  1. David Schwimmer who plays Ross Gellar on 'Friends' confirmed that the main cast will be coming together soon
  2. Spotify is going to bring high-quality streaming in the form of Spotify HiFi which will be extended to premium subscribers soon. Spotify has not mentioned which markets will be getting the upgrade first, however it might be possible that India will be one of them. Audio enthusiasts tend to prefer to stream music with better quality and Spotify is making that request come true. Amazon already offers HD audio streaming on its platform, however the collection is quite limited. Apple Music currently does not offer any form of HiFi audio streaming which gives Spotify an edge over its main competition. Here are some of the things you should know about Spotify’s HiFi streaming feature: 1. Lossless Audio © unsplash Spotify uses something similar to Apple’s AirPlay called ‘Spotify Connect’ which is used by many third-party speakers including some of Amazon’s Echo devices. Spotify will be working with some of the world’s biggest speaker manufacturers such as Sonos to deliver the same lossless experience for audio streamers. This means that your in-home audio systems will also be able to play lossless audio in your living room or in my case, the bathroom. 3. It Will Be a Separate Tier © unsplash Even though Spotify was a bit late to launch its own lossless audio solution, users of the streaming service have been demanding the feature for a very long time. However, Spotify has been working on the feature for a while so that it gives users a seamless experience. It would be crucial to make the new experience work in tandem with the app framework that already exists without alienating existing users. 5. Will It Feature Indian Music? View the full article

  4. Essential, the smartphone company launched by Android co-creator Andy Rubin has now been sold to OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei. The Essential brand has now been acquired by UK based ‘Nothing’; Pei’s latest venture for consumer technology products. © Essential The news comes from a report by 9to5Google, which states that Nothing might be getting to smartphones considering Pei’s success with the OnePlus brand. We already know ‘Nothing’ will be launching wearables and smart devices in the near future and it seems like Essential’s acquisitor will make the ecosystem come full circle. © Nothing We still don’t know what Nothing will do with the Essential brand, however, the logical next step would be to launch smartphones. Now that Nothing owns all of Essential’s trademarks, logo and branding, we could soon see Essential smartphones. Nothing founder Carl Pei wants to bring back artistry and passion to consumer technology and with Essential’s design language that could very well be possible. © Essential Essential smartphone, the Ph-1 has been awarded in the past for having a great design and still remains a favourite amongst fans. Essential’s minimal design language and focus on bloat-free Android could be the reason why Pei opted to buy the brand’s intellectual property. Carl Pei started OnePlus with the same ethos and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see it carried forward with the Nothing brand. Having said that, it could also be possible that Pei was interested in the “Essential” nomenclature more than anything and probably wants to call one of the products with that name. Nothing is currently working on a pair of TWS earbuds according to rumours. We can’t really say when one can expect a smartphone from the Nothing or Essential brand. Nothing is expected to reveal something new very soon as suggested by the countdown on its website. Source: 9to5Google View the full article
  5. In case you are keeping a track of the development around Android 12, then you probably already know that the first developer preview of the next version of Android is right around the corner. In fact, we've even started seeing more leaks around Android 12. Now, the folks over at XDA Developers have discovered that the dessert codename for Android 12 is Snow Cone. Yes, Google did stop using dessert codename for its new Android releases for the public with Android 10 a couple of years back. We're honestly just sad that it's not a thing anymore because it was a fun way to call out different versions of Android. Not to mention, it was much easier to remember them that way too. © Unsaplash The dessert naming tradition, however, continues internally within Google's development team and they went with Snow Cone for Android 12. This was found in the Android 12 source code. According to XDA, many of the development branches carry the prefix "sc" and it refers to the "Snow Cone" dessert name. It's similar to "rvc" prefix that was used for Android 11 since it was internally called "Red Velvet Cake". That being said, Google won't be using the Snow Cone name to market its next version of Android. But we enthusiasts can call it Snow Cone instead of tying out or saying Android 12 every time while referring to it. We think it's a really cool name for the next release and we can't wait to check it out. © Unsplash As for the new features, we already have some leaked info that tells us what to expect from Snow Cone. You can expect to see some UI changes, a game mode, a new one-handed mode, anti-tracking features, and a whole lot more. We'll definitely be learning more about Android 12 in the coming days and weeks as we get closer to the first developer preview's release date. We'll keep an eye on the developments and all the features, so stay tuned to us if you want to learn more about Android 12. Source: XDA Developers View the full article
  6. The PlayStation 5’s launch has been a bit rocky in India due to limited supply and overwhelming demand for the next-generation console. Many customers were unable to pre-order the console while many confirmed orders on various e-commerce websites were cancelled due to overselling their allotted stock. However, it’s likely that the fresh stock of the PlayStation 5 might land in the country sometime next month i.e. March 2021. © unsplash According to a report by IGN India, multiple customers started to reach out retailers like Croma to get an exact date of the PS5 to restock. Independently verified by IGN India, the PS5 is expected to be available sometime in March 2021. As of now, an exact date has not been detailed but we’ve reached out to Sony for further clarification. It is worthy to point out, Sony India hinted at fresh PS5 stock when the console sold out on various platforms. “PS5 has been met with unprecedented enthusiasm by PlayStation fans in India, resulting in a stockout during the pre-order period. Please stay in touch with retailers for the next pre-order phase” Sony India said last month. © MensXP_Akshay Bhalla Sony India is yet to make the PS5 Digital Edition on sale in the country and it could be a possibility that the digital variant might be available for purchase next month. As of now, there is no news when the digital version of the PS5 will be available to purchase in India due to low expected demand. India still prefers using physical disks for consoles due to a healthy used games ecosystem and could be the reason behind the console’s delay. © Reuters IGN India also reports that some Sony Centers have started to accept cash deposits in advance for the restock that is expected to land in March. The PlayStation 5 is in strong demand in India which has led to many scalpers trying to sell the console at a premium on classified websites like OLX. It is worthy to point out that the PlayStation community in India have revolted against scalpers and successfully reported ads that were selling the PlayStation 5 above the maximum retail price. The PlayStation 5 is currently the hottest gaming console that we feel is console gaming at its best right now. You can read our full review to know more about the console and how it performs with next-gen and PS4 games. If you are confused about which console to purchase, you can check out our detailed comparison here. Source: IGN India View the full article

  9. Ever since FAU-G was first announced late last year after the ban of PUBG Mobile, we all knew that Akshay Kumar was involved with the game. He was actively promoting it online on his social media channels. Now, NCore Games has officially confirmed that the Bollywood actor was indeed a part of the development. As noted by IGN India, Celebrities taking interest in video games is nothing new. But Akshay Kumar was apparently very active in terms of reviewing the builds and sharing feedback. Ganesh Hande, Co-Founder, and COO at Ncore Games. noted that he was very much involved in the process. © NCore Games “He has been frequently reviewing the builds and sharing feedback so definitely yes, he was a part of the development,” he said. Additionally, the FAU-G anthem was also made by Kumar and his team, which is awesome. The same was confirmed by Ncore Founder and Chairman Vishal Gondal. “He said ‘I am going to make the anthem and give it to you’,” recalls Gondal. Akshay Kumar gave them various feedbacks as to how the characters and weapons look. More interestingly, Akshay was also very keen to have a dog in the game. Ncore games noted that the game won't have any dogs, at least at launch. But we won't be surprised to see them later in future builds of the game. © NCore Games FAU-G, for those of you who don't know, comes out on January 26. We're less than a week away from its official release and honestly can't wait to play it. There's a lot of hype surrounding the game and it has already surpassed over 4 million registrations online. We can only imagine the number of downloads the game will see on the release date. Ncore Games has also indicated that a version of the game for low-end devices is on the way as well. On the release day, FAU-G will be available to play on iPhones, iPad, and Android devices. You can pre-register for the game on the Play Store right now, and the App Store listing will go live on the release date. Stay tuned for info on the game. Source: IGN View the full article

  11. We’ve all wanted a GTA-style game set in India and it seems like we will be finally getting our wishes true. ‘Mumbai Gullies’, an open-world game set in, well, Mumbai, is all set to launch for PC on Steam. Indian studio ‘GameEon Studios’ recently uploaded a trailer of the game that shows what we can expect from it. © GameEon Studios From the trailer, we can see the city of Mumbai brought to life with prominent locations such as Dalal Street, haphazard traffic and sweet foot vendors. The trailer showcases the graphics of the game which look quite impressive considering this is an independent game. The trailer launched with the description “a game inspired by the amazing contrast of life of Mumbai city. A city where the landscape changes every few meters. At one glance you could see towering skyscrapers and on the other glance you could see miles long slums.” At some point in the trailer, we see a red sedan, similar to what we see on the street of India, navigate itself from the chaotic traffic of Mumbai. Much like real life, the car comes very close to other vehicles and narrowly avoids collision; an experience many Indians have to go through in cities every day. © GameEon Studios Not much else is known about the game apart from the fact that it is an open-world first player experience. There is a good chance the game might explore the fictional criminal world of Mumbai similar to themes of Grand Theft Auto. Of course, we don’t expect the game to be on the same scale as GTA however it’s quite reassuring to see Indian game developers like ‘GameEon Studios’ develop games that could one day be at par with International AAA titles. If you want to see what the game is all about, you can check out the above trailer that showcases ‘Mumbai Gullies’ in full swing. A release for the game has not been unveiled as of now however the trailer did suggest it will be launching soon. In other news, FAU-G, a mobile game developed by Indian studio nCore games amassed over 4 million pre-registrations and is all set to launch on Republic Day. View the full article

  14. Hike Messenger is one of the most popular apps in India and it's got millions of daily active users. But sadly all those users will now have to find a new home because the Hike Sticker Chat app is shutting down very soon. The same has been confirmed by the app's founder and CEO Kavin Bharti Mittal. He said they're shutting down the app in January 2021 but the HikeMoji will continue to live in its other services. The service is shutting down despite having millions of daily active users who spend approx 35 minutes on the app. © Hike It looks like the app hasn't been as successful as the company hoped, and Mittal recently posted that the international apps are too strong for India to have its own Messenger app. Mittal tweeted the info and noted that the app will shut down in January 2021. He further added that all user data will be available to download in the app. HikeMoji will continue to be available in two of its apps - Vibe and Rush. © Reuters Hike Sticker Chat was launched back in April 2019 with over 30,000 stickers. By December that month, it had over two million weekly active users. Mittal even confirmed that the app would start generating revenue in 2020. Clearly, there's been a change of plans and it looks like Hike Sticker Chat isn't as successful as they thought it would be. 17. POCO has launched a couple of new good phones this year after its short break. We're super excited to see what POCO has in store for us next year. And if the reports are something to go by, then it looks like we have some really cool things coming from the company. According to a new report, it looks like POCO is working on a new laptop. We don't have any official confirmation or teasers for the same. But what we do have a screenshot of BIS certification shared by a reliable tipster, Mukul Sharma. Here, check it out - 2 new laptop batteries (R15B02W, R14B02W)have now received the Indian BIS certification, but this time they are listed under the POCO branding. POCO laptops? #Xiaomi #POCO pic.twitter.com/fNeP3kEFTG — Mukul Sharma (@stufflistings) December 17, 2020 As you can see, the certification shows two battery models under POCO and the Mi brand. This points towards the possibility of Mi laptops being rebranded as POCO laptops for the Indian market. POCO has already launched rebranded products here in India, so this doesn't really come as a surprise. image 1 - POCO That being said, there's no official confirmation on the same, so it's best if we reserve our speculations for later when we have more info. The company is expected to drop some teasers at the beginning of next year, and we can't wait for that. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of it. We'll keep an eye on the updates and share more info in the coming weeks and months. View the full article
