  1. Gill was arrested for allegedly visiting different polling stations during the by-elections in Muzaffargarh with his security guards, who were dressed as FC personnel
  2. Singer and musician Himesh Reshammiya, who often makes headlines for his hit songs, recently got papped with his wife Sonia Kapoor at the Mumbai airport. The couple was supposedly on their way to another place when they were approached by the paparazzi. The Bollywood singer-composer posed with his wife for paps, however, drew the attention of social media users for a completely different reason. View this post on Instagram A video is currently doing the rounds on social media in which Himesh is standing on tippy toes to match wife Sonia Kapoor's height while posing with her. As soon as the video was posted on Instagram, netizens started trolling him for his action. At the airport, Himesh was dressed casually in a print shirt, jeans, and white sneakers. Sonia, on the other hand, was dressed elegantly in a white pantsuit. Watch the video here: View this post on Instagram Reacting to the video, in the comments section, an Instagram user wrote, "Height choti pad gayi bhai ki, pose dekhi kaise feets ko hawey mei lekar de rahe hain". Another user commented, "Kaha tha na complan piya kro ab per uthana pad raha hai na camera ke samne". A third user wrote, "Heels pehen leta bhai". Here are the reactions: © Instagram © Instagram © Instagram © Instagram For the unversed, Himesh tied the knot with actress Sonia Kapoor in 2018 and the couple is in a happy space since then. They often share stunning pictures with each other on social media. Himesh was recently seen as one of the judges on the singing competition show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Vishal Dadlani and Shankar Mahadevan were the other two judges on the show, which was hosted by Aditya Narayan. Himesh has served as a judge on a number of reality series, including Sur Kshetra, The Voice India, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs, Love Me India, and Indian Idol. Besides singing, composing, and judging reality shows, Himesh has also acted in several films including Aap Kaa Surroor, Radio, and The Xpose. View the full article
  3. Saina Nehwal had no idea that her tweet sharing her thoughts about the security breach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Punjab would become a national talking point. She wrote, "No Nation can claim itself to be safe if the security of its own PM gets compromised. I condemn, in the strongest words possible, the cowardly attack on PM Modi by anarchists.” View this post on Instagram She was attacked by Siddharth and the sexist nature of his reply to Saina got him in major trouble. Siddharth quoted Saina's tweet and wrote, "Subtle cock champion of the world... Thank God we have protectors of India. Shame on you #Rihanna.” People bashed him for disrespecting Saina who has got so many medals for the country. Sauna’s husband and father also condemned Siddharth’s tweet and demanded for an apology. View this post on Instagram After receiving widespread criticism and backlash, Siddharth has apologized to Saina. In an apology letter posted on Twitter, Siddharth wrote,"Dear Saina, I want to apologize to you for my rude joke that I wrote as a response to a tweet of yours a few days ago. I may disagree with you on many things, but even my disappointment or anger when I read your tweet, cannot justify my tone and words. I know I have more grace in me than that. As for the joke, a joke needs to be explained, so it wasn’t a very good joke to begin with. Sorry about a joke that didn’t land." "I, however, must insist my word play and humour had none of the malicious intent that so many people from all quarters have attributed to it. I am a staunch feminist ally and I assure there was no gender implied in my tweet and certainly no intent to attack you as a woman. I hope we can put this behind us and that you will accept my letter. You will always be my Champion. Honestly, Siddharth,” it added. Dear @NSaina pic.twitter.com/plkqxVKVxY — Siddharth (@Actor_Siddharth) January 11, 2022 You might be thinking this controversy ends with his apology but then you are probably wrong as people aren’t convinced and have dragged Parineeti Chopra into the whole fiasco. Yes, you heard it right. So, Parineeti played the role of Saina in her biopic. It chronicles her journey from being a girl from Haryana to becoming a world champion. It also traces her bond with her parents and touches upon gender-related taboos in our society. People are upset with the fact that Parineeti didn’t stand up for Saina when Siddharth posted the sexist statements. People are brutally bashing her for being a hypocrite and calling all the Bollywood celebs selfish human beings. One of Twitter users wrote, “Parineeti Chopra played the role of #SainaNehwal in movie but she didn't speak a single world when her industry mate Siddharth used derogatory words against Saina just because she was concerned about P.M Modi's security Bollywood just knows how to play with emotions & make money.” Here are the reactions: © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter © Twitter Do you agree with people’s opinions? 6. The poaching of rhinos is one of the most ruthless and dangerous activities against wildlife in which they are illegally trafficked and killed for their horns. Single-horn rhinos across Asian countries are poached and their horns are sold to make medicines to be simply kept or ‘gifted’ as a symbol of status and wealth. © iStock A few days ago, in a conservation effort by the Assam government, 2479 horns of single-horned rhinos were burned to ash to save the species from brutality and send across a strong message against the practice of poaching. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma led the consignment on World Rhino Day, 22 September 2021 to condemn and discourage rhino poachers. © Twitter/Himanta Biswa Sarma He shared the pictures of the ‘daha sanskar’ of thousands of rhinos illegally killed for their horns and credited PM Narendra Modi for this. He wrote, “Today is a historic day for Assam & India. We have taken an extraordinary step of burning stockpile of 2479 horns of single-horned Rhinos, first-of-its-kind globally in volume terms, pursuing vision of Hon PM Sri @narendramodi of putting an end to poaching in Assam.” Today is a historic day for Assam & India. He wrote “Thank you, @narendramodi! A global leader standing up for the planets rhino species! If only more leaders would do the same. And this is the reason why rhino numbers in India are rising exponentially! What a hero!” Thank you, @narendramodi! A global leader standing up for the planets rhino species! He realised the rhinos of Africa and Asia are losing habitat and are poached for their horns. This prompted him to take steps to save the animal, like setting up a foundation called Saving Our Rhinos Africa & India (SORAI). © Instagram/Kevin Pietersen He was impressed by the conservation efforts by the Indian government led by PM Modi and thus, thanked him publicly for his work and vision towards the planet, which is great! 7. After almost a two-year-long battle with Coronavirus, theatres across the world are slowly rising up back to their feet, enabling people to visit cinema halls and watch movies once again in a safe manner. Moving past that, the season of the release of the most exciting movies is upon us - some that we've been waiting for a really, really long time. One of the movies belonging to that list is the upcoming Sci-fi/adventure film Dune starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and Josh Brolin. The Denis Villeneuve-directorial had already been on the watchlist for millions of fans worldwide but the latest scoop of news regarding it should make that number grow significantly further. © Reuters Dune got an amazing eight-minute long standing ovation on its official world premiere at the prestigious Venice Film Festival on Friday. As per reports, Chloe Zhao, the Oscar-winning director of Nomadland (2020), who was a member of the festival's competition jury this year, apparently rushed through the aisles to congratulate the film director. © Reuters © Reuters She hugged Villeneuve and called the film "fantastic" amid the standing ovation where the crowd could be heard roaring and applauding the cast and crew for eight minutes. During the festival, star actor Timothee Chalamet along with the rest of the star cast had a couple of press screenings in the morning before they stepped out on the red carpet just before the big unveiling of the film at 7 pm. While Chalamet, who is a very popular figure among Gen Z, garnered a lot of attention, there was no denying that the star power of the complete cast added another dimension to the event. © Reuters Zendaya and co-stars Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgard, and Chen Chang were all seen walking the red carpet arm-in-arm with director Villeneuve and Chalamet. The film, which is the adaptation of Frank Herbert`s 1965 sci-fi classic of the same name, will be released across cinemas in Europe from September 15 and in the US and HBO Max on October 22. In terms of its release in India, the Legendary Entertainment and Warner Brothers' production film will be in theatres on October 15. Excited much? View the full article
  8. India’s Tokyo Olympics campaign got off to a flying start as weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal on the opening day itself. Chanu’s medal changed the mood in the whole country as people congratulated her and celebrated it as their own success. Even the high-profile meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the chief ministers of north-eastern states came to standstill when they heard of the news. © Reuters So proud of @mirabai_chanu for clinching the silver medal in the Women's 49kg Weightlifting category at the #OlympicGames. Wishing you all the very best for your future endeavours. pic.twitter.com/C6d4twJLWk — Amit Shah (@AmitShah) July 24, 2021 After the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh broke the news during the North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) Society meeting, the Home Minister stood up, reached out for his microphone and described it as a “moment of great pride for India” and even gave her a standing ovation. Then, he did something that nonone expected him to. He gave the champion athlete a standing ovation for doing the whole nation proud. The Manipur CM got in touch with Chanu over a video call and told her how the leaders reacted after learning of her historic silver medal. So good to speak to our Champion @mirabai_chanu today.@narendramodi @AmitShah @ianuragthakur @JPNadda @blsanthosh pic.twitter.com/1phL16ibh3 — N.Biren Singh (@NBirenSingh) July 24, 2021 “During the meeting, I broke the news of your achievement in front of all the chief ministers of the northeastern states. I told them that Mirabai Chanu has opened the tally for India in the Tokyo 2020 with a silver medal. On hearing the news, Amit Shah ji was so delighted and reached out for the microphone and said ‘It’s a moment of great pride for India’. Everyone along with Amit Shah ji gave you a standing ovation,” Singh told Chanu over video call. After facing disappointment five years ago at the Rio Olympics, Chanu even wanted to quit the sport altogether. On Saturday, she overcame all the demons and created history by clinching the country's first-ever Olympic silver medal in weightlifting. What a proud moment. Every Indian is rejoicing this historic accomplishment of @mirabai_chanu at the #OlympicGames . Let us #Cheer4India. https://t.co/iR8KrwFacY — Amit Shah (@AmitShah) July 24, 2021 Singh also announced that the state government will reward her with a sum of Rs 1 crore for making Manipur and the whole country proud. Apart from that, a delighted Singh said she wouldn't have to collect train tickets anymore. “The state government will give you a sum of Rs 1 crore. You won’t be collecting tickets at railway stations and in trains any more. I am reserving a special post for you. I am meeting the honourable home minister in the evening. I am not revealing more details now and keeping it a surprise for you,” he added. View the full article
