  1. On February 14, when most people were celebrating the day of love i.e. Valentine's Day with their respective partners, some families were weeping and mourning the death of their loved ones, who were in the Central Reserve Police Force. The nation has not forgotten their death and never will, and in order to salute their courage and bravery our Bollywood actors recently took out time to pay tribute to the martyrs. AP In memory of the bravehearts, actors Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor recently paid a soulful tribute, called 'Tu Desh Mera'. The official Twitter account of CRPF posted their BTS pictures on social media and thanked them for their tribute. CRPF wrote, "Commendable work has been done by @SrBachchan, @aamir_khan and #RanbirKapoor for the tribute song #TuDeshMera dedicated to the Martyrs of Pulwama. We would like to thank you all for showing your support towards the Martyrs." Commendable work has been done by @SrBachchan, @aamir_khan and #RanbirKapoor for the tribute song #TuDeshMera dedicated to the Martyrs of Pulwama. We would like to thank you all for showing your support towards the Martyrs. pic.twitter.com/sw6MpDP05b — ð®ð³CRPFð®ð³ (@crpfindia) April 18, 2019 Almost two months ago, over 40 CRPF jawans were martyred in Pulwama, when an SUV laden with explosives rammed into the convoy carrying the jawans, in one of the worst terrorist attacks ever in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. Post that, things have worsened between India and Pakistan with reports of attacks coming almost every other day.
  2. The biggest festival of India aka the IPL 2019 starts today, with two of the strongest teams playing against each other - Chennai Super Kings (RCB) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Honestly, there couldn't have been a better way to kick-start the 12th season of the Indian Premier League, than pitting Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni against each other. The ground at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium is gearing up to witness an epic match, as every cricket fan is now sitting in front of their TV waiting with bated breath for the clock to strike 8 PM, and people are gearing up to fill the stadium with chants of 'Chickoo' and 'Mahi'. Twitter However, one of the most attractive events of IPL i.e. the glittering opening ceremony will not be happening this year. In the wake of the Pulwama terror attack, where the nation lost more than 40 CRPF bravehearts, the BCCI has decided to pay them a tribute. There won't be an opening ceremony this time, instead, a military band will perform at the stadium ahead of the first T20 match. In fact, the money budgeted for the ceremony will go to the families of the martyrs. Twitter According to the Indian Express, an official close to BCCI said "It's about a 15 to 20-minute show which will happen. The band will perform just before the felicitation happens. The toss is being advanced by 10 mins." The official further added, "the game will begin at 8 pm and toss will be at 7:30. From 7:20 to 7:30 the Madras Regiment band will perform for the audience." Twitter Reportedly, the Madras Regiment Band based out of Chennai will be performing at the stadium before the felicitation programme for the Indian Armed Forces. The BCCI will also contribute Rs. 20 crore for the welfare of the Armed Forces. The captains of the 8 IPL teams have, in fact, pre-recorded a video message for the performance.
  3. The nation lost over 40 bravehearts last month, when a JeM suicide bomber rammed explosives-laden car into a CRPF bus in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. People haven't forgotten that terrorist attack, nor will they ever. Post Pulwama, people from across the world are coming together to wipe tears of the family members of the martyred jawans. © Reuters The country was painted red last month with blood, and now when the festival of colours is here, the CRPF has decided that there will be no 'official celebrations' of Holi this year in the force, to pay respect to the jawans martyred in Pulwama. CRPF Director General (DG) RR Bhatnagar, said this during an event to mark the 80th raising day of the force in Gurgaon. © Reuters Reportedly, the DG also said that in order to better equip the troops during a combat, they are obtaining advanced weapons and gadgets that include Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), light bullet proof jackets, rifles, ground penetrating radars and signal jammers gunshot locators. In fact, while paying tribute to the personnel who lost their lives, the CRPF chief also said that the force is creating a 'mobile app' to provide help to the families of martyred jawans.
  4. It has been less than a month since the unfortunate terror attack backed by the terrorist group, Jaish-e-Mohammed, enraged the entire nation as it claimed the lives of more than 40 brave CRPF jawans in the most gruesome manner with their children orphaned and their wives widowed in an instant. The whole country has been in mourning and have been trying to show their love and respect for the brave soldiers and their families however they can. The Indian cricket team did their best to do the same last week when former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni distributed camouflage caps with the symbol of Indian cricket at the centre, ahead of the third ODI against Australia in his hometown of Ranchi. The Men in Blue donned the unusual-looking caps the entire game in order to honour the martyrs of the infamous attack. #TeamIndia will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs #JaiHind pic.twitter.com/fvFxHG20vi — BCCI (@BCCI) March 8, 2019 "#TeamIndia will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces. And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs #JaiHind," the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) tweeted ahead of the match. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board strongly feels these actions taken by MSD and the BCCI are wrong and have led to a loss of credibility in the cricketing world. PCB chairman Ehsan Mani said he has "strongly taken up the matter with the ICC." "There's absolutely no misunderstanding in the ICC about our position," Mani said in a press conference last weekend in Karachi. "We believe that cricket and sports should not be used for politics and we have said this very clearly. Their [India] credibility in the cricketing world has gone down very badly." That's not all as the Pakistan Information ministry, held by Fawad Chaudhry, even urged the International Cricket Council to ban BCCI and the Men in Blue from international cricket for combining sports and politics. As a response to the bold statements by the PCB, ICC spokesperson Claire Furlong let The Associated Press know about their stand on the whole issue via email. "The BCCI sought permission from the ICC to wear the caps as part of a fundraising drive and in memory of fallen soldiers who have died, which was granted," she wrote. Now, we agree that sports and politics should be kept miles away from each other. Over the years there have been numerous incidents where politicising a game or an athletic meet has led to adverse results for the sporting world. But the BCCI's idea to pay homage to the nation's brave soldiers cannot be deemed as politically motivated. Athletes wearing camouflage caps is in no way trying to demean or insult the cricketers of our neighbours, nor were we trying to get some kind of upper hand in the international scenario against the PCB.
  5. Arguably one of the most iconic sportspersons in the country, Mahendra Singh Dhoni continues to aid the Indian cricket team in the multiple roles assigned to him over the years. His leadership skills allowed Team India to scale new heights. Dhoni's lightning quick glovework has spelt doom for the opposition batsmen. And, his know-how of the game enables him to still make field placements and guide bowlers despite stepping down as Indian captain. While his cricketing skills have enthralled fans over the years, Dhoni's admiration and respect for Indian armed forces have also struck a chord with everyone. That probably explains why the Indian Territorial Army conferred the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Dhoni in 2011. The Jharkhand cricketer's personal connect with the jawans once again came to the fore when he was seen distributing camouflage caps to his Indian teammates ahead of the 3rd One-Day International (ODI) against Australia in Ranchi on 8th March. In a bid to pay homage to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) martyrs who lost their lives in the dastardly attack in Pulwama on 14th February, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to allow the Indian cricketers to don the camouflage caps for today's ODI clash at the JSCA International Stadium. #TeamIndia will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs #JaiHind pic.twitter.com/fvFxHG20vi — BCCI (@BCCI) March 8, 2019 In a brief video shared by the BCCI on Twitter, the former Indian captain was seen distributing the camouflage caps to his teammates. "#TeamIndia will be sporting camouflage caps today as mark of tribute to the loss of lives in Pulwama terror attack and the armed forces. And to encourage countrymen to donate to the National Defence Fund for taking care of the education of the dependents of the martyrs #JaiHind," the Indian cricket board tweeted. To pay homage to the martyrs of Pulwama Terror Attack, the players will donate today's match fee to the National Defence Fund #JaiHind pic.twitter.com/vM9U16M8DQ — BCCI (@BCCI) March 8, 2019 On the other hand, the Indian cricket fans residing in Ranchi were also geared to welcome Dhoni home. While many continue to speculate that today's clash might be the last game for Dhoni in his hometown, for now, the 37-year-old seems eager to entertain the Ranchi crowd who are busy chanting his name from the stands. The Indian cricket team has already taken a crucial 2-0 lead in the five-match series and going into today's clash, Virat Kohli's men will be eager to seal the contest and extend Australia's misery with a win.
  6. India was shaken to its core on February 14, 2019, when a JeM suicide bomber rammed his car into a CRPF bus and killed over 40 jawans, in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. The whole nation mourned the loss and wept for the martyred jawans, but also came forward in large numbers to do whatever it takes to show that they stand strong with the jawans' families. © AP In another moving gesture, a 44-year-old blind scientist has now offered to donate Rs. 110 crores for the welfare of the martyred jawans' families. Murtaza A. Hamid, who hails from Kota and is currently based in Mumbai, has offered to give Rs. 110 crore from his taxable income to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. Reportedly, Hamid has even sent an e-mail to PMO seeking an appointment with PM Modi for the same. © Instagram "The inspiration to help and support those who lay down their lives for our motherland should be in the blood of every citizen of the country," said Hamid, who is blind since birth. Hamid is currently working as a researcher and scientist in Mumbai. In fact, Hamid regrets that his innovation wasn't recognised timely by the government, else tragic incidents like Pulwama attack could have been averted. © BCCL According to a report in The Times of India, Hamid claims that he created 'Fuel Burn Radiation Technology' which helps to trace and locate any vehicle or object without GPS, camera or any other technical equipment. He forwarded the proposal to hand it over to the government and National Highways Authority of India free of cost, in 2016 but he got the approval in 2018. From celebrities to commoners, everyone has been raising funds for the Pulwama martyrs' families. Be it through Bharat Ke Veer, donating their salaries to cancelling their wedding reception to donate money; people have proved to be like a big family, who have each others' back. 7. From coming to the rescue of a financially struggling acid attack survivor to starting the initiative 'Bharat Ke Veer' along with the Government of India, Akshay Kumar is a hero in real life too, who has never backed down from going that extra mile for the society, and the bravehearts and their families. © Instagram Now, Akshay Kumar has donated Rs. 15 lakh to Sundari Devi, wife of Jeet Ram Gurjar. Gurjar was one of the CRPF jawans martyred in the Pulwama terror attack on 14th February. CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) DIG Jagdish Narayan Meena revealed the news of his donation. Jeet Ram Gurjar hailed from a village in Bharatpur and was the sole earning member in his family. His younger brother, Vikram Singh, thanked Kumar for his gesture at a time when they needed it the most, as they are financially very weak. He further mentioned that his parents along with Gurjar's wife and two daughters were also dependent on him. Reportedly, the amount was transferred under 'Bharat Ke Veer'. In this initiative, one can help the families financially, by donating either using the app or the website bharatkeveer.gov.in. Earlier, it was reported that Akshay has vowed to donate Rs. 5 crore to the families of Pulwama martyrs, via 'Bharat Ke Veer'. He urged his fans to also step forward and help, and wrote on social media that "Pulwama is something we cannot forget and will not forget." #Pulwama is something we cannot & will not forget. We're all angry & it's time to act. 8. The pain that the Pulwama terror attack brought on for the entire nation less than two weeks ago on 14th February, left a gaping wound in our hearts, and more so in the lives of all the families who lost a son, husband or brother. The families of the martyred soldiers have just started to pick up the pieces of the life that they once knew, and people from across the country are helping them to make their lives a little easier and better in any way they can. the number of the martyr has gone up to 49 .. i am contributing for now 50 .. thats 2.5 cr — Amitabh Bachchan (@SrBachchan) February 16, 2019 From sports stars to Bollywood film actors and other prominent Indian personalities, everybody has stepped in to help the martyrs' families, not only in spirit but financially too. From Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan to Shikhar Dhawan and Mohammed Shami, many others have come forward to provide financial help to the martyred soldiers' families. The most recent name to get added to that list is that of the melody queen of India- Lata Mangeshkar. The veteran singer took to Twitter post the Pulwama attack to express her grief: à¤à¤®à¥à¤®à¥-à¤à¤¶à¥à¤®à¥à¤° à¤à¥ पà¥à¤²à¤µà¤¾à¤®à¤¾ मà¥à¤ हà¥à¤ à¤à¤¤à¤à¤à¥ हमलॠà¤à¥ मà¥à¤ à¤à¤¡à¤¼à¥ निà¤à¤¦à¤¾ à¤à¤°à¤¤à¥ हà¥à¤. à¤à¤¸ हमलॠमà¥à¤ à¤à¥ हमारॠवà¥à¤° à¤à¤µà¤¾à¤¨ शहà¥à¤¦ हà¥à¤ हॠà¤à¤¨à¤à¥ मà¥à¤ शà¥à¤°à¤¦à¥à¤§à¤¾à¤à¤à¤²à¥ à¤à¤°à¥à¤ªà¤¿à¤¤ à¤à¤°à¤¤à¥ हà¥à¤. à¤à¤¨ सभॠवà¥à¤°à¥à¤ à¤à¥ परिवारà¥à¤ à¤à¥ दà¥à¤à¤ मà¥à¤ मà¥à¤ शामिल हà¥à¤. — Lata Mangeshkar (@mangeshkarlata) February 15, 2019 She recently announced that she will be donating Rupees 1 crore for the welfare of the Indian soldiers. That is not all, even the Dinanath Mangeshkar Pratisthan shall be donating 5 lakh rupees to the Indian Army for the welfare of the soldiers who selflessly serve our nation. Speaking to the Maharashtra Times regarding the same, the singer shared that, "many people in the industry always help soldiers who sacrifice their lives for the nation. Even now, people from the industry are helping out. We have also announced something from our end." © Twitter The entire nation is aware of the love and respect Lata Mangeshkar holds for our armed forces. Once, on the occasion of her birthday, she had urged her fans and well-wishers to refrain from spending money on her gifts, and spend that money on our jawans instead.

The groom, while heading to his wedding, stopped his baraat midway and got down from his horse, to salute the funeral procession of martyr Ajay Kumar. The picture was shared by Harsh Goenka, Chairman of the RPG Group, who posted the picture on social media which has since gone viral. He wrote, "Meerut's bridegroom dismounts his horse and the baraat stops to salute the funeral procession of Martyr Ajay Kumar. We too salute our martyrs. We will not let their sacrifice go waste." 10. What started out as a democratic debate on live TV for Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) professor Madhumita Ray, soon turned into a war of words and might, when she went on national television to say that India should opt for peace and not war when it comes to dealing with Pakistan, post the deadly Pulwama terror attack. Following the debate on Kanak News on 18th February, which also featured Colonel Purna Chandra Patnaik (retd.) of the Indian Army, where she urged that India shouldn't resort to war against Pakistan post the Pulwama attack, the Development Theory & Practice and Sociology professor at KIIT was asked to hand in her resignation. (c) KIIT/LinkedIN Social media erupted after the programme was aired and under the pressure of public scrutiny and wrath, the KIIT management asked Madhumita to quit. “On February 20, I was ordered by the management to resign and leave the university within 24 hours. I did so on the next day.” Madhumita told Odisha Sun Times. However, KIIT has said that public complaints led to this action against Madhumita. However, regardless of what her statement brings her way, Madhumita has stood by her words and beliefs. She told Odisha Sun Times, “I feel what I said is right and stand by my words. War is not at all a solution.” We believe that Madhumita's comment should have been received with graciousness and a liberal approach, expected of a democratic nation where every individual is allowed to keep their point and express their personal opinions, just like how others who disagree with a said opinion are allowed to express their dissent. I know Madhumita Ray too, & I hope better sense prevails in Kalinga Institute. https://t.co/QEeVbbA86E — arkajasingh (@arkajasingh) February 26, 2019 At a time when hate and intolerance come easy, we need to look for ways that ensure that innocent lives are not treated as collateral damage, when it comes to dealing with matters of border security and geographies, as far as possible. But to take away someone's means of livelihood for sharing their opinion, and one that is rooted in experience and concern, is unjust and unfortunate. Considering that Madhumita wasn't even given a notice period goes on to show that KIIT has not just been unethical, but also unprofessional in handling the matter.
  11. The tragic deaths of around 40 CRPF personnel in the Pulwama terror attack, have become a part of almost every conversation in the country right now, and has also evoked a strong reaction from the Indian sports community. The likes of Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag recently claimed to take full responsibility for the martyrs' children's education and well being, while many others have expressed solidarity in other ways. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is the next person to jump on this bandwagon and do his bit. © AP The legendary Indian batsman joined thousands of runners in the IDBI Federal Life Insurance New Delhi Marathon on Sunday, in order to raise funds for the family members of the martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack. Right before all the four flag-offs at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Tendulkar went on to accomplish 10 push-ups as part of the #KeepMoving Push-up Challenge and urged the runners to join him in the exercise. Today, we made a difference & all it took was 10 push-ups. It will be donated to the families of the martyrs. I am sure you understand the feelings and hope everyone joins us in this movement,” Tendulkar said on the occasion. Thousands of runners took part in the four races — 42.195km long full marathon (2000), 21.095km half marathon (6000), timed 10km (5500)run and 5km Swachh Bharat Run (4500). “The whole dream is to transform India from a sports-loving nation into a sport playing nation for a healthy active lifestyle. And if children are starting from here, things are going to be better and better,” added the top run-getter in cricket history. © AP “So, well done Delhi, keep up your energy to run in the marathon. It is fantastic that you all are here with so much enthusiasm and energy.” This gesture by the Master Blaster helped the event in raising 15 lakh for the families of the martyrs. 12. Post the deadly Pulwama terror attack, the entire country is left in a state of horror and shock. Over 40 CRPF personnel lost their lives and we're still trying to put the pieces together, all across the country, not sure if they'll fit anymore. But an international humanitarian organisation by the name of 'Khalsa Aid' and some local Gurudwaras and individual Sikhs helped the Kashmiri population who were trying to escape vigilante mob attacks all across the country and we know for sure there is still some faith left in humanity. © Twitter The organisation gave protection, food and shelter to many stranded Kashmiris and helped them reach back safe to their homes in Kashmir. The violence erupted all over North India where many Kahsmiri students were being attacked in retaliation to the attack on the 14th of February and with the help of Khalsa Aid, they've all made it back home safe. © Twitter As a mark of gratitude and in order to thank the Sikh communities, the Kashmiris have now expressed their love for the Sikhs for helping them out in times of need and have offered free services to the Sikhs, namely medical treatments and education and free snow bike rides in Gulmarg. © Twitter So much so, a cartoon caricatured by a Kashmiri cartoonist by the name of Suhail Naqshbandi has gone viral on social media. 13. Since the devastating Kerala floods, the Pulwama attack in Jammu & Kashmir exactly a week ago has been the second incident of national importance that has managed to bring the entire country together. Regardless of one's class, creed or gender, people from all walks of life have come together to honour the martyrs and stand in support of their families. However, some people truly deserve a special mention during such a time for their selfless actions. An elderly woman beggar who breathed her last in 2018 happens to be one such individual who made a notable monetary contribution to the funds being collected for the Pulwama martyrs' families. © Twitter The late beggar named Nandini Sharma had collected a sum amounting to 6.61 lakh rupees over the years, which was a result of her regular cash deposits at the bank. Nandini had nominated two trustees to safeguard her account upon her death, and left behind a will stating that her savings be used for the society's welfare, according to a TOI report . Nandini used to beg outside the Ambe Mata Temple at Bajrangarh in Ajmer, and made it a habit to deposit a little sum every other day. The trustees who had been waiting for a good time to put Nandini's savings to good use since her death in August last year, decided to donate it for the welfare of the Pulwama martyrs' families. © Reuters Ajmer collector Vishwa Mohan Sharma told TOI, “the trustees came to the district administration office on Wednesday and expressed their desire to donate money to the chief minister relief fund for the attack victims. The legal cell completed the formalities following which, the amount was accepted and a certificate was issued to them.” One of Nandini's trustees, Sandeep Gaur told TOI that, “despite the fact that her savings came from begging, she wanted it to be of some use to the country and hence, we considered it best to be used for the kin of the CRPF jawans killed in the Pulwama attack.” © Twitter Regulars at the Ambe Mata Temple were so moved by the news of Nandini's goodwill that they have been holding special prayers for Nandini's soul. Even when she didn't have much, she saved for the welfare of others, and today her savings have been put to best use just as she had desired. We hope Nandini rests in peace, knowing her last wish has been fulfilled.
  14. The Pulwama attack has shaken the country, and pulled a few raw strings that should not have been meddled with. Kashmir is a sensitive issue for the Indian subcontinent, merely because we consider it a part of us and one of our own. While some notorious elements continuously try to turn the youth of the valley against their own brethren, and often succeed in brainwashing them into believing otherwise, the mutual sense of belonging-ness and unity continues to blow strong in the valleys. © Facebook In a show of solidarity and love for the nation, its people and the armed forces, over 2,500 young men from Jammu & Kashmir turned up for army recruitment drive in Baramulla. An official spoke to ANI and said that, thousands of young Kashmiri boys turned up to serve their nation, for recruitment for 111 vacant posts in the Indian Army. Apart from earning a livelihood and protecting their families, these hopeful young men also told ANI that getting hired would also give them the opportunities to share their side of the story with the rest of the country, raise awareness and sensitise fellow Indians about the crisis in the Kashmir valley. © ANI "We cannot go outside Kashmir. This is a great opportunity for us. We wish that more vacancies are offered to us. If Kashmiri personnel will be deployed in the sensitive areas then they can talk to the people and deal with the ongoing crisis", an aspiring candidate was quoted as saying to ANI. Economic Survey 2017 stated "unsupportive administrative and regulatory framework and lack of transparency" as the main reason behind this state of unemployment.
  15. On 14th February, when the world was busy celebrating love, India and its citizens were pushed into a state of mourning. A sinister plan by Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) saw a 20-year-old suicide bomber ramming his explosive-laden SUV into a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy that robbed India of more than 40 brave soldiers and injured others. Since then, the ghastly terror strike has become the topic of great discussion in the country that recently witnessed the tearful last rites of the Pulwama attack martyrs. While many have suggested adequate action and revenge from the Indian government, others have joined hands to aid the grieving families of the slained soldiers. © AP There is anger and a lot of frustration amongst the Indian citizens. And, the mindset of Indian boxers was no different when they travelled to Sofia in Bulgaria for the Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament. Their nation was grieving and the boxers didn't know any other way to cheer the citizens, but make India proud through medal-winning performances. India finished the tournament with seven medals - three gold, a silver and three bronze medals - in Sofia. Amongst the medal winners, Nikhat Zareen, Meena Kumari Devi and Amit Pangal bagged top honours at one of Europe's oldest boxing tournaments. While Nikhat dedicated her gold medal (in women's 51kg category) to the CRPF martyrs, Amit got emotional as he honoured the Indian bravehearts with a spectacular performance. © Twitter Amit, a Naib Subedar in the Indian Army, said that the Pulwama attack was on his mind through the tournament. "It hurt a little bit more because I belong to the armed forces. I was desperate for a medal because I wanted to dedicate it to the heroes who lost their lives in Pulwama," Amit was quoted as saying by TOI. "This was my mindset the moment I got to know of the attack after landing here. I was in touch with my family members during the tournament and they also told me that I had to win a medal in honour of the Pulwama martyrs. I was doubly motivated by this thought," the Rohtak-born boxer added. I am very happy to win Goldð¥for India at the Strandja Cup. 16. It has been six days since one of the deadliest terrorist attacks hit the country and took the lives of over 40 CRPF jawans. The nation is still mourning all the lives that were lost in Pulwama last week, and everyone is doing what they can to help the bereaved families of the martyred jawans. Relations between India and Pakistan have always been turbulent as we all know, but now it looks like this attack was the last straw for a lot of people as they want revenge from Pakistan after Jaish-e-Mohammed claimed responsibility for the attack. With so many people calling for an all-out war, Pakistani journalist Sehyr Mirza launched an #AntiHateChallenge to show how people from Pakistan are condemning the attack as well. Sharing pictures of several women holding up signs that say “I am a Pakistani and I condemn Pulwama terrorist attacks,” followed by the hashtags #AntiHateChallenge and #NoToWar, they're trying to send out a message for peace. Fighting for peace between the two countries and urging everyone to condemn the attacks as well, Sehyr also wrote in the post, “We're deeply disturbed over the tragic terror attack that claimed innocent lives in Kashmir. In such testing times, we need more sane voices to speak out against war and terrorism. We have initiated this #AntiHateChallenge to not only condemn the attack but also express solidarity with our Indian friends. Requesting Pakistani fellows, who share our feelings to please, join in ” A lot of Indians also showed support in the comments and left messages of peace.
  17. The Pulwama terror attack has been the focal point of all discussions lately, and it is good to see the entire nation joining hands to stand against the perpetrators in its aftermath. Indians from all walks of life have stepped forward to lend a helping hand to the martyrs' families in any way they can. The much-deserved attention, aid and prayers being sent their way is proof that India cannot and will not forget the supreme sacrifice that our soldiers and their families have made for the country and its safety. © Twitter Furthermore, we cannot disregard the sadness and grief that the Indians living outside the country are also sharing at this trying moment. Many NRIs have come forward on social media to express their sadness and anger against the terrorists, and their cowardly tactics to break India's spirit. One such New York-based 26-year-old NRI Vivek Patel deserves a special mention, because not only did he take to social media to condemn the Pulwama attack, but he also raised donations of over 6 crore rupees for the martyred soldiers' kin. © Instagram A Stevens Institute of Technology graduate, Vivek is originally from Vadodara in Gujarat, who was aggrieved by the attack and the devastation it caused to the martyrs' families. The Indian government has slammed Pakistan over its terror links, but the neighbouring country has denied charges. Immediately after the attack, India withdrew the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status, which was accorded to Pakistan in 1996.
  19. The rage is real. Memories of all those CRPF jawans being mercilessly martyred at the hands of the Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists continue to haunt us. Whether it's the loud chants of “Vande Mataram” during the candle march at India Gate in unison or the emotional speeches given by the fellow soldiers, the flare against those who want to harm our motherland is burning bright in every Indian. While the common citizens are trying their best to show their protest, there is one man in particular who is waging a war of his own against terror and those perpetrators who want to see the world burn. That man being Gautam Gambhir. Although he has parted ways with the Indian cricket team, the former Indian opener continues to serve his country even now. After the infamous terror attack at the hands of a Jaish influenced suicide bomber caused more than 40 CRPF soldiers their lives, Gambhir was one of the first few to condemn it. He was also one of the first to suggest that the only way to sort the issue out for good is to settle it on the “battle ground”. “Yes, let's talk with the separatists. Yes, let's talk with Pakistan. But this time conversation can't be on the table, it has to be in a battle ground. Enough is enough. 18 CRPF personnel killed in IED blast on Srinagar-Jammu highway,” the cricketer had tweeted on the day of the attack. Having admitted time and again that his first love was the Indian Army and not cricket, Gambhir also runs a foundation that works in favour of the children of the martyred soldiers of the nation. “We are sponsoring 50 children right now, we are going to increase the number to 100,” he said at the launch of Radhika Kawlra Singh's book 'It's Easy To Be You'. “It was pure destiny and had I not played Ranji Trophy in 12th (standard), I would have definitely gone into the NDA because that was my first love and it still remains my first love. In fact, my only regret in life is that I couldn't join the army,” Gambhir had said. 20. The terror attack in Pulwama, which is being called the biggest attack on India's armed forces since the Uri attack in 2016, has shaken India to the core, and no one is willing to forget the devastating loss the nation has faced by losing 44 sons of the motherland to spineless terrorists. © Twitter Yet even in death, our military bravehearts continue to prove their service to the nation by bringing the entire country together against the terrorists. Moreover, their families continue to take pride in the sacrifice their sons, husbands and brothers made for their motherland, even as they deal with their ultimate misery and loss. People in India have decided to stand up for the families of the martyred jawans in any way they can, and support, both financial and emotional, has been pouring in for them from all over the country. And, the latest development has further marred the league. "Due to unfortunate events a couple of days back which resulted in the death of Indian soldiers, IMG Reliance is pulling out with immediate effect, from offering broadcast production services for PSL. The incident that occurred is deeply regrettable," stated a mail addressed to Sohaib Sheikh and Kamil Khan of the PCB, the content of which is in possession of PTI. The PCB always had a contingency plan in place, and we are confident we will be in a position to announce the new partner on Monday after the completion of the formalities,” PCB's Managing Director Wasim Khan said. “The PCB has also noted the recent turn of events and expresses its extreme disappointment as we have always believed and emphasised that sports and politics should be kept separate. History tells us that sports, particularly cricket, have always played a key role in building bridges between people and countries," he added. Voicing PCB's dissent at the covering of Pakistan PM Imran Khan's portrait at the Cricket Club of India (CCI), Wasim said: “Unfortunately, denying India cricket fans the right to follow HBL PSL by blocking all digital coverage as well as covering or removing portrait of former Pakistan cricket captain and Prime Minister Imran Khan and other legendary cricketers from one of the most historic cricket clubs and venues are highly regrettable actions. The PCB intends to take up these incidents with the BCCI and the ICC at the upcoming ICC committee meeting in Dubai later this month”. 25. On 14th February, while the entire world was celebrating love in the wake of Valentine's Day, India was taken over by a state of mourning as its citizens bemoaned the loss of 40 CRPF paramilitary troopers who laid down their lives for the country in what is being termed as the deadliest terrorist strike in three decades in Jammu and Kashmir. A 20-year-old suicide bomber, Adil Ahmad Dar, from the notorious terror group Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) rammed his explosive-laden SUV into the CRPF convoy at Awantipora town in the Pulwama district. With about 80kg of explosives suspected to have been used, the blast blew one of the buses carrying CRPF personnel to smithereens, killing 40 soldiers and injuring others. AP The ghastly attack has, since, been condemned by politicians, celebrities and other bigwigs alike. There were also heartfelt messages posted on the social media from the sports icons of the country. Amid all the messages, Virat Kohli, too, voiced his displeasure at the cowardly attack and mourned the loss of Indian bravehearts. To further show his respect to the CRPF personnel martyred in Pulwama, the Indian cricket captain also postponed the RP-SG 'Indian Sports Honours' which was to take place on 16th February. An initiative of the 'Virat Kohli Foundation' and Sanjiv Goenka's 'RP-SG Group', the 'Indian Sports Honours' is an annual awards ceremony that celebrates the excellence of sportspersons in the country. At this heavy moment of loss that we all find ourselves in, we would like to cancel this event that was scheduled to take place tomorrow. — Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) 15 February 2019 "The RP-SG Indian Sports Honours has been postponed. Sanjiv Goenka and @imVkohli are deeply pained at the recent unfortunate event in Pulwama and express their solidarity to the families of the Martyrs. "The who's who of entertainment and sports industry were supposed to be present for the award ceremony. Every partner and all the sports stars and delegates associated with this award have been informed and communicated with, stating that hosting an event was unacceptable at this moment when India is mourning the death of its jawans," the statement further added. Kohli's decision to postpone the event was further hailed by his fellow countrymen on the social media. Kudos buddy .
