  1. Ever since the 62nd Grammy Awards, people have been primarily talking about two things - Priyanka Chopra's outfit, and Nick Jonas and the spinach stuck in his teeth, which has now become a 'green legend' thanks to the meme Gods. Singer Nick Jonas and his brothers gave what his fans feel was an outstanding performance last night. However, his fantastic and 'cavity-vating', sorry captivating performance was outshined by a teeny-tiny piece of spinach that was stuck in his teeth, which was noticed by literally everyone watching him perform. Is Nick Jonas on the #GRAMMYs stage with spinach or something in his teeth?!? pic.twitter.com/BKWREj4U3l â Nicole Perez (@nicole_perez1) January 27, 2020 As expected, social media soon exploded with memes and reactions on Mr. 'Popeye' Jonas and the spinach that stole more limelight than both J brothers and J Sisters combined. He sang 'What A Man Gotta Do' and all we can say after this performance is that 'What A Man Gotta Do' is to brush teeth properly. 2. It wouldn't be wrong to say Indian wedding processions are often the highlight of the entire wedding ceremony. Baraats with dancers, music and wedding bands have been the highlight for ages. While theyâve been mostly led by grooms, two sisters from MPâs Khandwa district dressed up for their wedding ceremonies on January 22 with a different plan - leading their baraat to the groomsâ homes instead. Madhya Pradesh: Sakshi and Srishti, two sisters who had their wedding ceremonies on 22nd January, took out their own wedding procession (baraat) and rode horses to reach houses of their grooms in Khandwa, as a tradition followed by Patidar community. pic.twitter.com/80o27FtZuY â ANI (@ANI) January 24, 2020 The brides, named Sakshi and Srishti, belong to the Patidar community, where this subversion of gender roles is a time-honoured tradition. "I feel proud to be part of this community and that they have been following this tradition," Srishti told ANI. Meanwhile, Sakshi and Shrishtiâs father, Arun, explained his reasoning behind supporting the baraat. "This is a 400-500 years old tradition. We are carrying it forward to support the government's message of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao'. The daughters of this country should be treated equally. This is the message that we want to convey with our tradition and will continue practising it," said Arun. 3. There are directors who make thrillers or horror movies, there are directors who make psychological movies, then there is Bong Joon Ho who blows our minds away my mixing the two and creating twisted masterpieces that people start having identity crisis after watching it. South Korean directors especially Bong Joon Ho leave no stone unturned in bending our minds with their trippy plot twists and movies like Oldboy, Train To Busan and The Host is proof the same. Bong Joon Ho is the same guy who worked with Chris Evans in 2013 for the science-fiction thriller 'Snowpiercer'. BTW, he also made The Host and Memories of Murder which are till date counted in some of the best movies ever made. © CJ Entertainment Now the man is all set to create history as his film Parasite recently got nominated for the Oscars 2020. And not just one or two, but this movie has earned six nominations including Best Picture and Best International Film. The other nominations are Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Production Design and best Film Editing. With this news Parasite also, reportedly, became the first South Korean movie in 91 years to get nominated for an Academy Award, and Bong Joon Ho became the first South Korean director to get nominated for this award. © CJ Entertainment But, first let's talk about the movie and why it's making so much buzz on global platform and I promise, my bias and love for Korean movies and K-Pop will not come in the middle of it. Parasite is a psychological thriller about a family who find themselves entangled in a vicious web of greed and class discrimination, which leads them on a murder spree in order to hide the lies they made up in the first place. Trust me, this is not your regular murder mystery and that's exactly what I love about Korean movies - they make you work your brain to figure out what's going to happen until the very end of the movie. However, this isn't the only time it made it big. Earlier, the film became the first Korean film to win the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival 2019. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a critic score of 99% and 8.6 on IMDb. At the 77th Golden Globe Awards, the film won the award for Best Foreign Language Film. Even if you don't believe my words, I am sure you will be intrigued by these reviews. We don't know whether the movie will win an award in any of the nomations, but we do know that it's one of the finest movies ever made and if you are willing to cross the barrier called subtitles, then this one has to be on your binge-watch list. 4. I am literally Keanu Reeves' good deed writer for this portal and I have written several instances where he's just been an ace human being. And to carry forth the tradition, here's one more altruistic and remarkable Keanu stories to look forward to. © Twitter Known as the most generous, kind-hearted man alive (he once bought ice cream just so he could autograph the receipt for a fan), Keanu stuck to his numerous titles, by proving his kindness once again. The man left a 'big tip', after ordering for a double-scoop Baskin-Robbins ice cream. So, Keanu was in Alameda California, when he entered a Baskin-Robbins and made someone's day rather special, by leaving a 'big tip' after placing his order for the ice cream. While we're not sure what the big tip really entails, we're certain it has to be as big as Keanu's heart. Keanu is anyway known to make others around him happy, by doing extraordinary things in the most ordinary ways. © Twitter Right after he bought his ice cream, as humbly as he could, he decided to go to a nearby park and enjoy eating it. Right then he was asked by a fan for a picture and he obviously obliged. The dressed down box-office dynamo happily took a picture with the woman, who later shared it on her social media profile. #NewProfilePic pic.twitter.com/kBheB1neOC — yahoska (@yahoska___) January 8, 2020 Well, with a black attire and messy hair, but the actor still manages to look quite amazing, as always! For people who're confused as to why is Keanu enjoying scoop in California, he's there to shoot for his forthcoming film, Matrix 4, which is scheduled to release somewhere in 2021. While Keanu will be playing his iconic role of Neo, Carrie-Ann Moss is returning in the film too. With that, Matrix 4 will also feature Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is known for his role as Black Manta in Aquaman. © Warner Bros. For now we're waiting for the day Keanu is spotted in a local ice-cream parlour here in India, and we get to meet the most humble human, in person! View the full article

While most of us are either single, working on New Year's Eve or cancelling plans after falling sick thanks to the spine-chilling cold in Delhi, it's important to remember that not everyone's life sucks. There are some people in the world who are ringing in the new year and new decade in the most kickass way possible, with their respective partners or friends on an exotic vacation. Tiger comments on her picture with this: In the next post, she expresses her love for Eban and writes, "Always making me laugh. Grateful to have met my best friend, twin soul, and love this year." To this, Tiger writes "Eban...poor guy." Honestly, I think siblings consider it their birthright to tease each other and make each other feel bad about themselves and Tiger's comments on Krishna's posts confirm my theory. But, there's one guy who has already unlocked the ultimate level of fitness and is now making men burn in jealousy and women go weak in their knees. That guy is actor-comedian Kumail Nanjiani who has set social media on fire with his insane and unbelievable transformation. Until a year ago, Nanjiani was a guy with a great sense of humour and wit. Now, he's a guy with talent, humour and a ripped body with abs that will hurt when he laughs at his own jokes. Well, the guy even got an honorary mention in the 'Muscular Men' category on PornHub. Tied with his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo at five wins apiece, Lionel Messi etched his name in the history books after claiming a record sixth Ballon d'Or trophy in a star-studded awards ceremony in Paris. In the process, Messi became the first player to reach the landmark, coming out on top of the 30-man nomination list which included the likes of Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk. © Reuters Messi and Ronaldo have dominated one of the football's most prestigious trophies over the last decade. Both had earlier won five Ballon d'Ors to prove they are in a class of their own. But, their dominance was eventually brought to an end by Luka Modric who won the coveted award last year. But, for someone who won the trophy last year, Modric failed to find a nomination this year. While Messi lifted his record sixth award, Modric became the first Ballon d'Or winner not to be nominated in the next year's edition. 12. The old Nokia phones, as we all know, are a tough nut to crack. You may have heard a lot of stories about a Nokia feature phone saving people's lives by stopping a bullet. It's a testament to how durable those really are, which is something we simply can't expect from a modern-day smartphone. However, a recent incident proved that not all modern-day phones are fragile. Last week, a Google Pixel 3 XL smartphone saved a man's life by stopping a bullet from hitting him. Impressive, isn't it? Our photographer was shot by a rubber bullet on Monday in the battlefield of #polyu #hongkong The #pixel3 phone stopped the bullet and was destroyed. He didn't get hurt. Surprised it can still be turned on. @madebygoogle @googlepixels @Claudibus pic.twitter.com/Gtz0jFvHXg — Studio Incendo (@studioincendo) November 19, 2019 The incident happened in Hong Kong and the victim was one of the photographers covering a protest near the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The photo studio then sent out a tweet saying that one of their photographers was shot and got saved by the phone. It's, however, worth pointing out that the bullet in question here isn't a regular bullet from a lethal firearm. It was a rubber bullet, which is essentially a less-lethal alternative to a normal metal bullet. But the phone still saved the man's life because even rubber bullets can sometimes kill people or permanently disable them. Yes, the shot wasn't as lethal as it could've been, but the phone was able to stop the projectile and prevented any kind of mishap from happening. © Twitter/ @studioincendo As you can see from the images, the bullet hit the bottom right corner of the phone. The impact was obviously strong enough to completely shatter the glass on both sides. But we're surprised to see that the phone is still turning on. The display is clearly damaged and the back glass is shattered to a point that it's not safe to use, but the phone still turned on, which goes on to show how durable it is. We live in a world where smartphones and other mobile devices are getting more and more fragile. So, it's definitely a relief to see at least a few of them still holding strong. View the full article
  13. Bollywood and manhood have lived a complicated life together. We live in a country where over 250 crore people scramble to watch films every year - over twice the number of moviegoers in China or the United States. This means that our society, more than perhaps any other in the world, culturally depends on what we see onscreen, and who we see doing it. Despite facing criticism for its less-than-stellar treatment of women through the years, Bollywood has placed immense emphasis on the leading men, often captured in heroic postures on bright, nostalgia-inducing film posters. Everyone from thugs to tycoons, soldiers to scholars have been framed on film for everyone to see - and over time, helped define, mature and even reinvent the idea of masculinity. This International Men's Day, we'd like to take a look at these cultural icons and how they defined the cinema of their times. The 1940s - Ashok Kumar Perhaps Kumar's greatest contribution to playing men onscreen was his breakthrough hit - 1943's Kismet. Playing a remorseless pickpocket with a compassionate side, he introduced us to the anti-hero - a complex, pivotal aspect that provided men with a truly relatable onscreen presence. The film's subject matter was also quite radical for the time. Kumar's choices in film would also reflect the shifting tides for newly independent India. Mahal (1949) saw Kumar take the lead for India's first film featuring a 'reincarnation story', in a mix of horror and romance that influences popular cinema even today. Kumar was also unafraid to play negative roles even during his time as one of the most successful heroes in Bollywood - the intelligent, bold and noir-inspired Sangram (1950) sees Kumar play a spoilt brat turn into a ruthless criminal. The 1950s - Guru Dutt Through the 50s, Guru Dutt released films that took away much of the grandeur and 'macho' ideas associated with heroes. His characters were flawed, often destitute and fighting against themselves as in Mr. & Mrs. 55 (1955) & Pyaasa (1957) - or falling from grace as in Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959). Much of this reflected the filmmaker's own pain and frustration with life - a theme that continues through all his films and is perhaps why, even half a century later, they still stir deep emotions and relatability. The 1960s - Dharmendra The 60s were a time where western pop culture finally began to reach Indian masses. Gradually, studios began to look at concepts such as female-led romance films and even the James Bond craze. Dharmendra would take on both of these challenges back in the 60s. Known as Garam Dharam at the time, he began his career alongside Meena Kumari, taking on early feminist cinema such as Anpadh (1962), playing a gentle, slow-burner romantic in films such as Dulhan Ek Raat Ki (1967) and even Aakhen (1968) - one of India's earliest spy themed romantic-thrillers. This soft spoken yet suave roster of roles was just the thing that a new, younger and better-read Indian man wanted to see. The 1970s - Amitabh Bachchan One of the most interesting things about this legendary figure of Indian cinema is that he very accurately represented a symbol for young men during the seventies. Underemployed, barred by discrimination - these were challenges the young actor faced in his early days, being told by filmmakers that he was too dark, too tall and too intense to play the likeable, fair-skinned funnyman that past heroes tended towards. Soon enough, films themselves became darker, more imposing and intense themselves - giving the frustration of the youth a cinematic avatar through 'The Angry Young Man'. Eventually, even Dharmendra and Bachhan came together in Sholay (1975) - a film that came to define the decade itself. The 1980s - Naseeruddin Shah Subtle, sensitive and full of charm - Naseeruddin Shah's career in the eighties was a series of timeless movies that aged very well - his interesting, challenging roles rode the crest of new-age cinema during his time at the top. Known for taking on films with deep socio-political themes, he's tackled everything from a social comedy in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron (1983) and a complicated romance as a blind man in Sparsh (1980), showing his versatility at two different ends of the spectrum. It's also interesting to note that he's played a man in uniform several times - everything from lawyers to policemen and army chiefs, usually with sharp wit and complete authority. The 1990s - Shah Rukh Khan Seriously, could it be anyone else? SRK's journey as an actor through the 90s reflected much of the two-sided life men have had to lead - first struggling as a ruthless anti-hero in Baazigar (1993) and playing other darker roles. Soon though, the lighter side of life came through when he absolutely nailed his role as Raj in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995). His lighthearted, charismatic and yet romantically intense roles have cemented his reputation as Bollywood's undisputed 'King of Romance' - with a signature pose that's been copied by Indian men for the last twenty years. The 2000s - Hrithik Roshan Along with all the comparisons to 'Greek gods' and the likes, there's no denying it - Hrithik has been a titanic presence in some of the decade's biggest films. While often typecast as the 'perfect hero', due to his looks and general screen presence, his roles matured immensely through the decade, reflecting the interests of his male audience and his own journey. Beginning with Kaho Na Pyaar Hai in 2000, he played an interesting spin on the classic coming-of-age, boy-to-man story in Lakshya 4 years later - finally ending the decade in the incredibly touching Guzarish. This push for more, despite stunt injuries, personal traumas and even spinal conditions that threatened his career, inspired millions of fans to adopt his brand of masculinity. The 2010s - Ayushmann Khurrana Khurrana's star is still rising - it's been around seven years since his debut in Vicky Donor, and the resulting legacy of films tackling social problems, unique scripts such as Andhadhun's and a commonly recurring theme in his films - male insecurities - have helped immensely in raising awareness and broadening conversations amongst both men and women today. This year, his upcoming film Bala aims to tackle the stigma surrounding male pattern baldness- a major source of anxiety for several men, both young and old. View the full article
  14. No, it's not Rahul Dravid's birthday, nor did he make or break any records on this day (at least not that we are aware of), but we are still here to talk about the batsman. That's the kind of respect and honour he has earned through his 15-year-long career as a key member of the Indian cricket team. They say the cricketing world might get another Rahul Dravid, the batsman, but there will never be Rahul Dravid, the human being. Humble, articulate, disciplined and yet quaint in many manners, and his interview with BCC's Karan Thapar from 1999 is the best example to support that notion. At the time of the interview, the ICC World Cup 1999 had just got over. Despite a loaded roster with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Mohammed Azharuddin, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath and Venkatesh Prasad in the squad, the Men in Blue could only make it to the Super Six stage. Even though Dravid had established himself as an avid Test batsman, he was criticised for not being good enough to play limited-over cricket. With his exceptional series of one successful batting innings after another during the 1999 tournament, he not only proved his critics wrong but also went on to become the highest run-scorer of the quadrennial contest despite names like Tendulkar and Brian Lara's presence in the championship. ð 26 May 1999 ð Taunton ð Sri Lanka The day Rahul Dravid hit a mammoth 145 off 129 balls at the Cricket World Cup! ð pic.twitter.com/nEenRYFyfh — Cricket World Cup (@cricketworldcup) January 11, 2019 “I always had a bit of confidence in my ability. I knew that when I get to England, the kind of conditions will suit me and I always backed myself to do well,” said a self-confident Dravid in the interview. “But to end up as the highest scorer in the World Cup, I think I did surprise myself there” spoke his meek side. This right here perfectly illustrates the juxtaposition of Dravid's personality. Successful yet grounded. Something that today's Hardik Pandyas and KL Rahuls might never understand, nor do we expect them to. Dravid goes on to talk about what the game of cricket means to him. “There was this t-shirt I saw once… and it said 'cricket is life… the rest is mere detail' and that's what it's about,” he said. Cricket is life, the rest is mere a detail. ~Rahul Dravid. — Vivek Upadhyay (@Veevaiik) November 15, 2019 He also goes on to explain how he belonged to a middle-class family and how his parents asked him to focus more on school and studies and how cricket was always second for them, but once they saw how talented their boy was, there was no looking back. A self-made man who has never boasted about his achievements yet being recognised for his hard work, Dravid has been successfully able to pass on his level of commitment to the younger generation of cricketers as the coach of the U-19 team and the India 'A' side in the past and continues to do as the Head of the National Cricket Academy now. You never know who's snooping, who might get offended or worse, when you might get cornered by religious fanatics out of nowhere. While terms such as 'intolerance' and 'sickular-ism' are thrown around, and the disconnect between Left and Right continues to grow wider, every good instance of unity and brotherhood needs to be shared every chance we get. © Twitter/ANI Just like the news that Uttar Pradesh Shia Waqf Board Chairman Wasim Rizvi donated Rs 51,000 for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. 16. One of the most successful Indian captains, Sourav Ganguly carved his own niche in the gentleman's game on the back of brutally honest approach. Unlike MS Dhoni, whose tenure as Indian captain rarely saw him expressing himself on the field, Ganguly was not the one to mince words or hide his emotions after an emphatic win. Even when he called time on career, Ganguly didn't change his approach. Often seen in the commentary box, the former Indian captain's honest take and game analysis continued to make him one of the most respected voices in cricket. From being a cricketer, then becoming a commentator and now taking the role of an administrator, Ganguly is now looked upon as an agent of change following his appointment as the new President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). © Twitter/@SGanguly99 Taking up the high-profile position with the BCCI, the 47-year-old has already began fixing the gaping holes in the Indian set-up. He recently held discussions with National Cricket Academy's Chief Rahul Dravid to give new shape to its infrastructure and nurture budding talents in Bangalore. Then, he convinced Virat Kohli & Co. for a day-night Test against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens in a bid to promote the longest format. While his antics in the past few days since his appointment as new BCCI chief has already garnered praise, Ganguly's humility and consideration for Indian cricket fans was recently in full display and struck a chord with everyone on social media. After meeting his former teammate and good friend Dravid at the NCA, Ganguly was spotted at the Bangalore airport where a barrage of fans howled him for photos and autographs. 18. If you own a Nintendo Switch in India and wanted to play a proper RPG on the go, you will be happy to know that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available in India. You can buy the game as a physical copy or digitally. We've been playing the game for a few days and found it to be an impressive port for the Nintendo Switch. I've played The Witcher 3 on PS4, PC and now on the Nintendo Switch and the game is still as exciting and fresh as its previous ports. Sure, there are a few compromises the game makes in order for it to work; but these are compromises I can live with. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The Witcher 3 may not run on 4K resolution with the maximum settings and FPS, however, the Switch port still makes the impossible a reality. The game runs at 540p in handheld mode in which it is meant to be played. You could always enjoy the upscaled resolution when docked, but it's way more fun when you are on the go. The game has been co-developed by CD ProjektRed and Saber Interactive to make the game fit in a 32GB cartridge. That alone is an achievement by itself as the game does not sacrifice any of the content. It comes with all the expansions and DLCs. The developers instead have used lower resolution textures and assets so that the game can run smoothly on a console that is powered by a tablet-level GPU. The use of compressed assets results in a graphics downgrade which I didn't really mind. This is probably because the game runs smoothly at 30fps and does not falter in crucial moments. When engaging multiple enemies, the experience still stays smooth at 30fps as there are no frame rate drops, keeping the overall experience intact. Personally, I would rather have a game that runs without any hiccups over a prettier looking game. So if you've always wanted to enjoy The Witcher 3 while on the go, you will have to make a compromise when it comes to the graphics but in return, you will be able to enjoy hundreds of hours of gameplay without any nagging issues. For an optimal experience, we would recommend you turn off the motion blur and blur options in the settings. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla The most obvious concern on a portable version of The Witcher 3 on the Nintendo Switch would be the loading times. To our surprise, the Switch version of The Witcher 3 had similar load times as the first-generation version of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. That is quite impressive as well, since you will not be waiting a whole lot for the game to load when you fast travel and in this game, you will fast travel a lot. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla As mentioned before, this game truly shines in the handheld mode and is perfect for people who are always travelling or do not get enough time to play on home consoles. You can start playing anywhere and anytime you want whether it is in the office or during your daily commute. This makes the game more accessible to people who always wanted to play the game but did not have the means or the time to invest in a proper gaming setup. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now available on the Nintendo Switch via amazon.in or offline stores. The game is officially available in India as a cartridge and we recommend you get the physical copy as it is the easiest way to buy the game in India.
  19. Break ups are bad and seemingly the one advice you always get post your break up, is keeping your distance from your ex-girlfriend. Have you heard your friends always tell you "whatever you do bro, just don't hook up with your ex, move on man"? Well, that advice is valid and legit only because you want to forget the past and move forward and maybe give someone else a chance. But there is a lingering feeling deep inside you, which probably still connects to your ex, and it's kinda inevitable and there is nothing you can do to contain that feeling really. © MensXP There may come a time where you will bump into your ex at a party or a bar, and if you haven't seen each other for long, you'll either ignore each other's respective presence or rekindle long lost conversations. Most likely, it's the latter and sometimes, those conversations could bring about latent feelings and the sexual pleasure you both derived from each other. Yes, sleeping with an ex is as common as the common cold and many of us indulge in it, and feel either ashamed or angry the next day or know for a fact that feelings for them still remain. But what if I told you, sleeping with an ex is not that bad, after all? Yes, you read that right. According to some recent research from Wayne State University, having *** with your ex might not be such a bad idea, in fact, the research argues that it may even be a 'good' idea. © MensXP The study was conducted in two parts and it analysed the daily experiences and activities of 113 individuals who'd recently broken up or were going through a break-up. Two months after the break-up, they were given a questionnaire to fill. The questionnaire asked if they'd tried to have physical contact with their ex and if they were emotionally attached to them and how they felt, every day, after they'd had some form of physical contact with their ex. The second part was somewhat similar, where 372 participants were asked to take a survey, which asked them similar questions about physical contact with their ex's and their level of attachments with them. The result was quite fascinating actually. Rather than expecting that sleeping with an ex is emotionally turbulent and can leave feelings to linger on, hindering your ability to move on, while prolonging the heartbreak, the researchers found that sleeping with an ex really didn't stop the day-today healing process. The participants who pined after their exes were more likely to have *** with them and even after that they didn't feel heartbroken or emotionally stunted, or even upset. In fact, hooking up with their ex, left them feeling more positive, every day. © MensXP "This research suggests that societal handwringing regarding trying to have *** with an ex may not be warranted. The fact that *** with an ex is found to be most eagerly pursued by those having difficulty moving on, suggests that we should perhaps instead more critically evaluate people's motivations behind pursuing *** with an ex." - the lead researcher, Stephanie Spielmann said in an interview with an international publication. But that being established, it's always necessary to know where you stand with your feelings and your emotions. There may have been research conducted to establish that *** is good with the ex but more often than not, it's subjective. If you feel mangled up and distraught after any form of physical contact with them or if you feel that physical intimacy with an ex acts as a deterrent for you to move on successfully, then you have to weigh your decision well. But if you think like the rest of the subjects from the research, your feelings are intact and you feel good about it, then, of course, go for it. But remember, don't have any expectations. if you're sleeping with an ex, in order to win them back, it may lead to more complications later and leave you more heartbroken than before!
  20. For someone who began his career as a middle-order batsman, Rohit Sharma has come into his own ever since MS Dhoni and the Indian team management identified him as a threatening opening batsman. Over the years, batting at the top, Rohit has not only turned his career around, but also provided India the luxury of an indispensable opener. A vital cog in the Indian batting line-up, Rohit came into the ICC World Cup with a lot of expectations on his shoulders. With his team tipped as one of the top contenders this year, the right-hander was quite understandably bestowed with the responsibility of getting them to a good start. And, on 5th June, Rohit, once again, proved why he is rated so highly by the Indian team management and all the cricket experts across the globe. Beginning their campaign against a team of South Africa's calibre was never going to be easy, but a spectacular show by the Indian bowling unit did tilt the game in favour of the 'Men in Blue'. Impressive figures by Yuzvendra Chahal (4-51) and Jasprit Bumrah (2-35) ensured that the Proteas were restricted to a mediocre total of 227 runs at the loss of nine wickets. Reuters Though the target appeared mediocre, but if anyone saw the conditions and pitch behave in the first-half of the match, they'd agree that it was going to take some doing for India to register their first points in the tournament. And, that's exactly what happened. Against the searing pace and impeccable lengths of sprinting Kagiso Rabada, the Indian openers looked far from being comfortable with both Shikhar Dhawan (8) and Rohit struggling early on. After the game of cat and mouse, pressure got to Dhawan as he edged one off Rabada through to Quinton de Kock behind the stumps. With the Proteas quicks smelling blood, the Indian side needed their batsmen at the crease to oversee the troublesome times and apply themselves in a bid to stitch a partnership - something Rohit and Virat Kohli (18) tried to do following Dhawan's dismissal. The duo added 41 runs for the second wicket and were eager to stabilise India's run-chase when Andile Phehlukwayo struck to send Kohli packing - courtesy a spectacular catch by De Kock. Reuters With his captain back in the hut, Rohit put his best foot forward and decided to carry the baton for his side. The Mumbai batsman gave himself enough time at the crease to settle in and, unlike his teammates, he didn't force his shots against the odd ball. On the other hand, Rohit was also impressive in rotating the strike which allowed him, and in turn India, to stitch strong partnerships. After partnering Kohli, Rohit was involved in an 85-run partnership for the third wicket with KL Rahul (26) who looked good for the better part of his innings in the much-debated No. 4 slot. But, Rahul's dismissal in the 32nd over at the hands of Rabada once again got India in a spot of bother. Top century from Rohit Sharma. Composed, relaxed. Rode the early tension well and has been a picture of certainty since — Harsha Bhogle (@bhogleharsha) June 5, 2019 Unnerved by the pressure, Rohit continued to steer the chase for India after finding some support from MS Dhoni (34). The two experienced batsmen added 74 runs for the fourth wicket and almost nullified the threat Rabada & co. posed in the middle. As the game neared its end, India lost Dhoni, but Rohit's presence in the middle ensured the team remained on track. Reuters While the winning runs came from the blade of swashbuckling Hardik Pandya (15*), it was arguably Rohit's superlative knock of 122 runs including 10 fours and two sixes that made the difference. Calm ,composed and a wonderful century from @ImRo45 ! Fantastic understanding of the situation ! — Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) June 5, 2019 On a track where batsmen from both sides struggled to get going, Rohit showed great composure and temperament in his match-winning innings. Curbing his natural, aggressive game, Rohit adapted to the conditions and sacrificed certain shots from his armoury to ensure his survival at the crease. Owing to experience and know-how of the game, the Indian opener got his team over the line and notched up his second World Cup hundred and get India off to a winning start in the tournament. He is now placed third in the elite list with just Sachin Tendulkar (49) and Kohli (41) ahead of him. Following their emphatic six-wicket triumph, the Kohli brigade will hope that Rohit continues his fine run when they take the field against Australia in the much-anticipated clash at The Oval on 9th June.
  21. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is on a roll and is all set to conquer the digital space completely. Nawaz gives life to all his characters on the big screen. He is one stellar actor and his performances are so realistic that you would be completely engrossed in his character. After 'Sacred Games', Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be a part of another Netflix project which is the film adaptation of Manu Joseph's 2010 novel 'Serious Men'. It will be directed by Sudhir Mishra and produced by Bombay Fables and Cineraas Entertainment. Sudhir Mishra has a vision that many haven't achieved yet and it will be interesting to see Nawaz being directed by him. View this post on Instagram The most coveted script “No Land's Man” is finally going to be made into a film. Thank you Mostofa Sarwar Farooki for the opportunity. Looking forward. A post shared by Nawazuddin Siddiqui (@nawazuddin._siddiqui) on Apr 4, 2019 at 7:10am PDT In a statement, Nawazuddin shared his excitement on working with Netflix again. He said, “I am very excited to be a part of Netflix's Serious Men and work with a creative mind like Sudhir Mishra. This is my second stint with Netflix after Sacred Games and I hope that people give Ayyan Mani (from Serious Men) the same love that they extended to Ganesh Gaitonde (from Sacred Games). For now, I am eagerly awaiting the release of Sacred Games 2 and can't wait to see the audience's reaction.” The film is about a wily slum dweller, who cons the country into believing his dim-witted 10-year-old son is a genius, to realize that the only victim of his dangerous game is his son. 22. 'Necessity is the mother of invention'. This honestly seems like some ancient desi proverb at this point because it exactly applies to 'jugaad' and no one in the world does that better than Indians. If there's a problem, there's always a solution, even if it doesn't look like one. I've always said that if it's stupid and it works, it's not stupid, and looks like even Anand Mahindra agrees. He's always pretty active on Twitter admiring or sharing new stuff and this time he decided to share what looks like a Whatsapp forward video just because it was that innovative. What do you do when you don't have an excavator but just a 'charpai' or a 'khatiya'? Well, here it is- I think the phrase 'Necessity is the mother of invention' was invented by Indians! Here's a new product our Farm & Construction sectors will have to consider as a replacement for an excavator: A 'Khatiya-vator'. #whatsappwonderbox pic.twitter.com/av3qNdIAHd — anand mahindra (@anandmahindra) May 21, 2019 Well, that's pretty cool. The most surprising part for me is someone like Anand Mahindra scouting through all the Whatsapp messages and videos he recieves to find stuff like that. Am i going to hell for laughing at this? pic.twitter.com/R5HSnSc14l — Harsha ð®ð³ (@SriNow) May 21, 2019 Someone replied with more innovations. Our farmers have invented one more than one ...... Only we Indians can find another use for a 'Khatiya' in the daytime like thisðð — Charuhas (@charuhasmujumd1) May 21, 2019 Why does it sound like something Doofenshmirtz would make? 'Khatiya-vator' sounds cool ð — Harleen Kaur (@HarleenParmar) May 21, 2019 Someone literally gave the definition of jugaad. An instant solution to the problem raised by the demand of situations. Moreover the solution provided by an instant action may not be the permanent solution but good enough to meet the present. 23. This article contains heavy spoilers. Proceed with caution. If you see Bran's character arc, it's risen tremendously from how he was portrayed in Season 1, till the most recent Season, where he's named king of the six realms. But if you think about it, his journey wasn't just another teenager who finds true meaning in life and becomes the Three-Eyed-Raven. He was very carefully orchestrating and plotting his own storyline, which in all probability, was highly overshadowed from the rest of us. © HBO When the gang of survivors were holding a discussion as to who the next king should be, everyone unanimously decided upon Bran. Tyrion, of course, gave his two cents on why Bran should be the ruler of the 7 kingdoms and with a common consensus, Bran was named king of the 6 kingdoms, giving Sansa complete autonomy to rule the North on her own. Right after he was appointed king, Tyrion asked Bran if he wanted it and Bran said: ''why do you think I've come all this way"? That statement might have been something we missed delving deeper into but come to think of it, it's a pretty loaded statement, which could tell us that Bran had been planning taking over the realm since the beginning! Or since he became the Three-Eyed-Raven, who actually wanted to lead and rule all, according to some theories. © HBO But, let's fish out some actual facts on why Bran could be the ultimate villain who was silently rooting for the throne, for himself. First off, Bran knows everything that has happened and will happen in the future. We're not sure how far he can see into the future but it's a sufficient amount to predict things that may happen and avoid the things that shouldn't. The very fact that he let most things happen, even though he could have stopped them is highly suspicious. For example, if he knew Euron was going to attack Daenerys' fleet, he could have asked her to change her strategy, but he didn't. He kept quiet until Dany lost one of her dragon's in Euron's attack. For someone who 'sees' everything, this seemed quite intentional. © HBO Next, let's look at the Night King's death. I agree that episode 3 of 'Game of Thrones' Season 8 was absolutely haywire, where nothing made sense. Not just the fact that almost everyone survived the army of the dead and that the Night King died, frivolously, after 7 Seasons of absolute build-up, also that his death seemed very inferior compared to how he was shown or talked about in the show. But, keeping that bit aside, Bran warged into the ravens during the war and we never really figured out what he was trying to do. They never showed the part where his warging helped out the war in any way possible. Popular fan theories suggest that Bran cooked up a deal with the Night King, which lured him towards Bran, and since Bran had given Arya the Valyrian Steel dagger earlier, he knew the NK's actual fate. There was no form of expression or relief on Bran's face when Arya killed the Night King. © HBO Also, if you think about it, Bran giving the Valyrian Steel dagger to Arya, which foreshadowed the Night King's death and telling Samwell, Arya and Sansa about Jon's true lineage and not letting out anything else, is a great tactic. This way, he made sure his claim to the throne was intact, getting rid of his enemies one by one. Arya killed the Night King with the dagger Bran gave her and everyone knew Jon was a Targaryen after Bran revealed it, which led to Dany losing her mind towards the end, and eventually dying for it. And that's how Bran got rid of two tough contenders, one by one. And while the two wars were taking place, Bran took a back seat and watched things unfold. Things he'd set in motion himself. Very clever Bran! How did the #NightKing change Craster's babies? By touching them. How did he change Viserion? By touching it. What did Bloodraven say to #BranStark in the cave? "He touched you."#foodforthought#nightking #GameofThrones — Vladimir Furdik (@Vladimir_furdik) 28 April 2019 Which is actually true. Even though Bran met the NK earlier through a vision, the NK had touched him and left his mark. Did Bran change post that and wished to take control over everything else and discovered his evil-dark side? The fifth episode of Season 8 also has an interesting fan theory. Dany had decided to withdraw if and when King's Landing rang the bells in surrender. But even after the bells were rung, she went Dracarys on the entire kingdom! Earlier, if you see Dany, while the bells are ringing, she is looking towards the Red Keep where Cersei is standing, making it seem like she's going to charge towards Cersei and kill her and destroy just the Red Keep. But she ends up destroying the entire city. Now, the theory states that Bran probably warged into Drogon, Dany's dragon, and burnt the city down to ashes. © HBO Not once did they show Dany's face when Drogon was spitting fire. Maybe he wasn't in her control and was doing whatever he wanted because his consciousness had been taken over by Bran. There's also a shot of Drogon's shadow over King's Landing when he's spewing fire and it's identical to the vision Bran had a few seasons ago, which could also amount to something. And if Drogon was spitting fire recklessly while Dany was confused about his actions, it could just mean that Dany, in all probability, wasn't the Mad Queen after all and that Bran is just pure evil! © HBO While all these are just theories, they do give us something to think about. How can someone, who sees the future and knows the past never strategise during a big war? How was he always quiet? Why was no one consulting him on what to do next? Why didn't anyone else consider Jon Snow, the true heir, for the throne? After an entire build up over his revelation of being a Targaryen and Bran's constant vision of Jon's birth at the Tower of Joy in Dorne, the throne eventually went to Bran. Isn't it quite strange? © HBO Well, I like to believe Bran played a great game and made everyone believe he is the rightful king, even though he is not and he knew it all along, especially when he uttered, "why do you think I've come all this way". Now, we aren't sure if he means he's come all this way from the North to be named king, or that he's always been plotting and planning for the throne, by being the Three-Eyed-Raven and has come all this way to take the throne. We'll never truly know! But let's see what George RR Martin has in store for us, through his upcoming books!
  24. Following a record 100-point title-winning season, Manchester City chased an elusive dream of becoming the first team to successfully retain the Premier League title in the last decade. The 2018/19 season began with promise and City did what they do best - crush one opponent after another as they launched their title defence. But, as the Premier League progressed further, the Cityzens found a threat to their title defence in rampaging Liverpool. The Jurgen Klopp brigade upped the ante, matching City's every single move in the tournament. The closely-fought battle was expected to bring out the best in the two teams, but the amounting pressure also meant that someone was going to slip up. And, that's exactly what happened to City. First, a goalless draw to Liverpool with Riyad Mahrez's missing the penalty, and then, a 2-1 loss to Leicester City had Guardiola's men feeling the heat at the end of 2018. A 2-1 win over the Reds in January saw City ending Liverpool's 20-game unbeaten run, but the same month saw their eight-match winning run (in all competition) coming to an unexpected end after they go 1-2 down to Newcastle United. © Reuters City's loss to Newcastle saw Liverpool going four points clear at the top with a game in hand. And, the Anfield loyalists believed that their wait for a Premier League title for 29 years was finally going to come to an end this season. But, while the Liverpool fans were hopeful, Klopp and his men knew that it wasn't going to be easy to upstage a team of City calibre. With their back against the wall, City, staying true to its character and skillset, brought their 'A Game' to the fore. The Guardiola brigade bounced back with a 3-1 win over Arsenal and then thumped six goals past Chelsea to make their intentions clear. But, as they continued to cut down the deficit at the top in Premier League, City were humbled by a spirited Tottenham Hotspur in the UEFA Champions League. A 4-4 (on aggregate) result saw Spurs marching ahead in the European competition on the basis of the away-goal rule. Crashing out of a competition that has eluded them over the years, City and their fans were undoubtedly distraught as yet another Champions League campaign came to a sad end. And, the fact that they were eliminated and Liverpool were still alive and kicking in the event, further dampened the mood at the Etihad. © Reuters Beginning the season with the promise of a potential quadruple, City's elimination from the Champions League was yet another blow to Guardiola's, otherwise, rich legacy. With the dreams of conquering Europe vanquished, City, now, had Premier League to salvage some silverware and nurse their ego. And, after Liverpool's sensational comeback against Barcelona to secure a berth in this season's Champions League final, many believed that the momentum was, in fact, with the Reds to, not only win the European competition, but, maybe, pip City to the Premier League title. But, if you've followed the Cityzens this season, you'd know that this team, with Guardiola at the helm of affairs, mastered the art of delivering under pressure and surely not the one to bottle their chances. With three games to go in the season, City faced their first test against cross-town neighbours Manchester United who were forced to endure a 2-0 defeat. Then, came Leicester who almost pulled off the job, but a long-range screamer from club legend Vincent Kompany saved City the blushes in a narrow 1-0 win. © Reuters After a game of cat and mouse, it all boiled down to the Super Sunday - the day of judgement for both City and Liverpool. While City were just a win away from retaining the title, the Reds needed to win their encounter against the Wolves and wanted their rivals, at the top, to lose theirs. As the two teams began their clashes simultaneously, a 17th-minute goal from Sadio Mane put Liverpool in front, but it was Glenn Murray's header in the 27th minute for Brighton against City that had the Reds jumping out of their seats. It seemed that the pressure was going to get to City and the defending champions might throw it away. But then, a side that amassed a record 100 points last season has got to be better than that. Bouncing back like true champions, City equalised in the very next minute through Sergio Aguero's brilliant finish. Then, a 38th minute header from Aymeric Laporte put City in front, minimising the title hopes of Liverpool. Despite leading 2-1, City and their fans knew it wasn't the kind of lead they'll be comfortable taking into the last minutes of the game. And, an exquisite strike from Riyad Mahrez in the 63rd minute finally gave City some cushion to feel more comfortable. What a decision from Pep to start Mahrez today! BEAUTIFUL GOAL â½ï¸ #MCFC pic.twitter.com/8t5gZ36dlx — ManCityzens.com (@ManCityzenscom) May 12, 2019 Now, flowing freely through the midfield, City found their fourth goal as Ilkay Gundogan stamped his authority with a precise free-kick, beating Brighton shot-stopper Mat Ryan in the 72nd minute. As the final whistle blew away, the Amex stadium was overwhelmed with City's title-winning celebrations. WWWWWWWWWWWWWWinners! 14 wins in a row to wrap up and incredible season! ðµ #mancity pic.twitter.com/ONrqLSGrOe — Manchester City (@ManCity) May 12, 2019 Guardiola and his men did it. Against all odds and great competition from Liverpool, City became the first team to retain the Premier League title in the last decade. Guardiola joined the likes of Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho to become the third manager in history to win the Premier League title in back-to-back seasons. He also became the first manager to retain the league title in Spain, Germany and England. Bumps for the boss! ð ðµ #mancity ð pic.twitter.com/dVEQyujDtJ — Manchester City (@ManCity) May 12, 2019 The fact that City has amassed 198 points across two seasons surely highlights their might, but the form mustered in the run-in - 18 wins in 19 games in the second-half of the season - represents a blistering response to the challenge on their authority being mustered from Anfield. The Reds finished the season with a 2-0 win over Wolves, but their tally of 97 points - which would've been enough to win the Premier League in all but one of the previous 26 seasons - just wasn't enough to pip City to the title this season. Flying-high on the plane back to Manchester last night! ðµ #mancity ð pic.twitter.com/2hTowfIUqd — Manchester City (@ManCity) May 13, 2019 But, despite all that, are we giving enough respect to Man City? It might seem like a ridiculous question to ask given they are one of the richest clubs in the world, with a world-class squad at their disposal and possibly the best manager at the helm, but yet it is a question that begs asking. This is a side that bulldozed its way to the Premier League title last year with a swagger not seen for some time. But, it was their triumph - derived under immense pressure from relentless Liverpool - this season that showed their true character and grit - qualities of a champion side. They might still have a long way to go to win Champions League, but it shouldn't overshadow what they've achieved this season. Celebrations befitting the Champions ð« ðµ #mancity ð pic.twitter.com/gEt1xvI3HG — Manchester City (@ManCity) May 12, 2019 Now, as Liverpool gear up for the Champions League final against Hotspur in Madrid to salvage some silverware this season, Guardiola's miracle workers and their fans deserve every ounce of respect for their brilliant showing. And, as their city neighbours slump to new lows, the 'Blue Moon' continues to shine bright in Manchester.
  25. The trailer of 'Kabir Singh' finally dropped today and even though the movie is a remake of the cult hit 'Arjun Reddy', it looks exactly like the breath of crisp, fresh air we need in terms of good content in Bollywood. The movie stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead as Dr. Kabir Singh who is obsessed with his lover Preeti, played by the gorgeous Kiara Advani. Shahid looks insanely convincing with his mad genius acting skills as the self destructive, alcoholic lover lurking in the aftermath of life when Preeti is not a part of it anymore. © T-Series You know in the age of nepotism where we are treated to garishly unauthentic love stories on the screen in the form of the recently released 'SOTY 2', this dark movie proves why at the end of the day, content is the king and one needs a stellar actor like Shahid Kapoor to nail it. Sure, the classic comparison with the original 'Arjun Reddy' is uncanny and wonderfully obvious, but Mr. Kapoor knows how to own a script. Kiara looks amazingly fresh as the innocent and naïve Preeti. Also, it's not just us who feel that all awards are going his way but the fans also feel something similar. #KabirSingh official trailer - https://t.co/fdsvsY0CE2@shahidkapoor mahn ...many awards on the row waiting for you !!!!!!ðâ¤ï¸â¤ï¸ð¥ð¥ð¥ð¥ð¥ pic.twitter.com/cIZvDchxtk — Mirza Ghalib (@MirzaGh02142359) May 13, 2019 Absolutely mind blowing trailer !!! ðð¥ð¥ Rocking it perfectly as #KabirSinghð¥ #shahid — à¤à¤¯à¥à¤¶ सिà¤à¤¹ ð®ð³ (@ayush_rewa) May 13, 2019 What an amazing trailer #KabirSingh.
