  1. Virat Kohli's love for fitness is not hidden from anyone and it won't be wrong if we say that he should be given all the credit to take Team India's fitness to a different level since he took over the reins from former captain MS Dhoni. It is not just his physical fitness but Kohli's mental toughness too is second to none. The 33-year-old led India across formats for over five years but he did not let the burden of captaincy affect his batting as he smashed records for fun during his stint at the helm. BREAKING: After seven years at the helm, Virat Kohli has stepped down as India’s Test captain. pic.twitter.com/0aZzSUvEYq — ICC (@ICC) January 15, 2022 Kohli announced himself at the international stage in his very first World Cup game as he slammed an unbeaten century against Bangladesh in Dhaka back in 2011. During the tournament, everyone is well aware of the health condition of Yuvraj Singh who was diagnosed with cancer but carried on and won player of the tournament as India ended its 28-year-long wait for the World Cup title. .@imVkohli got the 2011 CWC off to a flier with a 83 ball century. Team India's former physio Ashish Kaushik lavished praise on Kohli's pain endurance ability while sharing an anecdote from the 2011 World Cup semi-final. Kaushik said Kohli knows how to play through pain and while some players react differently to pain as compared to others, Kohli is someone who always looks for solutions to make it work. CONFIRMED: @imVkohli will not play for Surrey after suffering a neck injury playing for RCB. He will undertake a fitness Test on 15th June, and is expected to be fit for India's tours of Ireland and England. pic.twitter.com/923ubTK7se — ICC (@ICC) May 24, 2018 "His pain tolerance is phenomenal. Some players get affected by pain more than others - pain being a subjective marker - but Kohli has got a tremendous ability to endure pain and look for solutions. I remember he had some neck and jaw pain before the 2011 World Cup semi-final in Mohali but he would take everything extremely, extremely lightly, and somehow know that he can work through it," Kaushik was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. While other players were competing with each other within the cricket community in terms of being the fittest athlete across the world, Kohli always had a bigger vision and he was looking up to the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic and worked towards becoming one of the fittest across the sports fraternity. "He would look up to Djokovic, Ronaldo. Those were the people he was comparing his fitness to. Not to the other players within the fraternity of cricket, but he was looking at the fittest guys in the field of sport. That's where he wanted to see himself," he added. Image 1 Kohli's desire to challenge himself and his ability to endure pain makes him a different kind of a beast and we are glad to have witnessed him at the peak of his power as he dominated world cricket. 9. Tesla's new electric semi truck is unveiled during a presentation in Hawthorne, California, US, November 16, 2017. REUTERS/Alexandria Sage/Files SEATTLE: Deutsche Post AG?s DHL and Fortigo Freight Services Inc, one of Canada?s largest fleet management companies, said on Tuesday they had pre-ordered Tesla Inc?s electric truck unveiled earlier this month to test on limited routes. High-profile logistics and transportation customers like fleet operator J.B. Hunt and retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc announced orders for the Tesla Semi after it was unveiled on November 16. The Semi ? scheduled for rollout in 2019 ? is Tesla?s next step to move the economy away from fossil fuels through electric cars, solar roofs and power storage. DHL Supply Chain ? which provides transportation, warehousing, and distribution services for US manufacturers and retailers ? ordered 10 trucks to test at customer facilities in major US cities, the company said in a statement. ?The trucks will be used for shuttle runs and same-day customer deliveries, and will be tested for fuel efficiency on longer runs from major markets to other DHL operations across the country,? the company said. Fortigo ? based in Etobicoke, Ontario ? ordered one Tesla Semi with a down payment of about 26,000 Canadian dollars (US $20,290), with a balance due of under US $181,000 when the Tesla is delivered, Chief Executive Elias Demangos said by email on Tuesday. ?We?ll be running it in a pilot program to ensure it meets our business objectives,? Demangos said. Tesla will not provide a tally of orders it has received for the truck, company spokesman Dave Arnold said in an email. The limited early orders reflect uncertainty about the market for electric commercial vehicles. The 800-kilometre (500-mile) range between charges for the Tesla Semi is about half the range between fill-ups of a diesel Class 8 truck. Heavy batteries cut payload and add cost, potential deal killers for fleet buyers focused on operating cost per mile. However, Tesla ? as well as other truck makers, such as Daimler AG, Navistar International Corp, and its partner Volkswagen AG ? are investing in electric models in a bet that the market will shift over the next decade.
  10. HAWTHORNE: After shaking up the auto world with its electric cars, Tesla is tackling a new frontier in "green" transportation with the unveiling of a futuristic all-electric semi truck. Elon Musk, the South African-born inventor and entrepreneur, showcased the new vehicle Thursday in Hawthorne, California, site of Tesla's design bureau and the headquarters of the billionaire's aerospace company SpaceX. With a sleek, aerodynamic profile, the Tesla Semi is billed as quicker and more economical than today's diesel-powered trucks. "We designed the Tesla truck to be like a bullet," said Musk, Tesla's co-founder and chief executive who aims to start production in 2019 with deliveries by 2020 ? although some analysts expressed caution over Tesla's ability to meet its own timetable. The Tesla Semi ? the company's electric big-rig truck ? is seen in this undated handout image released on November 16, 2017. Tesla/Handout via REUTERS With four independent electric motors and a transmission that requires no shifting of gears, the Semi can accelerate to 60 miles (100 kilometers) per hour in five seconds ? reaching that speed in 20 seconds while hauling a maximum 80,000 pound (36,000 kilograms) load, much faster than a traditional diesel truck, Tesla says. Most crucially, it can travel 800 kilometres (500 miles) between charges, more than double the length of most truck routes, 80 percent of which, according to Musk, are 250 miles or less. "So it means you can go to your destination and back without recharging," he said. Tesla claims its Semi, which could be recharged at the firm's 1,000 free Supercharger stations worldwide, can save 20 percent over conventional transport rigs with fuel and insurance factored in ? while delivering a "better experience" for truck drivers through its cab design. With no front engine or gear shift to accommodate, the driver's seat is positioned in the centre of a panoramic windshield, with a dominating view of the road. Instead of the traditional console, there are touch screens for navigation, music and traffic data. The Tesla Semi ? the company's electric big-rig truck ? is seen in this undated handout image released on November 16, 2017. Tesla/Handout via REUTERS Inside, the cab has enough head and legroom to stand up and walk around. The traditional second front seat is relegated to the back of the cab as a jump seat. The Semi also uses some of the same navigation aids as Tesla's Model 3 sedan, such as cameras, and sensors designed to minimize blind spots, abrupt lane changes and emergency stops. Bumps in the road? But despite the truck's glitzy debut, some analysts warned it remains unclear if or when Tesla can deliver on its promises. "We've come to expect very forward-thinking products from Tesla," said Rebecca Lindland, an analyst for the auto research firm Kelley Blue Book who said the Tesla Semi concept "makes a lot of sense" for vehicles with predictable routes like garbage trucks or school buses. Lindland added however that Musk "is not great at keeping deadlines" and that "we need to add weeks, months or years" to his timetable. Another concern is that Tesla is bleeding cash as it invests in new vehicles like the Model 3, a more affordable electric sedan. The pace of production of the Model 3, for instance, is way behind target, peaking at 500 to 1,000 a week instead of a promised 5,000. The Tesla Semi ? the company's electric big-rig truck ? is seen in this undated handout image released on November 16, 2017. Tesla/Handout via REUTERS "Wall Street continues to be very tolerant of Elon Musk's strategy, as they consider it a tech company and not an automobile manufacturing company," Lindland said. "But there will come a time when investors won't be as tolerant and will need to start seeing profits." 'Green' trucks Joseph Spak of RBC Capital Markets said he was impressed by the truck, saying its specifications "exceeded expectations." "While Tesla has had challenges meeting deadlines, it does eventually get there," Spak said in a research note. "As such, expect the topic of the electrification of (cargo trucks) and Tesla's disruption of that segment to step up." Tesla's Semi is arriving at a time when a variety of automakers ? Daimler, Volkswagen, Nikola, Einride ? are also developing electric truck prototypes, some equipped with autonomous driving functions and futuristic designs. Experts note that heavy goods vehicles and buses already are being powered with alternative energy sources like hydrogen batteries or natural gas. Tesla has not given out details on how much the trucks will cost or where they will be built.
  11. World number one Rafa Nadal battled past Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 6-4 7-6(4) 6-3 and into the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters on Friday. The 16-times grand slam winner, who beat Dimitrov in three sets in the China Open semi-finals last week, fired 32 winners and won two crucial breaks to prevail in two and a half hours. Nadal, who extended his winning streak to 15 matches, pegged Dimitrov back with relentless baseline hitting to take the first set with ease. But the Bulgarian, who sent down 13 aces in the match, took the fight to the Spaniard in the second set, coming from 3-0 down in a tie-break to level. Trailing 3-2 in the decider, Dimitrov?s forehand crashed into the net to hand Nadal the break he needed. The top seed consolidated to make it 5-2 before serving out the match. Next up for the 31-year-old is Croatian Marin Cilic, who beat Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-3 6-4 in another quarter-final. Roger Federer, the only man who can deny Nadal the year-end world number one ranking, is in action against Frenchman Richard Gasquet later on Friday.

World league: Pakistan hockey team leaves for UK The hockey team will play a three-match series with Ireland before the World League On the other hand, Argentina has had a dream run and has been undefeated in the competition so far. 13. Borussia Dortmund fought back to stun bitter rivals Bayern Munich 3-2 on Wednesday to reach the German Cup final and shatter the Bavarian giants' dreams of the double. A brilliant strike from Ousmane Dembele 15 minutes from the end settled the semi-final tie at Munich's Allianz Arena which had seen Dortmund trail 2-1 at half-time. "This is the biggest moment of my career with Dortmund. It's hard to come to Munich and get a win," beamed Dembele, 19, who only joined Borussia for the start of the season. The result is a dramatic turn-around for Thomas Tuchel's Dortmund who were hammered 4-1 by runaway leaders Bayern in Munich in the Bundesliga just three weeks ago. "We came from 2-1 down and still won - that's crazy," beamed Tuchel. "We had completely written off our 4-1 defeat in the league. We played well for 20 minutes and then we let it slip. "After the break, we kept improving and improving, from the 60th minute we were very good. We certainly had a bit of luck too." The loss is a disaster for Bayern's coach Carlo Ancelotti following the Bavarian giants' Champions League quarter-final exit at the hands of Real Madrid. The cup exit in Munich leaves Bayern winless in their last five games following back-to-back losses to Real, plus draws with Mainz and Leverkusen in the league. Ancelotti's Bayern are eight points clear in the Bundesliga with four games left. However, their dreams of repeating last season's league and cup double, under Ancelott's predecessor Pep Guardiola, are over. "I think it's too early to talk about the season, we're still trying to win the Bundesliga," said Ancelotti when asked about the down-turn in fortunes this April. "We're disappointed, we had our chances to go 3-1 up. "This is not a good moment, but we have to focus on the Bundesliga." In a repeat of last year's final at Berlin's Olympic Stadium, which Bayern won in a penalty shoot-out, Marco Reus put Dortmund ahead after 19 minutes following a mistake by Munich's Javi Martinez. The Spanish international's lazy back pass was snapped up by Dortmund midfielder Raphael Guerreiro, whose snot hit the post and Reus drilled the rebound. Martinez made amends by equalising with a header nine minutes later before Mats Hummels put Bayern 2-1 ahead at half-time. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it 2-2 on 69 minutes when he headed home a superb Dembele cross. That paved the way for the French teenager to hit the winner with a curling left-foot shot to break Bayern's hearts. "That is a huge disappointment," said Bayern's stunned captain Philipp Lahm. "You could see when it was 2-2 that we really wanted to reach the final. We didn't play well in the first 15 minutes, but then we improved. First, we have to absorb this setback." Dortmund will play in a fourth consecutive final on May 27, when they face Eintracht Frankfurt, who reached the final on Tuesday with a penalty shoot-out win over Borussia Moenchengladbach.
