  1. Ahsan Iqbal says government has planned to establish a state-of-the-art teacher's training centre in Islamabad
  2. After what felt like a lifetime of waiting, Shah Rukh Khan’s next film, Pathaan was officially announced yesterday (2nd March), with King Khan declaring 25th January 2024 as the release date. It’s only natural that Bollywood and Shah Rukh fans are already hyping up for it. View this post on Instagram Pathaan will be directed by Siddharth Anand, and a few other names besides Shah Rukh’s to be associated with this massive project are John Abraham and Deepika Padukone. With such names associated with Pathaan, the expectations from the film are already sky-high, with people already expecting it to take the Box Office by storm. However, not everyone echoes that sentiment. Popular celebrity troll (self-proclaimed film critic), Kamaal R Khan has already forecasted his unsolicited predictions on the film, calling it a potential disaster, while also taking the moment to take generous potshots at Shah Rukh Khan. KRK tweeted, “Ab #Akki Ka Deshbhakti Ka Bhoot #SRK par Bhi Chadha hai. So now he is going to save the country. Lol! Are you people joking? If SRK wants to save the country, then he should go on border to fight with Chinese military instead of giving fake gyaan in the theatre. #Pathaan.” Ab #Akki Ka Deshbhakti Ka Bhoot #SRK par Bhi Chadha hai. So now he is going to save the country. Lol! Are you people joking? If SRK wants to save the country, then he should go on border to fight with Chinese military instead of giving fake gyaan in the theatre. #Pathaan — KRK (@kamaalrkhan) March 3, 2022 KRK’s prediction was countered by an SRK fan who augured that Pathaan would go on to collect 300 crores in 5 days, to which the former replied, “Last 9 years Se #SRK Ke Bhakts Yahi Kahte Aa Rahe hain. Aur SRK Ek Ke Baad Ek disaster Deta Jaa Raha Hai. Iss Baar Bhi Kuch Alag Nahi Hoga. Ek Aur Dabba #Pathaan is on the way.” He continued his Twitter tirade, with a final prediction, “Prediction 62- #Pathaan will be a sure shot disaster. It will be much bigger flop than #TOH. If it won’t be a disaster, then I will stop reviewing films.” Prediction 62- #Pathaan will be a sure shot disaster. It will be much bigger flop than #TOH. If it won’t be a disaster, then I will stop reviewing films. — KRK (@kamaalrkhan) March 3, 2022 Well, one thing is for sure: If Pathaan falls flat at the box office, then Kamaal R Khan would be swift to claim a victory for his prediction. However, on the odd chance that the movie becomes a hit, then don’t expect KRK to stick to his word and do the world a favour by stopping his film reviews. View the full article

  8. On World Social Media Day, letâs talk about how the internet has become an integral part of our lives today. Be it expressing oneâs opinion on on-going issues, sharing information to help people on a mass scale or even making ridiculous videos just for the heck of it, days without social media seem to be impossible to bear. This transformation has taken place over the past decade with people beginning to understand its true potential in the early 2010s and capitalising (some even abusing) it by 2019-2020. But before the era of digital media began to catch pace, there were certain individuals, certain members of the international cricketing fraternity who made it to Twitter well ahead of everyone else but werenât too sure of what to do once they were there. Here are the first tweets shared by international cricketers: Virat Kohli@yuvsingh09 Aiieeeeeee me too me too â Virat Kohli (@imVkohli) September 4, 2009 Yes, Virat Kohliâs first tweet was a clearly excited reply to Yuvraj Singh who was looking forward to a match. Looking forward...cheers â Anil Kumble (@anilkumble1074) October 17, 2014 Back in 2014, when former Indian head coach Anil Kumble entered the big bad world of Twitter, he wasnât too sure of how itâd help him. A couple of years later, he would drop a bomb on the same social media platform, presenting his resignation as coach publicly, while putting Kohli under spotlight. Photo: Geo News file ISLAMABAD: A cabinet committee to review names of the people on the Exit Control List (ECL) was formed on Wednesday, sources informed Geo News. 13. ISLAMABAD: Minister of Defence Khurram Dastagir, following a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) on Tuesday, said that the committee has been reviewing negative statements by US officials, including President Donald Trump, for the past few months. The minister, in an interview with BBC Urdu, said that Tuesday's meeting of the NSC observed that 'better results can be yielded if all the stake-holders cooperate and jointly struggle for peace in Afghanistan and fight against terror, instead of achieving objectives through negative statements'. He further said that "straightforward talks will be held with the US, yet in a courteous manner". Dastagir said if Trump only understands the 'language of dollars', then not only did we invest our own resources in the war on terror but did not demand anything in return for it, for we are serious in eradicating terrorism. Asked if Pakistan would demand an apology from the US over the statements, he said Trump is the elected president of the United States and so we take his tweets seriously, however, the matter has not yet gone that far. NSC session expressed its disappointment over US President Donald Trump's anti-Pakistan statement and decided not to take measures in haste in reply to US accusations. A statement added that during visits by US officials, it was decided to move forward with mutual trust and cooperation, which would also lead to stability in Afghanistan. Pakistan also voiced its support for the Afghan government's efforts for peace, with the NSC agreeing that peace in Afghanistan is not only linked to peace and stability in the region but also important for peace in the world. Referring to the international coalition operating in Afghanistan, the Pakistani leadership stated that the country, even today, is helping the coalition. The committee further said Pakistan's anti-terrorism operations have wiped out al-Qaeda from the region. The NSC also said that the Pakistani nation knows how to defend itself and vowed to continue efforts for stability in the region, adding that the country fought the war on terror with its limited economy and resources.
  14. YouTube star Ryan. Photo: YouTube At just six years of age, a boy named Ryan has become a multi-millionaire by reviewing toys, according to Forbes list of highest-paid YouTube stars. Ever since the boy was three years old his parents have been capturing videos of him dismantling toys, playing with them and reviewing them, stated Washington Post. Ryan?s parents posted the videos on their YouTube channel, Ryan ToysReview. An international news outlet reported that Ryan?s channel took off after a video of him opening and reviewing a toy went viral. Ryan?s parents are putting the YouTube earnings into a college savings account for their boy and a trust fund for him and his twin sisters Emma and Kate, reports stated. The child has achieved what many adults are struggling for on YouTube, an American video-sharing website. Ryan has become the world?s eighth YouTube celebrity in the list of Forebes? annual report. According to reports, Ryan?s YouTube channel has earned about $11 million in 2017.
  15. I find a lot of YouTubers annoying, but this one might be an exception. It's a little kid, having the time of his life playing with toys. So adorable, so wholesome. Recently, we've seen so many controversies about kids being bullied and mistreated by their parents in YouTube videos, and they should all learn something from Ryan's parents. It's a kid being a kid, talking about his favourite toys, and trying out new toys. Now, this is the kind of quality content everyone should put up. © Ryan ToysReviews For kids out there, Ryan is not just some stranger on the internet, he is their friend. Since he was 3 years old, Ryan's parents have been capturing videos of him opening toys, playing with them and “reviewing” them for videos posted on their YouTube channel 'Ryan ToysReview'. His parents direct and produce the videos, and originally started the channel back in 2015. But, what made 'Ryan ToysReviews' take off was a viral video in July 2015. The viral video that triggered such a drastic viewership was of Ryan reviewing a 'Giant Egg Surprise' box containing over 100 toys from Pixar's 'Cars' animated movie series. As of now, the video has over 800 million views. While most of us can just dream of becoming a millionaire one day, Ryan has already achieved that at the age of 6. According to Forbes' annual list of the highest-earning YouTube celebrities, Ryan's channel has generated close to $11 million in pre-tax income in 2017. He's ranked at number 8, and has tied with the comedy channel Smosh, created by Anthony Padilla and Ian Hecox. © Ryan ToysReviews The channel, which has around 10 million subscribers now, shows reviews of new toys or kids' food products, and the videos usually feature earnest and enthusiastic commentary from Ryan with off-camera guidance from his parents. Ryan is an inspiration for all of us. If a 6-year-old can become a multimillionaire doing what he loves, then we can do too.
  16. A board shows the logo of Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Image Courtesy: CBC News via Canadian Press/Sean Kilpatrick OTTAWA: Canada's tax agency on Monday began poring over papers leaked from the offshore law firm Appleby for any evidence of Canadians having used tax havens to evade paying taxes in this country. According to public broadcaster CBC, the names of roughly 3,300 Canadian companies, trusts, foundations, and individuals appear in the so-called Paradise Papers, including Stephen Bronfman ? Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's close family friend and chief fundraiser. "The CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) is reviewing links to Canadian entities and will take appropriate action in regards to the Paradise Papers," John Power ? the spokesman for Revenue Minister Diane Lebouthillier ? said. In a statement, the CRA said it has been actively pursuing tax evasion and avoidance, saying these are "multi-billion issues". It currently has 990 audits and more than 42 criminal investigations related to offshore accounts underway. The CBC is a partner of the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which revealed how the rich and multinationals avoid taxes using offshore wealth hubs, including Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross. The ICIJ was behind the similar Panama Papers made public last year. Trudeau has made tax fairness a centrepiece of his political messaging. But while his calls to tax the rich have resonated with voters, the ICIJ said its trove of secret documents suggests Claridge ? Bronfman's private investment company ? "quietly helped move millions of dollars offshore" in order to possibly avoid taxes. Bronfman's godfather Leo Kolber, who was also implicated in the alleged scheme, raised funds for Trudeau's father when he was prime minister. In a statement, Bronfman denied the allegations, saying he "has never funded nor used offshore trusts." "His Canadian trusts," he added, "have paid all taxes on all their income to the Canadian government." Refuting allegations linking him to a US$60 million transfer to a Kolber family trust in the Cayman Islands, Bronfman said the sum was a "single loan" more than 25 years ago and was made "in full compliance with all legal requirements, including with respect to taxes". These assurances, however, failed to quell opposition attacks on the government. "Justin Trudeau's priority was really tax fairness," said Conservative finance critic Pierre Polievre. "It's very curious that he's done nothing to go after the mega-millionaires who stuff their money in foreign tax havens in order to avoid Canadian tax." New Democratic Party parliamentary leader Guy Caron accused the Trudeau Liberals of "making it easier for their friends to place their money in offshore accounts? and not pay their fair share".
  17. PCB Chairman Najam Sethi while speaking to media on October 31, 2017. Photo: Geo News screen grab LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board Chairperson Najam Sethi shared that it is currently being reviewed if the final of Pakistan Super League season three will be held in Karachi or not. While speaking to media, Sethi remarked that discussions are being held pertaining to PSL season three. It was also advised that two playoffs of PSL should be held in Lahore, he shared. The schedule of West Indies tour of Pakistan will be announced in coming days, PCB chairman shared on Tuesday. When asked if India will play in under 19 tournament, Sethi replied: ?I don?t know if India will play in Pakistan or not. If India doesn?t, it can forfeit the match.? However, the tournament will for sure be held in Pakistan, he added. On the other hand, Director Cricket Operations Haroon Rashid remarked that only Quaid-e-Azam Tournament shouldn?t be counted as domestic cricket. Speaking about the necessity of hosting international matches and teams, he said that it would considerably reduce the financial burden from the cricket board. ?When we play with other countries in their home grounds, it meant us having to reciprocate that. However, many international players did not want to come to Pakistan. Now, that the country?s security situation has improved, we are trying that at least juniors teams come play in Pakistan,? he explained. On October 27, reports emerged that PCB is still waiting for a final word from Cricket West Indies (CWI) on the proposed tour of Pakistan by the West Indies team for a series of three T20Is. A source in PCB had confirmed to Geo.tv that PCB has sent the proposed itinerary and the related plans to the CWI and the board is now waiting for the final approval. ?We are hoping for a reply from them by Wednesday,? the source had remarked. A joint statement from PCB and CWI had stated that Cricket West Indies and Pakistan Cricket Board were advancing discussions that would see the West Indies team play three T20 matches against Pakistan in Lahore in late November. However, the statement then had said that the proposed tour will be subject to the ICC World XI team's visit to Pakistan and affirmation of manageable security by ICC-sponsored security experts.
  18. Amazon.com said it was reviewing its website after an investigation found that it could help users buy the ingredients to make a bomb. Photo: File LONDON: Amazon.com said on Wednesday it was reviewing its website after an investigation found that it could help users buy the ingredients to make a bomb using its ?Frequently bought together? and ?Customers who bought this also bought? features. Britain?s Channel 4 News found the online retailer?s algorithm was suggesting items that could be bought together to produce explosives on Monday, days after an apparently home-made bomb was detonated on the London Underground network. The ingredients, which are legal to purchase, were included in a ?Frequently bought together? section in the listings for chemicals, the broadcaster said. Other materials that could be used in bomb-making were available on the site, and some of them were suggested on the same page as the chemicals in the ?Customers who bought this item also bought? section, Channel 4 said. ?All products sold on Amazon must adhere to our selling guidelines and we only sell products that comply with UK laws,? the company said in a statement. ?In light of recent events, we are reviewing our website to ensure that all these products are presented in an appropriate manner.? The company said it would also continue to work closely with police and law enforcement agencies when circumstances arise where we can assist their investigations. The explosion of what appeared to be a home-made bomb on a London Underground train on Friday injured 30 people. Pictures on social media after the attack showed what appeared to be a device contained in a white plastic bucket. It engulfed the railway carriage in flames, although it appeared that it did not fully explode.
  19. ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Wednesday said that the Foreign Office will issue a statement on the Kulbushan Jhadav case in the next few days. “We are analysing the Indian petition and the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) authority [on the case],” Aziz said. According to a press release issued on Tuesday from The Hague-based ICJ, India requested the United Nations' judicial organ to provide relief "by way of immediate suspension of the sentence of death awarded to the accused." Read more: India moves ICJ against RAW agent Kulbhushan Jadhav death sentence Jadhav alias Hussein Mubarak Patel was arrested on March 3, 2016, through a Counter-Intelligence Operation from Mashkel area of Balochistan for his involvement in espionage and sabotage actives in Pakistan. India contended that it was not granted consular access to Jadhav, which was in violation of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. India also claimed that it learned about the death sentence by way of a press release. According to reports furnished in Indian media, the ICJ has stayed Kulbhushan Jadhav’s death sentence. Pakistani officials, according to sources, responded that they do not know of any such decision. Without hearing the other party (Pakistan, in this case), no such decision by the ICJ would be applicable to Pakistan, the officials were quoted as saying. Jadhav, a serving Indian Navy officer and an on-duty RAW operative, was arrested on March 3, 2016, through a counter-intelligence operation from Mashkel area of Balochistan. He confessed to his involvement in subversive activities in Pakistan in a video statement last year. Indian citizen Uzma’s case The adviser discussed the ongoing issue of the Indian citizen, Uzma, who claimed that a Pakistani man forced to marry her on gunpoint and subjected her to abuse. “The problem is not related to Uzma’s travel documents, but stems from legal issues,” Aziz stated, adding that the Indian citizen will be sent back to India once the legal problems are resolved. Border tensions with Afghanistan “Daesh has slowed down the process of establishing peace in Afghanistan,” the Foreign Affairs adviser said while speaking to members of the media on Wednesday. Aziz talked to journalists after addressing a seminar on peace restoration. “We have one stance – that Pakistan’s peace is directly dependent on that of Afghanistan,” he stressed, adding that the nation –despite being a victim of terrorism itself – has always been sincere in its efforts to maintain peaceful ties with its neighbour. Aziz mentioned how border management with Afghanistan is a pertinent issue, considering the close linkages between the two countries. Read more: Pakistan`s role most important in peace process: Chief Executive Afghanistan “Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad was also started to fight and eliminate terrorists. [Now] the incumbent Afghan administration also needs to conduct operations to eliminate Daesh and Taliban,” he said while commenting on efforts initiated by the two nations. He reasoned that all acts of terrorism in the recent past were planned in Afghanistan. Aziz went on to highlight Pakistan’s supportive efforts towards Afghanistan, which has been provided financial aid worth $500 million. “A visa process has been commenced for the Afghan refugees in Pakistan; we also awarded scholarships to Afghan students,” he commented. In addition, “a transit trade meeting with Afghanistan will be held soon,” Aziz added.
