  1. How funny is it to see a goofy Ranveer Singh bickering with Alia Bhatt over hotel and flight booking discounts and how sweet was it to see Deepika and her mom talk about learning from failures and moving forward as they spoke about what “ander se strong” meant for them in a certain toothpaste advertisement? The Indian advertising industry has found its winning formula in India's obsession with celebrities and anything (and everything) they say or do. From making top Bollywood A-listers endorse everything from toilet cleaners, to undergarments and anti-dandruff shampoos, we have seen it all. © Twitter However, given how much Indians worship celebs and eat out of their hands as they try to sell them some commodity or service, it's no wonder that the industry is booming and sort of becoming a source of major side income for these stars. 2018 was especially a landmark year when it came as close to spending 1000 crores on celebrities for brand promotions. It was Bollywood's 'Khiladi' Akshay Kumar who toppled every other star, including the Khans who have dominated the industry for the longest time, by bagging 100 crores through brand endorsements last year. © Twitter While the shift has already begun and brands are more actively seeking out Bollywood's young brigade for the youth connect, some old-timers have managed to hold the top spot after Akshay. 1. Ranveer Singh © Twitter Claiming the second spot right after Akshay is Ranveer Singh who made Rs 84 crore through advertisements last year. 2. Deepika Padukone © Twitter In the third position is Bollywood's leading lady and Ranveer's SO Deepika, who bagged Rs 75 crores through endorsements alone in 2018. 3. Amitabh Bachchan © Twitter Next up, Bollywood evergreen 'Don' Amitabh Bachchan who added Rs 72 crore to his bank balance through ads. 4. Alia Bhatt © Twitter Claiming the fifth spot in the top five is Alia Bhatt, who took home Rs 68 crore through her many advertisement projects.
  2. Indian ARMY found another reason to rejoice after Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh took to Twitter to show his appreciation for K-Pop sensation BTS, and their insane fandom. @BTS_twt @bts_bighit They r Lit ð¥ Insane Fan Following.. RESPECT â Respect entire Team #BTS — DILJIT DOSANJH (@diljitdosanjh) May 24, 2019 Goes without saying that the BTS fanbase in India lost it and fans couldn't stop thanking him for showing his love and respect for the biggest boy band on the planet. They have an insane fan following cause they are amazing and hard working artists. Their msg touches our heart. Thank you for your kind words Sir! — BANGTAN INDIA ð®ð³ (@BangtanINDIA) May 24, 2019 Thank you for appreciating them. ð BTS being amazing artists and their music which heals has got them the insane fan following. ð Their latest song : Boy With Luvhttps://t.co/00OqqTgHxb — BTS Projects India ð®ï¿½ï¿½ (@BTSprojectINDIA) May 24, 2019 I guess the reason why they have such passionate fans is because they are themselves passionate about their art and the messages they try to communicate through their music. Thank you for the appreciation post Sir! ðð — Nayoð (@nayoxx) May 24, 2019 Earlier, Indian rapper Badshah had also praised BTS' new single 'Boy With Luv', saying he was hooked to the groovy track. Im hooked to @BTS_twt boy with luv. @halsey killed it too. What melody, what visuals!!!! Ooa ooa ooa ooa! — BADSHAH (@Its_Badshah) April 14, 2019 To anyone who knows anything about K-Pop, the unbelievable popularity of BTS is not a new development, instead, it does not come as a surprise anymore when celebrities take to social media to show how in awe they are of the seven-member band from South Korea. © Reuters The band recently scripted history by becoming the first K-Pop group ever to win the Top Group Award at the Billboard Music Awards. BTS, who were nominated for the first time ever in this category, won the award by beating out Dan + Shay, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5 and Panic! At The Disco. Recently, the iconic Empire State Building in New York City turned purple in honour of BTS, who just finished their US tour. they lit up the empire state building purple JUST for BTS???? no one's doing it like them pic.twitter.com/a8ZcpzvIMh — ‎izzy (@jjkmoonchiId) May 21, 2019 BTS is on a world tour right now, and have hundreds of concerts lined up around the globe.
  3. Diljit Dosanjh is the golden boy right now enjoying the love and fame for literally everything he does. From songs to movies to world tours, he's acing it all and giving us more reasons to love him. The self-proclaimed Kylie Jenner fanboy is coming back with a Punjabi movie titled 'Shadaa' which is a laugh riot. The trailer gives you some vibes of 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety' but nevertheless, it's completely entertaining. The story follows an eternal bachelor which translates to 'Shadaa' in Punjabi played by Diljit, who dreams of getting married but later realises that bachelorhood is better. For a brief moment, he falls in love with Neeru Bajwa but later realises that his happiness lies in staying single. © brat films Eventually, after succumbing to the pressure of getting married, this 'Shadaa' decides to get married to a doll named Kylie and asks his parents to give their blessings. © brat films In case you are not well versed with the Punjabi language, the subtitles should help, but this movie surely proves that this dude here can sing, dress sharp, act in movies with a star cast like 'Udta Punjab' and then also blow us away with his great comic timing, all in one go!
  4. Now that 'Avengers: Endgame' has made it to the list of top ten highest-grossing films of all time, it's safe to say that the movie has already made a dent in the box office. But if that wasn't a big deal for you, then here are some mind-boggling figures that tell us how much “The Avengers” earned from the flick. The folks over at the THR managed to get a hold of some classified info and they've revealed how much the Avengers stars have earned from the movie. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Avengers: Endgame (@avengers) on Mar 26, 2019 at 10:12am PDT Robert Downey Jr., who played the role of Iron Man for over 10 years to become the face of the franchise, is said to have walked away with the fattest paycheck of about $75 million for Infinity War, which roughly translates to over Rs 524 crores. Yes, Downey has apparently signed a unique financial negotiation with Marvel to 'receive backend profit on the series'. If that wasn't enough, Downey is said to have earned as much as $5 million per day for a three-day work schedule on 'Spider-Man: Homecoming'. Meanwhile, Chris Hemsworth, who signed a five-year deal with Marvel Studios in 2010 for the role of Thor is said to draw a salary of $15 million to $20 million (Rs 140 Crore). Captain America, played by Chris Evans, apparently renegotiated his deal with the studio before Endgame, and his pay scale is also said to stand between $15 million to $20 million. © Marvel Scarlett Johansson is also said to be drawing figures in the $20 million range for her role of Black Widow in the MCU. She'll soon be starring and producing a standalone Black Widow movie. As for the other MCU stars, the bonuses and earnings are structured around the franchise's box office run. While we don't have the complete picture in front of us, these figures give us an idea of how much each of these stars are drawing from the franchise's popularity. Things are only going to get interesting in the MCU, as a lot of these characters will return for shows that have been planned for Disney+.
  5. One of the most celebrated cricket leagues around the world, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has covered almost half of its journey so far. With all teams fighting hard for a spot in the top four, the real game is yet to unfold. Currently, all the teams are playing with their full bench strength, but what if we remove most of the foreign players from the equation? Yes, as the ICC World Cup 2019 approaches, most of the big names such as David Warner, Chris Gayle, Johnny Bairstow will leave to play for their country. More or less, all the big teams except India and Australia are playing one or more bilateral ODI series before the World Cup. The main reason behind this is to bring the teams back into the groove ahead of the main tournament. While West Indies will be playing Ireland and Bangladesh from 5th May, England, on the other hand, will be hosting Pakistan from 5th May itself. All this comes down to many players including Jos Buttler and Jofra Archer who are currently playing in the IPL, leaving right away in the second half of the tournament. Here is how the teams could potentially stack up following the departure of their foreign players- 1. Kolkata Knight Riders View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kolkata Knight Riders (@kkriders) on Apr 19, 2019 at 9:32pm PDT Kolkata Knight Riders will be one of the most worst-affected teams in the final stages of the tournaments. They will have to depend solely on their local strength as players like Sunil Narine, Carlos Braithwaite, Joe Denly, Lockie Ferguson and many more will be leaving for national duty. The only ones that haven't been selected in the World Cup squad or the teams for upcoming tournaments will play in the IPL. Chris Lynn, Harry Gurney and Matt Kelly will be amongst the foreign players left with KKR. 2. Sunrisers Hyderabad View this post on Instagram A post shared by SunRisers Hyderabad (@sunrisershyd) on Apr 23, 2019 at 1:01am PDT Another team which will be bear the brunt of the World Cup preparation will be the SunRisers Hyderabad as their entire top order will collapse with the departure of Warner, Bairstow, Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson. Not only this, even their spin department will take a major blow when their Afghani duo of Mohammed Nabi and Rashid Khan along with Shakib-Al-Hasan will leave in the middle of the tournament. 3. Delhi Capitals View this post on Instagram A post shared by Delhi Capitals (@delhicapitals) on Apr 17, 2019 at 10:04pm PDT The table toppers at the moment, Delhi Capitals, could have been one of the least affected teams after the departure of its foreign players but unfortunately, their key bowler, Kagiso Rabada will also join the list. Playing for South Africa, Rabada will leave as soon as the national camp begins. Along with him, Colin Munro and Trent Boult will also be expected to leave in the middle of the season itself for the same reason. 4. Chennai Super Kings View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chennai Super Kings (@chennaiipl) on Apr 20, 2019 at 7:07am PDT The defending champions might not face that big a problem because most of the foreign players they own are not included in their national squad except for the South African duo of Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir along with Mitchell Santer and David Willey. Tahir would be their only worry as he is their leading wicket-taker and both main spinners leaving at the same time might cause some problems, but even for that, they do have Harbhajan Singh and Ravinder Jadeja as backups. 5. Rajasthan Royals View this post on Instagram A post shared by Rajasthan Royals (@rajasthanroyals) on Apr 23, 2019 at 4:30am PDT Rajasthan Royals should be expecting a lot of trouble comings its way, as a majority of foreign players are performing in their team and soon, even they would leave. While the new skipper, Steve Smith will leave for Australia, Jofra Archer, Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler will depart to play against Pakistan at the beginning of May. In the end, they would be only left with Liam Livingstone, who has just played one game till now and Ashton Turner, who is currently going through a nightmare of a season. 6. Mumbai Indians View this post on Instagram A post shared by Mumbai Indians (@mumbaiindians) on Apr 20, 2019 at 7:16am PDT The three-time champions, Mumbai Indians will have to face the drums as most of their star-performing players would leave the MI camp as the World Cup comes closer. The first name will be Quinton de Kock, followed by Alzarri Joseph, Lasith Malinga, Adam Milne, Jason Behrendorff and Mitchell McClenaghan. The one player that is doubtful is Kieron Pollard who also might leave if selected in the West Indies World Cup Squad. It will be a real test for Rohit Sharma and his men to perform in the conditions in which they have never played before. 7. Royal Challengers Bangalore View this post on Instagram A post shared by Royal Challengers Bangalore (@royalchallengersbangalore) on Apr 19, 2019 at 9:00pm PDT The Virat Kohli-led RCB currently has a lot on stake, and with the WC approaching, things might get out of hand for them, as a few of their key players might leave early for national duty. The earliest one to leave will be Moeen Ali as England is playing Pakistan before the main tournament. The next in line would be Marcus Stoinis, Shimron Hetmyer, Dale Steyn, Colin de Grandhome and Tim Southee. Already being on the 8th spot, it will become even more difficult for Kohli and AB de Villiers to help their team do any good. 8. Kings XI Punjab View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kings XI Punjab (@kxipofficial) on Apr 22, 2019 at 3:12am PDT The lions of Punjab are among the lucky few teams that might not be adversely affected by this exit as most of their home players are doing well. The only sad news for Punjab fans would be the desertion of Chris Gayle and David Miller for their respective nationals teams. Apart from that, KXIP contains an awesome pool of young local talent including Mayank Agarwal and Sarfaraz Khan who will surely help the team in making it to the playoffs.
  6. We've seen some great players over the years. Here are some of their biggest feats.
  7. These guys were relatively unknown till last season. This season though, they're putting in great performances and making themselves hard to ignore.
  8. The world of cricket isn't new to rivalries between the teams. Similarly, the Indian Premier League (IPL), too, has witnessed its franchises developing the rivalries over the years. But, no rivalry has managed to capture the imagination of fans than the one shared by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI). Both the IPL giants have won the title three times - a feat no other franchise has managed to achieve yet. And, if that's not enough, the fact that their clash pits some of the biggest names in international cricket against each other, further makes theirs a scintillating affair. Thus, when the first stage of the IPL fixtures were announced, everyone was circling the date i.e. 3rd April - the day two giants lock horns - on their calendar this season. While Chennai looks solid in their title defence so far (winning three consecutive games to occupy the top spot in the table), Mumbai have failed to match their rivals, winning just one and losing two games. Hosting Chennai today at the Wankhede stadium, Rohit Sharma's men will be eager to climb up the table (slightly higher than the seventh spot). © Twitter/@IPL On the other hand, three players from the Chennai brigade will be chasing their respective individual records as they aim to pin Mumbai in their own den. The likes of MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Dwayne Bravo will all be chasing individual feats when they take the field at the Wankhede stadium today. Talking about our 'Captain Cool' first, Dhoni is just two runs away from becoming only the second Chennai batsman (after Raina) to reach the 4000-run landmark. He has amassed 3,998 runs in India's cash-rich T20 tournament and could very well join his teammate in the elite list when he comes out to bat against Mumbai today. For Dhoni's good friend and teammate, Raina, clash against Mumbai presents an opportunity to the left-hander to complete 100 catches in the IPL. So far, Raina, who recently pipped Virat Kohli to reach 5,000 runs in the IPL, has taken 99 catches in the tournament and given his athleticism in the field, he is likely to achieve the milestone today. © Twitter/@IPL Last, but not the least, Bravo has been a key contributor to the Chennai brigade over the years. Thus, it is quite fitting for the Trinidadian cricketer gain the legendary status that will be fray against Mumbai today. Bravo is just one wicket away from becoming the first bowler to claim 100 scalps for Chennai in the IPL. For someone who has taken six wickets in three games this season, Bravo enjoys an excellent record against Mumbai. With 25 wickets to his name, Bravo currently holds the record for most wickets taken by a bowler against Mumbai. Going into what promises to be a pulsating encounter today, Chennai will need these three key players to step up if they intend to outperform Mumbai in their own den.
  9. Ahead of the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League, Netflix India has come up with an original docu-series, 'Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians', that covers the journey of a young but very capable owner in Akash Ambani and an extremely energetic core basis which the MI Paltan is formed. Sleepless nights? Nervous nail biting? Screaming at your screen? If you've experienced any or all of these symptoms you might have Cricket Fever, premieres 1st March. pic.twitter.com/Ujl1tq6Els — Netflix India (@NetflixIndia) February 5, 2019 What begins much like any other cricket-specific documentary with fans highlighting how important and gravitationally pulling the sport is in India, 'Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians' soon deep-dives into the lives of those individuals that made the franchise come together. The unique and professional relationship being shared by Akash Ambani with mother, Nita Ambani as co-owners of the team as shown throughout the series is refreshing. Taking away a major portion of the responsibilities off his mother's shoulders, Akash has stepped up as an owner who not only cares about picking up the good players during the auction by also tries his best to become one of them during locker room talks, training sessions and meals as they take on the journey that the 2018 IPL really was. From a trip down the memory lane with Hardik and Krunal Pandya to the heartwarming story of Jasprit Bumrah and his proud mother, the series helps the Indian audience get to know their favourite cricketers a little more intimately, a little more personally. Getting to see Rohit Sharma successfully operate as the leader of the team that features athletes coming from different parts of the world, who approach the game a lot differently than his national teammates, says a thousand words about his brilliance not only as a batsman but also a captain and why he is given the role of the leader of the Men in Blue in the absence of Virat Kohli. What is unique about the series is how it did not just casually cruise over the defeats MI went through last year. The process of a team facing disappointment, expressing their emotions fresh after a loss in an open-floor discussion hosted by coach Mahela Jayawardene, motivating each other and getting ready to fight another day, has been beautifully captured by Condé Nast Entertainment (CNE), the studio that produced the series. In essence, even though Mumbai Indians was unable to win the title last year, the base of an organisation as grand as this is built on a lot of experiences and stories that are worth telling and that's exactly what 'Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians' has conveyed in this 8-episode docu-series.
  10. While we are still revelling in our win against Australia in the ODI matches, the Indian Cricket team is all ready to welcome Australia for a quick limited overs tour before the Indian Premier League kicks off next month. India will take on Australia in another T20I on February 27 followed by a five-match ODI series which will go on till March 13. And after their stupendous win earlier, we cannot wait to see these stars of the Indian Cricket team perform in tomorrow's match. 1. KL Rahul ICC Cricket A dynamic batsman, who has not been able to perform with the bat in the past few series, would be looking to re-establish his form in the shorter format of the game. With a strike rate nearing 150 in the year 2018, he'd definitely try to cement his position in the World Cup squad. 2. Rishab Pant ICC Cricket One of the emerging players in the T20 format, Pant will provide a lot of stability and firepower to the Indian team for the upcoming series. With his recent breathtaking performances in Australia with 350 runs at an average of 58.33 and a few cameos in New Zealand, he has been able to gain the trust of the selectors and is in strong contention as a second wicketkeeper for the World Cup. 3. Chickstar Taco Bell And since this weekend is all sorted for in terms of entertainment with these stars in count, why not talk about another star we cannot wait to try! Heard about Taco Bell's Chickstar wrap (for Rs 169) yet? The wrap is star-shaped and is generously filled with crispy chicken, creamy habanero, veggies, and nacho cheese sauce. Don't fret, vegetarians. For you, they have the Vegstar wrap for Rs 149 which is equally mouthwatering and scrumptious! The best part though? These wrap come with free unlimited Pepsi. So it seems like you have managed to sort out food and beverages like a total pro, and you are still left with extra funds! 4. Vijay Shankar ICC Cricket An all-rounder with a solid technique and calm temperament, Vijay Shankar is definitely going to provide stability to India's middle order. In New Zealand, during the fourth ODI, he showed his quality with the bat pulling Team India out of trouble. With his sharp batting skills and seam bowling ability, he could prove to be a trump card for Team India. 5. Mayank Markande ICC Cricket An exciting young leg-spinner who grabbed 15 wickets during last year's IPL for Mumbai Indians would be looking to leave selectors in a dilemma as he gets a chance to showcase his talent at the International level. After his impressive performance against England Lions and having best bowling figures of 4/23 in T20Is, he's the youngster to watch out for. 6. Ravindra Jadeja ICC Cricket Left-arm spin bowling all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja would be looking to make the most of this call-up due to the absence of Hardik Pandya. Since the Asia Cup last year, Jadeja has clinched 16 wickets from 11 matches. With his ability to restrict the opposition in the middle overs and playing fast cameos with the bat he is another crucial all-rounder to watch out for. I don't know about you, but I am eagerly waiting to watch the match tomorrow. One, because let's beat Australia again. And two, let's have a Chikstar while we are at it. Peace out!
  11. On 14th February 2019, a dastardly terror attack robbed India of more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel. Since then, the country and its citizens waited anxiously for the government to take adequate steps in a bid to avenge the lost souls. And, on 26th February, India struck a major blow to the notorious Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) which was responsible for the ghastly suicide strike in Pulwama. In the wee hours of Tuesday, the Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed 12 of its Mirage 2000 fighter jets that crossed the border and carried out swift airstrikes to eliminate multiple terror camps and launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan. The Indian jets dropped bombs weighing 1,000 kgs (in total) in a 21-minute operation that resulted in the elimination of Jaish's biggest terror camp in Balakot. According to a statement issued by Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale, India targeted the terror camps and avoided the areas that were occupied by civilians. As per "credible intelligence" JeM was attempting another suicide terror attack in various part of the country and the fidayeen jihadis were being trained for this purpose which made India's pre-emptive strike absolutely necessary. #India struck biggest training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammad in Balakot; a very large number of terrorists, trainers, senior commanders and fidayeen jihadis were eliminated: Sh Vijay Gokhale, Foreign Secretary pic.twitter.com/D8kk4gWfWI — PIB India (@PIB_India) February 26, 2019 "In an intelligence-led operation in the early hours of today, India struck the biggest training camp of JeM in Balakot. In this operation, a very large number of JeM terrorists, trainers, senior commanders and groups of jihadis who were being trained for fidayeen action were eliminated. This facility at Balakot was headed by Maulana Yousuf Azhar (alias Ustad Ghouri), the brother-in-law of Maulana Masood Azhar, Chief of JeM," the Foreign Secretary revealed. It was the first cross-border airstrike that India has carried out in nearly five decades. The last such action was during the Bangladesh war in 1971. Thus, when the news surfaced on television and social media platforms early on Tuesday, the Indians across the globe hailed the Indian Air Force for their airstrike. The Indian sports fraternity, too, joined the chorus in saluting the brave fighter pilots who successfully carried out the retaliatory attack. 12. Arguably one of the biggest ceremonies that honour the genius of filmmakers and actors, the Academy Awards aka the Oscars have developed a knack for keeping all the film enthusiasts on their toes. Thus, when the 91st Academy Awards came calling on 25th February, the 'Oscar fever' once again took over the world. From fans, celebrities to even sports icons, everyone was seen expressing their views on the recently-concluded awards ceremony in Los Angeles, California. Such has been the buzz around the Oscars that everyone wants to cash in and ride the wave. Something similar surfaced on the social media when England's 'Barmy Army' presented their own version of the Oscars. Ahead of the much-anticipated awards ceremony, the England's fan group shared a collage of pictures on the social media and asked the fans to vote for the 'Best Supporting Actor' category. Taking a dig at Australia's infamous ball-tampering scandal, the tweet carried pictures of Aussie cricket stars - Steve Smith, David Warner, Cameron Bancroft and Darren Lehmann - as nominees for 'Best Supporting Actor' award. It's almost time for the Oscars! Who gets your vote for Best Supporting Actor? #Oscars2019 pic.twitter.com/jSSre5vdoG — England's Barmy Army (@TheBarmyArmy) February 24, 2019 While the tweet was a light-hearted take on one of Australia's darkest hours in cricket, it infuriated the Oz fans who, then, took turns to present their own nominations which included England cricketers. "#Oscars2019 pic.twitter.com/yOuD8qrEYc — Mandvee Mishra (@im_mandvee) February 25, 2019 Taking a dig at the assault case of Ben Stokes, an Australian fan was seen sharing the photos of the England all-rounder and Alex Hales before nominating the duo for 'Best Lead Actor' and 'Best Supporting Actor'. Apart from cricket, the Oscars also seemed to have engulfed football as Atletico Madrid mocked their city rivals Real over a controversial penalty in their 2-1 win over Levante on the same day as the awards ceremony. Casemiro should be given a #Oscars for this dive that won Real Madrid a penalty. pic.twitter.com/ngLWxVRs4D — Hakuna Matata (@Matoke_) February 24, 2019 Although there seemed to be minimal contact between the two players, Casemiro went down on the ground after a clearance by Cheick Doukoure. The referee awarded a penalty to Real before it went to VAR and the decision stood. Thereon, Gareth Bale scored from the spot and sealed the game for Los Blancos. ð½ La noche de los Oscars ha arrancado a lo grande. ¿Una película? #LaHistoriaInterminable. Atléticos, ¿cuál elegís vosotros? ð — Atlético de Madrid (@Atleti) February 24, 2019 Taking a dig at Casemiro's alleged theatrics, Atletico tweeted: “Oscar night has ripped out big. A movie? #TheEndlessStory Athletics, which one do you choose?". Os recomiendo la del “Corazón de la DÉCIMA” y “UNDÉCIMA”. yo las tengo hasta en dvd!! ð — Dani Carvajal Ramos (@DaniCarvajal92) February 24, 2019 However, the tweet didn't really go down well with Real defender Dani Carvajal who replied back: "I recommend the "Heart of the TENTH" and "ELEVENTH". I have them up on DVD!".
  13. Folklore (and Bollywood) has always taught us that the royalty is good-looking. However, as we grew up, we realized that's not essentially true, and the fact that royal blood has nothing to do with good looks. So, whenever we come across someone from the royalty who fulfills that criteria, we can't help but be transported back to our childhood, where life is like a fairy tale. Jaiveerraj Singh Gohil, the Prince of Bhavnagar, sure is one of them, and the fact that a few people know about him, makes his existence even more alluring. 14. Bollywood, as an industry, is dominated by powerful filmi families who have been a part of Bollywood for a long time, including those who have been around since the time of its inception in 1899. So, no matter which side we are on when it comes to nepotism, there is no denying that most star kids do possess the skills and have proved themselves time and again, regardless of the killer start they got to their careers when they started out. However, this got us thinking about these star kids making their on-screen debuts when it comes to sharing the screen-space with either or both of their parents. With the release of 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga' last Friday, we saw Sonam and Anil Kapoor share the screen together, and we must say that despite Sonam's acting skills, it was rather refreshing to watch the father-daughter duo in action on the big screen. The kind of dynamics they share off-screen found its way in front of the camera, and we have to admit we liked what we saw. © Vinod Chopra Films And surely this isn't the first time when Bollywood actors have shared screen space with their parents and rocked the screen together. We bring you 5 other Bollywood A-listers who have acted with their parents, and given us an entertaining joyride: 1. Amitabh Bachchan & Abhishek Bachchan © Mad Entertainment Their journey together as AB Sr. and AB Jr. started with 'Bunty Aur Babli' in 2005, which was followed by 'Sarkar', 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and then 'Paa' in 2009, with a special appearance in 'Shootout At Lokhandwala' as well. 2. Rishi, Neetu & Ranbir Kapoor © Movie Temple Productions When 'Besharam' released in 2013, its USP was that the Kapoors were all going to share the screen together as a family on-screen too. Though the film didn't do that well commercially, it was great to see the family together on-screen. 3. Soni Razdan & Alia Bhatt © Junglee Pictures 'Raazi' saw the mother and daughter come together in front of the camera, and we loved to see them bring their relationship on-screen as much as we love them off it. 4. Pankaj Kapoor & Shahid Kapoor © Junglee Pictures 'Shaandaar' was almost a family reunion on-screen for the Kapoors with Pankaj, Shahid and Sanah Kapoor coming together for this movie. 5. Dharmendra, Sunny & Bobby Deol © Phantom Films This father-and-son Jodi has entertained us one too many times, and we loved watching them make us laugh and cry with their antics in 'Yamla Pagla Deewana', 'Yamla Pagla Deewana: Phir Se' and 'Apne'.
  15. Chelsea forward, Alvaro Morata's move to Atletico Madrid has opened up a can of worms for fans in the Spanish capital. He has come through the ranks from the Real Madrid Youth Academy and a transfer to age-old city rivals is honestly not a heartwarming update for Madridistas. For most of you who must have forgotten, Morata's first team as a professional player was Real Madrid. Yes, he did play in Atletico's youth program but then joined Real's academy in 2008, eventually playing in their first team. The Madrid derby is slated for February 9 and we won't blame the fans if there are loud boos every time Morata touches the ball. So, how does he deal with this situation, you ask. For starters, he can seek some inspiration from these other superstars who joined rival clubs and went on to definitely. 1. Robin Van-Persie (Arsenal to Manchester United) © Reuters RvP became one of the deadliest strikers in the Premier League in his last couple of years at Arsenal. Credit goes to none other than Arsene Wenger, who developed the Dutchman into a leader after Thierry Henry's departure. With time Van Persie matured into a complete striker and was also handed over the captain's armband after the departure of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona. But in 2012, when trophies didn't come by at the Emirates, the Dutchman refused to sign a contract extension. Just then, Manchester United's then manager, Sir Alex Ferguson lured him to sign for Manchester United with the promise of trophies. Van Persie joined Manchester United for £24 million in 2012 after bagging back to back golden boots. He would be influential in guiding the Red Devils to the Premier League title by scoring 26 goals in the process. Though he had infuriated the Arsenal fans, van Persie did not care as he had finally won the league in his first season at his new club and even received a guard of honour from his former colleagues. 2. Luis Figo (Barcelona To Real Madrid) © Reuters After Florentino Perez became the club president of Real Madrid in 2000, he launched the famed Galacticos era at Santiago Bernabeu by signing at least one star player every summer. Luis Figo, who was one of the best players in the world, was signed from sworn enemies Barcelona for a world record transfer fee. Figo had spent five years with the Catalans and was revered by their fans. However, it was an under the table move as it took place without any player at the club really knowing about it. It broke Catalan hearts when the Portuguese decided to join the arch-rivals in such a controversial manner. 3. Carlos Tevez (Manchester United to Manchester City) © Reuters As per reports, Carlos Tevez didn't really want to leave Manchester United. Carlos Tevez was adored by Manchester United fans after proving instrumental in the club's Champions League-winning 2007-08 campaign during a two-year loan spell. But with time, the relationship between Tevez and Alex Ferguson started to crumble when the 34-year-old made some jarring remarks regarding his future in an interview with a UK newspaper. Eventually, Tevez signed for Manchester City and immediately took a dig at Fergie, claiming that the Scot didn't want him at Old Trafford. Responding to which, Ferguson said that Tevez wasn't worth the money City paid for him (around £25.5m, if his advisors are to be believed). But proving Fergie wrong, the Argentine scored 52 goals in his first two seasons at the Etihad. 4. Luis Enrique (Real Madrid To Barcelona) © Reuters Luis Enrique played almost half of his career at Real Madrid. The former Barcelona manager had spent eight years in the whites of Real Madrid. Despite that, Enrique could never become an integral part of the Los Blancos side, scoring only 18 goals in 213 matches for them. When he made his move to Barca in 1996, he did so for a free transfer. The midfielder, who was praised for his versatility, would go on to become a regular for Barcelona and was eventually given the captain's armband. Compared to Real, the Spaniard scored 109 goals in 300 matches and also won two La Liga trophies for their El Classico rivals. 5. Sol Campbell (Tottenham to Arsenal) © Reuters After coming through Tottenham's youth ranks, Sol Campbell made his debut for Spurs at the tender age of 18. He became a mainstay at the Tottenham centre-back position for years to come and captained them to a League Cup victory in 1999. But little did they know that the Tottenham star was about to join their fiercest enemies, Arsenal. Despite saying that he would never play for Arsenal in the past, he went on to join the club and is till date named as 'Judas' by the Spurs fans for betraying their club.
  16. They say a true man is shaped not only by his success, or his wealth but also by the goodness that's in his heart. It's not determined by his possessions but only if he shares them with the world for the betterment of mankind. Hollywood, for one, is blessed with philanthropists who have gone the extra mile to give back to the society to be remembered for their goodness. Here are five Hollywood icons who continue their efforts of making the world a better place, one good thing at a time: George Clooney George Clooney is well known for his engagement to stop the human rights atrocities in the Darfur region of Sudan. Clooney founded the Not On Our Watch with his 'Ocean's 11' co-stars Don Cheadle, Matt Damon, and Brad Pitt, and producer Jerry Weintraub, which works to uplift the suffering populations of Sudan. His charity has donated millions of dollars to help those suffering in the region. Clooney was named the United Nations Messenger of Peace in 2008, to help raise public awareness, and support for the U.N's peacekeeping efforts around the world. Hugh Jackman The Wolverine star started The Laughing Man Foundation, which through its chain of coffee shops, supports coffee farming communities across the world by investing in programs that focus on health, growth, and success for coffee farmers and their families. Started after a promise made by the star to his friend, an Ethiopian coffee farmer, Dukale and his family, the Foundation works for supporting the production of sustainable coffee and communities associated with it. Leonardo DiCaprio Since 1998 The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has been working to protect threatened ecosystems with a focus on Wildlands Conservation, Oceans Conservation and Climate Change. With over 50 million followers, the star's impactful work was recognized when he was designated as the United Nations Messenger of Peace for Climate Change and received the 2014 Clinton Global Citizen Award. Following the notion of great deeds, here's a striking video by Seagram's 100 Pipers Music CDs, that reminds us that the greatest legacy one can leave behind, is an act of goodness – an act that makes the world a better place. Matt Damon Actor-producer-screenwriter, Matt Damon started H2O Africa in an attempt to mitigate the water crisis in Africa and gather support for clean water programs in critical areas. His organization merged later with Water.org that focuses on providing clean water to underprivileged across the world. He is also an ambassador for ONEXONE, a non-profit foundation committed to supporting, preserving and improving the lives of children. Will Smith The MIB star with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, founded the Will and Jada Smith Family Foundation to benefit inner-city community development, youth educational projects and underprivileged children and their families. He has also supported several charitable organizations that work in South Africa. Heartwarming, isn't it?
  17. Tennis, as a sport, has seen many legends ruling the charts over the years. And, in the modern age, the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic have undoubtedly emerged as a cut above the rest. But, as all good things come to an end, the trio of these superstars, too, have faced hardships in recent times. From injury concerns to slump in form, the likes of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic are still the players to beat. But, it's safe to say, they are no longer 'the invincibles' they once were. The ongoing Australian Open has once again sparked the great debate whether ageing Federer can still continue to prove his mettle following his Round of 16 loss to a 20-year-old. It also turned our focus on the next generation superstars who can very well go on to replace the old guard in the sport. Here's a look at four upcoming talents who can enthrall tennis fans as new-age superstars: Stefanos Tsitsipas © AP Back in 2001, when a young Federer defeated Sampras in Wimbledon, it was termed as the change of guard. And now, another change of guard is in the offing as the young Stefanos Tsitsipas stunned Federer in the fourth round of the Australian Open 4th yesterday. The Greek had become the talk of the town after he defeated four players amongst the Top 10 in Rogers Cup last summer. He began his charge by beating No. 8 Dominic Thiem in the second round. Then, it was No. 10 Novak Djokovic, No. 3 Alexander Zverev and sixth seed Kevin Anderson who all ran into a resilient Tsitsipas. His commendable run finally came to an end in the summit clash where he was defeated by king of clay Rafael Nadal. But, despite his defeat, the youngster undoubtedly made a mark with a fine showing. Now, in the Australian Open, the 21-year-old is looking to repeat his heroics as he reached the Quarter-finals. His triumph over the 'Swiss ace' highlighted his capabilities on the court. And, for the sake of tennis, let's hope he continues to perform with same enthusiasm in times ahead and keeps surprising us with his talent. Frances Tiafoe © AP Frances Tiafoe, definitely the most unpredictable entry to the list, sent shockwaves across the tennis fraternity after he got the better of proven stars such as Juan Martin Del Potro and Alexander Zverev in recent past. Recently turned 21, Tiafoe, continued his fine form in the Australian Open as he recorded a stunning win over fifth seed Kevin Anderson in the first round, earning the ticket to the Quarter-finals on his 21st birthday by defeating Grigor Dimitrov in the 4th round. Recent burst of the young American with an arsenal of screaming forehands and blistering serves, surely puts him into consideration for the next big thing in tennis. Denis Shapovalov © AP A possible Next Gen star, Denis Shapovalov has enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2017. From making his mark at the age of 16, by winning biggest prestige in tennis, The Wimbledon (Junior's), to later defeating stars like Rafael Nadal and Del Potro, the 19-year-old lad has achieved a hell lot at his age. His win over Nadal came in Rogers Cup in front of his home crowd, where he became the youngest player to reach a Masters semi-final; later delighting the New York crowd when he reached The US Open fourth round. The tennis pundits even declared him the third favourite to win at the Flushing Meadows after he entered the last 16. Despite having a bad form over the past 6 months, he still has achieved a lot at his age and is expected to be in the big four of the Next Gen. Alexander Zverev © AP Alexander Zverev had a dream end to the year 2018, defeating Novak Djokovic to win his first World Tour Finals. Being World No. 4 at the age of 21 is surely not a fluke, rather it's pure determination and hard work which has brought him to this point this soon. Winning 10 ATP titles and reaching a career-high ranking of World No. 3, he has surely been after the big four ever since he entered the tour. Despite being the newbie, he has been singled out by many players and commentators, as one of the apparent heirs to the Big 4 and a future World No. 1. Although he has proven his mettle a lot of times, the department he still lacks in is performing in Grand Slams. Being the World No. 4, his highest achievement in Grand Slams is being the Quarter-final finish at the Roland Garros in 2018. Even this time in Australian Open, he lost to Milos Raonic in the 4th round itself. Keeping all that aside, Zverev has been a hard-hitting baseline player and is equally good at the net as well. Defeating players like Djokovic and Federer numerous times, one thing can be assured off, that this player is surely the next big thing in tennis world.

  20. Today, we're not going to be talking about the on-court exploits of NBA superstars. Instead, we're going to be talking about men who believed being good was more important than being a superstar. We're not saying a good person can't be a superstar (as is evidenced by a few people on our list). All we're trying to say is these men believed in being good role models first and everything else came after. Michael Jordan It goes without saying that one of the most recognizable names in basketball is also one of the most charitable. Instead of going into all his philanthropic exploits, we're going to talk about just one. A very important one. © Getty Images The Novant Health Michael Jordan Family Clinics. In Jordan's own words, the clinics will, “help provide a brighter and healthier future for the children and families they serve.” LeBron James There are hardly any lists of basketball players which LeBron can't wiggle his way onto. That's the case here as well. For someone who is the face of the NBA for many, LeBron hasn't let his superstar status get in the way of him being a good person. © Getty Images What did he do? He opened a school. A public school that helps at-risk kids. If that's not a sign of philanthropy, what is? Tim Duncan You could call Tim one of the greatest power forwards of all time. Need proof? He was a part of the All-NBA team 13 seasons in a row. Now that's quite the achievement, wouldn't you say? © Getty Images But, Tim didn't let that superstar status get to him. He set up a foundation of his own called the Tim Duncan Foundation. Through his foundation he helps thousands with health awareness and also funds multiple youth sports. Adonal Foyle Okay, Foyle is not one of the biggest names of the NBA. But, his career off the court is a substantial one for sure. © Getty Images His tireless humanitarian work also got him inducted into the World Sport Humanitarian Hall of Fame in 2009. We also must mention Democracy Matters, his group which only has one goal, spreading democracy.
  21. Has the finale of a movie ever made you feel like the creators are stupid for creating sequels? I've not felt this angry in a long time. I mean, the brilliance of the climax of 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' was ruined by the fact that I'd have to wait God knows how long to see more. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this series suffers from the same problem the Hobbit series did. It is not too long. It is not boring in parts. It is not different from anything else that has come out of the magical mind of J.K. Rowling. I'm just pissed off that they didn't go the Netflix way and release all the movies together. Come on Warner Bros., we know you can do it! Stop making us wait! © Warner Brothers Pictures Honestly, I didn't think anything could come close to the way I felt after 'Avengers: Infinity War.' But, 'The Crimes Of Grindelwald' turned me into a 16-year-old boy once again. I was back in the magical world I grew up in. While the first Fantastic Beasts movie served as a sort of welcome back to the Universe, this was the housewarming party. And guess what, everyone's invited! Okay, enough rambling, it's time to delve into the wizarding world and see what our protagonist, Newt Scamander is up to. No no, one more thing. Let me address all the other movie reviewers who have chosen to rip this movie apart for having Grindelwald in the title and not making him a central character. The movie is part of the 'Fantastic Beasts' series and it is the story of one man and one man alone. Not Albus Dumbledore, not Gellert Grindelwald. No, not even Credence Barebone! It is the story of Newt Scamander and don't you forget it. Also, here's the background score to help make this a more entertaining read. Now, let's get into it! Those Damn Muggles Why do muggles have to be so different? I understand that we all have jobs but, do you send an electrician to fix the plumbing? No! Then why would you send a muggle to review a Fantastic Beasts movie? Yes, it's best to detach yourself when writing a review, but sometimes, just sometimes, forming a strong bond with the lore behind the film you're watching, could amplify every single word. © Warner Brothers Pictures Is this the perfect movie for someone who has never seen a single Harry Potter movie? Hell no! I'm pretty sure there are a lot of Potterheads who won't consider this the best in the series either. But, none of them, I repeat, none of them, will call this the worst. And even if anyone does, is being the worst in one of the best series ever made actually bad? As Ralph of Wreck-It fame would say, “I'm bad, and that's good. I will never be good, and that's not bad.” Make sense? Kind of? Yeah, I think so too. National Treasures No, Nicholas Cage isn't going to sneak into this article (or you could say he did). There are very few people who I'd consider calling National Treasures (Jeremy & Chris from CinemaSins know what I'm talking about). Jude Law & Johnny Depp are right up there. Yes, Johnny has made some questionable decisions in his life, but the eccentricity that he brings to the screen is seconded by none (although Aamir did give it his best shot). As for Jude Law, he was the man that took Watson out from behind Sherlock's shadow. Now if that's not an achievement then what is. © Warner Brothers Pictures But, the two men I believe should be turned into national treasures right now are Eddie Redmayne and Ezra Miller. It's not the power-packed scenes that make me believe they are amazing. It's the simple ones. Their mannerisms. It's like they are the characters they portray. Not a single slip. You could literally watch the first and second movie in the Fantastic Beasts series and see no continuity errors in their mannerisms at all. Now, that's what I consider great acting. The Magical World Of Harry Potter Yeah, that's how we were introduced to J.K. Rowling's 'Wizarding World.' But here, we get to see a world that doesn't even know of the existence of Harry Potter. Is it not as magical? Well, it's a lot darker for sure. But, it's certainly just as magical. I hate the fact that we will never be able to go back to the first time we got on the train with Harry. That scene, although so simple, had the deepest impact on me. I'm pretty sure it did on all of us. We all desperately waited for our letter from Hogwarts for months, didn't we? It's because of that scene. Believe it! © Warner Brothers Pictures I love that 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald,' didn't waste any time trying to introduce us to the magical world again. We're just expected to know that magic exists in this universe. It's not special. Yes, these are the prequels, but we don't need to be reintroduced to the Stupefy charm. We are expected to know what it is! That's the way it should be! Fantastic Beasts Indeed This is where I think most No-Maj's lost the plot. They came to review a Harry Potter movie. But, he isn't in the movie. So, how do you pass your time? You criticize everything you don't understand. And if you're not a Potterhead, then there's a lot you aren't understanding. Everyone complains when a movie is too on the nose with every reference it's trying to make. Everyone complains when a movie subtly references something and expects the audience to be a fan and understand exactly what is happening. What do you want? © Warner Brothers Pictures Deep down, the title of the series should be a giveaway. The series is about Fantastic Beasts and this movie had some truly fantastic ones. I'm not going to go into the details of each and every one but they're majestic creatures for sure. I could marvel at their beauty all day long. If even one of you think they deserve a separate article by themselves let me know in the comments and I'll do it. Action Set Pieces That Would Make Michael Bay Proud You see Michael, there is a way to make things blow up and still make it believable. Giant robots are just as unbelievable as magic. I can't believe I got to see some of the best action set pieces of the year in 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald.' It wasn't over the top at any point. It was all believable. I never for once thought we were venturing into the realm of the insane. Yes, you'd have to stretch the imagination a little since you are in a magical world, though. © Warner Brothers Pictures The action set piece right at the end gave me goosebumps. It was so powerful that I actually felt hope slowly drain out of my body. No, not because of what had happened. But, because I'm pretty sure I'm not going to see anything as powerful again any time soon. And quite frankly, that just sucks. James! Newton! Howard! James Newton Howard deserves a special mention. Music composers often go unnoticed by regular moviegoers without realizing how much of an impact they have on the story. Remember the feeling when you were taken back to Hogwarts for the first time? Think it was just the visuals that made it happen? Of course not! It was the music. Try watching it on mute and tell me if it has the same impact. Just a simple eagle eye view of Hogwarts can become so much more beautiful with the right music behind it. That's why James Newton Howard is also one of the leads of this movie. For sure! The Climax It's only fitting that we end with the climax. Before you read any further, be warned. Spoilers ahead! So, if you haven't watched 'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald' already, bookmark this link and come back once you have. © Warner Brothers Pictures It's been a while since a movie pulled the rug out from under my feet. Yes, Marvel did it with 'Infinity War'. But, we kind of had an idea that was coming. Here, it was a bolt from the blue and that's why the shock factor was much higher. I mean, I thought it ended after the battle at the cemetery. Then I thought it ended when Newt met Dumbledore at Hogwarts and handed him the pendant containing his blood oath. But, boy did I not see the gut punch. When Gellert said the name, Aurelius, I couldn't believe my ears. I was in shock. Even if you hated every single second right up to this point, your jaw was on the floor! Admit it! I sat staring at the credits for at least 10 seconds right after instead of immediately picking up my phone and typing frantically. Yes, that's impact. Partly because I didn't see that coming and partly because I probably just saw the best movie of 2018 and there's no way to obliviate myself so I can watch it for the first time, again!
  22. It's Diwali and it is another reason for our Bollywood fraternity to celebrate it in a way in which only they can—grand and king-sized. Last night was a star-studded affair when everyone dressed up like a firecracker for Karan Johar's Diwali party. 23. The popular reality television show 'Big Boss' is one of the most loved shows on Indian television. Every year, fans wait for the show to air and for Salman Khan to take the charge on 'Weekend Ka Vaar'. Love it or hate it, 'Bigg Boss' indeed is filled with ample masala quotient that makes it for an entertaining watch. Don't believe us? Just let the show start and suddenly you will see everyone around you talking about the biggest fight of the week, heated arguments, the intimacy equation, the planning, plotting and more. You may not watch a single episode, yet somehow, you will end up knowing everything about what happens inside. Just like every year, this year the theme of Salman Khan's show has been twisted and the contestants are set to enter the show in jodis. When we talk about couples here, it doesn't mean just the romantic kind. We will see brother-sister, father-son, mother-daughter, best friends, etc making their entry in the show. A few days ago, during the launch of the show in Goa, Salman introduced us to the first official jodi, noted comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiyaa who will be entering the house. With just 6 days left for the first episode, the excitement for the show is on its peak and we bring you the list of confirmed contestants who will be making it inside the house this year: 1. 24. Today, we have a lot of choice in terms of sports to watch on TV. But, go back a decade or two and the choices were pretty limited. Of course, there was cricket and hockey. But, if you were interested in any other sport, the chances of finding Live programming on TV were slim. But, there were some other sports that were on the fringe, threatening to steal eyeballs every now and then. The NBA basketball games were among the prominent ones. The audiences for such sports were of two types, hardcore fans of the sport and hardcore fans of the personalities who played the sport. We're going to be focusing on the latter here. © Getty Images Even though you'd have to be up really early in the morning to catch an NBA game live, there are many who do it. They may say it's because their favourite teams are playing but, the truth is, the only reason anyone wakes up at 5 am, is to watch their favourite player. Watching their superstars tear through oppositions is well worth the effort. And just like that, these players become something much more than stars. They become household names. Names that we can't forget. Even if you've never watched these players play a single minute of basketball you'll recognize their faces and certainly recognize their names instantly. That's the kind of status they managed to achieve in India. So, without further ado, here's a look at some of the iconic NBA stars anyone will recognize no matter how young or old they are: 1. Michael Jordan Is there any other player we could start a list of iconic NBA stars with? The man has done it all. He is the first ever sports personality to become a billionaire. Makes sense that any and everybody would recognise his name. © Getty Images If not for his time on the court (and his forgettable time in baseball) people would certainly recognise him as the man behind “Air Jordans.” “His Airness,” is one of the best basketball players of all time and we can say with reasonable certainty, that there's not a single person on the planet who hasn't heard of him. 2. Yao Ming At 7'6” Yao Ming would stand out in just about any crowd. But, while this star's height made him a formidable force in the NBA, it's not the reason for his immense popularity. Tall guy in the NBA, not a game changer is it? Nah. © Getty Images Memes, on the other hand, is a universal language that every 20-something understands. So, when your face becomes a meme, you're certainly going to become one of the most recognised faces in the world. The meme originated from a 2009 press conference. We don't know whether Yao approved of his becoming a meme or not, but what we do know, is that now no one would fail to recognise him on the street. 3. LeBron James One of the most bankable stars in basketball today, LeBron is the perfect example of what Michael Jordan would have been, if he played in the modern day. From sneaker sponsorships to epic dunks, the man does it all. © Getty Images While some may say that LeBron is more infamous than famous, our point of contention here is, he's a major crowd puller for the NBA today, whatever be the reason. If 3 NBA titles, 2 Olympic Golds, 4 NBA Season MVP's and over 31,000 weren't enough, LeBron just moved to one of the most popular NBA teams ever, the LA Lakers. We bet everyone will recognise him now. 4. Kobe Bryant Since we're on the topic of the Lakers, let's move on to one of the biggest stars to ever play for them, Kobe Bryant. 5 NBA championships, 2 Olympic Golds and over 33,000 points at an average of 25 ppg (points per game) made Kobe a menace for his opponents. © Getty Images But, it's the amount of time he spent in front of the camera that made him one of the most recognisable basketball players in the world. Throw in a fiery rivalry with his teammate Shaq and you already know that Kobe was destined for great things. Many consider him to be the Jordan of his time. Yeah, there are a lot of comparisons to Jordan in the NBA. Deal with it. 5. Dennis Rodman When we talk of NBA stars who were in the news for all the wrong reasons, we can't help but mention Dennis Rodman. While some might consider Rodman to be nothing but a poor reflection of what a professional athlete must be, we can't deny the fact that he's won 5 NBA championships. He was such a popular player for the Pistons that they even retired his number in 2011. © Getty Images While he certainly was one of the most eccentric players to ever play basketball, we'd like to believe that he is remembered for his skills on the court rather than his antics off it. Either way, Rodman is not a name we will easily forget. 6. Shaquille O'Neal Big Shaq, one of the few NBA stars who managed to get into Hollywood. Whether Hollywood helped him increase his popularity or not, will never be known, but no one can deny the effect his incredible run, as a Center for the LA Lakers, had on his popularity. © Getty Images With a towering 7'1” presence, Shaq would be just as hard to miss in a crowd as Yao Ming. He even has NBA championship rings to show off. But besides all of this, Shaq's claim to fame for the average Indian citizen would be the time, when was a part of Wrestlemania. Not many could stand toe-to-toe with the Big Show. Big Shaq could. That adds to his iconic status in India for sure.
  25. Shah Rukh Khan is called King Khan for a reason, and no one can even come close to him in the league of superstars. When you think of Bollywood, you think of SRK, that's a given. But apparently, his iconic status in the film industry didn't exactly translate to his bank account this year, as he was nowhere to be found on the Forbes list of highest paid celebrities. Considering the fact that only two Indian celebrities even made it to the Forbes highest paid celebrities list, we can't expect much, but SRK not making it still comes as a surprise, especially since he's usually a regular on the list. But, what's not surprising is that Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan were the two Indian stars on the list. Akshay came in at number 76, sharing the spot with Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson, with both of them earning $40.5 million. In the article, he's described as “One of Bollywood's leading men who has transitioned to socially-conscious roles, such as 'Toilet,' a comedy supporting government campaigns to improve sanitation, and 'Padman,' about a guy hoping to provide inexpensive sanitary pads to rural communities. He still mints millions from backend profits and endorsing some 20 brands, including Tata and Eveready.” Just a few spots below him is Salman Khan claiming the 82nd spot with $37.7 million. Talking about his achievements, Forbes said, “This Bollywood mainstay continues to produce and star in hits such as 'Tiger Zinda Hai,' cashing in on backend profits. Coupled with a slew of endorsements from Suzuki motorcycles to Chlormint gum, he remains one of India's top earners.” (Did Salman personally request them to not mention 'Race 3'?) Boxer Floyd Mayweather took the top spot, earning $285 million, and was followed by George Clooney who earned $239 million. The surprise entry, however, came in at number three. Any guesses on who this 20-year-old 'self-made' person is? Kylie Jenner, of course, the almost billionaire. If you want to feel even poorer, here's a quote from the Forbes article – “The world's 100 top-earning celebrities pulled in a combined $6.3 billion pretax over the past 12 months, up 22% from last year; 11 superstars crossed the $100 million threshold, more than double the number from the last two years combined.” Here's a list of the top 10: 1. Floyd Mayweather - $285 M 2. George Clooney - $239 M 3. Kylie Jenner - $166.5 M 4. Judy Sheindlin - $147 M 5. Dwayne Johnson - $124 M 6. U2 - $118 M 7. Coldplay - $115.5 M 8. Lionel Messi - $111 M 9. Ed Sheeran - $110 M 10. Cristiano Ronaldo - $108 M
