  1. The World Cup fever has gripped the entire planet at the moment, but ahead of the much-awaited India vs Pakistan match scheduled for 16th June, the fervour and craziness in the air is at its peak, because like always, this is a highly-anticipated match, which will be watched by everyone, irrespective of their loyalties. So, ahead of this match, a Pakistani TV commercial has been going viral for all the wrong reasons. The advertisement shows a look-alike of IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman, who was in Pakistani captivity , wearing the colors of the Indian team jersey. This is the our hero's personality, no one can remain untouched. But next time plz use some good actors. Btw #ShikharDhawan exclusion must be a relief for many competitors #CWC19 #abhinandan pic.twitter.com/mrBFLFLh2d — Megha Jainð®ð³ (@i_meghajain) June 11, 2019 While Indians have mocked fans across the border with the 'Mauka Mauka' ad, a lot of angry Indian fans feel this was below the belt and not in good taste at all. This is shameful. Please just let this be a cricket match. This is beyond just simple banter. #CWC19#INDvPAK https://t.co/shsUrYpCHl — Ritayan Basu | à¦à¦¤à¦¾à§à¦¨ বসৠ(@ritayanbasu) June 11, 2019 Abhinandan's Capture Mocked in Racist #Pakistani Ad For World Cup Clash Against #India. This is how #racism, #nationalism and #sports combines to produce toxic outcomes. Entirely unnecessary. #CWC2019 #crickethttps://t.co/7gcMx2CxjI — Swati Parashar (@swatipash) June 11, 2019 Some people from Pakistan are actually quite in support of this advertisement, and feel there is obviously nothing wrong with it. Abhinandan again ð¤£âï¸ That's an interesting idea about Pakistan-India match in @cricketworldcup being played on 16th June ð #PakvsIndia #Abhinandan #CWC19 #IndiavsPak pic.twitter.com/W3EzxJfYdn — Danyal Gilani (@DanyalGilani) June 11, 2019 However, someone was quick enough to state some facts to stomp all over this uncalled celebration of this mockery. The advertisement is an epic fail because Pak hasn't won a single match against us in the World Cup and the whole #Abhinandan incident was a win for us as well, seeing how he was returned to us safely. Think thoroughly before you try to start a banter, Pak. #EpicFail #CWC19 https://t.co/CHgsJOOFLz — Rahul Mishra (@RahulDKMishra) June 11, 2019 The main question is, how far can you go when it comes to national pride? Is dragging a national and a sensitive issue really important when it comes to making a point? These guys have their hearts filled with hate. #Pakistan stooping to a new low#abhinandan https://t.co/X1KpCfKeFO — SnehalRajani (@Snehal_Rajani) June 11, 2019 Our soldiers are way above a mere, crass advertisement and mockery of this kind not only belittles an individual, but is also a joke on the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers of a country.
  2. Huawei was cut access to do business with American companies like Google, Qualcomm, Intel and other companies that collaborate with the Chinese company. The ban comes as a part of U.S. President's executive order amidst trade battles between the two countries. Having said that, according to Huawei, the company already has contingency plans in place to deal with the ban and the company's founder Ren Zhengfei has downplayed the impact it will have on the Chinese company. Supporting #Huawei does not necessarily mean you should buy a #Huawei smartphone. My family members use #Apple for a very long long time: Ren Zhengfei, founder of China's Huawei Technologies (Photo: Chen Qingqing/GT) pic.twitter.com/5rcrHJx3KR — Global Times (@globaltimesnews) May 21, 2019 Speaking to Chinese newspaper, the Global Times, Ren said that “In such a critical moment, I'm grateful to US companies, as they've contributed a lot to Huawei's development and showed their conscientiousness on the matter,” Ren says. “As far as I know, US companies have been making efforts to persuade the US government to let them cooperate with Huawei ... We always need US-developed chipsets, and we can't exclude American products with a narrow mind.” © Reuters On Saturday, Huawei tweeted “Lose-lose, Washington's decision to force U.S. companies to stop doing business with tech giant Huawei creates losers on both sides.” Ren also went on to say that trade restriction would not affect Huawei's 5G rollout and in fact, it would be detrimental for the US as other companies would not be able to catch up with Huawei's technology. "The current practice of US politicians underestimates our strength," Ren Zhengfei said, according to the transcripts from the interview. It seems like Huawei will remain unaffected for the time being even though the ban has been lifted temporarily for three months. The US Commerce Department temporarily lifted the ban on American businesses collaborating with Huawei so that software updates can continue on Huawei phones. The three-month lifting of the ban should give Huawei time to at least fight the ban and put forward its case to be removed from the Entity List. The US government currently deems the brand to be a threat to national security due to the government's claim of spying and stealing valuable information from American companies. Google blocked Huawei's access to its Android license on Sunday in compliance with President Trump's Executive order. Other companies like Qualcomm and Intel have also temporarily stopped business with the Chinese company until the ban has been lifted. The loss to Google's Android License means that future Huawei phones will not be able to sell devices running Google's proprietary services such as the Play Store, Youtube and other Google apps. However, Huawei says that the company has already built an alternative OS and is stockpiling hardware to tackle the current issue at hand. Source: Global Times
  3. For all you Iron Man fans out there, we know how the ending of 'Avengers: Endgame' must have left you an emotional wreck. There were tears, heartbreak and a sense of sheer disbelief. I have been there, and yes, moving on has been difficult. But today, I will not venture into the movie and re-live the sadness. Instead, I have some great news that might just help you cope with the 'Endgame' shock. The buzz around town is that the man who brought Iron Man to life on-screen, Robert Downey Jr, has joined hands with the premium smartphone brand, OnePlus, to represent the latest flagship from the company - OnePlus7 Pro, that was launched last Tuesday, May 14. With the OnePlus 7 Pro, the brand finally breaks its traditional OnePlus look and opts for seamless glass curves, immersive 6.67-inch Fluid AMOLED display, a sleek and chic exterior, and three colours including Mirror Grey, Almond, and Nebula Blue. The camera, on the other hand, is a different ball game altogether. First of all, the pop-up front-facing camera is no gimmick. It is crafted to deliver spectacular selfies without getting in the way of your immersion. Additionally, the 48MP f/1.6 rear camera is equipped with 17 mm 117° ultra wide angle lens which is perfect for capturing sweeping landscapes with incredible clarity. And thanks to the 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens with 3X optical zoom that lets you shoot high-quality, detailed images even at a distance. Apart from all that, the OnePlus 7 Pro features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 (octa-core, 2.84GHz) processor with Adreno 640 GPU, one of the best chips available on a phone currently. The device is supported with dual nano-SIM capability, a massive 4000mAh battery, and Warp Charge technology that can get your OnePlus 7 Pro up and running in just 20 minutes. How cool is that? And while all this is happening, the association with Robert Downey Jr is yet another milestone for OnePlus. "It's cool to see a young brand disrupting the tech landscape. I was challenged to help them create an authentic campaign based on the tenets of quality and craftsmanship, and it's already proving to be a great fit creatively," says Downey. As far as we are concerned, we think Downey is the perfect fit for the brand and is someone who is an embodiment of the 'Never Settle' spirit at OnePlus. Can't wait to see more from this exciting collaboration!
  4. 'Games of Thrones' is literally everywhere now. It's everywhere on social media, it's taken over our YouTube sub boxes and it's all over the news portals too. It's clearly a great time to be 'Game of Thrones' fan. But what about those people who don't really care about the show? What if you don't care who gets killed and who sits on the Iron Throne? Yes, it's totally cool to be someone who doesn't care about 'Game of Thrones'. So, what to do when it's the only show everyone seems to be talking about and you want to watch something different? Well, don't worry! We've got you covered. Here are five other shows you can watch if you don't care about 'Game of Thrones' - 1. Vikings © History Channel 'Vikings' is a great show to watch if you don't really like 'Game of Thrones', but want to watch something with conquests and sword fights. The plot of 'Vikings' isn't as complicated to understand as, say, 'Game of Thrones', but there's still a lot to look forward to. It tells the tale of a Norse hero Ragnar Lothbrok on his journey to becoming a Scandinavian king. The story is set in a medieval era, and the show does a phenomenal job of representing it with costumes and sets. Also, the cast has done a commendable job and the character development is on point too. Where to watch: Netflix 2. Outlander © Netflix 'Outlander' is yet another period drama, which should definitely be on your watch list. It's based on the novels by Diana Gabaldon, and it follows a World War II nurse who finds a portal (yes, a portal to travel in time) to 1743 Scotland. It's a show which combines historic action and drama with some interesting tidbits of time travel. Unlike the 'Game of Thrones' series, the books are a quick read, which makes this show all the more interesting. If you end up missing something on the show or you feel like getting a better understanding of the things happening on the show, then it's very easy to catch up. Where to watch: Netflix 3. Westworld © HBO 'Westworld', when it came out back in 2016, was one of the most-discussed shows. Literally, it was everywhere. In case you don't know, it's a sci-fi series set in a futuristic theme park where celebrities and wealthy people show up to bring their wild west fantasies to life. We're two seasons in, and the show just keeps on getting more interesting. Guess what? It looks like it's only going to get crazier from here since it looks the life-like host robots are up to something. The show is due for the third season, but it's not coming anytime soon. So, you still have a lot of time to catch up. Where to watch: Hotstar 4. The 100 © Netflix What do 'Game of Thrones' and 'The 100' have in common? They both are shows in which no one is safe. So, if you're planning on watching this show, then make sure that you don't get attached to any of the characters. That, however, is the fun part. 'The 100' is based on the Kass Morgan young adult series, but it's no longer following the original storyline and has now become a thing of its own. The show is about a nuclear apocalypse, where the remaining bunch of people are living in a space station. When the station's life support starts showing the signs of failure, they send 100 young prisoners to determine alternate safe shelters. Where to watch: Netflix 5. Frontier © Netflix Honestly, you can watch this show just for Jason Momoa. As Khal Drogo, he got killed off fairly quickly in 'Game of Thrones' and you can get your Khal Drogo fix from this show. 'Frontier' is essentially a show about the 18th-century North American fur trade, where the protagonist takes on Hudson's Bay Company. Where to watch: Netflix
  5. With the 2019 season of the Indian Premier League in its second leg, Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians are visiting Delhi to play their second match against Shreyas Iyer and his Delhi Capitals today. A day ahead of their matchup, Capitals batsman Prithvi Shaw got to share what is probably one of the most memorable moments of his young life when he got to sit across the table from the all-time great, Sachin Tendulkar, for dinner at MI's hotel. Living the dream of millions of fans of Tendulkar's, Shaw uploaded an unforgettable photo of the duo sharing a meal last night on social media. Thank you SACHIN SIR for the lovely dinner ♥ï¸ It's always a pleasure meeting you SIR ð @sachin_rt Sir pic.twitter.com/VLuR9Bee1O — Prithvi Shaw (@PrithviShaw) April 17, 2019 “Thank you SACHIN SIR for the lovely dinner. It's always a pleasure meeting you SIR”, a true Tendulkar fan in Shaw wrote in the caption. The 19-year-old cricketer is considered by many to become the next Sachin Tendulkar based on his natural batting style and the level of skill he has reached at such an early age. The two athletes have shared quite the relationship in the past decade. At nine years of age, Shaw was able to impress the little master with his form and technique. Last year, Tendulkar recreated the moment he met Shaw for the very first time. “I asked him not to change his grip or stance, irrespective of any future instructions from his coaches. If anyone asks you to do so, tell them to come talk to me. Coaching is good, but overcooking a player with tweaks is not," Tendulkar said on his app '100MB'. "It is so important not to change anything when you see such a special player. It is God's gift to have a complete package," Tendulkar added. However, the wonderfully comical place that the internet is, they seemed to be a lot more interested in what the two ate at the dinner than anything else: Kya Kya khaya Bhai @PrithviShaw — Suraj Yadav (@Suraj4Yadav) April 18, 2019 ð¤¤ð¤¤ð¤¤ð² — Sanket D (@sanketdhende) April 18, 2019 Sambar idly , Dosa Chutney , Vadapav , Poori , Pongal Vada, Uthapam , Tea , Coffee , Vadacurry , Sevai , Upma , Noodles Which one is your Favorite ? — Mahadevan (@Mahadev77720195) April 17, 2019
  6. It's absolutely true dogs adapt to mannerisms and temperaments of people around them, especially of their owners and we have one dog in Pune doing that exact same thing. A stray dog in Pune goes to a temple and joins the devotees in singing bhajans and this has been the most happening and adorable piece of news we've written today TBH! Twitter The video was shared by someone on Twitter and as soon as it was shared, it went viral! This devout little dog belongs to my friend's factory. Every Thursday evening, without fail, he walks over to the temple next door and joins the keertan. Then he has his share of prasad and trots back home. Every single Thursday! :) pic.twitter.com/HiuluOJdiy — sushma date (@sushmadate) 11 April 2019 Now tell me, isn't this the most astounding thing you've seen? Even though i don't believe in temple's, I'd go just to hear this dog sing bhajans and maybe get myself a therapeutic fix in the bargain. Obviously, after the video went viral on Twitter, people had to react to this absolute cuteness. Please share a video of him having prasad too. It's amazing, unlike anything i have ever seen. — Le Samouraï (@Sheshnath13) 12 April 2019 Ya, I would love to watch him eating his reward ðððð — Chowkidar Sushma Shaw (@SushmaShaw8) 14 April 2019 This totally made my day! — Flâneuse (@SharmiliChudail) 12 April 2019 Lovely doggo. What's important is that he fills the space with such endearing and infectious energy that we feel good writing about such stories even though they're happening miles away from us.
  7. You must have seen people supplementing Omega 3-6-9 in their diet. In this article, we'll first have a comprehensive look at what these fatty acids are and then we will decide if you actually need to take them as a supplement or not. Omega 3 Fatty Acids Omega 3 fatty acids are essential fatty acids meaning that your body cannot make them by itself and you need to consume it in your diet. The Three most common types of omega 3 are EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid), DHA(Docosahexaenoic acid) and Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). Omega-3's are a crucial part of human cell membranes and have a number of other important functions, including: â Increasing good cholesterol which improves heart health by reducing triglycerides and blood pressure. â Omega 3's reduce symptoms of psychotic disorders which improve mental health and reduces symptoms of depression. â Consumption of Omega 3's decreases Liver Fat and helps in weight management. â They improve bone density and helps your body to fight against inflammation. © Getty Images Unfortunately, an average adult's diet lacks in omega 3's. This has also contributed to a rise in various ailments like obesity, diabetes and heart disease in the past decade or two. Good source of omega 3 include, fish, chia seeds, walnuts, flaxseeds etc. Omega 6 Fatty Acids Omega 6 Fatty acids are also essential therefore you need to consume them from your natural diet. These fats are primarily used by the body for energy. Linoleic acid is the most common type of omega 6 fatty acid. Though omega 6's are essential, our diet normally consists of more omega 6's than required. The recommended ratio of Omega 3 to Omega 6 is 4:1, while our diet exceeds this ratio manifolds. Since the majority of foods items are cooked in Oils like soyabean oil or sunflower oil, Indians receive more than what is required of this fatty acid. Other sources like Mayonnaise, cashews and walnuts also contain omega 6, therefore there is hardly any individual who does not get enough of this omega acid from his diet. Omega 9 Fatty Acids © Getty Images Omega 9 is non-essential fatty acid meaning your body is capable of producing it by itself. Since they are non-essential there is no adequate intake recommendation for them. Omega 9 are the most abundant fats in the human body. Studies show that consumption of high monounsaturated fats like omega 9, instead of other types of fats could reduce triglycerides levels and bad cholesterol (LDL). Sources of omega 9 are Olive Oil, Cashews, Almonds, Avocado, Peanuts, and Walnuts etc. Do You Really Need To Supplement Them? With the above information, it is quite clear that there's hardly any need to supplement Omega 6 and Omega 9. You just need to supplement Omega 3, that too if you are not able to complete the intake through natural foods. You should always try to consume the fatty acids in the right balance to maintain a healthy life balance.
  8. The fitness industry has always been dominated by fads and myths. Whenever people hear something new, they themselves start adding their own beliefs to it and which ultimately becomes a trend. The latest to join this trend is a Gluten-free diet. I am sure 5 years back hardly anyone of us had even heard this name, 'gluten sensitivity'. However, today you will find people discussing that they have eliminated all the gluten from their diet. They would argue that gluten is bad for their body and they have seen drastic results since they left consuming gluten foods. However, the only gain that I can see is for the people who manufacture the gluten-free products. Read on to know more. However, the aggressive marketing campaign of companies that produce gluten-free products and the general misconception amongst people has led to a time that even a healthy and fit person is choosing a gluten-free product to stay on the safer side. Suddenly, gluten is being portrayed as some kind of an enemy and that you need to stay away from gluten in general. Gluten & Gluten Intolerance Gluten is nothing but a naturally occurring protein found in wheat and wheat products. It is also used in baking as it helps the dough to rise and adds to the viscosity. If you look at the above statement, you must be wondering that "it doesn't sound like something bad to me then why people are afraid of it?" Well, in general, you don't have to be. Not more than one per cent of the world's population suffers from Gluten intolerance or celiac disease. © Getty Images People who suffer from gluten sensitivity cannot digest gluten and can get symptoms like diarrhoea, skin rashes, fatigue, headache etc. Now before you diagnose yourself of having a celiac disease by yourself, let me inform you that there is a test available in the labs and you can get yourself tested before you claim to be gluten sensitive. It is not a mosquito bite that you can diagnose on your own by looking at it. I've seen people diagnosing themselves of having gluten sensitivity because they suffer from poor digestion and constipation. Though the reason could be lack of enough fibre in their diet they still leave gluten. Not because they are gluten sensitive but more because its in trend and sounds cool to be on a gluten-free diet. The Gluten-Free Campaign If you notice, there hasn't been any significant rise in the population that suffers from gluten sensitivity statistically. The only significant rise I can see is in the profit margins of the companies that produce these gluten-free products. Since people are demanding more gluten-free products, these manufacturers are offering various varieties to meet the demand. Well, at least the genuine one per cent who actually suffer from celiac disease have surely benefitted from this as they now have more choices available to them when they visit a grocery store. All thanks to the people who are self-diagnosing their gluten sensitivity. © Getty Images Gluten-Free Products Majority of the gluten-free products contain some form of additives to have the same level of viscosity and taste. They are loaded with synthetic sugars or fats making them a bag full of extra calories. You just buy a product when you see the words 'Gluten-Free' in the bold. However, what you don't see is the extra additives that these products contain. For example, when you choose a gluten-free biscuit from a store, it might contain more number of calories than a regular biscuit that has gluten. Now if you aren't really a gluten sensitive person, it doesn't make any sense to spend more for a product that has unnecessary loaded calories with no extra benefit to your health. Be Smart Don't just follow the fads and trends blindly, that's all I am asking you to do. If someone says that he has given up gluten and seen drastic changes, he might be genuinely suffering from celiac disease. It doesn't mean that you too have to give up gluten to experience the same changes in your body. Every individual is different and so is the solution for the individual problem. 9. Have you ever ripped out a USB device recklessly without 'safely removing' it from your computer, and got poked by a tech expert? Well, you no longer need to worry about that. Microsoft has finally accepted that nobody was doing it anyway, and is doing away with 'safely eject' option once and for all. That's right, Microsoft no longer cares what you do. On a serious note, though, Microsoft has changed the system's default setting for USB and Thunderbolt-enabled external devices with the new Windows 10 update. The OS now comes with “Quick Removal” settings by default, which means you can now remove your USB devices without upsetting the fellow tech expert sitting next to you. © Reuters The change was actually made back in October last year, but it's only now that the company is officially alerting the professionals. It is, however, worth pointing out that the 'safely remove' icon is still present after the update, but you can simply ignore it, and yank the USB device out anytime, assuming you are not in the middle of actively copying files to or from it. According to Microsoft, pulling out the USB device without 'safely removing' it may still degrade system performance. Let's be honest though, we all have been ripping out our flash drives without using that option for years now, and our system have been just fine. But hey, it's nice to know that Microsoft doesn't really cares anymore.
  10. You don't necessarily need to have deep pockets to buy a good flagship phone in 2019. There are some amazing options out there from the likes of OnePlus, Honor, etc. Heck, even Apple proved that with the iPhone XR last year, that offered almost all flagship features at a reasonable price. Now this year, it's Samsung who's trying to do the same with its Galaxy S10e. Yes, it's a phone for those who envy all the flagship features of the Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus but aren't willing to shell out big bucks. Well, if you are that person, then I am here to tell you that it's a great idea. I say that because I've spent the better part of the last few weeks using the Galaxy S10e as my daily driver, and I absolutely love it. In fact, I think this is the best Galaxy model for most people who're looking to buy one of the newer Galaxy S10 phones. Let me tell you why: Design & Display Of course, the first thing that I am going to talk about is the size of this phone. The Galaxy S10e is a small and compact phone. It's very much a one-handed device, and my palm completely wraps around it. It's one of those cute little phones that are really hard to find these days. Everyone who I handed over this phone to, was surprised by how tiny and compact it is. Just perfect! © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla From the power button/ fingerprint scanner on the right-hand side of the phone to the volume rockers and the Bixby button on the left, I was easily able to reach all of them without any issues. Trust me, that's not something I can say for all the phones in 2019. And before I proceed, let me acknowledge the fact that this phone has a great fingerprint scanner. Easy to reach and amazingly fast. I'd also like to point out that the Galaxy S10e, because of the smaller form factor, makes it look and feel different from the bunch. That, however, isn't necessarily a bad thing. I still love the Galaxy S10e. It's a premium looking device with glass on both front and back with an aluminium frame. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla On to the front, the Galaxy S10e has a 5.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It doesn't have WQHD+ screen resolution unlike the other two variants, but you won't really notice it. The screen looks sharp, plus it's HDR10+ certified, so it has great colour accuracy which makes it great for content consumption. And thanks to its bezel-less design, the Galaxy S10e is even smaller than the Pixel 3, which has a 5.5-inch display in comparison. Samsung managed to pull off the bezel-less design by punching a hole in the display for the front-facing camera. I honestly still find it a little distracting, but there's not a lot that you can do to avoid it besides using some clever wallpapers to hide from the home screen as I did. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla The hole-punch display or the Infinity-O display, as Samsung likes to call it, didn't really bother me that much. It's still an awesome display to consume content, be it gaming or watching Netflix, etc. If you hate it though, then sadly you'll either have to stick to a phone with a display notch or a pop-up camera module like the Vivo V15 Pro. Overall, I'd say the Galaxy S10e scores full marks in the design and display department. It looks and feels like a premium Galaxy flagship in every way, only smaller. Its pocketable size in an era of phones with massive footprints is a breath of fresh air, and I am sure you'll love it. Performance The Samsung Galaxy S10e is armed with Samsung's new Exynos 9820 along with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, which you can expand via a microSD card upto 512GB. Now, in case you're a fan of benchmarks, then let me get that out of the way before I talk about my day-to-day experience with the phone. I ran the Galaxy S10e through Geekbench 4, AnTuTu, and 3DMark, and here's how it performed - © MensXP In Geekbench, the Galaxy S10e scored a single-core score of 4,496 and a multi-core score of 10,129. It scored 322,973 in Antutu, finally scored 4,309 in 3DMark's Sling Shot Extreme test. These results, I'd say are on par with other flagship phones on the market. And that also translates to great real-world performance as well. But that's not really a surprise, is it? I am yet to have noticed a single stutter or a hint of lag. I like to give credits where it's due, so I'd like to point out that the Samsung's new OneUI is in-part responsible for that. The UI is nice and clean, and I am really happy with how far Samsung has managed to come from the old Touchwiz interface. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla Even with 6GB of RAM, you'll be getting the full flagship power. I also played games like PUBG and Asphat 9, and the phone was able to run even the most demanding titles without breaking a sweat. So overall, it is safe to say that the Galaxy S10e doesn't stray far from the regular S10 or the S10 Plus's performance benchmark. You'll essentially get the same performance in, you know, a smaller package. Since we're talking about the hardware, I think it's a good time to point out the Galaxy S10e has a 3.5mm headphone and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Oh, and the speakers? Well, they're just as good as the ones you'll find on the standard Galaxy S10 and the Galaxy S10 Plus. Biometrics As I mentioned previously in this review, the Galaxy S10e has a traditional scanner on the side, instead of an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Am I complaining about it? Absolutely not. In fact, I am glad that I didn't have to put up with a slower and a comparatively less accurate scanner. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla Also, the side-mounted fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S10e is located in a perfect spot, in my opinion. It's the spot where my thumb naturally rests on the phone, making it very quick and easy to scan or even pull down my notification shade. And did I tell you that it's really fast? In case you're not a fan of a physical fingerprint scanner for some reason, then you can choose to use Samsung's face unlock to get into the phone. It's obviously not as reliable or secure, but it gets the job done too. Camera Oh yes, the cameras! Unlike the Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus, the S10e only has two rear-facing cameras. There's a 12-megapixel wide angle camera and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide camera for times when you want to fit more of everything into an image. It lacks the telephoto camera, but frankly, it's not something you should worry about too much. Simply put, the cameras on the S10e are fantastic. If I am being completely honest, I kinda missed shooting pictures with a Samsung phone, and it was great having it around during my testing period. © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla As you can see, all the images shot from the Galaxy S10e have plenty of detail. The photos, as usual, look nice and vivid. Samsung's image processing is also playing a huge role here to make the flowers and monuments looks a tad bit better on screen. I couldn't compare the S10e's cameras with that of the Galaxy S10 or S10 Plus, but I am sure there's not a big difference in terms of the quality. I also had a great time testing the phone's ultra-wide camera too. This ultra-wide camera, in case you're wondering, captures a 123-degree field of view, with which you can fit in more people or literally mimic what you see in front of you in the real world. The ultra-wide shots are taken with the 16-megapixel sensor, so you'll have a lot of details to play around. The front-facing camera takes great selfies too. It only has a single 10-megapixel sensor on the front, but you can use the software to fit in a few more people in the shot. The shooting modes are more less similar to what you get with the standard Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus. There's a 'Live Focus' mode which works really well. Then there are some other interesting modes like Instagram, with which you can post the image straight to Instagram as a post or a story. Battery Life Now that I've talked about everything that's good with the phone, let me address my only real concern here: the battery life. Samsung has tucked in a 3,100 mAh battery, and all things considered, it's a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, you'll still be able to get through a full day with moderate usage, but it's not a heavy hitter. © MensXP I'll admit, I tend to push my phones pretty hard, so I wasn't really surprised with the battery life here. During my testing, I used the phone to do all my basic tasks like playing games, using 4G LTE to do some web-browsing, mindless Instagram scrolling, watching movies, shows on Netflix, among other things. I was able to get around 4 to 4 and a half hours of screen on time, and I found myself reaching for the charger every single night. In addition to the fast wireless charging support, the Galaxy S10e also supports Samsung's new Wireless PowerShare feature, with which you can charge other wireless charging-compatible devices by placing them on the back of the device. I feel like it's a cool party trick that can come handy at times when you need to charge smaller devices like your earbuds, etc. The Final Say © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla So, should you drop your money on the Galaxy S10e to make it your next phone? Well, if you are looking for a small and compact phone that performs well and has great cameras, then go for it. Yes, it falls well short of perfection in the battery life department, but given the fact that you're getting so much for as little as Rs. 55,990, I am willing to make that detrimental sacrifice here and recommend it. Seriously, the Galaxy S10e is only the best 'compact' phone I've tested in a long time, but it's also the best value Galaxy S model this year. And like I said, it's the Galaxy phone that most people should buy this year without the fear of missing out flagship features found on other phones.
  11. You know how sometimes something really weird and unexpected happens and you just can't figure out what is even going on? I used to mostly think we're in the weirdest timeline because of BJP and Congress' second-hand embarrassment inducing Twitter fights but now another unrelated thing is also here to prove that. Their chemistry and rapport teleport us to their best on-screen performances and we realise it hasn't changed one bit since. Asian Paints has launched a national campaign for Royale Health Shield with the two powerhouse actors. It is a revolutionary paint with anti-bacterial technology and its Silver Ion Technology is highly recommended by the Indian Medical Association. And not just that, it gives the best finish that your walls can have. The video shows RK renovating his home and asking Deepika for her advice. Initially, the two are seen talking on the phone and their conversation is quite cute. But it's the latter part of the video which really got us all excited. After the phone conversation, Ranbir and Deepika come face-to-face and that's when their sizzling chemistry takes over. The widely shared video is being loved by all! Tell us what you think about it?
  13. Ever since the kick-off of the Round 16 matchup of the UEFA Champions League between Juventus and Atletico Madrid, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo looked dialled in, prepared to put the team on his shoulders and bring home the victory. However, winning the game by one of two goals was not enough for Juventus to make it any further in the UCL as Los Rojiblancos were leading the Italians by two goals on aggregate. This meant that Juve needed at least three goals within 95 minutes of game-time in order to proceed to the quarterfinals. “No Problem,” said the five-time FIFA Ballon d'Or holder as he single-handedly dismantled his opponents scoring twice with beautiful headers in the first half and a penalty in the final minutes of the game, thus completing his hat-trick and providing his club with the ideal victory they could have asked for. It is therefore understandable that emotions were flowing throughout the athletes who dominated a rival they once lost to in the most disappointing fashion not too long ago. However, the man of the hour, Ronaldo himself, might have let these emotions get the better of him as he celebrated his final score in a way that was, let's just say, not suitable for his more younger fans. What Diego Simeone can do, Cristiano Ronaldo can do better ð#JuveAtleti pic.twitter.com/O7jEJZDBjI — CRonaldoDaily.com (@BreatheRonaldo) March 12, 2019 Apparently, the reason behind such an animated way of expressing his success was that Ronaldo was mocking Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone who'd celebrated in a similar manner when his team beat Juve 2-0 in the first leg. The fact that the footballer's little boys and girlfriend Georgina Rodríguez were present at the venue at the time of the celebration just made things a lot worse. When asked about how he felt about Ronaldo's avenging celebration, Simeone told Sky Italia: 'Ronaldo is the best in the world, he can put in these performances on big nights. He will have seen how I did it at the Wanda Metropolitano and, like me, was trying to show his character.' What has come to be known as the 'Cojones' celebration (translate at your own risk), the Argentine coach was fined £17,000 by UEFA back then. 14. The fitness industry is booming and along with it, there are a number of fitness expos held across the country. With these tens of expos, there are at least twenty different bodybuilding shows that happen every year. Every passing year, the number of federations or competitions is increasing as a lot of youngsters want to become bodybuilders. Competing in a bodybuilding show is not wrong, but it is important for you to know a few things before you consider stepping on that stage: 1. It Will Take A Lot More Than Just Having Abs These days, anyone who has abs thinks they are meant for the bodybuilding stage. The fact is, 90 per cent of them are not. Having abs or being lean vs. being shredded are two different things. Bodybuilding means having great overall muscularity, having a balanced physique, being presentable, and being shredded. Just because you have abs does not mean you have to be on stage. If you want to compete, ensure that you have all of the above things to stand a chance. 2. The Prep Sucks Bodybuilding prep is not easy. There will be times you are angry, frustrated, hungry, and exhausted. There will be days where you will not even feel like moving from your bed too. There will be cravings. But these are the times you will have to suck it up and do what needs to be done. It is mentally stressful and can even affect your relationships. So, if you are not in a place to handle all these other pressures, doing a show may end up being one of the worst decisions of your life. © Unsplash 3. There Will Be A Lot Of Fake Natties 'Natural bodybuilding' has either become an elite thing or a joke. I honestly cannot decide. I leave it up to you. The reason I say this is because there are shows that claim to be 'natural' for aspiring natural bodybuilders, however, they are anything but natural. Just having the tag 'natural' after the show's name does not mean jack! Natural federations check their athletes thoroughly and randomly throughout the year. The shows held here in India do not do anything of the sort and are often seen firing the promoters the next year as the 'promoter' tested positive for drugs. 4. You Will Be Forgotten Most of the bodybuilding shows in India are just businesses. Every year, three to five new bodybuilding shows are introduced. They make new promises and take higher entry fees every passing year. You pay it, you get done, and that is that. Hardly are there good prizes in most shows and competitors are rising by the 100s every year. Even if you win a show, there is a great chance that nobody will remember you the next year, unless you are competing at a very high level. The entry level or novice shows are hardly remembered or even cared about. © Pixabay 5. Politics Exists In bodybuilding shows, you will fight politics at every level between federations, between promoters, between judges! I have personally seen competitors winning shows where they outright ignored judging calls and should have been disqualified within a minute of stepping on stage. I have seen the best guy not placing even in the top 5. Now, this would be a personal bias but you could check it out when you go and watch a show. The politics is real and even if you end up being the best athlete, there is a good chance you are going home empty handed. So ask yourself the question, is all of this worth competing in a show? If your answer is still yes, you should totally do a show. 15. Did the US Navy manage to teleport a massive warship in what's known as the 'Philadelphia Experiment'? This is one of the most intriguing conspiracy theories around - a close runner-up to the Roswell incident. Fans of the theory stick to their guns, while others say it's just the World War 2 era's equivalent of 'fake news' © Pinterest The Philadelphia Experiment Here's what's supposed to have happened: Back in 1943, the US Navy, apparently working closely with scientists like Albert Einstein, are believed to have been working on invisibility cloak - one that could make their ships invisible to radar and even the naked eye. via GIPHY The experiment is said to have taken on board the USS Eldridge just off the coastal city of Philadelphia. However, things went wrong, horribly so, and while the ship disappeared as it was hoped, when it came back all wasn't well. Apparently, the dematerialisation-materialisation had horrifying consequences, with sailors 'embedded' in the steel of the ship - one sailor was even cut in half. The legend goes that a second experiment, repeated a few weeks later, saw the Eldridge not just become invisible, but that the ship was teleported to the US Naval Base in Norfolk, Virginia, returning a few moments later. Again, the crew is said to have suffered, with many deaths, and some sailors reportedly going insane. © Imgur Eyewitnesses Or Weirdos? One account of this was given by a certain Carl Allende, who claimed to be an eyewitness on board another ship nearby. Allende was dismissed as a crank, but around 40 years later, another 'eyewitness' turned up - a man known as Al Biebek claimed he'd been on the Eldridge and was even brainwashed by US intelligence so he'd have no memory of the Philadelphia Experiment. Sorry, Folks, It's Probably (Definitely?) Not True The US Navy has always denied that the Philadelphia Experiment took place, while other naysayers have pointed out that the USS Eldridge had left Philadelphia well before all the mysterious happenings. © YouTube Even the 'eyewitness' accounts were debunked by scientists - a 'green glow' that is said to have surrounded the ship was probably nothing more than a natural phenomenon caused by an electrical storm, while the cables wrapped around some ships were just a way to demagnetise them so they wouldn't set off magnetic mines. There's Even A Movie About It Drop in on a few conspiracy theory forums and you'll find loads of stuff on this rather intriguing story, but we'd also recommend you watch the 1984 film based on this – 'The Philadelphia Experiment' strays a bit from original story but it's worth a watch - it follows two sailors who're on board the Eldridge - they find themselves transported to Nevada. Oh, and it's now 1984. Our time travelling sailors realise that the Navy's picked up the experiment, and it's putting the universe at risk by damaging the fabric of space and time!
  16. While I agree that dating is hard in today's day and age, it's also necessary as a survival tool for the young generation today. That's because it's healthy and keeps the young people balanced and on their feet constantly. While dating has become the need of the hour, it's still circled as something only 'confident' men excel at. However, that's not entirely true. While you do need confidence to manoeuvre your dating game, you also need to be complete in order to look for another person. You can face nervousness while asking a girl out but what you need to remember is that the nervousness is just a solemn cover for making sure you don't ruin the game for yourself. In simpler words- it's okay to be nervous. © Twitter So, the next time you want to approach a girl and you think you lack the confidence to ask her out on a date, just remember these 3 simple things: (1) Let Her See You As The 'Nice Guy' Why don't we end the stereotype of 'nice guys finish last' once and for all? It's a give that women nowadays seek nice guys and not the usual chunk of 'bad boys' anymore. The sensitivity to be with someone who is kind and understanding is growing steadfastly and that's the side you need to show her. If you spot her at a bar or if she's someone you already know, it's time to show her your nice side. That doesn't mean put up a charade or show her a side where she ends up friend zoning you. It just means that you need to make her see you as someone she'd have difficulty finding, in today's and age. © Zee Studios Approach her with a conversation and find something of common interest to pick up on and start talking. Maybe have a deeper meaningful conversation and actually LISTEN to what she says. Not only will you come out as a good listener but also as a sensitive bloke. Just be the nice guy every woman wishes to find today. (2) Let Her See You As The Funny Guy Yes, agreed not everyone is funny but you can try appreciating good humour. I am not saying try your best to be humorous. Humour comes naturally, yes. But you can try and make her laugh the best to your ability. Humour always shows a very kind and soft side to someone. If you can muster up the courage to narrate a few jokes or make the conversation lighter with humour, you have her right then and there. If not, you can advocate some good humour and take her for some good comedy shows around town or a movie that's funny perhaps. Whatever you do, make sure you add the element of humour to it. © Pinterest (3) Let Her See You As The Chivalrous Guy They say chivalry is dead, but it shouldn't be. Chivalry is the mark of a man. If he's chivalrous, he's got it all. Chivalry includes everything- kindness, manners, etiquettes, compassion and being a gentleman. When we were growing up we often saw our fathers or men around show utmost chivalry. Be it opening doors or holding the chair back so a woman could sit. We don't see that anymore. Yes, women are capable of opening doors or paying the dinner bill but it's an aspect that gives women the additional strength and warmth they need, if and when a man is chivalrous. So, if you do go up to her, be your chivalrous best, to a point where if she sneezes, you hand her your handkerchief! Chivalry shouldn't die and if you gradually bring it back, you'll see the dating game change in your favour. © UTV motion picture So, if you have these three things sorted then you're good to go out and ask the girl you've been doting on, out. Just remember, pretence can only take you so far. So be your natural self and try and do your best. Your nervousness will fade away and you'll understand what women really want, clearly.
  17. The act of gifting can be a particularly difficult pain in the behind. Especially if you're someone who in spite of trying multiple times, cannot help but stare at failure over and over again. And damn, sitting in the month that celebrates Valentine's Day only makes the pressure worse, doesn't it? But don't fret! You can thank us later for giving you a lowdown on this go-to list about what to buy and what not to buy when picking a gift for your girlfriend or wife! And to make things easier for you, we will also tell you where to shop these gems from! So all disheartened little souls, to keep up with Valentine's Day, there's Flipkart that brings to you the FlipHeart Days, with great deals and discounts. Follow these recommendations to the T, and you'll surely be good to go: 1. If you want your girlfriend to really appreciate your choice, get her the latest book by her favourite author or the collection of their works! There's nothing more romantic than the sweet sound of your partner reading her favourite book out loud while you're chilling together. Dharma Productions 2. If your girlfriend loves Marvel movies, why not gift her something that has more longevity than comic books. Like a Groot Planter Flower Pot for her to keep on her office desk as a reminder of her love for Marvel and of course, you. Sahil Kedia/MensXP 3. Buying a pair of sunglasses for your girlfriend can be a risky business. With things like face-structure, nose-structure, frame, etc. to keep in mind, you might get that wrong. Why not buy her something that's completely tried and tested. Like a perfume that she loves to wear! You cannot go wrong with that. Dharma Productions 4. So, let's be honest... buying a piece of jewellery for your partner is risky to the max. You can never be sure whether they will like it or not and good morning, most jewellery items CANNOT be returned. So why not put your money in something that you're sure they'd love, like lipsticks? Think Wet 'n' Wild, Maybelline, Makeup Revolution etc. 5. Pamper your busy-bee girlfriend with a long bath on Valentine's Day, because doesn't she deserve that the most? Get essential oils, flowers, and candles, and decorate your bathroom to look like an in-house spa! Safe to say she would like it more than being taken out to a fancy restaurant for food and drinks! And quit worrying, guys! For each of these gifts, Flipkart has you covered. You can get all of these gifts and more during the FlipHeart Days from February 1st to February 14th. Flipkart has the widest selection across beauty, grooming, books, toys, chocolates, and home décor. 19. One of the greatest sportspersons of all time, Usain Bolt will always be remembered for his astronomical achievements in the world of athletics. The Jamaican sprint king won multiple Olympic gold medals in London, Beijing and Rio to etch his name in the history books and create a legacy that is unlikely to be overhauled anytime soon. Thus, when Bolt announced his retirement as a sprinter, his fans, in every corner of the world, were undoubtedly overwhelmed by emotions as one of the greatest ever quietly walked into the shadows. But, then came a surprise. More of a joke, at first, which eventually turned out be more of a gimmick. But, Bolt thought otherwise. In fact, he began training with German club Borussia Dortmund before moving to Norwegian side Stromsgodset. But, his best opportunity came with the Central Coast Mariners of Australia's A-League. Appearing in friendlies with the club, Bolt scored a brace in a match in October last year which also earned him an opportunity to sign a contract with the team. After Usain Bolt announced his 'sports life is over', a look back at his first ever goal in football pic.twitter.com/kgKEXXFsf8 — Indy Football (@IndyFootball) January 23, 2019 However, the two parties couldn't come to an agreement on compensation as the club failed to find commercial backing to finance Bolt's desired wages. As a result, the Mariners and the 32-year-old star agreed to mutually terminate the trial in early November last year. An offer came from Maltese side Valletta last October, but they couldn't convince the sprint king to join them. Ultimately, unable to find suitors, Bolt has now decided to end his dream of becoming a professional footballer, calling time on his, supposedly, football career. "It was a good experience. I really enjoyed just being in a team and it was different from track and field and it was fun while it lasted,” Bolt said. But, with all due respect to the star athlete, did Bolt's football career ever really begin? Well, that was the question everyone was asking on the social media following his latest announcement. 20. Despite Sunil Chhetri climbing the Indian Football's Hall of Fame ladder by equalling former captain Bhaichung Bhutia's record of most appearances for the national team with his 107th cap, all was not good for the entire team including the head coach, Stephen Constantine, as India exited from the 2019 AFC Asian Cup after a 0-1 defeat to Bahrain on 14th January 2019. View this post on Instagram The Blue Tigers are out of #AFCAsianCup after a narrow defeat to Bahrain #INDvBHR #INDBAH #AsianCup2019 #BackTheBlue #IndianFootball A post shared by Goal India (@goal_india) on Jan 14, 2019 at 11:48am PST The loss hurts a little more due to the fact that the Indian team was on a roll during the tournament and despite the loss to UAE a couple of days ago, they were looking to qualify for the knockouts for the first time since the format was introduced. After an almost uneventful match between the two Group-A teams, an extremely unfortunate penalty in the 89th minute booked the win for Bahrain and fated India's elimination from the Asian Cup. To make things worse for the team on an emotional level, they heard the news that Stephen Constantine had given in his papers and resigned from the position of India's head coach after the match. Apparently, not a single member of the team was aware of Constantine's decision before the match and only got to know about it through the media. If you see the records, the number of boys he has given chances. I just want to thank him from me and the... boys for doing a great job and just hope wherever he goes, wish him all the luck,” Chhetri said, as reported by goal.com. However, Chhetri said a lot more than that. Criticising his team's way of playing the captain said: “Although we did defend well, we defended too much. We should have kept the ball more. Sometimes when you just need a draw, this is what happens.” Chhetri then also complained about the defence letting “every cross to come in” which led to desperation and the frustration led to them giving away the penalty in the worst time possible. View this post on Instagram What next? Get into the big league... #INDvBHR #INDBAH #BackTheBlue #IndianFootball #AsianCup2019 A post shared by Goal India (@goal_india) on Jan 14, 2019 at 1:42pm PST But is Chhetri's argument really justified? Let the stats do the talking. Team India has never been one to keep the possession for long. While in the match against Bahrain, India's possession calculated for 39%, and it was far less during the two of the better games the squad had played previously (vs Thailand - 34%, vs UAE - 34%). While the number passes and pass accuracy remained more or less the same. What was substantially different in this game was the lack of attack on the opposition's net as Chhetri and his boys were only able to take 3 shots (all of which were off target) as compared to Thailand when India shot 15 times and UAE, 9 times. While all said and done, Chhetri's argument seems to be accurate only when put under a scope of loss and defeat. What remains true is that yesterday, there lacked the motivation and energy which the team commanded during the first two games. We can put the blame on fatigue or even the players' mental inability to manage the pressure of the game, but in reality, the Indian football team will have to wait for another year for history to be made.
  21. Being a hardcore foodie, fitness was never on my mind in the first place, as all I wanted to do was just please my taste buds. Back in 2014, post my MBA, I joined a gym as a fluke to avoid boredom after work. I followed my girlfriend (now my wife) who thought it would be a good idea to a join a gym. We signed up with a personal trainer as well. Honestly, I had no intentions to achieve a stunning physique. I was there just to accompany my wife. It was not the first time that I was paying for a gym membership, as I had done this earlier as well and, of course, never went. Surprisingly, this time I managed to go to the gym for 1.5 years (all thanks to my wife) but with little and unsatisfactory progress. During this period, when I use to look around in the gym at people with a good physique, I gradually developed an aspiration for having a fit body myself. Gradually, I realized that my gym trainer was not adding any value to my progress and by that time, I was desperate for some good results. A lot of gym trainers are solely focussed on increasing their client base with absolutely no intention of doing any good for them. One fine day, I decided to go my own way and was the day, I believe, my actual fitness journey started. I made my own strict and disciplined regime and tried to stick to it. Slowly and gradually, the results started showing and it became a domino effect for me. In the pursuit of achieving more and take fitness seriously, I developed an interest in this field. I became focused and disciplined and started learning about fitness (nutrition/exercise) on my own. One of the biggest challenges for me was to have a discipline in life for both my workout and my diet. Being a foodie, it was very difficult to restrict myself to clean diets especially with long and stressful working hours at my job. I used to start with any diet but give up mid-way to sweet cravings (I have a very sweet tooth!) in a few days. Also, with lots of misleading information prevalent in this industry, everyone around (including internet) has their own so-called mantras of weight loss and muscle gain, which made it even more complicated for me to decide what to do/follow and what not. During the course of my fitness journey, I followed a lot of diets and workout regimes. I used to take a lot of guidance from different trainers and so-called fitness experts at the gym. I was told to take certain protein powders https://www.mensxp.com/health/supplements/44439-3-pro-tips-to-select-the-best-whey-protein-powder-and-not-get-cheated.html , supplements and fat burners; or else I would not be able to shed any weight. A lot of crash diets were recommended to me by the trainers and I was so obsessed to shed those extra kilos, that I followed everything but could not get the desired results. Since the time I became serious about my health, I started following many programs from the internet and curated my own diets as well. I used to follow those diets for a few weeks and then give up mid-way. Also, the programs which I used to follow were not really sustainable. I also took help of fat burners and other supplements (No steroid) in anticipation of fast-tracking the progress but of no use. Then I got to know about Pratik Thakkar of GetSetGo Fitness, whose client was at my gym, and I was impressed by his progress. When I got in contact with Pratik, I gradually understood how simple and self-sustaining a fitness journey can be, despite conflicting prevalent notions. The past one year has been a revelation for me. I learnt a lot about nutrition, lifestyle changes, keeping flexibility in my diets yet enjoy what I like. I still need to learn a lot and have a long way to go.
  22. India won the 2018-19 Border-Gavaskar Trophy with a 2-1 lead which makes this series victory the first by any Asian country on Australian soil. After Day 5 of the fourth and final Test match saw no gameplay due to rain and bad light at the Sydney Cricket Ground, the Men in Blue were presented with the trophy at the award ceremony and one could see how much the victory meant to the squad. Loud roars and hugs surrounded the team as Virat Kohli lifted the cup in front of a rather supportive Australian crowd. Jai Hind #TeamIndia ð®ð³ð®ð³ pic.twitter.com/meUaiPq2YJ — BCCI (@BCCI) January 7, 2019 “By far, this is my biggest achievement. Has to be on the top of the pile. When we won the World Cup (in 2011), I was a young player. I saw the others get emotional. This series has given us a different identity as a team. What we've been able to achieve is something really to be proud of,” Kohli expressed to the media in the post-match session. Understandably, when you are not one of the key players of a roster, you do not appreciate enough, the gravity of winning a tournament, let alone a World Cup. Kohli's comments can therefore be overlooked. What cannot be overlooked is the Indian cricket coach Ravi Shastri comparing this victory to the 1983 World Cup victory in England which was the first time ever India as a team lifted the World Cup ever since it came into existence. 'This is bigger than World Cup 1983 win,' an ecstatic Ravi Shastri reacts to India's maiden Test series win in Australia - https://t.co/2IYMtYadxq #AUSvsIND #INDvsAUS pic.twitter.com/feuii9v3jb — DNA (@dna) January 7, 2019 So, was Team India's recent success in Australia bigger than the 1983 win? Here are some facts that will help you figure it out yourself: As mentioned above, it was for the very first time that Team India lifted a World Cup trophy since its inception. It was a win at the biggest stage of them all against the reigning two-time World Cup champions, the Windies which included some of the biggest, most worrisome names of the time like Sir Viv Richards and Andy Roberts. Team India's journey to the final was not exactly made up of cotton candy as they faced elimination just before the semi finals began and had lost two straight games to Australia and the West Indies. The tournament completely transformed Kapil Dev into a legend, whose 175-run innings against Zimbabwe, to prevent India's exit from the tournament, is considered to be one of the performances by any Indian till date. #OnThisDay in 1983, India won the @cricketworldcup! ð®ð³ð pic.twitter.com/sksXdNeghT — Cricket World Cup (@cricketworldcup) June 25, 2018 On the other hand, Virat Kohli's team went against what is considered to be one of the weakest Australian sides without the like of Steve Smith and David Warner (banned for ball-tampering) included in the roster. That is not to say that Team India didn't deserve the Test series victory. With Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant coming up big during the series and Jasprit Bumrah's heroics completely justifying the accolades, Team India must relish this historical win. However, when compared to the 1983, this win is nowhere as big as the World Cup.
  23. Porn- the very word itself is enough to grab anyone's attention. So much so, that before the ban on pornographic websites was enforced, half of the top ten websites in the country were porn sites! They even ranked higher in traffic than Twitter, Instagram and Wikipedia. It would be safe to say that the ban hasn't stopped people from watching porn and different tricks are being used to get access. So, Does Watching Porn Affect People Who Are Into Fitness? © Thinkstock Images First things first, if you want to get fit you have to eat according to your goals, train hard and smart and most importantly, be patient and consistent. But if your testosterone levels are low, it would be harder for you to pack on that precious muscle mass as compared to someone who is in the average or above average range. Also, testosterone is the hormone that makes men more manly, as in, the more testosterone your body produces, the more masculine you will be. Now, the question for people who are into leading a fit lifestyle is, does watching porn affect testosterone levels? What Does The Research Say? There has been a lot of research into this matter where the testosterone and other hormones levels and physical performance are evaluated by showing the subjects different types of pictures and videos like photos of food and happy couples to action videos, funny videos, sad videos, and of course, adult videos. The response is checked in terms of whether the participant is neutral to it or does it affect the mood one way or another. Let's Look At The Studies In this study, 12 people who were athletes were shown video clips which were pornographic, sad and aggressive in nature, before making them check their 3 rep squat max, and the results were very interesting. While watching porn did actually boost testosterone levels, on the other hand, testosterone levels decreased and the "aggressive" video clip increased cortisol levels. Finally, when the subjects were asked to do the three-rep squat maxes after viewing the clips, those who had watched porn saw an improvement. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21983238 In this study, 20 young adult males where shown full-length porn movies which boosted their testosterone levels up by a whopping 35 per cent. The increase began around 15 minutes into the film and peaked 60-90 minutes later. This showed an increase in motivation and competitiveness and a decrease in exhaustion. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/4001279 Let's do the math here. Assume that your normal testosterone is around 500nh/dl, which is considered to be on the lower side of the spectrum, and you raise your testosterone levels by watching something arousing by around 35% and it remains elevated throughout your workout, that would leave you somewhere around 675nh/dl, which is considered average. So, it won't give you the same effects as sticking a needle up your backside as most of the gym rats nowadays do, but it certainly would make a small difference as the quality of your workouts will go up (heavier weights, more energy, and increased aggressiveness), which is a LOT better than sticking needles filled with synthetic testosterone, which will shut down your natural testosterone production instantly. Almost 80 per cent of all the research done on the subject shows that there is an elevation in testosterone levels when an external stimulus is introduced. What Does It Mean? © YouTube A very important thing to notice here is that all of the improvement in performances occurred when the men did not "finish" their porn viewing session, you know what I mean. If you do finish your session, your performance in the gym will be affected for around two hours or so after you finish “doing it”. So, does this mean that all that extra testosterone will lead to more gains? Difficult to say, as I mentioned above, there are a lot more factors that come into play besides your natural testosterone levels when it comes to building muscle, so don't expect magic but it 'can' help. But who are we kidding? You're going to try it anyway! 24. CES (Consumer Electronics Show) is the world's largest tradeshow for everything electronics and will be starting this week in Las Vegas. All the latest products and technologies are unveiled at the event, and due to the exponentially huge number of companies trying to make a mark, we often see them take a dig at one another. This year, Apple has a strong message for Google, Amazon and a plethora of other companies who utilize user data for advertisements. “What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone,” says a billboard facing the Las Vegas Convention Center. This is right outside CES 2019, and while Google and other companies actively participate at the tradeshow, Apple has always kept a distance. © Twitter / Chris Velazco Apple has also mentioned the link to its privacy website where users can better understand the data policies of iPhones. Even though the company has no official affiliation with the industry event, it sure wants to send across a strong message. The timing is even more interesting because Apple has revised its revenue forecast due to lower than expected sales of the iPhone. The statement is similar to the popular statement, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas." Also, while Google's ads are filled with colours, Apple has opted for a black and white only palette, indirectly meaning it's damn serious. © Twitter / LVMonorail As far as technicalities are concerned, Apple isn't wrong with the ad. Even though iPhone's have suffered some really embarrassing bugs in the last few years, privacy is one point that always remains unhindered. iOS is crystal clear about these privacy norms and doesn't let any app or service access your data without explicit permission. Even if we ignore third-party services, Apple never "processes" your usage data to target ads. On the other hand, Google is definitively an "advertising" company and relies on metadata to feed your phone with relevant ads. Amazon too had a number of dubious moments last year with the latest case being-- Amazon sharing 1,700 Alexa recordings of a man with a stranger. © Reuters After the Cambridge Analytica scandal, even the end user is more aware of data privacy and the industry has undergone drastic changes. Companies have been trying their best to convince people their data is safe. Apple's CEO Tim Cook has also been very vocal about user privacy in recent times. He also called on tech companies to essentially to “deidentify customer data or not to collect it in the first place.” While the Apple vs Google fight will go on indefinitely, these snarky ads are surely very entertaining for us.
  25. Like we didn't have enough troubles to pay attention to, we have another rather strange complaint doing the rounds and it doesn't even make sense. An advocate by the name of Mr. Ojha from Patna has filed a case against the film 'The Accidental Prime Minister', for promoting content that does not show several public figures in a good light, in the movie. © Rudra Productions (UK) We're a bit confused though. The petitioner has clearly seen only the trailer, since the movie releases on the 11th of January, 2019. And after watching the trailer, he's made an abrupt case of public figures being lampooned in the movie. Our fair guess says he's trying to save the myriad questions that may arise post the movie launch, which will put our former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh and his then media advisor Sanjaya Baru, in a lieu of unsettling thoughts, from the audience, since the movie is based on Manmohan Singh's tenure as the Prime Minister of India. Both the figures are played by Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna, respectively. © Rudra Productions (UK) While we do sympathise with Mr. Ojha's concern, we think his retribution towards the screening of the movie is absolutely claimless and haphazard, since the movie in question isn't even out yet. And it could truly be showing the actual events that took place while Manmohan Singh was our Prime Minister. So, if he's really offended with the half-baked content that's being shown through the promos, then he certainly needs a little more perspective. Some would say he's trying to be pre-emptive in his approach to judge a situation. While I can seem to agree on that, I cannot let that take away the truest essence the movie is trying to bring out, through a phenomenal cast. © Twitter The petitioner has claimed to feel 'hurt' upon viewing the promos of the movie and about 14 members including Anupam Kher and Akhsaye Khanna have been named who're associated with the movie, in a Bihar court. The petition was filed under IPC sections 295, 153, 153A, 293, 504 and 120B, relating to promoting 'enmity' between different groups, sale of obscene objects, insult with intent to provoke breach of peace and criminal conspiracy. © Rudra Productions (UK) While the sections are quite loaded and misdirecting based on just a trailer, we wish the petition doesn't pan out the way it's being planned to. Everything should have an equal say an voice and here's hoping the movie does exceptionally well. Watch the trailer here
