  1. One of your favorite Bollywood movies could have turned out very differently had actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had a say in it. © Reuters © Dharma Productions We all remember the much-loved trio of Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukherjee as Rahul, Anjali, and Tina from the 1998 rom-com film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (KKHH) that made us all cry when we watched it for the first time. © Dharma Productions The film, which was the directorial debut of Karan Johar, is remembered as one of the classic Bollywood Rom-coms that you watch on a Sunday while hogging on some ice cream and wishing if love stories indeed ended up like that. © Dharma Productions Well folks, while KKHH was indeed a huge success along with other KJo movies like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham..., it could have all been very different for one big reason. Apparently, for the role of Tina in the film, KJo had approached a host of stars, which included Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at the time. © Reuters However, Aish, who was just three movies old when she got the offer, turned it down out of the fear of being "lynched" by viewers. While speaking with Filmfare, the 47-year-old actress said, "I'm in a catch-22 situation, really. Though I'm a newcomer, I'm compared with all the senior actresses." "If I'd done the film, it would have been tittered that, 'Look, Aishwarya Rai is back to doing what she did in her modeling days—leaving her hair straight, wearing minis, and pouting glamorously into the camera.' Ultimately, the hero goes back to the more real person. I know if I'd done Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, I would have been lynched." Well, Aishwarya's loss was Rani's gain with filmmaker Aditya Chopra (now Rani's husband) recommending her for KJo's KKHH. "It took months to cast for Rani’s part after Aditya Chopra recommended me her name," revealed Karan, after an event. Well, the rest is history. We could have never imagined the main leads of KKHH to be any different as the movie is literally a Bollywood classic now. © Dharma Productions Guess everything happens for a good reason. 2. ISLAMABAD: Renowned film actress Resham broke her silence on Pakistan's first #MeToo case, asking if "it could be true that Ali Zafar harasses a woman and she doesn?t slap him back, hit him with a shoe, push him away or complain to his wife?"In...
  3. Photo: Instagram Mahira Khan is arguably Pakistan?s biggest celebrity transcending borders with a global fan base. Last year, the actor made her Bollywood debut alongside India?s biggest star Shah Rukh Khan in Rahul Dholakia?s Raees and she's making history as L?Oréal?s first Pakistani ambassador. But Mahira, herself, doesn?t think she would?ve been the biggest Bollywood star if it wasn?t for the India-Pakistan divide. ?Truly, I don?t,? she responded when asked if she thinks she would?ve been the biggest star in the Indian film industry if it wasn?t for tensions between the two countries which have led to a ban on Pakistani talent in Bollywood. ?Not that I would?ve been the biggest star,? she added. ?May be I would?ve done another film with Shah Rukh,? Mahira laughed. The actor was in conversation at the opening gala dinner of UK Asian Film Awards 2018 at the Mayfair Hotel in London. She said her next dream is to make movies and ?give happiness a chance.? The opening gala honoured female heroes that have challenged stereotypes, broken barriers and pushed boundaries to make a difference. Recipients included British actress Amy Jackson, veteran British television, theatre and film actress and activist Jamila Massey, author and campaigner Rahila Gupta, and legendary actress and talk show hostess Simi Garewal. Mahira was also awarded for her contribution to ?Film and Activism?. The superstar?s latest Pakistani film Verna will take centre stage at the film festival and will be screened on March 16. Earlier, Mahira shared a few snaps of herself on her Instagram page where she was seen heading for a few press interactions. In the photo, the talented looked beautiful in a red-blue striped pyjama suit with a black overcoat.
  4. Actress Jane Fonda attends the Women's Media Center 2017 Awards in New York, US, October 26, 2017. REUTERS/Eduardo Munoz/Files LOS ANGELES: Actress Jane Fonda, who celebrated her 80th birthday last week, says that growing up she never expected to reach 30. ?I never pictured 30,? Fonda told People magazine in an interview published on Wednesday. ?I assumed I wouldn?t live very long and that I would die lonely and an addict of some sort. I didn?t think if I did live this long, that I would be vibrant and healthy and still working. I?m grateful,? she added. Fonda?s mother committed suicide when she was 12 years old and the same year Henry Fonda ? her actor father ? remarried. She has spoken in the past about suffering from bulimia, taking hallucinogenic drugs, and being abused as a child. Fonda won her first Oscar in 1972, at age 35, for the movie Klute and went on to win her second for the 1978 Vietnam War drama Coming Home. She became an anti-war and women?s activist, launched a fitness craze with her 1980s workout videos, married three times, and is nominated at January?s Screen Actors Guild awards for her lead role in TV series Grace and Frankie. The actress turned 80 on December 21. ?I?m thankful that I?ve gotten better over the 80 years,? she told People. ?I?m less judgmental. I?m forgiving. It wasn?t always true. I?ve really worked hard to get better as a human being.?
