  7. For most days, online shopping in India can be a trustworthy experience but you do tend to hear off the cuff cases that leaves you speechless. This is one such case where a customer ordered an iPhone 12 from an e-commerce website worth Rs 53,000 and ended up getting a soap bar instead that’s worth Rs 5. © YouTube/GoAndroid Simranpal Singh ordered the iPhone 12, thanks to a price cut during the festive season thinking he invested in a smartphone that will last him for years. However, when the package arrived, he was shocked to discover that his newly bought iPhone 12 had been replaced with a soap bar instead. He recorded the entire process of opening the package and uploaded the video to YouTube. He tried to get customer service of the e-commerce website to admit to their mistake so that he could initiate a refund or a replacement. It took him several attempts to finally get the e-commerce website to own up to the mistake and has now been given a refund. "The customer service denied that the product had been delivered since it showed ‘Out for delivery’ in their system. However, the behaviour of the logistics team troubled me more, as they called me again to get the OTP or Mobile Number after 'failed' delivery. It raised alarm and suspicion, which further led to 2-3 hours full of stress," he wrote in the video's description. One way to circumvent a situation like this is to opt for an ‘open-box delivery’ on e-commerce platforms. This prevents delivery agents from replacing your expensive orders with something like a soap bar or a brick. In addition, you can also open the package in front of the delivery agent while capturing a video so that you have all the proof you need to initiate a refund, replacement or make a complaint with the consumer court if the problem is not resolved smoothly. Has something like this ever happened to you where the final delivery was replaced by a daily object or something you didn’t order? Let us know in the comments what you think of instances like these popping up. View the full article
  8. A man in the United Kingdom shopping at a local Tesco supermarket was left stunned after ordering a bag of apples. He was caught by surprise as the supermarket substituted a bag of apples with a brand new iPhone. © Twitter_Nick James Nick James collected his groceries from a local Tesco Extra in Twickenham and was told by the staff that there was a “surprise” in his bag. Mr James was left stunned after he found a brand new iPhone SE in his bag. He told the Mirror: “I was half expecting the surprise to be an Easter egg or something - I was a little bit shocked, to say the least.” A big thanks this week to @Tesco & @tescomobile. On Wednesday evening we went to pick up our click and collect order and had a little surprise in there - an Apple iPhone SE. Apparently we ordered apples and randomly got an apple iphone! Made my sons week! #tesco #substitute pic.twitter.com/Mo8rZoAUwD — Nick James (@TreedomTW1) April 10, 2021 Tesco Supermarkets also have a subsidiary business i.e. Tesco Mobile which is giving away free iPhones, AirPods and Samsung devices as a part of a promotional campaign this week. The campaign involves substituting people’s groceries with gadgets and has been aptly called the “super substitutes” promotion. © Twitter_Nick James Other lucky customers have also received substitutes such as a brand new Samsung Galaxy S21 in place of Galaxy chocolates. a Motorola E7 instead of a bread roll and an iPhone 12 Mini instead of Mini Cheddar cheese. That’s exactly what happened with a little girl when she tried to order a packet of chicken cutlets, rice, and French fries for herself and her grandmother. The delivery app she ordered from malfunctioned and due to technical glitches, the 7-year-old ended up ordering the same order 42 times. The parents of the little kid were away for work and they left her with a smartphone to order food for both of them. But, the delivery debacle happened due to an honest mistake by the little one. The whole incident was recorded and was posted by a neighbor on a Facebook post who said the child looked upset and was on the verge of crying when she realized the glitch and has caused the mistake. Check out the post here- This happened due to poor internet connection and the little girl ended up tapping on the app’s order button many times and as the app was malfunctioning, the order was placed 42 times. The girl didn’t realize but the delivery person ended up dropping the packets one by one. The whole order ended up summing to a huge amount of Rs 13,000 and left the girl feeling helpless. However, all the neighbors came together to buy the excess orders by the delivery persons and made sure they did not return home without money for the packets. Also, they made sure they did not have to pay for so many food packets all alone. View the full article

I think everyone, including the mysterious Kiki herself, is as done with the stupid 'Kiki Challenge' as I am, and we just want the internet to move on to the next trend and let this one die a peaceful death. But, as sick of it as we are, it's nothing compared to how much the different police departments in our country have come to hate this viral challenge. I mean, after all the PSAs and tweets warning against it, people still don't get it and continue to put their life in danger for some views online. Now, even the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has had to step in to save people from killing themselves. Recently, a video on the YouTube channel 'Funcho Entertainment' caused a lot of problems for the people running the channel. The 'Kiki Challenge' video posted by Nishant Rajendra Shah (20), Dhruv Anil Shah (23), and Shyam Rajkumar Sharma (24) was considered so dangerous, that all three of them were actually arrested. Side note – the video currently has over 2 million views, so you know stupidity is actually rewarding. It's such a sad world we live in. The part that caused the controversy was when they were dancing to the song in a moving train at Virar station's Platform No. 1. I don't even have to explain how unsafe that is. YouTube A Western Railways official said, “We will take legal action against Dhruv Shah as Funcho Entertainment belongs to him and even he is featured in this video. Making such videos on local trains is illegal.” Twitter And now, the action has been taken as promised and boy, it's a good one. The punishment is so hilarious yet appropriate, and it honestly seems like the best course of action The three were given a penalty for breaking the law at the Vasai railway court, and have been ordered to do the following: - Clean up the Vasai railway station three times this week, - Visit the stations from 11 am to 2 pm and from 3 to 5 pm to prevent other commuters from practising such stunts, - Film themselves raising awareness against such stunts and show it as proof to the court. The culprits have not yet given any statement regarding this but they did write “Everything is fine guys. We're all good. You'll get all the updates of what exactly happened and everything in one of our upcoming video. Till then stay tuned,” in the description of their video. People are loving this punishment and sharing on Twitter how brilliant it is. Truly a brilliant judgement. Clean the railway station for three days. ð No sarcasm, no jokes. I truly appreciate this decision. Simply wish for more such judgements for other petty crimes. #india #kikichallenge #india #Mumbaihttps://t.co/A67nC7xeD4 pic.twitter.com/Dn487WUmG1 — Anirudh (@rudha13) August 9, 2018 This is kind of funny. Next time while boarding a running train, please dont smile. #KikiChallenge #ARRESTED https://t.co/N5Md3iTKbF — Siddhesh Shirwadkar (@PrimeOneSid) August 9, 2018 And, don't forget. We love your safety and can't leave it to be decided by Kiki! #GetInToTheCar #kikiChallenge #InMySafetyFeelings pic.twitter.com/OqOgmPgJA6 — Mumbai Police (@MumbaiPolice) August 2, 2018

  16. Samsung has to pay Apple $539 million for infringing a total of five patents with smartphones that were sold by the South Korean company in 2010 and 2011. The legal fight has been taking place for over seven years and the court has finally come to a conclusion. © YouTube The decision was unanimous in the US District Court in San Jose, which is in the heart of the Silicon Valley. The case involved two of the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world where the two companies have been in battle since 2011. Samsung will have to pay $533,316,606 for infringing three Apple design patents and the remaining $5,325,050 will be paid for copying two utility patents. “We believe deeply in the value of design, and our teams work tirelessly to create innovative products that delight our customers,” Apple said in a statement given to Bloomberg. “This case has always been about more than money.” Bloomberg pointed out that the jury was trying to determine whether Samsung owed Apple money based on the components that infringed or based on sales of their smartphones. © YouTube Apple initially demanded Samsung to pay $2.5 billion when the lawsuit was first filed in 2011. However, that figure was later reduced to $1 billion in 2012. An appeal in court later ruled Apple could not legally trademark the appearance of the iPhone which resulted in Samsung to play only $548 million in 2015. Samsung and Apple argued in the week-long trial over the meaning of “article of manufacture.” Apple claims that design patents included the look of the entire iPhone design and the article of manufacture being the entire Samsung smartphone. Samsung argues that patents cover very specific parts of the smartphone which includes the bezel, front glass and display. Apple argued that Samsung should compensate with all profits that were made with the smartphones in question whereas Samsung said it should only be forced to pay damages on the value of the three components.
