  1. Apple is inviting its users and iPhone photographers alike from around the world, to submit some of their best shots for its next “Shot on iPhone” campaign. Apple first started the “Shot on iPhone: campaign in 2015 when the Cupertino giant launched the iPhone 6. Apple mined Twitter and Instagram for pictures with the hashtag “#ShotOniPhone” that went on banners, billboards and magazine ads. The campaign was extremely successful as iPhone sales shot through the roof. © BCCL In fact, some of the best ads from Apple have come from user-generated content; especially from people who don't consider themselves photographers. Entering the contest is quite simple as you just need to upload your best pictures on Instagram or Twitter with the “ShotOniPhone” hashtag by February 7th. Weibo users can participate as well using #ShotOniPhone#. In the image caption, note which model was used. Alternatively, you can also submit the photo in its highest resolution to shotoniphone@apple.com with the file format 'firstname_lastname_iphonemodel.' © Adweek The pictures will be judged by a panel of judges and will select 10 photos that will be featured on billboards in select cities, retail outlets and an online store. The images will be judged by Pete Souza, the official photographer for President Barack Obama, Luísa Dörr who rose to fame after she photographed TIME's Firsts issue exclusively on iPhone and Austin Mann amongst others. If you are serious about submitting your images, you can find additional information here
  2. Honestly, what is with everyone's sudden interest in statues now? Like no one really cared about any statue in the country and now it's turned into a competition on who can spend the most money and make the biggest statue. After the unveiling of Statue of Unity, there was huge debate about whether it was a waste of money – it was – and even after so much criticism, spending thousands of crores on statues still is a good idea, apparently. © Twitter It's the game of erections and Karnataka also wants to play. Reportedly, the state government has proposed a 350 feet tall statue of Mother Cauvery at the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) reservoir in Mandya district. Yep, it's just a competition of who has the biggest, umm, statue. © Times Now The statue is expected to be finished within the next two years and will reportedly cost â¹1,200. So, pretty cheap, as you can see. “It is not exactly a statue, it will be like a tower. The land already belongs to the govt and we will be inviting investors to invest in it, no govt money will be used. It will be a tourist destination,” said Karnataka Minister DK Shivakumar was quoted as saying by ANI. © Twitter Well, even if the government won't be spending money on it, is making statues still the correct way of spending over thousand freaking crores?

  11. NEW DELHI: Defending champions India will take part in the Champions Trophy next month, the country´s cricket board said Sunday, ending weeks of speculation over the team´s participation in the premier tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the decision after a special general meeting held in New Delhi amidst a row over sharing revenues with the game´s world governing body. "The BCCI SGM unanimously decided that the Indian cricket team will participate in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy," it said in a statement. The squad for the 50-over tournament would be named on Monday, it added. The eight-nation Champions Trophy will be played in England and Wales from June 1. The BCCI had skipped the deadline for announcing the team and threatened a pull-out from the Champions Trophy over the dispute with the International Cricket Council (ICC). The dispute stemmed from ICC´s decision last month to amend rules so that less money and power was held by cricket´s "Big Three" -- England, India and Australia. The powerful BCCI stands to lose $277 million revenue over the next eight years under the sweeping changes approved by ICC members. The BCCI said it was keeping its legal options open, indicating the row was far from over. "The Board unanimously authorised the acting honorary secretary of the BCCI to continue negotiations with the ICC in the best interest of the BCCI while keeping its legal options open," it said in the statement.
  12. When people ask you what’s your favourite pastime, you often wonder if you can say ‘doing nothing’ without them judging you. Sleeping comes a close second. Plato said the ultimate aim of every human is happiness; so, if doing nothing gives you happiness, why not take it?! Our mothers and bosses might not agree with us but seems like South Korea does. There is an actual sport in the country where you have to do nothing, literally. © YouTube/AJ+ The Space Out Competition is an annual contest held every year in South Korea, and contestants are required to stare into space without dozing off. The one who manages to do ‘nothing’ for the longest time wins. You can’t use smartphones, or talk to fellow contestants. Basically, you just have to stare into space and daydream. We think we can win this one. This one-of-a-kind sport started in 2014 and is the brain child of visual artist WoopsYang. The aim of the sport was to slow down our owerworked brains and the artist wanted to show how we all are always exhausting our brain all the time. A phase of no thinking and working can be incredibly therapeutic. We agree. We have been practising ‘doing nothing’ as a means of relaxing for too long now. Its true though, isn’t it? every moment we are thinking something. Our brains are never quiet anytime. Work, love life, friends, social media – the brain is on an overdrive right now. It’s a good idea then to consciously give it a break. What do you think? As they say: “Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted.”
