  1. Amongst the brutal chaos that has engulfed Sri Lanka due to the serial bomb blasts that went off in Colombo over the last few days, there are some people who've taken upon themselves to act as messiahs during difficult times in the country. Over 300 people, including foreigners, were killed last week in the terror attack and local heroes are ascertaining that help is provided in every way possible © Twitter For instance, Irfan, an Uber cab driver helped an Indian businessman in distress and one has to be very noble to give the kind of assistance the cab driver gave his Indian customer, during extremely turbulent times. 25-year-old Ashwin Rangarajan, a finance consultant from Bengaluru was scheduled to leave for India on Sunday whose flight was delayed for over 12 hours, due to the aftermath of the blasts in the city. It was a difficult journey to make, from where he was to the airport, but he made it on time and flew back to India safely, and the person responsible for this was Irfan, his Uber driver. © Times Of India The journey Ashwin had to make till the airport was about 45kms long and he had to do it by going through the chaotic streets as the impact of the blasts were still fresh, everywhere. When Irfan got the call for duty, his first instinct was to cancel the ride to avoid any danger along the way, but he trusted his instinct and accepted Ashwin's booking for the airport, making sure he reached safe and sound. Even though Irfan's family was dead against him accepting the long ride to the airport as there were rumours floating about that Muslims were being attacked in the city post the blasts, Irfan thought it was his duty to help a fellow survivor out and instead, acted responsibly. © Pintrest This is a pure indication of the fact that in times of grave crisis, there are still people who act through the sheer presence of mind and do the right thing and can be eventually counted on with regard to their responsibility! Kudos Irfan, we're proud of you!
  2. 'Gully Boy' frontman MC Sher stole a lot of limelight from leading stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the movie. He came as Murad's mentor and stepped up as that voice of reason that turned Murad's life around for the better. © Excel Entertainment The man behind the terrific performance of rapper MC Sher was Siddhant Chaturvedi who portrayed the role with conviction. Ever since the film's release, people have spoken of him in the same breath as Ranveer and Alia, whenever someone thought of Zoya Akhtar's blockbuster musical drama 'Gully Boy'. © Excel Entertainment Since the film's release, Siddhant became a household name with his more than perfect debut, while girls simply couldn't get enough of him. With so many people wanting more of MC Sher, and others wondering about the rapper's own backstory, struggles and future after Murad's raging popularity, reports are now rife that producer Ritesh Sidhwani and Zoya Akhtar have decided to create a spin-off around MC Sher becoming an overnight sensation, which will help smoothen out all the ruffled feathers. © Excel Entertainment “The film is entirely based on Siddhant's character and traces MC Sher's journey to becoming a hero. This will also give the makers a chance to delve deeper into the hip-hop culture and you can expect many engaging rap battles,” a source was quoted as saying. © Excel Entertainment This has come as good news for hundreds of MC Sher and Siddhant Chaturvedi fans who will now get to behold the rapper's life story in a standalone movie, who played the role of a terrific mentor and an even better friend in 'Gully Boy'. We cannot wait to watch his side of the story on the big screen. What about you?
  3. DC is known for the depth and darkness it shows in its movies, and it is never just about good guys fighting the bad guys. It is so much more! It is about the struggles of the superhero, his fight with his inner demons and his struggles to keep at least some of his conscience alive. DC has produced much more than movies, it has produced characters. Characters which make you realise that even superheroes are not invincible. Characters which make you realise that everyone is fighting their own battle, no matter how powerful they are. Characters who don't have the spare time to entertain the audience by doing some silly things. But it all changed with 'Shazam'! 'Shazam' seems like a Marvel movie, more than a DC movie. Totally made for kids, with almost no depth. Good guys fighting bad guys, good guys win, then end. Hell, even Marvel came out of this kid-friendly storyline and gave us 'Infinity War'. Their only movie which actually has some depth. Thanos is the best character that Marvel created, a character with some depth. The way the audience loved him, DC should have set a new bar with the character of 'Shazam'. They should have launched something dark, someone, who has to fight the battles within before he can save/destroy the world. But unfortunately, Shazam came out as just another guy who got lucky. 'Shazam' reminds you of all the Marvel movies before 'Infinity War', and this is not a compliment. It is strictly for children and has zero scope for an adult fan who seeks deep emotions in a DC movie. What makes it worse is that the launch of this movie is almost after DC launched the show 'Titans', one of the best and certainly darkest shows of DC. It's really hard to understand what DC was thinking while making such a light movie. They could have made at least the second half a bit dark. Let's hope they stop this experimentation right here and get back to following their script which shows the inner battles of the character more than his battles with the supervillain.
  4. It has been well documented that Indian bowling all-rounder Kedar Jadhav shares one of the biggest bromances in Indian sports with former captain of the Men in Blue and current Chennai Super Kings leader Mahendra Singh Dhoni for some time now. The 34-year-old Jadhav has openly spoken up about how much he idolises Dhoni and the fact that he decorated his room with Mahi's posters in his Pune house. So, it is only obvious that Jadhav would love to be around Dhoni as much as he can and according to his latest Instagram post, take care of his eating habits as well. View this post on Instagram Bromance â¤ï¸ A post shared by Kedar Jadhav (@kedarjadhavofficial) on Apr 14, 2019 at 10:10am PDT In the video, Kedar and Mahi can be seen sharing a quick bite ahead of an IPL match against Dinesh Karthik's Kolkata Knight Riders. Jadhav has always looked up to the Indian wicket-keeper and has commended his ability to stick to the crease, remain calm under testing times and finish games in favour of his country with a bang. “I can't put it out in words. Every time I see Mahi bhai, it instils confidence in me. That sort of aura is like, that you see him and feel that 'I will deliver today'. He has the knack of getting the best out of every player and that's what everybody loves about him,” Jadhav had said after playing a 81-run-innings in an ODI match against the visiting Australians in March. “The kind of cricketer I am today is because of him. He has always encouraged me… He had seen me in Zimbabwe first and in the New Zealand series at home in 2016, he just wanted two overs from me and luckily for me in my second over, I got two wickets.” Belonging to the 'Whistle Podu' franchise, Dhoni and Jadhav are enjoying their well-deserved top spot on the points table of the league with a season-best record of seven wins to one loss in their eight games played. Super Kings are to take on Kane Williamson and SunRisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday.
  5. Acer just showed off its new gaming laptop that has a keyboard that comes out from the main body. According to the company, this design helps keep the laptop cool and the laptop is called the Predator Helios 700. The laptop comes with Nvidia's latest RTX 2080/2070 GPU and Intel's i9 mobile processors. © BCCL The extendable keyboard basically allows more airflow to the processor and GPU in order to prevent throttling and overheating. This design lets the Predator Helios 700 make more room for fans which are revealed when the keyboard is extended. More airflow means that laptop will have more scope for overclocking, in theory. However, we will only know that once we get to test it ourselves. Along with the keyboard, the touchpad also slides out along with the keyboard at an angle so that it is comfortable to use. © BCCL Even the WASD keys on this laptop are raised and are pressure sensitive just like modern controllers. This will enable gamers to put the right amount of force to carry out activities in-game. For example, if you press the “W” key halfway, your character in your game will walk at a slower pace. Once pressed harder, your character will walk faster or run. “Continuing to deliver best-in-class performance, gamers can look to Acer's Predator Helios line for powerful and affordable gaming notebooks,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Product Business, Acer Inc. “They are innovative, future-proof and reliable thanks to advanced thermal technologies that keep them cool during intense gaming sessions.” © BCCL In terms of display, the Helios 799 has a 1920X1080 resolution display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The display has NVIDIA G-Sync support for better performance however we would have liked to see a 4K display. The laptop's price would increase considerably, however, a 4K variant would be a welcomed addition to the portfolio. The Predator Helios 700 gaming notebooks will be available in North America in April starting at USD 2,699.99; in EMEA in July starting at EUR 2,699.00; and in China in June, starting at RMB 19,999.
  6. In this article, I'm not going to tell you about the basic stuff which everyone carries to the gym like perfume, towel, shaker, etc. © Dsptch Gym It's not about carrying a supplement shop and carrying things like: 1) BCAAs 2) fat burner pills 3) glutamine The below 5 essentials will help you in getting the best out of your training and will help you face your most challenging exercises with confidence. These 5 gym essentials can take your training to the next level if used properly. 1) Flat Shoes: Flat shoes are one of the best shoes for weight lifting. They have a solid grip over the gym mats and provide safety when lifting a heavy load. Flat sole shoes like converse, vans, etc. A huge benefit is the ability to activate more muscle and recruit more fibres. These shoes enable you to push through the floor much easier, which will allow you to produce more force during a lift. When you work out, especially during leg exercises you have to be driving through the heels. It is very hard to drive force through the heel in running shoes. The sole does not support that. Lifting shoes can help you to feel sturdier during heavy squats, deadlifts and any other free compound lift. 2) Knee Sleeves Or Wraps Knee sleeves or wraps protect your knees and give you the confidence to lift heavy loads on squats, leg press, etc. It also provides joint warmth. Don't wrap your knees with knee wraps too tightly it might block your blood flow. Keep the tightness from 7-8/10. For knee sleeves, go for neoprene material 7mm-10mm. 3) Weight Training Belt: A belt can be a useful piece for supportive strength equipment in your training, but it shouldn't be relied on. © Getty Images It's always a better idea to build a solid foundation of muscle and strong lifting mechanics before reaching for & possibly overusing a belt. Weight lifting belt keeps your lower back safe. It supports the torso during big lifts like squats, deadlifts, bench press, overhead press, etc. It also provides you with confidence when loading weights on the bar. 4) Lifting Straps: Wrist straps can be beneficial when performing any pulling movements or holding any heavy load. It prevents you from grip failure. Grip failure is one of the main reason where you shift back from lifting a heavy load. You can use lifting straps on any back movements, deadlifts and shrugs. How to put the straps? Setting on your wrist straps and attaching them to the bar can be critical. Wrapping technique will change based on the length of the strap and where the loop is stitched. Everyone has their favourite method, but here's mine: I find it comfortable to wrap one hand exactly where I want it, then wrap the other hand closer to the already-wrapped hand (so I can use it for help with the wrapping method), then push the second hand into position. 5) Training Logbook: A training log book can be helpful to note down how much work you put every session. You can track your sets, reps, load, etc. Training without a plan not knowing how much weight to lift, the number of reps you should be doing and what you're trying to improve is like taking a road trip without a map. Your main goal is to improve on what you did in your last training session, that's called progression. Any workout without progression means you're not developing, which means you didn't have a productive workout. Author bio: Yashovardhan Singh is an online fitness coach with www.getsetgo.fitness, an online fitness platform. 7. 'Kalank' is a period film, set in pre-independent India about an elite family and conflicts that escalate to communal tensions parallel with impending partition. With a stellar cast of Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Kunal Khemu, the film does look very promising. Set to release on 17 April 2019, Kalank's marketing has been a mix of having the on-screen couples twin in the same colour and wearing long flow-y ethnic kurtas and sherwanis to commemorate the film's appeal. We saw the entire cast dressed as if ready to crash a destination wedding. These outfits are so good that you'll want to steal them for the next wedding season. One of the recent outfits that we really liked was Aditya Roy Kapoor's, who was wearing an asymmetrical sherwani. Take a look: © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The sherwani comes in two layers. The outer layer is powerful, blue solid with thick contrasting white buttons, the inner layer extends till the ankle on one side and is stitched in an assymetrical cut. The sherwani is so fascinating that we think it's a perfect option for a bestfriend's wedding because firstly, it's not the kind of sherwani just anyone would wear to a wedding, so you'll look different but it doesn't even look bizarre. In fact, people will be only envious of this outfit.

  9. Ever since making his debut in 2016, Jasprit Bumrah's consistent bowling performances have allowed him to establish himself as India's go-to bowler in dire situations across formats. If his anomalous, sling-arm action has troubled some of the best in the business, Bumrah's natural pace and peculiar release point of his deliveries make him a nightmare for the opposition batsmen. Such has been his accuracy that the steaming yorkers he bowls manage to find the bottom of the stumps more often, than not. For someone who thrives in limited-overs cricket, Bumrah takes his game to a whole new level in the Mumbai Indians (MI) jersey while plying his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The success and popularity of Bumrah can be ascertained from the fact that a lot of youngsters have been seen trying to copy him in the past. An under-13 youngster was spotted copying Bumrah's action in Hong Kong's U-13 League recently. And, then, during India's tour of Australia, a young kid was also spotted executing Bumrah's unorthodox to perfection. Have RCB found their Jasprit Bumrah? ð¤ #IPL2019 pic.twitter.com/ib4C2oCSFW — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) March 26, 2019 A similar incident came to the fore recently when a young seamer, with an action similar to Bumrah, was seen bowling to Moeen Ali in the nets during the training session of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The brief video shared on the social media showing the young bowler imitating Bumrah has taken social media by storm. The young bowler in question is believed to Mahesh Kumar, a local lad, who has been a net bowler for RCB in the past. Though it will still take some time for the youngster to get a game with RCB, cricket fans were clearly smitten by the next Bumrah. While some claimed that RCB might have unearthed a new Bumrah, others were just in awe of the similarities between the two. Virat Kohli-led RCB will hope to make use of the young bowler, if he's given an opportunity, to turn their fortunes in the IPL. After suffering a crushing seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opening match, RCB will be eager to bounce back when they host Mumbai in what promises to be a pulsating contest on 28th March.
  10. We went months without anything related to 'Avengers: Endgame' and now, everything's coming at the same time. I'm talking about the how the cast bombarded us with their character posters for the movie last night and I'm so living for it. An accurate representation of the Marvel fandom last night - But, there was one specific poster that was a little unexpected and made everyone go crazy with new fan theories. Yep, the Loki poster that Tom Hiddleston himself shared. As soon as that poster came out, everybody - including me - was convinced that Loki is alive and will somehow come back in 'Endgame'. © Marvel Loki was the first one to die in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and that too in the first few minutes, but that can't be the end of it, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a huge fan and have even named my dog after him. Loki has to be alive, if not for the fans, then for Thor. That guy has lost everything and most probabaly personally blames himself for the snap since he couldn't stop Thanos. Imagine him reuniting with his brother? How great would that be! Also, I don't have any theories about how he'll come back, I'm just saying this as a fan. 1 month. #AvengersEndgame pic.twitter.com/Vqp2ZGXZXj — Tom Hiddleston (@twhiddleston) March 26, 2019 Yes, more characters who died before the 'dusting of 2018' have their own posters - Gamora and Vision - but they haven't ever died and come back to life before like Loki. Or maybe, it's not even coming back to life and there's actual time travel and the Avengers go back to the battle of New York in 2012. © Marvel Russo Brothers have kept everything so hidden and have probably even heavily manipulated the trailers, we can't say anything for sure right now and we'll just have to wait a month, a long painful month. But, the wait doesn't mean people's speculation has to stop and Loki stans are living right now. Honestly can't tell. 11. A second heartwarming story on Twitter in one day and not a story about a bunch of trolls? How? I never knew this was even possible. Okay, keeping all the jokes aside, I would just like to say Twitter is having a good day today. First, there was a son who helped his dad who was about no customers showing up at his donut shop with the power of social media and now, a huge company took out the time to give the perfect response to a little boy with big dreams. Alan Joyce, the CEO of Qantas, an Australian airline took the time to respond to 10-year-old Alex Jacquot who had sent him a handwritten letter asking for advice about his own airlines called Oceania Express. Just look at the adorable little letter! He's already working on his dreams and has tried to set up everything, he's so serious about achieving this that he wrote to a man who he knows can guide him. This kid is going places, I can tell you that right now. Well, a CEO of big company is obviously busy but I still can't get over how Alan Joyce took out the time to give a proper response to Alex. After all, CEOs help out other CEOs. Here's the letter Alan sent back to Alex: Such a good way to encourage a little kid to go and achieve his dreams. 12. One of the main topics of conversation surrounding 'Captain Marvel' was representation. There are so many superheroes for little boys to look up to, and finally, Captain Marvel came and even little girls got to see a badass superhero and get inspired. But, Captain Marvel gave us one more important representation in pop culture - representation for cats. We've already established how Goose the cat was the real hero of the latest Marvel movie and how the little adorable alien cat stole the show every time it appeared on the screen. Marvel even gave Goose its own superhero poster because they already knew the cat was going to be a fan favourite. © Marvel The particular poster got so much love when it came out like two months ago, but ever since the movie released, this poster started a whole new trend in Korea. People started photoshopping their cats - and other pets - onto the poster and the resulting pictures are honestly purrfect. (Sorry not sorry for the pun) The trending hashtag is in Korean and it translates to Captain Marvel - My House Goose. Dipa Karmakar is India's most celebrated gymnast who has not only tasted success internationally but is also the first Indian gymnast to have represented the nation in the most prestigious contest in the world, the Olympics, in 52 years. She has also won bronze at both, Commonwealth Games, Glasgow (2014) and Asian Championships (2015). View this post on Instagram Happy Olympic day ! I feel so honoured to be an Olympian and proud to have represented india ð®ð³... A post shared by Dipa Karmakar (@dipakarmakarofficial) on Jun 23, 2018 at 10:33am PDT Started working on her talents and improving her skills at an extremely early age of six in the city of Agartala in Tripura, Karmakar also suffered from a postural deformity called flat feet which used to adversely affect her performance and hindered her from reaching her true potential. According to her former coach Bisbeshwar Nandi, Karmakar used to put in extra hours of hard work to naturally bring a curve to her feet, leading her to contest and win more than 75 medals during her ongoing illustrious career. At just 25 years of age, she is considered to be one of the most influential members of the society, especially the younger generation of sports enthusiasts. Her ability to not give up under unfair circumstances, the relentless dedication and the hunger to prove her worth to the world inspired Mattel Inc. the toy company that produces the fashionable and iconic 'Barbie' dolls. On the 60th anniversary of the toy, the company decided to pay homage to 20 women hailing from 17 countries, who have been on great significance and are considered to be “real-life heroes” for their contribution to their respective fields and the society. Karmakar made the list and was honoured with her very own Barbie doll that donned a full-sleeve red leotard while also showing off the bronze medal she earned during the 2014 Commonwealth. 14. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 7 Pro in India and its first sale is scheduled for March 13. We've been using the phone for a few days now and it sure gives the competition a run for their money. The Note 7 Pro's starting price has been fixed at Rs 13,999 for the 64GB variant and Rs 16,999 for the 128GB variant. What's so special about this phone? We've made a list of things we love about the phone. © MensXP / Shivam Vahia 1. Near Perfect Camera: Xiaomi has been teasing the 48MP camera for months and it is the main highlight of the phone. The rear has a Sony IMX586 sensor paired along with a 5-megapixel secondary camera. Thanks to the high resolution, pictures have an incredible amount of detail. For low-light pictures, four pixels are merged into one and a 12-megapixel picture is created that has lower more detail and sharpness. 2. Camera Software: Using AI, not only can the phone add a bokeh effect but also completely change the background into 6 presets. After a preset is applied, you can also further change the type of lighting overlay. This opens up the option of having much more customization and using the same depth sensor, newer edits can be applied. © MensXP / Shivam Vahia 3. Stunning Design: The Redmi Note 7 Pro has an all-glass design with a gradient finish. The company says it has used a 6-layer process to add the gradient finish and it is available in Neptune Blue, Nebula Red, and Classic Space Black. Not only has Xiaomi built the phone like a beast from the inside, but also equally stunning from the outside. 4. MIUI 10: The phone ships out of the box with MIUI 10 (Android Pie) and brings in gesture support, picture-in-picture mode, new recent menu, and AI performance enhancements. Thanks to the faster processor, the experience is even more smooth and refreshing. © MensXP / Shivam Vahia 5. Better Display: The phone has a 6.3-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It is protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and features a smaller notch on the top. Xiaomi has further cut down on bezels and it also gets a 2.5D curved glass. The screen-to-body ratio has been improved to 81.4 per cent. 6. Faster Processor: © Qualcomm It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor built on TSMC's 11nm manufacturing process. The device comes with an Adreno 612 GPU. The new SoC employs software “gaming enhancements” that promise up to 90 per cent fewer stutters. Qualcomm enables the hardware and software to support both bokeh (portrait modes) and HDR shots in a single shot. 7. Battery: It has a 4000mAh battery and the phone finally ships with USB-C. The phone supports Quick Charge 4 but it comes bundled with a 10W charger. The battery is sufficient to get you through a day's heavy usage.

  16. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, better known as The Mountain from the hit HBO franchise, 'Game of Thrones', is a big man. Weighing in at 195 kg, Björnsson, has not only made us skip a beat with his massive structure in the show, but is also making headlines all over, as the strongest man in the world. That is not an exaggeration. In 2018,'Thor' Björnsson went on to win the Arnold's Classic, followed by Europe's Strongest Match. He capped the year by winning the most prestigious competition of them all, 'The World's Strongest Man', as he became the first person to win all the three highly reputed competitions in a single year, according to his website. While The Mountain set a world record in deadlifting last year when he did a WR Elephant Bar Deadlift (471.69 kg/1039.9 lbs), he decided to outdo himself by an extra five pounds at the 2019 Arnold's Classic, as he shattered his own world record, which now sits at an impressive 474 kg/1044.9lbs mark which is nearly two and a half times his body weight! Just to put things into perspective, that's how much an elephant weighs in his teenage days. In another Instagram upload after the win, Björnsson thanked his sponsors, best friends and nutritional coach for their constant support during his exceptional journey. He did not forget to thank his wife Kelsey Henson, who he considers to be the lucky charm for him. 17. Galaxy Unpacked and MWC were the choice of venue for Huawei and Samsung to unveil their iterations of a foldable smartphone. Both phones have managed to capture the imagination of smartphone users, however, there's an unlikely company using the same marketing style to promote their own product. It's even called the “LEGO Fold”. © Samsung Behold, we give you LEGO's own foldable toy that's actually a pop-up book set, that is being promoted in the same style as Samsung's Galaxy Fold. The device in question has a 5-inch cover display and an 11-inch pop 'screen'. The Samsung Galaxy Fold, on the other hand, is 4.6-inches when folded and 7.3-inched when unfolded. Of course, the LEGO Fold is not really a smartphone however we can appreciate LEGO's level of trolling. A stunning 5-inch cover display unfolds into an 11-inch pop-up story book. For endless creative play that never runs out of battery. pic.twitter.com/yodboV2aEK — LEGO (@LEGO_Group) March 4, 2019 © Lego, Samsung LEGO's trolling efforts go further as the company released the artwork with the caption “creative play that never runs out of battery” comparing the storybook with a smartphone. LEGO has been a leading toy maker and it is quite refreshing to see the company take a dig on smartphones. We live in an age where smartphones/tablets are rapidly replacing toys as a source of entertainment for kids. What's great about the LEGO Fold is that it doesn't cost as much as Samsung or Huawei's offering. It will sell for $69.99 which is nothing when compared to Galaxy Fold's price tag of $2000.
  18. Remember the epic promo that introduced Australia's tour of India for the Twenty20 and ODI series, the one in which former Indian opener Virender Sehwag acts as a babysitter managing infants dressed in Australian jerseys roaming around the dressing room cluelessly, crying? Yeah, that promo just backfired. Australia's T20I series against the Men in Blue is a testament to the fact that they are not only an assembly of mature, elite class cricketers but also one of the dominating teams in the world. Handing Team India their first series defeat on Indian soil in 40 months, Aaron Finch and Co. swept the series clean. The first match showed the immense potential the extremely talented bowlers of the Australian cricket team consist of. Following the leadership of pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile (Man of the Match), the bowlers blew away every batsman that pose a threat. Rishabh Pant, Rohit Sharma and Dinesh Karthik were some of the witnesses of the storm that the Australian bowling was. Limiting Virat Kohli's side to a mere total of 126, they won the game with three wickets to spare. The second match, on the other hand, showed the team's batting prowess. All-rounder Glenn Maxwell took over the game with his thunderous innings in which he scored 119 runs in just 55 deliveries to bring home the game and the series in a jiffy. When the India-Australia promo came out, a lot of people were unhappy with the “cockiness” the Indian side displayed in the name of casual sledging and friendly banter. The fact that India won their ODI and Test series during their time Down Under against a depleted Australian side was hugely missed out on. Back in the day, Australian cricket legend Matthew Hayden sent out a tweet as well, warning Indians against underestimating the team and boy, was he correct in doing so. #BeWarned Never take Aussie's for a joke Viru Boy @virendersehwag @StarSportsIndia Just remember who's baby sitting the #WorldCup trophy https://t.co/yRUtJVu3XJ — Matthew Hayden AM (@HaydosTweets) February 11, 2019 Just as the promo ended with Sehwag expressing his concerns about the chances of Australia defeating our boys, reality has struck Indian cricket fans like lightning and might as well be a reminder of exactly how strong their side can be, especially with the 2019 World Cup coming up.
  19. Let's face it, it has not been the best of days for the Chelsea Football Club in the recent past. After facing a crushing 6-0 defeat at the hands of Pep Guardiola's Manchester City a couple of weeks ago, the Blues saw another internal drama take the centre stage when goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga decided to openly dishonour his manager Maurizio Sarri during the Carabao Cup final against the Citizens. However, it seems as if the Football Gods had had enough fun with the struggling Chelsea FC and decided to provide them with some sort of reimbursement. In came Tottenham Hotspur Right Wing-Back Kieran Trippier. In an English Premier League match up early this morning, Tottenham Hotspur (EPL Rank 3) went head to head against Chelsea FC (EPL Rank 6) and lost 0-2 to the Blues in spectacular fashion. However, a lot of credit for Chelsea's win must go to the Hotspur defender Trippier who did exactly the opposite of what his job description said he does: defend his side of the goal. Trippier. pic.twitter.com/bNQmN3aeyK — Busonzio (@Busonzio) February 27, 2019 When the Chelsea forwards decided to make a late-game push for another goal after Pedro's excellent strike in the 57th minute, the ball tumbled down to Trippier with no Blues player in his vicinity. The 28-year-old then decided to pass the ball to his keeper Hugo Lloris (at least that's what we think he wanted to do). Typical defender move, right? However, what Trippier did not realise was the fact that Lloris was running right towards him with the net completely unguarded. His skilful and unbelievably accurate shot thus placed the ball right in the bottom left corner of the goal post. Within microseconds of sending the ball for an own goal, the British footballer had realised what a mess he had created, as his keeper stood still, shaking his head in disbelief. The fiasco brought forward a five-year-old tweet the footballer had put up. “Come on Chelsea,” he had said one year before he had signed with Tottenham in 2015. Hotspur fans and well, fans of football in general were quick to jump on to the glorious internet to roast the unfortunate defender with the best memes they could think of: 𤣠Kieran Trippier. ð¤¦‍âï¸ð¤¦‍âï¸ð¤¦‍âï¸ #CHETOT pic.twitter.com/R6hLmoaOLD — Sky Bet (@SkyBet) February 27, 2019 Kieran Trippier has always been a Chelsea fan pic.twitter.com/iFAr2bvwr5 — The Futbol Sphere (@TTOFz) February 27, 2019 Trippier has better 1v1 finishing than Morata. #CHETOT pic.twitter.com/eysZBdTvw4 — Naman Khandelwal (@yungnaman) February 27, 2019 Players that need to leave the club this Summer: Trippier Ben Davies Lamela Aurier Dier We can't be a top tier contender having these kind of players. — Patrick Souza (@PatrickRSouza) February 28, 2019 Nobody: Kieran Trippier: pic.twitter.com/MpWUxGI13n — Steven (@SPURSWlN) February 28, 2019 The internet never forgets…but you know that, right?
  20. For a team that recorded historic win in Tests before winning the ODI series Down Under, the Indian cricket team got a stark reminder of Australia's capabilities in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) following their three-wicket loss in Visakhapatnam. Barring KL Rahul, none of India's batting superstars stepped up as they stuttered to a mediocre total of 126 runs. The Indian bowlers tried to put up a brave fight despite few runs to play for, but in the end, Umesh Yadav's 14-run final over saw Australia to eke out a thrilling win and allowed them to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match T20I series. Going into the 2nd T20I, the Indian cricket team needs to put their best foot forward as they take on the visitors in the must-win clash at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. But, while the hosts aim to bounce back in a bid to level the series, some of India's biggest superstars will also fancy notching up individual records. © BCCL The likes of Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma are all in fray to etch their name in the history books with the potential individual records they can achieve during the 2nd T20I on 27th February. Rohit is on the verge of shattering the record for most sixes in the shortest format. The Mumbai batsman has slammed 102 sixes in 86 T20I innings so far. He is just two 'big hits' away from overtaking the likes of Chris Gayle and Martin Guptill who are currently tied at the top in the list of most sixes in T20Is. The 31-year-old is already leading the list of Indian batsmen with most sixes in T20Is. The nearest person to his tally of T20I sixes (in India) is Yuvraj Singh who boasts of 74 maximums in 51 innings in the shortest format. He is way ahead from the likes of Dhoni and Kohli who have 49 sixes in 84 innings and 48 'big hits' in 61 innings respectively. © BCCL Both, Kohli and Dhoni might be behind Rohit in the list of most T20I sixes, but, going into today's clash, the duo will be seen competing in a race of their own. The two cricketers are on the verge of bringing up a half-century of sixes in T20Is. And, with Dhoni needing just one and Kohli requiring two 'big hits', it'll be interesting to see who reaches the milestone first. While the individual milestones wouldn't really be on their minds, these three vital cricketers will be eager to produce an improved performance to help their side level the T20I series against Australia today.

  22. Today Guneet Monga's 'Period. End of Sentence' created history by winning the Best Documentary Short Subject at the Oscars 2019 aka the 91st Academy Awards. The 26-minute documentary is set in Hapur, a village in Uttar Pradesh and deals with the taboo around menstruation and how the women come together to create sanitary pads of their own, when a machine is installed in the village. © sikhya entertainment The whole world is talking about this documentary and so is Mumbai Police, but for a totally different yet equally important cause. Mumbai Police's social media team is known and lauded for coming up with creative and witty messages, on things that are going viral on the internet. This time too they did not disappoint us at all. Mumbai Police referred to the Oscar-winning documentary and wrote, "If cities were given an Oscar, Mumbai would have bagged some of the trophies definitely!" 23. Remember all the talk of AI-created video 'deepfakes' that so terrified us all? Well, there's a new deepfake AI around, one that's so powerful its creators - who are committed to open source - aren't even releasing it. Video Deepfakes Are Scary A year or so ago, AI developers came up with what is now known as 'deepfakes' - AI programs that could take snippets of video to create new, artificial, footage of an individual. It wasn't just the thought of cybercriminals using this to create fake porn footage to harass and blackmail people that terrified us all, but also the possibility of someone making fake hate speeches of politicians, national leaders, and others. This was considered so serious that even Reddit took action, while Google and other platforms also made it clear they wouldn't tolerate deepfake footage. But as with any other piece of tech, once it's out in the wild, you really can't do much. Text Deepfakes May Worsen The Fake News Problem But there's another area where deepfakes can be scary - news articles. And with a new text-writing AI around, so much could go wrong - imagine someone setting up a fake news website that wouldn't even need humans to churn out misleading articles. Or imagine a flood of fake Tweets, WhatsApp forwards, and Facebook posts that lead to consequences like civic unrest, stock market fluctuations, and even international incidents. After all, if the harder it gets to tell it's not been written by a human, the more likely it is that people can be fooled. You Really Can't Tell It's Written By An AI So here's what the latest fuss is all about. Researchers from the OpenAI group (founded, amongst others, by Elon Musk - though he's no longer associated with them), which carries out research into 'safe' and useful AI tech that can be shared with the world, came up with a new text generator, that can take a few sentences as a writing prompt to come up with a proper, lengthy post or article. However, (and not too surprising, to be honest), the text generating AI was so good, it spooked the researchers, who have refused to release it to the world! Meet GPT-2, An AI-powered Natural Language Model This Natural Language AI was trained on 40GB of data from across the Internet - utilising 1.5 billion parameters to analyse 8 million web pages! The dataset included outbound links from Reddit, and in order to maintain the quality of language the AI was to learn from, the researchers used just links approved by human moderators. The result? It's scary. Here's an example of GPT-2 saying recycling is bad: “...Recycling is bad for our economy. It increases the cost of a product, and in turn, the price of everything that is made with that product. Recycling is not good for our nation. We pay a tremendous price for the privilege of having the world's most advanced and efficient recycling system. Recycling is a huge, colossal waste of time, energy, money, and resources…” Yes, we know it sounds like something Donald Trump would write, but you know there'd be thousands (if not millions), who would take this seriously. What makes GPT-2 more powerful is that it's unsupervised - feed it a sentence and without any more guidance, it'll come up with an article! In fact, it's so eerily good at its job, it can even make up quotes! Here's an example of a story this AI wrote, on the topic of a train carrying nuclear materials going missing: “...'The theft of this nuclear material will have significant negative consequences on public and environmental health, our workforce and the economy of our nation,' said Tom Hicks, the U.S. Energy Secretary, in a statement. 'Our top priority is to secure the theft and ensure it doesn't happen again.'...” © techspot The Researchers Are Worried About This Being Used For Fake News Yes, the AI's creators are so worried they've refused to release their original work to the world. Instead, in a blog post, they make it clear that they'll only release a smaller sample: “... Due to our concerns about malicious applications of the technology, we are not releasing the trained model. As an experiment in responsible disclosure, we are instead releasing a much smaller model for researchers to experiment with, as well as a technical paper….” They go on to mention misleading news items, impersonation, and the automation of abusive and spam/phishing content as the reasons why they feel the full version of GPT-2 shouldn't be publicly accessible © Hub.Packtpub One can't blame them for taking this step - imagine someone using this to influence elections, or to provoke a dispute between two heads of state! But while advocates of open source tech are upset that OpenAI is not allowing full access to their new AI, it's unlikely this will close off new deepfake tech. If the Internet has taught us anything, this tech will either get leaked, or someone will use the 'limited' (no training code, no weights the AI uses to devise text, and none of the dataset it learnt from) version of this new AI to write something just as powerful, and just as scary.
  24. Indian parents are a different league altogether and I bet you'd agree with me. If you haven't had a 'chappal' swung at you, have you even had a memorable childhood? From being savage to making sure you're the laughing stock of the family, Indian parents are a league apart and this Indian guy's tweet is stated testimony. via GIPHY Siddhu, a Twitter user (@cheekyponnama), talked about how his mother liked keeping his picture in her wallet, all the time. The lad got mighty emotional when he saw his picture in her wallet and went on to Tweet about it. But what he didn't expect was the answer that came as a surprise to him and really put him in his place with his mother's savage comeback. My mum has a photo of me in her wallet and not of my siblings. She said whenever she faces an obstacle, she looks at my photo and the problem disappears. I felt really touched till she said, she also tells herself, “what other problem can be bigger than this one?” ð¥ð¥ð¥ — Siddhu (@cheekyponnama) 17 February 2019 He realised what she was trying to say only when she finished her sentence. Ouch! 'She said whenever she faces an obstacle, she looks at my photo and the problem disappears,' he wrote. 'I felt really touched till she said, she also tells herself, “what other problem can be bigger than this one?' Now do you have a clearer understanding of what Indian mothers, if not parents, are like? They definitely love adding more fuel to fire, just so they can have some fun at your expense. Siddhu's Tweet went viral and people on the internet reacted to it. Savagery of savageries!
