  1. As a frequent flier who took close to 100 flights a year for the last many years, the quality of service with Jet Airways and its erstwhile competitor Kingfisher Airlines was a privilege taken for granted. However, with both these privileges going bust, it is only a matter of time before the hungry budget carriers devise new ways to grab an extra share of their reluctant passenger's wallets. The following is a list of perks which you might have to cough up money for on a flight in the near future: 1. Pay To Not Go Standing Imagine boarding a flight and realising you are on the fast local from Virar to Churchgate. A vehicle where every millimetre has a human along with his laptop cramped in. You should not fret at this thought as money can come to your rescue; for a mere Rs. 600 you can get a seat. And another Rs. 600, you can get a seat of your choice! 2. Pay To Not Get Beaten Up By The Crew In my opinion, this is one avenue for which anyone should be ready to dole out a fee. For a flat fee of Rs. 600, you can be rest assured no crew member will punch, kick or spit on you during the entire flight. Don't pay the sum and there is a probability of a broken jaw, neck or a random bone at the end of the flight! The only consolation is that your broken part of the body might go viral on the twitter handle of the carrier for excellent customer service! 3. Pay To Access The Toilet And Not Bring Your Own 'Lota' This is the avenue where the airlines will eventually mint millions; providing access to the washroom. Given this right is fundamental to human existence, the monetisation of this access is fairly nuanced. Pay Rs. 500 and get 5-minute access to the washroom. However, at this base membership fee, there won't be water in the washroom. You will have to carry your own 'lota' (water container) through the passage as your fellow passengers will be fully aware of your tummy condition. However, for another Rs. 500, there will be a supply of water in the washroom. On festive days, there might be soap too! And if your airline is extremely generous, no crew member will bang on the door screaming out, 'jaldi karo'! 4. Pay To Be Greeted By A Smiling Air-Hostess Who wouldn't want to be greeted with a sophisticated 'how are you sir' by a petite airline beauty when you enter the plane? Going forward, there is a possibility this too might come at a price! For complimentary entry, you will be greeted by a brusque, 'kaisa hain kutte ke bachche' (no translation needed) whereas Rs 500 dole out will ensure a polite greeting without any stinging abuses! 5. Pay To Not Eat The Most Rotten Food On Air It is believed that the well-cooked meals served on budget carriers are usually leftovers from Delhi weddings which even the stray dogs refused to feast on. I am quite sure this is not true. For a base membership of Rs. 300, the food served will end up only in loose motions that last a day. For a premium membership of Rs. 1000, you will be served bread and cheese that will not damage any body organ of yours! 6. Pay To Get Your Luggage With Minimal Damage Spiritual and religious books have always maintained that man came with nothing and will end up going with nothing. Airlines have taken this one step further; without any additional charge, you can be rest assured that most valuable items of yours can go missing on a flight. However for a fee of Rs. 850, you can be reasonably guaranteed that your ill-fitting inner wear might reach you intact. 7. Pay To Have The Ability To Raise A Complaint Airlines get very cagey when they realise you want to complain against them for poor service or lost baggage. It is easier to get your father in law to write off his entire wealth to you rather than get an airline crew member to give you access to a complaint form. However, given that amazing customer experience is the new talk of the town, airlines are modernising this part of superior customer experience. You can actually complain against an airline for poor service for a meagre amount of Rs. 7,500. True value for money, isn't it? 8. Pay To Not Sit Next To A Pesky Passenger We have all been in flights with lovely co-passengers; the perverted uncle, the bawling baby, the auntie hell-bent on getting you married to her relative, the grumpy executive bellowing and burping all through the flight. Going forward, airlines might give you the option to choose your neighbours. For a neat amount of Rs. 4000, you can choose to sit next to a person of your choice in case they don't have an issue with you. Sounds like Tinder 35,000 feet above sea level, doesn't it? 9. Pay To Make Your Neighbours Smell Your Aromatic Socks An old adage goes, 'a man is measured by the stinkiness of his unwashed socks'. Who wouldn't want to flaunt his hard earned, well maintained stinky socks to his co-passengers? Like most lunches, such an act of manhood doesn't come for free. A simple payment of Rs. 1300 can ensure the entire crew is actively smelling your stinky socks and garnishing you with lavish praise! 10. Pay Not To Listen To Bhojpuri Mega-Chart Busters On A 6 Am Flight! Airlines make a constant endeavour to keep their passengers relaxed during flight transits. While some of them switch off the lights and advice their air hostesses to not giggle loudly, others try to achieve the same objective by playing the latest Bhojpuri chartbusters early morning. After all, even coffee cannot beat the night blues compared to the pelvic-thrusting, hip-gyrating beats of the latest chartbuster 'Lalaiya chusa raja ji'. For the not so musically refined, a simple one-time payment of Rs. 850 can turn off the melodious harmony! In conclusion, while some of you might land up in depression at the thought of the above state of affairs, it is only a matter of time before you get used to it. As an eternal optimist, I am grateful that they are not making me hold on the wheel while they are 35,000 feet above the sea level! You should be too!
  2. Having a six-pack is something that every guy aspires when it comes to having a good physique. If you are reading this article, it is highly possible that even you have searched something like this on the internet: 'How to lose belly fat?' 'How to get six-pack abs?' 'Easy way to build six-pack abs?' The search results that you may have gotten would be of fat burning drinks or fat loss exercises or belly fat burning techniques. Like everyone, you do those things and the end result is... nothing! © Getty Images It is high time you get it into your brain that there is no magical fix that can help you get a six-pack in a week. It needs hard work and dedication. Start with these basic steps: 1. Go On A Diet Everyone has abs, as it is the part of human physiology. The only reason people are not able to see their abs are for two reasons: a. They have a lot of body fat covering it b. They do not have developed abdominal muscles Let's cover the first part here. The reality is that you need to be on a diet to bring your body fat percentage down. At the same time, you would want to preserve the muscle mass you already have. To calculate the number of calories you need to eat for fat loss, simply multiply your body weight in pounds with 13. To preserve your muscle, have one gram of protein per pound of your body weight. If you weigh 160 lbs., this would mean: a. Calories = 160x13 = ~2100 calories b. Protein = 160 grams 2. Do Weight Training You need to lift weights to hold on to your muscle when you lose fat. © Getty Images Make sure that you are doing compound exercises aka exercises that engage your core, and are moving more than one muscle group at a time so that you build your core. You can also include direct ab training with and without abs to build them further ahead. 3. Lose Around 0.5 To 1% Of Your Body Weight Every Week You will definitely get started on a diet once you plug in those numbers from step #1 and start losing weight. Then, there will be two questions: a. How much weight to lose? b. How fast to lose it? To reveal a six-pack, you need to have around 10 to 12% body fat. So, until you reach that number, you will have to dig deep. To find your body fat number, you can use a lot of tools like online calculators or Inbody machines. Ideally, you should be losing around 0.5 to 1% of your body weight every week. If things are faster than this, you could eat some extra calories. If you are comfortable with it, you can pick up the pace a bit. If things have slowed down, you can either calculate the numbers again on your new body weight or you can simply drop 100-150 calories and things should pick up. So, go do the work and follow a plan instead of finding the next quick-fix for six-pack abs. 3. Do you keep missing gym sessions due to lack of motivation? Do you find lame excuses to destroy your diet and screw your own fitness progress? Here, I am going to talk a little bit about human psychology and how you can kick the crutches of motivation and actually achieve the results you are looking for. Motivation is of two kinds: 1. Extrinsic Motivation - Motivation to act in a certain way due to external rewards such as money, fame, marks, and praise. E.g. – Losing fat so you can impress the girl that you like. 2. Intrinsic Motivation - Motivation to act in a certain way due to internal reasons. E.g. – Losing fat because you want to be fit and live longer. © Getty Images If you're losing fat because someone else wants it, you will lose motivation and go off-track soon. Apparently, our goal should be to shift our focus from Extrinsic Motivation to Intrinsic Motivation over time. This will give meaning to your goal! Okay, you get it now. But how to keep that motivation up, throughout? Let me tell you – even the topmost athletes lose motivation to stick to their Nutrition & Workout Plan sometimes. They're humans too. So what keeps them on the track? These things: 1. Structured Nutrition & Workout Plans: If you have a structured Nutrition & Workout plan outlined and customized according to your lifestyle, the chances of you going off-track reduce 10x. Do you know why? Because you look forward to the exercises and meals planned for the day. This makes you stick to the plan. 2. Meal Preparation For The Week: In continuation of the previous point, the preparation of the majority of the meals of the week will make you stick to the routine and minimize decision fatigue. © Getty Images 3. Fitness As A Lifestyle: Make fitness, your workouts and eating accordingly, a part of your lifestyle. All of this should never be a burden to you. Instead, all of this should add meaning to your life. 4. Flexible & Realistic Plans: If your plans are flexible, realistic and don't require you to eat salads all day, the chances of you to stick to your routine and keeping the motivated increase to a new level. You should indulge in your favourite foods moderately, whenever you want to. Summary – Stop waiting for Motivation to come and kiss your feet. Instead, create a routine that you can stick to and be disciplined. 4. If you think this is another post that is going to give you a 'not-my-fault' card and blame carbs, hormones, sugar, junk, insulin, etc. for you being overweight, pay twice the amount of attention. Let me first put out the most important fact on the table. Who do you think is responsible for you being fat? YOU. Nothing and no one else. So firstly, stop with the blame game. You may still be thinking that "no, it is the hormones. I eat healthy all the time. How can it be?" Read through and you will realize how it is still you. The very basic of weight loss or weight gain is calorie balance. Eat more and expend less, you gain weight. Eat less and expend more, you lose weight. As simple as that. So the ONLY rule to lose weight is to burn more calories and eat fewer calories. Simply put, 'Eat less move more.' So, how do you figure that you are getting fat even if though you are eating healthy? 1. You Indulge In Mindless Eating Humans have evolved with survival instincts and this survival has one main food instinct which says 'see food, eat food.' I am not lying. You can try this experiment yourself. In your working space, fill a bowl up with chocolates and keep it someplace where people often visit, ideally by the printer or the water dispenser. © Unsplash Now check the same bowl towards the end of the day. There is a good chance that there would be little to no chocolates in there. Then, ask your co-workers casually what have they eaten all day. Almost nobody will mention chocolates on that list. Not that they want to lie to you, their brain simply does not register the food they eat subconsciously. The same translates to portion sizes and eating while not paying attention. Look at the computer screen or TV while eating and you might as well finish off an entire pizza, as your brain does not respond to the fullness signal as your attention is elsewhere. 2. Under-Reporting & Over-Estimation There is research which shows that people who keep food journals are terrible at reporting their food intakes and even worse at estimating their energy expenditure. © Unsplash A 1992 study showed that people under-reported food intake by 47% and over-reported energy expenditure by 51%. Considering that you eat as per the normal food guidelines and do around an hour of activity per day, your intake would come to around 2200 kcals and expenditure would be 400 kcals. But as per the study, the same example above meant people reported that they ate around 1200 kcals and had an expenditure of around 800 kcals. That is a huge margin of error and now you can see where you might be going wrong too. 3. Cheat Days Do Not Count This is usually the norm that even though you may be eating well or mindfully during the week, every weekend ends up being a deserved cheat day. © Unsplash Firstly, if you are dieting in the first place and you are above the normal range of body fat%, i.e. 10 to 15%, nothing about your cheat day is 'deserved'. And more often than not, these unaccounted cheat days are a shit ton of calories down your throat that needs to be stored somewhere. They are not going to magically disappear into thin air. So, the next time you think that it is the hormones making you fat, always remember this: It is ALWAYS you! 5. The fourth match of the five-ODI-series between India and the visiting Australia was nothing short of a nightmare for the Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who missed a couple of stumping opportunities and dropped a few catches at crucial moments of the game as the man responsible behind the wicket. The blame for the loss can't be completely shifted to Pant's head, as a series of issues occurred during the game, including misjudgement about dew at the time of the toss and Kedar Jadhav and Shikhar Dhawan dropping back to back catches in the final overs. But because of the fact that former captain and main wicketkeeper of the team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni was not a member of the playing XI, the 21-year-old Pant became the magnet to attract all the hate for the loss. Rishabh Pant's Instagram right now. Come on Dhoni fans, He doesn't deserve this ð£pic.twitter.com/wUheEEmsEk — Abhishek (@ImAbhishek7_) March 10, 2019 This is how Pant's Instagram handle looks like ever since India's second loss of the series which tied the score at 2-2. Realising the toxicity in the air towards his ward, Pant's childhood coach, Tarak Sinha decided to speak out about the issue and call the Indian audience out on the unfair comparisons between his former student and a seasoned veteran like MS Dhoni. “Such comparisons are cropping up because, like Dhoni, he (Pant) is also a wicketkeeper-batsman. But it's unfair on him because it puts undue pressure for him to perform in a particular way, and be like Dhoni. He performs the best when his mind is free,” the seasoned coach said. Reminding one about the early days of wicketkeeping at the hands of the former skipper, Sinha said: “There's a difference between the Pant of today and Dhoni 14-years-ago when he was making his way into the Indian team. Back then, he did not come with the kind of baggage like Pant has. There wasn't any legendary wicketkeeper whom he was replacing.” “The guys back then were either Dinesh Karthik or Parthiv Patel, players younger to him. So, he (Dhoni) was free from the pressure and expectations that Pant is facing today.” What is worth commending right now is Pant's mature mentality, for he has shown zero signs of revolt or frustration towards everyone who supported him a couple of months ago during his brilliant run in Australia and turned on him instantly after a game of bad wicket keeping. Obviously, Pant is nowhere near the skill set of someone like Dhoni, but that doesn't mean that he is no good.
  6. A second heartwarming story on Twitter in one day and not a story about a bunch of trolls? How? I never knew this was even possible. Okay, keeping all the jokes aside, I would just like to say Twitter is having a good day today. First, there was a son who helped his dad who was about no customers showing up at his donut shop with the power of social media and now, a huge company took out the time to give the perfect response to a little boy with big dreams. Alan Joyce, the CEO of Qantas, an Australian airline took the time to respond to 10-year-old Alex Jacquot who had sent him a handwritten letter asking for advice about his own airlines called Oceania Express. Just look at the adorable little letter! He's already working on his dreams and has tried to set up everything, he's so serious about achieving this that he wrote to a man who he knows can guide him. This kid is going places, I can tell you that right now. Well, a CEO of big company is obviously busy but I still can't get over how Alan Joyce took out the time to give a proper response to Alex. After all, CEOs help out other CEOs. Here's the letter Alan sent back to Alex: Such a good way to encourage a little kid to go and achieve his dreams. You already know that Alex is going to remember this letter his whole life, and it will probably motivate him as well. Look at how happy he looks! Our competitors don't normally ask us for advice, but when an airline leader reached out, we couldn't ignore it. Naturally, there was only one way to respond: CEO to CEO. pic.twitter.com/JTFpzn5a6Y — Qantas (@Qantas) March 11, 2019 Everyone will be flying with Oceania Express in a few years. Corporate Australia taking our young people seriously! I love it! Investing in the future....Can't wait to book a ticket with Oceania Express....ð https://t.co/zJ8YBIyaLd — Jane Artup (@Janeartup) March 11, 2019 Well done. As a former Qantas employee, I could not be more proud than I am right now to be affiliated with a company (that I will always feel part of). Well done, Alan. — âHeather Forresterâ (@itsme_heather) March 11, 2019 Love all the hashtags. Hats off to Alan Joyce & @Qantas What an opportunity for Alex and all those Oceania Airline employees. I hope we see Oceania Airlines in the skies one day! #dreambig #dreamscancometrue #ifyoucandreamityoucandoit #kidpower https://t.co/Y0UektKGOa — Justin Hill (@jedjnr) March 11, 2019 Young fans are important. This is how business persons should respond to young fans. And if you haven't flown Qantas, you're missing out on one of my favorite airlines, and a gorgeous country to fly over and visit. https://t.co/cgv8yZF79I — Vic.castillo23 (@VC2388) March 11, 2019 Exactly. Seeing it posted on social media does make this more of a marketing exercise, but can't fault it if the end result is inspiring entrepreneurs of any age. Well done Qantas. — Jason Bowman (@freakdesign) March 11, 2019 He's coming for you! Brilliant! - And wonderful to see Catering is high on his list of priorities. Other Airline CEO's lookout! https://t.co/tRhnpnp6R5 — Jeremy Clark ð¬ð§ð¨ðð²ð¾ (@Trayset) March 11, 2019 This is so cute. Hey Alex - Pete drew some blueprints up for your first plane! Good luck! #TheProjectTV pic.twitter.com/HIkveqLWH5 — The Project (@theprojecttv) March 11, 2019 Yes. "Please take me seriously." Alex is very relatable. — Bela (@_Bellabyrinth) March 11, 2019
  7. Bros… They fight and then they make up. While some fights are short-lived and can be overcome over a couple of cold ones, some are rather ghastly and leave a scar on the relationship. It may last for years, sometimes even decades but if they are true to their friendship, things do end on a happy note. Such is the case with the two Indian bowlers who used to be best buddies before one day, India's top spinner Harbhajan Singh decided to get one across S Sreesanth's face after the end of an Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). More than a decade ago, during IPL's 2008 series, Singh's Mumbai Indians were going through a bad run and were on a losing streak. Things were hostile inside the locker room and the frustration showed on the faces and in the actions of the team members. So, when the then 24-year-old Sreesanth led Punjab to victory against Singh's MI, the Kerala-born pacer ended up with a red face and tears in his eyes. Why, you ask? Well, because after an over enthusiastic Sreesanth, who was known for mocking the batsmen after he got them out, did the same to Bhajji's men, Singh ended up slapping his fellow Man in Blue. Of course, we are going on the words of the people who witnessed this live, as there is no footage of the incident taking place. However, 11 years later, in an interview with BehindWoods Air, Singh has finally given his apology in front of everyone and believes that it should not have happened. “Whatever happened with Sreesanth.. me and him on the field… a lot of people talk about that incident now. If I have to go back and rectify something in my life, I would correct that. I shouldn't have done that,” he said. Now it is up to Sreesanth, who has been desperate to get another chance of playing with Team India after being accused of match fixing, to let go of the incident and forgive Bhajji. Could this be the beginning of another bromance? After all, time heals all wounds.
  8. Apple will apparently start assembling its premium iPhones in India through a local plant of its manufacturer Foxconn. It's expected to commence from as early as 2019 and will be the first time for Apple to locally assemble the more expensive iPhones. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Apple has been assembling iPhones in India since 2017. However, it has remained exclusive to the iPhone 6S and SE. The move comes due to the Indian government putting a high tariff on imported smartphones which has resulted in Apple losing a huge chunk of the market share. This would drive the price of premium iPhones through the roof which has resulted in poor performance in the Indian market for the Cupertino giant. © Reuters According to Economic Times, Foxconn will be manufacturing new iPhones at the Sriperumbudur plant in Tamil Nadu. Foxconn already manufactures smartphones for Xiaomi in India and will invest 25 billion Indian rupees ($356 million) to expand the plant. This includes expansion into manufacturing of iPhones in India. Due to the new expansion, Apple will be able to curb prices of premium iPhones and will be able to compete better with companies like OnePlus and Samsung. This will result in reduced prices for the flagship iPhones and drive more sales for the company. If you want to know more about how Apple can change their fortunes in India, you can read our detailed analysis here.

  10. Having graced the silver screen with his par excellence acting skills and essaying strong, meaningful roles in films and web series, this year has been a momentous one for Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The man charmed his way into the hearts of his audience with his stellar deliveries on-screen, and there is much more - bigger and better things - in store for him in the upcoming new year. After his entertaining performance as Gaitonde in 'Sacred Games' and solid portrayal of writer-poet Saadat Hasan Manto in Nandita Das' latest creation, Nawazuddin is yet again getting ready to star in a biopic. © Instagram Releasing early next year, Nawazuddin is set to play the role of founder and former Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray, in his upcoming movie 'Thackeray' directed by Abhijit Panse and written by Shiv Sena politician Sanjay Raut. While we have already watched and admired the actor's superior acting in the movie's teaser which was released last month, it is however this active snippet circulating on social media that's gaining a lot of attention. In a latest clip from the movie, Nawazuddin is seen making his way to his car in all his political glory. However, it is the uncanny resemblance of the actor to Bal Thackeray that's got the viewers lose their shit. Take a look at the clip here: View this post on Instagram A glimpse into #Thackeray starring @nawazuddin._siddiqui #Bollywood #ZoomTV #Nawaz #NawazuddinSiddiqui #Video #Biopic #Film A post shared by Zoom TV (@zoomtv) on Dec 16, 2018 at 10:26pm PST Wrapped in saffron and adorned by iconic Bal Thackeray paraphernalia, the resemblance between the two men is indeed massive. The movie promises an insight into the life and rise of one of Maharashtra's greatest political leader, and it is safe to say that Nawazuddin seem pretty close to doing justice to the magnanimous personality.
  11. Years will come by and trends may change, but if there's something that's never going to change is the fact that a 6-pack will always be desirable. It's like an epitome of fitness and shows that you're serious about your nutrition. It shows the world that you're dedicated to the fit lifestyle and aren't afraid of the hard work. Though the first requisite of having a chiseled core is a 'clean' and 'calculative' diet, yet focusing on your core with some isolation movement will give you the finesse that you are looking for. 1) Single Arm Side Bends (High Pulley) © YouTube I can't tell you how much underrated is the Oblique muscle workout. People limit themselves to only crunches when it comes to isolating their core and then later on complaint about having weak sides. Well, this exercise is surely going to do the needful for you. I personally prefer using cables for certain movements like this one as they provide you the constant tension to the muscle group. To perform the movement, get on your knees on the floor with pulley machine being positioned on one of the sides. Put the pulley at a level high enough that when you start the movement, the handle/lever is at your shoulder level. Now crunch sideways to feel the contraction in your oblique muscles. 2) Ab Wheel Roll-Outs © Pixabay Out of all the advertisements that you see on your television set that offer you various benefits from fat loss and abs, ab roller is the only one that lives up to the expectation. The rollout hits spinal flexion and anti-extension extremely hard and gives shouts out to your serratus and lats. However, it might not be a good idea to perform this exercise if you are a complete beginner or have lower back issue. If you do not have an ab roller in your gym, you can perform this exercise with the help of barbell and plates. 3) Bottoms Up © YouTube I am sure you must have performed reverse crunches and hip raises as a part of your regular abs workout routine. Bottoms Up is an exercise which includes the movement of both these exercises together. Again, people with severe back issue can give it miss otherwise it's really a challenging exercise to train your core. 4) Reverse Crunch On Decline Bench This is very good exercise to perform if you have difficulty in performing hanging leg raises. This exercise mimics the same movement as hanging leg raises without putting too much stress on your lower back. People with heavy leg and stiff lower back have difficulty in performing hanging leg raises as they can't move their pelvic and perform hip flexion than engaging their abs. © Bodybuilding Wizard 5) Planks © YouTube Planks offer the best isometric hold that focuses totally on the core. It activates rectus abdominis and oblique together. This exercise will always make it to the best exercises for abs as beginners as well as advanced athletes can perform this exercise according to their strength capabilities. Once you have perfected the technique of performing the conventional planks you can try the advance movements like lifting an arm or lifting up one leg. You can also try adding weight on your back to make it more challenging for you. 12. This article does not constitute medical advice. Please see your licensed medical physician for information about how best to manage diabetes in your individual case. It's always a good idea to talk to your doctor before starting a new diet or exercise regimen. Diabetes has become as common as a cold lately. Every other person seems to be suffering from diabetes or is pre-diabetic or on blood glucose control pills these days. When you get a blood test done and if your sugars are out of place, your doctor tells you to lose some weight and start doing some exercise. As an obedient person, you cut out sugar from your diet and start going on morning walks. Some even start taking it to another level by running marathons and doing extensive cardio. © Pixabay And it barely helps. I have covered the dietary part of diabetes management in a standalone article which you can read on my writer's profile. In this one, I am going to speak specifically about training. Many people who have type 2 diabetes or at the very least are insulin resistant have these going for them- 1. They are overweight or even obese. 2. They have a sedentary lifestyle with no training. People become insulin resistant as they are fat. When this happens, their tissues and organs cannot store glucose. Which, in turn, leads to diabetes. *Both your fat and muscle tissue become insulin resistant. Add to that, the sedentary lifestyle makes their muscle lose metabolic flexibility. What is muscle's metabolic flexibility? Your muscles store glucose in the form of glycogen. When you train, especially lifting weights, you deplete these glycogen stores. This happens locally. For example, if you do arm training, your arms will burn the glucose/glycogen for energy. When you train legs, the glycogen stores of your legs get empty. Once they get empty and as you are doing resistance training, the muscle tissues regain their metabolic flexibility and become insulin sensitive. As they are now insulin sensitive and empty, they can uptake glycogen or the carbohydrates coming from your diet. Add to that, having a diet containing adequate protein leads to you preserving the muscle tissue (0.8 to 1.2 grams per pound of body weight). When you preserve muscle tissue or have more muscle in general, these storage sites for glycogen are much bigger. © YouTube Adding a little bit of cardio to your plan can definitely help, but it should not be the only source of your training. Cardio and especially low or moderate intensity depends on your aerobic pathways for energy and does not really burn much of the muscle glycogen. And doing excessive cardio can also result in muscle loss. If you are a beginner and looking to start with a weight training routine, I have written many pieces with sample training routine in the past. To summarize what you should do if you are insulin resistant or have diabetes: 1. Start lifting weights. 2. Eat adequate protein - 0.8 to 1.2 grams per pound. 3. Do not do excessive cardio. 4. Lose fat. 5. Maintain your fat loss. 15. No one in their right mind would turn down some extra money, isn't it? Not even if you're a big movie star who also happens to be a 'Nawab'. Now we'll just have to wait and see how long it will take Taimur to make his debut. Ever since he was born, he has been in news probably more than both his famous parents and I'm sure everyone remembers the 'Taimur- apocalypse' where no one could stop talking about how adorable he is. Yeah, that was only a little creepy. But, the main question is why didn't Saif Ali Khan use his son's star power to promote his own movies? Even Saif knows it's not that bad an idea. View this post on Instagram A post shared by kareena k khan officalðµ (@kareenakapoorkhanoffi) on Oct 16, 2018 at 12:23am PDT During a recent interview, Saif talked about this while promoting his movie 'Bazaar'. He said, “Every producer I am working with has half-jokingly said, 'Haha can we put him with white in his hair?' (Saif sports salt and pepper hair in Baazaar). With Kaalakaandi, they wanted to put rubber bands. In Hunter, they want to put that Naga Sadhu wig on this poor guy,” But nope, someone is not on board. Kareena is not open to putting her son in the showbiz already, even telling Saif to not be 'cheap'. Saif went on, “My wife says, 'Don't be so cheap. You can't sell your son (Taimur)'. I am like, 'Why not? Let's sell him'. Seriously yaar, he is anyway there on the internet.” View this post on Instagram There is so much of love for Taimur ðª #20122017ð #taimursfirstbirthdayððð A post shared by Kareena Kapoor Khan (@therealkareenakapoor) on Dec 20, 2017 at 11:20am PST Totally agree, man! He's already out there and is loved by all. Saif also jokingly said that he's open to any nappy ads or something like that for his son. He said, “I am just using this platform to say if anybody has any good nappy ads or anything... at a very reasonable price...it's not reasonable, it's quite expensive actually. And, I won't give him the money also. I'll give him some cash for his education, I am already giving it to him. And I'll spend the rest!” When asked what plans he has for the obviously huge amount of money Taimur will receive, he only had one answer – “On holidays in Switzerland yaar!” Here's the interview, if you're interested – He also addressed the most important question and it was really about time – how he feels about everyone, especially media's obsession with Taimur? He said, “Media's constant attention to him does not really bother me, but it would be better if it was not there. If the media likes it, people like it, I am okay with it; but I won't be interested in someone else's kids so much.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by Kareena Kapoor Khan (@therealkareenakapoor) on Oct 12, 2018 at 6:04am PDT On the same topic, he said, “On one level, it is nice that he makes people laugh and smile; but on another level, why is so much attention given to a kid? Why are we so interested in a little kid so much? I don't understand it. Our job is to keep him balanced. I think Indian parents like us, like my parents, have a slightly tough time trying to put good moral values and basic family values into kids who grow up with too much attention. And it is possible. So, we hope that he is going to grow up fine and we're very conscious of it.” While we know Saif Ali Khan was clearly joking about putting his son in nappy ads, we know for sure that it will probably break the internet if it actually happens.
  16. Reports circulating have indicated that the company was planning to earn revenue from WhatsApp by placing ads in its users' statuses. It is now planning to allow advertisements to be displayed in the 'Status' section of the app. WhatsApp's 'Status' feature allows users to share text, photos, videos, and animated GIFs that disappear after 24 hours. © YouTube According to a tweet by WABetaInfo, Facebook has already started implementing ads in the Status section of the social messaging app. They are not visible yet, but the feature will be enabled in the future. WhatsApp beta for Android 2.18.305: WhatsApp is implementing in this version ads for Status. They are not visible yet and the feature will be enabled in future. — WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) October 5, 2018 According to previous media reports, the advertisements would be powered by Facebook's native advertising system and would be aimed at helping users understand and participate in businesses using the messaging app. WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, one of the largest advertising companies in the world. The report states that Facebook could implement ads on WhatsApp in a way, that is similar to Instagram's 'Stories' feature. The move has been making the rounds ever since Facebook acquired WhatsApp, since that is one of the very few successful ways of monetization. © WhatsApp Thankfully, WhatsApp has firmly always said that all chat content is encrypted and cannot be viewed by the company itself. Meaning, Ads will not be targeted to you based on your chats or interests. WhatsApp co-founder Brian Acton, who left the company last year, in his interview to Forbes last month also hinted towards the ways the platform could be monetized. Acton said that he had disagreements with Facebook chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg over WhatsApp's business model and that the company zeroed on two ways to earn revenue from the app. © Brian Acton / Picture by Recode WhatsApp has been free to use since its inception, while the company did charge a nominal fee in the early stage, it soon stopped the subscription model and has been completely free to use since then. Four years after its acquisition by Facebook for US$ 19 billion, WhatsApp now has over 1.5 billion users and will reportedly carry targeted ads from 2019, on a platform that has been ad-free till date. 18. I think it's safe to assume that most (if not all!) of us want to adapt to a healthier lifestyle, and one of the key prerequisites of adapting to that lifestyle involves regularly going to the gym. But as fitness experts will let all gym beginners know, there are a few things they should have in their possession before they start working out - think of these as basic gym essentials that will make life a lot easier for you. And so on that note, here are five things that all gym newbies should stock up on before they start hitting the gym. 1) A Fitness Band © Pexels No longer a piece of novelty, a fitness band has become somewhat of a necessity for working out nowadays. Apart from helping you track your calorie intake and record your workouts, most fitness bands also come equipped with heart rate monitors, IP67 water and sweat resistance and even a blood pressure tracker, making them a healthy addition to your workouts. Pro tip: Some of the best fitness bands in India (link: https://www.mensxp.com/technology/wearables/42390-top-6-budget-fitness-trackers-you-can-buy-in-india-right-now.html) that happen to be budget-friendly as well, are curated by Garmin and Honor. 2) A Pair Of Running Shoes © Instagram/Varun Dhawan This probably goes without saying, but it's such an important and essential requirement that it warrants a mention on our list, regardless of its obviousness. You cannot expect to start hitting the gym and working out without investing in a pair of A-grade and premium running shoes. Not only are they essential for providing the right stability to your body, but they can also help you avoid getting injured. Pro tip: Nike, Puma and Adidas offer some of the best running shoes for men out there. Though they can be a tad bit expensive, they make for a worthy and long-term investment. 3) A Pair Of Wireless Headphones © Instagram/Virat Kohli Investing in wireless headphones should also be a no-brainer. Not only will they help you break monotony during your long and exhausting gym sessions, but they can also help you pump yourself up during your workouts. The reason why you need to opt for wireless headphones instead of their wired counterparts is simple - you don't want the wires to become a hindrance to your workouts. We also recommend opting for wireless headphones over wireless earphones as the former provide more stability and are less likely to fall off. Pro tip: Sony and JBL offer some of the best Bluetooth headphones under Rs 5000 making them super cost-effective as well. 4) Activewear © Instagram/Virat Kohli While you technically can work out in a regular pair of shorts and a basic t-shirt, it's not advisable. Instead, you should try opting for activewear as it's not only supremely more comfortable, but it's also going to help accentuate your workouts. 5) A Pair Of Exercise Gloves © Instagram/Shahid Kapoor Rest assured, as you soon as you start working out, sooner or later you'll be lifting weights. And while you may not realize it now, investing in the right pair of exercise gloves will end up being a lifesaver for you. So if you have any plans of being a regular at your gym, and not just someone who gives up after one week, ensuring that you are carrying a pair of exercise gloves with you is highly recommended.
  19. So, if you're trying to text a girl, not all of them will respond to a simple 'hey' or a 'hi' message. You obviously want to be set apart from the crowd and really pique your crush's interest, just by texting her, don't you? Sometimes, people don't pay much heed to simple texts and although they might reply out of formality, if you really want to get your crush hooked to texting you back, you really need to send her something really interesting. And by text, I am referring to 'DMs', Whatsapp messages, Instagram and wherever else you may message her. © Twitter The first message is always a deal breaker and it really has to be well thought out, so that she replies with something that carries forth a conversation. That's why you can't be spontaneous in the first instant when you send a text, and neither can you wing it. So, if you're the nervous type, maybe we can help you out. Here are a few ways to get your crush to text you back to something she can't resist answering: (1) "Hey, did I see you last night at .....? Something really funny happened there. Did you notice it too?" Well, obviously you didn't see her wherever you've mentioned in the text but what's the harm in telling a little white lie? She will definitely respond by saying "no I wasn't there but tell me what happened"? and you can start a conversation with her thereon. Simple? © Pinterest (2) "Listen, remember we were having a debate over ...Well, that debate just triggered something really interesting in my head" This one is for those of you who've spoken to your respective crushes and have had a healthy conversation about something. Think of something related to that context and pick another topic to discuss over messages. She'll definitely be curious to know what you've thought about. © Thinkstock (3) "You should definitely watch the new series of ... on Netflix. Do you know what's it about"? Always a classic! Talking about a recent show definitely starts a good conversation. If she's not seen it and you talk about the show, maybe you can invite her over to watch it with you? © Pinterest (4) "I just saw this movie and this character reminded me of you so much"! Obviously, it didn't but you can surely think of a movie you've seen in the recent past and tell her about it and flatter her a little bit? All girls love compliments and if you pick up a nice character from a movie, she'll appreciate it and definitely ask you why it reminds you of her. © Twitter (5) "Hey, name a good show I can watch on Netflix"? Always a conversation starter, no matter what! And if she loves watching series, this conversation can go on for long! © Twitter (6) "So, tell me your favourite place to eat around town"? Simple and very informative. If she's a foodie, you must ask her this question. It seems natural and simple, like you're just genuinely curious about where she likes to eat. She'll be glad you asked! © Thinkstock (7) "Good morning, have a swell day and don't stress too much" Even if the conversation after you send this message doesn't go on for long between you two, at least she'll appreciate the gesture and the intent behind this message. It's a sweet morning message and if she does work late hours and is taking a lot of work stress off late, this is the best thing to send her. © Pinterest (8) "Hey, heard you like Jazz music? There's this really good band performing at ..., you want to come with"? Music always binds people and is the most common interest anyone can bond over. Obviously, you can substitute 'jazz' with any other genre and 'band' with 'DJ' or 'live set'. But if she really digs music, she'll never say no! © Pinterest (9) "I know you work out a lot and I want to really get into it as well. Any pointers"? Most girls work out nowadays. It's just about realising the importance one has to give to their body. So, if you're crushing on someone who works out, ask them their fitness routine, making it seem like you want to start working out as well. Obviously, if you're already actively working out, she doesn't need to know...yet! © Pinterest (10) "Have you read... yet? I think it's a fantastic book. What do you think"? This is for those bookworms and even if you don't read at least find out what she likes reading, do a bit of research and ask her about her favourite book. She will definitely love to answer your questions and carry forth a conversation subsequently! © Pinterest So, if you're ever perplexed about how to start a conversation with your crush over messages/texts etc. here are some ways to get you started. You can also see her interest through her posts on Facebook or her pictures on Instagram and ask her questions or start a conversation accordingly! Just don't be a creep or piss her off with your persistence. Be a gentleman about it!
  20. Not very long ago, Saina Nehwal reigned supreme as the postergirl of Indian badminton. Then came a challenger, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu. The young girl fought tooth and nail through a series of brilliant performances on the international stage. But, as Nehwal and Sindhu fought for supremacy, Indian badminton took pride in the fact that they could now boast two of the best shuttlers in the world - a luxury that eluded India for many years. Today, Sindhu is arguably the more convincing and consistent shuttler than her experienced compatriot. While Nehwal has struggled with injuries and unfavourable results, Sindhu has enjoyed a great run across tournaments. If anyone has followed her career graph, they'd agree that Sindhu, over the years, has mastered the art of delivering in crunch situations. And, her silver-medal finish in the ongoing 2018 Asian Games is a testimony to that. After becoming the first Indian shuttler to reach a singles final at the Asian Games, Sindhu went on further to etch her name in the annals of Indian sports history by bagging a historic silver medal in the women's singles event. The 23-year-old went down fighting 21-13, 21-16 against Tai Tzu Ying in the summit clash. © AP Going into the final having lost five straight games to Tai, Sindhu, ahead of their clash, claimed that she had a few cards up her sleeve and some ideas to counter her Chinese Taipei opponent. But, on the day it mattered the most, none of those tricks could save Sindhu from suffering her sixth consecutive defeat against Tai. Having displaced Nehwal in the semifinals, Tai appeared to be destined for glory as she began dominating the final right from the start. Making full use of her speed and precision, Tai forced Sindhu to play catch up as she romped to a 5-0 lead in the first game. The Indian shuttler tried to cut the deficit, but Tai was always a step ahead. From deploying perfectly-disguised drop shots to bamboozling the opponent with clever wristwork, the Chinese Taipei player wrapped up the first game 21-13 in a mere 16 minutes. Staring down the barrel, Sindhu knew she had to begin well in the second game. Playing with a strategy to push Tai to the back of the court, Sindhu did well to put the second game level at 4-4. © Reuters However, a sense of urgency and desperation to push the tempo saw Sindhu committing far too many errors. When she managed to find adequate range on her deep shots, Sindhu's drops that followed were just not effective to win points. With every single point, Tai tightened her grip on the gold medal and an un-returnable smash saw her taking a 15-10 lead. The final stages of the game saw Tai earning a match point and while Sindhu managed to save one, she couldn't prolong the inevitable after her opponent notched up the gold with a brilliant drop shot. Sindhu's dream of pulling one back against Tai and securing India's first Asian games gold in badminton singles event went up in flames. If Sindhu was good, Tai was even better. There is no denying that Sindhu's silver medal is worthy of praise, it surely is. But, the fact that the Indian shuttler has now lost three finals at major events this year undoubtedly exposes an area of improvement that Sindhu needs to work on. © AP Before suffering a heartbreak against Tai, Sindhu lost the Commonwealth Games final to Nehwal in Gold Coast and the summit clash of World Championships to Carolina Marin in Nanjing earlier this year. She had also lost the finals at India Open to Beiwen Zhang and Thailand Open to Nozomi Okuhara this year. Sindhu is undeniably a fantastic shuttler who probably got outplayed by Tai in the final, but the fact she has been losing the finals more consistently than winning them is something that could very well dent her reputation and surely derail her journey to becoming one of the world's best.
  21. No drinking session starts without the mandatory clink of the glasses and exhilarating shout of 'cheers'. How many times have your friends reprimanded you for proceeding to drink without doing the ritualistic 'cheers'? And then sheepishly, you nod and enthusiastically clink your glass with everybody else's. Do you know the reason behind this drinking ritual that has become indispensible to social drinking today? © Thinkstock Photos/Getty Images As per the most popular legend, clinking beer glasses was pretty common in taverns and during feasts in the ancient Europe. Clinking glasses so that some of the liquid spilled out into the other person's glass was a way of proving you had not poisoned your comrade's drink. Drunken brawls and personal enmities were not uncommon in those days where warriors, noblemen, courtiers sat down for an evening of revelry. So clinking glasses and spilling your drink into the other's meant you were not trying to kill them. However, there is no evidence of this practice in history. © Thinkstock Photos/Getty Images Another popular reason behind this is a bit more scientific. The sound of clinking of the glasses is supposed to heighten the pleasure of drinking by adding to one more sense i.e. the sense of hearing. Alcohol, especially wine, is best enjoyed when all the sense are involved – taking in the aroma of the spirit, watching the bubbly rise up in the glass, and swirling the velvety liquid inside your mouth. Add to it the pleasant jingle of wine glasses and you are set for the evening. So now you know why we clink our glasses in a collective gesture of brotherhood, go ahead and show off this knowledge the next time you go out drinking.
  22. When it comes to accessories, sunglasses pretty much occupy the top spot - especially when it comes to celebrity fashion (they wear it at night too, you see). But let's talk about why wearing sunglasses is extremely important. Yes, they magnify your style quotient exponentially, true, but they do so much more for your well-being, from a purely functional point of view. Let's discuss 6 less talked about, often overlooked points about why we need to start wearing sunglasses: 1. Preventing Skin Cancer © Twitter Eye protection is a given, but the skin around your eyes need protection from the harsh sunlight as well. Around 10% of all skin cancers happen around the eyes, so it's extremely important for you to put on sunglasses before you step out in that harsh sunlight. Plus, the skin around the eyes is one of the most sensitive areas in the human body. 2. Preventing Cataract & Glaucoma © Twitter When some areas of the eye lens get clouded, it's called a cataract. It's been proven that prolonged exposure to UV rays contributes to cataract, and in serious cases, may result in blindness, also in those patients already suffering from Glaucoma. Make sure you never leave home without a pair of sunglasses, whether or not you have symptoms of cataracts or Glaucoma. 3. Preventing Pterygium © Twitter Pterygium is a painful growth on the eyeball. It can be treated with eye drops, surgery, or steroids, but it is extremely irritating and annoying. The best protection against it is prevention, that can be done by shielding your eyes from harsh sunlight and UV rays. 4. Macular Degeneration © Twitter This is a condition where a part of the Macula (on the retina) starts degenerating. Research shows exposure to UV radiation can speed up the process, so wearing sunglasses is of paramount importance. 5. Preventing Sun Related Headaches & Migraines © Twitter Strong sunlight is a leading cause for triggering headaches and migraines. Wearing sunglasses can easily help curb that. Plus, you'll be less fatigued and more comfortable in the heat. 6. You'll Look Super Stylish © Twitter Last, but not the least, wearing sunglasses makes you look super stylish in an instant. Moral of the story: Please start wearing sunglasses. Now.

  24. Hello dear users, not everyone know exactly how to create even a basic application in IPS 4x because of fact, that there is no HOW TO on Developers page yet. Most of 3x Developers have checked every each of Dev docs to create their own apps, i miss this "START HERE:" tutorial too so i'm about to tell all of You how to create Hello World app, i will be explaining every each of steps so there is no "why this isn't working? what i'm doing wrong?" but let me inform you that i am NOT a pro coder and I can explain some things wrong but i try my best. So, let's begin.. STEP 1: Enabling Developer mode I'm recommending creating own apps on forums located on localhost because of fact that the Developer Mode can mess up with your community if you do something wrong. You can download actual Developer Tools here, after downloading the files, upload them to your parent folder of your hosting (in most cases public_html). After you've uploaded files to your www hosting, create an constants.php file and put this code inside: <?php define( 'IN_DEV', TRUE ); to enable Dev Mode. More informations here: STEP 2: Creating an Application trough your Admin CP After completing first step, you'll need to go to your ACP and create application in ACP → System → Applications using the "+ Create new" button located on top right side of page. Now you can input an Application Name, Application Directory(which is required), Author Name, Author website, Update Check URL and set the Protected status. Let's input something like this for an Hello World app: After inputting some strings, let's go ahead and create app by clicking Save button. Now if you look inside applications folder on your www you'll see that folder (in my case)helloworld have been created. Application Directory is actually an app key too so, remember it. STEP 3: Developer Center Each of app has it's own Developer Center located in ACP → System → Applications → Your Application → Dropdown menu → Developer Center Inside the Developer Center is everything you need to build your own application, to set up your extensions, app settings, databases, ACP Tabs etc. There is also an /dev/ folder located in your app folder, there you can put an custom language strings for app(/dev/lang.php dev docs), custom templates (/dev/html/front/modulekey/filename.phtml step 3 of complete example of a plugin), custom css(/dev/css/), custom email templates(/dev/email), custom js scripts(/dev/js/) and many more.. STEP 4: Creating modules and controllers There are two types of modules, there are admin modules which are modules showed in ACP and there are front modules which are showed on public side of forums. Because of that is just an Hello World app example, i will be showing you only front modules, so let's begin.. Like you can see on app page (yourdomain.com/index.php?app=helloworld), there is showing an error on the font side It's because there is no front module and it can be easily fixed by creating an front module(which is logical), let's create one by clicking "+ Add Module" in Developer Center (STEP 3). There are only two inputs(forms), Module Key and again Protected, so let's set this like that: After putting some strings in inputs, click Save to create an module. Error isn't showing no more, but, there is no content either, there is just 2S100/1 error saying that requested page does not exist, that's because there is no controller created for this module, so let's create one by pressing + button on helloworld module. After doing that, you will see an window where you can put a filename (this is where you will be putting controller code) Let's just call it helloworld and Save it, after doing so you'll need to set it as default controller for this module so when you visit your app on front side, there will be showing default page(default controller for default module) After doing so, if you visit your app page, there will be showing an already build-in blank template Like you can se, there is already pre-configured an language string module__helloworld_helloworld which is an module_modulename_controllername, this can be configured in /dev/ folder(mentioned in step three), so you need to go to your FTP and go to www/applications/helloworld/dev/ and open up lang.php file, there is already something inside and it's language string for app name. <?php $lang = array( '__app_helloworld' => "Hello World" ); All you need to do is add another language string and call it "module__helloworld_helloworld" it will should be like that: <?php $lang = array( '__app_helloworld' => "Hello World", 'module__helloworld_helloworld' => "Hello World" ); save the file and re-upload it to the /dev/ folder, after doing so, refresh page and the title will be already there! but still, there is nothing inside and there is no page title. So, now we will be creating an "Hello world!" inside this page and we will add "Hello World" as page title. Open up your controller file located in yourdomain.com/applications/helloworld/modules/front/modulekey/controller.php there is already something inside it, it's automatically generated by Community Suite <?php namespace IPS\helloworld\modules\front\helloworld; /* To prevent PHP errors (extending class does not exist) revealing path */ if ( !defined( '\IPS\SUITE_UNIQUE_KEY' ) ) { header( ( isset( $_SERVER['SERVER_PROTOCOL'] ) ? $_SERVER['SERVER_PROTOCOL'] : 'HTTP/1.0' ) . ' 403 Forbidden' ); exit; } /** * helloworld */ class _helloworld extends \IPS\Dispatcher\Controller { /** * Execute * * @return void */ public function execute() { parent::execute(); } /** * ... * * @return void */ protected function manage() { // This is the default method if no 'do' parameter is specified } // Create new methods with the same name as the 'do' parameter which should execute it } More information about namespaces and classes can be found here all you need to do is add to function execute() before parent::execute() this code: \IPS\Output::i()->title = "Hello World"; \IPS\Output::i()->output = "Hello World!"; and it will be showing this: but let's put this inside an template, for this, we will be needing an file inside /dev/html/ folder. But not exactly inside /dev/html/ folder, you'll need to create folders for front/admin module, modulekey. So it will be looking like that: /dev/html/front/helloworld/, now you need to create an .phtml file for template. Let's create one and put this inside: <ips:template parameters="" /> <center><b>Hello World!</b></center> now save it and upload to yourapp/dev/html/front/helloworld/ and name it helloworld.phtml. Now all you need to do is change a source a little bit, so instead of this code: \IPS\Output::i()->title = "Hello World"; \IPS\Output::i()->output = "Hello World!"; You will have this code: \IPS\Output::i()->title = "Hello World"; $tmp = \IPS\Theme::i()->getTemplate( 'modulename', 'appkey(Directory Name)', 'front' )->filename(parameters); \IPS\Output::i()->output = $tmp; after saving it you'll see this: Great News! You have just created an basic Hello World app with custom language strings and custom templates! Great work! Cheers.
