  1. For some reason, a lot of Indians seem to simply love to hate things - no justifications required. We're coming dangerously close to being like the couple that breaks up every night only to get back together the next morning. We don't need logical explanations as to why we must collectively hate or even boycott something or someone anymore. It's almost as if an overload of too much and too little has messed up our sense of judgement. © Fox Star Studios Perhaps that's the reason why a certain section of our society has taken it very personally and decided to call for a mass boycott of Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone's upcoming movies, Chhapaak and Toofan. Within hours of Deepika's appearance at the on-going protests at JNU protests and Farhan's recent participation in an anti-CAA-NRC protest, #boycottchhapaak and #boycotttoofan began trending on Twitter. © Excel Entertainment However, given Bollywood's past history with boycotts, here are 6 Hindi movies that went on to become hits at the box office despite being boycotted: 1. Padmaavat © SLB Films One of the most controversial Bollywood movies of recent times, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmaavat faced strong protests. Bhansali was assaulted on the set, death threats were given out and what's more, a bounty was even announced on Deepika Padukone's head. The Rajputs called for a boycott, but when the movie was released it was a stellar hit. 2. PK © Vinod Chopra Films This 2014 blockbuster went on to woo a large number of viewers despite earning a lot of backlash ahead of its release. From the Shiv Sena's claim that it hurt religious sentiments of Hindus, to others detesting the Love Jihad sub-plot in the film, PK saw it all. However, regardless of all the controversies, PK won a lot of critical acclaim. 3. My Name Is Khan © Dharma-Production Just ahead of its release in 2010, the Karan Johar directorial, My Name Is Khan drew the ire of the Shiv Sena, who protested against SRK's remarks on how he felt humiliated because Pakistani players weren't being selected for the IPL. Shah Rukh's posters were defaced, his effigies burnt, and his patriotism was questioned. Yet, despite it all, it went on to become one of SRK's biggest opening films across the globe! 4. Dangal © Aamir Khan Productions The excitement was high when the trailer for Dangal hit the screens. The film came with multiple elements to entice Indians. Starring Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan, the film was based on India's wrestling stars, the Phogat sisters and came with much sporting fanfare and national pride. However, a section of the society called for the movie's ban owing to Aamir's comment on “rising intolerance” in the country. People called him anti-national and #LetsBoycottDangal became a Twitter trend. But in no way did that stop the film from becoming a blockbuster. 5. Lipstick Under My Burkha © Prakash Jha Productions Another star contender on the 'controversial Hindi films' category, Lipstick Under My Burkha had a very rocky start when it came to the film's screening in India. Beginning with the CBFC's refusal to certify the film owing to its sexual content and use of strong language, the Board also claimed that the film was “too lady-oriented”. Whatever that means. Additionally, Muslim leaders from Bhopal called for the movie's boycott because it hurt religious sentiments of the community. Yet, upon finally receiving the certification, Lipstick Under My Burkha was well received and won numerous national and international awards. 6. Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela © SLB Films Yet another Sanjay Leela Bhansali creation, Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela, faced multiple protests across the country ahead of its release. Cities like Indore, Rajkot, and Jalandhar protested against the film's title and content. A petition was also filed against the film in the Delhi HC because the film's content involving ***, violence and vulgarity 'deeply hurt Hindu religious sentiments'. View the full article
  2. Pakistani actress Maya Ali was recently trolled for wearing a pair of ripped jeans, and instead of taking any offence the Teefa In Trouble starlet came up with a reply that proved she is blessed with a good sense of humor along with incredible acting skills. Ali had shared one of her photos on Instagram that showed her donning ripped jeans as she struck a pose on one of her vacations abroad. "I can buy you new jeans - that don’t have holes in them. Also you should ask for a raise," one of her over 3 million fans commented. Not only did the actor notice the comment, but also offered a funny reply. "I'll be grateful to you if you can give me your feather and diamante jeans.... I want some “glitter” in my life ria," she quipped with a ROFL emoji.
  3. Starting from being a nobody in the industry to winning the hearts of millions, Kartik Aaryan has come a long way and has carved a niche for himself by entertaining masses with his stellar performances on the silver screen. However, it wasn't a cakewalk for the small-town boy who arrived in the city of dreams to live the life he had dreamt of. When you have no connections and are an outsider, it's altogether a different game as it's not easy to get in. In an interaction with the Instagram page Humans of Bombay, the actor revealed how he struggled to fame while trying for luck in auditions, where he faced rejection quite frequently. © Panorama Studios "I got projects like a few seconds in an ad & they kept me going. Eventually, I rented a flat in Andheri with 12 boys. I had limited finances. I couldn't even afford a portfolio—I'd crop my face out of group photos to send to agents! All the while I'd skip college to give auditions & my parents didn't know about any of this. Once I saw an ad for a film audition & decided to go for it. They liked me & auditioned me many times. My final audition script was the monologue that then became my identity! Finally, when I got the role, I was at Andheri station & immediately called my mom! She couldn't believe it,” Aaryan said in the post. He further added, “After 2 & a half years of struggle, what I had imagined as a possibility, was now a reality. After Pyaar Ka Punchama, there still weren't many opportunities. I stayed in the same flat with 12 boys till my third film! At the time, my mom was adamant I finish my degree, so while shooting, I gave my exams—& people in the exam hall were clicking photos with me! But I understood that she wanted my future to be secure.” View this post on Instagram “I was born in the small town of Gwalior. My parents were in the medical field & I was going to do engineering. But in 9th grade, I saw Baazigar & I knew I wanted to be on the other side of the screen. I was unsure of my parents' reaction—so I decided to study till 12th in Gwalior & then go to college in Mumbai. Luckily I got into a college in Navi Mumbai. I stayed in a hostel & searched for auditions. I had no contacts, so I'd type keywords like, 'Actor Needed' on Facebook. I'd travel for 6 hours 3-4 times a week for auditions. At times, I'd be rejected from outside the studio because I didn't 'look the part'. But I still had hope. Soon I got projects like a few seconds in an ad & they kept me going. Eventually I rented a flat in Andheri with 12 boys. I had limited finances. I couldn't even afford a portfolio—I'd crop my face out of group photos to send to agents! At the time, my mom was adamant I finish my degree, so while shooting, I gave my exams—& people in the exam hall were clicking photos with me! But I understood that she wanted my future to be secure. After Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, it all changed! Life has come full circle now—recently when I was in Gwalior, I was invited to my school as chief guest & kids were chanting my name! It was surreal! But what I have today, would've never come my way, if I hadn't believed that I'd make it. I'm grateful for where I am & I know I have a long way to go. Sometimes all of it still feels unbelievable—from this point on, the possibilities just seem endless & my dreams, are just waiting to come true.” A post shared by Humans of Bombay (@officialhumansofbombay) on Dec 2, 2019 at 4:54am PST “After Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, it all changed! The idea is to just keep trying until you finally reach the destination that you have set for yourself. On the professional front, Kartik is all set to star in the Hindi remake of Pati Patni Aur Woh alongside Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar. Apart from that, Kartik will also be seen in Imtiaz Ali's untitled next, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and Dostana 2. View the full article
  4. In a country where cricket is regarded as no less than a religion, India has been biased towards the gentleman's game over the years. While cricket continues to hog the limelight, other sports including football remain on the sidelines with comparatively lower fanfare. But, the times are changing and the gap, that was once feared irreversible, has reduced considerably. With a keen interest from the younger generation, football as a sport has surely broken new ground in the country. The football contests are short, crisp and probably more exciting than the cricketing contests we've been used to watching with our parents. However, despite an increasing interest in football, people in this part of the world appear to be more interested in foreign leagues like the Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga. Every now and then, one can find themselves in a brief conversation about India's lack of producing a well-equipped football unit - one that can help the country qualify for the coveted FIFA World Cup. But, the conversation generally ends as soon as the players return to the pitch after half-time during a Premier League clash over the weekend. While the love for the sport is a great motivator to drive its popularity in any country, for a nation to truly make a mark on the ever-competitive world stage, its domestic leagues need support to nurture young talents so as to turn them into future stars - something that has eluded I-League over the years. © I-League It was in 1996 that India began its first domestic league known as the National Football League, rechristened as I-League in 2007. But, despite being around for almost 23 years, the country's premier football league is still an alien in India. If the lack of fanfare and viewership marred its popularity, I-League was dealt with a major blow after the Kuala Lumpur-based Asian Football Confederation (AFC), along with the All India Football Federation (AIFF), elevated the cash-rich Indian Super League (ISL) to the status of India's premier league earlier this October. From celebrity owners, prominent foreign coaches and players to a huge influx of money from IMG-Reliance, the ISL, in its brief existence, managed to achieve what I-League couldn't in years. Since then, I-League has played a second fiddle to the ISL with bare minimum viewership and lack of funds. © I-League But, despite lack of commercial interests and hosting games in half-empty stadiums, the I-League isn't deterred to serve its all-important purpose - nurturing young talents and providing the much-needed arsenal to ensure Indian football continues to grow in its bid to secure World Cup qualification. And, that's what the country's premier league aims for in its upcoming 13th season. Kick-starting on November 30, with Mohun Bagan FC taking on Aizawl FC in Mizoram, the 13th edition of the I-League will feature 11 teams, with the induction of TRAU FC, winners of the Hero Second division last season. In a first, fans from across the country, this season, will witness two local derbies - the legendary Kolkata derby between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan, and the Imphal derby featuring Neroca FC and TRAU FC. For years, we've speculated over the quality of football in Indian domestic leagues and how it's still way behind other competitive leagues across the globe. So, is there anything different on offer from I-League this season? Well, the I-League superstars have spilled the beans. © I-League "Every year the I-League is getting tougher. Each year comparatively we have so much fight. We have the southern derby between Gokulam Kerala FC and Chennai City FC. It makes competition very tough, we have slowly shifted from the Nigerians to the Spaniards. So, we are going more towards the European style of football and most of the teams now offer the same. So, we can certainly see a difference in the style of play," Ajith Kumar, Chennai City FC defender, told MensXP. Peter Lalduhawma, Aizawl FC midfielder, feels that the evening starts to the games this season will improve the attendance in the stadiums. "I think the timings of the matches is one major different thing. Most of the fans go to work which reduces the audience in the stadiums and with 7:00 pm matches will help us attract more fans. We have already seen it in the Mizoram premier league - the fans are much more in the night than the afternoon," he told MensXP. "AIFF is putting in their efforts to improve the season every year. In the last five years we have had five different winners. The teams are better and tougher and so is the league. I believe this year the football itself will attract the fans," he added. © I-League On being asked about I-League's role in grooming and nurturing young talents, Jonathan Lalrawngbawla, Aizawl FC striker, said, "Aizawl FC has always concentrated on the youth and we already have U13, U15, U16, U17 and U19 teams. So, this coming I-League will also be very interesting for us as there are many young talented players in the team. So, it will be a new experience for the team". “Over the years the Hero I-League has been scouting and providing a platform for future stars of Indian Football. In the 13th edition this year we have 11 teams from eight states and one Union Territory fighting for the top honours. I wish luck to all the participating teams,” Kushal Das, AIFF General Secretary, said ahead of the new I-League season. Praful Patel, AIFF President, also stressed on the importance of the I-League and said, “We are very happy to welcome TRAU FC to the 13th edition of the Hero I-League. The pan India presence has been the unique feature of the league in the last few editions, and is a true testimony to the manner it has played a critical role in spreading the game to all corners of the country”. © I-League The I-League might not be able to compete with the cash-rich ISL, but if last season was anything to go by, the country's oldest professional competition was far better than its counterpart, thriving on its own strength, rather than relying on the grossly artificial publicity overdrive. Unperturbed by their demotion as country's premier league, I-League, with its new season, seems hell-bent on proving Indian football is not just about the money. After all, the beautiful game is all about courage, inspiration and steely nerves, not a vulgar display of breaking the bank. View the full article
  5. Former Indian cricketer and currently a Parliament member, Gautam Gambhir has won million hearts on the internet today. While politicians across the country manage to earn a dubious reputation where the public questions their morals and doubt their public service capacity, Gautam has proved he is not that kind of a politician. When he found that a 6-year-old Pakistani girl Omaima Ali and her parents were struggling to get her a medical visa for a heart surgery in Delhi, he decided to go all out and do whatever he could to ensure it happened. © Instagram In an interview, Gautam revealed that he found out about the girl's condition through a phone call made by former Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Yousuf. After that, he urged and requested the External Affairs ministry to oblige the family and help the young girl. His plea was granted and Gautam happily shared the piece of information on his social media. à¤à¤¸ पार सॠà¤à¤ ननà¥à¤¹à¥ दिल नॠदसà¥à¤¤à¤ दà¥, à¤à¤¸ पार दिल नॠसब सरहदà¥à¤ मिà¤à¤¾ दà¥à¥¤ à¤à¤¨ ननà¥à¤¹à¥ à¤à¤¦à¤®à¥à¤ à¤à¥ साथ बहतॠहà¥à¤ मà¥à¤ ॠहवा भॠà¤à¤ हà¥, à¤à¤à¥-à¤à¤à¥ à¤à¤¸à¤¾ भॠलà¤à¤¤à¤¾ हॠà¤à¥à¤¸à¥ बà¥à¤à¥ à¤à¤° à¤à¤ हà¥à¥¤ Thank u @DrSJaishankar 4 granting visa to Pakistani girl& her parents for her heart surgery @narendramodi @AmitShah pic.twitter.com/zuquO2hnMv — Gautam Gambhir (@GautamGambhir) October 19, 2019 The internet was flooded with people lauding him for this humanitarian gesture. Despite all the nonsense that the Pak govt is creating and the madness at the borders...we still have a HEART for tender souls @ImranKhanPTI — Pawan Gulati (@PawanGulati5) October 19, 2019 Some people even mentioned that the honourable (late) Sushma Swaraj would have been very proud of her ministry. I'm sure the honourable late smt @SushmaSwaraj ji will be proud of her ministry @BJP4India — Pawan Gulati (@PawanGulati5) October 19, 2019 However, his actions were also questioned by others asking him why he couldn't do enough in India and had to help this young girl. Where there is love, hate shall breed but humanity is the biggest religion of them all and let's just appreciate this gesture of help he offered to save a young kid's life.
  6. Last year, the 'Hum Fit Toh India Fit' campaign took the internet by storm. The 68-year-old PM Modi participated in the challenge and proved that age is just a number for him, as he shared videos of him working out and performing yoga asanas, while lying on top of a rock. © Twitter In fact, time and again PM Narendra Modi has urged his followers (on social media) to include yoga as an integral part of their lives. In case you didn't know, all the Yoga lovers and the world in general actually will celebrate International Yoga Day on June 21, this year. On 21st June, we will mark #YogaDay2019. I urge you all to make Yoga an integral part of your life and also inspire others to do the same. The benefits of Yoga are tremendous. 7. Our society may be divided into many cultures and people who follow different religions, but the common thread lies in the belief that humanity is the biggest religion. The holy month of Ramzan is going on right now and setting a beautiful example of communal harmony, the Shri Sita Ram temple in Ayodhya hosted an Iftar feast proving that the world is a better place when we have love in our heart. Also, this is not the first time this happened, and the priest of the temple explained that they plan on continuing this tradition in the future as well. 8. Respawn's 'Apex Legends' has been hitting some impressive gaming milestone since it's launch. The game recently hit 50 million players worldwide, and now it's been brought to light that the title has become the biggest free-to-play launch of all time. © Respawn According to a report by market research firm Superdata, 'Apex Legends' is not just a big hit for EA, it's also the became biggest free-to-play title launch of all time by pulling in a whopping $92 million in revenue in its launch month i.e. February across all platforms. Not just that, 'Apex Legends' also became one of the top ten grossing games in February. Reportedly, most of the money which 'Apex Legends' made was on consoles, not PC. The game ranked fourth in console revenue and sixth in PC among all titles. Here, take a look: © Superdata 'Fortnite', as you can see, still topped 'Apex Legends' on both the platforms by generating more than $300 million in a single month. Yes, 'Apex Legends' may not have killed 'Fortnite' in terms of the revenue, but there's no denying that 'Apex Legends' is just as popular as 'Fortnite', if not more. I mean, I personally play 'Apex Legends' a lot more than 'Fortnite' nowadays, and I know I am not alone. 'Apex Legends', in case you don't know, is a free-to-play title that's available on EA's Origin. The game has revenue streams via its virtual coin currency, which allows players to purchase Apex Packs and splurge on cosmetic upgrades. In fact, even some legends like Mirage, Caustic and the new Octane are behind a paywall for those who want to add them quickly instead of earning points to acquire them.
  9. In 2018, a depleted Indian cricket team snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the Nidahas Trophy final in Sri Lanka. The thrilling victory against Bangladesh will be remembered for two things: Dinesh Karthik's match-winning knock and Vijay Shankar's struggles. While the former turned the tide in India's favour with a stunning batting display, the latter's sluggish innings almost cost his side the game and trophy. Following India's emphatic triumph, while Karthik was being hailed for his batting prowess, Shankar became the subject of immense criticism on the social media. Since that match, a lot has changed, but cricket fans still won't let poor Shankar catch a break. Every time he comes on to bat or sprints in to bowl, social media trolls patiently wait for the Indian allrounder to stutter in a bid to remind him of his debacle in Sri Lanka. Lately, as India continues to tinker with their batting line-up in a bid to find best possible alternatives for the ICC World Cup, Shankar has often been seen batting higher up the order to the sheer displeasure of the trolls. © BCCL On 5th March, Shankar was once again sent ahead of Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni at the No. 5 slot against Australia in the 2nd One-Day International (ODI) in Nagpur. But, as the trolls geared up to fire volleys at him, Shankar, owing to a brilliant batting display, made them eat their own words. Coming out to bat, with India reeling at 75/3, the right-handed batsman gave adequate support to his skipper Virat Kohli as the duo stabilised the innings for their side with a pivotal 81-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Striking at over 112, the 28-year-old scored a crucial 46 runs, including five fours and a six to aid the hosts. He was on his way to what would've been a well-deserved fifty before getting dismissed in the most unfortunate manner. In the 29th over, Adam Zampa tossed it up to Kohli who smashed it straight back before the bowler got some fingertips to the ball that eventually crashed onto the stumps at the non-striker's end, catching Shankar short at the crease. © Twitter/BCCI The right-hander had played just five ODIs before this game, with 45 being his highest score. But, it was arguably during this innings that Shankar looked at his fluent best, proving his credentials as a batsman. Thus, there was no surprise to see the cricket bigwigs and fans lauding his batting effort on social media. Forget Vijay Shankar the all rounder, let's focus on Vijay Shankar the batsman. That innings of 46 was oozing class. ðððð#AUSvIND — Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) March 5, 2019 Undortunate end to Vijay Shankar's innings. 10. Yesterday, on February 14, the nation was painted red with blood as more than 40 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel were martyred in one of the worst terrorist attacks ever, in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The death toll is on a constant rise as the injured soldiers continue battling for life. © AP From Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bollywood celebrities to commoners; the nation is mourning the death of these bravehearts. The families of martyrs have sunk in deep shock and no amount of words can ever console those hearts that are weeping for their loved ones, who were killed in Pulwama. Attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs. May the injured recover quickly. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) February 14, 2019 However, no matter how tough the times have been, people from across the country have always stood in solidarity with each other and this time too, they are paying their tributes to the martyrs by coming forward to provide financial help to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives. In 2017, actor Akshay Kumar along with the Central Government launched 'Bharat Ke Veer', an initiative to pay homage to the bravehearts who lost their lives in the line of duty. In this initiative, one can help the families financially, by donating either using the app or the website bharatkeveer.gov.in. © YouTube Apart from 'Bharat Ke Veer', the organisation 'Milaap' has also started a fundraiser to help the families affected by the terror attack. Actor Kunal Kapoor too posted on social media about his campaign 'Ketto', urging people to come forward and support the martyrs' kin. My heartfelt appeal to people, to come forward & support @ketto for their campaign to rehabilitate the families of @crpfindia martyrs. India, lets stand up for those who gave their lives for our safety. Jai Hind ð®ð³ — kunal kapoor (@kapoorkkunal) February 15, 2019 You too can contribute to these fundraisers and prove that nothing can break the nation's spirit in these dark times.
  11. If you're completely relying on a particular ecosystem of products, you'd expect them to have easy connectivity options, at least among each other. While Apple has among the best in-sync mechanisms on the software end using iCloud and AirDrop, the company has some serious issues with hardware. Anand Mahindra, CEO of Mahindra Group, bought himself an iPad Pro and realised a normal iPhone lightning connector no longer works with it. To charge the new tablet, a USB-C connection has been provided and you need to carry a separate connector for the device. This fact annoyed the Indian billionaire and he expressed his disappointment on Twitter. © BCCL In a tweet, Mahindra said that he will have to buy a new charger as well as earphone which will add to the list of accessories he needs to carry while travelling. The business tycoon added that this is why most people are sticking to the existing model of their device. When Apple released the lightning connector in 2012, it was supposed to be the de facto option for devices like mobiles and tablets. Don't get us wrong, USB-C is equally advanced and in many cases even better thanks to compatibility with non-Apple devices. But, Apple has been pushing the new port very selectively, coercing users to carry two cables at a given point, one for the iPhone and one for the iPad. Got a new iPad & found that the lightning connector's been https://t.co/UmJpsLysGo need a new charger which doesn't work with my iPhone&new earphones too.More junk when I travel. Great strategy to boost accessory sales, but not surprised more folks are sticking to existing models — anand mahindra (@anandmahindra) January 18, 2019 If Apple is serious about pushing USB-C in all its devices, it should also upgrade the port on iPhone's. Over the years, Apple has been as frustrating as it is innovative, especially when it comes to changing chargers on its devices. Apple also removed the MagSafe port from the Mac line-up and added a USB-C instead. This led to even more problems for the end user since the laptop completely eliminated USB-A, forcing users to depend on multiple dongles for SD cards, HDMI, and more. © iMore Buying a new cable for an Apple device is also significantly expensive, leaving users with no option but to spend or perish. He also expressed unhappiness over the matter that the accessories like earphone for iPhone is also not compatible with iPad Pro. When Apple removed the headphone jack from iPhones, it provided small lightning to 3.5mm dongle in the box. With the latest iPhones, even the dongle isn't available out of the box. © The Verge The point is, Apple is a premium brand should stop ignoring basic user requirements. While these actions are getting them some more cash in the short term, pissing off buyers is never a good idea in the longer run.
  12. Fortnite has been dominating the gaming world and is probably the most successful free-to-play game in gaming history. The game managed to make $2.8 billion in revenue in 2018 and it doesn't seem to die out in popularity soon. The Battle Royale genre was made popular by PUBG and the game has held its own when it comes to earnings. © Blue Hole 2018 was a huge year for PUBG and according to Superdata figures, the game made over $1 billion in revenue last year. That made PUBG the highest grossing paid game in 2018 and the earnings don't even include money made from PUBG mobile. If we take earnings from PUBG mobile into consideration, it is probably the second highest grossing game right behind Fortnite. Here's the full list of both free-to-play and paid games ranked according to their earnings: Top Free-to-play Games Fortnite, Epic Games - $2.4 billion Dungeon Fighter Online, Nexon - $1.5 billion League of Legends, Riot Games, Tencent - $1.4 billion Pokemon GO, Niantic - $1.3 billion Crossfire, Neowiz Games - $1.3 billion Honour of Kings, Tencent - $1.3 billion Fate/Grand Order, Aniplex - $1.2 billion Candy Crush Saga, King, Activision Blizzard - $1.1 billion Monster Strike, Mixi - $1.0 billion Clash Royale, Supercell, Tencent - $0.9 billion Top Paid Games PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Bluehole - $1.028 billion FIFA 18, Electronic Arts - $790 million Grand Theft Auto V, Take-Two Interactive - $628 million Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII, Activision Blizzard - $612 million Red Dead Redemption 2, Take-Two Interactive - $516 million Call of Duty: WWII, Activision Blizzard - $506 million FIFA 19, Electronic Arts - $482 million Monster Hunter: World, Capcom - $467 million Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft - $440 million Overwatch, Activision Blizzard - $429 million PUBG has been continually losing players after it peaked with 3 million concurrent players worldwide however it still ended up being the top selling and most-played game on steam. Considering how Fortnite has been destroying everything in its path, it's impressive to see the game earn this kind of figures. © MensXP The mobile version of the game has become more popular thanks to its popularity in India and other regions. The mobile version earned $32.5 million in November 2018 alone and it seems like the popularity of the game will only seem to rise. It's not only the mobile version, the game saw a sudden rise in concurrent players on Steam I.e. 1 million players in December 2018. This may have been due to Blue Hole's effort to purge hackers that initially led to the game's stagnant growth. It would be interesting to see how PUBG will fare against Fortnite in 2019 and whether it would be able to rake in similar revenue numbers. Still, it was reassuring to see PUBG hold it's own against a juggernaut like Fortnite. Source: Forbes

  14. If there was ever a character whose dressing sense enamoured every man, it was our very own Barney Stinson from 'How I Met Your Mother'. He would 'suit up', and every man would follow suit - because of the sheer class, and more importantly, relatability he brought with his sartorial game. He might have been a playboy in reel life, but IRL, he's very much a 'family man' who is married to the love of his life, and has a beautiful family with two children. This might be a shift, but his sartorial sense has remained as killer as it was in the show. In fact, his husband David Burtka too carries this trait. 15. When athletes with common interests get on the same roster and play for years together, the chemistry ought to get beyond the field of play. A bromance so to speak - a little more than friendship but not too much. Well, you get the idea. Here's look at some of the biggest bromances in the world of sports: 1. Hardik Pandya & MS Dhoni Hardik Pandya has openly said it time and again that former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is his favourite Indian cricketer of all time. After recovering from a lower-back injury, Pandya spoke out about how Dhoni completely changed his life for the better. “He never changed my game,” Pandya told timesnownews.com. “Dhoni was someone who was very important to me as I was raw, I was learning… and he gave me the time to understand my role.” Dhoni, on the other hand, has not been shy to show his love for the all-rounder either. Spotted together at the wedding reception of Bollywood stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh, the duo was found posing like best buddies for the paparazzi. Sergio Aguero & Lionel Messi Starting out as two of the youngest players of the Argentina team, Messi and Aguero were destined to form a bonding over an extremely unfortunate incident. When Aguero's childhood friend and teammate Emiliano Molina passed away in a car crash, it was Messi who broke the news to him and presented himself as the shoulder for him to cry on. “They hugged and cried together for quite a while, supporting each other despite the anguish that gripped them,” journalist Daniel Fresco told goal.com. As they say, “friendships bound by sorrow, last forever.” © Reuters This, along with the fact that Lio Messi is the godfather to Aguero's son, Benjamin, makes this bromance real. 3. Tickets will go on sale in early February. The thing about great athletes is that they don't shy away from recognising greatness when they see it, and that's exactly what happened between Federer and Nadal. While one is all about finesse and dexterity, the other is about brute force. Even with completely different profiles, the true Nadal-Federer duo could be witnessed during the 2017 Laver Cup finals when the two titans were seen on the same side of the net. “Everyone was waiting for this moment since they announced this event is going to happen. This is the time. So I think it's almost like a celebration of tennis,” Czech tennis star Tomas Berdych told The Telegraph. The fact that Nadal and Federer practised only once together, back at the World Tour Finals and yet managed to defeat the Americans, Jack Sock and Sam Querrey, tells so much about their chemistry. "We will always be rivals. But this was something very special, it was an absolute pleasure being on the court with Rafa and seeing his decision-making process,” Federer expresses to The Telegraph. 4. Lebron James & Dwyane Wade View this post on Instagram Current mood.. Until the wheels fall thee f#*k off @dwyanewade. Beyond death! P.S @willsmith @martinlawrence appreciate letting us flex this clip! A post shared by LeBron James (@kingjames) on Dec 10, 2018 at 5:36pm PST Entering the league in the same draft year, Dwyane Wade and Lebron James immediately became the poster boys for their respective teams. The bromance for the duo began when James decided to move to Miami in the search for a title. Despite the presence of Chris Bosh, people paid big bucks to see the Wade-James duo perform on a different level than everyone else present on the court. Videos of 'Wade to James alley-oops' are all over YouTube and are genuinely fun to watch. The chemistry goes well beyond the court as the two NBA stars are often spotted vacationing together with their families and continue to do a lot of social work as a team. James and Wade were also able to win back-to-back championships in Miami. Wade also moved to a Lebron-led Cleveland Cavaliers for a very brief moment.

  18. The easiest way of identifying a millennial is to track down the proudest ones in the group. Add in a whole lot of nostalgia to the mix, along with a strong allegiance to anything that has a '90s' ring to it, and et voila! You've got yourself a millennial. There really can't be any two ways about the fact that millennials happen to be a proud lot. You see, they have their reasons. Theirs is the generation that grew up with the internet, saw the rise of computers and cell phones to become everyday commodities, as well as ushered in some of the greatest socio-politico-economic changes for the following generations to come. © Y-Films Now, the millennials might (claim to) know their shit, okay, some of them might even actually know what they're up to, and if Mary Meeker's 'Internet Trend Report' is to be believed, the millennials are kind of ruling over all the important areas of the world, especially the workforce. But Gen Y ought to get over its preoccupation soon enough, because Gen Z is steadily catching up to them. The current crop of 19-year-olds has started to make their presence felt. Also known as the iGen, this ultra tech-savvy generation is not only over-zealous but also happens to be the generation of doers and achievers. © Dharma Productions Gen Z might soon be taking over the reins from the millennials, as these 8 things prove why we feel they're capable of it. Based on a detailed report by author and speaker Ryan Jenkins providing insights on Gen Z, the following aspects make them different and better than the millennials. 1. Gen Z Is Realistic Unlike the millennials, who are optimistic by nature for having grown up at the juncture of newer opportunities in abundance, Gen Z is more realistic by nature. Having grown up during the recession, 77% of Gen Z is expected to be more hardworking than the previous generations. 2. Gen Z Is Independent iGen believes in going solo in every big or small aspect of their lives. While millennials are more inclined towards a group or collaborative efforts, Gen Z prefers to work independently. 71% of Gen Z swear by the 'Do It Yourself' motto in all aspects of their life, for the best outcomes. © UTV Motion Pictures 3. Gen Z Is Of Digital Origins What that means is that while the millennials saw the rise of WWW and smartphones, Gen Z was born into it. They did not witness these revolutions, but instead landed the legacy. Gen Z is more productive because of the high-speed internet connectivity and curated online content. 4. Gen Z Chooses To Share Selectively Unlike millennials, who are obsessed with sharing the most minute and private details of their life with the online community, Gen Z believes in being more safe and selective about their online presence. 5. Gen Z Digs Interpersonal Interactions © Y-Films Very different to its previous generation, Gen Z finds it easier to find the equilibrium that would allow them to make use of both online and offline mode of communication with others, making them more popular and approachable. This is in great contrast to millennials, who like to avoid face-to-face interactions. 6. Gen Z Is Interested In Alternate Forms Of Learning Another thing about Gen Z that makes them highly interesting, is their aversion to restricting their scope of education to traditional ways of education. Gen Z is instead more interested in hands-on and on-demand learning such as online tutorials and the like. © Twitter 7. Gen Z's Idea Of Success Is Exposure Again, unlike millennials, Gen Z is more concerned about the learning experience and exposure in their field of work, rather than switch jobs like Gen Y simply because they feel “bored”. Gen Z prefers to learn and grow in their own space and pace. 8. Gen Z = Global Citizens With more and more youngsters getting online, it's become much easier for Gen Z to erase international boundaries and interact with their global counterparts much more easily than the millennials. This helps them to move around the globe much more easily. These 8 aspects make Gen Z pretty different and more sorted than the millennials. With such credible characteristics to themselves, Gen Z will take over the reins from the millennials in no time.

  21. Aamir Khan who is loved on-screen for his brilliant portrayal of characters recently turned into a real-life hero and saved the life of his 'Dangal' colleague. It was his well-timed help that saved the life of National Film Award-winning sound engineer Shajith Koyeri. © Twitter After Koyeri suffered from a severe attack, he was rushed to Bandra's Lilavati Hospital on Thursday morning, where they waited for hours to get doctor's assistance. As per reports, the family had no option left and they reached out to Aamir Khan for help. After receiving the call, the actor immediately rushed to the hospital around midnight. The family confirmed that no doctor has examined him since the MRI was done. Instantly, Aamir moved him to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri for the treatment. The 'Thugs of Hindostan' actor got in touch with Anil Ambani's family who owns Kolikaben hospital and got the needful done. By 3 am, Koyeri was transferred. © Twitter As per the family, Koyeri was taken for an MRI after he suffered from the stroke. Though he was rushed into the intensive care unit (ICU), there was no doctor who came to examine him even once. Koyeri, who won a National Award for 'Omkara', complained about uneasiness quite a few times, but no one from the hospital was there to help. As his condition was deteriorating, they reached out for Aamir's help. Talking to Mumbai Mirror, Koyeri's sister Neesha said, "Had he not been there, who knows how bad it could have been?" © Twitter Meanwhile, Lilavati authorities have denied the allegation and stated that their doctors are always available round-the-clock and Koyeri received the required treatment on time. Though it is difficult to say what really happened, people for sure are loving Aamir's heroic act and showering him with love on Twitter. Aamir Khan is not only a great actor but also to be a great person. Thank you for caring for the crew of your film. 22. There is something about sports and women coming together that makes for such a killer combination, which is good enough to make guys sway towards the ones who seem to enjoy the game just as much as they do. While it is common knowledge that numerous famous actors, models, singers and the likes have invariably ruled over the hearts of our favourite sports stars, there remains something to be said of the kookiness that these star couples bring to the sporting arena. Be it cricket, football, tennis or any other sport of interest, fans have always been curious about the personal lives of their favourite stars, just as much as their professional achievements. Some of the most gorgeous women in the world are married to a great number of sportsmen, which only goes on to show that women are equally bowled over by the capabilities these sporting stars possess. It's true that these days, marrying older women is no longer looked down upon and some may even say that these sportsmen are “living the dream”, which many younger men have come to confess to (read Nick Jonas). So, here we bring you the names of 5 famous sportsmen who are romantically involved with women much older than them. 1. Sergio Ramos - Pilar Rubio Sois el motor de mi vida. 23. On days when actor Abhishek Bachchan was not busy trolling back the internet trolls, he was shooting for his upcoming movie 'Manmarziyaan' that also stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. © Eros In fact, the recently released trailer gave us two things - first, Anurag Kashyap can make movies without using any cuss words or bullets being fired after every five minutes. Second, this is going to be one of the best and intense performances by Abhishek Bachchan, who is making a comeback after 2 years. © Eros As the movie inches closer to its release date, the cast and crew have started doing the promotional rounds, which recently took them to Amritsar. Now it will be really unfair if you go to Amritsar and don't visit the Golden Temple and looks like Bachchan Jr. too thinks on similar lines. Blessings. ð #waheguru A post shared by Abhishek Bachchan (@bachchan) on Aug 26, 2018 at 11:32pm PDT However, more than his visit to the Golden Temple, it was his sweet and humble gesture that won his fans' hearts. © Instagram Just like a common man, Abhishek Bachchan did sewa by washing the dishes at the Golden Temple. Some people might say, "What's so special about it?" But, seriously, how often do you see a celeb doing something like this? © Instagram In fact, after his Golden Temple visit, Bachchan, along with producer Aanand L Rai, took to the streets and tried the local cuisine of Amritsar. © Instagram 'Manmarziyaan' is a twisted tale of love triangle between Vicky, Taapsee and Abhishek, and is slated to release on September 14.
  24. As natural disaster wreaks havoc in God's own country, we mustn't forget that along with human beings, the flora and fauna have had a ghastly devastating effect on the environment and a lot of animals have lost their lives while trying to survive the floods. But faith in humanity always gets restored with certain acts of compassion, which do not go unnoticed. A lot of relief work is happening for the animals in Kerala and I am glad that good Samaritans exist everywhere, to bring about the perfect amount of balance that is required. © Humane Society International I am sure you must have heard about the woman who wouldn't leave her house in Thrissur, one of the most severely-affected regions in Kerala due to the floods, which has left around 400 people dead. She didn't want to be rescued unless her 25 dogs were rescued with her and the relief workers found it impossible to rescue her dogs because they didn't have the proper aid to do so. Later when she got in touch with Sally Varma from the Humane Society International (HSI), her dogs saw the light of day, as they were found huddled on a bed, in the corner of her house and were rescued by the organisation. © Twitter © Humane Society International Such stories give us so much hope about goodness that is still left in people and we're more than appreciative of their work. While speaking with some folks at the Humane Society of India, we were informed that a team was deployed to a few parts of Kerala for rescue and relief operations for dogs, cats and cattle, who were stranded or stuck amidst the floods. They have even set up a website wherein people can donate a certain amount towards the rescue operations for the four-legged. © Humane Society International Our team is battling treacherous conditions in #Kerala in a bid to bring #abandoned and #Stranded #animals to safety. They've even established a shelter for the rescued animals and are taking care of them there. They've managed to rescue about 18 dogs, who were trapped in a region with 10-feet water! The team used rescue boats and rescued all the 18 dogs, before they headed for their next rescue mission. © friends of animals © friends of animals © friends of animals In another instance, a wild elephant was located, stranded at the Athirapilly Falls in Thrissur. He managed to climb to a rocky terrain to keep himself safe but couldn't move from there and he was presumably stuck there for a good 24 hours at least! The senior forest officials then approached the officials of the Peringalkooth dam and they agreed to shut the three sluice gates for two hours so that the elephant could be brought to safety. The elephant wasn't out of his territory and he was actually stuck in the elephant corridor of the forest! But thanks to the amazing presence of mind of the forest officials, the elephant now lives to see another day. (source: Rajiv N Kurup/Facebook) Hats off to the wonderful messiahs for doing such an exceptional job of saving the lives of these helpless animals. In times of grief and need, it's so heart-warming to see so much compassion and empathy being passed around in the tragedy-stricken state. © Humane Society International If you wish to do your part for the animals, there are various ways to reach out to these folks. 25. The fact that Mr Bachchan perhaps is India's best actor, and has been so since his debut, is a no-brainer. What baffles us is the fact that he's not only restricted to acting, when it comes to badassery. When it comes to style, he is still giving the younglings a run for their money, at the age of 75. Here are 8 pictures that establish our claim: 1. Colour coordinated hoodie and beanie - talk about relaxed athleisure at its finest. If we're half as cool as this even when we're 50, let alone 75, we'll consider that a major achievement. © Instagram 2. This is a polaroid picture that Big B's grand-daughter Navya clicked on her polaroid. Well, if our grandpa looked half as cool in a badass turquoise bomber jacket, we would, too! © Instagram 3. We'll just leave this picture here. No comments. © Instagram 4. Look at the hoodie he's wearing while meeting Mr Perfectionist. Not many 25-year-olds can pull it off as well as he is, here. © Instagram 5. Outfit goals and eyewear goals - all in one picture. The best part is, the outfit and glasses, despite being super extra, doesn't look like it, on him. © Instagram 6. While putting this picture up on Instagram, he put up the word 'Hypebeasts' as a caption. He says he learnt it from 'the daughter and grand daughter', but we all know who's the OG hypebeast (look at that hoodie!) © Instagram 7. A statement black leather trench-coat. Do we need to say more? © Instagram 8. Pink is the colour he chooses to wear while greeting his fans. Classy or classy? © Instagram If this is not a legend right here, please change the definition.
