  1. The Fold's release was delayed to sort out severe problems with its display, forcing retailers and carriers to cancel the pre-orders they had taken. Samsung has constantly assured everyone that the phone will return soon. The Galaxy Fold is the first smartphone to have a truly foldable screen and it even costs more than any Samsung device. There were several issues with the test units of Galaxy Fold when they were out for review. The South Korean tech company acknowledged the glitches and went back to the drawing board to come up with a finished quality product. Even Huawei followed the same path and held off on its own Mate X release, citing Samsung's issues as a preliminary tale. © YouTube Now, at a conference held by The Korean Information Display Society in Seoul on 18 June, Samsung Display Vice President, Kim Seong-Cheol, said that most of the screen related issues of Galaxy fold have been "ironed out" and it is "ready" to hit the markets, reported The Investor (http://www.theinvestor.co.kr/view.php?ud=20190619000593&ACE_MAIN=2). © YouTube We should highlight that Kim is not an employee of Samsung Electronics' mobile division, but rather the firm's display-manufacturing arm. He's likely to have worked closely with Fold team, but his exposure could be limited to the display only. He may not have the insight to definitively tell us when the phone is launching. The Galaxy Fold has a 4.6-inch single folding AMOLED display and can be turned into a tablet with a screen size of 7.3-inches. The outer 21:9 screen has a resolution of 840x1960 and the unfolded screen has a resolution of 1,536 x 2,152. © Trusted Reviews Trusted Reviews Samsung has been promising release news “in coming weeks” for several weeks now. Understandably, the company hasn't been rushing to get the handset back out. The company has experienced a similar debacle previously with Note 7 and it understands patience is the key. The Fold comes with a tag price of US$ 1,980 (Rs 1,37,000). Samsung is expected to launch the Note 10 in the first week of August, and there is a possibility the Fold will launch after it.
  2. E3 gaming expo got over this week and many new upcoming games were announced for consoles and PC. Some of the biggest conferences included games that piqued everyone's interest and we got to see some gameplay or teaser from publishers and studios. Some of these games won't be out until next year while some are about to launch in a few months. We are not going to include annual titles like FIFA and Madden because these games tend to remain the same with minor updates. Here are the best coolest games that were announced or showed off at E3 this year: 1. Cyberpunk 2077 (PS4,Xbox One, PC) - April 2020 Last year, we got to check out some exclusive gameplay behind closed doors and this year, we got to see some more footage of the upcoming gaming by CD Project Red. What was cool about this revelation was that we got to see a character being played by Keanu Reeves. The game is set in a dystopian future where humans can upgrade their bodies with augmentations. Being a CD Projekt Red game, we can expect some killer plots and RPG mechanics that we've been familiar with from the Witcher series. The expectation for this game is very high and we hope the developers can deliver. 2. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order' (PS4, Xbox One, PC) - November 2019 EA has not come out with a single-player story-driven game every since the company switched its strategy to live service titles. However, this we got to see Respawn Entertainment's “Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order” gameplay that blew us away from the start. You will play as one of the last remaining Jedis after the Empire has taken over the galaxy. The gameplay footage showed us what we can do in the game i.e. weird lightsabers, use force powers to defeat enemies and interact with the environment, and go on an adventure with your own cute little droid. 3. 'Watch Dogs: Legion' (PS4, Xbox One, PC, Google Stadia) - March 2020 Watch Dogs is coming back in the form of 'Watch Dogs: Legion' that will be set in post-Brexit London. The city is under a paramilitary organisation called 'Albion' after the fall of the Government and it is up to you to take on the authority. As a part of a rebellious group called DedSec, you will be playing as multiple characters to take on Albion with gadgets, hacking and good old shooting. The coolest part about this game is that you can play as any character you want in the city. You can play as a master assassin, a gifted hacker or even as an old lady. Ubisoft says that you will be able to recruit anyone and the cutscenes in the game will adjust according to who you are playing as. We highly recommend you check out the gameplay footage above to know more about this game. 4. 'Ghostwire: Tokyo' The game was showcased at Bethesda's E3 conference and was met with good reception at the expo and on Twitter. The game is basically a scary, action-adventure game where citizens of Tokyo are disappearing for some odd reason. Your job is to find out why and that's all we got to see from this teaser trailer. From the makers of “The Evil Within,” you really should check out what they have in store for us. 5. Doom Eternal (PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia - November 2020 A brand new Doom game is coming for fans next year where the forces of Hell have begun to invade Earth, and the Doom Slayer arrives to repel the demons. It is the fifth main title in the Doom series and put heavy emphasis on "push-forward" combat. Creative director Hugo Martin has stated there will be twice as many demon types in this game and we can't wait to get our hands on it. Check out the gameplay footage above if you can handle it.
  3. As a frequent flier who took close to 100 flights a year for the last many years, the quality of service with Jet Airways and its erstwhile competitor Kingfisher Airlines was a privilege taken for granted. However, with both these privileges going bust, it is only a matter of time before the hungry budget carriers devise new ways to grab an extra share of their reluctant passenger's wallets. The following is a list of perks which you might have to cough up money for on a flight in the near future: 1. Pay To Not Go Standing Imagine boarding a flight and realising you are on the fast local from Virar to Churchgate. A vehicle where every millimetre has a human along with his laptop cramped in. You should not fret at this thought as money can come to your rescue; for a mere Rs. 600 you can get a seat. And another Rs. 600, you can get a seat of your choice! 2. Pay To Not Get Beaten Up By The Crew In my opinion, this is one avenue for which anyone should be ready to dole out a fee. For a flat fee of Rs. 600, you can be rest assured no crew member will punch, kick or spit on you during the entire flight. Don't pay the sum and there is a probability of a broken jaw, neck or a random bone at the end of the flight! The only consolation is that your broken part of the body might go viral on the twitter handle of the carrier for excellent customer service! 3. Pay To Access The Toilet And Not Bring Your Own 'Lota' This is the avenue where the airlines will eventually mint millions; providing access to the washroom. Given this right is fundamental to human existence, the monetisation of this access is fairly nuanced. Pay Rs. 500 and get 5-minute access to the washroom. However, at this base membership fee, there won't be water in the washroom. You will have to carry your own 'lota' (water container) through the passage as your fellow passengers will be fully aware of your tummy condition. However, for another Rs. 500, there will be a supply of water in the washroom. On festive days, there might be soap too! And if your airline is extremely generous, no crew member will bang on the door screaming out, 'jaldi karo'! 4. Pay To Be Greeted By A Smiling Air-Hostess Who wouldn't want to be greeted with a sophisticated 'how are you sir' by a petite airline beauty when you enter the plane? Going forward, there is a possibility this too might come at a price! For complimentary entry, you will be greeted by a brusque, 'kaisa hain kutte ke bachche' (no translation needed) whereas Rs 500 dole out will ensure a polite greeting without any stinging abuses! 5. Pay To Not Eat The Most Rotten Food On Air It is believed that the well-cooked meals served on budget carriers are usually leftovers from Delhi weddings which even the stray dogs refused to feast on. I am quite sure this is not true. For a base membership of Rs. 300, the food served will end up only in loose motions that last a day. For a premium membership of Rs. 1000, you will be served bread and cheese that will not damage any body organ of yours! 6. Pay To Get Your Luggage With Minimal Damage Spiritual and religious books have always maintained that man came with nothing and will end up going with nothing. Airlines have taken this one step further; without any additional charge, you can be rest assured that most valuable items of yours can go missing on a flight. However for a fee of Rs. 850, you can be reasonably guaranteed that your ill-fitting inner wear might reach you intact. 7. Pay To Have The Ability To Raise A Complaint Airlines get very cagey when they realise you want to complain against them for poor service or lost baggage. It is easier to get your father in law to write off his entire wealth to you rather than get an airline crew member to give you access to a complaint form. However, given that amazing customer experience is the new talk of the town, airlines are modernising this part of superior customer experience. You can actually complain against an airline for poor service for a meagre amount of Rs. 7,500. True value for money, isn't it? 8. Pay To Not Sit Next To A Pesky Passenger We have all been in flights with lovely co-passengers; the perverted uncle, the bawling baby, the auntie hell-bent on getting you married to her relative, the grumpy executive bellowing and burping all through the flight. Going forward, airlines might give you the option to choose your neighbours. For a neat amount of Rs. 4000, you can choose to sit next to a person of your choice in case they don't have an issue with you. Sounds like Tinder 35,000 feet above sea level, doesn't it? 9. Pay To Make Your Neighbours Smell Your Aromatic Socks An old adage goes, 'a man is measured by the stinkiness of his unwashed socks'. Who wouldn't want to flaunt his hard earned, well maintained stinky socks to his co-passengers? Like most lunches, such an act of manhood doesn't come for free. A simple payment of Rs. 1300 can ensure the entire crew is actively smelling your stinky socks and garnishing you with lavish praise! 10. Pay Not To Listen To Bhojpuri Mega-Chart Busters On A 6 Am Flight! Airlines make a constant endeavour to keep their passengers relaxed during flight transits. While some of them switch off the lights and advice their air hostesses to not giggle loudly, others try to achieve the same objective by playing the latest Bhojpuri chartbusters early morning. After all, even coffee cannot beat the night blues compared to the pelvic-thrusting, hip-gyrating beats of the latest chartbuster 'Lalaiya chusa raja ji'. For the not so musically refined, a simple one-time payment of Rs. 850 can turn off the melodious harmony! In conclusion, while some of you might land up in depression at the thought of the above state of affairs, it is only a matter of time before you get used to it. As an eternal optimist, I am grateful that they are not making me hold on the wheel while they are 35,000 feet above the sea level! You should be too!
  4. Xiaomi's Redmi phones have been a huge hit for the company. So much so that 'Redmi' is now a separate sub-brand. So far the Redmi has been limited to the budget segment, but the company is about to change that with its upcoming flagship device - the Redmi K20. The Redmi K20, in case you don't know, is a flagship phone, and Xiaomi officials have been calling it the 'flagship killer 2.0'. We still have to wait for it to launch officially to see if it's really a flagship killer, but we do know quite a bit about the phone already, including a picture of it. Rumored Specs That We Know So Far The Redmi K20 has been confirmed to sport Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 SoC, which means the phone will enjoy its space as a flagship phone alongside the Mi 9. As a flagship phone, it's safe to say that it'll carry a minimum of 6GB of RAM, although you can also expect an 8GB RAM variant. © Weibo As for the optics, the Redmi K20 will feature triple cameras on the back. You can clearly see all the three cameras in the render. Here', take a look. © Twitter Furthermore, the primary sensor of the phone is said to be a Sony IMX586 with 48MP resolution. It's the same sensor that's being used by OnePlus for the OnePlus 7 Pro phone, and we're quite optimistic about the picture quality. As of now, there's no info about the other two sensors, so we'll wait for more rate than speculating. And if you're a sucker for slo-mo videos then make a note that the Redmi K20 will also support 960fps slo-mo videos. A few other things we know about the phone is that it'll have a Notchless display, it'll have a pop-up camera and there'll be an in-display fingerprint scanner. Redmi K20 Launching in India Soon Here's the best part - The Redmi K20 is said to be coming to India very soon. The same has been confirmed by Xiaomi India's head Manu Kumar Jain. Most amazing & awaited flagship device launch of the year - #Flagship #Killer 2.0! ð I am in China to attend the launch event next week - on 28th May. Only one week to go! ð Mi Fans! Can not wait to show this incredible device to all of you guys.. ð#Xiaomi â¤ï¸ #Redmi pic.twitter.com/eFTRf7P9xF — Manu Kumar Jain (@manukumarjain) May 22, 2019 Well, we don't have an official date for the phone's arrival in India, but we think it'll happen as early as next month.
  5. The Realme X is now confirmed to launch in China on May 15th, according to the company's Weibo account. OPPO's spin-off brand is also rumoured to launch a smartphone that will compete with Xiaomi's POCO F1 and will have specifications similar to the OnePlus 7. It's rumoured to be called the Realme X Pro and the company is expected to launch two smartphones i.e. the Realme X Pro, Realme X, and Realme X Youth Edition, which is essentially India's Realme 3 Pro. © Weibo/Realme In terms of specifications, the Realme X Pro is said to be powered by Qualcomm's latest chipset i.e. Snapdragon 855. It would be the company's first smartphone with the said chipset and is likely to compete with the Poco F1 and even the OnePlus 7. In terms of cameras, the Realme X Pro and probably Realme X are both said to have pop-up selfie cameras which were leaked earlier in a Weibo post. At the back, the Realme X is said to have a dual-camera setup and currently the Realme X Pro's camera specification is not known but could be similar. According to early render leaks, the Realme X and Realme X Pro both don't have a fingerprint sensor so we can assume it may be embedded underneath the front display. © Weibo The Realme X, on the other hand, comes with Qualcomm's brand new Snapdragon 730 chipset which was last month. The new chipset is said to improve the gaming experience, photography, and artificial intelligence (AI). Realme is expected to pair the mobile platform on its upcoming offering with three configurations: 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB, and 8GB + 128GB. © MensXP The Realme X is rumoured to have a 3,680 mAh battery and will have support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology. VOOC 3.0 is said to have an output of 20W of power and will work similarly to OnePlus' Warp charge. Battery specifications for the Realme X Pro are not known yet however it would be similar to the Realme X. © TENAA In terms of display, apart from the in-display sensor, the Realme X is expected to feature a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel and will have a full-HD+ resolution. Both smartphones are expected to be announced at the launch event on May 15th in China and reports suggest that the Realme X Pro variant will be available to buy at a later date and will just be a simple announcement. The Realme X is expected to launch in China for RMB 1,599 (Rs 16,476) and RMB 1,999 (Rs 20,000) for the high-storage variant. Whether these smartphones will be launched in India remains to be seen and it would be interesting to see how the company would price the smartphone.
  6. Google is all set to host its annual developer conference Google I/O tomorrow and the keynote is special for many reasons to Android and Google users. The keynote will be hosted and headlined by CEO Sundar Pichai and we can expect to see new announcements of features, Android Q, hardware across all of the company's products. There is also a good chance that we get an update on other Alphabet (Google's parent company) compares such as Waymo and Nest. Here's what all we can expect from Google's event that is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 10:30 PM IST: Android Q © YouTube Every year, Google announces new features that will come as a part of the annual Android update and we are certain that the company has something in store this year as well. In the Pixel Beta Program, Google has already introduced improved location privacy controls, chat bubbles, pop-up settings menus and a few other new features. Google is expected to announce new features such as native support for screen recording, a new sharing menu and a desktop mode like Samsung's DeX. Google is also expected to add support for foldable devices natively this year just like Google added support for the notch last year. There's a good chance that a new beta will arrive right after I/O keynote concludes and a final release is expected to launch sometime in October 2019. A New Pixel Phone © Facebook There have been numerous leaks in the past that have hinted towards Google launching a cheaper Pixel smartphone. There's a good chance that Google is gearing up to launch the new Pixel smartphone that has been dubbed as Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. The smartphone is said to have similar features as Google's flagship Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL which we will know more about once Google officially unveils the device. An Update On Duplex © YouTube Last year, Google shocked the world with an AI voice that could answer spam calls for you and even make calls to restaurants and make reservations. The life-like voice basically removed the need for a user to deal with annoying calls or rudimentary tasks such as making reservations. "Duplex" was only available in select areas and there is a chance that Google may roll out this feature to new locations or even worldwide. Stadia © YouTube Google announced its new gaming service “Stadia” at the Game Developers Conference earlier this year. There will be some sort of update on the gaming service and how it would work with Google's products such as Pixel Devices, Chromebook, and Android devices. According to Google, data centres will enable Google to provide game streams up to 4K at 60 frames per second. Google is also making a custom Stadia controller that has dedicated buttons for capturing gameplay and sharing footage on YouTube directly. A small army of data centres will enable streams in up to 4K at 60 frames per second (with support for 8K and 120 frames per second on the way), and customers will have the option of purchasing a custom-designed Stadia controller with a capture button that shares in-game experiences directly to YouTube. Google Assistant Updates © BCCL Generally, Google brings new features to Google Assistant every year since its launch and we could expect some new services and features that will use machine learning and artificial intelligence. We could also expect new updated on Google Home devices or a Google Hub Max. Will you be watching Google I/O tomorrow with us? What features and new updates are you most excited about? Let us know in the comments below.
  7. 'Avengers: Endgame' has now sold 2.5 million advance tickets before the final chapter in the Marvel Studios' Super Hero franchise Avengers hits the theatres tomorrow. According to BookMyShow: “This marks the highest ever advance ticket sale for a Hollywood film on the platform. 'Avengers: Endgame' is also the fastest film to have surpassed the 2 million advance ticket sales mark on BookMyShow.” Seems like nothing is going to slow down the ticket sales of the highest anticipated movies of this year. Even though the movie was leaked in full yesterday, it is not deterring fans from watching the movie in a proper theatre. Indians already broke the record earlier this week by pre-booking tickets for 'Avengers: Endgame'. In fact, over 1 million tickets were sold in 24 hours. © Marvel Studios Speaking about the audience reception, Ashish Saksena, COO - Cinemas, BookMyShow, said, “With just a few hours left for 'Avengers: Endgame' to hit the screens, the frenzy around the film is unprecedented. The cinemas are doing everything possible to match fans' demand for the film, including round-the-clock screenings as also opening up advance bookings for the entire week ahead. This has enabled BookMyShow to offer several more options to Marvel-lovers and cater to their excitement. As the craze around the film continues to intensify, we expect a mighty opening on Friday and a record-breaking first week.” © Marvel Studios It would be interesting to see how many more tickets will be booked once the movie has been released and more shows get added. It seems like ticket sales for Endgame won't slow down anytime soon. In fact, you're one of the people who doesn't have a ticket and want to avoid spoilers, you can follow our how-to guide here. For the first time ever in India, 'Avengers: Endgame' will be screened 24X7 in select theatres across India.
  8. It's been long rumoured that Google is expected to launch cheaper versions of the Pixel 3 and the name of the new smartphone may have accidentally been revealed by the search engine giant. These smartphones have been referred to as Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite. However, there are new indications that these phones will be called Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. © 9t05Google The listing on the Google Play Store confirmed that the smaller Pixel 3a will have a 5.6-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. The larger XL variant is said to have a 6-inch display and have a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. In terms of RAM configuration, both smartphones are said to have 4GB of RAM. Other specs include Android 9 Pie, Snapdragon 670,12-megapixel rear camera, and 3,000 mAh battery. Earlier last week, 9to5Google noticed that Google accidentally made the page for the two rumoured phones live on the Google Store. This is indicative that the Pixel 3a may launch very soon as Google is gearing up for the impending launch. The two phones were bestowed the code name “sargo” and “bonito” respectively and both names were references in the first Android Q beta release. © Twitter Are excited about a cheaper Pixel smartphone? Do you think it will take advantage of Google's computational photography? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below. Source: XDA Developers, 9to5Google
  9. It's Game Developer's Week and Google just stole the show with a game streaming service called 'Stadia' that challenges the current status quo of the gaming industry. The service will let users stream AAA demanding games to PC, Mobiles, Tablets, Chromecast and Laptops from the cloud and is expected to launch sometime in 2019. Having said that, the streaming service is not scheduled to launch in India anytime soon. There are many contributing factors such as low internet speeds and general infrastructure that is currently not up to the mark when compared to the US, Canada, UK, and Europe. If you want to know how Stadia works and what all it can do, you can read all about it here. © YouTube However, India is one of the fastest growing markets for internet services where the country is the second largest market for smartphones. India also has the cheapest internet plans across all service providers which has increased the number of internet users in India tenfold. For Google, this is potentially the biggest untapped market as mobile gaming in India has become the preferred choice of platform for Indian gamers. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla With the sudden success of PUBG Mobile, demand for gaming smartphones has increased ever since the phenomenon took over the country. It proves that India has a huge pool of gamers on smartphones that have made games like PUBG a huge success. Smartphone gaming is extremely important for Indian customers and Google's new service can potentially provide AAA gaming to an audience that can't afford to build their own PCs or buy new consoles. For many, it will be a first-time experience that will no longer be exclusive to the affluent or passionate gamer. Gaming Is Expensive In India © MensXP Gaming is an expensive affair in India and if you want to get a real feel of India's gaming scene, Akhil Arora from NDTV paints the true picture in his piece here. Games are generally sold in India for $60 ( a direct conversion) for an audience that does not earn in the same currency. The story gets worse for hardware because of India's harsh import duties and taxes on gaming consoles. As NDTV points out “A salaried middle-class Indian has to work 9-14 times more to afford a PS4.” It's a real problem here that can be resolved by Google's Stadia platform. Not only does the streaming service makes games accessible and cheaper, but it also lets users play games on devices they already own. For the first time in India's gaming industry history, AAA gaming can be mainstream and affordable thanks to services like Stadia. What Are The Barriers? © Youtube Let's face it, India does not have the required infrastructure to support game streaming at the moment, at least on a large scale. Even though ISPs now offer Gigabit connections, it's still not as widespread as it should be. Having said that, India is on the path of rapid Digital development with companies like Jio making fibernet accessible and affordable for the average Indian. Latency is the obvious issue here that needs to address which we can only know when Google Stadia launches. © Reuters Coming back to smartphone gaming, 5G is said to support smooth game streaming, however, we won't see 5G services launch in India before 2021. In fact, we don't even know how well game streaming will run as it has not been tested in the real world yet. Having said that, the future does look bright for Google Stadia in India, as the country's infrastructure is growing at a rapid pace and doesn't look like it will slow down anytime soon. Sure, it may be a few years away but sooner or later, Google Stadia will change the game for an average Indian gamer. Are you interested in Google's Stadia platform? Would you like to play AAA games on your smartphone or tablet? Let us know in the comments what you think about Stadia.ee
  10. PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, as we all know, is a fairly demanding title. Hence, Bluehole Corporation launched a Lite version of the game earlier this year to make it more accessible. It was available in Beta for selected markets around the globe, but now, it looks like the title could soon be made available in more markets via Steam. In the latest March Dev Letter, the developers noted that the title is being added to Steam soon. The letter says, “PUBG LITE is aiming for PUBG STEAM version.” So, not only will the game be made available in more markets, but it'll be made available through Steam, which is always a good thing as it's more convenient. © PUBG Since the title is essentially a 'Lite' version of the original game, you'll be able to play it even on a moderately powerful PC. Here's a quick look at the minimum requirements: · OS: Window 7, 8, 10 · CPU: Core-i3 clocked at 2.4GHz · RAM: 4GB · GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4000 · HDD: 4GB As of now, there's no official word on the game's availability on Steam, but you can expect to learn more about it in the next dev letter or maybe even sooner than that. Additionally, the March dev letter also talks about some other changes in the game like new weapons, dynamic gunplay and more. You can read all about it here.
  11. It's finally time to get our hands on the 'Pokemon Go'-style Harry Potter game. The game is about to launch soon and will be called 'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite', and is probably the most anticipated AR game ever since 'Pokemon Go'. © Niantic The developers behind the game have put 'Harry Potter: Wizards Unite' up for pre-registration on Google Play and App Store. As of now, there's no word as to when the game will actually launch as a concrete date has not been set yet. All we can be sure of is that the game will launch very soon. However, you can see a slight preview of the gameplay here (https://www.harrypotterwizardsunite.com/post/hpwufirstlook/) that basically shows off the game's capabilities and AR features. The video confirms that the game will work very similar to 'Pokemon Go' as you will run around in the real world doing magic duels and capture creatures/items. © Niantic If you are interested in playing this game, we would recommend you pre-register on Google Play and the App Store as soon as possible. You will be alerted as soon as the game is made available for download. The game has been developed by Niantic, the same developer behind 'Pokemon Go' in partnership with Warner's Portkey Games label. The game will basically add an overlay of the wizarding world on the real world. The game draws influence from both Harry Potter movies, books, and the Fantastic Beasts franchise. © Niantic The game will also use some real-world locations to transform them into Inns in the game. Players will also be able to discover Portkeys that can transport players to iconic places from the franchise. Locations such as Ollivander's wand shop in Diagon Alley are also discoverable. Players will also be able to team up with others for duels, using spells to defeat enemies like Death Eaters and Dementors.
  12. This year we've seen three midrange phones sport a 48-megapixel rear camera in India -- Vivo V15 Pro, OPPO F11 Pro, and Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro. The on-paper number war has been going for years and we've seen phone makers play around with internal storage as well as the RAM. © MensXP With the current 48-megapixel offering, brands have tried to lure users by numbers. They take this a step further by merging four pixels into one for low-light shots, and in turn deliver sharper pictures with better details. Every brand wants to establish itself as a smartphone photography expert, but, what's the limit in this number game? © PC World Even before we can think of a number, Qualcomm has revised specifications of its processors. XDA Developers was the first one to discover this, and the updated spec sheet includes better single and dual camera capabilities, advanced slo-mo recording, and a new feature called Hybrid Autofocus. But, what stands out the most is the support of sensors up to 192-megapixel. The list of chipsets to now support 192-megapixel picture captures are Snapdragon 670, Snapdragon 675, Snapdragon 710, Snapdragon 845 and Snapdragon 855. Before you get all amped up, please note that this is just a theoretical value. Don't expect a 192-megapixel phone soon since there are a host of challenges to overcome. © XDA Developers / Snapdragon 855 Updated Sheet Firstly, you'd have to get your hands on a 192-megapixel lens and there are none available right now. Sensors that support this resolution cannot be suddenly squeezed down to fit in an ultra-portable smartphone. Secondly, the chipsets can support a single 192-megapixel lens only, and cannot be accompanied by a secondary lens or even a front camera. To facilitate this large resolution, Qualcomm is incorporating zero shutter lag and eliminating multi-frame noise reduction. One major take away from this update is that modern chipsets or the ISP (image signal processor) have come a long way and Qualcomm is constantly improvising. © Nokia On the other end of the spectrum, Nokia is trying a new approach of adding different lenses onto a single phone. The Nokia 9 houses five rear cameras with Zeiss certified lenses, that are joined by three 12-megapixel monochrome sensors and two 12-megapixel RGB sensors.
  13. Apple's iPhone, as we all know, carry a hefty price tag in India, thanks to the import duty that gets slapped on them. Yes, Apple does manufacture the compact iPhone SE and the iPhone 6s in the country, but you still need to have deep pockets to afford one of the newer and the premium iPhone models in India. But it looks like that's about to change soon. Wistron's factory application for a new $1 billion factory in India was just approved by the country's IT ministry, which means Apple will soon have an additional manufacturing unit here in India. The new factory will be manufacturing Apple's iPhone 8, in addition to the iPhone SE, 6S, and AirPods. © Reuters Additionally, the Foxconn project is also in progress, which could be commissioned to assemble the rest of the iPhone line-up including the new iPhone XS, XS Max and XR. This new plant will truly help Apple circumvent the extremely high tax rate, thereby making the iPhones a lot more affordable. By participating in the "Make in India" initiative, Apple is not only helping the Indian economy, but also in improving its market share here. When asked about the benefits of manufacturing the iPhones in India, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “Openness of India's democratic polity, where creativity is recognised and respected, adds its own incentive. We gave little incentive and you saw how many people came.” Source: PhoneArena
  14. Tencent Games recently pushed an update for PUBG Mobile, which introduced zombies in the game as a part of their limited time event. It's a result of a collaboration between 'Resident Evil 2' and Tencent, and it's quite intense. You might want to check out some tips and tricks to survive the zombie attack. If the YouTube creator MrGhost Gaming is to be believed, then it looks like we'll be getting a new zombie mode where the players themselves might get to become zombies. © PUBG Corporation Yes, you read that right. PUBG Mobile could soon be getting an update following which you'll be able to play as a zombie and hunt down other normal players. There's no official word from PUBG Corp. or Tencent as of now, but the mode is being speculated to arrive with the next update. © PUBG Corporation In one of his recent video, MrGhost Gaming claims that PUBG Mobile published a Facebook post last month collecting feedback and new ideas for the zombie mode. The post seems to have been deleted now as we couldn't find it on PUBG Mobile's official page, but the video does suggest that the developers were onto something similar. © PUBG mobile/MrGhostGaming As a zombie, you won't be able to pick up any weapons or other items, and you'll be dealing with the human opponents using only melee attacks. It's also being speculated that this new mode might be made available in custom rooms, so you can play with your friends. It is said to arrive with the version 0.13 or the 0.14 of the game, so keep your eyes peeled for the same.
  15. Yes, you read it right. If things do go right, ace musician Bappi Lahiri soon might be the sound master for one of the Marvel movies in the near future. He is already in conversation with the production team and things are looking good for him. © Instagram Well, if you remember, his song 'Jhoom Jhoom Baba' was used for 'Guardians Of The Galaxy' back in 2017 and even Chris Pratt was taken by surprise. "I am currently in talks with Marvel Studios. They had used my song Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom baba. Chris Pratt, the hero of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2, had really liked the song. So maybe a song (by me) will be used in their next film. I will go to Hollywood in April," Bappi told IANS in a telephonic interview. Bappi Lahiri will also be seen in a fantastic collaboration with rappers Snoop Dogg and Akon as well. Bappi Lahiri is already making a movie this year titled 'Ek Adhura Sangeet' © Instagram If you're wondering about a possible biopic on the interesting man, well, he has had the same thought. There is nothing in the pipeline yet but he wants Ranveer Singh to play his role, if at all this happens. The man has a career that expands over 4 decades, so well, are you ready to listen to some Bappi Da in the next Marvel adventure?
  16. Microsoft Courier was a concept that combined two screens to fold over like a book, with a stylus for taking notes. We've already seen foldable phones that sport multiple displays, and Microsoft wants to bring a similar form factor to laptops. The most important element of a new form factor has to be its user interface. What's the use of integrating new specs, but the same old OS that adds nothing new to the end experience? To counter this, Microsoft could be working on a new "Windows Lite" OS that brings in support for dual displays. © PC World According to The Verge, Windows Lite's "interface will be similar to Windows as it exists today," but incorporate aspects of Microsoft's giant Surface Hub display and its Windows Phone Continuum interface. This means the company will focus on keeping touch as a primary mode of input. If the new software turns out to be a success, Microsoft could use it in single screen devices as well. Essentially, this would make it a direct competitor of Google's Chrome OS. The upcoming OS version is said to be the stripped-out version of the original OS instead of a completely new OS. © Microsoft Chrome OS may have a very tiny market share, but it has taken over the budget and low-end segment massively. For a normal user who needs a machine to access the browser, check emails, and complete basic tasks, Windows 10 is turning out to be very bulky. According to Windows Central, Microsoft is using the codename “Santorini” to refer to the shell work it is doing to make Windows Lite look and feel different than the Windows 10. Further reports from ZDNet add that Microsoft could also ship a dual-display laptop. © Microsoft This isn't the first time Microsoft has tried to create a lighter version of Windows. The new S-mode supports just Microsoft Store apps, but the OS carries along a lot of baggage from the legacy OS. Even before the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft had a brief stint with Windows RT, and it turned out to be a huge failure. This time around, the company is hoping to create a niche segment that offers a new form factor and bring in the much-needed portability features.
  17. 2018 was a tough year for West Indies batsman and former skipper Chris Gayle, especially when it came to becoming a part of his national team to represent his country in international matches and tournaments. Bad form, injuries and controversies infested the cricketer's career to the point that he wanted to say goodbye to the sport for good back then. What made him stay in touch with the athlete in himself were the league-level tournaments that are now being hosted by most of the top cricketing nations after the success of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Big Bash League, Pakistan Super League, Bangladesh Premier League, you name it and Gayle was there. However, 2019 brought the hitter some good fortune as the selectors decided to give him one more chance with the ODI series against the visiting England cricket team and another opportunity was all the self-proclaimed 'Universe Boss' was looking for. Playing on a superhuman level Gayle has scored 135, 50 and 162 runs in the first, second and fourth ODI matches against the Englishmen, not only becoming the first person in the history of international cricket to hit more than 500 sixes but also only the second West Indies cricketer to have more than 10,000 runs. What a record! ð³300 sixes and 10,000 ODI runs for the Universe Boss, Chris Gayle! ð´ð´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿#MenInMaroon #ItsOurGame #ChrisGayle #GayleForce pic.twitter.com/aM3nDeduSa — Windies Cricket (@windiescricket) February 27, 2019 Even though Eoin Morgan's side is turning out to be way too much of a competition for the Windies, Gayle on his own, is reaching for the stars with his new-found form. Having publicly announced his decision to seek retirement after the ICC World Cup 2019, Gayle is now having second thoughts about his farewell. Overruling their own decision to part ways with the game they love isn't something new as players like Sachin Tendulkar and Shahid Afridi (obviously) have also done so in the past. And clearly, for somebody with Gayle's need to stay in the limelight, the thought of retirement has to be short-lived. "I just have to work on the body, and then maybe you can see a bit more Chris Gayle. Things change quickly,” Gayle said after losing a nail-biting fourth ODI against England. “Hopefully, the body can change in the next couple of months and we can see what happens. What's the matter with the body? I'm nearly 40. But could I un-retire? We'll see. We'll take it slowly." Never change, Universe Boss.
  18. Video games may change as we know it, thanks to a new space that is going to be occupied by Google and even Apple. Companies like Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony need to be on the fence, as Google is about to enter the highly profitable video game business with Project Stream. Game Developer's Conference is about to take place next month and Google is said to unveil its gaming streaming service. The invitations were sent out for the March 19 keynote, however, did not mention the topic of discussion. © Gooogle The gaming unit is going to be building on the success of Project Stream where games will be running on the cloud and streamed directly to a PC, Tablet, TV or anything that has a display. The experience, however, still remains to be seen as the games will be streamed, and different types of internet connections may affect the overall experience. Laggy connections are a major concern when streaming games which could be a huge factor when considering a streaming service. The new streaming service is said to compete directly with Steam, the Epic Games Store and even consoles. Google is not the only tech giant that is looking into the video games industry, rumours suggest that even Apple is also looking at announcing its own version of a gaming console or a subscription service. © Gooogle Currently, Sony's streaming service called PlayStation Now offers 650 games on the PlayStation 4 which includes classic and catalogue titles. Microsoft is also looking into the game streaming, as the company has started public trials for Project xCloud which will let gamers stream Xbox One games to computer, phones and tablets. 19. Xiaomi's several social media accounts and executives have already revealed much of the Mi 9's design and hardware specifications. The phone will be launched on February 20 and the company is planning to showcase the device at MWC 2019 as well. CEO Lei Jun has highlighted that the screen-to-body ratio of the upcoming Mi-series flagship will be higher than what was featured on last year's Mi 8. It is also reported to have a Samsung made AMOLED display panel with Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The display shall also house an integrated fingerprint scanner that Xiaomi says will be 25 per cent faster. © Xiaomi / Weibo The company has also given a sneak peek at the Mi 9's display, highlighting its thin bottom bezels. The phone is also confirmed to carry an eye protection mode to reduce blue light impact. Additional specs include a 90.7 per cent screen-to-body ratio, a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display, and a smaller water-drop style notch. It shall also sport the third generation ultrasonic proximity sensor for better accuracy. Obviously, the phone will be powered by a Snapdragon 855 chipset along with a 3500mAh battery. © Xiaomi / Weibo On the rear, it shall have a 48-megapixel primary wide angle sensor, 12-megapixel secondary telephoto sensor with PDAF and lastly, a 16-megapixel ultra wide angle sensor. The front shall have a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The device will use pixel binning technology to output 12-megapixel images in low light conditions for improved image quality. Xiaomi claims that the ultra-wide angle camera supports 4cm macro photography. Additionally, the company has also revealed that the triple rear camera module is protected by a layer of sapphire glass that is claimed to be extremely durable and resistant to scratches. © Xiaomi / Weibo Jun has also confirmed that the Mi 9 will come with reverse charging technology, something we expect to see onboard the Samsung Galaxy S10 as well. The phone shall ship with MIUI 10, based on Android 9 Pie. The top variant could come with 512GB internal storage as well as 10GB RAM. The Mi 9 is expected to come with a starting price of CNY 2,999 (Rs 30,000). Colour options currently include Black, Blue, White, and Gold.
  20. Apple is gearing up to launch its rumoured streaming service as soon as early April or May and is one of the many subscription services Tim Cook has already confirmed. The streaming service will feature shows Fromm HBO and other channels, however, will not feature existing services like Netflix. © YouTube The streaming service will essentially bundle different streaming platforms into one subscription that Apple customers can buy. Apple device owners will be able to buy and watch in a dedicated TV app on iOS. Apple already boasts more than 50 million subscribers for its music service and it is possible that we could see a similar number for the video service thanks to the sheer number of Apple devices out there. Apple is believed to be investing at least US$1 billion in content and has acquired the rights to a new series starring and co-produced by American actresses Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. © Apple Having said that, Apple's new video service will compete directly with Netflix for streaming eyeballs. When Netflix first started streaming its content, it already has a plethora of content lined up to keep everyone busy. Apple may struggle to achieve the same in the beginning as it would pack only a handful of shows at first. It would be interesting to see how Apple will populate its streaming service for users. Apple's new subscriptions service will be somewhat similar to Amazon Prime. The Cupertino giant is expected to offer a subscription plan that will include music, video and news. Whether it would be enough to sway customers towards the service; only time will tell.
  21. It's February right now and there are two kinds of people here—the first category which is waiting for Valentine's Day and the other happy category which is only awaiting the arrival of Winter in April when the final season of 'Game Of Thrones' drops. While we have been hanging on a cliff-hanger since the epic finale of the last season dawned upon us, the wait keeps getting harder since 2018 was a no-show for 'GOT' lovers. The makers have promised that the wait will be worth it, so I guess we have to trust them. However, to announce that the winter is truly arriving soon, the makers have shared some new pictures from the final season. While a few are happy ones, some look very pensive in nature, especially our Cersei looks pretty tensed for sure. 22. Amazon has started removing a wide array of products from its website in India after the country's new e-commerce policy kicks in from today. A lot of exclusive products and brands have disappeared from the marketplace since the company has no option, but to comply with the new norms. In December, the Indian Government modified foreign direct investment (FDI) rules for the e-commerce sector, and this has highly disrupted the sales model of Amazon and Flipkart. To start with, marketplaces can no longer sell products exclusively on their platform. So, every brand that was earlier closely associated with the company, has been removed from the platform. © Reuters The new investment rules bar online retailers from selling products via vendors in which they have an equity interest. Numerous products from sellers like Cloudtail are no longer available on the website since Amazon has an equity stake in the seller. Even products from Shopper's Stop have been removed because Amazon owns five per cent stake in the retail label. Amazon and Walmart-owned Flipkart have tried to lobby against the new rules, but to no avail. In fact, Amazon's own line of Echo speakers has been taken off the shelf. Amazon had written to the Indian Government asking for a four-month extension to comply with the new rules, a company spokesperson said. But, there has no update on the proposal's consideration from the authorities. © Reuters Amazon has warned of widespread disruption due to the new policy and according to Reuters, the policy could "have undesirable impacts on the continued growth of e-commerce in India." Flipkart said that it was "disappointed that the government has decided to implement the regulation changes at such haste," but said it was committed to complying with the new rules. © Nikkei Asian Review The new policy comes amid intense lobbying by India's small and medium scale enterprises who have been most hit due to the marketplaces. They accuse the platforms of stockpiling goods at wholesale rates and then offering deep discounts to grow sales. The Confederation of All India Traders, which says it represents more than 70 million local retailers, warned the government against granting an extension on the enforcement of the new policy. Direct changes on Flipkart's website remain unclear right now, but we're sure a lot of exclusive apparel labels are going to disappear soon. The policy has received a mixed response since smaller traders are happy with the speed bump. Nationalists believe foreign marketplaces were playing around FDI rules to get a foothold, and in return damaging the country's existing merchants. Update: Amazon has reached out to confirm that Echo speakers and a few other products are now back on the website, and available for purchase.
  23. If you've ever faced an issue of running out of storage space, you may have invested in a good microSD to cure your woes. However, using a microSD comes with limitations as smartphones can support only a limited amount of storage. In fact, only the Galaxy Note 9 can support an SD card with 512GB of expandable storage, making it the first smartphone to support a total of 1TB storage. However, we all know that internal storage works at least 10 times faster than a memory card and it seems like Samsung is looking to remove this problem altogether. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Samsung is known for making premium smartphones; however, the South Korean company also has a very profitable memory division. The company already dominates the SSD segment for PCs and laptops and the company is now taking the game to the next level for smartphones. Samsung announced that it has started to mass produce a 1TB flash storage chip for smartphones and is going to scale production by the first half of the year. © Samsung “Smartphone enthusiasts will soon be able to enjoy storage capacity comparable to a premium notebook PC, without having to pair their phones with additional memory cards,” Samsung said. Currently, Samsung makes a chip that is capable of holding 512 GB of memory and can be found on the Galaxy Note 9. The new chip is said to add double the amount of memory without ever having to use an external memory card. This new chip is also said to improve performance with faster write and read speeds. Samsung says that the new tech reaches speeds up to 1,000 megabytes per second (MB/s). This roughly translates to transferring a 5GB video file in just five seconds. The new memory chip will also help Samsung smartphone cameras to take better videos with higher resolution and frame rates. © Samsung However, we may not see this new tech on a smartphone just yet as it is still in production and won't be ready in time for the Galaxy S10. However, there is a good chance that Samsung may make a 1TB model of the Galaxy Note 10 if production is scaled in time. This is just pure speculation and there's no way to know right now whether Samsung will implement the new 1TB storage with the Galaxy Note 10.
  24. If you've enjoyed the Netflix original Indian series 'Scared Games', then I am sure you'd be happy to know that the pop-culture induced show will be back again for season 2. The show will definitely be packaged brand new, while the crew has decided to shoot in foreign shores for the second instalment. © Netflix The show will be concluded in Africa and we hear co-star Saif Ali Khan just finished shooting in Mumbai, while Nawazuddin had a long shoot schedule in Africa. We're hearing all sorts of stories about the show and the shoot, but the best one so far is Nawazuddin teasing the fans of 'Sacred Games' claiming the second season of the hit Netflix series will be the 'baap' of season one! “This season will be the baap of the first one. Even if people know Ganesh Gaitonde, they won't know what to expect from him. We shot extensively across Mombasa, Cape Town and Johannesburg,” - Nawaz told a popular entertainment weekly. © Netflix In the series, Nawazuddin plays the character of Ganesh Gaitonde, a gangster who is trying to trace his origins, while Saif, in a parallel plot plays Sartaj Singh, a cop who is trying to save Mumbai from an impending attack. Gaitonde was killed in the first episode of season one and the story is a narration of his past in a flashback. Season two. However, there will be more depth in his character, as the story will unfold his life further, unfolding nuances of his relationship with 'Guruji', played by Pankaj Tipathi, who was shooting in Africa for season two as well. As the show moves ahead with its plot, Vikramaditya Motwane will step down as the co-director for season two and the reigns will be given to Neeraj Ghaywan who directed 'Masaan', with Anurag Kashyap. Nawaz and Anurag have created some good history together and they'll be seen joining forces once again in 'Sacred Games'. “When Anurag is working with me, he is constantly pushing me to break my own boundaries. It comes from familiarity and my ability to go on a roller coaster with him. As an actor, I am someone who enjoys twirling myself up.” Nawaz told a popular entertainment weekly. © Netflix Nawaz didn't realise earlier how phenomenally hit the show was as he wasn't tracking its success on Netflix, where it was originally aired, neither did he know about how many people were watching it, not just in India, but in the western world too. In fact when he was shooting in Rome, he was caught off guard by a few people who recognised him and wanted to click pictures with him. “I realised the impact of the show when I was shooting in Rome, a week after its release. People came up to me to click pictures. My team would show me the memes that were doing the rounds on the Internet.” © Netflix We really hope season two is way more tight and interesting and really does turn out to be the 'baap' of season 1!
  25. The AirPods have been one of Apple's most successful and groundbreaking product that is due for an update by the Cupertino giant. The AirPods have been selling like hotcakes ever since its launch and it seems like a brand new version is on its way. It was revealed a few days ago that component suppliers believe that the successor to the wireless buds is on its way. Suppliers believe that it will likely be called AirPods 2 and will be launched in the first half of 2019. We've already reported about new biometric capabilities that may be a feature of AirPods 2. In fact, you can read about previous leaks and speculations here. © 9to5Mac Having said that, there's now a new leak that may point towards a feature we've always wanted on the AirPods. The leak was spotted by 9to5Mac and comes from a very unlikely source — Apple itself. The latest beta version of iOS 12.2 was rolled out to developers and in the setup screen, 9to5Mac discovered the new upcoming feature. In the set-up screen, it clearly says: “Talk to Siri with your AirPods or iPhone by saying 'Hey, Siri'.” © 9to5Mac This tells us that you can now access Siri by simply saying “Hey, Siri” which means the new AirPods will be smart enough to hear the prompt. It will work similar to how it works on the Apple Watch and on iPhones. In fact, just like other Apple products, it may be able to recognise your particular voice. It could be possible that this new feature may also be coming to existing AirPods however we aren't entirely sure if the onboard chip will be able to do so. © Pexels The new AirPods 2 is also expected to come with a new wireless charging case that will work with Apple's wireless charger called 'AirPower'. It is very likely that Apple will launch the new AirPods, the new wireless charger and even new iPads at an event scheduled for March 2019. Source: 9to5Mac
