  1. Suresh Raina is one of the most-loved cricketers in the country and his popularity levels are still high despite him announcing his retirement from international cricket last year, alongside his mentor MS Dhoni. He is among the most active cricketers on social media and fans always love to get candid with the southpaw through his Twitter or Instagram posts. © Twitter Chennai Super Kings However, the last few weeks haven’t been good for the former Indian cricketer because of his statements which have caused massive controversy on the internet. First, he was slammed for saying he would quit Indian Premier League if MS Dhoni was not there which drew massive criticism from his die-hard fans, who questioned where his individuality was. © Instagram Suresh Raina Now, days later, another statement of his has stirred an even bigger controversy and this time, he is being slammed for mentioning his caste while answering a question on live TV. View this post on Instagram The left-handed batsman was on-air during the opening match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) and was asked about his experience of embracing the Chennai culture over the years. Nicknamed ‘Chinna Thala’ by passionate CSK supporters, Raina began his answer by saying “I am also Brahmin” and added that he had been playing in Chennai since 2004. I have been playing since 2004 in Chennai, I love the culture… I love my teammates. I have played with Anirudha Srikanth, Badri (Subramaniam Badrinath), Bala Bhai (L Balaji)… I think you need to learn something good from there. We have a good administration, we have the license to explore ourselves. I love the culture there, and I’m lucky to be part of CSK. Hopefully, we will play more matches there,” Raina said. @ImRaina you should be ashamed yourself. It seems that you have never experienced real Chennai culture though you have been playing many years for Chennai team. https://t.co/ZICLRr0ZLh — Suresh (@suresh010690) July 19, 2021What the heck @ImRaina sir.. you shouldn’t use that word ….. https://t.co/v8AD1Cp0fT pic.twitter.com/TltPoMbYec — udayyyyyy 🏻‍🏻‍🏻‍️ (@uday0035) July 19, 2021Some irrelevant reply by Raina… — Arun Kumar Mahalingam (@Arunkm1980) July 20, 2021@ImRaina Hello, Brahmins are not representative of Chennai. They even chided him for unnecessarily mentioning his caste while replying to a question that had no need for it. View this post on Instagram Raina has represented Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League in all but two seasons when the franchise was banned for corruption. He has been a key player for the Chennai-based outfit and played a key role in their all three title triumphs. View the full article
  2. The trailer of Farhan Akhtar’s sports drama piqued the interest of the viewers and people have now finally got to see the movie as it has been streaming online. The film follows the story of a former sports star rising from the ashes and proving to the world that nothing can stop him from achieving his dreams. Farhan plays the role of a local goon, Aziz Ali, whose life changes when he meets the love of his life, Ananya played by Mrunal Thakur. She pushes him to follow boxing and he soon becomes a star in the ring. He is at the peak of his boxing career when a twist in his fate pushes him down. Paresh Rawal plays the role of Nana Prabhu who trains Aziz Ali. Since the movie has been streaming online for a while now, people have been sharing their opinions on social media. There were people who weren’t pleased by the fact the movie was predictable and also questioned the ideology behind the Love-Jihad angle. Some people also felt that the script wasn’t up to the mark. © Twitter © Twitter However, a lot of people have appreciated Farhan's hard work as they were impressed by his massive transformation. They are saying that Farhan has inspired them once again in Toofaan after Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. People have also been hailing the performances by the lead actors. They think Farhan, Mrunal, and Paresh have put their best foot forward. © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter In an interview earlier, Farhan had revealed what attracted him to pick up this character. He'd said, “His emotional, mental and spiritual journey attracted me to the character. Boxing is very exciting and makes for great viewing in movies. I always have been a fan of boxing films. Beyond that, there has to be substance and the drama has to be correct. In this film, the relationship that Aziz Ali has with Paresh Ji or Mrunal’s character is something that managed to strike a chord with me. If you ask me personally, the growth of Aziz Ali and his coach's character is the heart and soul of the film. The journey of these two characters defines Toofan. This is what excited me.” Have you watched the movie yet? Let us know how you liked it in the comments below. View the full article
  3. The friendship between Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni is no secret, and it’s something that's hard to find in this day and age. They wore the same colours and shared the same dressing room for the majority of their career, be it at the international level or franchise cricket. If there is one pair that can be equated to the ‘Jai and Veeru’ version of Indian cricket -- it’s definitely Dhoni and Raina and no one even comes close. View this post on Instagram They began their international career around the same time and ended it on exactly the same date -- August 15, 2020. While Dhoni’s decision was a long time coming, nobody saw Raina following in the footsteps of his mentor and announcing his retirement at the age of 33. Back then, it was hailed as a 'brave' decision and a gesture of true friendship. Now, the southpaw has announced that he’ll also retire if Dhoni doesn’t feature in the next year’s Indian Premier League, which has left many hardcore-Raina fans disappointed. © Instagram/Suresh Raina First of all, as per CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan, Dhoni isn’t going anywhere, at least for next year or a two, but even if he does decide to retire one should not forget that the guy turned 40 just a few days back and, barring a few exceptions, we don’t see many players playing at the highest level at this age. Raina, on the other hand, is only 34 and clearly has three-four years of cricket left in him, if not not more. While fans accepted his decision to retire from international cricket with Dhoni, they weren’t ready for such a shock and described it as more stupidity than loyalty: he's not a kid wtf — s. (@swechchhaha) July 9, 2021There's a thin line between loyalty and stupidity lol — jyoo. (@icetheticstarxx) July 9, 2021Suresh is mad , I Love & respect Suresh so much U wanna be devotee but not like that. Suresh still had so many years of international cricket left in him. He is 34 and easily can play a full 3 year cycle of franchise cricket and maybe even more. And what is he working so hard on his fitness for? To retire when MSD retires? — Ravi Sutharsan (@RaviSutharsan) July 9, 2021That's nice but shouldn't he have his own individuality..? Why is he depending on Dhoni for all the major career decisions? — Pavan Nataraj (@Pavan_Nataraj) July 9, 2021Bhai apne liye aur desh k liye khelta h ya dhoni k liye — . (@Himansh52450968) July 9, 2021Chamcha in true sense. Why he have to do that ? Retired from international cricket immediately after dhoni retired and now this. I mean can't he take his own decisions ? Yeah respect for dhoni is one thing but doing chamchagiri and showing to world !!What are you trying to prove. — Farhan (@1farhan0) July 9, 2021Firstly I don't get when he takes retirement from international cricket when he had a potienal to play atleast T20 for team India 2-4 years.. and now this he must be play for csk atleast 2-3 years so they can make build strong csk squad for future... #csk #SureshRaina #IPL — Prateek🇮🇳 (@Prateek_V_45) July 9, 2021Kuch jyada hi selfless hai — Rocky Johnson (@BeingChetan__) July 9, 2021Friendship is ok but this is too much. There are many who likes you, not everyone always like your friendship, first you retired from intl. cricket, if you haven't retired then you might have captained the Ind team now SL. Please don't at least simply waste ur career in IPL. — _______| Rohan |________ (@cricketr_rohan) July 9, 2021 But then there were also some fans who argued that every player has the right to decide when to retire and Raina shouldn’t be judged if decided to call it quits along with Dhoni: This is some next-level Friendship. — Aditya Saha (@adityakumar4800) July 9, 2021Sometimes I Feel How Innocent Raina Is.He Wanted To Comeback In Indian Team For T20 Worldcups But When Dhoni Announced Retirement He Also Retired & Now He Want To Do Same In IPL.For some People It Might Look Stupidity. But It's Raina's Respect & Love For His Best Friend Dhoni ️. — The Lonely Soul (@Rushikesh_8293) July 9, 2021I can't understand why there is so much of hate comments towards Raina's decision. Cz first of all Dhoni isn't retiring next year he'll be playing for next 2-3 years..and second it's his decision to play or not to play or when to play or where to play. No hate. no offence ️️️ — Hardik Tari (@HardikTari) July 9, 2021 While no one knows what the future has in store for CSK and its hugely passionate fanbase, one thing that’s certain is that the Chennai-based outfit, who were in the second position when the league was suspended, have a real shot at winning their fourth IPL title when the tournament resumes in September in the UAE. 4. After Cristiano Ronaldo pulled the Coco-Cola stunt, he became a part of a massive meme fest on Twitter. On Wednesday, Portugal won against Hungary at the Euro 2020 cup. But aside from that, the topic of conversation was the two bottles of Coco-Cola that Ronaldo kept aside during the conference, despite the brand being a sponsor for the event. Instead, he raised a bottle of water and said 'Drink water.' © Twitter/Amrita Rao_FC Recently though, Cristiano was also criticised for promoting Coco-Cola in one of his previous ads. The old video resurfaced on the internet and left everyone stunned. Cristiano was seen promoting Coco-Cola and was also a part of a KFC ad, which is in opposition to the notoriously strict diet plan that he follows. But as they say, the show must go on, and Indian fans came forward and turned this whole scenario into a rib-tickling meme. #Ronaldo removes #CocaCola from Press Conference table and showed up #Aqua (water bottle). 5. Watermelon is a summer fruit that is available aplenty around this time. And, there are so many ways you can relish this sweet and juicy fruit. For example, you can chop it and use it in a fruit salad or make a mocktail (or summer cocktail), the list goes on. However, we are sure you couldn’t have thought of having it as an appetiser, with a dip or tangy sauce. © iStock If you are into weird food combos, you are going to love this one trend that’s been doing the rounds on the internet. Apparently, a food blogger Young Yuh shared a video where had a slice of watermelon with yellow mustard sauce, claiming it was “so good.” © Instagram Soon enough it went viral as a TikTok challenge and everyone was found chopping up a juicy watermelon and squeezing a generous amount of mustard sauce on it. A lot of people tried it including celebrities like Hilary Duff and Lizzo. © Instagram The reactions are mostly mixed with some people finding it disgusting and others settling for “not bad”. An Instagram user who took the food challenge wrote,”Ok I did it. Not mad at it at all. The mustard took away the sweetness of the watermelon Try it.” Another reviewed the trend saying, I tried it. I didn’t spit it out. I almost choked because the watermelon was juicy and then mustard tartness on top of that. Will I do again? I don’t know. It wasn’t terrible, it just wasn’t mind blowing.” I tried the mustard on watermelon and it’s wasn’t horrible I also dip my fries in mayonnaise & bbq sauce 🥴 — Shashana 🇺🇸 (@Shashana80sKid) June 9, 2021Tried the mustard on watermelon trend and it’s actually not that bad. 7. Chai is not a beverage for Indians. It is an emotion. Anything can be better with a steamy cup of tea to get you through it. He went on to say that he had no idea if there was a prescription. Earlier, Siddharth had claimed that he knew Rhea Chakraborty but later on, he denied knowing her personally. 10. WhatsApp has finally taken legal action in Delhi against the Indian Government seeking to block the new media rules and regulations coming into force today. The new rules would compel WhatsApp to break privacy protections. © Unsplash/rachit-tank-lZBs The lawsuit was unearthed by Reuters and it asks the Delhi High Court to declare that one of the rules is a direct violation of privacy rights in India’s constitution. The new rules require WhatsApp to identify the “first originator of information” when authorities demand it. At the moment, the law only requires WhatsApp to identify people credibly accused of any wrongdoing. However, the new rules would force WhatsApp to break encryption for its users as well as “originators” of messages. WhatsApp uses end-to-end encryption which protects the privacy of its users. “Requiring messaging apps to “trace” chats is the equivalent of asking us to keep a fingerprint of every single message sent on WhatsApp, which would break end-to-end encryption and fundamentally undermines people’s right to privacy,” a WhatsApp spokesperson said in a statement. “We have consistently joined civil society and experts around the world in opposing requirements that would violate the privacy of our users. In the meantime, we will also continue to engage with the Government of India on practical solutions aimed at keeping people safe, including responding to valid legal requests for the information available to us.” If companies and media outlets do not comply with the new rules, they could face criminal penalties. WhatsApp had no choice but to file a legal action in court to oppose the new rules put forth by the Indian Government. © Unsplash/asterfolio It is worth pointing out that social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp and Instagram may face a block in the country if they do not comply with the new Intermediary Guidelines set by the Indian government. The deadline to accept the guidelines ends on May 25th. None of the social media giants have complied with the order as of now, but Facebook had said it aims to comply with the new rules. However, the social media giant added that it needs more engagement with the government on a few issues. “Facebook remains committed to people's ability to freely and safely express themselves on our platform,” the spokesperson added. 11. As if we already didn't have enough problems on our plate, a new disease seems to have arrived called the Black fungus. The country's medical experts now have to grapple with yet another life-threatening health problem. It is said that this fungal infection has a 50% mortality rate. We aren't trying to scare you but it says that the disease starts with the nose and then spreads to the brain. It can be treated by major surgery. © iStock Even though it's a rare disease, India has reported at least 7,200 diagnosed with the infection and around 219 have died until now. This infection is usually found in soil and organic matter. It is caused by fungal spores and when inhaled by humans, it can cause the nose to turn black. It can spread faster with compromised immunity and can be fatal. So far, many states including Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan etc witnessed black fungus cases. Hence it has been declared an epidemic. © YouTube/Wion Amid the rising cases, now there's a case of yellow fungus as well, which is said to be more dangerous than the black or white fungus. This is the first case and has been reported in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. The symptoms of this disease include having a low appetite, feeling lethargic etc. Some of its other symptoms include leakage of pus. It can also lead to organ failure, sunken eyes and finally to necrosis. © iStock It is advised that as soon as one notices these symptoms, they should seek professional help. The treatment of this disease is with an antifungal drug called Amphotericin B injection. This disease is mostly due to poor hygiene. Now that we are all indoors, it's recommended that you keep the surroundings clean. Discard any expired food items to prevent fungal and bacterial growth. Humidity inside the house can encourage the fungus to grow further. Criticizing the Centre for not supplying enough vaccines to cater to the needs of Indian capital New Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's government had earlier stated that it will try negotiating with the vaccine producers themselves in order to procure foreign vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. © Reuters However, Kejriwal on Monday (May 24) said that both United States pharmaceutical giants Pfizer and Moderna had made it clear that they would not be selling the vaccines directly to Delhi. #COVID19Vaccine pic.twitter.com/i7ZV36QQFU — NDTV (@ndtv) May 24, 2021 "We've spoken to Pfizer and Moderna for vaccines, and both the manufacturers have refused to sell vaccines directly to us. "We appeal to the centre to import vaccines and distribute to the states," he added. © PTI Kejriwal's failure to go ahead with a vaccine deal comes a day after Moderna had refused to sell vaccines to the Punjab state as well. According to officials, Punjab Chief Captain Amarinder Singh had gotten in touch with foreign vaccine developers in order to conclude a deal for direct purchases of the vaccine, however, it was all in vain as Moderna rejected such a deal. © Istock Kejriwal, who was recently called out by the Singapore government for falsely linking a new Covid strain to the island country, has already come under fire for the oxygen crisis in New Delhi which led to the loss of many lives in the city. 13. Most of us have given a new spin to Maggi noodles, especially during the lockdown with more time to experiment. Be it cheese Maggi or Maggi sprinkled with oregano, some versions worked out for the best. But amid the lockdown, since there was a lot of time to kill, many people went from basic to bizarre. © iStock Every now and then, the internet shows us some weird combinations made with Maggi, which made us gag hard. So, if you think that 'Maggi Pani Puri' was the only bizarre fusion food, here are 7 disastrous Maggi combinations that made us feel downright sick: 1. Chocolate Maggi © Twitter/RahulAdhikari If there was a way I could unsee this image, I would. No combination can be worst than mixing Maggi with chocolate. Thank god for my tongue, I never tasted this myself. This combination legit made someone on Twitter say 'This is the worst form of terrorism'. Totally agree with that. 2. Maggi With Curd © Twitter/acnymph The moment you read this point and felt nauseous, I felt the same when I looked at this recipe. This post went viral on Twitter and the user wrote 'Maggi and curd is food for the soul'. OMG! 3. Bizzare Maggi Ladoo © Twitter/Zenia Irani Never ever try this recipe, I repeat, never. Another unusual edible experiment was turning Maggi into ladoos. To make this, one needs raw Maggi and other items like jaggery, cardamom powder and butter. If you like the spicy version (still bearable), they are called 'Maggi pakoras'. Tastebuds are severely confused now. 4. Oreo & Ice-Cream Maggi The amount of confidence it must have taken for the user to post this is commendable. Not adding Maggi masala but replacing it with Oreo and ice cream? This has left most people irked now. 5. Maggi In Beer © Twitter/Curlytales This is a true event, guys! Just when we thought that every type of Maggi recipe has been tried, came another viral video of Beer Maggi. Delhi's Housefull Cafe faced the wrath of Maggi lovers for putting it in the froth. Users called it the worst version of soupy noodles in a beer mug. 6. Sweet Maggi © Twitter/PinksKitchen Another weird concoction with Maggi was with milk. Call it sweet Maggi or meethi Maggi, this made everyone squirm with discomfort. A small snippet of the recipe was shared on the internet and was sarcastically captioned as 'best Maggi recipe'. 7. Maggi With Makki Ki Roti © Twitter/Rishav Sharma Then there was also Maggi with Makki ki roti. Another deadly combo, this ignited a wave of reactions with people calling it the most unfavourable dish. The maker of this dish was actually seen dipping the roti in Maggi. One user mentioned 'Surf excel Ka power bhi daal leta thoda'. The anger is justifiable! Have you tried equally bizarre Maggi combinations? Let us know in the comments section below. India has been severely hit by the second wave of the novel Coronavirus and it’s disturbing to see how people are struggling to secure basic medical facilities for their loved ones who've been affected by the virus. It’s sad that even state governments and the entire health care infrastructure are almost crippled. Farhan Akhtar who has always been vocal about his opinions on social media and often gets trolled because of them, has expressed his opinions about the government once again. Farhan took to Twitter to share that he is upset with the fact that people can’t criticize the government despite being in a democratic setup. He wrote, “First you couldn’t criticize the government. Then you couldn’t criticize any government policy. Then you couldn’t criticize their lack of any policy to tackle Covid. Now you can’t criticize cow dung. Next..??” View the full article

That being said, TV actor Gauhar Khan too was recently trolled for posting a video with her husband. © Instagram/Gauhar Khan Gauhar has time and again voiced her opinion and shut down trolls that have come her way. In an Instagram live recently, she was asked why she had not posted 'RIP' on Hina Khan's father's passing away, to which Gauhar gave a befitting reply. Coming to her recent post, Gauhar posted a trending reel on her feed. The video shows Gauhar and Zaid lying on a bed, wherein Zaid's feet are on hers. She captioned the reel saying "A Love Like This … hehehehe #Goofies #crazies #Gaza @zaid_darbar #reels #trending. ” As soon as she posted, while her fans and friends started showering love for the couple, one user made a distasteful remark and wrote "True Islam the women is a domination of man and always at his feet.” © Instagram/Gauhar Khan © Instagram/Gauhar Khan Obviously, since a comment like this would make anyone livid, Gauhar replied in a savage manner saying, "No loser, it is called comfort, friendship, love and companionship. 17. A live-in relationship was an unimaginable concept in India years ago, however, times have changed and so has the mentality of a lot of people. But what's acceptable for us, isn't justifiable under the law, apparently. Recently, an order dated May 12 2021, came from the Punjab and Haryana high court who claimed that live-in-relationships as 'morally and socially' unacceptable. © iStock © iStock This came after a couple, who were in a live-in-relationship but were scared of the threats coming from the girl's family, asked for protection from the court. Petitioners Gulza Kumari (19) and Gurwinder Singh (22), in the petition, mentioned that they were living together and had plans to get married in a short while. Justice H S Madaan mentioned in his order, "As a matter of fact, the petitioners in the garb of filing the present petition are seeking seal of approval on their live-in-relationship, which is morally and socially not acceptable and no protection order in the petition can be passed. The petition stands dismissed accordingly." © iStock The court also observed, "If such protection as claimed is granted, the entire social fabric of the society would get disturbed.” As per the petitioner's counsel, the couple is staying together in Tarn Taran district. He added that Kumari's parents didn't approve of the concept of a live-in-relationship. © iStock Even though live-in relationships are an acceptable custom by the Supreme court in Indian society, Punjab and Haryana's High Court orders are a major step down to our progressive society. It's basically holding the rights of the couple who wish to live together. The apex court doesn't consider such relationships a crime and has accepted it fully, without any penal action. The court also said that people shouldn't get involved in personal matters. Even Odisha high court allows live-in-relationship of same-*** partners as well. © iStock In June 2018, even the Kerala High Court allowed a young couple to live together. As per the court, the girl at the age of 19 was old enough to take the decision of being in a live-in with a boy younger than her. The court held that both the people are adults. and once the boy reaches a marriageable age, the couple can continue to live freely or marry as well. The court noted, "The constitutional court is bound to respect the unfettered right of a major to have a live-in relationship even though the same may not be palatable to the orthodox section of the society," Accepting a practice like live-in-relationships is crucial in today's time. Hence, the Punjab and Haryana's HC not allowing couples to be in live-in relationships has disappointed many. Here's how the people on Twitter reacted to this development: But they are constitutionally acceptable and that is the only thing that matters . Sad , constitutional judges doing everything other than following constitution. — Vivek (@Vivek60251703) May 18, 2021Its bad enough that there are so many moral polices in the society, now the court, that should protect citizens 'RIGHTS', itself is becoming a moral police. — Tom Scaria Thomas (@ubiquitous_user) May 18, 2021Morally and socially not acceptable? 18. For what it’s worth, Battlegrounds Mobile India is expected to be an India-exclusive battle royale game that is expected to launch soon. However, it seems like the Indian version of the game may not have been built from the ground up and might be taking gameplay mechanics from the Chinese version of PUBG Mobile called Peacekeeper Elite. Krafton has not explicitly pointed out that the game has been made from scratch for the Indian market. © Unsplash/onur-binay In a separate 91Mobiles report, the game is expected to come with India-specific features such as a mobile number requirement from an adult, gaming time limit for 3 hours and a limit on the daily micro-transaction amount for users under the age of 18 years. These seem rather similar to features one can find on Peacekeeper Elite, apart from other changes the game is expected to make. IGN India reports that Battleground Mobile India’s gameplay might be made in China, especially, considering the toned-down version of the game. Speaking to IGN India, Daniel Ahmad, who is a senior analyst at Niko Partners, said: “Tencent, which develops and publishes Peacekeeper Elite in China, has also added an anti-addiction system to the game as per regulations. This requires players to register with their real name and ID before they can start playing the game. If the player is under the age of 18 they will be subject to time and spend restrictions within the game. China’s game regulator has mandated this since the end of 2019 in an effort to curb gaming addiction among the youth.” © Tencent Games It seems like features have been directly lifted from the Chinese build of PUBG Mobile when taking Ahmad’s quote into perspective. Battlegrounds Mobile India is expected to launch with green blood, full-dressed characters and other adjustments that Ahmad believes might make their way to Battlegrounds Mobile India as well. “Given the concern around the game in the country, we would expect the new version announced this week to incorporate similar elements, in addition to storing user data locally,” he told IGN India. “However, it is still unclear whether these changes and a name change would please regulators in India as the main concern revolves around whether Tencent, a Chinese company, would still be involved in the development of the title.” © Unsplash/screen-post Krafton has been particularly gated about Battlegrounds Mobile India and its current status with India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. MensXP has reached out to Krafton asking about its permission status with the Indian Government. We’ve also reached out asking whether the game is using the same source code and engine as Tencent’s PUBG Mobile India. We have not received a response from the Korean developer, as of now.
