  1. We rely on our smartphones for almost everything today. From scanning documents to communicating with friends and even finding dates. One of the more common uses of a smartphone is using navigation apps like Google Maps to get to a place we aren’t familiar with. That’s exactly what a man in Indonesia did to reach the wrong house and almost married the wrong woman. © Instagrma According to local media, the mix up happened yesterday where the man went to the same village where the wedding was supposed to take place but entered the wrong house where another wedding was taking place. The hosts welcomed the man and his family to the house and were offered refreshments. After conversations between family members, one of the bride’s family realised the mix-up and averted an embarrassing situation. View this post on Instagram There were two ceremonies taking place in the same village i.e. a wedding and an engagement which was the cause for the confusion. The bride, Ulfa was initially unaware of the situation as she was getting ready for her special day with a make-up artist. In fact, the video from the ceremony went viral where it showed the family leaving the premises with many gifts awkwardly. © unsplash The groom and his family were supposed to reach Losari Hamlet of Pakis District in central Java and were using Google Maps to find their way. However, the family turned up at a different venue called the Jengkol Hamlet which isn’t far from the original intended venue. The groom’s family realised their mistake and apologised to the bride’s family. The groom and his family were directed to the correct wedding venue with the help of Ulfa’s family. Google Maps is widely considered the most accurate navigation app, however it has been known for mix-ups. Last year a man from a village in Tamil Nadu filed a complaint with the local police station as the app was showing places in his timeline he has never visited. The timeline feature uses points of interests rather than an accurate position to plot your activity. This caused marital problems for the man as his wife believed Google over anything else. What do you think about this mix-up caused by Google Maps? We could only imagine what would happen if the man actually had married the wrong woman because of Google Maps. View the full article
  2. In another story of ‘Dogs are the most loyal creatures’, a pet dog helped in catching a man who was trying to escape after raping a mentally challenged woman. The accused was caught by the woman’s family members after the dog’s continuous bark woke them up. They then found the man and handed him over to the police. The incident took place in Tamil Nadu and the man was identified as 29-year old S DhilipKumar who works as a goldsmith. The accused went to the house of the victim on Friday night. © Unsplash The woman, lived separately in the shed of their house while all other family members lived inside the house which was in the same compound. The accused knew the house of the victim already and also planned everything accordingly. He also parked his car several meters away from the victim’s house. The pet dog saw Dhilipkumar while leaving and he blocked him from going anywhere, bit on its pant, and prevented him from fleeing the spot. The woman’s family woke up from the continuous barking of the dog and rushed to the shed where they found the accused. They also alarmed the locals who lived around their house and soon the man was handed over to the police. © Unsplash After interrogation, police found few objectionable videos of the victim in the man’s phone. He also revealed that he had gone to the victim’s house twice before sexually assaulting her and also recorded it on his mobile phone. Now, he has been booked him under the relevant sections of IPC and he is remanded in judicial custody. There's another heart-wrenching story where a dog proved it is indeed man's best friend. The landslide in Kerala’s Munnar swept the houses of 81 people, and the pictures that came after were devastating and heartbreaking to another level. But, images of Kuvi, a country dog searching for his loved ones among the debris, was even more shattering. Kuvi led the search and rescue team then found the body of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl who was missing. © Unsplash The dog found the body of Dhanuska, whose family was the owner of the dog. The body of the little girl was found stuck in the debris in a river and had reached 4Kms away from the landslide spot. After all, doggos are the most loyal. Aren’t they? 3. Govinda began his journey back in 1986 with his debut film Ilzaam and during the 90s, the audience was served with some powerhouse performances as he delivered only hits and massy movies that people appreciated. Being a part of an industry with cut-throat competition, Govinda made sure that he gave it his all, however, things did change for the actor and he started losing his credibility and fans when he signed up for projects like Happy Ending and Kill Dill. View this post on Instagram In 2017, he had revealed there are massive camps in Bollywood and that he chose not to be a part of any which, eventually, led to his downfall. In his recent interview with ETimes, Govinda revealed how the industry 'conspired' against him which resulted in him becoming bitter: 1. Not A Pious Man Anymore © Instagram/Govinda Govinda’s charm was inevitable but things got worse when he felt he was sidelined by the popular stars of Bollywood’s camp. He thinks he is now more corrupt and bitter because he has seen things going downhill. “I have become more corrupt and bitter. These days, I party, smoke, and also drink. The old Govinda was very pious. Earlier, my emotional nature came in the way of my work but today, I don't get emotional. I deal with situations more practically and business-like,” said the actor. 2. Filmmakers Offered Films With *** And ViolenceHe revealed how some people started the rumours that he has been turning down films. “This is a new rumour that has started doing the rounds. They, in fact, conspire by offering me films that I would not like – ones with *** and violence. If you want to make a film that has a lot of ***, why not make porn films?” said Govinda. View this post on Instagram 3. Bollywood Camp Wanted To Make Him A Junior Artist He also revealed how certain people were trying their level best to destroy him completely and turn him into more of a junior artist. © Twitter “I also know there was a discussion in one of the offices to give Govinda 15 scenes and two songs and then later make him Bhagwan Dada by giving him just songs, and thereafter make him a junior artiste. But I did not let them succeed. Maine band Baja di (I gave it right back). I came back playing the hero and also produced the film. However, it is a different story altogether that my film did not get a platform,” said Govinda. Well, those are some pretty powerful statements that are bound to raise some eyebrows. Now, he’s released a new stand-up video titled Ghost Story, and this is one spooky story that’ll take you on a major laugh riot. View this post on Instagram The four others who were arrested included -Edwin Anthony, Prakhar Vyas, Priyam Vyas, and Nalin Yadav. 6. After a brief sharp slump in worth earlier this week, Bitcoin has bounced back once again above the $50,000-level or Rs 36,23,525. Bitcoin is still the world’s largest cryptocurrency in terms of market capitalisation and the recent jump comes because Jack Dorsey’s firm called ‘Square’ recently purchased an additional $170 million worth of the digital cryptocurrency. © Unsplash Square announced during its earnings call earlier this week that the company had purchased 3,318 bitcoins at an aggregate purchase price of $170 million. Bitcoin is now considered to represent 5% of the company’s total cash, marketable securities and cash equivalents. "The investment is part of Square's ongoing commitment to bitcoin, and the company plans to assess its aggregate investment in bitcoin relative to its other investments on an ongoing basis," the company said. Bitcoin suffered heavy losses earlier this week which also caused Elon Musk to lose $15 billion in a day due to the drop in the cryptocurrency’s value. Musk was no longer the richest man in the world due to the slump, however after the sudden surge in value, Musk may have captured his number 1 spot once again. © Unsplash Bitcoin’s fluctuations have not been a major cause of concern for investors who remain unfazed as Bitcoin tends to rebound. "We may be seeing some price fluctuations that can be expected in a nascent space," Paolo Ardoino, Bitfinex CTO, told Business Insider. "Such criticism misses the point and the profound impact it is starting to have. For many of the battle-tested exchanges that have weathered the market fluctuations, volatility isn't new and is to be expected in such a young market,” added Ardoino. Bitcoin has been seeing massive gains over the past few months. Just last month in January 2021, Bitcoin reached $30,000 in value for the first time. In about a month’s time, the cryptocurrency is now trading above $50,000 at the time of writing this story. View the full article
  7. When it comes to fashion and style, if there's one celebrity who we have hardly seen experimenting with his style game, it's Salman Khan. Bhai hasn't tried a new silhouette or a trend for the longest time and yet, every time he makes an appearance, he never fails to grab our attention. While he sticks to basics, the only thing we have seen changing in his wardrobe or style, is the denims he wears. © Viral Bhayani From wearing pants bedecked with studs and zippers to standing out in bright, red pants, Salman's denims scream fashion. In times when most celebrities are experimenting with long or loose, baggy pants, Bhai still raises his fashion quotient, only by wearing the silhouettes that match his sartorial taste. 8. Despite being a madhouse, Bigg Boss still garners a lot of viewership, courtesy the contestants who participate in the show. Whether you follow the show or not, when it comes to Bigg Boss, it's hard to not know certain things about it. This season, besides the controversial arguments and constant wild card entries, another thing that surprised us was the fashion game of a few participants. From Aly Goni to Nishant Singh, we noticed these stars wearing some statement-worthy pieces. But out of the whole lot, if there's one person who made us go all 'wow' at his style, it has to be Eijaz Khan. © Viral Bhayani Though he left the show, leaving his fans dejected, his fashion game and the chemistry he shared with Pavitra Punia, still makes it all worthy. Now that he isn't a contestant anymore, he was seen with his rumoured beau Pavitra. This is probably the first time they have made an appearance together post their stint on the show. While the paps couldn't hold back from capturing their bond, our eyes went straight to the shoes that Eijaz was wearing. Take a look. © Nike As for the price, these sneakers originally cost around Rs 11,000 but the price has been reduced to almost Rs 6,000 right now. That seems to be a good deal, according to us. The fact that Eijaz is wearing such a pair, also proves that he is a low-key sneakerhead too. © Viral Bhayani According to reports, he had to leave the show due to the prior commitments but it is said that he will be stepping inside the Bigg Boss house again. The date hasn't been announced yet, but his fans are pretty excited. All we can say is if Eijaz is indeed a sneakerhead, he is doing an amazing job at it, already. Way to go. View the full article

  10. In another episode of this ‘happens only in India’, a couple decided to adopt a calf as their son after they were unable to conceive a child even after 15 years of their marriage. The couple named the calf as ‘Laltu baba’. Not only this, Vijaypal and Rajeshwari Devi also invited over 500 guests to the ‘mundan’ or head-shaving ritual for their son ‘Laltu Baba’. © Unsplash Calf The couple took the calf to Laaltu Ghat which is situated on the banks of Gomti river and performed the ceremony. After the pooja, the priest also gave blessings to the calf and its parents. Not only this, but a feast was also held where people from across the village arrived with gifts. Vijaypal told TOI, “I always treated Laltu as my son. The calf has been attached to us since its birth. Laltu's love for us is true and unconditional.” “We were surprised to see the 'mundan' invitation. A lot of people attended. We were all excited and happy for the couple and the calf,” said a local villager, Ratnesh Mishra. © Unsplash Calf Vijaypal lost his parents and felt very lonely in his home in Shahjahanpur. All his sisters who were younger than him also got married. He said that he was very close to the cow (Laltu’s mother) who was brought to the home by his father. So, when the cow passed away they decided to adopt the calf as his child. Vijaypal also said, "When we can accept a cow as our mother then why not its calf as a son.” View the full article
  11. The friends you make in school last for a lifetime, more often than not. Even after losing touch, the friendship is still there, and you know the right kind of people will be there for you whenever you need them. And, now, we have the perfect and most wholesome example of the power of friendship. When K Nagendran, a man from Tamil Nadu, reconnected with his school friend Muthukumar after three decades, he was heartbroken at seeing his friend's living condition. © Unsplash (Representational Image) Muthukumar, a 44-year-old truck driver, was one of the millions who was affected badly due to the pandemic. He went from making Rs 10,000-15,000 before lockdown to barely scraping by Rs 1,000-2,000 this year. He was living in a dilapidated hut that was on the verge of collapsing with multiple people in the house to feed. He said, "I am staying in the same house since I was born. I have been driving trucks to make ends meet, but lockdown reduced my income measly for the past six months. Trees around my house fell during Gaja cyclone two years ago and since then my house has been in a bad shape." © Unsplash (Representational Image) But when Muthukumar and K Nagendran met each other after a long time at their school teacher's house, the former invited the latter to his house. Nagendran was so hurt with seeing his friend's living conditions, he immediately started organizing funds through their TECL Higher Secondary School Pudukkottai friends WhatsApp group. According to New Indian Express,he said, "I met my friend almost 30 years after we finished school. I was distressed to see the condition of his house. Gaja cyclone had destroyed the trees around his house and the roof of his house. One needed to bend to even enter his house. I knew that I had to help him. I formed a Whatsapp group and sent photos and videos of his house. Many came forward to help him." © New Indian Express In just three months, he managed to build an entire house for his friend using the Rs. 1.5 lakh he managed to collect and the best part? The timing was so perfect that the house became a Diwali gift for Muthukumar! Lastly, Nagendran said, "Even though we weren’t in touch, school friends are special. We must all help our friends in need. Many have suffered during the lockdown. If you chance upon a friend who is in distress, please do something to help them out." © Unsplash(Representational Image) Never leave a friend behind, what a special friendship these guys have. Even after no contact, they were actively helping someone in need and changed someone's life for the better. Every single person deserves a friend like that, and if you already have someone like that in your life, it's time to show a little more appreciation for them. View the full article
  12. Siddhant Chaturvedi's fashion choices are unlike other B-town celebrities'. On one hand, we have actors who step out wearing eccentric, OTT outfits, and on the other hand, we have Siddhant, who has time and again made a statement in outfits that are relatable and super easy for us to cop. © Viral Bhayani His style is majorly driven towards athleisure silhouettes which he pairs in a unique manner. We have hardly seen other tinsel town actors try and nail such a trend. The same element is well implemented onto his shoes, as he tries and wears sneakers that are zany yet affordable. © Viral Bhayani The same happened in the latest instance when Siddhant was yet again spotted at the old Dharma office in a laid-back casual outfit. What makes it unique, you ask? Take a look at the sneakers that he is wearing and you would know what we are talking about. © Skechers Siddhant is seen wearing his all-time favourite brand Skechers. The shoes are called Stamina Airy Labak Beige Training Shoes. This classic pair is made with light and comfortable silhouette, with leather, synthetic and mesh fabric. Additionally, this pair has colour block overlay accents in unique, subtle hues. It also includes air-cooled memory foam insole, for a comfortable stride. © Skechers These sneakers can easily add to the dressed-down appeal of any outfit, with its contrasting tones. Coming to its price, well, these sneakers are probably a dream come true as they are available only for Rs 5,499. One can easily find it with several e-commerce brands, as this pair sells like hotcakes, to be honest. © Viral Bhayani As for the other details of his outfit, he is seen wearing a linen white shirt with a pair of washed grey denim. The outfit is super relaxed and basic and yet the sneakers here are adding more charm to the overall appeal of his look. © Viral Bhayani Siddhant has truly played the fashion cards right by making it obvious that you don't need to spend a truckload of money to buy fashionable things. Now that the Bollywood industry has started functioning at its full capacity, we can't wait for Siddhant to make more such appearances, wearing sneakers that we don't just have to dream about but can actually buy. 13. During the nationwide lockdown, owing to the COVID-19 global health scare, people stayed indoors, and in a way, most human activities including commercial businesses came to a standstill. This paved the way for nature to heal itself completely. Interestingly, animals were reclaiming their territories, endangered species were spotted again and rivers started to look clean and clear. According to The New Indian Express, the unfortunate condition of the river is due to the high phosphate content following the discharge of toxic industrial pollutants like detergent into the river. © WordsSlay Twitter “Earlier, during the days of coronavirus lockdown, Yamuna was clear but now it is covered with dirt. We are not able to breathe properly as air pollution is increasing day by day. The government is doing its own course but we as a citizen should also take steps to combat the situation. 15. It’s hardly been eight hours since the Sadak 2 trailer was released on YouTube. And it didn’t take long enough for the Indian audience to storm the For Star Hindi YouTube channel and turn the Sadak 2 trailer into the most disliked video on Youtube within hours! With more than two million dislikes on the video, the anger and resentment of the Indian audience has overpowered the paltry 134K likes on the trailer. The comments section is divided with half the people raging with comments in support of Sushant Singh Rajput and another half spitting fire against nepotism and star kids. Starring Alia Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapor and Sanjay Dutt, Sadak 2 was caught in the line of fire amid the nepotism debate raging in Bollywood following Sushant Singh Rajput’s sudden death. © Vishesh Films Angry fans and nepotism critics have taken to social media to openly announce that they have been waiting for the trailer to come out so that they can hit the dislike button and make their stance clear. 16. Period dramas or shows with fantastical elements are genres of Indian TV that have a bad reputation for lifting storylines from pop culture. While basing a character and seeking inspiration is a different story, reproducing it entirely with no tweaks at all is what makes an awkward rip-off. Then there is the artwork for shows that too sometimes can hold resemblance to popular segments in pop-culture. Here are 8 awkward rip-offs among countless others spotted on TV shows. 1. Har Mushkil Ka Hal: Akbar Birbal © IMDB The show followed Birbal, an advisor in the court of King Akbar, as he handles various tricky situations faced by his ruler using his sharp intellect and witty sense of humour. One of the actor's costumes in the show was entirely lifted from Jack Sparrow from the Pirates Of The Caribbean. 2. Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki © IMDB Ekta Kapoor's Kahaani Hamaaray Mahaabhaarat Ki was an adaptation of the Mahabharata, except a lot of the plotlines of the show were lifted. Even the costumes had taken inspiration from ancient Greece. The costumes were inspired from Gerard Butler's 300. 3. Roadies © IMDB Back when Raghu Ram was associated with MTV's Roadies, one of the promotional posters for a season looked too similar to Max Payne 3. 4. Baal Veer © IMDB In the fictional world of Baal Veer, more than one character was lifted to bring the series to life. One of the characters was heavily inspired by Ian McKellen's Magneto. One of the villains wore a costume which was an awkward rip-off of Magneto's suit. 5. Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani © IMDB The show's plot follows Pia as she joins a new college in Dehradun and soon, falls in love with Abhay. However, she is unaware of the fact that he is a vampire. The storyline and Abhay both will remind you of the Twilight series and Edward Cullen respectively in more ways than one. 6. Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat © IMDB Chakravartin Ashoka Samrat was a series about the life of Ashoka, the third emperor of the Mauryan empire. The series was more fictional with its timeline, introducing elements to the storyline that possibly could have never existed. The antagonist of this historical drama, Daastan, played by Rumi Khan had a strikingly similar appearance to Khal Drogo from Game Of Thrones. 7. C.I.D © IMDB CID is a tv drama that follows the lives of ACP Pradyuman, Daya and Abhijeet who work for the CID department. They seek the help of professional forensic expert Dr. Salunkhe and solve various criminal cases. While most episodes of the show are almost identical, with occasional appearances of seemingly scary villains. One of them turned out to be an awkward rip-off of DC's Joker. 8. Baal Veer © IMDB Baal Veer, the protagonist of the show is taken to a fairyland where he is blessed with special powers by six fairies, each with unique abilities. He uses his powers to help good and honest children, including his friends. Naturally, the show introduced witches in the show as villains. However, a lot was lifted from Disney. One of the witches, for instance, was an exact copy from Disney's witch in Snow White. View the full article
  17. Since its inception, Bollywood has allowed scores of aspiring actors to try their luck in front of the camera, and in turn given Hindi movie-lovers some invaluable artists. However, while many of those actors come out with all guns blazing and create a lot of buzz in their wake, they fail to keep the excitement up and eventually fizzle out. Here are 10 such Bollywood actors, who started out as great successes in the industry before their promising careers hit rock-bottom. 1. Rahul Roy © Vishesh Films The year 1990 saw a young man becoming an overnight star after Aashiqui hit the silver screens. The film became such a massive success, people had great hopes from its lead pair, especially Rahul Roy who had shown a lot of promise. However, he failed to keep up his good work in the following years, and soon faded out of memory. 2. Kumar Gaurav © Pinterest Much like Rahul Roy, Kumar Gaurav too touched the heights of glory with his debut movie Love Story. The film became a blockbuster and people pinned their hopes on this second generation star-in-the-making. However, none of Kumar Gauravâs following stints made an impact at the box office, and soon enough he vanished from the industry and turned into a businessman. 3. Imran Khan © Pinterest Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was such a perfect Bollywood debut for Imran, girls literally craved for a best friend (and more) like Rats! Yet, despite the filmâs tremendous success and Imran winning Filmfareâs Best Male Debut award, Imran failed to charm the audience once again. He worked with some pretty big names in the industry, but failed to keep up and eventually ran out of work. 4. Dino Morea © imdb People remembered this supermodel turned actor from his appearance on the TV show Captain Vyom. And while Dinoâs debut film Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi wasnât a huge success, Dinoâs moment of glory finally came with Raaz. But even that remained an one-off good luck. Despite trying his hands in various movie genres, Dino couldnât impress the audience and soon disappeared from the limelight. 5. Govinda © Quora Once a mega-star of his time, nobody had seen Govindaâs downfall coming. He worked hard to keep up with the changing times, but fell short every time. At one point it was reported that the former hit maker was going through a major financial crisis and was struggling to get by. From starting his own production company to acting in B-grade films, Govinda did it all until he disappeared. 6. Aftab Shivdasani © Facebook Aftab Shivdasani Another promising newcomer movie-lovers had high hopes from was actor Aftab. His debut film Mast turned out to be such a popular film, people expected Aftab to reach great heights. However, he couldnât land any successful lead roles, and ended up starring in multi-starrer films. Yet, despite trying to stay in the limelight, the audience doesnât really care about him anymore. 7. Priyanshu Chatterjee © T-Series This one probably broke a million hearts because following the massive response Priyanshu received for his debut in Tum Bin people swore the actor was meant for great things. However, although he landed a few good movies over time, no other film had a similar impact on the audience. Although still active in the movie industry, Priyanshu couldnât cash in on his initial success to its fullest potential. 8. Kunal Kapoor © BCCL Despite a supporting role in Rang De Basanti, Kunal Kapoor caught a lot of peopleâs attention. Aslam was such a believable character; the audience took to him instantly. Many waited to see what more this convincing actor would offer in the future. But unfortunately, Kunal fell short of peopleâs expectations and couldnât really make a mark as a lead actor. Although he did a few decent roles as a supporting actor, thatâs all the success he has seen in his career so far. 9. Shiney Ahuja © imdb When Shiney made his 2003 debut with Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi, it earned him Filmfareâs Best Male Debut award. And although he went on to do a number of films in the future; none was as impactful as his debut, barring a few films such as Life In A Metro and Bhool Bhulaiyaa. And well, the rest of his Bollywood plans were laid to rest after he was convicted in a rape case. 10. Shreyas Talpade © Wikipedia Although he started out as a Marathi TV actor, Shreyasâ Bollywood moment came with Iqbal. The movie was a critical and commercial hit, and established Shreyas as an actor to watch out for. Although he followed it up with films like Dor, Om Shanti Om, Golmaal Returns and the like, he messed up his chances by opting for some pretty shitty movies. Not only did that compromise his credibility as an actor, but also took away the glory he could have bagged. Do you have a favourite of your own on this list? Let us know how you felt when they didnât live up to their potential. View the full article
  18. The coronavirus outbreak and lockdown has made us witness a number of incidents we may not have thought possible in the pre-COVID world. From wild beasts roaming the city streets to people thrashing doctors and nurses for trying to keep them safe, and the poor stepping up to fund coronavirus relief work, we have seen the best and worst of it all. © Pexels (Representative Image) However, it seems thereâs a lot more for us to see yet, just like the peculiar case of this Tamil Nadu man named Prashant. The 30-year-old man is creating quite a buzz online for being a âconsiderateâ thief who returned a stolen bike to its owner via courier. So here is the complete story. On 18th May, Prashant, who works at a bakery in Coimbatore, stole Suresh Kumarâs bike parked nearby his lathe workshop in Kannampalayam Pirivu area in Coimbatore. Prashantâs reason for stealing the bike was simple; he wished to go back to his hometown in the nearby district of Tiruvarur and needed a ride. Suresh Kumarâs parked bike served the purpose. © Pexels When Kumar found out that his bike was missing, he went to the police station to file an FIR. However, he was told that investigation of the matter will only be taken up after the lockdown is revoked. In the meantime, Kumar made use of CCTV footage from around the area to trace the identity of Prashant. Realising the owner is trying to track him and fearing legal action against himself, Prashant decided to send the bike back via courier service, using the details he found on the bikeâs Registration Certificate. © Pexels Thatâs how Kumar ended up getting a call from the courier office yesterday that his bike was ready to be delivered. Given that his bike was returned to him in good condition, Suresh told the media that he will not take any legal action against Prashant. Talk about being a thief with a conscience, right? 19. There are two things Indians swear by - cricket and Bollywood. With each enjoying its dedicated fandom, followers often find common ground through sports dramas or biopics. But what happens when cricket and entertainment overlap in real-life? 20. The pandemic has made the privileged generous and a lot of people have come forward to help the needy. While all of us continue to stay in lockdown, our brave cops brave the virus and the heat as they guard the country ensuring we stay safe. These real heroes also need some protection and relief from whatever is going on in the world. As a gesture of gratitude, the Producers Guild of India has decided to donate fully equipped tents and Bollywood starâs vanity vans to the police personnel. The name of the initiative is âMission Surakshaâ. © BCCL The vanity vans will be provided to the female cops and will be available across 22 locations in Mumbai to make things easier for our police force in the scorching heat. A statement released by the Guild says, "We are delighted to launch ''Mission Suraksha'' to protect our caretakers, especially women cops on âbandobastâ duty. Fully equipped tents and vanity vans used by cine stars have been provided across 22 key locations as restrooms for break-time.â Recently, many Bollywood stars took to their social media to express how grateful they were to the Mumbai Police for their efforts amid the on-going lockdown. This move can turn out to be wonderful for our female cops who can take a break from duty and rest in these vanity vans. © BCCL After all, what are we without them? The frontline workers are the real warriors during the lockdown. Even before the lockdown was announced the Guild had announced a relief fund for the daily wage earners so that it becomes easier for them to sustain the Coronavirus outbreak. Reportedly, they helped the daily wage earners of the film fraternity by direct bank transfers into their accounts. © YouTube The Coronavirus has crossed the 15000 mark in India, so far and the virus has claimed around 480 lives. The death toll is dismally increasing and it calls for people to come forward and help the ones in need. View the full article
  21. Letâs be frank here, guys. Given tough circumstances, itâs pretty natural for us to split a pitcher with the lads and maybe down a solitary scotch (or three). Yet for most people stuck behind closed doors during the lockdown, alcohol remains a faraway fantasy, trapped behind locked liquor stores and barricaded bars and restaurants. If only there was a way⦠Unless youâve got the conscience and sobriety of an angel, you might have wondered, just out of curiosity, of course... how hard is it to break into a liquor store, anyway? Fortunately for us rascals, a bunch of people decided to find out first hand. Quite a few bunches, actually. Devoid of booze, several Indians across the nation have broken into liquor stores and made off with dizzying amounts of bootlegger booty - lakh upon lakh worth of rum, vodka and whiskey have been âredistributedâ and left cops and shop owners stunned and furious. Perhaps even more astounding is that many of these thefts have been just for liquor - the crooks left cash registers untouched in several cases, according to police. Here are a few of the most ridiculous liquor thefts to have hit India since the lockdown began - just donât get too inspired: 1. Mandya, Karnataka © Wikimedia High Score: Rs. 5 Lakh You heard that right - just to put things into perspective, 5 Lakh can get you somewhere in the ballpark of one thousand, two hundred and fifty bottles of Old Monk. Let that sink in. During this fateful night in early April, three stores were robbed in Karnatakaâs âSugar Cityâ - two of which were looted by the same group, according to local police. Apparently the thieves broke in by cutting open the shopâs window grills. A delegation of Mandyaâs liquor store owners soon approached top officials with a simple request - either provide security or lift the ban ASAP. 2. Narasaraopet, Andhra Pradesh © Wikimedia High Score: Rs. 4.9 Lakh While verifying CCTV footage after this shop was broken into on the 9th of April, officials found that store supervisor G. Prasant, watchman Yakob & Excise Dept. constable Satyanarayana were involved in the theft - making this a thorough inside job. While the masterminds remain at large, police have managed to recover 3.5 lakh in cash from the already-nabbed guilty parties involved. 3. Hosahalli, Karnataka © Cultural Trip High Score: Rs. 4.18 Lakh Situated a couple of hours away from Bengaluru, this scenic riverside town famous for betel nut farms, ancient temples and Vedic Hindu temples, recently made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Local liquor store owner K.G. Vijay Kumar was devastated earlier this week when booze burglars cracked open his shopâs shutters and made off with 25 cartons full of various kinds of liquor in both bottles and tetra packs. Upon police investigation, cops discovered that not only was a huge amount of alcohol missing - the thieves even covered their tracks by making off with both CCTV cameras and the camera receiver unit. 4. Bellary, Karnataka © Indian Rail High Score: Rs. 35,000 Youâve probably noticed a pattern by now - as a Kannadiga myself, this is hardly surprising. While the Bellary burglary wasnât as high-yield as some of the others on this list, its perpetrators deserve a âspecial mentionâ because of their sheer audacity - instead of hitting a liquor store like normal criminals, these crooks broke into a government excise office where seized bootlegger liquor was stored. Adding insult to injury, this theft was committed at the perfect time too - April Fools Day. 5. Gandhi Nagar, Hyderabad © DX News High Score: Rs. 34,000 Weâve heard of lockpicking and breaking in through windows - but this crook was really thinking out of the box. According to the CCTV footage, our thief drilled a hole through the shopâs false ceiling, and seemingly used gloves, throwing the police off-track by not leaving behind any fingerprints. After breaking in, the culprit made off with Rs 26,000 worth of alcohol, along with Rs 8,000 in cash. Despicable. While weâre in awe and shock at the level of tenacity these criminals displayed at getting their fix, itâs representative of a serious problem with alcohol in the nation. Apart from these states, similar crimes have been reported from Mumbai to Haryana and Delhi - making the lives of police officers harder than theyâve already been given the lockdown situation. Police forces have been asked to take up extra patrol, especially in localities with wine shops. âItâs no surprise that when whole city centres are deserted, thieves are moving on from residential areas to unoccupied commercial properties. We have not been able to focus much on this aspect since the force is already stretched,â said a senior police officer in Bengaluru to The Times of India. Hopefully, weâll be back to normal soon. 22. The world is seeing the good side of people amidst the current Coronavirus pandemic and Bollywood celebrities are the torchbearers for such initiatives. From Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan to Shah Rukh Khan, most celebrities are doing their bit by making donations or providing aid to the needy in these tough times. Joining the list is actor Sonu Sood, who recently opened the doors of his Mumbai Hotel to the medical staff selflessly fighting the pandemic. View this post on Instagramð ð¯#9baje9minuteA post shared by (@sonu_sood)Talking to TOI, Sonu said, âItâs my honour to be able to do my bit for the doctors, nurses and para-medical staff of our country, who have been working day and night to save peopleâs lives. They hail from different parts of Mumbai and need a place to rest. We have already approached municipal and private hospitals and informed them about the facility.â Last year, the same hotel had landed Sonu in a lot of trouble, when the BMC found out that he was running a residential hotel despite not having clearances from the civic body. A BMC official said, âWe have still not received an amended proposal for the property following our remarks on the initial proposal.â View this post on InstagramðA post shared by (@sonu_sood) Earlier, SRK also offered his four-storey office space in Mumbai to the BMC as a quarantine facility. Not only this, actor Salman Khan also joined the bandwagon by pledging to financially support 25,000 daily wage workers who have been hit by the 21-day lockdown. According to reports, he has already begun the process of transferring money into the bank accounts of daily wage workers from the film fraternity. © BCCL While everyone is making the effort to support the needy at this hour, the Coronavirus cases in India are still dismally increasing and have reached 5734 cases, so far, and have claimed over 166 lives. It is currently not clear how many ventilators are on offer and how the company plans to prioritise which hospital needs it most. Previously, Musk promised to give hundreds of ventilators to hospitals in New York City which happens to be badly hit by the outbreak in the United States. We have extra FDA-approved ventilators. Will ship to hospitals worldwide within Tesla delivery regions. Device & shipping cost are free. Only requirement is that the vents are needed immediately for patients, not stored in a warehouse. Please me or @Tesla know. â Elon Musk (@elonmusk) March 31, 2020 There have been more than 8,25,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 around the world and has resulted in more than 40,000 confirmed deaths. 24. The dismally increasing coronavirus cases across the globe have crippled global economy bringing lives of people to a standstill. This is the first time in the history of mankind something of this level has happened. In the wake of this global pandemic, many countries including India have imposed a country-wide lockdown to contain the spread of this deadly virus. Consequently, many people who earn wages on a daily basis have been left in the lurch. In such testing times, humanity and kindness are the qualities that help us get through life and this tough time. Turns out that humanity continues to stay alive despite what happens and proving this is an instance that occurred in Florida recently. according to a report in HT , an unknown customer left a tip of 10,000 USD (Rs. 7.5 lakh approx) at a restaurant called Skillets in Florida to be distributed amongst its staff members. What a kind soul! He did this in a bid to help staff members make their ends meet until the lockdown is lifted. This incident happened just a day before the state mayor asked all restaurants to shut down. © Yelp The owner of the restaurant revealed that the customer handed the money in cash to the manager of the restaurant, asking him to distribute it evenly amongst the staff members. There were a total of 20 employees working at Skillets and they all received 500 USD (Rs. 37,500 approx) each. According to NBC, the owner spoke about the gentle customer and said, âWe have regulars who have been coming in forever, and theyâre our friends but we donât always know their names. We know their faces, their orders, their favourite tables, but we donât know exactly who they are.â Turns out, this one customer isnât the only one who surprised them with his kindness. The owner of Skillets also revealed that many servers received big tips from other customers in the past few weeks. Owing to the current coronavirus crisis, the restaurant unfortunately has been forced to lay off 90 percent of its employees due to lack of funds. All restaurants were asked to close down. Itâs because of instances like these that people still believe in humanity, kindness and compassion. Kudos to all those people who are helping each other in the time of crisis. View the full article
