  1. Just two days after Google cut its ties with Huawei putting the company smartphone business in jeopardy, Honor launched its new 'Honor 20 Series phones as planned. Not the best timing, right? While the launch event happened as per the plan, it looks like the company might not release its new flagship, the Honor 20 Pro, anytime soon. That's right, the Honor 20 Pro's launch' has been put on hold indefinitely due to the on-going tensions between Huawei and the US. © Reuters According to a new report, the flagship Honor 20 Pro failed to complete Google's certification process before the whole fiasco started last week. So, if Honor decides to release the phones in the market as planned, then it will have to ship the phones without the Google Play Store or Google's apps. Yes, the phones are awesome, but they're no good without the Play Store or Google apps. Due to the same reasons, it appears that the company has also put its marketing campaigns on hold for a couple of weeks. So, yes, things are really not working in favour of Honor and Huawei. In case you remember, Honor also debuted the Honor 20 and the Honor 20 Lite with the Honor 20 Pro. As far as those phones are considered, they'll be released as planned and avoid any delays. Why? Because they were apparently certified prior to the ban. All three phones were also set to debut in India early next month, but we doubt if that's going to happen now.
  2. 'Game Of Thrones' just got over. Let that sink in. As we waddle through the bittersweet waves of emotion, trying to make peace with the fact that perhaps never again, shall we be as excited as we have been throughout the show - be it waking up at 6.30 in the morning, or shielding ourselves from spoilers, or getting into animated discussions with strangers in the middle of nowhere. That, precisely, is the power of a good story, almost like Tyrion pointed out, poetically, before electing Bran The Broken as the new king. © HBO However, the last season had the fans divided, about how good of a story it actually has been. After the peak it reached with the end of season 6 with a fierce storyline unlike anything else we had witnessed before, it seemed to just go downhill. Season 8 had the least rated episodes, with what seemed to be a superbly accelerated pace - a pace the story could not cope up with. The character arcs seemed to have fallen flat, and 7 seasons' worth of build up came crashing down, unable to shoulder the sky-high expectations of viewers (or as some would like to call it - shoddy, lazy writing). However, the finale had a few moments that did try to salvage the wreckage that was season 8. Here are 5 of them. 1. Jon reuniting with Ghost © HBO This has to be the highlight of the episode. After Jon left Ghost with Tormund, and didn't even pet him goodbye, the whole internet went into a crisis so deep, that the dankest memes weren't able to mend. When he finally petted him, we couldn't control our tears. And the smiles that followed. He, after all, has been a 'good boi'. 2. Brienne completing Jaime's story © HBO Brienne of Tarth and Jaime Lannister's incomplete love story perhaps is one of the greatest things this show has given us. Their chemistry, love, and respect for each other knew no bounds, and it stayed on, even in death. Jaime abandoned Brienne to return to Cersei - the love of his life, and instead of carrying the bitterness around, Brienne chose to write a respectful end for Jaime in the pages of history, announcing to the entire world that he died while protecting his queen. 3. Bronn becoming Master of Coin © HBO Everyone is aware of Bronn and his castle dream. Not just he got to be the Lord of Highgarden, he also became the Master of Coins - which means he gets to control all the money. From a sellsword to this - Bronn's character arc shows nothing is impossible when you persevere and play smart. 4. The Stark children all growing up and going their independent ways © HBO The portrayal of the Stark children showed us what family is all about. They had each other to lean on till the very end, but it did not mean that they had to lead lives that were chained to each other. While Jon went back to the Night's Watch, Sansa became Queen of the North, Arya chose to go on another expedition to a place no one knows about, and Bran became the new King - but they still stayed a happy family, till the very end. 5. Monarchy was abolished in Westeros © HBO The Iron Throne was destroyed, and along with that, monarchy came to an end in Westeros. There can't possibly be a better ending (while ignoring the weird events of Season 8 leading to that, of course) for the people of a country. The fact that rulers won't be born anymore, but chosen, even if by a select few, is an upgrade from what it was. Yes, they laughed at the prospect of democracy, but perhaps Oligarchy is still preferable to Monarchy, any day. Well, we didn't want it to end, but like they say, all good things must.
  3. What's the first thing that comes to your mind when someone says doctor? Injections, painkillers, antibiotics, and perhaps a man with a grumpy face sitting with stethoscope. I am sure you get my point. Well, no matter what thoughts come to your mind, dancing never finds its way to the list. But, thanks to the Indian Air Force doctors, people can now imagine doctors as someone who is cool and likes to do fun stuff. Something like, clapping along to show that happiness is the truth, because they're happy. Twitter In case you didn't get it already, we're talking about the viral video of IAF doctors, who took a break from their work to dance to 'Happy', and let's just say this is the coolest thing we've seen on social media in recent times. Twitter Be it doctors, air force officers or patients; everyone is seen enjoying while dancing and dabbing to the tunes of Pharell Williams' hit song. Reportedly, it was shot at the 12 Air Force Hospital in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. If you Remember the Gangnam Style by the 68 DSSC at Wellington, in 2013, this will make your day. 4. In a rare show of affability and camaraderie between Indian politicians, the country saw two senior politicos of the leading rival parties in India, Shashi Tharoor and Nirmala Sitharaman, coming together to show that regardless of one's political loyalties, we must always place humanity first. We are aware that Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram legislature, Shashi Tharoor had to cancel his election campaign on Monday, following a freak accident during a Thulabharam offering at the Gandhari Amman Kovil temple in Thampanoor. #Visuals from Kerala: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has been injured while offering prayers at a temple in Thiruvananthapuram and has been shifted to General Hospital there. He has suffered injuries on his head and has received 6 stitches. Doctors says he is out of danger. pic.twitter.com/oWPYIDFo1D — ANI (@ANI) April 15, 2019 During the offering, the weighing scale on which Tharoor was sitting, broke and fell on his head. He was rushed to the hospital where the Congress leader received 11 stitches and was kept in observation. Shashi Tharoor was injured while doing Thulabharam.thula bharam scales broke and fell.6 stitches and in hospital.Never ever heard of the Scales breaking and falling. Millions have done Thulabharam before. pic.twitter.com/xtxlhZjfbY — Charudatt Fadnisð®ð³ (@CFadnis) April 16, 2019 However, yesterday, BJP leader and Union Defense Minister Nirmala Sitharaman paid a visit to Tharoor in the hospital, wishing him a speedy recovery. This simple humane gesture and show of politeness touched Tharoor, who took to Twitter to express his appreciation. Touched by the gesture of @nsitharaman, who dropped by today morning to visit me in the hospital, amid her hectic electioneering in Kerala. Civility is a rare virtue in Indian politics - great to see her practice it by example! pic.twitter.com/XqbLf1iCR5 — Shashi Tharoor (@ShashiTharoor) April 16, 2019 He posted a photo of his meeting with Sitharaman at the hospital, and wrote that “Civility is a rare virtue in Indian politics - great to see her practice it by example!” We agree to what Tharoor has pointed out as we have witnessed enough muck being tossed between Indian politicians regularly and this gesture indeed deserves a word of praise. On her part, Sitharaman told ANI earlier today, that she hadn't informed anyone about her visit to the hospital and did it simply because it felt right. Defence Minister to ANI: I got to know that he (Shashi Tharoor) injured himself while performing some ritual(in Trivandrum)so I thought I should go&wish him well. I hadn't informed anybody, not even in my party circle. On my way back to airport, I thought I should go to hospital. pic.twitter.com/fYSfwE0WZn — ANI (@ANI) April 17, 2019 The society, and therefore the country at large will be such a better place if politicians decided to simply stick to their job in all honesty, and behave more like the civilised citizens they claim to be. What a utopian existence that would be. Don't you agree?
  5. Summers have already begun and I am assuming that in a few weeks from now, you would be planning your summer holidays, just like every other year. But unlike every year, you don't really have to come back from your holidays after gaining pounds of fat on your belly. Wherever you are heading this summer, the tips that I am going to share with you in this article are going to help you in maintaining your weight as well as heath during your vacation: 1. Practice Portion Control Credit - Getty Images I know that it's impossible to stay on a diet while you are on a vacation. And frankly speaking, you shouldn't really be too rigid while you are on a full-fledged vacation with your closed ones. So while you would be losing track of your diet, what you can at least do is to practice some portion control. Now, this won't really stop the damage but at least it will lower the degree of the damage. The problem begins when you binge-eat food items that were not ideally a part of your diet. Thus, while it's good to indulge yourself in some new and tasty food items that come your way during vacations, keep in mind that you should not binge-eat them. 2. Keep Your Protein Intake In Check Credit - Getty Images Majority of the food items that you consume while travelling or during vacations are full of calories. Generally, these calories come from carbs. Thus, it is almost sure that your carb intake is going to be sufficient during vacation. It is your protein intake that you will have to take off. Try to include a portion of protein in all the meals of the day whenever possible. Adding food source that contains protein will increase its satiety factor and thus you won't be feeling hungry too soon. This will help you to save yourself from overeating. 3. Have Foods High In Fibre Credit - Getty Images Just like protein, fibre intake also goes for a toss while you are out on a vacation. Thus, have foods that will add to the fibre intake for the day as well. So while you are having lunch outside and ordering your favourite dish, just add on a portion of vegetables or salad along with that. This will add on to the fibre content of your meal and thus also increase the satiety factor. 4. Limit Alcohol And Other Drinks Credit - Getty Images Though it's difficult to stay away from the temptation of alcohol while you are on a beach holiday, I would still suggest keeping your alcohol intake in check. Alcohol and other sugary drinks like flavoured juices and colas just add on to the calories and do not provide any kind of nutrition. Make sure you are not consuming too much of any of these. 5. Stay Physically Active Credit - Getty Images When you feel things are going a little haywire in terms of maintaining a good diet, try to compensate it with staying a little more active. Performing some form of cardio is one such move that you can make. You can also indulge in some outdoor sports activity like cricket and badminton along with your friends to enjoy the company and burn some calories. I am not saying that this will compensate poor nutrition entirely but at least it may help with the damage control.
  6. If you want to build muscle, there is a chance your gym guruji tells you this: 1. Train to failure ALL the time 2. Train one muscle group for hours always 3. Train hard till you are done After a while, it frustrates you when you apply the above things and you train hard, but you don't see any results. Well, I can understand because I have done these in the past. Guess what? You need to do some smart work and not just hard work. If you are doing any of the below things, take a step back and change things: 1) Doing Too Much Volume The first mistake is doing too much volume. The volume of your workout = sets x load x reps. Your total workload is the key to muscle growth, but doing too much actually hinders recovery and will stop your progress. Most people benefit from ~10-20 sets/muscle/week. Your actual volume depends on various individual factors like age, training experience, genetics, etc. A good rule of thumb is dropping your volume by 1/3rd to half to take a step back and slowly push it up to 20 sets per muscle group per week. 2) Doing Junk Volume Aka Very Light Lifting Along with too much volume, what's equally wrong is not going hard enough on each set. If you have 4 reps left for failure, you will be able to do much more volume because each set is so damn easy. I recommend doing each set ~1-2 reps from failure but sometimes more, sometimes less. 3) No Structured Plan If you don't have a plan and just walk into a gym, you may make progress. That doesn't mean your progress can't be better. When you have a plan, you reduce guesswork and can manage variables better. Have a set training plan for 4-6 weeks and get stronger in it than doing random workouts. 4. Doing 'Bro'- Splits It's okay to start with one muscle per day but not suitable for long-term progress. You either do too much volume which leaves you sore for your other sessions during the week or you are limiting growth by not taking advantage of elevated muscle protein synthesis. 5) Chasing The Pump Via Lightweights: Progressive overload means you do more work, and thus more volume, over time. Getting a pump causes muscle growth, but you will reach a point at which you have to increase the load/reps. So focus on doing more volume over time and do pump work at the end of your workouts and not your entire workout. 6) Not Applying A Wide Range Of Rep Scheme: Lastly, scientific research has shown that muscle growth can happen in a variety of rep ranges. Training in rep ranges outside of 8-12 reps can help you train different capacities and help push for progressive overload. So you can split your training in a broad spectrum from 3-30 reps. 7. There exists a specific set of skills which is required to be mastered by one to actually qualify as a true basketball enthusiast. You need to know the game in and out, be it Russell Westbrook's extremely jazzy jackets or Gerald Green's new 'Spiderman' hairdo. You've got to get in sync with the league's culture. Next, you must practice the essentials of playing the game. In order to shoot that hoop like 'Black Mamba', Kobe Bryant or move around the court like 'The Flash', Dwyane Wade, you must work on your craft. And finally, and probably the most important criterion of the all (are you ready for this?)... Have fun and enjoy the sport while doing all of the above! Basketball is all about fast-paced action which is a unique blend of brute force and finesse, at the epitome of which, is the National Basketball Association or the NBA. The NBA has never been more popular in India, expanding exponentially through cities and towns alike. The league has led to making LeBron James, Stephen Curry and James Harden some of the biggest household names in recent times. Indian fans are not only getting up early in the morning, sometimes, even before the sun is out, to watch their idols compete against each other, but also seem be to extremely interested in getting to know more about them, their lifestyle on and off the court, their history with the league and even their nicknames! But the guys at NBA India expect more from the Indian loyalists and see a lot of potential here. They believe that all the knowledge the league fans have garnered through days and months, should not go to waste. As a means to provide an opportunity to the basketball fans from all over the country to prove their loyalty to the game, a new all-NBA show, Jabong Hoop Wars, is coming to India. Hosted by the absolutely stunning Benafsha Soonawalla, Jabong Hoop Wars will see some of the most influential online celebrities like Nidhi Singh, Shantanu Maheshwari, Priyank Sharma, Aly Goni, Karishma Sharma and Prince Narula make special appearances in every episode. The show is all about churning out the best fans from the lot that the Indian audience has grown to become. If you have what it takes to be called a true basketball enthusiast who has the skills and the knowledge about the league and the sporting culture that revolves around it, Jabong Hoops Wars is meant for you. Great athletes like Lebron James and Kevin Durant had to go through so much of grit and grind and all the challenges put in front of them before actually being worthy of achieving the greatest glory of them all, the NBA championship. Likewise, the show puts forward some of the most creatively thought-out challenges that bring out the best in the contestants by testing their knowledge and skills related to the game and all the fun that happens throughout the year around the NBA, and believe us when we say that the rewards are worth it. The NBA fans in India are no less dedicated to the sport than those anywhere else in the world. All they need is a platform to show their love, support and respect for the game and it seems that their search is finally over.
  8. On a fairly lighter side of things (pun intended), we have some great inspirational news from the other part of the world. East African country Rwanda, has officially banned skin lightening and bleaching products and we couldn't be happier about the country's decision. The government is now sending officials around the country to enforce the ban more openly. The country is leading a campaign against skin bleaching and similar substandard cosmetics, especially products that include hydroquinone, a skin-lightening agent, in it. After all, it took an African country to stand up against some very intangible and ridiculous beauty standards that have been placed in high regard, almost all over the world. © Twitter "It is been implemented by the Ministry of Health and the Rwanda Food and Drug Authority and the Rwanda Standards Board," Simeon Kwizera, the PR and communications officer for the board told a popular publication. He also mentioned that the operations are being handled by technical people and that the police are ensuring all safety standards, while the operations are ongoing. The initiative was sparked by President Paul Kagame on social media, when he started a discussion on the need to ban skin whitening products, way back in November 2018. Well, it's a terrific move by the Rwanda government as they've realised the crucial health hazards that a chemical like hydroquinone can pose, even today. Yes, it's been given a green signal all across the globe but it's still designed to unnaturally change skin pigmentation, so it can be determined at hazardous. © Twitter While Rwanda has taken a stand towards the unethical standards of beauty, India is still lagging far behind in this sphere. The most Googled content on the internet in India still spells 'best fairness cream in India'. There's also a lot of search on 'why is India obsessed with fair skin'. A very paradoxical situation for a diverse country like ours, where 'let's scrub off that tan' is a very common thought process for most girls who go to beauty parlours. Matrimonial columns and sites still want a 'beautiful fair girl' for all the 'handsome, tall and dusky' boys out there, and most of these expectations make people, boys and girls alike, obsess with fairer skin. © Twitter We still don't understand though where this obsession comes from, but it definitely creates an imbalance that is bred amidst apathy and entitlement in our country. I mean. you need fairer skin to feel more confident and whole and if you don't possess it, you need to apply dozens of fairness creams and bleaches, with a heap load of chemicals in it, to magically transform your pigment to a lighter one. And it's not done for fun or for the sake of looking beautiful! No! It's done under immense pressure, to stand out in society and maybe get an equal opportunity somewhere! © Twitter Advertisements showcasing the need to use these creams, wherein a girl who goes for an interview, or is performing on stage doesn't do well unless she starts using a fairness cream to become more confident and voila! she's the best dancer or the best candidate, henceforth! Not only that, there's a fairness cream for men doing popularly well and is marketed in South India, endorsed by the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham and Siddarth Malhotra, and young boys are drawn to it like a moth to the flame. Although some celebrities like Abhay Deol and Nawazuddin Siddiqui have condemned the use of fairness products, we have a larger chunk of celebrities still endorsing it for even a larger audience. Thank U 4 making me realise dat I cannot b paired along wid d fair & handsome bcz I m dark & not good looking, but I never focus on that. — Nawazuddin Siddiqui (@Nawazuddin_S) 17 July 2017 © Twitter The fact of the matter is the awakening for a secure sense of being has to come from within and not from TV commercials, other people's standards of beauty or even your own conditioning. Even if you're conditioned into believing dark-skinned people have to try harder in the society, there's a way to break that belief system and unravel positive thoughts towards 'just and equality' in your own psyche. © Twitter We really wish the Indian Government administers a similar ban as Rwanda has, but I guess we have way bigger issues to tackle right now and it may take time to do so. But here's hoping we slowly realise the redundancy for this obsession and take a stance on equal standards of lifestyle and beauty and build progress in a unidirectional fashion, together.
  9. College life is fun-time. You have parties to go to, dates, you take small trips to the beaches nearby or have pool parties with your friends. More than all of that, you obviously want to look good and show off a great physique. You join a gym and the trainer tells you the importance of eating clean and taking a bunch of supplements. This gets you nowhere as either what is recommended to you does not work or you are too short on cash to get those things. Guess what? You need none of those. © Pixabay Being a hotel management graduate and having lived my entire school life and half of my college life in a hostel, I know the struggle. The reason was I didn't have the right knowledge and I didn't know who to trust in this field. The only thing I knew was to go to a gym and lift weights but only lifting weights don't pack on muscle. So what else do you need to pack on muscle? FOOD! This is where your diet plays a role. Based on my experience, this article would help to shape your body and build muscle on a budget. © YouTube To begin with, you need two things: 1) Planning 2) Download a calorie counter app. Planning Plan your monthly budget and pick your foods accordingly. Split your meals according to your convenience. If you want to gain muscle, then I would suggest 3 to 5 meals per day. Download A Calorie Counter App Download a calorie counter app from the app store and give your details to set your calories to gain muscle. Once you get a target recommendations then plug in the below food items. A few basics: 1 gm of protein= 4 kcal 1gm of carbohydrates= 4kcal 1gm of fats= 9kcal Sample diet (2500-3000 calories per day) Meal 1: Breakfast 4 Slices of bread 1 whole egg 2 egg whites 1 teaspoon butter Macros: Carbs: 52g, Protein- 22g, fats- 15g, Total Calories- 431 Meal 2: Snacks 2 medium sized banana 1 serving of peanuts Macros: Carbs: 55g, Protein- 8g, Fats- 10g, Total Calories- 342 Meal 3: Lunch 1 Chicken thali ( 2 rotis, one cup rice, 2-3 pieces of chicken, 1 cup curd, salad) or 1 Veg Thali ( 2 rotis, 1 cup rice, 1 cup of dal, 1 cup of veggies, 1 cup curd, salad) Macros: (chicken Thali): Carbs: 90g, Protein- 40g, Fats- 20g, Total Calories- 700 Macros: (Veg Thali): Carbs: 155g, Protein- 30g, Fats- 20g, Total Calories- 920 Meal 4: Pre- workout 1 medium-sized banana 2 slices of bread 1 tablespoon peanut butter Macros: Carbs: 50g, Protein- 15g, Fats- 13g, Total Calories- 377 Meal 5: After workout 6 egg whites Macros: Carbs: 0g, Protein- 20g, Fats- 0, Total Calories- 80 Meal 6: Dinner 1 serving of chicken meat 1 serving of veggies 1 bowl of rice and dal 1 tbsp oil Macros: Carbs: 62g, Protein- 35g, Fats- 25g, Calories- 613 P.S- This is just a sample plan and you can adjust it according to your taste and preference. Always remember, muscle gain comes from lifting weights and nutrition augments it. To grow muscle, it takes time. So, I suggest you train progressively every week, focus more on multi-joint movements than single joints. Sleep 6-8 hours daily and don't stress if things aren't going according to your plan. Start doing this to build muscle. Author bio: Yashovardhan Singh is an online fitness coach with www.getsetgo.fitness, an online fitness platform. 10. Amidst all the major confusion regarding their wedding schedule, Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas went ahead and finally got married in a Christian-style ceremony today at Jodhpur's Umaid Bhawan Palace. Looks like its Prick aka NickYanka vs DeepVeer tonight, as both the star couples chose December 1st for their wedding and reception respectively. View this post on Instagram One of the most special things that our relationship has given us is a merging of families who love and respect each other's faiths and cultures. And so planning our wedding with an amalgamation of both was so so amazing. An important part for the girl in an Indian wedding is the Mehendi. Once again we made it our own and it was an afternoon that kicked off the celebrations in the way we both dreamed. @nickjonas A post shared by Priyanka Chopra (@priyankachopra) on Dec 1, 2018 at 7:31am PST While we were busy stalking and scouring the social media to look for pictures from DeepVeer's reception, Priyanka and Nick came around and surprised us by posting a string of pictures online from their Mehendi ceremony. Instagram Our Desi girl Priyanka and her pardesi babu Nick, looked like characters from a fairytale dream wedding. If these pictures don't low-key make you want to get married, we wonder what can. Instagram Just like Ranveer and Deepika, Priyanka and Nick too will get married in two ceremonies - one as per Christian traditions that took place today and one will be held according to Hindu traditions, which will be held on the 2nd of December.

  12. When one internet challenge ends, another one begins, it's like a never-ending cycle. We finally got done with the overrated 'Kiki Challenge' and collectively decided that we can't stand the song 'In My Feelings' anymore, but another new challenge is here to take its place. But, at least this one isn't that life-threatening so that's a win. Yay! Everyone is familiar with the upcoming movie 'Sui Dhaaga' and even if you aren't, you definitely have seen the infamous Anushka Sharma meme from it everywhere. © Twitter Yep, this one. Well, I guess Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan wanted to shift all the attention from memes to something that would show the movie in a better light. The easiest way to do that? Challenge all the fellow actors to do something simple yet difficult at the same time. Side note – I would like to apologize for the overuse of the word 'challenge'. Okay, the challenge (oops) is quite simple – just thread a needle and obviously you only need two things, 'sui' and 'dhaaga'. Geddit? Geddit? So, here's the video posted by Varun asking everyone to participate in this challenge. Both the stars of the movie also nominated Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar. View this post on Instagram #suidhaagachallenge is here. Challenge your friends and family. I challenge @akshaykumar I wanna see how fast you can thread a needle #suidhaaga challenge A post shared by Varun Dhawan (@varundvn) on Sep 17, 2018 at 4:05am PDT Akshay Kumar was the quickest to take on the challenge but was he the quickest to thread a needle? Next were Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapoor with a 10 second competition. There was another competition between Ranbir Kapoor and Karan Johar. So much concentration! View this post on Instagram @karanjohar vs ranbir kapoor hahaha thank u guys sab badhiyaa hai A post shared by Varun Dhawan (@varundvn) on Sep 19, 2018 at 7:34am PDT Well, looks like couples who thread together, stay together. Both of them also nominated Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone so keep an eye out for their video, I have a feeling Ranveer will most definitely take up this challenge. And now, we've faced the best one for last. Here's SRK being a smartass and completing the challenge without any difficulty. @AnushkaSharma challenge done my way. Love u and all the best for Sui Dhaaga. May everyone's hard work & belief be appreciated and rewarded. pic.twitter.com/Nc1xb3Jlx6 — Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk) September 19, 2018 He really is, hands down, the wittiest person in Bollywood.
  13. While we all know a lot of people suffer from issues related to being overweight or obese, there is an extremely contrasting scenario where there are dudes who are struggling to put on weight. In bodybuilding terms, they are known as hardgainers who irrespective of the amount of food they eat, they struggle to put on weight. While the reasons you hear the trainers give are that your metabolism is too high or you are an ectomorph (does not really matter), the main reason for you struggling to gain weight is that you are NOT eating enough calories. And this also comes down mainly to you making a lot of filling bro-food choices like oats and potatoes all the time which are high-satiety foods and will fill you up, making you eat lesser calories than needed to gain weight. So it is time to ditch the oats and start including these foods in your diet: 1) Dates © Thinkstock Images A 100 gram serving of dates comes down to consuming 6-7 dates which is an easy task to do. The calorie and macro breakdown of this serving is as follows: Kcals - 270 kilocalories Protein - 4 grams Carbs - 62 grams Fats - 0.5 grams 2) Bananas © Pixabay This is one of the higher calorie/carbohydrate fruits out there. A medium-sized banana has the following calorie and macronutrient breakdown: Kcals - 99 kilocalories Protein - 1.1 grams Carbs - 23 grams Fats - 0.3 grams 3. Intra-Workout Carbohydrate Shake Or Juice © CNPprofessional While intra-workout carb drinks are not needed for almost anyone who is into resistance training alone, it can be a good addition for the hardgainers to get in some calories. A couple of sachets of Gatorade or some carb-drink would add the following calories and macros to your routine: Kcals - 188 kilocalories Protein - 0 grams Carbs - 46 grams Fats - 0 grams 4. Honey Or Maple Syrup © Imgur Liquid calories are the least satiating ones, meaning you can consume a lot of these calories without feeling full. Adding honey or maple syrup to some protein pancakes could be a boon to get in your calories. Two tablespoons of honey or maple syrup will provide you with the following macros and calories: Kcals - 115 kilocalories Protein - 0.1 grams Carbs - 28 grams Fats - 0 grams 5. Nut Butters © Pixabay A lot of brands have flooded the markets with almond butter, cashew butter, peanut butter, mixed nut butter and what not. Though they are not necessarily very helpful for those trying to lose weight, that is not the case for hardgainers as they are getting a calorie bomb by consuming these. Two tablespoons of a nut butter would provide someone with the following calories and macros: Kcals - 147 kilocalories Protein - 4 grams Carbs - 17 grams Fats - 7 grams To sum it up, if you are a hardgainer and you are struggling to put on weight, ditch the bro-bodybuilding foods and eat some high-calorie foods. 14. What is a super soldier? The usual answer would be: the one who is equipped with top-notch weaponry and possesses absolute man-to-man combat skills. Well, that is true but if you nosedive into the philosophy of creating a super soldier, things move beyond the understanding of many. The talk about a super solider should start with a very basic question: how strong is he? Strip him off his weapons and put him in a hostile zone, what is he left with to survive? Well, that would be his strength to kill with bare hands. Wars know no rules. Kill before you get killed. Close quarter man-to-man battles are ugly. Before you can reach for your gun tucked in a holster, you can have your throat stabbed. Here's where strength to kill with 'bare hands' comes in. So, what do we do to make the strong even stronger? The answer is simple: put the Indian Army soldiers on Anabolic steroids. Duplicating The Hollywood Fantasies © Facebook, Yudh Abhyas Know Captain America? Steve Rogers, the snail-sized soldier was put into a casket and came out as an invincible super strong, bullet-crunching-alien-killing super soldier. While the armies around the world have toyed around with the idea of developing sci-fi weaponry, nothing much has been done on the genetic or chemical enhancement front. Rumors have it that Nazi juiced the SS but there's no proof to solidify those claims. So has any Army done it yet? Read on. You will be surprised. The Australian Experiment 1998 © Facebook, Yudh Abhyas In 1998, the Australian authorities discovered that a lot of their soldiers in their Elite Forces were using Anabolic Steroids. Instead of taking stringent action against this, the authorities embraced the fact. Their ideology was- 'if anything increases the survival rate of our soldiers, it is OK!' The authorities even laid out certain guidelines for use of steroids in the military. Somehow the press (Sydney Morning) got hold of this idea and created a public panic. Eventually, the program got terminated and steroids were pulled away from military usage. The below mentioned article links are from the Sydney Morning Herald, dated 2010, and talk about Australian soldiers using performance enhancing steroids. All the links are forbidden and it's not hard to guess why. https://www.smh.com.au/world/three-soldiers-on-steroids-given-marching-orders-20101115-17udz.html https://www.smh.com.au/world/steroidabusing-australian-soldiers-sent-home-in-disgrace-20100607-xquy.html US Military Health Editorial 2016 © Facebook, Yudh Abhyas The US Military is also exploring the advantages of chemically enhancing their soldiers. The researchers at the 2016 Consortium of Health and Military Performance symposium suggested 5 primary agendas the Military must consider. Astonishingly, one of these was the further exploration of steroid use, including the costs and benefits. The interest aroused from an anonymous survey in the US Army Rangers which found out that 1/4th of soldiers had taken Anabolics or some form of performance-enhancing drug. The authors of the editorial, Lt. Col Chad Peltier and Kyle Pettijohn, PhD, did mention the pros of anabolic steroids and how it can enhance the performance of their men the Special Forces. But they also gave a final statement which gives a subtle hint that use of Anabolic Steroids can be justified in the military. How Will The Soldiers Benefit? 1) Enhanced Stamina = Increased Survival Rate Steroids tend to increase the red blood cell concentrations (oxygen-carrying capacity). Thus, boosts energy and sense of well-being. It also supports the retention of lean body mass, and improves muscle strength and most importantly, endurance. For the surgical strikes against Pakistan in response to the Uri Attacks our soldiers had to trek around 50 Km (one side) into the enemy territory. Once the operation was executed, our soldiers had to break out through the enemy zone in minimum time. Now these men already have remarkable stamina. But what if this could be made better and pushed to a superhuman level. It would only increase the survival rate of our men. Note - Unlike steroid abuse (which most bodybuilders do), controlled hormone therapy may have benefits with regard to cardiovascular health. For example, studies tend to show hormone replacement as having a positive effect on serum lipids which includes a reduction in LDL and total cholesterol levels, combined with no significant change in HDL (good) cholesterol levels. 2) Increased Muscle Mass = Increased Strength Levels This is perhaps the most evident benefit of steroids, due to which many strength athletes have been accused of administering it: superior strength levels. You might wonder that if our soldier doesn't have to squat 250Kg in a battlefield, then why do they need high levels of strength? Well, on an average a soldier would be carrying a backpack weighing anywhere between 30 and 65Kg. The load can increase during special operations. If our men have greater strength to carry the load, they can be equipped with more ammunition, inevitably making them more lethal. “To observe the above performance enhancements, super high bodybuilding dosages need not be administered. Such high dosages will undeniably do more harm than good.” Non-Steroid Substances For Increased Alertness & Concentration © Facebook, Yudh Abhyas Staying mentally alert is extremely important for any soldier. Often, our soldiers operate for extended hours with little to no sleep. Lack of sleep can decline cognitive functioning which can be a matter of life and death. There are FDA-approved drugs which stimulate the central nervous system safely and effectively. Drug M (name not disclosed for safety reasons) has been shown to successfully help in the treatment of many mental disorders. It belongs to eugeroics ('good arousal'), designed to promote a mental state of vigilance and alertness. One advantage of this drug is that it has much lower potential for abuse due to the fact that it produces a lower sense of euphoria. The U.S. military is quite interested in this drug, for enhancing energy levels of pilots and combat soldiers that need to operate for long periods of time without sleep. Soldiers on drug M have reported maintaining excellent cognitive functioning for up to 40 hours without sleep, and have fewer side effects. “Indian Air Force: The Go-No-Go Pill Test Use of anabolic steroids is rampant in defence forces around the world and it is a well-planned initiative. Imitating such initiatives, the Indian Defence Forces also have been experimenting on their soldiers. For example- the famous 'Go-no-go' pills were tested on pilots while I was serving in the IAF. These are being used by pilots to combat fatigue and heighten alertness during combat. First time it was used in the Exercise LiveWire, says report from Times of India Feb 08 report. Handling highly stressful situations becomes more difficult when sleep-deprivation and fatigue come into play, and can negatively affect decision-making ability. After the adrenaline-rush of the Go Pill, the No-Go Pill is used to offset its effect in order to rest before the next mission. - Akshay Chopra, Ex Indian Air Force Pilot And Fitness Professional” What Is The Future? The worst outcome in a battlefield is death. Everything else (including side effects of the drugs) can be dealt with later once our soldier survives the extremes. There are 1.4 million active soldiers serving in the Indian army; putting all of them on some form of drugs does not make any sense. But the ones involved in special operations and guarding the sensitive areas (LOC in Siachen, Jungles in the Northeast) can definitely benefit from this. So, the question is not whether the Indian defence forces will use performance enhancing substances on the soldiers, because the answer, invariably, would always be no. The question is whether we are ready to raise a crop of front line soldiers who are enhanced beyond their natural genetic capacities? © Facebook, Yudh Abhyas
  15. Facebook keeps on updating its social website with interesting features which sometimes turn into annoying ones. But this time Facebook has got an update which we all were long waiting for. Can you guess? It's the sweet reaction GIF which has finally got its place on Facebook. After a months-long test of the feature, Facebook has announced that it's finally rolling out support for GIFs in Facebook comments. Interesting! Isn't it? From today, anyone can add a GIF to a Facebook comment using a new GIF button that appears alongside the emoji picker. Much like the GIF button in Facebook Messenger, the new GIF comments are sourced from Facebook's GIF partners, including Giphy, Tenor, and Disney. But, wait. There are also a few limitations. Though you can search for GIFs using the feature's built-in search, adding a specific GIF you have in mind may be a bit more difficult. You can't upload your own GIFs or post GIFs via a URL like you can with a normal Facebook post. Facebook users exchanged nearly 13 billion GIFs on Messenger in 2016 alone, according to the company, which works out to about 25,000 GIFs each minute.
