  1. The nation saw a star in the making when a 20-year-old PV Sindhu stepped up to the occasion in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics and went head-to-head against Spain's Carolina Marin in the match of a lifetime, was overwhelmed by the experienced Spaniard and won the silver medal in the Badminton women's finals. © Reuters Since then, Sindhu has dominated women's badminton. Winning significant awards like the silver medal in singles and the gold in mixed doubles during the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, she had established herself as one of the greatest, most talented sportswomen in the world. But, it was time for her to get paid for her greatness and China's sports accessories giant Li-Ning realised her true worth. Sindhu, who was once a brand ambassador for the Chinese brand back in 2014-15, signed with the brand for the second time in 2019. While back in the day, India looked at Saina Nehwal as the only successful female shuttler, now, this young Hyderabad-born prodigy has shown to the world that she is worth every penny (maybe even more?) as Nehwal. In this extremely lucrative four-year contract between Li-Ning and Sindhu, the star is going to be paid â¹40 crore as sponsorship money while approximately â¹10 cr. for equipment, making for a deal worth a sum total of a whopping â¹50 crore. © Reuters One of the biggest deals in Badminton, the handsome contact came Sindhu's way a month after Kidambi Srikanth signed a four-year â¹35 cr. deal with the same brand. Sindhu was ranked seventh on the Forbes List of the richest sportswomen of 2018 according to which, the shuttler was worth $8.5 million (Rs. 64 cr. approx.). Add this big fat paycheque to the mix and you've got yourself a really comfortable lifestyle. Sindhu's deal is remarkably similar to that of Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, who signed an eight-year deal with Puma for a total of â¹100 crore split in annual payouts, i.e., â¹12.5 crore per year.
  2. POCO F1 was launched last year and has been in the news quite a lot, thanks to its pricing and offered features. It is still the cheapest phone to house a Snapdragon 845 processor, along with minor additions like liquid cooling. Xiaomi's POCO initially pushed the F1 as a performance phone, built for those who want speed. Slowly, the brand improved the camera output via multiple software updates and even gave out many new features in the POCO launcher. This made the phone have a good balance of features over time. © YouTube DxOMark is regarded as a formidable benchmark to test camera performance. They tested the POCO F1's rear cameras in terms of quality, and the device performed at the same outstanding level as the iPhone 8. The POCO F1 got a score of 91, at par with the iPhone 8 and very close to the Note 8. Taking a look at the results of the tests, DxOMark praised the device for fast and accurate autofocus while shooting both photos and videos. The camera also recorded “pleasant” and “vivid” colours in photos and videos “in all lighting conditions”. The POCO F1 shines in capturing stills with its fast autofocus, eye-pleasing colours and accurate white balance. © DxOMark The phone scores 90 points in the video department which is the same score that's awarded to the iPhone 8. Thanks to Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), the POCO F1 is able to reduce focus time significantly. We must keep in mind that the iPhone 8 costs two times more than the POCO F1. The POCO F1 sports a dual rear camera setup that includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor along with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor for depth sensing. The iPhone 8 has a single 12-megapixel sensor with optical image stabilization. © Reuters This isn't the first time POCO's camera has been appreciated. In a blind camera test last year, it scored the second position, beating even the likes of iPhone XS and Google Pixel 3. Considering the price, the POCO F1 is turning out to be a no-nonsense package that can deliver on performance, as well as above average camera. We're already hearing rumours about the POCO F2, and hope it'll continue forward the same legacy. Source: DxOMark
  3. Patriotism and nationalism are running hot and high in and around multiplexes today, owing to the release of two of this year's most anticipated movies. 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' and 'The Accidental Prime Minister' have hit the cinema screens across the country today, and enthusiastic movie-goers have been queuing up outside cinema halls since early morning. © RSVP Movies Certainly, as per the recent norms, Twitter has been kind enough to bombard other interested film enthusiasts with their personal reviews. We decided to do a round up of the initial Twitter verdict on Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam and Paresh Rawal starrer 'Uri', based on what Twitter users have to say about it. For the uninitiated, 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' is based on the surgical attacks of 2016. The plot sheds light on the numerous terrorist attacks that took place on the Indian side of the Line of Control (LOC), which eventually prompted the government to plan the surgical strikes. © RSVP Movies Vicky plays the role of Major Vihaan Shergill, Paresh Rawal will be seen as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, while Yami Gautam will portray the role of an intelligence officer. As per the initial reviews surfacing on Twitter, the general verdict is that the movie manages to recreate the incidents leading up to the surgical strikes, while the characters stay true to their character and don't go overboard volleying around their emotional baggage. The audience has appreciated the movie's screenplay, and vouched for its patriotism instilling storytelling and well-executed combat scenes. Some have even hailed the movie as one of the best war-movies since 'Border'! Check out what exactly people have said: So had the chance to see #URITheSurgicalStrike at media screeningâ ! 4. Labon par uske kabhi baddua nahi hoti, Bas ek maa hai jo kabhi khafa nahi hoti, Iss tarah mere gunaahon ko wo dho deti hai, Maa bahut gusse mein hoti hai to ro deti hai, Maine rote hue ponche the kisi din aansoo, Muddaton maa ne nahi dhoya dupatta apna, Abhi zinda hai maa meri mujhe kuch bhi nahi hoga, Main jab ghar se nikalta hoon dua bhi saath chalti hai, Jab bhi kashti meri sailaab mein aa jaati hai, Maa dua karti hui khwaab mein aa jaati hai, Aye andhere dekh le muh tera kaala ho gaya, Maa ne aankhein khol di ghar mein ujaala ho gaya, Meri khwaahish hai ki main phir se farishta ho jaun, Maa se is tarah liptun ki bachcha ho jaun, Maa ke aage yun kabhi khulkar nahi rona, Jahan buniyaad ho itni nami achhi nahi hoti, labon par uske kabhi bad'dua nahi hoti, bas ek maaN hai jo kabhi khafa nahi hoti...
