Sidnaaz fans were in deep shock when they came to know about the tragic demise of Sidharth Shukla. The actor died of a heart attack in September last year at the young age of 40. While his friends and family were mourning his death, fans were concerned about Shehnaaz Gill, who he had met exactly two years before on the reality show Bigg Boss. While some featured great performances, some featured poor and then there were others that totally surprised us. Here’s a look at 5 such actors who surprised us with their performances: 1. Sidharth Malhotra in Shershaah © Dharma Productions After making a successful debut in 2012, Sidharth Malhotra delivered some successful films in Ek Villain, Hasee Toh Phasee and Kapoor & Sons. However, his performances in all these films were often criticised. And in the last few years, his career went on a downward spiral with almost all his films flopping at the box office. With Shershaah, Sidharth Malhotra not only returned to form but also surprised many with a stupendous act. The movie received a positive response from critics and audience alike and Sidharth too was praised for his brilliant portrayal of PVC Captain Vikram Batra. With Shershaah, Sidharth’s career has once again taken off in a big way. 2. Arjun Kapoor in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar © DBP Similar to Sidharth Malhotra’s career trajectory, Arjun Kapoor too started off with a successful film in 2012 and went on to deliver a few more hits in 2 States, Ki & Ka and Gunday. Aftab Shivdasani in Special Ops 1.5 © Disney+ Hotstar In over two decades of a career as a lead actor, Aftab is often written off by critics when it comes to his performances. Most of his successful films are in the comedy genre. After staying away from screens for a couple of years, Aftab returned to the role of an agent in Neeraj Pandey’s Special Ops 1.5 and got some of the best reviews of his career. Moreover, the acclaim came for a role that is not in the comedy genre. 5. Kartik Aaryan in Dhamaka © Netflix After delivering back to back hits in romantic comedies and often receiving criticism for his choice of roles, Kartik Aaryan changed gears this year with Dhamaka giving a dramatic performance. Koffee With Karan is one show that has always grabbed people’s attention due to its risque content and unabashed statements made by celebs who grace the couch. From courting controversy after cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul’s remarks to leaving late Rishi Kapoor fuming post the Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone episode where they took potshots at Ranbir Kapoor, Koffee With Karan has always made headlines. However, what many may not remember is the comment made by Sidharth Malhotra while showing his admiration towards Madhuri Dixit that had left the actress “scandalised”. Back in 2014, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla graced the couch to promote their film Gulaab Gang. During a segment, Karan showed an AV of several new-age actors talking about their love and admiration for Madhuri and Juhi. This AV included actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan, Ranveer Singh, Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra. While talking about his love for Madhuri Dixit, Sidharth called her the “Dhak Dhak Girl” and said she is a “superb dancer and her (dance) move that comes to my mind.
