  1. On 12th October, Sanju Samson smashed an unbeaten 212 for Kerala, breaking a slew of records in the Vijay Hazare Trophy clash against Goa. Showcasing his batting abilities, Samson smashed 21 boundaries and 10 sixes while scoring at a strike-rate of over 164. It was the fastest double hundred in Lis A cricket and also the highest individual score in the tournament's history. Samson's blazing knock off just 129 deliveries also saw him going past Abid Ali's record of the highest individual score by a wicket-keeper in the domestic circuit. Thanks to his artistry with the willow, he became the sixth Indian to register a double hundred, joining the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Karn Kaushal. © Twitter While his batting masterclass, once again, bolstered his case for a national call-up, it also drew plaudits from cricket pundits and fans alike. Noted politician Shashi Tharoor also backed Samson to go all the way and urged the Indian selectors to take note of his latest batting genius. In transit in Frankfurt on the way to the @IPUparliament meeting in Belgrade when i get the news that Thiruvananthapuram's own Sanju Samson has hit 200 in a Vijay Hazare 50 over game! Ten sixes, 20 fours. Don't know if our white-ball selectors were watching?! pic.twitter.com/tnJmf6QNRM — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) October 12, 2019 "In transit in Frankfurt on the way to the @IPUparliament meeting in Belgrade when i get the news that Thiruvananthapuram's own Sanju Samson has hit 200 in a Vijay Hazare 50 over game! Ten sixes, 20 fours. Don't know if our white-ball selectors were watching?!," he wrote on Twitter. Exactly a week after Samson's double hundred and Tharoor's praising tweet, Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR) came up with a clever plan to give the Congress leader a dose of his own medicine. Taking a dig at Tharoor's high-end vocabulary, Royals took a page from his notebook to generate a hilarious response. 5 days late; took us that long to frame it. ð Call us puerile or rodomontade, but in this farrago, the @IamSanjuSamson innings was a pulchritudinous source of amazement. ð https://t.co/9hSa5ug6lf — Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) October 17, 2019 "5 days late; took us that long to frame it. Call us puerile or rodomontade, but in this farrago, the @IamSanjuSamson innings was a pulchritudinous source of amazement," the IPL side tweeted. As long as your runs are more than the letters in your words, you will keep us fans of @IamSanjuSamson happy!! Best wishes @rajasthanroyals https://t.co/mL4X0DZKQ4 — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) October 18, 2019 For someone who is famous for his oratory skills, Tharoor would have surely been stumped by Royals' brilliant response. And, that's probably why wordsmith Tharoor was quick to leave a humble response to Royals' witty remark. "As long as your runs are more than the letters in your words, you will keep us fans of @IamSanjuSamson happy!! Best wishes @rajasthanroyals," he tweeted.
  2. At 52 years of age, Switzerland's Natascha Badmann is arguably the greatest triathlete in the world right now. Having participated in the Ironman World Championships, better known as Kailua-Kona eight times, the 'Swiss Miss' has won six of them. As a part of India's very first edition of Ironman 70.3 championship, Badmann is currently in Goa and was more than willing to share her life story with us. View this post on Instagram Hello ð®ð³ I'm in Goa for @ironman70.3goa and the training has begun. ðªð» Feeling good to be back on the ð´ð»‍âï¸ for the preparation and I'm all ready to give it my all. @ironman70.3goa #redbull #hed #ventum #bont #oakleybike #tonihaslerprofessionalcoaching #ironman #triathlon #bike #running #swimming #india #goa #redbullindia #fitness A post shared by Natascha Badmann (@nataschabadmann) on Oct 15, 2019 at 3:32am PDT Back in 2007, during the World Championships in Hawaii, the then 40-year-old met with a horrific accident while riding her bicycle. While trying to avoid a motorcycle in a construction zone, she rammed her bike into a cone which led to several broken bones and a shattered collarbone. It took her four years to be able to finish her next triathlon, which was the Ironman race in Lanzarote, Spain but her journey to complete recovery went on for ages. © Ironman Triathlon “After the injury, it was very hard to make a comeback. When I got the diagnosis that I might never be able to race again, it really shocked me,” Natascha told MensXP. “Coming back from surgery, I couldn't move either of my arms for six weeks. I couldn't eat on my own, I couldn't drink on my own, I couldn't go to the bathroom, I couldn't even wipe my own tears when I was crying in pain.” “From that moment on, I realised that I had to relearn everything,” she said. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, Badmann used this opportunity to rework her body to focus on those things that she was bad at before the accident. I couldn't have gone any faster so for me and I was satisfied with my performance and the result.” View this post on Instagram B2Run Schweizer Firmenlauf Runter vom Bürostuhl, rein in die Sportschuhe ð‍âï¸ð‍âï¸ Ich freue mich auf den #motivationsboost für euch, mit euch ð¤#b2runambassador #b2runch #beactiverogether #win #motivationboost #b2runbasel #b2runbern #b2runzurich #powerbymini www.b2run.ch A post shared by Natascha Badmann (@nataschabadmann) on Jun 22, 2019 at 3:05am PDT Natascha Badmann is the kind of woman who loves to interact with people. She has this aura around her that one feels inspired just by listening to what she has to say. At 52 years of age, she can easily run, swim and cycle a lot better than any 20-year-old amateur you know of. It is all because of her love for the sport and her unshaken determination to keep at it despite getting older, that she can still give 'young athletes' a run for their money when it comes to fitness.
  3. The ICC World Cup 2019 match between Virat Kohli's Team India and Sarfaraz Ahmed's Team Pakistan was a tale of two countries. While the fans of the Men in Blue saw some of their best cricketers such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli shine bright despite the cloudy weather of Old Trafford, Manchester, the supporters of the Men in Green were absolutely devastated by the way their side played on Sunday. What Ahmed failed to analyse was exactly how strong the Indian batting order is. Scoring a total of 336 runs in 50 overs, the Bleed Blue army gave a mammoth task to their opponents to follow up. Once Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq got dismissed off Vijay Shankar and the partnership between Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman was broken, thanks to Kuldeep Yadav, the task became impossible for them, despite the DLS method coming into operation. Team India's batting and bowling sides performed at the pinnacle of their potential and came up with an ideal outcome, defeating the Pakistani squad by a huge margin of 89 runs. 5. The International Space Station, as we all know, is currently the only fully functional space station in the Earth's lower orbit. It's the result of a partnership between European countries represented by the European Space Agency the United States, Japan, Canada, and Russia. Well, looks like there's going to be another space station by the year 2030 and it's going to be launched by none other than India. The same has been confirmed by the ISRO chief K Sivan during a press conference where he also talked a bit more about the project. © Reuters He made it a point to inform that India will not be joining the International Space Station (ISS) and launch its own space station, which will be an extension of the Gaganyaan project. “We have to sustain the Gaganyaan programme. So, subsequently, as a long-term plan, we are planning to have the space station in India. We are going to join the international community in manned missions to the moon, asteroids. We have a clear plan for the space programme,” Sivan said. The proposed space station will likely weigh 20 tonnes and it's said to be used for conducting microgravity experiments. India is targetting 2030 as the date to launch the space station and the preliminary plan is for the space station is to accommodate astronauts for up to 15-20 days in space. We still don't have a lot of details, but we hope to learn more after the completion of Gaganyaan mission. © Reuters As for the Gaganyaan mission, the government is said to have cleared a budget of Rs. 10,000 crore. It looks like there will be two flights from Sriharikota before the maiden flight with crew takes of sometime in 2022. ISRO's complete focus right now is on India's second moon mission, Chandrayan -2. It will take off on July 15 and will attempt to land near the South Pole of the Moon, which has remained an uncharted territory so far. You can learn more about the Chandrayan-2 mission right here.
  6. Off late, HBO has been churning out some great content for its viewers. After the mighty success of 'Game of Thrones', 'Chernobyl' is the new show taking disaster dramatics by storm, breaking records in every way possible. If you know about 'Chernobyl', you'll know it's a story that revolves around the true events that occurred in 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, and the lives of those who faced the consequences, post it. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant was situated North of Ukraine SSR, near a city called Pripyat and it surely was one of the most gruesome disasters to have occurred in the history of mankind, results of which are still quite prominent and visible. © HBO Right now, the show is on its way to becoming the highest-ranking television series, ever and IMBD ratings prove its way ahead of the highest-ranked fantasy drama's namely 'Game of Thrones'! Yes, something has finally beaten 'Game of Thrones' records and that's a first, for sure. The average rating for the show on IMDB is 9.6/10, which way ahead of 'Breaking Bad' and 'Game of Thrones', which have a rating of 9.4/10. But unfortunately, Russia doesn't agree about its popularity and clearly doesn't like how HBO has projected the happenings in the show and is going ahead with its own version of the show on Chernobyl. A Russian network is making a fictional story on Chernobyl, based on a conspiracy theory, that claims that a CIA agent was sent to the nuclear power plant to carry out the acts of damage. This is because the Russian media does not agree to the plotline and the character arcs that are prevalent in the show and they find it strange that an American TV channel (HBO) has told stories about the Russian heroes in their own way. Several other Russian media houses have criticised the show for showing instances based on America's own understanding and perspectives when the disaster occurred far away from them. © HBO The Russians also believe that the American channel is using the show to tarnish Russia's reputation as a nuclear power, through demonstrating facts that aren't true from the show. One of the local papers also said 'the show is a caricature and not the truth'. "One theory holds that Americans had infiltrated the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and many historians do not deny that, on the day of the explosion, an agent of the enemy's intelligence services was present at the station." states film director Alexei Muradov, to an international publication. © HBO With all these conspiracy theories flying about, the show is definitely going to be a lot more interesting and if you haven't watched it yet, its time you catch it, just to understand a bit of history. After all, weren't we all looking for something to replace 'Game of Thrones'? Even if this is a bit extreme as an alternative, it's definitely a must-watch!
  7. When it comes to footwear, there's always a question that lingers around- "How many shoes do I need?" From the boardroom to the bar and from the beach hours to date night, there's no chance that a rack filled with sandals or formal shoes will do the needful. Well, you can relax now because we've done the legwork and whittled down to 5 essential shoes that you need right away: 1. Suede Loafers © Getty Images Suede loafers have been counted as synonymous with casual dressing. The sleek and smart design, available in darker tones can go a long way. Don't miss out on the ubiquity offered by the tasselled version as they are a godsend to take your date look a notch higher. 2. White Low Top Sneakers © Getty Images White sneakers have already earned their place in the shoe closet, but the latest version of low top sneakers can take your look from sporty to minimal to edgy. The best part? They pair well with everything and yes, with sharp silhouettes too! 3. The Black Oxford © Getty Images The snug fit and clean finish, make the black oxford the most formal pair. Often viewed as a type for professionals, these shoes are a safe bet to wear at weddings, funerals and job interviews. Dress them up or down, they never disappoint. 4. Running Sneakers © Getty Images For a statement street style appearance, a pair of running sneakers crack the fashion code like none other. Choose a style that has minimal branding. Consider bright coloured sneakers, just in case you wish to score extra attention on your shoes than your outfit. 5. Chelsea Boots © Getty Images Be it a lace-up or a desert or Chelsea, boots are a shoe staple for every man. When the mercury levels drop, these shoes, with their edgier aesthetic will be a fashionable choice to own. Invest in a good quality pair, preferably in tan or brown shade. Pull the trousers over the boots for another dollop for fresh style tip.
  8. While the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are probably celebrating their victory and the chance of running the country for another 5 years, there's one guy who is crying his heart out for losing in the Lok Sabha 2019 elections. YouTube Neetu Shuttern Wala, who hails from Jalandhar, stood independently in the recently held polls and claims to have gotten only 5 votes. When he was being interviewed, he broke down before the camera and started crying. Well, he is crying not because of the alleged 5 votes. He is crying because he got 5 votes despite having 9 people in his own family. Yes, his own family members betrayed him and didn't vote for him. The man, while wiping his tears, blamed his family and accused the EVM machines of tampering in the voting process, which resulted in his loss. The reporter then proceeded to leave no stone unturned to rub salt on the poor guy's wounds and asked him, "When your own family doesn't support you, how can you expect outsiders to help you?" Well, the man is so disheartened with the results that he has decided to not run for the elections ever again. We feel you man, we really do! But, people on Twitter are having a field day laughing at his misery. 9. Huawei is already working on its own operating system since Google revoked its access to the Android license earlier this week. The Chinese company says that its own operating system for both smartphones and laptops will be ready for use by fall this year. The new operating systems will first be released for use in China, and it would only happen if the situation between Huawei and Google does not change in the coming months. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The Chinese tech giant already had a contingency plan and has been developing its own OS for a while in preparation for a worst-case scenario, such as President Trump's blacklist. Huawei is looking to release the operating system that will work on both smartphones and laptops. This move comes as American companies need to seek permission from the US government before selling services and goods to Huawei. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla The company has detailed that the operating system will be available for markets outside of China either by the first or second quarter of 2020. Huawei's new operating system will work with other products such as wearables, auto, laptops and other devices. The operating system will be compatible with Android apps as well and would be 60% faster than Android. However, the new Huawei OS will not have access to the Google Play Store but the Chinese company has already started talks with third-party app store 'Aptoid'. The third-party store may come pre-installed on Huawei smartphones for global markets like India and Europe. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Huawei now has a bigger hurdle to overcome as the company has also lost access to ARM, the company that provides license for the basis of most mobile device processors worldwide. This effectively leaves Huawei's HiSilicon division useless, as Huawei will not be able to build their own processors for smartphones and even IoT products. Source: CNBC
  10. He is unfiltered, unapologetic, never shies away from putting forth his opinions and steers clear of the privilege that the 'Deol' tag offers him, particularly in his career. We are talking about none other than Abhay Deol here, the man who took his sweet time to carve a niche for himself in the industry, solely on his acting prowess. While most actors were busy ensuring their box office scores kept soaring, we had Abhay on the other side, churning out meaningful stories with his power-packed performances. He is surely among the rare breed of sorted actors we have in the industry right now. Be it 'Dev D' or 'Aisha' or 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara', Abhay has never failed to impress us with his brilliance in his craft. If you have been missing watching him on the big screen, we have some good news for you. Abhay is coming back with his Netflix series 'Chopsticks' and a film titled 'Jungle Cry'. If you go by the trailers, you would have gotten an idea by now that something great is in store for you. Before you see him on the big screen and on your laptop screens, MensXP got you the unfiltered version of Abhay Deol, as we got a chance to interact with him and talk about some rather controversial issues. When we asked him if he has come to terms with the idea of his persona in the industry, which is known for being someone with rather strong opinions, Abhay said, "not sure what there is to come to terms with. Isn't that a good thing? As long as you don't force your opinions on others and are open to new ideas, there's no problem." If you have seen any of Abhay's films, you would know that he is known more for his choices of offbeat cinema. As a movie buff, I wanted to know what does he see in a script before giving a final nod to it. "Relatability, originality, context. I'm attracted to stories and characters that I can relate to, I look for originality even if it is a genre that has been done many times, and context, by which I mean where is it placed, how does it relate to that place, what is it saying about that place and why." Abhay started way too early when we talk about content-based cinema. Now, Bollywood is completely changing and content has now become the king. We have unconventional heroes like Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal and Ayushmann Khurrana taking the lead. The actor is proud of the change in the industry and said, "I think it's great! Technology has played a disruptive role all across the world and I was waiting for it to happen in our industry. When I was making non-conformist films, they got a release because coincidently the multiplex boom was happening. That came to an end, as there could only be a finite number of cinema halls we could have. With the digital era, that space is now limitless! The change in audience tastes has also happened because the generation that is going to the cinemas now was too young to be consumers when I was pushing hard for change. They've grown up exposed to world cinema/shows from a very young age and that explains their rejection of the old guard of Bollywood lately, and their embrace of more relatable actors, characters, and stories." View this post on Instagram Basking in the light of the #wintersun. A post shared by Abhay Deol (@abhaydeol) on Dec 4, 2018 at 1:47am PST Abhay shocked everyone when he took on the who's who of Bollywood and slammed them for promoting racism through their fairness cream endorsements. Talking about endorsements, it has become a clear shot formula for actors to be in the scene, even if they don't really stand by the product. I asked Abhay if he thinks that the concept of celebs endorsing such products blindly, should completely disappear from the scene. "Yes, I think celebs should not endorse brands that go against their principles. For example, if celebs who endorse fairness creams actually believe that fairer is better than darker, then that's fine. The thing is if they actually believed that, then they should find themselves to be inferior to fairer people as they themselves are dark in real life. And no matter how fair you are, as an Indian, you will always be dark in the context of the world. Then there are brands that pollute not just the body but also the environment, like all colas. On one level, all products are destructive to a degree, some more than others and I tend to side with the ones that cause the least damage because, after all, endorsements have become integral to an actor's career. Even the media plays its part, as endorsements are (often) their only source of revenue. We need to call out all players, not just the celebs to be 'fair'." Abhay said loud and clear. Abhay has always been very transparent in his approach to everything that he strongly believes in. Has it ever happened that he was rejected because of his transparency? Turns out, "many times." Well, that's how it works for people who are very blunt and transparent. So, what's next for him, "My next release is 'Chopsticks' which is the first Netflix Original film out of India. It goes live on its platform on the 31st of May," said Abhay. Are you excited for this one? His journey has been turbulent and he has had his own set of struggles. But what's more important is that he actually learnt from the things that held him from growing even more. "Everyone goes through struggles, successes, and failures. It's part of life and I'm glad I've got to experience both, the highs and the lows. You cannot appreciate the highs unless you have gone through the lows. As I said, everyone goes through highs and lows but not everyone learns to appreciate both, as many people do not like the lows. This is why there's a whole industry selling you a pill for your 'depression' or 'sadness'. I am aware that I've to lead a privileged existence and I am grateful for it. I've done exactly what I've wanted to, lived my life authentically and there are not many people who can say that." A post shared by Abhay Deol (@abhaydeol) on Jun 15, 2018 at 7:08am PDT The Deol tag eventually got me asking him about Nepotism that became a huge deal a while back. For the uninitiated, Nepotism is 'the practice among those with power or influence of favouring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs'. I asked him if he relates to the word and does he think having relatives in the industry helps the person grow, or does one have to constantly prove their caliber? To which Abhay had a rather strong response, "It's both a privilege and a curse. If you look at the current crop of actors, 99% of them are from a film family, the 1% left over are proteges of those with influence. It's unfair to point to Bollywood alone and call out its nepotism. Don't you see it in politics and big business as well? Most people would not like to hear this, but nepotism is part of Indian culture. Where do you think cast, 'Jati' comes from? The son is born into a community and carries forward the work of his father while the women get married and become housewives. Most of the country still operates under this Brahmanical system, the very thing both Gautam Buddha and Mahavira rebelled against. So, if you want to criticize Bollywood for its nepotism, look at your own family and ask the question, 'am I willing to marry outside my cast?' or 'am I running my father's business?' or 'will I let my maid or driver sit at the dinner table with me and eat with me?' Because all of these questions, believe it or not, are linked to our unique brand of Nepotism." 11. In 1988, a 6-year-old boy went for his first live concert with his parents in New York. At the legendary Madison Square Garden, the kid, who was possibly one of Mithun Chakraborty's biggest fans, saw his idol perform live in front of 20,000 screaming fans. Fast forward to the present, and that 6-year-old fanboy found himself sharing screen space with his idol, Mithun Da as a co-actor, in 'The Tashkent Files'. © Prashantt Guptha The little boy we're talking about is actor Prashantt Guptha, who in an exclusive interview with MensXP, spoke about how his journey and how it is nothing less than a 'divine miracle' for him to do a film with Mithun Chakraborty. BTW, did we tell you, 'The Tashkent Files' has been critically acclaimed and is doing incredibly well at the box office? Taking cue from 'Gully Boy', Prashantt said, "the milestone success of 'THE TASHKENT FILES' gives me that apna time aayega kind of feeling." © Prashantt Guptha "From 'Issaq' to 'Neerja' to 'The Tashkent Files', I came here to stay and my time has come," - Prashantt Guptha. Being a fan is one thing, but working with your idol as a co-star is a surreal experience. When we spoke to Prashantt and the excitement in his tone said it all, "the joy of going from a fanboy to co-star is no less than a divine miracle. How can I ever forget the vivid memory of him dancing to 'Krishna, dharti pe aaja tu' in front of 20,000 screaming fans. Never did I imagine that 30 years later I would work with him in a film and be on the same poster." © Prashantt Guptha When asked about his experience, he said, "Had Dada not made me comfortable from day one, I would have been nervous throughout the whole film. That was one memorable moment, where you are sitting with him and cracking jokes, eating together and even get a compliment from him. When he heard this (New York concert) story, his eyes were glittering like there were stars in his eyes." Success stories don't happen in a day, as everyone goes throuh his or her fair share of struggle. For Prashantt too, it wasn't a cakewalk or luck that worked in his favour. From facing multiple rejections, humiliation at the hands of some people to battling depression; Prashantt's struggle not only made him stronger and wiser but also gave everyone around him hope that if you have willpower, then nothing can stop you. © Prashantt Guptha Everyone comes to Mumbai with dreams to make it big in Bollywood and so did Prashantt. But, when the harsh reality dawned on him, his perception of the industry changed, "I have never appreciated how some people have treated me. I hate how people ignore you. I hate that until you haven't made it big, there's absolutely no talk about your craft, your attitude or your decency as a human being. People look through your face, look through your eyes and they ignore you. That really hurts and belittles you." However, the treatment of some people never deterred him from doing what he wanted to do, "Indeed it is traumatic to remember the ways I was treated, but the learnings have healed me too. Looking back, I have nothing but gratitude for how these experiences with people, situations, and this industry overall have shaped my being and strengthened my soul." © Prashantt Guptha He further revealed, "Here in India, we have a saying, 'chai se zyaada ketli garam'. You'll be surprised to know the biggest people I've worked with, be it the Rajshris, Vivek Agnihotri or stalwarts like Naseer (Naseeruddin Shah) saab and Mithun Da, have been the nicest. Yet with the 'gatekeepers' of the offices, the secretaries and at times assistants, I've been subjugated to so much belittling and mental torture. It was simply power-play. They didn't care where I came from, what I have done, how nice I am, whom I came through, or how talented I was." © Prashantt Guptha Things were never rosy for him. Multiple rejections and most importantly, the way people treated him, slowly slipped him into depression. "When you go through all of it, you become very bitter, you become very resentful, you hurt yourself and go through mental torture." When asked about the lowest point in his career, he said "There wasn't just one low point in my career. The accrued low points led to clinical, psychological and emotional issues and that was the worst of what I've been through. Even worse was the pain my journey put my family through." © Prashantt Guptha But Prashantt never gave up nor did he let depression or the clinical issues he was going through pull him down. He not only overcame depression, but also proved his mettle to the world like a true boss. In fact, he is grateful for having gone through depression, "because that shaped me as an artist in multiple ways. You learn so much about life, learn to help others and going through a very bad patch in life shapes you for the rest of your time." Having battled and overcome depression himself, Prashantt has an important message for his fans and all those people who are reading this right now, "Depression is a very bad thing and I would say it to anybody who is going through it, the best thing you can possibly do is talk to a friend or a relative. Talking to people will really heal you through this phase. I went through it and I have no regrets anymore. That time I did, but not anymore." © Prashantt Guptha Currently, Prashantt is working on a film with veteran actress Revathi. On talking about his co-actor and the chemistry he shares with her, he said "I am currently doing a film with Revathi, where I play her son and that has been my toughest and most enjoyable role. Revati ji, who is a three-time national award winner, is by far one of the finest human beings." He is also doing another short film with actress Bidita Bag and a feature film with Bengali superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee. What's more, it is his hardwork and talent that has made him the only Indian actor ever to get cast as a lead in a Hollywood Christmas movie. The movie, 'A New Christmas' is the story of an Indian boy and an African girl, who meet in New York during Christmas and fall in love. © Prashantt Guptha From being a little boy in New York who moved to Mumbai and struggled to become an actor, Prashantt has come a long way, "My journey has made me a better actor, has made me a tougher human being, has taught me how to meditate and it humanises me in every way. But, I have no regrets. I have got from some fine examples to learn from. I learn from Irrfan Khan, Pankaj Tripathy and Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Manoj Bajpai. These are the actors I look up to and actors I want to become like. And they all took a very long time." We all love reading and talking about success stories, but how many of us get that 'one in a million' chance to live one? Prashantt Guptha got it and he grabbed the opportunity with both his hands. Today, his inspiring success story has become a valuable lesson we all can learn from.
  12. Salman Khan fans have been waiting for 'Dabangg 3' with bated breath for a long time now. The movie became popular among the fans because of Salman's raunchiness and yes, Malaika Arora's special item number 'Munni Badnaam Hui'. After Malaika walked out, Kareena Kapoor Khan stepped in for the second instalment of the franchise and made a mark with her song 'Fevicol Se'. Now, we can't help but wonder who will add that spice element in 'Dabangg 3'? What if we tell you that Salman Khan is set take the lead for this special number? Yes, you heard it right. According to a report in the Asian Age, Salman would be recreating Malaika's item song, but with a twist. A source told the publication, "Malaika Arora's foot-tapping item number Munni Badnaam Hui will be re-created and will feature Salman. This time, it will be presented to the audiences with a different twist." The source also added that the lyrics will drastically change and the song will be called Munna Badnaam Hua. Watch the original 'Munni Badnaam' song here: The report also suggested that the plot will take you back to Chulbul Pandey's college days before he joined the Police department. Dabangg 3' stars Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey, Sonakshi Sinha as Rajjo and Arbaaz Khan would be reprising his role of Makkhi. Directed by Prabhudheva, 'Dabangg 3' is scheduled to release on December 20, 2019. Stay tuned for more such updates.

  14. George RR Martin's acclaimed novel titled 'The Song Of Ice & Fire' when adapted into a show, almost ten years ago by HBO, left an overpowering impact on the viewers. Within the first two seasons, everyone was discussing the show, it's intriguing characters, the complicated relationships, deceit, wars, a very compelling plot and everything else the show brought to the table. The thing is, 'GoT' is not just your run of the mill epic-fantasy show but a lot more. It dissects the very fabric of society we live in, the people we interact with, the relationships we harbour and the battles we fight. If you look into it with more depth, you'll know how it seeps into a trajectory which is very familiar with today's modern world. Of course, there are no brothers having *** with their sisters (we hope not) and you may not see dragons flying about, but there are some firm life lessons you can take back from the show and apply them to your own life. © HBO One of the most stringent and important lessons the show gives us on a platter is the skill to be a good leader. If you see how the show is streamlined, it isn't much without apt leadership skills at display. Be it through a demonstration of power, strength, wisdom or union, leadership is the essence of 'Game Of Thrones' and through this article, I will point out 5 fantastic leadership lessons you can learn from the show, to apply in your personal life. (1) Always Listen To Advisors Well, of course, you probably won't have advisors because you're not the Protector Of The Realm TBH but it's always wise to seek counsel from someone who is more experienced and wiser. Whether it's the work front or personal life, if you're leading something fiercely, don't act upon your ego and heed advice when you need it best. When Tywin Lannister became the hand of the king to Tommen Baratheon, he asked him what makes a good king. After certain answers that Tywin wasn't happy with, Tywin told him a good king is someone who listens to his advisors and heeds their advice until he comes of age. Of course, he was saying that to manipulate him but there is a very deep lesson in there somewhere. So, if you're in a momentary fix with work, and if that's acting up on your leadership qualities, don't shy away from seeking help when required. © HBO (2) Always Know Your Weaknesses "A wise king knows what he knows and what he doesn't." These words were said by Tywin Lannister to his daughter Cersei, who'd come to him to ask him to bestow more responsibilities upon her as she had more to contribute than her brothers. Her father certainly thought otherwise, only because she was not smart enough to recognise her weakness. If you've noticed Cercei's rule, she's instilled more fear in people than respect for her and that's only because she's refused to realise her weaknesses over time. As a good leader, you must have enough faith in yourself to acknowledge what you're good at and what you're willing to improve, in order to bring clarity to your own thought process. If you do recognise something you're weak at, you're going to be more empathetic towards it, in order to understand graver problems that may lie ahead. A good leader who knows his weaknesses can turn them into strengths by acknowledging and addressing them. © HBO (3) Knowledge Is True Power Yes, strength does conjure power but when you have the knowledge, it lets you use your strength wisely and in a timely manner. Have you ever heard of the saying 'strike when the iron is hot?'. Well, it's something like that. I don't mean become an opportunist but gathering knowledge and using it when you really should, is a good aspect of leadership. If you see how Tyrion Lannister, or Varys or even Littlefinger displayed their leadership skills in the show, you'll know exactly what I mean. Both Littefinger and Varys rose from modest origins and made their way into the small council by displaying a sheer thirst for understanding everything and using it at the right time. They're not perfect examples of great leaders but they used one of the skills fairly well. Tyrion, on the other hand, always was the smart witty one, who used knowledge to the greatest advantage and became the hand of the queen, eventually. Another good example from the show is Samwell Tarly, who was forced to become a part of the Night's Watch, but his interest lay in reading books and applying that knowledge in resolving conflicts, and he did so fairly well in the show. You might be street smart, which is also an essential skill to lead but if you gather enough knowledge over time, it makes you wiser, resilient and unlike Jon Snow, you know things! © HBO (4) Always Plan Ahead By planning ahead I don't mean foresee an undeniable future, by planning ahead I mean always look at the many possibilities and go through them until you trust your instincts and chose the right one to follow. One always needs good leadership skills to study the situation thoroughly and take appropriate action, which can also help in the future too. That's what makes Jon Snow an excellent leader. He always led by example and examples told him about the foreseeable future, and he would apply those learnings to his present. For instance, when he witnessed the Night King's army, he immediately took action because he knew what was coming for the world. He went beyond the wall to persuade the wildlings to join him in the fight, even though he lost his life for it. He went to the south and bend the knee, just so Daenerys Targaryen could help him fight. He initiated a meeting between all the leaders to warn them against the dead and persuade them to fight together, even though a few backed out. He planned ahead because he saw some important shortcomings he obviously couldn't overcome alone. Always be wary of every situation, while you lead! © HBO (5) Be Fair In Your Judgements Fairness is an important quality every leader should practice. Having just democratic leadership skills can take you where you really want to be. If you think about the welfare of everyone you're working with or for those who work under you, you're already a good leader. Daenerys inspires both loyalty and respect from those who follow her. And why shouldn't she? She is a fair leader after all. She gives everyone free-will to follow her and never demands people to accept her as a leader. When she freed slaves from the 3 cities of Slaver's Bay, now known as the Bay of Dragons, she never forced anyone to follow her lead. She gave them a just and fair choice and they all decided to make her their queen, only because she acted fair, unlike their previous 'masters'. Her use of power and her dragons was minimal when it came to earning the respect of her people. If you're leading a team, always be fair in judging their demeanour, behaviour, practices and their work and then make a fair assessment out of that. If you're a fair leader, you'll earn more respect than someone who uses power to lead. © HBO There are many more leadership skills we can all learn from 'Game Of Thrones'. Hopefully, your accent to leadership isn't as cut-throat as the show, but whatever it is you're leading, if you apply the above-mentioned skills, you're sure to ace your endeavour in every way possible!

Amongst the brutal chaos that has engulfed Sri Lanka due to the serial bomb blasts that went off in Colombo over the last few days, there are some people who've taken upon themselves to act as messiahs during difficult times in the country. Over 300 people, including foreigners, were killed last week in the terror attack and local heroes are ascertaining that help is provided in every way possible © Twitter For instance, Irfan, an Uber cab driver helped an Indian businessman in distress and one has to be very noble to give the kind of assistance the cab driver gave his Indian customer, during extremely turbulent times. 25-year-old Ashwin Rangarajan, a finance consultant from Bengaluru was scheduled to leave for India on Sunday whose flight was delayed for over 12 hours, due to the aftermath of the blasts in the city. It was a difficult journey to make, from where he was to the airport, but he made it on time and flew back to India safely, and the person responsible for this was Irfan, his Uber driver. © Times Of India The journey Ashwin had to make till the airport was about 45kms long and he had to do it by going through the chaotic streets as the impact of the blasts were still fresh, everywhere. When Irfan got the call for duty, his first instinct was to cancel the ride to avoid any danger along the way, but he trusted his instinct and accepted Ashwin's booking for the airport, making sure he reached safe and sound. Even though Irfan's family was dead against him accepting the long ride to the airport as there were rumours floating about that Muslims were being attacked in the city post the blasts, Irfan thought it was his duty to help a fellow survivor out and instead, acted responsibly. © Pintrest This is a pure indication of the fact that in times of grave crisis, there are still people who act through the sheer presence of mind and do the right thing and can be eventually counted on with regard to their responsibility! Kudos Irfan, we're proud of you!

  17. DC is known for the depth and darkness it shows in its movies, and it is never just about good guys fighting the bad guys. It is so much more! It is about the struggles of the superhero, his fight with his inner demons and his struggles to keep at least some of his conscience alive. DC has produced much more than movies, it has produced characters. Characters which make you realise that even superheroes are not invincible. Characters which make you realise that everyone is fighting their own battle, no matter how powerful they are. Characters who don't have the spare time to entertain the audience by doing some silly things. But it all changed with 'Shazam'! 'Shazam' seems like a Marvel movie, more than a DC movie. Totally made for kids, with almost no depth. Good guys fighting bad guys, good guys win, then end. Hell, even Marvel came out of this kid-friendly storyline and gave us 'Infinity War'. Their only movie which actually has some depth. Thanos is the best character that Marvel created, a character with some depth. The way the audience loved him, DC should have set a new bar with the character of 'Shazam'. They should have launched something dark, someone, who has to fight the battles within before he can save/destroy the world. But unfortunately, Shazam came out as just another guy who got lucky. 'Shazam' reminds you of all the Marvel movies before 'Infinity War', and this is not a compliment. It is strictly for children and has zero scope for an adult fan who seeks deep emotions in a DC movie. What makes it worse is that the launch of this movie is almost after DC launched the show 'Titans', one of the best and certainly darkest shows of DC. It's really hard to understand what DC was thinking while making such a light movie. They could have made at least the second half a bit dark. Let's hope they stop this experimentation right here and get back to following their script which shows the inner battles of the character more than his battles with the supervillain.

Jadhav has always looked up to the Indian wicket-keeper and has commended his ability to stick to the crease, remain calm under testing times and finish games in favour of his country with a bang. “I can't put it out in words. Every time I see Mahi bhai, it instils confidence in me. That sort of aura is like, that you see him and feel that 'I will deliver today'. He has the knack of getting the best out of every player and that's what everybody loves about him,” Jadhav had said after playing a 81-run-innings in an ODI match against the visiting Australians in March. “The kind of cricketer I am today is because of him. He has always encouraged me… He had seen me in Zimbabwe first and in the New Zealand series at home in 2016, he just wanted two overs from me and luckily for me in my second over, I got two wickets.” Belonging to the 'Whistle Podu' franchise, Dhoni and Jadhav are enjoying their well-deserved top spot on the points table of the league with a season-best record of seven wins to one loss in their eight games played. Super Kings are to take on Kane Williamson and SunRisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday.
  19. Acer just showed off its new gaming laptop that has a keyboard that comes out from the main body. According to the company, this design helps keep the laptop cool and the laptop is called the Predator Helios 700. The laptop comes with Nvidia's latest RTX 2080/2070 GPU and Intel's i9 mobile processors. © BCCL The extendable keyboard basically allows more airflow to the processor and GPU in order to prevent throttling and overheating. This design lets the Predator Helios 700 make more room for fans which are revealed when the keyboard is extended. More airflow means that laptop will have more scope for overclocking, in theory. However, we will only know that once we get to test it ourselves. Along with the keyboard, the touchpad also slides out along with the keyboard at an angle so that it is comfortable to use. © BCCL Even the WASD keys on this laptop are raised and are pressure sensitive just like modern controllers. This will enable gamers to put the right amount of force to carry out activities in-game. For example, if you press the “W” key halfway, your character in your game will walk at a slower pace. Once pressed harder, your character will walk faster or run. “Continuing to deliver best-in-class performance, gamers can look to Acer's Predator Helios line for powerful and affordable gaming notebooks,” said James Lin, General Manager, Notebooks, IT Product Business, Acer Inc. “They are innovative, future-proof and reliable thanks to advanced thermal technologies that keep them cool during intense gaming sessions.” © BCCL In terms of display, the Helios 799 has a 1920X1080 resolution display with a refresh rate of 144Hz. The display has NVIDIA G-Sync support for better performance however we would have liked to see a 4K display. The laptop's price would increase considerably, however, a 4K variant would be a welcomed addition to the portfolio. The Predator Helios 700 gaming notebooks will be available in North America in April starting at USD 2,699.99; in EMEA in July starting at EUR 2,699.00; and in China in June, starting at RMB 19,999.
  20. In this article, I'm not going to tell you about the basic stuff which everyone carries to the gym like perfume, towel, shaker, etc. © Dsptch Gym It's not about carrying a supplement shop and carrying things like: 1) BCAAs 2) fat burner pills 3) glutamine The below 5 essentials will help you in getting the best out of your training and will help you face your most challenging exercises with confidence. These 5 gym essentials can take your training to the next level if used properly. 1) Flat Shoes: Flat shoes are one of the best shoes for weight lifting. They have a solid grip over the gym mats and provide safety when lifting a heavy load. Flat sole shoes like converse, vans, etc. A huge benefit is the ability to activate more muscle and recruit more fibres. These shoes enable you to push through the floor much easier, which will allow you to produce more force during a lift. When you work out, especially during leg exercises you have to be driving through the heels. It is very hard to drive force through the heel in running shoes. The sole does not support that. Lifting shoes can help you to feel sturdier during heavy squats, deadlifts and any other free compound lift. 2) Knee Sleeves Or Wraps Knee sleeves or wraps protect your knees and give you the confidence to lift heavy loads on squats, leg press, etc. It also provides joint warmth. Don't wrap your knees with knee wraps too tightly it might block your blood flow. Keep the tightness from 7-8/10. For knee sleeves, go for neoprene material 7mm-10mm. 3) Weight Training Belt: A belt can be a useful piece for supportive strength equipment in your training, but it shouldn't be relied on. © Getty Images It's always a better idea to build a solid foundation of muscle and strong lifting mechanics before reaching for & possibly overusing a belt. Weight lifting belt keeps your lower back safe. It supports the torso during big lifts like squats, deadlifts, bench press, overhead press, etc. It also provides you with confidence when loading weights on the bar. 4) Lifting Straps: Wrist straps can be beneficial when performing any pulling movements or holding any heavy load. It prevents you from grip failure. Grip failure is one of the main reason where you shift back from lifting a heavy load. You can use lifting straps on any back movements, deadlifts and shrugs. How to put the straps? Setting on your wrist straps and attaching them to the bar can be critical. Wrapping technique will change based on the length of the strap and where the loop is stitched. Everyone has their favourite method, but here's mine: I find it comfortable to wrap one hand exactly where I want it, then wrap the other hand closer to the already-wrapped hand (so I can use it for help with the wrapping method), then push the second hand into position. 5) Training Logbook: A training log book can be helpful to note down how much work you put every session. You can track your sets, reps, load, etc. Training without a plan not knowing how much weight to lift, the number of reps you should be doing and what you're trying to improve is like taking a road trip without a map. Your main goal is to improve on what you did in your last training session, that's called progression. Any workout without progression means you're not developing, which means you didn't have a productive workout. 21. 'Kalank' is a period film, set in pre-independent India about an elite family and conflicts that escalate to communal tensions parallel with impending partition. With a stellar cast of Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Kunal Khemu, the film does look very promising. Set to release on 17 April 2019, Kalank's marketing has been a mix of having the on-screen couples twin in the same colour and wearing long flow-y ethnic kurtas and sherwanis to commemorate the film's appeal. We saw the entire cast dressed as if ready to crash a destination wedding. These outfits are so good that you'll want to steal them for the next wedding season. One of the recent outfits that we really liked was Aditya Roy Kapoor's, who was wearing an asymmetrical sherwani. Take a look: © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani The sherwani comes in two layers. The outer layer is powerful, blue solid with thick contrasting white buttons, the inner layer extends till the ankle on one side and is stitched in an assymetrical cut. The sherwani is so fascinating that we think it's a perfect option for a bestfriend's wedding because firstly, it's not the kind of sherwani just anyone would wear to a wedding, so you'll look different but it doesn't even look bizarre. In fact, people will be only envious of this outfit.
  22. You think you are 'too millennial' to use a shaving brush? Well, think again! An old school tool that your father and grandfather used might also be a great tool for you. Why you ask? 23. Ever since making his debut in 2016, Jasprit Bumrah's consistent bowling performances have allowed him to establish himself as India's go-to bowler in dire situations across formats. If his anomalous, sling-arm action has troubled some of the best in the business, Bumrah's natural pace and peculiar release point of his deliveries make him a nightmare for the opposition batsmen. Such has been his accuracy that the steaming yorkers he bowls manage to find the bottom of the stumps more often, than not. For someone who thrives in limited-overs cricket, Bumrah takes his game to a whole new level in the Mumbai Indians (MI) jersey while plying his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The success and popularity of Bumrah can be ascertained from the fact that a lot of youngsters have been seen trying to copy him in the past. An under-13 youngster was spotted copying Bumrah's action in Hong Kong's U-13 League recently. And, then, during India's tour of Australia, a young kid was also spotted executing Bumrah's unorthodox to perfection. Have RCB found their Jasprit Bumrah? ð¤ #IPL2019 pic.twitter.com/ib4C2oCSFW — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) March 26, 2019 A similar incident came to the fore recently when a young seamer, with an action similar to Bumrah, was seen bowling to Moeen Ali in the nets during the training session of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The brief video shared on the social media showing the young bowler imitating Bumrah has taken social media by storm. The young bowler in question is believed to Mahesh Kumar, a local lad, who has been a net bowler for RCB in the past. Though it will still take some time for the youngster to get a game with RCB, cricket fans were clearly smitten by the next Bumrah. While some claimed that RCB might have unearthed a new Bumrah, others were just in awe of the similarities between the two. Virat Kohli-led RCB will hope to make use of the young bowler, if he's given an opportunity, to turn their fortunes in the IPL. After suffering a crushing seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the opening match, RCB will be eager to bounce back when they host Mumbai in what promises to be a pulsating contest on 28th March.
  24. We went months without anything related to 'Avengers: Endgame' and now, everything's coming at the same time. I'm talking about the how the cast bombarded us with their character posters for the movie last night and I'm so living for it. An accurate representation of the Marvel fandom last night - But, there was one specific poster that was a little unexpected and made everyone go crazy with new fan theories. Yep, the Loki poster that Tom Hiddleston himself shared. As soon as that poster came out, everybody - including me - was convinced that Loki is alive and will somehow come back in 'Endgame'. © Marvel Loki was the first one to die in 'Avengers: Infinity War' and that too in the first few minutes, but that can't be the end of it, and I'm not just saying that because I'm a huge fan and have even named my dog after him. Loki has to be alive, if not for the fans, then for Thor. That guy has lost everything and most probabaly personally blames himself for the snap since he couldn't stop Thanos. Imagine him reuniting with his brother? How great would that be! Also, I don't have any theories about how he'll come back, I'm just saying this as a fan. 1 month. #AvengersEndgame pic.twitter.com/Vqp2ZGXZXj — Tom Hiddleston (@twhiddleston) March 26, 2019 Yes, more characters who died before the 'dusting of 2018' have their own posters - Gamora and Vision - but they haven't ever died and come back to life before like Loki. Or maybe, it's not even coming back to life and there's actual time travel and the Avengers go back to the battle of New York in 2012. © Marvel Russo Brothers have kept everything so hidden and have probably even heavily manipulated the trailers, we can't say anything for sure right now and we'll just have to wait a month, a long painful month. But, the wait doesn't mean people's speculation has to stop and Loki stans are living right now. Honestly can't tell. Loki stans, how we doing? https://t.co/RMddojHWJZ — mar vel (@marvelunsolved) March 26, 2019 The good with the bad. the good news: - pepper is alive - val is alive - happy is alive - we finally see bruce and not the hulk the bad news: - shuri is dead - loki is crying - peter looks the saddest because his death hurt the most - shuri is not missing SHES DEAD — sylvia. 25. A second heartwarming story on Twitter in one day and not a story about a bunch of trolls? How? I never knew this was even possible. Okay, keeping all the jokes aside, I would just like to say Twitter is having a good day today. First, there was a son who helped his dad who was about no customers showing up at his donut shop with the power of social media and now, a huge company took out the time to give the perfect response to a little boy with big dreams. Alan Joyce, the CEO of Qantas, an Australian airline took the time to respond to 10-year-old Alex Jacquot who had sent him a handwritten letter asking for advice about his own airlines called Oceania Express. Just look at the adorable little letter! He's already working on his dreams and has tried to set up everything, he's so serious about achieving this that he wrote to a man who he knows can guide him. This kid is going places, I can tell you that right now. Well, a CEO of big company is obviously busy but I still can't get over how Alan Joyce took out the time to give a proper response to Alex. After all, CEOs help out other CEOs. Here's the letter Alan sent back to Alex: Such a good way to encourage a little kid to go and achieve his dreams. You already know that Alex is going to remember this letter his whole life, and it will probably motivate him as well. Look at how happy he looks! Our competitors don't normally ask us for advice, but when an airline leader reached out, we couldn't ignore it. Naturally, there was only one way to respond: CEO to CEO. pic.twitter.com/JTFpzn5a6Y — Qantas (@Qantas) March 11, 2019 Everyone will be flying with Oceania Express in a few years. Corporate Australia taking our young people seriously! I love it! Investing in the future....Can't wait to book a ticket with Oceania Express....ð https://t.co/zJ8YBIyaLd — Jane Artup (@Janeartup) March 11, 2019 Well done. As a former Qantas employee, I could not be more proud than I am right now to be affiliated with a company (that I will always feel part of). Well done, Alan. — âHeather Forresterâ (@itsme_heather) March 11, 2019 Love all the hashtags. Hats off to Alan Joyce & @Qantas What an opportunity for Alex and all those Oceania Airline employees. I hope we see Oceania Airlines in the skies one day! #dreambig #dreamscancometrue #ifyoucandreamityoucandoit #kidpower https://t.co/Y0UektKGOa — Justin Hill (@jedjnr) March 11, 2019 Young fans are important. This is how business persons should respond to young fans. And if you haven't flown Qantas, you're missing out on one of my favorite airlines, and a gorgeous country to fly over and visit. https://t.co/cgv8yZF79I — Vic.castillo23 (@VC2388) March 11, 2019 Exactly. Seeing it posted on social media does make this more of a marketing exercise, but can't fault it if the end result is inspiring entrepreneurs of any age. Well done Qantas. — Jason Bowman (@freakdesign) March 11, 2019 He's coming for you! Brilliant! - And wonderful to see Catering is high on his list of priorities. Other Airline CEO's lookout! https://t.co/tRhnpnp6R5 — Jeremy Clark ð¬ð§ð¨ðð²ð¾ (@Trayset) March 11, 2019 This is so cute. Hey Alex - Pete drew some blueprints up for your first plane! Good luck! #TheProjectTV pic.twitter.com/HIkveqLWH5 — The Project (@theprojecttv) March 11, 2019 Yes. "Please take me seriously." Alex is very relatable. — Bela (@_Bellabyrinth) March 11, 2019
