spotted by Android Central. Likewise, the R15 has a notch that imitates the iPhone X's look, hinting that the OnePlus 6 might also sport an interesting haircut. © MensXP The rest of the R15's specs include a 6.28-inch, 2280 x 1080 OLED panel with slim bezels, a 3,450mAh battery, and a MediaTek Helio P60 processor; it'll sell for around $475 USD. © OPPO Certainly, the innards of the OnePlus 6 will be different from that of the Oppo R15. As the company has already announced that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 845 processor and will have an alert slider. But, it is definitely possible that the smartphone will look exactly like the Oppo R15.
  11. Last year, ZTE announced the Axon M, its first foldable smartphone. Although the phone is foldable, the screen technically isn't as the Axon M uses two displays that are connected via a hinge. There have also been reports suggesting that Samsung plans to mass produce foldable or flexible displays by September and maybe even assemble a device by 2019. As per a recent report, Oppo has recently patented a new smartphone design, which reveals the possibility of a foldable phone. It has an outward hinge that, once unfolded, will act as a part of the screen. On further analyzing the images, it looks like Oppo has envisioned this device like a book and the device folds inwards and it kind of looks like a phone with a one-sided curved display. On one side, we can make out a vertically arranged dual camera system and on the other side is a cut-out with the same shape as the camera housing. We also noticed a dual camera setup on the rear when it is in the unfolded mode. As per the patent, when folded, one of the sides can be used for making calls, while the other can be used for taking selfies with the front camera and what appears to be an LED flash. Also to be noted are the top and bottom bezels seen in the patent illustrations, which are quite noticeable. The side bezels, however, look thin and one of them will be literally non-existent when the phone is folded in its standard form. It's also worth mentioning that unlike ZTE Axon M, there seems to be no visible gap or crevice at the point of folding in Oppo's patented design since the display is a single large foldable unit. © ZTE Axon M, Picture by ZTE Samsungs Koh Dong-jin also confirmed in September last year that Samsung is going to launch a foldable smartphone in the first half of 2018. No further information was provided about the device at that time but it did reveal that the company was developing this product in the pipeline and that it would launch eventually. These patent images from Oppo do look very interesting but are only for illustration purposes. It will be interesting to see whether Oppo comes up with such a device in the future. The developments in display technology hint that such devices are not very far away. Experts, however, believe that it will take more time before the technology is fully perfected. 12. Smartphones with a full frontal display are becoming the norm and that's exactly what OPPO has done with their latest device. We got an early look at the upcoming smartphone and the near bezel-less display is not the only feature that impressed us. © MensXP-Akshay Bhalla The F5 has a 6-inch display and has an 18:9 aspect ratio in tandem with most smartphones that have a similar display. The F5 also has a resolution of 1080 X 2160 pixels (~402 ppi density). When compared to its predecessors, we can confidently say that OPPO has taken a huge step forward when it comes to general design and display. The 6-inch display leaves almost no room for bezels, which means it gives you more real estate to enjoy your content. The 6-inch display is one of our favourite features of the smartphone. During our initial tests, the colours were very vivid, rich and accurate. Design and Build Quality © YouTube During the course of our usage, we noticed the smartphone is very well-made and is premium quality when compared to other smartphones within the same category. It is light and easy to handle, even though it has a 6-inch screen. The fingerprint scanner has now been moved to the back which makes it more accessible. The obvious design change is the removal of the bezels and gives us a screen that makes using the smartphone a total delight. The F5 brought back the triple slot tray i.e. you can use two micro-sims and a microSD card at the same time. Camera Performance © MensXP-Akshay Bhalla There are plenty of smartphones out there that can take incredible pictures, but there are very few smartphones that can do a decent job at taking selfies. The F5's marquee feature is its selfie camera and the AI (Artificial Intelligence) beauty recognition technology. The selfie camera has a 20-megapixel sensor that aids in taking some remarkable pictures. Pictures that look so good are partly because of the AI (Artificial Intelligence) beauty recognition technology that enhances your selfies in a realistic and natural way. I'm not a big fan of taking selfies but after testing out the selfie camera on the F5, I kind of found myself taking more pictures of myself than normal. The OPPO F5 makes enhancements to your face that does not look simulated and give the best possible output. The primary shooter has a 16-megapixel shooter and has an aperture of f/1.8 which aids in low-light photography. The F5 is also capable of taking portrait shots i.e. with the bokeh effect that essentially blurs out the background while keeping the subject in focus. What's impressive is that the F5 does not sport a second camera sensor to achieve and does it purely with software manipulation. We are very satisfied with the results as it could easily pick out my subject and blur the rest of the background easily. Here are some of our camera samples from both front and rear cameras. © MensXP-Akshay Bhalla As you can see our subject had spots and blemishes before she tried out the selfie mode with the Beauty mode one. The picture on the right clearly shows how the AI beauty recognition technology could remove it with effectively and still keep a natural look intact. Here are some more selfie and primary camera samples for your reference: © MensXP-Akshay Bhalla © MensXP-Akshay Bhalla © MensXP-Akshay Bhalla © MensXP-Akshay Bhalla © MensXP-Akshay Bhalla OPPO F5 specs: • Octa Core MediaTek MT6763T (Helio P23) processor • Mali G71 MP2 graphics • 4GB RAM • 64GB internal memory expandable via microSD up to 256GB • 6-inch Full HD IPS LCD display (2160 x 1080 pixels • 16 megapixel rear facing camera with PDAF and LED flash (f/1.8 aperture) • 20-megapixel front-facing camera (f/2.0 aperture) • Dual SIM, Dual Standby • 4G/LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth Fingerprint Scanner • GPS, A-GPS • 3,200 mAh battery • Android 7.1 Nougat with ColorOS 3.2 The verdict so far… The OPPO F5 is a great smartphone that has the same characteristics as a premium smartphone but, for a reasonable price. The marquee feature is the AI-enabled front camera that makes this smartphone a true selfie expert. The smartphone performs fast and well when it comes to carrying out daily tasks and multi-tasking. There aren't many smartphones in the category that can deliver great performance and take near-perfect selfies. The F5 is also the first smartphone that features a near bezel-less display that is at par with current premium devices. Consuming videos, content and gaming is a delight on the F5 thanks to the 18:9 aspect ratio. If you are a fan of taking selfies and want a smartphone that is powerful, the buck stops here. The whole issue was due to the miscommunication between the two parties. The service team was upset over the manager being asked to tender his resignation because of inadequate work performance after several formal warnings for the same. But later, a consensus was reached and the concerned service team is continuing to work with us. OPPO has deep respect for India, its culture and our employees. He (name of HOD yet to be identified) always disrespect our India Country & our culture. As per him we Indian only work for Money, & we are not having any dignity & self-respect. He always makes us unnecessary penalty & wrong commitment. He makes us work till late night & if we miss any report he creates penalty. There are a lot of other reasons too, but this kind of hitlership is not accepted any stage of private sector. So kindly accept our resignation." 14. Every phone manufacturer is announcing a new phone at the Mobile World Conference; however, Oppo’s announcement didn't actually involve a real phone. It might look like a phone because it is a prototype, but Oppo chose to show off their brand new ‘imagine’ technology. The company claims it has achieved something that no other phone manufacturer can, i.e. bring back 5x zoom to a phone camera without adding a camera bump. They have managed to do that by including two lenses much like the iPhone 7 Plus which are placed at two different focal points. © Oppo Oppo says that the new system is inspired from submarine periscopes, as the lens can move sideways and also make 90-degree shifts. As you zoom in to take a picture, the optical image stabilisation kicks in so that it would enable you to take steady and clear pictures. Oppo calls this system ‘Lossless Zoom’ and they claim that the company does a better job than most phone cameras when it comes to zooming in without degrading the quality. © Oppo If the claims are true, it essentially means that this new system can zoom in far beyond even the iPhone 7 Plus which only has a 2x secondary camera. The reason why it is important for the second sensor to take non-blurry photos is because even the slightest of movements can be picked up at when magnified at such levels. If this technology works as claimed, it will be a game changer for the smartphone industry as a whole since most smartphones are not known for taking high fidelity pictures when zoomed in. Optical zoom has been ever present on traditional cameras for the longest time and has been one of the biggest factors in differentiation when comparing the two.
