8 Biggest Reunions We Couldn't Wait To Watch In The Season 8 Premiere Of 'Game Of Thrones'
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online NewsFinally, the wait for 'Game of Thrones' season 8 premiere is over and most of us have already witnessed what goes on ahead in the series. If you haven't seen the episode yet (and I wonder why), then let me warn you this article contains heavy spoilers and you may want to consider reading it. The first episode of season 8 has everything elemental. From Jon Snow's return home, with the queen by his side, to infamous dragon rides across Winterfell, everything was placed in a manner that was in accordance from one revelation to another. The revelations made may have been small in gravity for now, but they were very impactful to further build the story and the characters. © HBO The most obvious element of episode 1 were the string of dysfunctional family reunions that took place, once Jon entered Winterfell with his troop. Some were very overwhelming (like imagine seeing your brother after seven years), while some were just oddly strange. Here's a list of the most looked-forward to reunions in season 8, episode 1 of 'Game of Thrones'. (1) Jon Snow & Arya Stark © HBO This was one of the most overwhelming parts of the episode, at least for me. When Jon was standing in front of the Weirwood tree, Arya sneaked up from behind and gave him a hug. It hits you the most when you realise the last time the two saw each other. It was before Jon left for the wall and handed Arya her sword, Needle. This time around when he noticed Needle on her, he asked her if she's ever used it and she said 'once or twice'. Well, it's only time till Jon finds out how many times Arya has actually used Needle. (2) Jon Snow & Bran Stark © HBO Jon and Bran last met before Jon left for the wall and at the time Bran was on bed rest, recovering from his fatal fall. Jon wasn't allowed to spend sufficient time with him before leaving as his mother, Catelyn Stark didn't allow Jon the time. So you can only imagine the emotion that went into this reunion! When Jon saw Bran, he went straight for his forehead to kiss it but realised the reunion was stunted considering Bran is now the Three-Eyed-Raven. Even so, we could see Bran was happy to see Jon and also shared his fair warning about the White-Walkers marching to Winterfell. (3) Arya Stark & Gendry © HBO The last time the two were seen together in season 3 were when they joined the 'Brotherhood', before Gendry was taken by Melisandre to Stannis Baratheon. But this reunion was playful and flirtatious and both seemed rather content and happy to find each other alive. Arya also asked Gendry to make a weapon for her and I think it's the most romantic thing an assassin can ask her crush to make, especially if he happens to be a blacksmith. We're not sure yet what the weapon entails but we do know it has two pointy-ends, according to the design Arya handed over to Gendry. According to GoT's weapon master, Tommy Dunne, there's one creation in season 8, which is an absolute showstopper and I wonder if it's the weapon Gendry makes for Arya. (4) Arya Stark & Sandor Clegane aka The Hound © HBO Arya and The Hound have had a rather love-hate relationship but by the looks of it, The Hound is glad to see Arya alive and that's what he tells her too- "You're a cold hard bitch, aren't you? Guess, that's why you're still alive". The last time the two were seen together was in season 4, when a duel between The Hound and Brienne of Tarth left the Hound completely wounded. Arya escaped his companionship soon after, leaving him to die. (5) Jon Snow & Samwell Tarly © HBO With great difficulties, after escaping the Citadel, Samwell, Gilly and Little Sam come to Winterfell to fight for Snow. Sam learns about the death of his father and his brother by the hands of the queen and disappointed and dejected, he runs in to Jon, who he last saw at the Night's Watch. Their reunion is the most pivotal part of the show, as Sam reveals Jon's true identity, that he's not Ned Stark's son and neither is he a bastard. He is in fact Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen's legitimate child and the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. This scene surely gave us goosebumps! (6) Sansa Stark & Tyrion Lannister © HBO This is one of the most rewarding reunions in the episode as it was bound to happen and Tyrion had to see how Sansa has actually evolved. And he does notice that and states "I underestimated you". The two were last seen in season 4, at the memorable wedding of Joffrey with Margaery Tyrell, after which Sansa fled with Littelfinger. Their conversation is short-lived in this episode but quite impactful. It tells us Sansa has truly evolved and that she knows Cersei better than anyone else. Even her own brother. That's because while Tyrion is convinced Cersei is on their side and that the Lannister army will march to Winterfell, Sansa is well aware of her schemes and knows for certain Cersei won't do such a thing as she has her own motives and she tells Tyrion the same. (7) Yara Greyjoy & Theon Grejoy © HBO Their reunion wasn't an elaborate deal but it was surely something to look forward to. When Theon arrives to rescue Yara from Euron Greyjoy's clutches, she's relieved to see him alive but also gives him a mighty head-butt (because he abandoned her in the past), before giving him her hand to stand up again. The two flee and head towards the Iron Islands, a definite place where she can stand guard for the folks in the North, as the White-Walkers supposedly can never reach the Iron Islands. She figures Theon wants to go back to Winterfell and assist Snow in the war and she tells him to do just that. (8) Jaime Lannister & Bran Stark © HBO Leaving the best for the last, this one reunion was the most superimposing and anticipated one. The two obviously met in season one, where Bran, a little boy climbed one of the towers of Winterfell to find Jaime & Cersei in a, well, a compromising position. Fear of their relationship being revealed to the rest of the family, Jaime pushed Bran down the tower, making him loose both his legs. I am not sure what the two will even talk about, or if they ever will, but I have a feeling Bran will tell Jaime he isn't that little boy anymore and that he's the Three-Eyed-Raven and that it probably doesn't matter, hopefully forgiving Jaime?! Well, Jaime's character has been the most evolving one out of the lot, so maybe he should be forgiven. So, there you go! 8 most endearing, overwhelming yet strange reunions in the first episode of the final season. We're awaiting some more reunions by the second episode, namely Jon and the Night King. But we're not going to go more in to that. For now, let's just take a week or less to digest this episode first!
ADMIN posted a blog entry in FDF Online NewsIf there is something sweeter than scoring an extra time winner, it has to be reunions and rivalries. The better part of rivalries turns into controversies whereas reunions are celebrated and cherished. Since exceptions are always there, Luis Figo's hostile welcome at Camp Nou and the boos Angel Di Maria received at Old Trafford, are some of the few examples of the fact that reunions are not always a bed of roses. If you're still not over the 'Pogbrilliance' from last night, here are some thrilling reunions and rivalries to look forward to this week. 1. Tuesday - Liverpool vs Bayern Munich © Bavarian Football Works It cannot get bigger and better than this. Two European giants with 10 Champions League titles between them. Liverpool vs Bayern Munich at Anfield promises to be one of the games of the season. This match will see the reunion between a master and two of his apprentices - Jurgen Klopp and Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski. The German coach was responsible for bringing Lewandowski to Bundesliga and Mats Hummels to Borussia Dortmund. After the initial struggle, Klopp turned the Polish hitman into a phenom. He has now scored 193 Bundesliga goals and is just 2 behind the former Bayern Player Claudio Pizarro in terms of 'Most Goals Scored By A Non-German Player.' The former Mainz manager also transformed Hummels into one of the best defenders in the world, forcing Bayern Munich to buy him back from Dortmund. Lewandowski has come back to hurt Klopp on many occasions during latter's time at Die Borussen. It'll be amazing to see Klopp deal with the monsters he created. This match will also see Bayern come face to face with one of their treble winners in Xherdan Shaqiri, who has had an impressive start to the career at Anfield. 2. Wednesday - Atletico Madrid vs Juventus © therahnuma Atletico Madrid versus Juventus will see Cristiano Ronaldo meet his old foes. Currently the second best player in the world, Cristiano will meet Atletico for the first time since his move to Turin. It'll definitely prove to be a 'Clash Of The Titans' when the likes of Ronaldo, Dybala and Douglas Costa will take on Griezmann, Diego Costa and Thomas Lemar. For four years in a row, Ronaldo's Real Madrid ended Atletico's dreams of winning a UEFA Champions League title. Twice, those defeats came in the final of the competition in heartbreaking fashion. Just thinking about the reception he'll receive at Wanda Metropolitano sends chills down our spine. This match will also see Mario Mandzukic come up against his former employers. The Croatian who spent a season in the Spanish capital left after falling out with coach Diego Simeone. In other fixture, Manchester City will see golden boy, Leroy Sane, come up against his boyhood club, FC Schalke 04. Making it a night charged with emotions. 3. Thursday - Arsenal vs BATE Borisov © BBC Thursday will see Arsenal face BATE Borisov in the second leg of UEFA Europa League. To everybody's surprise, the Belarusian club came out on top in the first leg and will have a lead to defend during travel to North-London. What makes this match special is the return of former Arsenal player Alexander Hleb. His name might be the one that comes to mind when you think of the 2006 North-London outfit which came so close to winning the first Champions League trophy in club's history. But it was in Arsenal where the Belarusian played the best football of his career that eventually earned him a £12 million move to Pep Guardiola's Barcelona in the summer of 2008. It'll mark the return of a cult hero. 4. Saturday - Sevilla vs Barcelona © Inquirer In the race to La Liga title, Barcelona will face Sevilla in a tricky away fixture. Tricky because the last time Barca played Sevilla at Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, the home side ran out 2-0 winners in Copa Del Rey, only to be hammered away 6-1 by the Catalan club a week later. Though Barca leads Sevilla by 17 points in the points table, any slip-ups here will allow direct rivals Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid to cut short the lead and pile the pressure on Barcelona. 5. Sunday - Manchester United vs Liverpool © BBC Super Sunday! The final day of this exhausting week full of football will see four of the top six Premier League sides in action. Firstly, it'll be the North-West Derby. With Liverpool coming to Old Trafford and aiming to go on top of the Premier League table, Manchester United will do whatever they can in order to not let that happen. This derby can prove to be the biggest of them all in recent years, with United having a say in Liverpool's title bid. Any result of helping the neighbours Manchester City will be favoured by United faithful in order to disrupt Scousers' title dream. 6. Sunday - Manchester City vs Chelsea © Ronaldo Secondly, after 6-0 drubbing last week, Chelsea will face Manchester City in the English League Cup final at Wembley. After a dismal run of form, Chelsea has slipped to fifth in the Premier League Table. A win here will prove to be a morale booster for London club in an otherwise shambolic season. Manchester City is definite favourites for the final and this could prove to be the first step towards the unprecedented quadruple. Other Fixtures: . Lyon vs Barcelona . Chelsea vs Malmo
