  1. Two of the greatest athletes of our generation were playing to qualify for the UEFA Champions League semi-finals last night. While the general notion heading into the respective games were already made in favour of both of them, the outcome turned out to be extremely devastating for one. Heading to the second leg of the contest against Manchester United, Barcelona FC were already ahead of the Red Devils by a goal on aggregate when they visited Old Trafford on 10th April 2019. As expected, with the home-ground advantage, Lionel Messi and Co dominated the game from the first minute itself. Being better in literally every stat category there is, the confident squad rolled over Ole Gunnar Solskjær's boys in a 3-0 win. The Argentine legend seemed healthy as a horse, with his nose looking good as new and playing the kind of football he is known for all over the world. Scoring two quick goals in the 16th and 20th minutes, Messi gave his side an early and comfortable lead, thereby setting the tone for the rest of the game. Eventually, a third goal at the hands of Philippe Coutinho also came in the second half. ðª KING Leo ð #Messi ðµð´ #ForçaBarça pic.twitter.com/pjF9FDUTtp — FC Barcelona (@FCBarcelona) April 17, 2019 However, things didn't turn out to be so sunny for the Italian giants, Juventus, who were taken by surprise by the visiting Ajax FC at the Juventus Stadium. After settling for a 1-1 tie in the first leg during which Cristiano Ronaldo had to work hard to get his solitary goal to keep his side afloat, they looked exhausted and overwhelmed by the brilliant Dutch squad who have been on a tear this Champions League season. While Ajax did manage to knock out Real Madrid, who won the trophy in four of the last five seasons, not a lot were expecting them to force Ronaldo's Juventus out of the league, but thanks to Donny van de Beek and Matthijs de Ligt's brilliant showing, Ajax reigned supreme nonetheless. 2. "This is one of New Zealand's darkest days," Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said, as the country mourns the loss of people who were killed in the attacks on two Christchurch mosques. On Friday, the prayers of worshippers at a mosque turned into screams after a gunman mercilessly opened fire. According to the New Zealand Police, the death toll has risen over 40 and nearly 20 people have been injured. © Reuters However, this terror attack has landed famous YouTuber PewDiePie in trouble. Reportedly, out of the multiple terrorists who conducted the mass shooting, one of the gunmen live-streamed the attack and in the video he asked people to subscribe to PewDiePie. Yes, PewDiePie. The same YouTuber who has the highest number of subscribers and was recently in news for fighting with Ekta Kapoor on social media and competing with T-Series in the race for subscribers. "Remember lads, subscribe to Pewdiepie," the gunman reportedly said. © AP We're not saying PewDiePie is related to this attack in any way nor are we trying to troll or defame him. But, given his history of racist and controversial humour, people can't help but connect the dots. However, post the heinous attack and the mention of his channel in the live stream, PewDiePie has now reacted to it and says he feels 'sickened' that his name was uttered by the person. He wrote on Twitter, "Just heard news of the devastating reports from New Zealand Christchurch. I feel absolutely sickened having my name uttered by this person. My heart and thoughts go out to the victims, families and everyone affected by this tragedy." Just heard news of the devastating reports from New Zealand Christchurch. My heart and thoughts go out to the victims, families and everyone affected by this tragedy. — ƿ૯ωá«É¿à«¯Æ¿É¿à«¯ (@pewdiepie) March 15, 2019 According to a report in India Today, the gunman apparently visited 8Chan before murdering people on Friday and left this message there "Please do your part by spreading my message, making memes and shit-posting as you usually do." Our hearts go out to the families who lost their loved ones in this deadly terror attack and we hope that people of New Zealand get the strength to live through this dark time.
  3. As WWE India's Twitter handle suggests, it has been 20 years of pure destruction as Paul 'Big Show' Wight made his first WWE appearance in a special Valentine's Day steel cage match between the Texas Rattlesnake 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin and the company's owner, Vince McMahon. His first appearance on the show was one of the best debuts by any in-ring performer during the 'Attitude Era' as the 7 footer emerged from underneath the ring as McMahon's bodyguard and tossed Austin into the metal bars of the cage head-first. Having already wrestled in organisations like the World Wrestling Association for over a couple of years, Show had already made a name for himself. However, the fact that he had signed a deal with Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Entertainment (https://www.mensxp.com/search.html?q=WWE) was kept under the radar and nobody had a clue about the plans for the giant's huge debut. “It was such a cool impact because no one really saw it coming. No one knew that I was committed to WWE, no one expected me to show up at Valentine's Day Massacre and the way they introduced me was pretty cool,” Wight told WWE. Wrestlers tend to lose out on fan-following from time to time and need to work on their kayfabe characters regularly to be liked by the WWE Universe and stay relevant with the changing times and a regular influx of great, young talents to the main roster almost every year. But, there was something about Wight as a person that made him likable throughout. Being a heel or a babyface didn't matter to him as whatever character he used to bring to the audience, they used to welcome it with open arms. Big Show has had one of the most illustrious career with the WWE. He is a 2x WWE Champion, 1x ECW Champion, 2x World Heavyweight Champion, 3x Hardcore Champion, 1x United States Champion, 1x Intercontinental Champion, 3x WWE Tag Team Champion, and a 5x World Tag Team Champion. He also won the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy in 2015. Talking about what an amazing run he has had with the brand Show said: “I know a lot of people would think differently because I don't have enough 'wins'. It's never been about winning or losing for me, it's been about the show and the talent that I work with.”
  4. When the TV commercial came out in which former Indian opening batsman, Virender Sehwag turned into a babysitter) (a very good one, at that) to take care of the visiting Australian cricket team, everyone wondered why wasn't the original babysitter Rishabh Pant selected for the role. Although, Sehwag perfectly fits the role of a dad looking after his 11 kids, the entire concept behind the TVC would not have existed if it wasn't for the friendly banter between the Indian wicketkeeper Pant and the Australian Test captain Tim Paine during India's tour Down Under. A Quick Review: We can track the inception of the verbal feud back to Adelaide when the Indian wicket-keeper was trying to get inside his Delhi Capitals' teammate Pat Cummins' head. We have to commend the humour Pant saw behind getting an image taken with Paine's wife and kids after Paine threw the 'babysitter' shade at him. Tim Paine to @RishabPant777 at Boxing Day Test: "You babysit? I'll take the wife to the movies one night, you'll look after the kids?" *Challenge accepted!* ð¶ (ð¸ Mrs Bonnie Paine) pic.twitter.com/QkMg4DCyDT — ICC (@ICC) January 1, 2019 Neither of the cricketers would have ever imagined that that tiny moment of light-hearted comedy would snowball into something as big and newsworthy as it is now. The sledging went viral and even led to the world-renowned Bharat Army coming up with the 'Babysitter' song. Now that the Aussies are coming to India for their T20I and ODI series this month, looks like the broadcasters decided to continue with the sledging with Sehwag's hilarious new commercial. Amidst the desperation with which people were waiting for Pant to react to the ad, he responded with a rib-tickling tweet: Viru paaji showing me how to be better at cricket and babysitting — an inspiration always! ð@StarSportsIndia @virendersehwaghttps://t.co/IZvf9AqoJV — Rishabh Pant (@RishabPant777) February 13, 2019 Here is hoping we get to see more of the good old banter between the two cricketing titans, when the T20I series begins on 24th February 2019.
  5. A month ago, during India's visit Down Under, we got to see some A-Grade matches, batting and bowling performances by Cheteshwar Pujara, and Yuzvendra Chahal along with Shaun Marsh and the others from the Australian's roster and some brilliant sledging in good faith between the two wicket keepers in Rishabh Pant and Tim Paine during the five-Test series. It seems as if we have developed quite the taste for competitive match-ups as with a few days left in hand for Australia's tour to India for the two-match T20I and five-match ODI series, one of India's all-time great opener, Virendra Sehwag pokes fun at the beast the Australian Cricket Team is eventually going to become with the return of their star-performers in Steve Smith and David Warner before the 2019 World Cup begins. In a television commercial promoting the upcoming series, Sehwag turns into a babysitter taking care of little infants as they make their way into an Indian locker room in their tiny little Yellow Australian cricket jerseys. “Aley aley aley, dekho kaun aaya idhar…? Australia ki paltan aa gai hai,” says the very lovable sitter in Viru. This commercial is obviously the product of the small trash-talking session that took place between Pant and Paine during which Australia's Test captain asked Pant if he would like to babysit his kids. Later, Pant actually posed with Paine's wife and kids for the iconic picture. Tim Paine to @RishabPant777 at Boxing Day Test: "You babysit? I'll take the wife to the movies one night, you'll look after the kids?" *Challenge accepted!* ð¶ (ð¸ Mrs Bonnie Paine) pic.twitter.com/QkMg4DCyDT — ICC (@ICC) January 1, 2019 And now, cricketer turned announcer, Matthew Hayden reached out on Twitter to respond to the sly jab with an apt comeback. #BeWarned Never take Aussie's for a joke Viru Boy @virendersehwag @StarSportsIndia Just remember who's baby sitting the #WorldCup trophy https://t.co/yRUtJVu3XJ — Matthew Hayden AM (@HaydosTweets) February 11, 2019 "#BeWarned Never take Aussie's for a joke Viru Boy @virendersehwag @StarSportsIndia Just remember who's baby sitting the #WorldCup trophy," Hayden tweeted. The Aussies' tour of India begins on 24th February 2019 with first of two T20I matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, while the ODI series will begin on 2nd March 2019 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
  6. One of the most anticipated movies of the year, 'Zero', starring Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, and two of B-town's most popular actresses Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif, hit the big screens across the country this morning. And much like all things trending across the globe, the initial reactions and reviews for the movie have started pouring in on Twitter. The initial reactions seem like a mixed bag with some moviegoers even calling it a disappointment. Yet, people have good things to say about SRK's performance as Bauua Singh and Anushka's portrayal of a scientist with cerebral palsy. However, as many enthusiasts expected post the release of the song Heer Badnaam yesterday, Katrina seems to have delivered one of the best performances of her career yet. Tabloids so far have gone as low as a 1-star rating for the movie, such as The Quint and The Indian Express, while others likes NDTV, Times Now and Mumbai Mirror have given the movie two stars. So far the average movie rating boils down to a 3 out of 5 for 'Zero'. But let's see what the rest of the day, and the weekend ahead holds for SRK, Anushka and Katrina. 7. Bollywood's beloved and most 'sanskaari babuji', Alok Nath, is now under the radar as he has been accused of raping and sexually violating a veteran writer-producer, nearly 20 years ago. On Monday, TV producer-writer Vinta Nanda joined the long list of women who faced sexual abuse at work. She took to social media and accused "the most Sanskaari person in the film and TV industry" of rape and sexual assault. People were quick to connect the dots and realised that she might be talking about Alok Nath and soon enough, the actor started trending on social media. In fact, in an interview to Firstpost, she confirmed that she was indeed talking about him. © Twitter She wrote, "He was an alcoholic, shameless and obnoxious but he was also the television star of that decade, so not only was he forgiven for all his bad behaviour but many of the guys would egg him on to be his worst." Encouraging other women to speak up, Nanda mentioned in her post how this incident left her shattered and she went through a nervous breakdown, "I have waited for this moment to come for 19 years. I shout out to each one of you who have suffered at the hands of predators to come out and say it aloud. Don't hold yourselves back. This is a moment for change so your silence will only hold barriers to its evolution." She further wrote, "Almost 20 years later, I'm totally fine now, healed and reunited with my own self again. I'm afraid of speaking to an audience. For someone like me who was fearless and could talk to large audiences for hours, it is something that bothers me so I'm working on it." After Vinta Nanda accused him, Alok Nath has now come forward to speak about the rape accusations. Speaking to ABP, Alok Nath said "Neither I am denying this nor do I agree with it. It (rape) must have happened, but someone else must have done it. Well, I do not want to talk much about it, as for the matter, if it has come out, it will be stretched." When asked about his fans' and other celebrities' reactions, he said "What do I have to do with people? People will say anything to spoil my image. Leave my image, whatever has been said, it is absurd." He further said that he made Vinta Nanda what she is today, "At one time she used to be such a good friend...today she said such a big thing. In a way, it was me who made her what she is. It is useless to react on the allegations, as in today's world, whatever a woman says only that will be considered. In such a situation, it would be wrong to say anything." After Alok Nath's name came in the limelight, Bollywood celebrities have come forward in Nanda's support and are criticising Alok Nath's actions. Dear @vintananda I am so so sorry. As @CintaaOfficial a show-cause Notice will be sent to @aloknath first thing in the mrng, why he shudnt b expld. Unfortunately we've to follow the due process.
