  2. Virat Kohlihas been around for a really long time as ‘The Man’ for the Indian cricket team and made a special place for himself among the most well-respected captains the Men in Blue have played under. But when it came to Rishabh Pant and him being given the responsibility to lead the Delhi Capitals franchise after Shreyas Iyer was ruled out for the season with a shoulder injury, not many were in its favour. ANNOUNCEMENT Rishabh Pant will be our Captain for #IPL2021 @ShreyasIyer15 has been ruled out of the upcoming season following his injury in the #INDvENG series and @RishabhPant17 will lead the team in his absence 🧢#YehHaiNayiDilli — Delhi Capitals (Stay Home. Wear Double Masks) (@DelhiCapitals) March 30, 2021 As the Indian Premier League 2021 moved on to its second leg in Ahmedabad, the notions around Pant’s captaincy has changed drastically. Fans have started to support him and the kind of respect senior members of the community have for him now is evident in their eyes. The final few overs at the end of the clash between Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore and Pant’s Delhi Capitals had some of the best cricket we have seen this season so far. What. A. Match!@RCBTweets prevail by 1 run. With 6 needed off the final ball, Pant hits a boundary but @DelhiCapitals fall short by a whisker. Siraj does well under pressure. Hetmyer and Pant are distraught. https://t.co/NQ9SSSBbVT #DCvRCB #VIVOIPL pic.twitter.com/ju87soRG6B — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 27, 2021 Shemron Hetmyer punished Kyle Jamieson with three sixes in an over, while Pant, despite having a wondrous start to the innings, began to play second-fiddle. Although both batsmen were able to score half-centuries, the final six deliveries bowled by Mohammed Siraj became the talk of the town. Kohli had walked up to Siraj, gave him the ball and showed his trust in him when DC needed just 14 runs off 6 deliveries to grab the win. And the pacer did not disappoint. One after the other, Siraj would continue to aim for the block hole, making it practically impossible for Pant to swing for the boundaries. View this post on Instagram His bowling was so efficient that Pant was visibly frustrated and infuriated with himself when he was not able to hit the final six on the last ball and DC ended up losing the match. The competition was over. This is where things get even better. Instead of celebrating with his team, Kohli could be seen rushing towards Pant and Hetmyer to console them and tell them that they did great to bring the match to such an exciting finish, especially when they looked nowhere close to reaching the target just a couple of overs ago. Looking at the sportsmanship and the camaraderie between two of the finest batsmen of the Indian cricket team at the moment, Head Coach Ravi Shastri expressed his pride as well: Brilliant game last night. Seeds being sowed for a potentially new winner to emerge #IPL2021 @IPL pic.twitter.com/A0RKnI0y4S — Ravi Shastri (@RaviShastriOfc) April 28, 2021 “Brilliant game last night. Seeds being sowed for a potentially new winner to emerge,” he wrote. Here’s is how the fans joined in: Present Captain to Future Captain!! — SHIBLI SHAILENDRA (@SHIBLISHAILEND2) April 28, 2021Like @SGanguly99 said, RP will break all records. He is a future India captain in the making. — Visvanathan Sathappan (@VishSathappan) April 28, 2021Absolutely correct. How much this captaincy role will enhance his skills when he plays for India. — Simpleman (@amitspurlink) April 28, 2021Congratulations Coach.. Credit goes to you and your team efforts for the Development of Pant and Siraj. They are just different players since Australian tour. — Cricket Talks (@Cricktalks007) April 28, 2021 View the full article
  3. Apple finally released the new iOS 14.5 update for iPhone devices that have rolled out features we’ve been waiting for for a while. Important updates such as unlocking the iPhone while wearing a Facebook with an Apple Watch was also part of the new update. Other features such as the ability to track AirTags is also part of the update. However, the most important feature to roll out is Apple’s new ‘App Tracking Transparency’ where it identifies apps that track your data inside the app and also outside of them. This is particularly bad news for Facebook and other apps that track your activity on other apps such as Amazon and serve you advertisements in return. © Apple Before the latest update, you could disable tracking on all of your apps but now the new update gives users more control. You will need to head to Settings > Privacy > Tracking and turn off ‘Allow Apps to Request to Track’ if you do not wish to be asked by Apps to give permission for tracking. If You can also be more specific and only allow certain apps to track you. When you install new apps, you will be prompted automatically asking whether you want the new app to track you or not. If you already have apps like Facebook installed on your phone, you will need to delete and reinstall them in order to have the prompt pop up. © Apple Many apps track activity for targeted advertising and now after the iOS 14.5 update, these apps must ask for user permission first. If denied, these apps will no longer have access to the phone’s IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers). Apple made it clear to developers with a document stating “To request permission to track the user and access the device’s advertising identifier, use the AppTrackingTransparency framework. You must also include a purpose string in the system prompt that explains why you’d like to track the user. Unless you receive permission from the user to enable tracking, the device’s advertising identifier value will be all zeros and you may not track them”. Apple is not looking to end targeted advertisements on iPhones but instead, give more control to users in allowing which apps can track you. Of course, the new update was a major concern for Facebook as its entire business model depends on targeted advertising. The company has been very vocal about the new feature however that did not stop Apple from rolling out the new ‘App Tracking Transparency’ feature. View the full article
  4. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has come a long way since the first Iron Man movie which came out in 2008 and has enjoyed global fame since then. One of their biggest fan-following comes from India so it is only obvious that the guys in the studios try to give us a shoutout from time to time. Here are the five major Indian references made in The Avengers and other MCU Movies: 1. Bruce Banner In Kolkata - The Avengers (2012) At the very beginning of The Avengers, Natasha Romanoff is given the task of locating Bruce Banner, who was trying to keep his calm in the “slums of Kolkata” and looking after the sick. 2. Terror Attack In Mumbai - Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) At the near end of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Alexander Pierce tries to explain his plan to the World Security Council and talks to Councilman Singh dirently. Pierce asks him if he will be willing to use the S.H.I.E.L.D.’s resources to deal with a situation in which Pakistan attacks Mumbai. 3. Tony Stark Attends Indian Wedding - Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) Although Robert Doney Jr. wasn’t really in India, the moment in the very first Spidey movie as an MCU product in which Stark is in the middle of an Indian wedding, surely surprised a lot of Indian fans. 4. ‘Glory To Hanuman’ - Black Panther (2018) When M’Baku makes his first appearance to challenge T'Challa for the throne, he says “Glory To Hanuman” signifying that the people of his Jabari tribe were the devotees of the Hindu god. However, the Indian Censor Board felt that this reference might hurt people’s religious sentiments and decided to bleep the god’s name from the film. 5. ‘Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom Baba’ - Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017) This last one’s a bit tricky. While Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 didn’t really have any Indian reference, one of their marketing campaigns involved redoing the movie trailer with 1980’s superhit song Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom Baba. While this experiment received mixed reactions from the fans, the film did exceedingly well in India and it is safe to say that the marketing stunt paid off. 7. Beards are notoriously fickle—from maintaining the right style and length to dealing with your genes. And while growing up managing facial hair wasn’t exactly a part of the curriculum either. So making decisions about shaving can open you up to a plethora of grooming questions. What kind of trimmer should I use? How often should I shave? Which beard oil is right for me? Am I using the right kind of shampoo to clean my beard? And why, oh God why, does it never stop itching? Overwhelming, isn’t it? And finally, when you get it right, something goes wrong. Probably because of these bad beard habits you didn’t know you were making. __ECOMLOOKS__2857__ __ECOMLOOKS__2858__ __ECOMLOOKS__2859__ __ECOMLOOKS__2860__ __ECOMLOOKS__2861__ The BottomlineThese habits may seem harmless but their impact is not. By making small changes in your grooming routine, you can achieve the beard you’ve always wanted and save yourself from troubles like beard dandruff, itching and acne. 8. Remember the popular scene from the Bollywood rom-com Pyaar Ka Punchnama where an irritated Chiku (Nushrat Bharucha) asks Anshu (Kartik Aaryan) to CONCENTRATE, as she explains him different shades of pink? Raise your hand if you relate to an Anshu and don't know about the different pink or pastel shades. Also, raise your other hand if you have been calling all checkered patterns in different shapes and sizes as checks. Now, if both your hands are up give yourself a high-five, because you are not alone. Men’s wardrobe often is stuffed with shirts and trousers in all types of checks, but they perhaps don’t know what a particular pattern is called. Here’s our guide on different kinds of checkered patterns and ways to incorporate it in your staple wardrobe. 1. Graph CheckGraph check is the most basic type of check pattern that has evenly shaped checks formed by thin bands of a single colour on a light fabric looking just like a graph paper. A type, we feel, is soothing to look at and is perfect for the summer season. Add a laid-back vibe to your weekend look by bringing in this cotton shirt to your collection. Accentuate your look with dark coloured trousers or chino shorts and loafers. __ECOMPRODUCT__1402__ 2. Plaid Or TartanPlaid, also called Tartan has bold colourful stripes criss crossing each other, usually in muted tones. Men often call anything plaid as flannel but flannel is the name of the soft woven fabric on which plaid pattern is made. With lockdowns and quarantining making lazy dressing more socially acceptable, opting for something like this super stylish and comfortable night suit set would be an investment. __ECOMPRODUCT__496__ 3. HoundstoothHoundstooth, a popular pattern often spotted in furnishing upholstery, suit fabrics and long coats is a pattern formed by broken or uneven checks that resemble a dog’s tooth. If you are kicked to own something in this very English checkered pattern, a bomber jacket would be a valuable addition to your staple wardrobe. __ECOMPRODUCT__785__ 4. GinghamTraditionally used for making table linens and aprons, Gingham check has a full pattern of checks in two or more small similar sized squares – one colour is always white and the other often is a shade of red, green, or blue. Considering the ever rising COVID cases around the nation, investing in bandana masks would be a wise choice and a fun way to bring a little bit of gingham to your everyday dressing. __ECOMPRODUCT__1403__ 5. Shepherd’s CheckThis pattern is quite similar to gingham check but is usually a black and white pattern. Shepherd check is often set against twill fabric. Give a summer spin to your shepherd check dressing with this long cotton shirt. Pair this piece with ripped denim and casual sneakers and rock this pick of the season with confidence and style. __ECOMPRODUCT__1404__ 6. Argyle ChecksUsually spotted in socks and sweaters, this is an allover pattern of diamonds overlapping on a woven fabric. An evergreen pattern, anything in an argyle check can work as a staple piece in your wardrobe. Consider this blue argyle checked shirt featuring a cutaway collar and curved hem to add oodles of style to your casual look. Layer this shirt with a classic black t-shirt and washed denims to steal the show. __ECOMPRODUCT__1405__ 7. Pin Or Mini CheckSimilar to gingham and shepherd check, this pattern has pin-sized thick stripes crossing each other very closely, forming checks that look like dots from a distance. If you don’t wanna fully commit to mini check pieces, consider this smart shirt with mini check patch detailing. From a night party to summer lunch dates, this shirt teamed well with your favourite denims will suit all your occasions well. __ECOMPRODUCT__1406__ 8. Madras CheckSimilar to that of plaid and tartan, Madras check is a pattern with uneven checks formed by thick bands of bright colours crossing each other. A shirt in Madras check can do wonders to your layer dressing game. Throw it on an all-white outfit to work a summer look or an all-black outfit to make the look more evening friendly. __ECOMPRODUCT__1407__ 9. Windowpane CheckWindowpane checkered patterns have thin stripes crossing each other to form patterns of pane on a window. Add dollops of brightness to your quarantine wardrobe or a boring Google meet with this red windowpane check shirt. A peppy number that's handy across the calendar year, we feel. __ECOMPRODUCT__1408__ The BottomlineChecks make for an essential part of a man’s wardrobe and a little knowledge about what your favourite checkered pattern is called will only make your staple wardrobe building process easy. The names of how many of these ‘checks’ did you already know? Tell us in the comments below. Explore More View the full article
  9. The match between the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders ended up with fans on both sides of the competition as despite restricting the reigning champions to a nominal 152 runs in the first half and getting a great start to their own batting innings, KKR ended up losing by 10 runs. Soon after the match got over, franchise co-owner Shahrukh Khan wrote a surprising but much-required tweet, apologising to the fans of the squad for the obvious disappointment and embarrassment they had to go through on Tuesday. Disappointing performance. to say the least @KKRiders apologies to all the fans! — Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) April 13, 2021 “Disappointing performance. to say the least @KKRiders apologies to all the fans!” the actor tweeted. And while many were heartbroken to see such an unbelievable turn of events, especially in the final few overs of the match, many ended up asking the superstar whether or not the match was fixed: Confirm fixing match.15th over start fixing. when timeout start continue you're player playing slowly and trying to lose boll run rate rising. Failure to gain momentum since that moment, KKR, who needed to score just 31 runs off 30 deliveries failed to achieve the feat. Some of the biggest names of the team, Dinesh Karthik, Shakib Al Hasan, skipper Eoin Morgan, and Andre Russell, all got dismissed on single-digit scores, albeit Russell went on to have the best match of his entire IPL career with the ball. In just two overs, the Windies player scalped five wickets, including Kieron Pollard and the Pandya brothers, while giving away just 15 runs. View this post on Instagram However, despite the fantastic bowling attack, a complete collapse of the batting order after Rana’s dismissal led to the complete deflation of KKR. Following the KKR-MI clash, both the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders now have one win and one loss under their belts. However, due to the high Net Run Rate, MI are at the second spot (after Delhi Capitals) but KKR are at the number five spot. View this post on Instagram Next up, Rohit Sharma and the Mumbai Indians will be looking to take on David Warner’s SunRisers Hyderabad at Chennai’s Chepauk Stadium on Saturday, April 17 while KKR will hope to move away from the disappointing loss against Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore at the same venue a day later.
