  1. In what sadly turned out to be a one-sided affair, the Pakistani cricket team failed to negate Team India's challenge in the much-anticipated clash at Old Trafford at the ongoing ICC World Cup. Overshadowed in almost all facets of the game, Sarfaraz Ahmed's men extended their dismal run against India at the ICC event, following their 89-run loss (D/L) on 16th June. From being wayward in their bowling to paying dearly for their batting collapse, the Pakistani cricket team attracted a lot of criticism from their fans for failing to put up a fight against Virat Kohli's men. While some used Sarfaraz's infamous picture from the game - where he was seen yawning behind the stumps - to highlight their batting woes, others slammed the Pakistani cricketers for their poor fitness. The way he said "criticise the team but within the boundaries of respect" has won my respect. While India's vice-captain left everyone in splits with his cheeky response, boxing star Amir Khan has offered a helping hand to the Pakistani cricketers. 2. If you're a pet parent, then this piece of information will warm your heart and excite you in a wonderful way. Netflix's absolutely beautifully show 'Dogs' is up for a second season. Firstly, a big 'yay' for it, and secondly, the producers of the show are on the lookout for some beautiful tales to tell and are scouting for stories. For the uninitiated, 'Dogs' told the tale of pet parents and their dogs and the role of a dog in a human's life. The episodes made us cry and smile in equal measures because, duh, what else could a story about a BFF with a tail do to you? If you have a beautiful story of your own with your dog or you know someone who does and deserves to be on the show, then one just simply has to go on their social media, narrate their story using the tag @netflixdogs and the hashtag #netflixdogstory. Yes, that is all my dear friends. © Netflix Even if our story doesn't make it to one of the episodes of the docu-series, this is one game we all win because no doggo story is a bad story after all, am I right? The second season doesn't have a set date but will reportedly premiere in December.

  4. Considered to be one of the greatest talents to have ever placed his foot inside the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) ring, Phillip Jack Brooks aka CM Punk made a comeback to pro wrestling five years later since bidding adieu to the business in 2014. However, it was the way in which the former ECW superstar made his comeback to the sport that was unexpected. While a lot of his fans had hoped for the 'Straight-Edge' wrestler's return to wrestling with WWE, Punk decided to make it a smaller affair. To get you on pace with the story, in an MKE Wrestling event called 'The Last Knight' on Friday, a masked man interfered with one of the fights of the evening and hit one of the wrestlers with CM Punk's signature move, the 'Go To Sleep' or the GTS, kneeing him in the head. CM Punk Returned to pro wrestling and this was his big return 𤣠wow ð® CM Punk! CM Punk! #wwe #aew #cmpunk pic.twitter.com/DQc6fR1IvY — Mr. Extra™ï¸ (@WWEMrExtra) April 21, 2019 What made the fans believe that the mystery man want indeed CM Punk was the hoodie he was wearing at the time of the “assault” because earlier in the day, Punk was seen wearing a similar hoodie while attending a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament in the neighbourhood. While the star has neither confirmed nor denied the theory, Wrestling Inc., a well-renowned wrestling news site has shown credibility to it. According to the site, plans were made for Punk to take off his mask after the attack but the star apparently decided otherwise at the last moment. After the self-proclaimed “best in the world” had left Vince McMahon's company in pursuit of a career in MMA he had said that if he were to return to pro wrestling, it would not be on a big stage like WWE of Japan's Ring of Honor (RoH) but a smaller more localised organization. CM Punk is the kind of guy who has the charisma of a champion and a fan following big enough to make any wrestling show draw in major sponsors and make it a big hit. If he is indeed back to the wrestling business, all of us are in for a treat.
  5. Pankaj Tripathi is the man of the hour, and it wouldn't be wrong to say that his time has finally come after a long overdue. From being a hit as Sultan Qureshi in 'Gangs of Wasseypur' and catching everyone's attention, to making Kaleen Bhaiya such an iconic character, the audience just needs to see the man in action once to keep coming back to him over and over again. (c) Instagram Last seen in 'Luka Chuppi' as the goofball Babulal, his charms have now made hundreds of wishes come true as the makers of Irrfan Khan starrer 'Angrezi Medium' roped in Tripathi for a cameo in the film. 'Angrezi Medium' also marks Irrfan's comeback after beating cancer. However, it is Tripathi who is beyond happy to be working with Irrfan in the film. This will be Irrfan Khan and Pankaj Tripathi's first collaboration together, and in a recent interview the letter admitted that he had always wanted to work with Irrfan. (c) Maddock Films Pankaj told the media that, "It is my love and respect for Irrfan and my friendship with Dinoo [Dinesh Vijan] that made me say yes.” Reportedly, Pankaj will be seen in a cameo in the movie, where he will essay the role of a travel agency dealer, who helps Irrfan and his daughter reach UK. It is indeed a terrific news for all Irrfan Khan and Pankaj Tripathi fans, and we are pretty sure that just like us, even they can't wait to watch two of Bollywood's biggest dark horses come together on the big screen.
  6. At just 18 years of age, Muskan Kirar must feel on top of the world after bagging four medals including two golds, one silver and one bronze medal and was crowned the 'Individual Champion' in Compound women category at the 2019 Asia Cup World Ranking Archery Stage-1 in Bangkok on Monday. NEWS. India's Muskan Kirar ð¹ ð®ð³ defends Asia Cup ðð gold in Bangkok #archery ð¹ð¯ https://t.co/Bs0izP4q65 pic.twitter.com/hyIKv4TIXN — World Archery (@worldarchery) March 29, 2019 As sports enthusiasts, we are a sucker for stories that epitomise the rise of classic underdogs and Kirar's narrative does not disappoint. Hailing from the town of Jabalpur, Muskan has never been the one to back away from hard work. In an interview with india.com, her father spoke of her rigorous regimen during which Muskhan spends around nine hours every single day, putting in the effort just to get one step closer to perfecting her craft. And as a dedicated sports person, her achievements speak a thousand words about her sincerity and affection towards the game. Making a stunning debut on the professional level a couple of years ago in 2017, she put the national selectors on notice during the Senior Asian Championship in Dhaka and even managed to reach the Asia Cup Stage-3 the same year in Taipei, Taiwan in the senior category. But the archer was able to win her first gold in the sub-junior category during the 2017 season of National Archery Competition in Bhubaneswar and did not look back ever since. Before dominating the range at this year's Asia Cup, Kirar visited Bangkok in 2018 and had taken 'Krung Thep' by storm and won the gold back then as well. However, a big portion of credit behind Muskan's skyrocketing career must be given to her father Virendra Kirar who runs a butcher shop in their hometown of Jabalpur. “None of us usually talk about my profession as people look down upon it… But with whatever money I earn, I help my children accomplish their dreams,” Mr. Kirar told india.com. A father of three children, Virendra has made sure to not compromise with the sporting dreams of his kids. With Muskan clearly making a name for herself, her father is also dedicated to send his younger daughter Saloni into archery as well while making his boy, Basu, a karate expert. How often do we overlook the wonderful support system an athlete's family becomes for them. Parents like Virendra Kirar, go through hell to earn a living, only to give up on their own dreams and aspirations and make the world happen for their children. While there is no doubt that Muskan Kirar's relentless pursuit of her dreams got her to where she is right now, we have to acknowledge the sacrifices her father has made to make it a reality.

  8. Ahmed Hossam Hussein Abdelhamid, commonly known as Mido, is not a name that would immediately ring a bell amongst football fans. But, the 6-feet-2-inch tall striker has played for Ajax, Roma, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United. And, it was with Spurs that Mido managed to establish himself as a cult hero. During a loan spell from Roma, Mido became an instant hot favourite amongst Tottenham fans as he bagged 13 goals in 36 matches. His clinical performances in crunch matches saw him securing a permanent move with Spurs in 2016. 9. Nearly 44 years ago, 'Sholay' came into our lives and changed the viewing experience for all of us. The lines "Arey O Sambha, kitna inaam rakhi hai sarkar humpe", "Chal Dhanno" and "Yeh dosti hum nahi todenge" became legendary, and you're not a true 'Sholay' fan if you don't remember these dialogues and the song. Sippy Films Most of us weren't even born during that time, but still, all of us love and remember Gabbar and his excitement for Holi, Jai-Veeru and their eternal friendship, Thakur and Veeru's love Basanti and her 'Dhanno'. But, honestly none of them were the real stars of the movie, it was actually a woman named Reshma Pathan, who most of us have barely heard about. Reshma Pathan is India's first stunt woman, who has body-doubled for Hema Malini, Sridevi, Meena Kumari, Dimple Kapadia and many other leading actresses in the 60'. Together forming 'The New Day', these performers have remained on top of the Tag-Team section for more than half a decade now. Some dreams will hit pause today, some others will prevail! An all important final day of #WWETryoutIndia commences! pic.twitter.com/ZsUyhdAqJm — WWE (@WWEIndia) March 5, 2019 The trio is currently in India for the WWE's Tryouts taking place in Mumbai. We got a chance to catch up with the believers of the “Power of Positivity” and asked them a few questions about what it takes for a wrestler to become successful in the WWE. MensXP: Hi guys, we at MensXP absolutely love 'The New Day' and as you could have guessed, we have a huge following for the WWE and of course, you guys. So, why don't we start by discussing your stay here? How's India treating you? Kofi: India is treating us very well. We've been here several times now. People here are so friendly and welcoming is amazing, you know? There's great energy in here and we're happy to be here for sure. Big E: Being able to be part of the crowd in India and seeing the kind of talent and athletes they have here, including some very large and impressive humans as well. Everyone here is so warm and so welcoming. Ohh yes! They are here and they're EXCITED... for #WWETryoutIndia and Indian Pancakes! ð¥ððª@TrueKofi @WWEBigE @XavierWoodsPhD #IndiaWelcomesTheNewDay pic.twitter.com/1Et2I4ENYc — WWE (@WWEIndia) March 3, 2019 MensXP: The New Day is obviously one of the more influential sets of superstars from the current roster. What does it take for a performer to become that successful in an organisation as unique as the WWE? Kofi: It definitely takes passion and drive to be on top. We're always trying to figure out how we can entertain at the highest level. As passionate as the WWE Universe is, they deserve it. You're going to get told “no” a lot and you have to figure out how you're going to succeed. The 'Power of Positivity' is not just something that we preached on TV. We bring that mentality to the workplace. Big E: From a physical standpoint, being in great shape helps. People see it on TV and they think: “Oh, I got this,” and they find out that it takes a toll on you, so you have to be in great shape. You look at The Rock and the Stone Cold, those guys had it both. The athleticism and the ability to capture people's attention. Xavier: We are on the road for 200 days a year. You have to be mentally prepared for because that's one of the parts that people don't really talk about. What we do outside of the ring is rewarding. For instance, visiting the children's hospital and being part of anti-bullying campaigns. .@WWE Superstars visit @CHNOLA ahead of #Wrestlemania34 https://t.co/Dr6V4v2Vgl pic.twitter.com/SunfZjRHuz — Children's Hospital (@CHNOLA) April 6, 2018 MensXP: What's the thought process that goes into coming up with a good gimmick? Also, who came up with the idea of The New Day as a concept? Was it you Xavier? Xavier: Yes. So for me, a gimmick or character is always better when it's you. At this point, if we were trying to be some tough dudes coming out kicking chairs all over, it's not something that necessarily fits what we are like in our personal lives. The three of us having this chemistry as the New Day, that has made it a lot easier and a lot more fun for us. MensXP: Are WWE stars possessive about the entrance music and the signature moves. How would you, Kofi Kingston react if you see Big E trying the 'Trouble in Paradise'? Big E: Well, can you imagine me attempting to do the 'Trouble in Paradise'? I would never! *Laughs* Kofi: If he can do the 'Trouble in Paradise', he can have the move. It would be the most impressive thing that I would have seen in a long time. It'd be all love. It's all good. Big E: I think for a lot of us, the keys to the business is standing out and having an identity that is memorable. So, I don't think we're possessive in a sense but yes, you want to stand out There's definitely people who are defensive, but for us, we kind of feel like we're in a nice niche. SUPER SUNDAY JUST GOT BETTER! ð The New Day has arrived and receives the traditional Indian welcome. ð¤©#TheNewDayInIndia #WWE #SPNSports @TrueKofi @WWEBigE @XavierWoodsPhD pic.twitter.com/kRJF84KtcO — SPN_Action (@SPN_Action) March 3, 2019 MensXP: You guys have the most bizarre narratives like coming out of the cereal box at Wrestlemania 32. So, how important is the art of storytelling for WWE superstars as yourselves? Xavier: It's everything. Yeah. Storytelling is huge. That's what captivates people and gets people's attention. It's great to be a great athlete, but if you're just a body, who really cares? In our industry, some people are great athletes but if they don't tell a story and they don't draw people in, they are no good. Big E: I think the best thing going right now in WWE is Kofi's story. After 11 years of being on the main roster and never getting that opportunity. That resonates with people. They are reacting the way they are because they've been along with him for this journey. Storytelling is huge.
  11. You know what they say about ruining a classic, or that sometimes it's not a good idea to relive an iconic moment, as it could go all kinds of wrong? Well that's the tricky bit with sequels as well. We really want them and while sometimes they work well and end up making a movie into a successful franchise, other times it leaves a bad after taste, like expired chocolate. The good news is that we totally trust Imtiaz Ali to make a great movie and that's why reports are quoting that 'Love Aaj Kal' is finally having a sequel! First of all, let the fact that it has been a decade since the first instalment came out, sink in deep ( time flies and how!), secondly, the star cast includes two of the biggest millennial actors enjoying immense fame right now, i.e Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan. Interestingly, Sara was very vocal about her crush on Kartik and how she'd love to go on a date with him. In return, after Ranveer Singh tried to play cupid, Kartik was also very vocal about his admiration for Sara on 'Koffee With Karan'. © Instagram Earlier, there were rumours about Saif also being a part of the movie but that's probably not happening. The movie is all set to go on floors in a week's time and will also star Randeep Hooda in a pivotal role. Now, let's just hope that it's not ruined, and becomes one of those sequels we end up loving.
  12. One wink, just one wink was all it took for Priya Prakash Varrier to reach the star-status. Arguably the biggest viral sensation we've seen in this country last year, the actress became everyone's crush overnight and for weeks people couldn't stop talking about her. image1 It seemed like everything was going right for her, but something good doesn't last forever. This year, Priya's only been surrounded by controversies and has had an overall negative response from everyone, from her upcoming movie 'Sridevi Bungalow' to a kissing scene that has now surfaced online. A scene from 'Oru Adaar Love', the same movie where the famous wink scene comes from, is now online and it shows Priya and her co-star Roshan Abdul Rahoof kissing while dressed in their school uniform. So basically, they're showing school kids kissing and it's obviously not sitting well with the very conservative Indian audience. Here's what everyone is saying. #PriyaPrakashVarrier #OruAdaarLove Stop creating bad influence among the school kids...will u accept if it happen to ur child... 13. When you reach the level at which cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli are right now, you are allowed to have expensive hobbies like collecting extremely luxurious and limited edition rides. These cricketers not only have the craving for some of the finest cars in the world by also the money to fulfil their dreams. Here are some of the fanciest rides owned by star Indian cricketers: 1. MS Dhoni © Ferrari Mahendra Singh Dhoni's love for superbikes is unparalleled. But the cricketer is also a sucker for SUVs, American Muscle and Italian stallions. Having owned Hummer H2 and the GMC Sierra 3500HD, Dhoni's car collection is massive. But the ride he really fawns over is the extremely powerful Ferrari 599 GTO with a top speed of 335 kph and a V12 engine roaring under the hood. What's unique about Dhoni's GTO is that the car may be a gift for the skipper who led the team to the 2011 World Cup victory. There were only 599 pieces of the Italian beauty that were made by Ferrari and Dhoni's was even more special as it had the Indian tricolour painted in the front. Price In India: N/A 2. Sachin Tendulkar © Reuters Truly passionate about his rides, Sachin Tendulkar's garage has been home to almost all the iconic rides, be it a Maruti or the Nissan GT-R. However, the fanciest ride owned by the God of cricket has to be equally divine. We are talking about the 1499cc beast you might have seen in the Tom Cruise starrer 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol'. The BMW i8 is Sachin's favourite ride and we can see why. In an interview with Hormazd Sorabjee, Tendulkar says that he loves to drive the car, especially early in the morning when there aren't a lot of people on the road because the car is a “traffic stopper”. Price In India: Rs. 2.25 - 3.3 Cr* 3. Virat Kohli View this post on Instagram The new audi R8 . Its a BEAUTY. Iam blown away. What a brilliant machine. And so stunning as well. ðððð»#audi#beauty#beast. A post shared by Virat Kohli (@virat.kohli) on Feb 3, 2016 at 4:46am PST Ever since his childhood, Indian captain Virat Kohli has shown a lot of interest and passion towards Audi, the German automobile manufacturing company. With an already vast collection of extremely (extremely) expensive cars, Kohli boasts an 'all-Audi' collection which includes SUVs like Audi Q7, Audi S6, Audi A8L W12 Quattro and Audi R8 V10. However, the ride that Kohli would claim to be his show-stopper is the Audi R8 LMX which the star bought in 2015. With a top speed of 320 kph and 570 horsepower and torque of 398 lb-ft. Price In India: Rs. 2.97 Cr. Onwards 4. Suresh Raina © Instagram/Suresh Raina From small cars like Mini Coopers to literal giants like Range Rovers, Suresh Raina is a man of many tastes. Like an ideal son, Raina also gifted a blue Mercedes-Benz GLE 350D for his parents in November 2017. Having said that, Raina has admitted that the Porsche Boxster Limited Edition that he bought in 2013, on the occasion of his father's birthday, is the car he is most fond of. The got the car painted yellow as it represented his IPL team, Chennai Super Kings. The Porsche Boxster is a two-seater which consists of a 3436cc engine with maximum power noted at 315bhp@6700rpm. Price In India: Rs. 1.1 Cr.* 5. Yuvraj Singh © Bentley Nothing short of going nuclear on the field, Yuvraj Singh has been an absolute beast when it came to hitting the ball out of the park during his prime. His love for automobiles has been well documented and he has, on numerous occasions, said that collecting expensive cars has been his true passion. The fact that his mother has forbidden him from riding bikes made him focus only on cars. Not specific to a particular brand, Singh owns a BMW X6 M, a BMW M3 Convertible, an Audi Q5 and a Land Rover Discovery Sport for casual outings to the beach or maybe even the barbershop. But when Yuvi is really feeling it, the big guns come out. Reported to have bought a Lamborghini Murcielago LP 640-4, powered by a 6.5-litre V12 petrol engine and 640 horsepower. For more classier times, Singh brings out his Bentley Continental Flying Spur, the epitome of luxury. With a shiny black exterior and blood-red interiors, Singh's Bentley is nothing short of royalty in its own and is the most expensive car in his backyard. It is believed that former Indian opener Virender Sehwag also owns the same ride. Price In India: Rs. 3.22 - 3.8 Cr*
  14. Famous for its beautiful mountainous landscapes and holy shrines, the Indian state of Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) has truly lived up to its tag of 'paradise on earth'. If the natural beauty enticed the visitors, the artistry of local artisans further allowed the J&K handicrafts industry to make a name across the globe for their exquisite designs and craftsmanship. But, the Indian state that was once labelled as the 'Valley Of Paradise' has undeniably become the 'Valley Of Death'. Today, this strife-torn state is only famous for the bleak stories of violence, lethal attacks, militant insurgency and never-ending protests. The education system has degraded to the extent of almost being non-existent. The infrastructure is still a work in progress. The supplies are limited. And, to top it all, the presence of Indian military forces has led to restricted movements of the locals in their very own state. While the situation is not yet ideal in the region, the youth in J&K have found solace in sports in a bid to escape all that has affected them and their families over the years. We've seen the likes of Parvez Rasool making a name for himself in cricket, and, more recently, the spirited Real Kashmir football team proving their mettle in the ever-competitive I-League. Now, the beautiful state of J&K has given India another sporting gem in the form of Saqlain Tariq. © Pro Volleyball League Born in Poonch - one of the most remote districts of J&K, bounded by Line of Control (LoC) on three sides, Tariq has spent a major part of his life hiding from insurgency and consistent shelling which often resulted in the loss of life and property. Evacuating his house, taking shelter in makeshift places and haunted by the fact that any moment could be his last; Saqlain faced it all. While the youngsters of his age would ideally find themselves cribbing over gadgets and other material gains, Saqlain was just happy to be alive. In a place where breathing was no less than a luxury, Saqlain knew that there wasn't much he could do. His education took a toll, getting a job was always going to be difficult and the future looked bleak. But, just when all hope seemed lost, the 21-year-old found a ray of hope in volleyball - a sport that gave him an identity and made him feel that he mattered. Picking up the sport at the age of six, Saqlain's journey in volleyball was greatly influenced by his family's support and enthusiasm for the game. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for my family. They've supported me in the thick and thin of life. All my achievements in volleyball is an outcome of their beliefs in me," emotions get the better of Saqlain as he credits his family. "Since I could remember, my father was running a local volleyball club in Poonch. He used to take me to the practice sessions when I was a kid. Over the years, I developed a liking towards the sport. But then, there were some problems. It wasn't that easy," the 21-year-old reveals before getting comfortable in the couch. © Pro Volleyball League Saqlain's mother, just like our own, was overwhelmed by the fear of losing him every time he went out to practice. "She (mother) was really concerned about my well-being. Given our state of affairs, she was probably right in her own domain to fear for my life. After all, she had lost her loved ones and seen too much in her life. But, this is where my dad stood out and ensured nothing was going to affect my growth as a volleyball player," he adds further. Honing his skills and improving his game at his father's facility, Saqlain's talent was just too hard to go unnoticed. And, this when his father Mohammad Tariq Khan, a state-level volleyball player himself, took a call that would eventually change the life of his son. "My father couldn't make the cut for the national team. And, he knew, if I stayed here (J&K), my fate will be the same. I would have faced survival issues and, maybe, I would have become a stone pelter. So, against the liking of my mother and other family members, he sent me to Khanna (near Ludhiana) for studies," Saqlain recalls with a smile on his face. But, for a youngster who shares a close bond with his parents and never left his home earlier, staying away from family wasn't easy for Saqlain. "I was there (in Khanna) for a few months before the homesickness crept in. For the first time in my life, I was on my own, dealing with day-to-day problems by myself. It took a toll on me. And, as a result, I told my father that I want to return home," the 6-feet-3-inches tall player reveals. "My father spoke to the warden to grant me a few days leave and I returned home. I was happy that I was finally going to see my family and all. But, my father wasn't happy with my decision. When I reached home, my father didn't speak me to me once. And, after a day or so, I realised why. Realising the sacrifices of my parents and the dreams they had for me, I was left with no option, but to return to Khanna. And, the moment I told my father about my decision, he was elated," Saqlain talks about the learning curve that went on to play a pivotal role in his journey as a volleyball player. © Pro Volleyball League Since that day, there was no turning back for this youngster. He played his first nationals for J&K when he was in the eighth standard and rose through the ranks on the back of an improved showing in the domestic circuit. Soon, he found his way into the national team. Named as the captain of the Indian team, Saqlain had his international outing at the Asian Championship in Sri Lanka in 2014 when he was just 17. Thriving in the position of a setter, Saqlain also went on to represent India at the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) Games where he played a crucial role in his side's bronze-medal finish last year. "When I went abroad to participate in the international tournaments, I was kind of shocked to see the level of competition there. Countries like China, Japan and South Korea have dominated the sport in Asia. But, the fact that Iran surprised everyone with a gold medal in men's volleyball at the 2018 Asiad shows that it's all about improving. It was something that we (Indian players) can learn from. That's why I always cherish international exposure," Saqlain makes a valid point. On the back of hard work and perseverance, Saqlain, then, managed to convince U Mumba Volley to shell out a whopping Rs 1.1 lakh for his services in the upcoming edition of the Pro Volleyball League (PVL). An initiative of Baseline Ventures and Volleyball Federation Of India, the first edition of the PVL is set to begin on 2nd February with Kochi Blue Spikers taking on U Mumba Volley in the first match. The league will see six teams fighting for the title which will be lifted by the winner on 22nd February in the final in Chennai. "I have waited for a long time to get an opportunity like the Pro Volleyball League. I want to thank the Volleyball Federation of India to bring such a league to the fore. It is going to be very beneficial for players like me. Since it also involves foreign players, the league will help us in improving our game by learning new things from them. It's a great platform for the Indian players to prove their mettle and popularise the game in the country," Saqlain lauds the advent of Pro Volleyball League. © Pro Volleyball League As a 21-year-old, Saqlain's love for Punjabi songs and, more particularly, for Bohemia might make him just another youngster, but when asked about his message for the youth in the Valley, Saqlain answered with maturity. "Sports are the need of the hour for the Kashmiri youth. I have so many youngsters calling me up and seeking guidance. And, I always encourage them to brave all odds and maintain their self-belief. Our state has so much talent across sports, but the lack of facilities and training centres hasn't helped their cause. I would really urge the concerned authorities to take notice of the talent from the Valley and nurture them with a prospect of making the country proud," Saqlain signs off. Coming from a region where people have a hard time focussing on their lives, Saqlain didn't just survive, but he concentrated on the very thing that acted as an escape route from all the hardships - his love for volleyball. From living in fear to becoming the first spiker from his state to represent India in any age group, Saqlain, at a tender age, has become a beacon of hope and is the perfect embodiment of success derived against all odds, on the back of persistent hard work.
  15. The first trailer of 'Spiderman: Far From Home' dropped a couple of days ago, and it was the perfect distraction from all the incessant worrying that we have been doing about the fate of literally everyone in 'Avengers: Endgame'. However, Tony Stark's absence from the trailer did not help, with everyone already crying about his death, which people think is quite evident after this trailer, when it's actually not. But, we all have been on the internet long enough to know that the only way people online deal with emotions or excitement is memes, every time, without fail. So, obviously, a huge new trailer is the perfect meme opportunity. From ignoring all the apparent clues about Tony's death to finding even better reactions to that hilarious Happy-Aunt May interaction, here's how Twitter reacted to the trailer. Before that, on an unrelated note, here's the international trailer with some extra scenes in case you haven't seen it yet. Now, back to the memes! Same energy. 16. We are almost two months away from the 91st Academy Awards and before the nominees are announced, critics are busy making their predictions about the front runners of this season. One of the most talked about categories is definitely that of the best actress in a lead role. This year, women have played some incredible characters and have been a part of some of the most thought- provoking stories. They are giving a neck-to-neck competition to each other and it is too difficult to ignore any of them. We have finally made our predictions of the top five, read below to find out the names of actresses who may get nominated for Oscars 2019: 1. Lady Gaga- A Star Is Born Film critics and fans around the world are making their bet on the strongest contender of the year in the best actress category i.e Lady Gaga. The global sensation is not only one of the best singers who ever walked on Earth, but she has also given a tough competition to many brilliant actresses of her generation. 'The Star Is Born' is Gaga's first shot as an actress in a lead role in a mainstream film. In the Bradley Cooper directorial debut film, Gaga plays a pop singer and is the most natural version of herself. She is simply phenomenal. 2. Glenn Close- The Wife Though 'The Wife' has not earned any major traction at the box-office and is neither commercially successful, critics are calling it Glenn Close's performance of a lifetime. Glenn (Joan Castleman) plays an ignored wife of a celebrated author and in her very riveting act, strongly comes into view from the sidelines. Sadly, in her long career in Hollywood Glenn has never received a single Oscar nomination, but this role has strengthened her position for the upcoming awards season. 3. Melissa McCarthy- Can You Ever Forgive Me? After doing plenty of films in the comedy genre and even similar kind of roles, Melissa McCarthy makes a turn in her career through an outstanding performance in 'Can You Ever Forgive Me?' This is the third film McCarthy has acted in this year and she has indeed given us a glimpse of her caliber. Melissa plays a celebrity biographer Lee Israel who turns into a literary forger. Her role is intense and very intelligently portrayed, something not many have done so far in this genre. She was nominated in the best-supporting-actress category for 'Bridesmaids' in 2012 Oscars and we are suspecting she takes the lead under this year's nominations. 4. Viola Davis- Widows The director of '12 Years a Slave' brings another thoughtful film having a first-rate ensemble cast including the likes of Liam Neeson and Daniel Kaluuya. Academy Award winner Viola Davis gives a moving performance in 'Widows' and has thus strengthened her stand for the best actresses category. Viola who is Veronica in the film not only mourns the loss of her husband, but also fights the evil in a never seen before avatar! Davis is super talented anyway and her involvement in the film is a plus point, especially with respect to her career. This role has transformed Viola as we have watched her doing some very serious stuff over the years now. She is here to give a tough competition to others; her last Academy win was for 'Fences'. 5. Toni Collette- Hereditary Toni Collette gives a tour de force performance in 'Hereditary', a film that is too exceptional to be ignored. Though we are not really sure if the Academy would recognize the film due to its horror genre, we can expect it to be an exception on the lines of 'Get Out'. Toni Collette who plays a disoriented Annie Graham has made sure to capture the audience's attention and holds onto it. She scared to the core with her unbelievable performance and one can't avoid looking at her, even during the most terrifying and heart-sinking junctures in the film. Honourable Mentions: . 17. Ranveer Singh And Deepika Padukone's wedding has been pretty much the only topic that has been trending in Bollywood of late, till of course Nick-Yanka also joined the bandwagon. The last leg of the celebrations were held yesterday in Mumbai, where pretty much everyone was invited. While everyone looked like a million bucks, we couldn't help but notice one young lad, who fit right in, yet stood apart. We are talking about Arjun Tendulkar, the designated Prince of Indian cricket (Is Sachin the King or the God? Anyway, you get the drift). (c) Viral Bhayani Arjun looked like someone whom KJo will just swoop right in and sign a bunch of films with. His blingy yet sophisticated blue kurta, paired with the black Patiala trousers were understated, yet statement. (c) Viral Bhayani (c) Viral Bhayani What was striking about his appearance was how tall he looked. Well, he was standing next to his father, who's not so tall himself, so that helped a bit, but the outfit gave him a lot of height. The pairing of blue black in the ratio he wore them in had a lot to do in that area. (c) Viral Bhayani We also liked the fact that he chose to be basic, yet dignified. The choice of plain black Oxfords tell us that he's a no-nonsense kind of dresser who sticks to the tasteful basics. (c) Viral Bhayani All we can say is that, if he someday decides not to play cricket anymore, Bollywood will knock on his door right away. All the best, Arjun!
  18. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's much-awaited wedding is just around the corner and the prep for the sangeet has already started! But while the entire world is trying to sneak a peek into what the main event beholds, which promises to be a mega event of the year, one needs to look beyond the fairytale setting, and at the mastermind who is bringing DeepVeer's wedding fantasy to life. View this post on Instagram #monthoflovewithwdc #friendship #sonamfabiani #manishmalhotra #vienna #fun #relationships A post shared by Vandana Mohan (@vandanamohan_wdc) on Feb 2, 2018 at 10:34pm PST The name is Vandana Mohan and she is the one who is pulling the threads on every minute detail related to Bollywood's mega event of the year. Here's the story about the Delhi girl who dared to dream differently, fought her own battles and came out victorious in a field that worked to weaken a woman's stronghold over it. The Backstory Today, Vandana Mohan may be known as the magician who can bring every extravagantly, fantastic wedding to life in the country, but initially, when she started out, Vandana was like any other middle-class Delhi girl. An army brat, she majored in Political Science, wished to get into JNU and work for the United Nations, before fate took a different turn, and she landed in the journalism- filmmaking industry. Her Career Trajectory Her brush with filmmaking soon spilled onto to script-writing and anchoring, which gradually turned into production. She started working as a consultant with a Chinese production company in the 1980s, where she later went on to become the production head. Soon she took the decision to do her own thing on the career front, and went on to launch her own event management company in 1989 called the Backstage Productions which handled corporate events and luxury brand launches. After that initial success, Vandana has never looked back. Today she is the face of the Wedding Design Company which has successfully organised hundreds of wedding in India and abroad. Her list of clientele includes names like Sonam Vaswani-Navin Fabiani and Parth Jindal and Anushree Jasani, besides planning the wedding of Tanvi Jindal in Florence in 2010 and Tarini Jindal in 2011. Her company was also responsible for the glam weddings of other high profile people such as Prince Shivraj Singh and Princess Gayatri Kumari, Vikram Chatwal and Deepak Parekh's son amongst others, with the most recent being Deepika and Ranveer's. Charting Her Own Path When Vandana started out, the field of event planning hadn't gained a lot of popularity, and whatever people knew about wedding planning, it was thought to be a “man's world”. Thus, when she started out she was met with a lot of resistance in terms of ideologies and work as well. Not only did she bring her all-women team to the forefront and bagged international clients such as Moet Hennessy, Gucci, Ford Motor Company and Chanel, but also brought structure and finesse to the entire process. What Makes Her Special Vandana and her team are known for their professionalism that is well maintained with a personal touch. She ensured that a structure was being followed in the wedding industry, and coupled those with processes and responsibilities by introducing estimate sheets and a list of detailed service fee for her clients. Her signature touch involves flowers that tell their own stories while paying close attention to the “big dreams” people hold for their wedding. Coco Chanel's individuality inspires her and she respects Anand Mahindra for his multifaceted genius. Vandana Mohan is a woman of her own league and she's rightly called the wedding belle.
  19. Nepotism has been the biggest buzzword in the film industry ever since that 'Koffee with Karan' episode with Kangana Ranaut aired but looks like things are getting better for the 'outsiders' of the industry. It's great to see that so many self-made actors are finally getting recognized for their talent and finally getting the attention they truly deserve. Ayushmann Khurrana is one of those actors and he's proved his talent and worth over and over again, twice just this month as well. After being a part of two brilliant movies – 'Andhadhun' and 'Badhaai Ho' – just two weeks apart, he's probably made a fan out of everyone who watched these movies because he was, and always has been, very relatable. But, entering Bollywood without a 'godfather' or a last name like 'Kapoor' or 'Khan' was not an easy task. He started off his career by being a RJ, a VJ, and taking part in several reality shows before reaching where he is now, so yeah, this guy really has worked for everything. So, when asked if he felt like he had to work harder than the star kids to get where he is, he did agree but also said that it didn't matter much. He said, “My debut, Vicky Donor, was when I was 27. If I was a star kid, it would've been 22. I don't think the difference of five years would've affected much. I think I was a much more mature actor at 27.” Now, this is the perfect way to handle quite a controversial question and what can I say, he's really smart. Talking about how he started in the showbiz, he said, “I started pretty young, I did my first reality show when I was 17. Then came Roadies in 2004 when I was 19. I was just picking these reality shows but I never saw this as a struggle. I was a radio jockey after graduation. I was 22, the youngest RJ in Delhi at that time. It was all fun. I needed all these experiences to happen to become an actor. Nobody has gone through this transition and it's just surreal.” Now, that's a positive way of looking at the 'struggle', and here I thought I couldn't like this guy more! We know for sure he's going to be around for a long time and we can't wait to see what movie he'll do next where he will play a middle-class Delhi guy!
  20. The world of cricket is not new to superstars. The sport, in its rich legacy, has seen a lot of cricketers ruling the gentleman's game across different eras. The legend of Sir Donald Bradman still sounds afresh every time someone mentions his name. The great Sachin Tendulkar, despite his retirement, continues to rule the hearts of cricket fans across the globe. Similarly, in the modern-era of the game, no other cricketer has managed to capture our imagination the way Virat Kohli has with his exploits on the field. Proving to be a cut above the rest, the Indian captain continues to prove to be a nightmare for the opposition bowlers. His artistry with the willow has earned him plaudits across the globe, while his leadership skills has aided Team India in crunch situations. Kohli has garnered respect from the opposition players and is cherished by fans for his might. Such has been his popularity that he has also become a prized-possession of the broadcasters and popular brands. Thus, when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced that Kohli will be rested for the 2018 Asia Cup, the official broadcaster of the tournament - Star - was left ruing the absence of the Indian captain. MSK Prasad, the chief of selectors, had announced that Kohli had been playing continuously for quite some time and the Indian cricket board decided to hand him the period of rest. But, Star is clearly not impressed. © Reuters In an email to Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Game Development Manager Thusith Perera, host broadcaster Star expressed their displeasure, stating how Kohli's absence will impact the financial aspect of the coverage. "In our view, the announcement of the absence of one of world's best batsmen from the Asia Cup, only 15 days before the commencement of the Asia Cup, is a severe dent to us (event broadcaster) and will severely impact our ability to monetise and generate revenue for the tournament," the email stated. In response, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri claimed, "Kindly note that the team selected by BCCI selection Committee (an expert body comprising of former cricketers) to participate in the Asia Cup as announced on 1st September 2018 is the best available team." “Please also take note that selection of the best available team for participation in a tournament is the sole prerogative of the selection committee of BCCI. It is not open for Asian Cricket Council or its broadcaster to insist on the selection of any particular player and/or to question the expert opinion of the Selection Committee as to which is the best available team for a particular tournament,” Johri's mail claimed. © Reuters Now, it's needless to say that Kohli's absence at the ongoing Asia Cup will understandably have some financial impact for the host broadcasters. But, as the BCCI's response reveals, the right to select the team is solemnly reserved for the Indian board and its selectors. A broadcaster can complain and whine about it, but they cannot force a cricket board to select a team or player to their whims and fancies. “The matter was discussed with the BCCI. We have been informed by BCCI that best available team is participating in Asia Cup 2018. Therefore, we would like to reiterate that ACC is fully compliant with its MRLA obligations,” the ACC game development manager wrote in a letter to Star. More importantly, Kohli has been a workhorse for his side, playing continuously series after series, tours after tours. He was part of India's rigorous tour of England that included three ODIs and T20Is alongside five Tests. Being the most important and crucial batsman for his side, Kohli's workload needs to be handled properly by the BCCI which probably explains their decision to hand him some much-needed rest for the Asia Cup. © Reuters The Indian team cannot afford Kohli to exhaust his energy and vigour in a tournament like Asia Cup where Pakistan seems to be the only competition for them. In the bigger scheme of things, the Indian board would want the skipper to be ready and fresh for the much-anticipated tour of Australia that poses a bigger challenge Down Under. Slated to begin from 21st November, India's tour of Australia will be comprised of three ODIs, four Tests and three T20Is - spanning over two months. Following their exploits in Australia, the Indian team will then travel to New Zealand for five ODIs and three T20Is beginning from 23rd January, 2019. Once that comes to an end, the sub-continent giants will host the Australian side for five ODIs and two T20Is in a two-month long tour which is scheduled from 24th February till 13th March. The months of March and April next year will then see the likes of Kohli and his teammates plying their trade in the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). And, once that comes to an end, the world of cricket will brace for the coveted 2019 ICC World Cup slated from 30th May till 14th July. Given the tournaments and tours scheduled for Men in Blue, the BCCI's decision to rest Kohli might not have fared well for the broadcasters, but it undeniably an important and well-thought call for Team India which heavily relies on its skipper to get past their opponents across the three formats in cricket.
  21. Social media is known to have given many a people sleepless nights by turning them into objects of ridicule and laughter, and this time, it seems to have come calling for our very own Anushka Sharma. After the memes featuring an image from her upcoming release 'Sui Dhaaga' seemed to have cooled down just a bit, fresh controversy seems to have caught on to her. Recently, YouTube sensation Marques Brownlee, who happens to be a very popular tech blogger, noticed that Anushka apparently used an iPhone to promote Google's Pixel 2XL on Twitter and he could not hold himself back from sharing the anomaly with his followers, claiming that the situation was “hilarious”. 22. India has been super proud of star wrestler Vinesh Phogat's performance at this year's Asian Games and her claim to gold has only added to the charm. However, there was another winning memory awaiting her back home and this was to be her engagement to long time beau Somveer Rathi. © Instagram However, what has struck the audience in attendance as pretty intriguing is their engagement venue. Engaged 'Where' You Least Expected It Upon her arrival, the paparazzi went into a frenzy when they spotted Vinesh and Somveer exchanging rings right outside the arrival gates of IGI airport! The happy couple went on to cut a big cake amidst all the media hullabaloo and happily posed for pictures that she later uploaded on her personal Instagram account. However, rumour mills have been churning that the sudden engagement has come in the light of the controversy the star girl found herself in. She was recently romantically linked to star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra which upset the Golden girl and she took to Twitter to slam the link-up and express her annoyance over the matter. 23. It was way back in the mid-90s when Indians got their first taste of reality TV and oh, what a memorable stint that was to behold for the audience! We're talking about 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa' that was first aired in 1995 with Sonu Nigam as the host. People will tell you that this show was perhaps one of the most authentic shows that have made it to the idiot box, and served the purpose of both scouting young talents and entertaining the viewers all at the same time! However, in the last decade, the reality tv space has undergone gradual makeovers, rendering the shows more commercially viable by introducing not-so necessary elements to the shows, while the actual aim of airing these shows becomes secondary. via GIPHY But if you thought that's about it, you're wrong. There is a lot more that goes into the making of those teasers you watch on TV for these shows. An entirely varying algorithm works behind the scenes and only a handful come forward to share their first-hand experiences with an otherwise ignorant world. One such former participant, Nishant Kaushik, recently took to Twitter to share his experience on Indian Idol's 2012 auditions, which has presented the rather ugly side of Indian reality tv space. So Much Extra Right from having multiple hosts who tend to go overboard with the jokes and antics, to the judges that don't fit the bill as per the show's theme, as well as all the BTS drama that seems more than scripted in the first place, there's quite a bit we can do away with in these shows today. via GIPHY Kaushik's tweets go on to reveal just how much of it is messed up and all this inside scoop has left us feeling more than a little bamboozled. There's A LOT More Besides All That It started when Nishant decided to share his experience on the show in the form of a thread of tweets, and what followed wasn't something we were expecting to discover. Here's Nishant's first tweet: Brief, nonchalant thread about my auditioning experience at Indian Idol 2012 and why I think it is a perfect platform to destroy your dreams as opposed to its common perception as a breeding ground for talent. — Nishant Kaushik (@nofreecopies) August 20, 2018 And so it began: I joined the queue at 7 AM. There were people who had arrived at 5 AM. Others who had camped overnight. False notion that early arrival = early audition. No one from the crew to dispel such notions. Gate opens 1 PM. — Nishant Kaushik (@nofreecopies) August 20, 2018 Imagine starting your day that early just for a chance to showcase your talent. That is what we'd call a lot of dedication right there. However, even when the gates opened and the participants thought their perils would come to an end, Nishant tells us that what they were met with instead, was mockery. Here: At 1 PM we were herded toward a stage on the school ground where the previous year's winner Shriram was lip syncing to Desi Boyz. A volunteer amongst us was sought to go and grab Shriram's feet mid-performance and shout "I wanna be Indian Idol!" Reward promised : early audition. — Nishant Kaushik (@nofreecopies) August 20, 2018 With promises of "early auditions", one aspirant gave in to the temptation and thus began the retakes of staged gimmicks that continued late until 5 pm in the evening with no provisions for the gathered people except for a canister of water and one accessible toilet. During all this I met two interesting aspirants: one med rep from an Indian village I don't remember the name of, who dragged his right foot in a broken slipper. And another, who was blind in both eyes. And then I saw the crew make a merciless meal of both of these kind souls. — Nishant Kaushik (@nofreecopies) August 20, 2018 Nishant shared that when these two individuals were spotted by the crew they came with their cameras and mics to record their testimonies of struggle, which would serve as "meaty content" for the show's TRP. The crew even pestered a visually impaired man to come up with a sappy response to "what brings you here" and after he failed to do so, the crew crafted a reply for the guy themselves. At this point one of the aspirants lost his shit and stood up, demanding to see where the auditions were happening, to see the judges. One of the crew members charged up to him and slapped him. In front of thousands of people. SLAPPED.A.CONTESTANT. Yes this happened. — Nishant Kaushik (@nofreecopies) August 20, 2018 Finally, around 8 pm things started to move forward but there was still no sign of the auditions commencing anytime soon and when questioned, as you can see, participants were manhandled. Eventually, the crew started to hold voice screening process at random and chose the ones who sang horribly to go into a filming room where further mockery awaited them. That mockery went on. The judges relished that fellow's naivety, asking him to keep taking a pitch "higher and louder" till his voice turned into frail shrieks that sent them into peals of laughter. He came out in tears. Elsewhere in the corridor we heard of contestants fainting. — Nishant Kaushik (@nofreecopies) August 20, 2018 Nishant finally had the "luck" to clear three rounds before he got eliminated and he admits to having no qualms about it. Instead, he states that it made him happy to be finally going home. My summarized observation of Indian Idol was that it decorates and recognizes maybe 10 or less, very worthy participants annually. But en route it quashes a million people's hearts by disrespecting them, ridiculing and abusing them, denying them a conducive atmosphere to contest. — Nishant Kaushik (@nofreecopies) August 20, 2018 The disillusionment was perhaps his prize and we're glad he chose to share these insights and inputs with us, because who knew that these shows, that have given the country some of its best talents and a platform to showcase that talent, could have so many hidden layers to them. True talent is rare. But every aspiring artist's pride stems from the encouragement it gets from its colleagues and friends and mohallawallahs and family. In those little nooks and crannies, each of them is a "star". Reality shows have no right to disrespect that. — Nishant Kaushik (@nofreecopies) August 20, 2018 Right from labourers to participants, no one is spared by the crew and what most of them get after a long and tiring day of 'auditions' is to go back home feeling ridiculed and mocked for their shortcomings. While on their path to find the true talent, these shows often end up quashing dreams and destroying people's confidence for life, besides scarring their memories forever. We sincerely hope things change for the better, but that's something only time and perhaps another Nishant from the future can tell.
  24. The sequel to Bollywood thriller 'Aankhen 2' is happening and the cast sounds mighty impressive. The previous instalment. that was quite critically acclaimed, was directed by Vipul Amrutlal and featured Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Arjun Rampal, Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen. In 2002, when Bollywood was making cliche films, this movie grabbed eyeballs with its refreshing concept, gripping script and edge-of-the-seat plot. It's been 16 years and finally, we have a confirmation that the sequel is taking place with none other than Big B taking the lead. Set to be directed by Anees Bazmee, the movie has already created quite a buzz. A source told Mumbai Mirror, "Amitji liked the script and has given his nod to the project. Anees Bazmee has begun prep and will start shooting in 2019. The team is targeting an early 2020 release." The makers of the upcoming action thriller confirmed the news on its official Twitter handle. But what makes it interesting is the fact that we might see AB alongside superstar Jackie Chan, as the script revolves around a casino in China. There is a huge possibility that we might see the two biggest stars of all time sharing the screen together. 'Aankhen' had an interesting story in which Big B played the lead who manipulates three blind men (Akshay, Paresh, Arjun) into preparing for a major bank robbery. Sushmita Sen, who is being blackmailed by Big B, has no choice but to train them. It will be quite is interesting to see if the second instalment does justice to the original one.
  25. Life often gets caught up in the twisted ways of fate and often ends up as a morning read on tabloids and if nothing else, eventually turns into biographies or if you're lucky, maybe even into a biopic. Bollywood is filled with tales of people who shot to fame and have attained heights of stardom, however, on the flip side, there are the stories of those who are on the path to their redemption. © Instagram Tracing their journey from the heights of stardom to the forgotten chambers of their after years, the audience often looks past the many layers that go into the making of a star and for that matter, even into the unravelling of the picture perfect plot of their lives. The Atypical Star Kid Bollywood is filled with young actors walking in and out, unable to return from their bout with failure, however, here we have a man, who is on his path to redemption and his tale holds promise. Such has been the journey of Prateik Babbar who was born to star parents Smita Patil and Raj Babbar in 1986 and well, if we may say so, the guy didn't have the most perfect start to his life. © Instagram Prateik lost his mother soon after his birth and was brought up by his maternal grandparents, Shivajirao Patil and Vidyatai Patil, along with his aunt Manya Patil. Raj Babbar, who went back to living with his first wife and kids, took a backseat as a father-figure throughout Prateik's childhood. © Instagram It's common knowledge that Prateik always shared a rocky relationship with his father and he even dropped his surname, making it pretty clear. It was during this time, that he also began his unfortunate tryst with substance abuse. However, after his grandparents passed away, he came to the realisation that he needed to get his affairs in order and began doing that by reconciling with his father. The Rising Star © Instagram Prateik made his Bollywood debut in a supporting role in 2008's romcom 'Jaane Tu, Ya Jaane Na', much against his father's wishes, who wanted him to wait until he turned 25 to start acting. His performance was well-received and he ended up winning awards by both Filmfare and Stardust for his performance and he soon became the 'guy to watch out for' who was a natural in front of the camera. He gave some more memorable performances in a number of commercial and critically acclaimed movies such as 'Dhobi Ghat', 'Aarakshan', 'My Friend Pinto', 'Dum Maro Dum' and the likes. Love-Hate Tryst With Narcotics © Instagram After a short run in the industry, his subsequent films began to bomb at the box office which pushed him to find solace in his old ways of depending heavily on drugs and alcohol. Prateik's first brush with marijuana happened at the age of 14 which gradually escalated to mood-changers over the years, while ganja became a constant. © Instagram Having had an on-and-off affair with drugs and alcohol for most of his life, 2013 found Prateik amidst a fresh battle with substance abuse which meant a detour to the rehab and rounds of counselling. He has since been sober and eventually made a comeback in 2015 with a comedy-drama 'Umrika' which was followed by a Bengali film 'Auroni Taukhon' in 2017. Prateik has been very vocal about his struggle with drugs and believes that admitting about it helps in moving forward and even aids the process of de-addiction. He recently starred in a video titled #DilSeAzaad and used it to voice his stance on how the society needs to stop boycotting those who are struggling with addiction. The video's goal was also to help debunk stereotypes by recognising them with their challenges, and help the affected people in healing and finding their way back to the mainstream society. Take Two: Rising From The Ashes Cut to 2018 and the man has already starred in two successful movies, 'Baaghi 2', in which he played the antagonist to Tiger Shroff's character and in 'Mulk', where he portrayed the role of a terrorist. Both the movies have added significantly to his career graph and have displayed the skills and versatility he possesses as an actor. © Instagram Not only that, just yesterday the entire film and fashion industry was taken aback by his charms at Chola The Label's 'Bye Felicia' show at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. Decked up in a drag queen avatar, presenting the yin and yang inherent in every individual, he also walked the ramp to highlight gender fluidity and acceptance. © Instagram Sporting an edgy outfit, complete with flashy makeup and glitzy accessories, he added a LOT of drama to the show! The world saw another side of him which was quite a sight. Counting His Blessings We believe the actor has come a long way, both personally and professionally, and we cannot just overlook his efforts to put the troublesome phase of his life behind him.
