  2. Jeff Jenkins said he greenlit 'Rob and Chyna' after meeting with the couple, who appeared to be very happy in their relationship
  3. The Kashmir Files, helmed by Vivek Agnihotri, has turned out to be a huge success and is still performing well despite stiff competition from SS Rajamouli's RRR. Featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Darshan Kumar, and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles, the film depicts the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits during the Kashmir insurgency in 1990. View this post on Instagram Amid the huge acclaim for its heart-wrenching storyline and powerful performances, the latest buzz suggests that Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar too was approached for Darshan Kumar's role in The Kashmir Files. Yes, you read that right! Now the film's producer Abhishek Agarwal has reacted to the ongoing buzz. Talking to Bollywood Hungama about rumours of Akshay being approached for the film, the producer cleared, "Akshay Kumar was not approached for the film". View this post on Instagram Sharing details about Darshan's casting, he added, "As for the role Darshan plays, we had shortlisted a few names, but Vivek was like, 'I want this guy to play this role' he was very specific. So we brought Darshan on board". Seeing the record-breaking success of The Kashmir Files, many people have questioned the makers if they plan to share the profits with the victims, the Kashmiri Pandits. Reacting to it, Agarwal shared, "No, we have no plans about donating any amount from the profits. That is because when we were making the film we never thought that it would be so big. So we did not really even consider this option". View this post on Instagram For the unversed, The Kashmir Files has turned out to be the biggest hit among the post-pandemic releases. The film is expected to enter the Rs 250 crore club soon. Post The Kashmir Files, Agnihotri will now start working on the third and last film in the 'Files' trilogy titled The Delhi Files. 4. By domestic French standards, "La Famille Belier" (The Belier Family) was a hit, with three million people seeing it in theaters after its release in late 2014.
  5. Producer Savita Raj Hiremath, took to Twitter yesterday to point out the apparent double standards in the treatment meted out by the government to the new releases Jhund & The Kashmir Files. Starring veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan, Jhund was released on the 4th of March but has struggled to put out the numbers that had been expected of it. The post by Savita Raj Hiremath, a producer for Jhund, says that she’s perplexed why her film wasn’t made eligible for tax-free viewing, as seen in the case of The Kashmir Files. “I recently watched Kashmir files and as the story of Kashmiri Pandits exodus its heartbreaking and is a story that needed to be told. It is a good voice for Kashmiri Pandits..!! But as the producer of JHUND I am perplexed. After all Jhund is also an important film and has a story and a Big Message that has received tremendous acclaim and word of mouth from audience.” The producer of #Jhund FB post. #TheKashmirFiles pic.twitter.com/TSpetvUFh7 — Harneet Singh (@Harneetsin) March 19, 2022 Jhund a film about a Nagpur-based retired sports teacher who pioneered a slum soccer movement should have gotten rebates similar to the ones received by the Vivek Agnihotri directorial, at least that’s what Savita believes, as she continues in her post, “I want to find out what’s the criterion on which govt selects a film to support it so strongly by making tax free, endorsing it through social media and asking Offices to showcase the film or give half day holiday to its employees. After all jhund also has a subject that is so crucial to our country’s growth..jhund is not just talking about the disparity between caste and economic disparity but also shows a way to make the lower strat of society find their success story.” The Amitabh Bachchan starrer marked filmmaker Nagraj Manjule’s Hindi debut, having previously delivered critically acclaimed work with Fandry and Sairat. Despite a positive response from the audience, Jhund is struggling at the box office with it barely amounting to an estimated two-week total of Rs 17.25 crores. Do you think Jhund would have performed better if it hadn’t been for the concessions given to The Kashmir Files? Let us know in the comments! View the full article

  7. After a long wait, the makers of Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur-starrer Jersey finally announced the new release date. The film, which was earlier scheduled to hit the big screens on December 31 last year, will now release on April 14, during the Baisakhi weekend. Also, it'll be clashing with the much-hyped pan-India release KGF 2. While the Udta Punjab actor's fans are happy with the new date, others think that the clash might affect the business. View this post on Instagram Now, Jersey producer Aman Gill has opened up about the film’s new release date and clash with KGF 2. While talking to Bollywood Hungama, Gill said, "Previously, Laal Singh Chaddha and KGF 2 were supposed to come in cinemas on this date. Now, with the Aamir Khan-starrer shifting, Jersey has moved into the slot of Laal Singh Chaddha. It’s a four-day holiday - Thursday and Friday are both holidays. So, it’s one of the biggest weekends of the year. Hence, it could easily accommodate two big films, especially of two different genres. Ours is a family film while the other one is an actioner. So, both the films will cater to two different types of audiences". View this post on Instagram Further talking about the box office clash, he added, "There’s no competition between the two films. It’s not like we are trying to compete with KGF 2. In no way, any one of the producers is trying to brag that they are bigger than the producer of the other film". View this post on Instagram For the unversed, Jersey was the first film to get pushed ahead post the failure of Ranveer Singh-starrer 83 amid the coronavirus third wave and Omicron scare. Also starring Pankaj Kapur in an important role, the much-awaited film is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. Shahid's Jersey is the official Hindi remake of the Nani-starrer hit Telugu film with the same name. Interestingly, the Telugu film (April 19, 2019) too was released the same week as the remake. 8. Aditya Pancholi, who often makes headlines for wrong reasons, is back in the limelight for yet another controversy as film producer Sam Fernandes has filed a case against the actor. The producer has accused Aditya of allegedly abusing, assaulting, and threatening him in a hotel. According to reports, Sam has lodged the complaint at Mumbai's Juhu police station. View this post on Instagram After Sam's accusations, Aditya Pancholi too has filed a cross-complaint against the producer in the matter. Confirming the same, Mumbai Police told ANI, "Film producer Sam Fernandes has lodged a complaint at Mumbai's Juhu police station against actor Aditya Pancholi for allegedly abusing, threatening & assaulting him at a hotel. Pancholi has also lodged a cross-complaint". Film producer Sam Fernandes has lodged a complaint at Mumbai's Juhu police station against actor Aditya Pancholi (in file photo) for allegedly abusing, threatening & assaulting him at a hotel. Pancholi has also lodged a cross-complaint: Police pic.twitter.com/95wuNYalS5 — ANI (@ANI) February 9, 2022 Apparently, Aditya's son Sooraj Pancholi is the reason behind his feud with Sam. Aditya, reportedly, was pressuring Sam to retain Sooraj in his film based on the life of an Indian heavyweight boxer. Revealing the same, Sam informed TOI, "I had announced the film with Sooraj in the lead role in 2019. He shot for around 12 days for the project. However, things went awry after the first lockdown, as the investors did not want to back a film with Sooraj in the lead. I spoke to Sooraj about it, who himself asked us to go ahead with another actor. However, his father, Aditya Pancholi, insisted that we retain Sooraj and that he would get an investor, but that didn’t happen". A budget of around Rs 25 crore was needed to make the film. While Aditya too gave some money but that wasn't enough. Last month, on January 27, things took an ugly turn between them when the Yes Boss actor called Sam to a hotel for a meeting. Reportedly, the actor threatened the producer to take Sooraj in the film or else he wouldn't let the film be made. View this post on Instagram Aditya, on the other hand, levelled similar accusations against Sam, alleging that the producers misbehaved with him and demanded more money. Sharing his side of the story, Aditya told TOI that Sam came to him in February 2020 and asked for money after sharing a sob story. The producer told him, ‘Khatam ho jaaunga, ghar girvi rakh diya hai, vendors ka paisa dena hai’. Aditya then allegedly gave him Rs Rs 90 lakh 50 thousand. He added, "On January 27, he visited me at a hotel and, after a while, started misbehaving with me and talking rubbish about Sooraj and my family. He asked me for more money, and I refused. I asked him to return the money he had earlier borrowed, but he flatly refused. Next, I got to know that he filed an NC against me at the Juhu Police Station. I, too, filed an NC against him the following day. I have also filed an application for an FIR against him at the Versova police station". While Sam has accepted that Aditya gave him money but stressed that it was for his son's sake and the film. For the uninitiated, Sooraj made his Bollywood debut in 2015 with Salman Khan-produced Hero opposite Suniel Shetty's daughter Athiya Shetty. However, the film failed to make a mark at the box office. Later, he appeared in Satellite Shankar and Time to Dance. View the full article
  9. Kartik Aaryan was just like any other outsider looking for his place in the industry. He followed the conventional path and moved to Mumbai to pursue his dreams of acting. It wasn’t an overnight success as he had to face countless rejections, stay in rented accommodations with other flatmates and the likes during his days of struggle. View this post on Instagram He is now a famous face in the industry and has many upcoming projects. Kartik was roped in for the Hindi dubbed version of Allu Arjun-starrer superhit film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. As many of Kartik’s fans are looking forward to watching the movie, it’s sad how his unprofessional behaviour has been called out again. In an exclusive chat with India Today, producer Manish Shah revealed that Shehzada actor Kartik Aaryan reportedly threatened to walk out of the remake if the dubbed Hindi version was released in theaters. View this post on Instagram It was earlier slated to release on the 26th of January. However, it got cancelled after producer Manish Shah had a meeting with the makers of Shehzada. Shah said, "The makers of Shehzda were not keen to release the Hindi version in cinemas. Also, Kartik Aaryan said if the movie was released in theaters, he would walk out of the film, which would have caused Shehzada producers a loss of Rs 40 crores. It was extremely unprofessional of him.” Manish also added, "I have known Shehzada producers for 10 years. I cannot have people who are close to me losing ₹40 crores, so I dropped it. By doing this, I ended up losing ₹20 crores. I spent ₹2 crores only on dubbing. I wanted this film to be bigger than Pushpa: The Rise. If I do not release the film I will lose money, so now I am releasing it on my channel.” View this post on Instagram Making his stance clear, he stated, “I would not have done anything for Kartik Aaryan, I only did this because of Allu Arvind. Why would I do this for a Bollywood hero? I don't know him." Shehzada is being produced by Allu Aravind (who also co-produced Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo) in collaboration with Bhushan Kumar and Aman Gill. This is not the first time that Kartik has been called out for his unprofessional attitude on the film sets. It was reported that Dharma Productions dropped him from Dostana 2 because of his unprofessionalism. Reporting the development, DNA had earlier quoted a source close to the production house saying, “Dharma has decided to replace Kartik Aaryan in ‘Dostana 2’. Kartik expressed creative differences over the script of Dostana 2 after one and a half years. However, he completed nearly 20 days of shoot in 2019 after reading the same script and agreeing to it.” The source also added that lack of clarity on dates by the actor was also another reason to drop him from the project. “Also, lack of clarity on the commitment of dates from his agency is another reason. It has never happened in the history of Dharma Productions that an actor has shot a film for a while and then walked out alleging creative issues. Therefore, Dharma has decided to not work with Kartik Aaryan in future as well,” the source said. View this post on Instagram He was also in the news after he walked out from Shah Rukh Khan’s Freddie because of creative differences. What do you have to say about Manish Shah’s statements? Let us know in the comments section below. View the full article
  10. Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde-starrer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo was released in 2020 and turned out to be a huge hit. Last year, an official Hindi remake of the Telugu film was announced with Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon in the lead roles. Directed by Dishoom and Desi Boyz fame Rohit Dhawan, the Hindi remake is titled Shehzada which is among the most-anticipated films of 2022. View this post on Instagram Manish Shah of Goldmines Telefilms, who has bought the Hindi dubbing rights to Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, wasn't thrilled with the announcement of Shehzada and was all set to release the Hindi dubbed version of Allu Arjun's film in the theatres on January 26. However, Allu Arjun's father Allu Aravind, the producer of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo and co-producer of its Hindi version, soon intervened and talked to Shah. Later, Goldmines released a statement announcing the withdrawal of the theatrical release of the Hindi dubbed version of the Telugu blockbuster. Now, Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo is all set to premiere on Shah's TV channel, Dhinchaak. Talking about the Hindi dubbed version, Shah in an interview has revealed that a whopping amount has been spent on the dubbing. View this post on Instagram Speaking about the same, he told Pinkvilla, "We have spent Rs. 2 crores on the dubbing. In fact, all the songs from Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo have been dubbed in Hindi by the same set of singers, who sung the songs in Telugu". Well, that's indeed huge! Manish is optimistic that Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo would beat the TRP records set by Akshay Kumar's Laxmii when it premieres on television on February 6. He shared, "I want to break the records of Laxmii with Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Later on, the target is to break Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo records with Pushpa. I am very clear that all the big films will be preserved. Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo will run only on TV at this point of time, and I am not going to bring it on any digital platform, including my YouTube channel". Earlier this month, there were speculations that the makers of Shehzada had also offered a huge amount of Rs. 8 crores to not release the Hindi dubbed version of Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo. Reportedly, Shah had bought the dubbing rights for Rs. 4 crores and he would have earned a profit of Rs. 4 crores on his investment. While it is not yet clear if the development was confirmed or those were mere rumours, the team of Shehzada must be happy as things have turned out in their favour. 11. An actor who needs no introduction, especially after having essayed roles like Faizal from Gangs of Wasseypur and Ganesh Gaitonde from Sacred Games, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has proved his mettle as an actor in the industry not with the conventional roles, but by choosing unconventional and unapologetic roles. And so, when an actor of his stature makes a statement about someone else’s calibre, we want to listen. Like this time when the actor called fellow actress Kangana Ranaut, a ‘great producer’. © Kangana Ranaut Working on Tiku Weds Sheru, where the Manikarnika actress would be seen taking up a role not on the screen, but off of it, Nawazuddin is all set to star in Kangana’s digital debut as a producer. Sharing his experience of working with the National Award-winning actress, Nawazuddin said, “Kangana is a great producer and turns up on set each day. The way she adores her actors and takes care of them is amazing. The unit is very happy with her. All her suggestions only enhance the film, there is no interference from her." © Kangana Ranaut And this coming from Nawazuddin, who isn’t known to be diplomatic in his opinion, is quite telling of Kangana’s addition to the film from behind the screen as a producer. As far as donning a different role for the film was concerned, Nawazuddin shared how he even had to learn Salsa dancing for this film and despite it making him uncomfortable, he gave it his best shot. “If I were a calculative actor, I would have played safe roles. I wouldn’t have been able to play the unique characters that I have. I would be more concerned about the box office and would have wanted a heroine (in all my films). But, I was keen to explore a zone that made me uncomfortable, and I focused on that," said Nawazuddin. © Kangana Ranaut He further said, “If the story needs to be told, I will be part of it, even if it makes me uncomfortable. We need to step out of our comfort zones." A fact that both Kangana and Nawazuddin have been seen sticking to when it comes to choosing roles in films. The film that is already on the floors with its shooting is set to hit the screens in the coming year 2022. View the full article
