India concluded with 199 for two in 20 overs after Ishan struck a remarkable 98 and Shreyas Iyer smashed a scorching 28-ball 57. Sri Lanka responded by failing to get off to a good start after Bhuveshwar Kumar took two powerplay wickets to put them to two down. After that, the guests were limited to 137 for six. Venkatesh Iyer added two more wickets to his total, while Yuzvendra Chahal took one. View this post on Instagram With a potential win on Saturday, India would complete a hat-trick of T20I series victories and reach the century mark in the format. In the format, India's skipper Rohit Sharma has 15 victories in 16 home matches, tying him with England's Eoin Morgan and New Zealand's Kane Williamson. With a win in Dharamsala, Rohit will become the T20I skipper with the most home victories ever. At home, Rohit has two more victories than Virat Kohli and five more than MS Dhoni among Indian captains. In his career as a T20I captain, Rohit has 22 victories in 24 games. The victory will give India their 11th consecutive win under his leadership, as well as their third consecutive series triumph since taking over as full-time captain of the format in November 2021. Even though 2021 wasn’t what we expected, it did bring about a set of grooming trends that we absolutely loved. In fact, some of these trends are so good that we only hope to see more of them next year. Nail paints, makeup and what not, this year taught us to embrace our choices with open arms and not let stereotypes define us. Here are five of the best grooming trends of this year. 1. Long Hairstyles © Instagram/Kartik Aaryan Long hairstyles started trending after the salons were shut during the first lockdown. While we saw our favourite celebrities embracing their long hair, we couldn’t help but fall in love with this trend yet again this year. Loose curls, layered waves or braids, long hairstyles surely became a much loved grooming trend. __ECOMPRODUCT__2924__ 2. The Indian cricket team that is set to embark on a challenging tour of South Africa suffered a massive blow as Rohit Sharma was ruled out of the red-ball leg of the tour due to a last-moment hamstring injury. © Reuters The stylish opener was one of the standout performers for India in England and many had expected him to deliver the goods in the Rainbow Nation as well. Even the selectors had entrusted him with the greater responsibilities, appointing him as the new vice-captain of the red-ball squad. Luckily, there are enough options available for the opening slot and finding his replacement shouldn’t be an uphill task. While the selectors have named Priyank Panchal as Rohit’s injury replacement, Mayank Agarwal who scored a terrific hundred in the Mumbai Test against New Zealand is most likely to open the batting alongside KL Rahul. NEWS - Priyank Panchal replaces injured Rohit Sharma in India's Test squad. Rohit sustained a left hamstring injury during his training session here in Mumbai yesterday. He has been ruled out of the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa.#SAvIND | @PKpanchal9 pic.twitter.com/b8VgoN52LW — BCCI (@BCCI) December 13, 2021 While the BCCI is claiming that Rohit sustained the injury during a training session but according to a Times of India report, he suffered a minor hand injury during nets but that wasn’t the reason why he was missing the Test series. Now nobody knows when and how Rohit got injured. He led the side in the home T20I series against New Zealand and guided them to a 3-0 clean sweep, after which he was rested from the following Test series. © Reuters The last time he turned up for India, he did not suffer any injury and was operating completely fine. How did he get injured at the last moment just before entering the team bio-bubble in Mumbai? The question is now being asked of the selectors how they can have no idea about a player’s physical condition, especially ahead of an important series like this one. © Reuters Ever since Rohit was named India’s new ODI skipper, Kohli’s fans have left no opportunity to pull the opener down and they did the same after this news broke out. Rather than sympathising with India’s new ODI captain, some fans mocked his fitness and vented out their frustration against him. Some even felt that he wasn’t good enough to lead a team in two formats because his fitness was always going to be a big cause of concern. © Reuters Rohit and Kohli haven’t played together after the T20 World Cup and some fans even believed that the two ‘alpha males’ have drifted apart from each other after the recent captaincy change and are trying to avoid facing each other. Not just Rohit’s fitness, some Kohli supporters even dug up the former’s record on South African soli and claimed that he used this injury as an excuse to save himself from another embarrassment. Imagine if he gets injured like this during any ICC tournament?? — gullycricket (@cricket_meme_r) December 13, 2021It’s true that Rohit’s Test record in South Africa hasn’t been great but that was the case in almost every overseas nation prior to this year. The 34-year-old batter has transformed his game in the last year or so and established himself as one of the main assets for Team India across formats. It’s sad that Kohli fans are celebrating his injury but, somewhere deep down, they also know that Rohit was arguably India’s best batters in the format and his injury will definitely hurt India’s chances of winning a Test series in South Africa.
