  1. Some might call this week's 'Game Of Thrones' episode a little slow, but if you observed the episode closely, you wouldn't agree at all. This episode was extremely insightful and full of revelations. Seeing human behaviour closely as all characters prepare for seemingly imminent death, was pretty relatable. Not everyone acted the same. Take Arya, for example, the seven seasons have not always been good to her. The training with the faceless man was brutal but so was everything else and she matured beyond her years quickly. And yet at the brink of death, she chose to spend her possible last living hours making love because she wanted to know what it felt like. © HBO Even though some people could relate to this situation, it was still rather surprising to see Arya pursuing Gendry so strongly, considering we've seen her grow up on the show. Turns out, Maisie Williams had the same reaction when she first read the script. © HBO So, apparently, showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are known to have pranked actors in the past seasons with bogus scripts. "At first, I thought it was a prank," Williams told a leading publication. "I was like, 'Yo, good one.' And [the showrunners were] like, 'No, we haven't done that this year.' Oh f*ck!" But after realizing that is was, in fact, part of the last season, she was given leeway to decide how much she wanted to bare onscreen. "David and Dan were like: 'You can show as much or as little as you want. So I kept myself pretty private. I don't think it's important for Arya to flash. This beat isn't really about that. And everybody else has already done it on the show, so…," she further added. © HBO Joe Dempsey, who plays Gendry, had his own reservations about the show. “At the same time, I don't want to be patronizing toward Maisie—she's a 20-year-old woman. So we just had a lot of fun with it,” he said. Meanwhile, HBO, very sneakily clarified that Arya was, in fact, of age. By age 18 in Westeros you should have: - Had a pet. - Moved out on your own. - Travelled extensively. - Had a kill list. - Pretended to be the opposite *** to evade capture. - Been blind for a while. - Ticked at least three people off of your kill list. — HBO (@HBO_UK) April 21, 2019 So, now it all makes sense.
  2. The only day the world becomes absolutely unreliable is on April Fool's day because you never know if the content all around you is trying to prank you or not! And that's what most publications, websites and TV channels tried to do on the 1st, including Comedy Central. While scanning channels I stopped on Comedy Central to watch the most popular sitcom on television since the early man- 'Friends', and to my sweet horror, it wasn't a delight anymore to watch the series. They'd planned to air the show for 12 hours, from 6 pm till 6 am and the prank they played on us was harsh af! © Warner Bros Television They'd taken one character from each episode and dubbed his/her voice in Hindi, while the rest were speaking in English, as it was originally and let me tell you this-watching Friends being dubbed in Hindi is certainly an acquired taste! For instance, the first episode I put on was where Joey goes on a date with a girl who keeps fishing food from his plate, and then he says his iconic line "Joey doesn't share food!". Well, the only difference was that Joey's character was speaking in Hindi, while everyone else in English. So instead he said 'Joey khana nahi banthta!'. Well, all this seemed alien but that's not all! After a little while, it seemed like Joey's voice seemed very familiar, like I've binged heard his voice all through my 90s. Then the realisation donned on me- Joey's dubbed voice was actually Shah Rukh Khan! I wasn't sure if I should've been ecstatic or pissed off actually. © Warner Bros Television Well, CC went on to dub every character's voice for one episode each, till the crack of dawn. So Monica's voice was dubbed by Kajol, Pheobe's was dubbed by Kangana Ranaut, Chandler's by Saif Ali Khan, Ross's by Amitabh Bachan and Rachel's by Sonam Kapoor and they all took turns to speak in Hindi. While Comedy Central was creating a laugh riot all across the country by showcasing an absolutely new avatar for the world's most loved sitcom, I actually found it to be a little bit of a nightmare! It probably went on as planned but the stars dubbing the voices scrupulously, like they're still in the 90s, trying to make sure the audience knows it's them was a bit too much to handle. As I said, it was an acquired taste and after a while, I got used to Saif Ali Khan saying 'Mein hoon Chandler, aur mere paas sirf hasi mazaak hai'. It felt very familiar and endearing by the end of it TBH. © MensXP Head of programming, English Entertainment, Viacom 18's Hashim Dsouza made a statement and said: “Comedy Central has been the home of F.R.I.E.N.D.S and we've continually presented this iconic show through fresh and innovative programming that week-on-week keeps it at the pinnacle of most-watched shows in English entertainment. Delving deep into the spirit of April Fools, we're giving viewers a unique and bizarre version of their favourite sitcom, ensuring they enjoy this ultimate prank-day. For the longest time, Indian fans could only imagine and hope for a Desi F.R.I.E.N.D.S, but now that wait is over as we give them a glimpse to a whacky Hindi-speaking avatar of the show.” © Warner Bros Television That's quite a lot of work, to be honest, Comedy Central. Some parts did make me laugh though, parts that I got used to and didn't find funny in the past, seemed funny in Hindi for some reason. It could be the way they were dubbed and the Bollywood actors trying to embed their humour through their own style for each character. All in all, it was a good watch and something completely unexpected. If you missed out on it, I am not sure how you can watch a re-run of the same again but I do know Comedy Central doesn't lack innovation and they'll be back with something super fun, once again.
  3. AR Rahman is a great musician and composer, no one can deny that, but he may have missed the mark on his latest release big time. The 'Avengers Anthem' dropped yesterday and well, turns out it was the biggest joke this April Fool's day. From not being able to differentiate it from, say an IPL song, to just basically the entire desi fandom being so disappointed, I would just like to say, 'Avengers: Endgame' deserved better. Some people are still convinced that the song was just an elaborate prank for April 1st and the real song will come out soon because let's be real, this can't be it. People on Twitter are not holding back when talking about how much they actually hated this 'Avengers Anthem' and who can blame them? After listening to "Avengers Anthem" of A R Rahaman Me:- pic.twitter.com/7kSeEMyhiV — Rahbar Raza (@RbRaza007) April 1, 2019 It better be. That Avengers anthem by AR Rehman is an April Fool's joke, right? — Shriti ð¼ (@Zugambi) April 1, 2019 Okay. Cringe-worthy......ARR lost it completely....song is nothing special to marvel .....@Russo_Brothers @arrahman #MarvelAnthem @MarvelStudios — Vivek Swaminathan (@thetreadster) April 1, 2019 Drop the real one. Haha.. nice April Fool joke.. you got us ðð Now release the actual anthem.. — Vinit Tibrewal (@vinittibrewal) April 1, 2019 Another comparison. I was looking forward for this anthem.. But it Sounds like upcoming elections promo.. ð #generalelection2019 — Sandesh Sawal (@sandeshsawal) April 1, 2019 Here's hoping. After listening to this Thanos will wipeout the remaining half of the universe ðð#MarvelAnthem — suru (@nomad_soul_) April 2, 2019 It's not a sports event. Someone pls add a dislike button on Twitter. I survived no longer than the first 30 secs of the song. For someone who has been reading Marvel comics for almost 15 yrs, this is the opposite of special. @Russo_Brothers c'mon guys !!! This is a world cup anthem, not Avengers. — Saptarshi Chatterjee (@Saptarshi8290) April 2, 2019 Not a fan. That DC comment tho.
  4. A few days ago, Netflix teased us with a post that something big is going to happen in 14 days. Netflix tweeted, "Calendar nikaal. Tareekh likh le. 14 din mein kuch bada hone wala hai." This one tweet was enough to send all the 'Sacred Games' fans in a frenzy and giving them sleepless nights wondering if season 2 of 'Sacred Games' is finally dropping. Calendar nikaal. Tareekh likh le. 14 din mein kuch bada hone wala hai. — Netflix India (@NetflixIndia) March 19, 2019 Today, just a few minutes ago, they dropped another major bomb on all the fans in a series of cryptic posts. If there's anything more powerful than "Sab marenge sirf Trivedi bachega", it is this announcement, "Bolo 'Aham Brahmasmi.' 6 din mein sab kuch dikhayi dene lagega." © Netflix If you look closely, you might realise that there's a major hint hidden in the post, about the second season that all Gaitonde fans are desperately waiting for. There are four pictures and each one have titles like Bidalah-A-Gita, Katham Asti, Antara Mahavana and Unagamam. So MAYBE, there will only be four episodes in the season, but we aren't sure about it. View this post on Instagram Bolo 'Aham Brahmasmi.' 6 din mein sab kuch dikhayi dene lagega. A post shared by Netflix India (@netflix_in) on Mar 26, 2019 at 10:31pm PDT But, you know what else is coming in 6 days...April 1 which is April Fool's Day. So, we hope all this hype does not turn into a prank that no one saw coming. We'll only get to know all this after 6 days, when they drop more details about the season or the whole season. All these cryptic posts and our increasing excitement make us wonder that "Kabhi Kabhi lagta hai Netflix hi bhagwan hai."
  5. In the ever-competitive world of cricket, winning has now become the most important thing, nullifying all the other elements that once made us believe it was indeed a gentleman's game. It doesn't matter how you win or what you do to come out on top, all that we, sadly, care for today is trophies, rankings and records galore. Similarly, Indian cricket, too, has witnessed a major overhaul over the years. The technical perfection and humility of Rahul Dravid or the sheer politeness of Sachin Tendulkar are now a thing of the past as the MS Dhoni era focused on athleticism, run-making and electric fielding displays. But, while all those things seemed like the need of the hour in the ever-changing arena of international cricket, what followed later has surely washed away everything we once knew about the game. Under the tutelage of Virat Kohli, Indian cricket team might have scaled new heights across formats, but there has been a terrifying change in their approach towards the game. From flipping a bird to the crowd in stands, engaging in verbal volleys to even allegedly getting rid of their coach, Kohli has shown a whole new side of the sport that earlier took a backseat, at least in Indian cricket. While some had their concerns with the new culture in Team India, not many cared owing to the massive success of Kohli and his team. © Instagram/@hardikpandya93 Unfortunately, the patience of Indian cricket fans reached its saturation point when Hardik Pandya, a youngster who's still looking to make his mark, resonated the questionable devil-may-care attitude - incorporated by Team India - in his tone-deaf remarks about women on a popular chat show. From branding women like trophies to shamefully boasting of his 'conquests', Pandya was blatantly misogynistic and sexist, needless to say irresponsible, in his remarks about the other *** on national television. But, he wasn't done yet. If his boorish behaviour on the chat show left the viewers shell-shocked, Pandya's mockery of an apology which lacked remorse and ownership of his actions further infuriated the cricket fans. The 25-year-old claimed: "I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show". Like, seriously, Mr Hard (as he likes to call himself)? If the nature of a show can allow sportspersons or celebrities - looked upon as a source of inspiration and motivation by many - to get carried away to an extent where they lose their grip on the sense of responsibility, the wiser call would be, to opt out of such shows. But, even if the chat show had such a nature (as claimed by Pandya), the Baroda cricketer could or should have stayed true to the ethics and conduct of everything that Indian cricket represents and stands for. Rahul Dravid - The Bakra "harassment" episode. No stains on The Wall.ð pic.twitter.com/qKFHpf2aA2 — Vinay (@SemperFiUtd) October 14, 2018 The biggest example is Dravid who once appeared on a popular prank show and still came out as the gentleman we have come to cherish over the years. Appearing on MTV Bakra, the age when the channel had one too many Cyrus', Dravid was tested to his limits amid an annoying environment, aimed at extracting a fiery response from a generally calm and composed cricketer. But, 'The Wall' showcased immense patience that was often reflected in his tireless innings for India. Now, when you compare Dravid's situation with Pandya's, anyone with a sane mind would agree that the former, in accordance to the format of the show, was forced to endure a more severe and testing environment than the latter. But, unlike Pandya, Dravid neither got carried away, nor he lost his sense of responsibility. The former Indian cricketer could have easily blasted the woman (in the video) with expletives or harsh words, but he handled it like a true gentleman. Pandya was sitting comfortably, with all his bling, on a couch with his teammate. Even if the host was provoking him with controversial questions, the Indian cricketer could have, a choice he clearly had at that time, dodged it or answered differently. But, objectifying women and, boasting of 'conquests' and possessions like a Desperado on national TV was definitely not how we expect our sportspersons to act. © BCCL Back in 2016, during India A's tour of Australia, Pandya was all praise for Dravid, claiming: "For me, everything changed after my tour of Australia with the India A team. It is a tour that transformed me as a cricketer. I can't but thank Rahul Dravid enough for his contribution. I understood that there is a mental aspect about the game that needs to be worked upon. He (Dravid) made me mentally stronger”. For a man who once claimed that he learned the mental aspect of the game from one of the greats, Pandya, now, needs to learn and instil the mentality of a sportsperson from Dravid. It's one thing to mould yourself with time to continuously grow and compete at the highest level, but, if not anything else, Pandya and the current crop of Indian cricketers can surely learn how to behave and act responsibly from the former greats like Dravid.
  6. After surviving a scare in the 2nd ODI, the Indian cricket team put their best foot forward to produce clinical performances against West Indies to eventually sweep the five-match series 3-1. The turn of events during the fifth and final ODI once again highlighted why Team India is considered one of the best sides in limited-overs cricket. If Ravindra Jadeja's four-wicket haul restricted the Windies to a mere 104 runs, the sublime form of Rohit Sharma (63*) and Virat Kohli (33*) ensured India romped their way to an emphatic nine-wicket win at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. And, the fact that Kohli (453 runs) emerged with most runs and Kuldeep Yadav (9 scalps) with most wickets in the series goes on to show how dominating the Indian side has been against the Windies. Their brilliant showing in almost every facet of the game surely called for celebrations. And, that's exactly what the Indian cricketers were seen doing when they returned to their team hotel after the series triumph against the visitors. But, amid all the celebrations which also included a cake-cutting ceremony, two Indian stars stole the show. Back at the team hotel after an early wrap and it is time to celebrate.ð #TeamIndia #INDvWI pic.twitter.com/qW7mtAoXgq — BCCI (@BCCI) November 1, 2018 In a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Twitter, the Indian cricketers were seen arriving at the team hotel to a rousing welcome. Kohli was then seen making his way to the centre where a beautiful cake awaited him and his boys. And, it was great to see the Indian skipper asking Rohit to cut the cake on behalf of the team. While Rohit came forth to cut the cake, MS Dhoni and Jadeja were seen plotting a hilarious prank on the Mumbai batsman. And, as soon as Rohit did the needful, Dhoni asked Jadeja to burst some balloons right next to Rohit's ear. Surprised by the sudden noise, Rohit was scared shitless as both Dhoni and Jadeja broke into laughter. Apart from pulling off a brilliant prank on Rohit, Dhoni and Jadeja were earlier engrossed in an animated on-field conversation during the fifth ODI. In the 16th over of West Indies' innings, Shimron Hetmyer got struck on the pad close to the stumps. Jadeja and his teammates immediately went up in appeal, but umpire Anil Chaudhary denied the appeal. While Kohli and Dhoni were still mulling the idea of going for a review, Jadeja was convinced that the on-field umpire got it wrong. Dhoni was not sure but Sir Jadeja says it's out. Jaddu supersedes Dhoni and it's hitting the stumps. A reluctant review pays off. pic.twitter.com/IXdINbkqQ7 — This is HUGE! (@ghanta_10) November 1, 2018 Though Dhoni was convinced that it was not worth a review, Jadeja remained adamant that they bring third umpire Ian Gould into play. In a bid to avoid wasting a review, Dhoni even yelled at Jadeja for not forcing the third umpire's intervention. But, the Saurashtra cricketer insisted Kohli to go for a review after their animated discussion. Going against Dhoni, especially on DRS, is not something anyone recommends, but the replays suggested that Jadeja was indeed right on his call. The ball had pitched in line, beating the bat to hit Hetmyer right in front of the stumps and the hawk-eye suggested that it would have gone on to hit the middle stump. As soon as the replays confirmed Hetmyer's dismissal, the Indian fans cheered in the stands and Dhoni, for once, chuckled for being proved wrong.
