  1. "I hope to return to my best in this series...and it will be good if it happens before the World Cup," Babar Azam says
  2. A lot of things have been going on in Indian cricket since the last four-five months – both on and off the field. Starting with the T20 World Cup in the UAE last year to the recent humiliation against South Africa, Team India’s performance hasn't been up to the mark by any stretch of imagination. If the on-field disappointments weren’t enough, the last few months have been ridden with various off-field controversies that have made each of us think if everything is alright with Indian cricket. View this post on Instagram There have been several changes at various leadership positions, which are being debated to this date. In the last decade or so we had never seen so many changes take place one after the other in such a short duration. Some of the things that have happened, nobody could imagine them a while back. Who would have thought Virat Kohli, the face of Indian cricket and global ambassador of the game, would be subjected to what some call ‘unfair treatment’ by his own cricket board. © Reuters Amidst all this, Ravi Shastri, who had a great camaraderie with Kohli during his stint as the head coach, feels that given his fitness the Indian talisman can easily play cricket for next five years and pile up runs. The former all-rounder even shared an important piece of advice for the 33-year-old cricketer. He suggested that given everything that is going on at the moment he should consider taking a 2-3 month long break from cricket which would do him a world of good. “He realises he is 33, he realises he has 5 years of good cricket ahead of him. If he can calm down, focus on his batting, take one game at a time, probably take a break from the game as well, I think, if he goes out for 2-3 months, if he takes a break from one series, it will do him a world of good,” Shastri said on Shoaib Akhtar’s YouTube channel. Shastri’s advice didn't go down well with some fans who were totally against Kohli taking a break due to several reasons. While some were afraid that doing so would hamper his position in the side and others felt that rather than taking a break during India’s bil-lateral series, he should skip the two-month long IPL. Taking a break will only affect his batting even more badly, already took a long break in lockdown — Sai Balne (@balne_sai) January 26, 2022Exactly same thoughts. He should take a break during the ipl. Stay away from cricket that time and refresh his mindset for upcoming int'l cricket. I would really want him to do so. It will help him alot. — Omkar (@Wanderers_119) January 26, 2022I don't think that's a right decision. We have t20 wc just few months later. And this is the time he and the whole team should unite and play their best. So it'll be really bad if he takes rest or is compelled to take rest.... — হুতুম সর্দার (@hutum_sardar333) January 26, 2022Is he mad or what? He shouldn't take any break. Already BCCI is after him. A break can actually eat up his entire career. If he has to take a break, it should be during IPL, not during any international series. — Bhartiya (@UNOwen52049192) January 27, 2022Oh yes wonderful idea. He can take a break in April, I don't see any India games then. — Anwesh C (@Real_CA03) January 26, 2022Now that he is relieved of the captaincy pressure, everyone expects him to regain his old form and become the same batter who used to score hundreds for fun. People need to understand that he is not some robot who can be operated by a switch or a virtual command. Like you and me, he is a human being too who has a multitude of emotions and it’s important for him to take care of his mental well-being. © Reuters Kohli is wise enough to decide for himself whether he wants a break or not and we should stop being selfish and leave the decision to him. 8. Armed with an anomalous, sling-arm action and natural pace, Jasprit Bumrah first arrived on the cricketing circuit as the bowler, with an unorthodox action, who had everyone wondering whether he was really bowling legal deliveries. But, the more we got to see of this speedster, the better he got with his bowling skills. Today, he is not just some guy who bowls with a weird action, rather the 26-year-old has become a vital cog in the Indian bowling department. His deceit in line and length and variation in speed has established him as one of the most effective bowlers in the death overs in international cricket. However, a stress fracture in his back forced Bumrah away from competitive cricket for four months. The Indian seamer did recover and made his Team India return, but, since then, he hasn't looked at his prolific best. © Reuters For a genuine wicket-taking option for his team, Bumrah appears to battling his own demons as he tries to regain his form since returning from injury. The fact that opposition batsmen are probably happy to score limited runs off him while denying him an opportunity to claim a scalp is a valid reason behind his wicket-less run in the recently-concluded ODI series. But, for a bowler of his calibre and skillset, Bumrah surely needs to rethink his strategy to find his rhythm and lost form. So, how can he do it? Well, Zaheer Khan seems to have an answer. "When you build a reputation like how Jasprit Bumrah has built now over the years, you will have to fight this. Bumrah is in a phase where teams are saying 'even if we get thirty five runs we are happy with that as long as we are not giving him wickets because then we can attack the other bowlers'," Zaheer told Cricbuzz. 9. Established in 2000 as a brainchild of former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Raj Singh Dungarpur, the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru was aimed at nurturing and grooming young talent to continue a healthy supply to the Indian team. But, the famed academy has had its ups and downs over the years. Under the reign of N Srinivasan as president, the NCA almost became a "ghost town" in 2013. There was a drastic reduction in staff and budget which saw the axing of video analyst and changing the employment mode of coaches and physiotherapists from being permanent to retainership. But, the decline of NCA hit an all-time low when the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA) took over the BCCI for three years. Despite promises of development, the NCA was completely neglected as the BCCI was busy following the instructions of the CoA. Once the hallowed ground for budding cricketers to hone their skills, the NCA had sadly become a mere rehabilitation facility sought by players looking to regain fitness. But, the forgotten academy has found a new ray of hope in Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid. © Twitter Owing to his success with India A and India U-19 sides, Dravid, earlier this year, was bestowed with the responsibility of breathing new life into the NCA as its new chief. More recently, the appointment of Ganguly as the new BCCI president appears to have sparked a positive change in the Indian set-up which also includes revamping the famed NCA. The veteran Indian cricketers, who once carried the baton for Team India on the field, have once again joined hands to take the NCA back to its lost glory. The duo has charted out a plan upon their intense discussion in Bangalore on 30th October. A detailed project, which is likely to cost more than Rs 100 crore, was discussed amongst BCCI top brass and the NCA office-bearers including Ganguly and Dravid. Inspired from Cricket Australia's High Performance Centre in Brisbane, the proposed idea is to transform the NCA into a state-of-the-art Centre for Excellence. The new NCA facility is expected to be built near Bangalore, a stone's throw away from the Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli to be precise. © Twitter Making full use of the new land, which is believed to be on a 99-year lease, the new NCA facility will accommodate three grounds, indoor nets, administrative buildings and the residential complex. The new model will also allow the support staff of the national team to work closely with the National Cricket Centre, sports science and sports medicine unit, and, state associations to aid the development of the contracted players. There will also be separate programmes for the A team, U-19 and U-23 sides. And, much-needed residential programmes designed for the talented and rookies alike. “There are also plans to assist each player to realise their potential. Players will begin at the bronze level and earn promotion to silver and gold on the basis of their performances,” a BCCI source was quoted as saying by The Telegraph. “The facilities at the NCA like the Australian High Performance Centre will include gym, recovery pool, 40m cricket training nets with analytics technology and access to sports science. The NCA will include sports doctors, physiotherapists, strength & conditioners, dietitians, psychologists and biomechanists...It will look after the players' mental and physical preparation and aim to reduce injuries," the source added. © Twitter "If a batsman has a problem with technique or a bowler with his action, the NCA will have all facilities to address it. Bowlers with suspect action can also get corrected here. The presence of Dravid will only make things easier. There could also be some more high profile appointments as consultants. Sourav is hell bent on using Dravid in the best possible way,” the source concluded. While the work related to the new NCA facility is scheduled to begin from January next year, the appointments of Ganguly - as BCCI president - and Dravid - as the NCA chief - are already promising favourable results - one that are undeniably needed to take Indian cricket to new heights. 10. Break-ups are tough and that's an established fact. Sometimes they're mutual and sometimes they're not. When they're not, one of the people involved in the dynamic goes through a tough time reconciling what's lost, while the other wants to be as oblivious to the person's feelings. © fox searchlight pictures More often than not if the break up is mutual, you want your ex back just so you can do it all over again and do it right this time. This is what most people assume will happen but it really doesn't work that way. To really want your ex back, you have to follow a process and begging them or showing them your desperate side really doesn't help. If anything, it makes them keep away from you consciously and subconsciously! Here are 5 steps to ardently follow if you want your ex back in your life, once again. (1) Cut Her Off Completely Women are fickle at times post a break up. They will go back and forth not knowing what they want. Well, not all but most of them display these traits and probably find it tough to completely cut off. This is where you need to take a bold step and cut her off completely. Which means no calls, no texts and no poking about on social media. If need be, block her from everywhere so you can't really see what she's up to. It was her decision to break up in the first place so she will have to endure a communication blackout from your end. © Eros International Complete cutting off from her will give her time to miss you and reflect upon what really went wrong. If you've made a mistake then she's probably just angry and has called it off in a fit of anger. Give her time to process that though. (2) Don't Be Her Doormat After a break up, the temptation to do whatever your ex demands can be unavoidable. Don't let her do that and get away with it. Stand your ground firm and make sure you duck any and all opportunity that comes your way. I know you love her and you'll do anything for her to be happy but don't compromise on your self respect. It'll just make her take you for granted more and you'll feel really pathetic. © Fox Star Studios (3) Don't Fret About Her Dating Someone Else There might be a chance she'll start dating again but it's not because she's over you. It's because she needs to get attention and validation from someone else because she misses that and she can't possibly get that from you right now. It's called a rebound and it's okay to go through with it. Just know that her rebound is nothing serious and she's not really moving on but taking 5 steps back and eventually she will realise that she can't have what she had with you, with anyone else. © Fox Star Studio The trick though is not to react and maintain your distance. The more you react the more she'll make it more obvious to you. (4) Be Happy And Content No, this isn't for her but for you. Well it can be for her too. If you find happiness in your life and go back to being who you were she'll see you that way and will want to make contact again. And this time she'll want to contact you in a positive way, to probably give it another shot. But that's only when you truly are happy with yourself and put yourself first and trust the process of healing. Otherwise it's futile to pretend to be happy when you're not just to show another side to you, to the world. Girls like a man who is confident and sure of himself at all times. © John Abraham Entertainment (5) Break Your Pattern Break your pattern that led her to end things with you. Maybe it's a pattern you need to break for yourself? It can be anything. So, try a change for yourself and strive to make yourself better each day. Not for her but for yourself. Maybe in time you'll realise you can do much better and you don't want her back after all. © Thinkstock Images Sometimes while really wanting something so bad and taking time to figure things out can make you realise you're much better off without that thing in the first place. So, give yourself time. Take some space and break your pattern and you may realise that you may not want her back at all.
