Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Ramiz Raja had proposed a four-nation tournament featuring India, Pakistan, England and Australia but the International Cricket Council (ICC), in its board meeting in Dubai on Sunday (April 10), rejected it unanimously. The proposal was PCB's way of making up for an embarrassing 2021, where teams like England and New Zealand cancelled their respective tours of Pakistan. The proposed quadrangular tournament, as per PCB's estimates, would have fetched around 650 million dollars for all the four members and the international cricket body. Ramiz Raja tried to convince the board members but they decided to focus on bilateral commitment over a four-nation tournament. #ICYMI: PCB chairman Ramiz Raja's concept of a four-nation tournament has been turned down by the ICC due to a packed FTP.@vijaymirror's report https://t.co/twyxqHCDxW — Cricbuzz (@cricbuzz) April 11, 2022 "He (Raja) spoke about at length but the majority felt it is important for boards to focus more on bilateral commitment. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) members felt that going ahead they will only have the Asia Cup as a multi-team event in Asia and did not back the four-nation tournament,” a member, who attended the ICC meet was quoted as saying by the Indian Express. After the proposal was rejected by the ICC board members, fans came in numbers to troll the PCB chief on social media.
