  1. Be it 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', 'MS Dhoni: The Untold Story' or 'Mary Kom', biopics based on sports stars are a sure shot formula for success and filmmakers are always eager to tap into this arena. Bollywood is increasingly looking to sports for inspiration for their stories, and with good reason too. We have had many biopics that have had a successful run at the box office. Earlier, reports stated that Tiger Shroff had been approached for the biopic on Indian football legend Bhaichung Bhutia, which will be helmed by Anand Kumar. Talking about the development, our source said, “Tiger had gone to meet Anand Kumar. Yes, he was approached for the movie and he did like the script. But, his dates and schedules are tightly packed. He might say a no to doing the biopic. That's what is known till now. Tiger is not saying anything official for now. As far as his dates and schedules are concerned, he won't be able to take it up.” View this post on Instagram #inbetweenshots #takingafewshots #ð· @shariquealy A post shared by Tiger Shroff (@tigerjackieshroff) on Dec 21, 2017 at 10:03pm PST When the speculations of the film started to float around, Bhutia had shared that he was honoured to have his life put together in a biopic. Tiger would have been a perfect fit for the role considering his fitness levels and how athletic he is. If not Tiger, then who do you think can play Bhaichung Bhutia on the big screen? Let us know in the comments below.
  2. This Eid, viewers are in for a treat as they have two spectacular options - Salman Khan's 'Bharat' and 'X-Men: Dark Phoenix', and fans are curious to know which film will rule at the box office. But what if we tell you that there's a major showdown looming between 'Bharat' distributor, Anil Thadani, and Fox Star Studios, who want to release 'Dark Phoenix'? Yes, you heard that right. The exhibitors are completely stuck between the ugly war of the two distributors. 'Bharat' is a film that is awaited by millions, considering Salman being the lead and it can create a big spin at the box office. On the other hand, we have a big banner film 'Dark Phoenix' that also has a loyal fan base in India. A trade source told us, “Anil Thadani has told the exhibitors that if they didn't give full shows to Bharat, he won't give them the Friday release 'De De Pyaar De'. It's not just Anil, but Fox is also creating troubles. So, Fox has asked exhibitors and distributors to give 'Dark Phoenix' two shows during Eid. If the exhibitors fail to do so, Fox will not be giving their major releases that include 'India's Most Wanted', 'Brahmastra' and 'Mission Mangal'. The exhibitors are in for a show now and are facing big trouble with two big ventures.” The source also added, “Anil had similar issues at the time of 'Raees' clash with 'Kaabil'.” We hope that the two production houses solve this major issue and find a solution so that both the releases don't suffer. Fans would be majorly disappointed if they have to choose between Bharat and Dark Phoenix. What do you think about it? Tell us in the comments below!
  3. Luxury brands should stick to what they do best: make luxurious products that are often well designed and are (mostly) overpriced. Some luxury companies have tried to get on the wearable bandwagon by launching their own smartwatches and even bracelets. While they may look awesome, they don't work as well as something that costs Rs 1,500 maybe. © Twitter Luxury brand Louis Vuitton has now made a handbag that is an odd fusion between technology and fashion. It was presented as a part of its 2020 cruise collection and has OLED screens on a duffle bag. The company also presented a bucket bag that also has OLED screens on each side. © Twitter The company describes it as a fusion of “cutting-edge technology with the Maison's signature savoir-faire, the new canvas displays moving images while taking the form of some of Louis Vuitton's most iconic bags". We would like to give LV full marks for the effort but the design of the bag simply looks ghastly. Why would anyone stitch OLED screen on the side of the bag? The OLED screen on the duffle bag shows video clips of different cities. The bucket bag comes with screens on each side and the OLED panel on this bag can also be used as a touchscreen. Both bags from LV simply do not exude luxury but simply looks like something a knock-off store would make in the fake goods markets in South Asia. © Louis Vuitton The OLED panels on the bags are said to be flexible but I guess the people at LV didn't hear about Samsung's fiasco with foldable smartphones. These bags are going to experience the same problems as the foldable phone and look ugly at the same time.
  4. The OnePlus 7 Pro already sounds like the perfect smartphone ever by the Chinese company as its launch is scheduled for next week. OnePlus has now confirmed that the OnePlus 7 Pro will have an HDR10+ display in addition to the 90Hz refresh rate on the panel. The display on the OnePlus 7 Pro has already been awarded an A+ grade by DisplayMate however, the inclusion of HDR10 takes the smartphone even further. © Twitter Currently, only the Galaxy S10/S10 Plus supports HDR10+ on its screens and the OnePlus 7 Pro will be the second smartphone in India to have support. It is the perfect display for users who love to watch video content on the go. Currently, platforms like Amazon Prime, Netflix and even YouTube have HDR compatible shows which should be supported by the OnePlus 7 Pro. OnePlus clarified that it's not ready to share OTT partnerships as of now. HDR10+ is known to adjust the contrast and the dynamic range on HDR content. OnePlus says, since “it is an open format, it's license and royalty free and therefore easily adoptable by manufacturers and content producers with quality maintained through an HDR10+ certification and logo program.” © Twitter “HDR10+ is the future of not just television displays, but also smartphone displays as well. We hope that our newest device will set a new benchmark for the smartphone industry and open up a new world of visual fluidity for users. We're glad we are leading the ranks in sharing quality technology with the world.” says OnePlus CEO Pete Lau. © Twitter The launch event for the OnePlus 7 series is scheduled to take place on 14th May and will be held in three cities i.e. New York, London and Bangalore and will start at 8:15 PM IST. According to rumours, the OnePlus 7 Pro is going to have a QHD+ 90 Hz AMOLED display and will be relatively cheaper than flagship devices. The OnePlus 7 Pro is rumoured to have a starting price of Rs 49,999 for 6GB + 128GB model. You can read more about pricing leaks here.
  5. Samsung had already launched a 4K movie theatre last year but the company has now taken it up a notch by launching the world's biggest LED cinema in India. It's Samsung's Onyx Cinema LED screen format and has opened in Bengaluru today. The screen is said to offer larger-than-life visuals and is launching just in time for the 'Avengers: Endgame' release. © Samsung The theatre is called Swagath Onyx Theatre and is equipped with JBL Professional cinema loudspeakers from HARMAN. It has a capacity of 618 seats and is now the world's biggest LED theatre. The theatre is outfitted with a 14-metre screen and there are only two others in the world, China and Malaysia. The screen has HDR support is probably the only way to watch your favourite movies if you prefer great picture quality, vivid colours and accuracy. © Marvel Studios “Samsung is the only brand offering an end-to-end movie experience, from stunning visuals through Onyx Cinema LED Screens to phenomenal sound from JBL Professional by HARMAN. The theatre is open from today and tickets for movies will be available soon on your favourite ticketing platforms. *main image for representation purposes only.
  6. When it comes to Aamir Khan, you can expect nothing but perfection. His performance, his looks, his delivery...it's always a pleasure to watch the superstar shine on our screens. What has he not done, really? From playing an alien to portraying a wrestler to charming us with his guy-next-door smile, Aamir Khan is the powerhouse of versatility and talent. Here are 5 times we couldn't take our eyes off Mr.Khan and his amazing transformations: 1. Dangal This is one of the most extreme body transformations any Bollywood actor has done for a movie. For 'Dangal', Aamir played the role of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat - his younger and older days, all at once. The actor had put on almost 25 kilos to portray older Phogat, and then went ahead and lost all of the extra weight, beefed up and aced the part as the younger Phogat. Now that's what we call dedication! 2. Thugs Of Hindostan If any actor in Bollywood can play goofy and eccentric, and still look great on screen is Aamir. For his recent action-adventure film, 'Thugs Of Hindostan', he plays Firangi Mallah, a quirky character with outlandish sense of fashion. Think loud, loose jackets, a top hat, round glasses, unkempt hair, thick moustache and stubble. 3. The PhonePe TVC Unless you're living under a rock, you must have already seen the terrific PhonePe video where Aamir is playing a grandfather, and his makeover is as real as it gets. Besides, the Daddu-Gublu duo on screen is adorable to the core! You have to watch it to believe me. Needless to say, the actor is now the official brand ambassador of PhonePe, a digital payments platform with 100 million customer-base and top-notch services. For instance, the brand is making an effort to educate customers on UPI, how safe and secure it is, and how simple PhonePe works. Additionally, there is also the Apps-in-App use, wherein customers do not need multiple mobile apps, and they can simply use PhonePe for cab bookings, food, travel, recharge data and DTH, and much more. You can also use the PhonePe app on all offline merchants as well. For more details, visit the website. What's more? PhonePe is also an official co-presenting sponsor for the television broadcast of VIVO IPL 2019. But wait, we aren't done yet. If you make a UPI transaction on PhonePe during this T20 season, you can get a chance to win a trip to watch Team India play in England this summer. How cool is that? 4. PK One of the blockbusters of 2014, 'PK' saw Aamir transform into a humanoid alien with a lean physique, flat hair, weird-meets-vexed expressions and popping ears. He's truly one perfectionist! 5. Ghajini 'Ghajini' came at a time when every Bollywood actor was trying to get either an eight or a six-pack abs. Aamir's transformation during that time made it to the headlines - eight-pack abs, well-defined chest muscles, crew cut, and of course, remember the tattoos?
  7. The Motorola RAZR has been that one nostalgic smartphone we all want to see make a return but with updated features. According to a new report by The Wall Street Journal, the foldable display version of the Motorola RAZR will make a comeback, but will cost $1500. The original RAZR was one of the most popular and iconic phones before the iPhone was unveiled and it looks like Motorola wants to cash-in on the nostalgia. The new RAZR smartphone is expected to be launched in the US as an exclusive device with network carrier Verizon. The report suggests that the device is still in testing and further details are yet to be confirmed. © Concept Design This is not the first time Motorola has launched a smartphone with the RAZR branding, as we saw two smartphones in 2011 and 2012 respectively with the same branding. Having said that, the two smartphones did not have the flip device which was one of the reasons why it was not well received back in the day. As of now, there is no word on its specifications such as the screen size, its functionality or what is powering the smartphone under the hood. It is expected that Lenovo (the company that owns Motorola) will follow the original design of the RAZR and have a tall folding device. This design choice will be different from what we have already seen from Samsung and Huawei in the past week. © YouTube The WSJ reports go on to detail that Lenovo will manufacture over 2 Lakh RAZR devices and will be sold as more of a luxury product. The hefty price tag of $1,500 (Roughly Rs 1,06,700) definitely defines it as a luxury product, considering foldable smartphones are expensive to manufacture right now. The original RAZR V3 managed to sell over 130 million units back in the day and if Lenovo implements the folding display technology correctly, the company can achieve this goal in the near future. 8. Sony's smartphone business has not seen any great traction in the recent past however that will now change with the Xperia 1. The Japanese company announced the Xperia 1 at MWC and it as has a very tall 21:9 display. It's Sony's new flagship smartphone and is the world's first smartphone with 4K resolution. (c) Sony Sony plans to breathe new life into its smartphone lineup by launching a smartphone with a very unique feature. The 4K resolution is probably aimed at users who like to watch a lot of video content on streaming apps such as Netflix and Amazon Prime. The Sony Xperia 1 has a 6.5” display which Sony calls “CinemaWide” as it combines 1-style image processing, as seen on Bravia TVs with the colour calibration of Sony's professional master monitors. The display also supports HDR content and as Dolby Atmos sound for the complete cinematic experience. The Sony Xperia 1 has stereo speakers at the bottom and in the earpiece. The screen on the Sony Xperia 1 is so tall that it is 1 full inch taller than the iPhone XS Max. (c) SlashLeaks Since the display is so tall, Sony is already emphasising on features such as using the extra real estate for using multiple apps at once (two apps at once). The tall screen is also capable of showing more information on the screen, especially when you browse the internet, read texts or emails. (c) Sony Other specifications for the Xperia 1 include a triple camera set up at the back where one is a 26mm wide lens (with OIS), a 52mm telephoto lens (also with OIS), and a 16mm superwide lens. The Sony Xperia 1 is also powered by Qualcomm's latest chipset i.e. Snapdragon 855. It has 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage and is water resistant. The fingerprint sensor on the Xperia 1 is on the side of the smartphone. For a 4K display, Sony is offering a 3,300 mAh battery with USB Power Delivery 3.0 support. Sony is targeting to launch the Xperia 1 by Spring and will be available in Black, Grey, White, or Purple.
  9. With over 50 movie and TV adaptations of his novels and short stories, it is now clear that Stephen King is the only living author whose works have been adapted for the screen more times than others. via GIPHY His list of film credits is only increasing with each year! 10. When you have so much money that you don't even know what to do with it, you start spending it on honestly the most bizarre, frivolous things. Case in point - Drake's new diamond encrusted iPhone case. Oh, and it apparently cost him $400,000 which is exactly â¹2,85,92,000. Basically, while we're all struggling to even afford an iPhone, he spent the money it would take to buy, say 400 iPhones, on a single phone case. I mean, it's his money and he can do whatever he wants with it, so Champagne Papi just decided to call everyone a broke bitch at the same time. Well, here's the cover, and please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks this is a little tacky. View this post on Instagram Because we can't do basic! Diamond iPhone case cover for our friend @champagnepapi ðð¼ðð¼ðð¼ A post shared by JASON OF BEVERLY HILLS (@jasonofbeverlyhills) on Feb 14, 2019 at 5:21am PST Not so basic, for sure. But, I still have some questions - What will happen when a new iPhone comes and it's time for Drake to upgrade? Will he stick to his current iPhone or drop another half a million dollars on a case? Is he being this extra just because he has a song called 'hotline bling' and this is literally hotline bling come to life? Does this case offer any extra protection when his phone inevitably falls? Will the diamonds prevent a broken screen? But, most importantly, I'm just scared of him losing his phone or someone stealing it. I mean, it would hurt us if we lost our iPhone, but he would not just lost his iPhone but 3 crore worth of diamonds as well. It hurts just thinking about it. Drake, be careful man, your phone is probably a target now.

  12. Just last month Samsung showed off a brand new concept phone that has a foldable screen and closes just like a book. Samsung plans to shake up the smartphone business with a new phone in an already saturated market. Samsung only showed off the display of the smartphone and didn't give a clear look at the body of the smartphone. For years Samsung has been developing consumer ready foldable displays and intends to be the first major company to launch a phone with the technology. We already know that Huawei and LG too are working on the same lines and competition has never been this intense. © YouTube But things are slowly going south for Samsung, its latest bendable screen technology has been stolen and sold to two Chinese companies, according to prosecutors in South Korea. The prosecutors allege that a Samsung supplier leaked blueprints of Samsung's "flexible OLED edge panel 3D lamination" to a company that it had set up. Intellectual property theft is a national concern for South Korea as it tries to maintain its narrowing technology lead over China. 11 people have been indicted and three of them, including the company's CEO, have been arrested and are awaiting trial. © Reuters The group allegedly formed a separate shell company that received information of the use equipment and drawings of the panels, which they accessed from working with Samsung. They then sold the documents in China, earning 15.5 billion won (U$ 13.8 million). The hardware that is alleged to have been stolen is used to create the curved screens found on the edges of Samsung's popular Galaxy line of smartphones, prosecutors said. Samsung introduced the edge version of OLED panels with the Galaxy Note Edge in 2014. Since then, it has introduced a dual-edge version that has been used in its flagship S and Note series. © Reuters It manufactures more than 90 percent of the small and midsize OLED panels used in smartphones worldwide. A leak of technology in this field would deal a huge blow to Samsung The South Korean giant spent about 150 billion won over a period of six years to develop the OLED technology that is now considered highly-classified national knowledge, prosecution said. 13. After giving us some brilliant films like 'Parmanu: The Story of Pokhran' and 'Satyameva Jayate', actor John Abraham is back in action and gearing up to kick some balls (quite literally) on the big screen. In this list of upcoming sports biopics, let's add another exceptional movie that has the potential to beat every other big release of 2019. The movie is based on the iconic 1911 football match that rewrote the Indian sports history. Wikimedia Reportedly, John has roped in Nikkhil Advani to direct this film, where he will play the role of Shibdas Bhaduri, captain of the Mohun Bagan team. After 'Gold' this will be another sports biopic set in the pre-independence era. Nikkhil thanked John on social media for this opportunity and wrote, "Totally honoured that John Abraham entrusted me to tell the story of 1911. Truly an inspiring story of an iconic event in our country's history." Totally honoured that @TheJohnAbraham entrusted me to tell the story of #1911. The film will also touch base with how the match played a crucial role in India's freedom struggle. John had earlier mentioned in interviews that he might cast some real footballers in the movie. Nikkhil Advani and John Abraham are currently working together on the upcoming movie 'Batla House' where he plays a cop. '1911' will reportedly go on floors in November 2019 and will be shot in Kolkata and is expected to release in 2020. 14. Samsung's next flagship smartphone is expected to launch in a few months however that does not keep details from leaking. According to a report from Korea, the Galaxy S10 is expected to have a design that every manufacturer will strive to achieve. © Twitter/VenyaGeskin1 The Galaxy S10 is expected to have one of the most beautiful screens on a smartphone ever as Samsung has already teased the Infinity-O Display. It's basically a screen that will zero bezels and a tiny dot/hole at the top centre that will house the selfie camera. Korean website, TheElec claims that the screen will have a zero-bezel OLED panel and will have two holes that will have the camera and an infrared sensor. Other sensors, that are generally in the notch or top bezels, will be under the screen to give the smartphone a uniform look. The report adds that Samsung is using diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers to drill holes in displays. Samsung is also busy creating a new user interface that would accommodate these holes. UI tweaks will include displaying information on the left and right side of the hole such as single strength, carrier name, battery percentage and more. © Twitter The report also adds that Apple may adopt a similar screen for future iPhones as Samsung manufactures OLED panels for the Cupertino giant. It's not confirmed whether Apple would drop the notch design as the company uses Face ID and 3D facial recognition for unlocking the smartphone and use other features like Animoji. It's unlikely that Apple will opt for a screen design similar to the Galaxy S10 as the notch have an array of components essential for Facial recognition. Source: TheElec

  17. Times are changing and for the good. Well, mostly. With more and more people becoming aware of the struggles and needs of the LGBTQ community, one can't help but mention the name of the megastar who strove to stand away from the crowd and explore the 'road less taken', thereby establishing herself as an icon and a beacon of hope, for not only the nation at large, but also the queer community. Debuting at the tender age of 4, she was on the path to becoming a superstar in Bollywood, not only for her brilliant skills as an actress but also for the kind of roles she chose to portray throughout her career. © Twitter Whether it was the hot-tempered businesswoman Sheetal Jetley in 'Laadla', the passionate journalist in 'Mr. India', the demure Chandni Mathur clad in a sexy saree or the meek yet ambitious Shashi Godbole in 'English Vinglish' who gave the overtly 'English' society a piece of her mind, she always took up challenging roles that were away from the usual and never mainstream. A Voice Of Hope © Twitter While we lost the gifted artiste earlier this year, today on her 55th birth anniversary we remember her, not only for the great actor that she was, but also for being a woman of substance who chose to use her influence and visibility to voice the plight of the 'other', who are either less represented or marginalised by the mainstream community. An entire generation of queer men and women have found hope and solace in the actor's unintended portrayal of characters in 'conflict' who came in many layers of stories, identities and realities, and which was effortlessly captured in her performance. © Instagram Her characters weren't perfect, they weren't entirely flawed either, and there lay the beauty of it all. She made sure she couldn't be boxed up and categorised. The Queer Icon While the entire nation mourned the loss of the superstar, it was the queer community which came forward to express its grief very vocally. © Instagram The community has admitted several times across platforms, that for an entire generation of queer men and women, she symbolised the struggle of not being able to conform to society's ideals and the struggle to break out of those norms while preserving one's identity. What Bette Davis and Marilyn Monroe were to the States during the 80s and 90s, so was Sridevi to the queer community in India. If you're wondering why, then read on. © Instagram The 80s and 90s in India presented no positive and confident narrative around gay pride, so the gay community cast their desires and dreams on to a star, who was an epitome of their identities in many ways - she was strong yet vulnerable, sensuous but still coy enough, sober yet quirky like their personalities. Apart from these resonances, what also struck a chord with the LGBTQ community was the influence and power that Sridevi wielded, which was uncommon in the mainstream society. © Instagram She became emblematic of the dismantling of the dominant power-structures, what was misogynistic and sexist to a large extent. In such scenarios, Sridevi came forth as a personality who subverted the rules and heralded change by often bagging same or even more pay than her male counterparts. Her iconic 'naagin dance' resonated with a lot of closeted gay men who wanted to break free in a world that wished to 'charm' its way into putting them in shackles, meant to inhibit any form divergence from the normal. © Instagram The characters she played helped them to face and come to terms with their dilemma, be it the languishing Benazir or the flamboyant and over-the-top Hawa Hawaii, she inspired the gay community to live their dreams through her. When no other Indian female actor took a stand on concerns and needs related to the LGBTQ community, Shashi (in 'English Vinglish') came forward to take a stand and rooted for inclusiveness in our society when she came across the off-handed attitude of people towards gay men and their relationships. This and a lot many other things about her persona, costumes and portrayal in numerous movies where she spoke as and for the marginalised men and women, made her a hit among the LGBTQ community. What The Queer Community Says Read through these tweets to see for yourself as to how much the LGBTQ community loved and idolised Sridevi: A #queer friend once said, all 90s boys liked one of 2 #Bollywood divas - if they liked Madhuri, they were straight. If they liked #Sridevi, chances are, they were gay. #RIPSridevi #NHsmtp pic.twitter.com/nn8TDBlMP5 — Alyssa G. Lobo (@filmibaby) February 25, 2018 This is what I had written. She was a gay Icon. She was like Lady Gaga, Princes Diana for Indian LGBT Community. Indeed a massive loss for Indian LGBT community. #RIPSridevi — Agitated Guy (@Agitated_Guy) February 24, 2018 Gay men had some serious love for #Sridevi. She helped to find most of them their true-self! She was the epitome of self expression. — Nakshatra Bagweð³ï¸‍ð (@NakshatraBagwe) February 25, 2018 There you go, these are only some of the instances, but the LGBTQ community and the country at large misses the superstar, who became a symbol of chutzpah and unapologetically being herself.
  18. Samsung was known as one of the only two companies that could manufacture OLED panels and the company was the exclusive supplier to Apple for the iPhone X. Now, the company is facing increasing competition from other companies who want to supply to the Cupertino giant. © Apple In order to combat the competition, the South Korean giant is now looking to develop a brand new OLED panel. The company announced today that it is developing a new “unbreakable” OLED smartphone panel. This panel can essentially be used any gadget including “military devices”. That says more than enough on how durable it will actually be. The new panel is said to withstand repeated drops and even extreme temperatures. “The fortified plastic window is especially suitable for portable electronic devices, not only because of its unbreakable characteristics, but also because of its lightweight, transmissivity, and hardness, which are all very similar to glass,” said Ho Jung Kim, general manager of the Communication Team for Samsung Display Company. © YouTube The new OLED was tested by Underwriters Laboratories, the go-t0 testing companies for the U.S. Department's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The tests results reported that the new screen is capable of withstanding drops from a distance of nearly four feet and in a total of 26 times in succession. Their test results showed the panel did not sustain any damage from either its front, sides, or edges. It was also dropped from nearly six feet and still managed to survive without any damage. Apparently, that is “significantly higher than the U.S. military standard.” The same test also yielded results in relation to extreme temperatures. The new screen was able to withstand heats up to 71 degrees Fahrenheit and a low temperature of -32 degrees Fahrenheit. © YouTube As of now, there is no word whether these durable OLED panels will be implemented in upcoming smartphones. Samsung also did not make it clear whether the panel is in the development stage or whether it is ready for mass manufacturing. What do you think about the new unbreakable screen by Samsung? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
