  1. I am sure that even those who were not big fans of Sonu Soodâs movies have now become his diehard fans during the lockdown. And why not? The man has been a literal Godsend for those people who have been stranded across the country and have been unable to reach home. From migrant labourers to working women, Sonu Sood has been hard at work in ensuring he can help as many people as he can in getting home safe and sound. However, the recent case in which Sood stepped in to become someoneâs personal superhero has left everyone in awe of him. On Sunday morning, the actor was tagged by a woman in a Tweet with a link to a video, showing an old woman sitting alone at the Bandra station after she had been abandoned by her own son. â@SonuSood sir please have a look at this video of a lady who is thrown out by her son for whom she came from Delhi to Mumbai. PL Sir I'm requesting you drop her somewhere she can be safe, bcoz her son from Delhi doesn't allow her to enter the home,â the Tweet read. https://t.co/zDWB5EDWpd @SonuSood sir please have a look at this video of a lady who is thrown out by her son for whom she came from Delhi to Mumbai. 2. Earlier this week, we saw the Kirana stores getting a huge push with Jio's upcoming JioMart service. It'll be interesting to see how Jio and WhatsApp manage to pull everything together and help out these retail stores. But in the meantime, the government wants to step in and help out the millions of Kirana stores in the country. The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) along with traders body Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) is now inviting applications from Indian startups to help them. These applications are for developing solutions that can help the local shops take online orders and ensure contactless delivery. © Reuters This development is pretty interesting and it comes hot on the heels of the central government allowing e-commerce companies like Amazon and Flipkart to resume normal operations from April 20. That obviously, isn't happening, so we'll see if this application helps out. So, essentially, the DPIIT is looking for e-commerce solutions integrated with messaging platforms, logistics solutions, payment gateway, and everything. We're looking at a one-stop solution for all things online so they can get back up and running. © Reuters If you have a startup of your own or in case you know people who can put this thing together, then you can extend your help by making people aware of this. It's a kickass initiative, and we hope it reaches as many as it can so there's a solution in place at the earliest. Source: Startupindia View the full article

  5. With the COVID-19 quarantine by and large in effect for the foreseeable future now, things will be going haywire. The pressure to work from home and stay productive, the constant bickering of siblings and family members, and the manner in which we feel trapped in our own houses, is surely going to get on our nerves. © iStock It is very easy under such circumstances to panic and actually lose sight of things that are actually important. Taking proper care of yourself is one such thing. Now, you may be washing your hands every now and then, and cleaning your hands with some really good hand sanitizers which ultimately, are actually quite harsh on your skin. We recommend you follow what this dermatologist says about taking care of your hands that have gone dry from constant washing. © iStock But what about your face? How do you take care of your skin when youâre under quarantine, and supposedly safe from all the external factors that normally cause havoc on your skin. Well, when youâre under quarantine, you need a skincare routine even more, simply because you lose track of things at times. Also, do you really want to take risks right now? © iStock Here are six super easy steps that can actually prove to be quite effective and useful for your skin, especially when youâre under quarantine. Inculcate A Sleeping Routine © iStock First and foremost, inculcate a proper sleeping routine and follow it. Since youâll be spending possibly the entire day at home, you may get complacent and do things lazily. Especially on the days when youâre working from home. Instead of staying up late at night, binge-watching your favourite shows, stick to a proper sleeping routine, wherein you get at least eight hours of sleep. Now, thanks to the quarantine, you actually donât have an excuse not to sleep for eight hours or more if needed. Wash Your Face At Least Twice A Day © iStock Given that you have to wash your hands quite a few times throughout the day, it would behove you if you wash your face as well. Wash your face at least twice a day, with a face wash that suits your skin type. Also, go for something that is friendly for the environment and also on your skin, otherwise, you risk drying up your skin, which will make it all itchy and sensitive. Moisturise Thoroughly © iStock Pick a moisturiser that suits your skin, and make sure you actually use it thoroughly. Even though you might think that there is no need to moisturise your face regularly because youâre always indoors anyway, you actually should be moisturising your face, on a regular basis. Given you will have to wash your face regularly, do not skip on moisturising. Avoid Touching Your Face Unnecessarily © iStock Your hands touch all sorts of surfaces and things through the day. God knows what all germs and pathogens they pick up. Health experts, medical professionals and even the WHO suggests keeping your hands away from your face. Unless it is imperative and an unavoidable circumstance, avoid touching your face. If just have to touch your face, to adjust your spectacles, or to itch or something, rub your hands with some hand sanitiser first. Exfoliate At Least Once A Week © iStock This is actually somewhat a leisurely activity, but again, something that you should go for often. Exfoliate your skin using a slightly coarse cleansing agent. We suggest you go for something like multani clay, or some other form of clay. That not only helps your skin in maintaining its pH balance, but also gives it a thorough and deep cleansing. Stay Hydrated © iStock Finally, and this is the most important thing that you can do, keep yourself hydrated properly. Drink at least 2 litres of water every day, even though you may not feel thirsty that often. To take things to the next level, use a face mist, or some micellar water. View the full article
  6. The one thing that skincare brands almost always have claimed to offer is the restoration of the moisture barrier of the skin. But have they been effective over the years in delivering the promise? Well, it really depends on whether you've found the product that works for you. But before we get into the nitty-gritty of it, we need to understand what a moisture barrier stands for. The skin's moisture barrier is exactly what it sounds likeâthe layer of the skin that helps retain moisture. Largely, the skin barrier consists of the epidermis and the hard, outermost layer called stratum corneum. Interestingly, the stratum corneum is a layer that sheds dead skin cells. Now, here's the thing, this layer is super important to the skin as it keeps all the hydration locked inside and protects the skin from all the dirt and the grime. If your skin looks and feels rough, dull, flaky, inflamed, red, and itchy, these are alarming red flags that suggest that your skin barrier is damaged. In fact, not drinking enough water or drinking too much alcohol or caffeine are also factors that lead to damaged skin. Environmental factors, like exposure to the harmful rays of the sun, can also be damaging. Not moisturizing enough can also damage your skin. How can the skin barrier be repaired? Here's how. 1. Hydration © Getty Images Apply products that have ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and lactic acid, which is a humectant, meaning it actually increases the moisture content of the skin. 3. 8. Aside from breakouts, acne scars, and dark spots, another major skin issue that troubles a lot of people is blackheads. Blackheads are deep-seated impurities in our pores that need to be weeded out or they can very easily become visible on the face from a distance. However, manually extracting blackheads can be really painful and sometimes detrimental to the skin. Here's what you can do instead: © Getty Images 1. Exfoliation Is KeyA simple method to get rid of blackheads is to exfoliate your skin. Get a good scrub that is great at weeding out all the grime and impurities from your pores. 2. Use Clay Masks © Getty Images Understand your skin type and use a mask that suits it as it's a highly effective method in extracting deep-seated blackheads. The clay mask is great at tackling blackheads and also helps you get a healthy glowing skin. 3. Get A New Facewash © Getty Images Recurrent blackheads mean that your facewash did not suit you well. Get a new facewash that has properties that help to reduce the dirt and grime from your face. 4. Get Professional HelpInstead of assuming the role of Dr. Pimple Popper, go to a professional who knows what they're doing when it comes to extracting blackheads from your face without damaging it. 5. Get A Hydrating Moisturiser © Getty Images A good moisturiser works wonders in stopping dryness and dead skin cells from clogging. You need to add a good moisturiser to your skincare routine, especially post these steps to make sure that your skin stays hydrated. View the full article
  9. In a country where cricket is considered to be a religion, India equally celebrates its cricketers like demigods. Garnering an unmatched public interest, many cricketers, over the years, including the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli consistently enjoy the limelight. But, while the cricketing icons continue to hog the spotlight, one woman has carved her own niche in the country's beloved sport. For someone who once aspired to be a graphic designer, Myanti Langer has undeniably come a long way to establish herself as one of the most recognisable faces in a sport that continues to be dominated by men. Owing to her unique insights, a great understanding of the game and exceptional analysis, the 34-year-old has managed to create her own fanbase in cricket-crazy India. View this post on InstagramBack in the habit ð #cricketlive #cricketloveA post shared by (@mayantilanger_b) While her ability to analyse the gentleman's game on television has earned her plaudits over the years, Mayanti's 'no-nonsense' approach to set the trolls straight on social media has further struck a chord with cricket fans. For an independent woman who has achieved success and fame on the back of relentless hard work, Mayanti is often targetted for her husband Stuart Binny's brief stint with Team India. Whether her hubby scores a hundred or gets out for a duck, social media trolls just won't let the sports presenter catch a break. Even her normal posts, that has got nothing to do with Stuart, end up garnering baseless comparisons on social media platforms. In the latest case, Mayanti and her husband were once again targeted by a troll who eventually learned a key lesson. "Itâs a rather colourful life in our studio," she tweeted. While many liked her picture in the tweet, a cricket fan posted with a query: "Where is Stuart Binny nowadays???". Where is Stuart Binny nowadays ..??? â Shafqat Yousuf (@shafqaty6) February 4, 2020 In response to the question, another fan joined in and suggested that: "He is helping her in carrying her baggage". While Mayanti generally refrains from engaging with such trolls, she made this one an exception to shut the troll down. I can carry my own baggage thank you very much ?? heâs busy living his life, playing cricket, just being awesome in general, and not passing comments on people he doesnât know ?? â Mayanti Langer Binny (@MayantiLanger_B) February 4, 2020 In what turned out to be a befitting reply, Mayanti didn't just step up for her husband, but eventually managed to shut the troll for good. "I can carry my own baggage thank you very much heâs busy living his life, playing cricket, just being awesome in general, and not passing comments on people he doesnât know," she replied. 10. The goal of every client here in the Invision peer community, myself included, is to launch and run successful communities. Whether I’m going to be able to achieve that success in the new year depends entirely on trying these 10 steps. I know if that if I stick to these steps, then my community will grow – and I know if you follow along, your community will too. 10. Ignore Google Google makes me laugh; Google makes me cry; Google makes me want to pitch myself into the freezing icy waters of the San Francisco bay. But focusing on Google’s up-and-down volatility isn’t what is going to make my community successful. It’s a distraction, and at worst, a wrong commitment of attention. 9. Remember My Past Sins I’ve made every mistake imaginable – including over-the-top themes, too many customizations, and chasing after dream goals. The very worst is not making a database backup, then losing everything. Most of us came up through the School of Hard Knocks, and we should learn from those experiences. 8. Treat Every Person as Gold Members are the beating heart of your community, and are truly what makes your community special. I’m committed to taking time out every day to message, comment, or reply to 3 new people to cultivate new relationships. 7. Practice x3 Nobody is perfect the first time they try something. Thomas Edison famously stated that he found 10,000 ways for a lightbulb to not work, and 1 way that it did. Whether you’re publishing new content or designing a template, refine it multiple times. 6. Start as a Guest I don’t do this enough and I always find something surprising when I do. Either something is missing, something can be improved, or something is wrong. The guest experience is the very first impression a visitor will have, and it can shape all of his future expectations. 5. Less is More It’s easy to get sidetracked and to let your community get bloated with content and features. It’s better to be amazing in one domain expertise: you offer the most authority, the most trusted content, the latest news, or the most comprehensive overview. Excite members by being the best at what you do. De-emphasize, consolidate, or archive everything else as needed. 4. It’s Not the Feature; Its What the Feature Does It’s easy to think that because IPS ships with a new feature, then you should use it. You don’t. You should always pre-qualify the feature by asking how the feature can help you better engage with your community, how does it engage, and how can you customize the feature even better for your members? 3. Bring Your Superusers Along Even though I invite my superusers into a special private feedback group, I don’t leverage their knowledge, experience, or perspective enough. I recently asked for feedback about a particular feature, and it turns out none of them use it! 2. Experiment & Learn There’s always something new to learn, explore, and implement. It's my personal goal to enrich my personal skillsets in areas like leadership, team building, mentoring, emotional intelligence, organizational behavior, and psychology for more effective community management. On the promotion side, you can learn about email marketing, digital marketing, social media, creating rich media, and more. On the content side, you can always improve your content writing skills, emotive writing, keyword research, and the multiple use of one piece in different formats. 1. Enjoy the Journey For any community admin who sticks with his community for several years, you can get burned out. I know the feeling, and I like to periodically remind myself about what I enjoy running the community. There’s so much to learn and do that it can feel overwhelming, so it’s important to take every day in 2020 one day at a time.
  11. Photo: FileKARACHI: Global credit rating agency Fitch Ratings on Monday affirmed Pakistan’s long term foreign currency rating at B- with a stable outlook, saying the country has taken positive steps on fiscal front as well as measures to strengthen external finance, reported The News. “Progress is being made towards strengthening external finances and positive steps have been made on the fiscal front, but considerable risks remain,” the New York-based rating agency said. Fitch said external vulnerabilities have been reduced over the past year as a result of policy actions and financing unlocked through an International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme, which have narrowed the current account deficit and supported a modest rebuilding of reserves. Also read: Huawei says 'survival' top priority as sales fall short “Still, external finances remain fragile with relatively low foreign-exchange reserves in the context of an elevated external debt repayment schedule and subdued export performance,” it noted. The IMF’s Extended Fund Facility is on track, with the first review completed in December. However, implementation risks remain high in Fitch’s view, particularly given the politically challenging nature of the authorities’ reform agenda. Fitch forecasts a further narrowing of the current account deficit to 2.1 per cent of GDP in the year ending June 2020 (FY20) and 1.9 per cent in FY21, from 4.9 per cent in the last fiscal year. Also read: IMF bailout to negatively impact Pakistan's short-run growth: Fitch It held import compression as the driver narrowing deficit, facilitated by rupee depreciation of around 30 per cent since December 2017 and tighter monetary conditions. Exports were forecast to grow modestly from a low base. The State Bank of Pakistan's (SBP) adoption of a more flexible exchange rate last May and capital inflows were also supporting a rebuilding of foreign-exchange reserves. Fitch expects gross liquid foreign-exchange reserves to rise to around $11.5 billion by FYE20, from $7.2 billion at FYE19. “We expect continued adherence to the new exchange rate regime to help rebuild foreign-exchange reserves and improve external resilience,” Fitch said. “Public finances are a key credit weakness and deteriorated further in FY19 prior to the approval of the IMF programme,” it noted. Also read: Pakistan budget deficit projected to increase to 6% in 2019: Fitch The agency said gross external financing needs of the country would likely remain high, in the mid-$20 billion range, over the medium-term due to considerable debt repayments and despite smaller current account deficit. Fitch said government debt rose to 84.8 per cent of GDP, well above the current ‘B’ median of 54 per cent, due to currency depreciation. Debt/revenue also jumped sharply to 667 per cent, compared with the historic ‘B’ median of 252 per cent. The government was consolidating public finances, but Fitch believes progress would be challenging due to the relatively high reliance on revenues to achieve the planned adjustment.
  12. In yet another case of animal brutality in the capital, a street dog was tied up and beaten to death by some people from a popular locality. This isn't an isolated incident of street dog torture and murder and while we condemn any form of brutality, why do we fall short of doing the same for an animal? Especially for street dogs in India. © Instagram While Australia is battling with saving their own animal species in wildfires, India is a notch ahead, killing animals without much remorse. A street dog (female), whose legs were tied together, was found badly injured, with a cracked skull, after she was beaten up by the locals of Masigarh, Sukhdev Vihar - a posh locality in South Delhi. Although no one has been identified behind the crime committed, it is believed a group of people were behind this and the only reason they beat her to death was because she was biting a few residents there. The dog, left to die, was then spotted by an animal lover, who called others from the fraternity for help. While she was taken to Friendicoes, the capital's leading dog shelter, another volunteer stayed back to round up some formalities with the police. While at Friendicoes, the dog was diagnosed with a broken skull and multiple fractures on her snout. Unfortunately, she didn't survive and passed away a few days ago. This incident alone is very unfortunate and we definitely believe the perpetrators need to be punished. But what is the punishment for animal abuse, torture and murder? Because we don't have stricter laws for animal abuse, most of us are unaware of a fulfilling and rightful punishment for the accused. © Instagram Currently a complaint under Section 11(1) of the PCA and Sections 428 and 429 of IPC against unknown accused persons who beat the dog, has been filed. The section states that anyone who tortures an animal in any way or kills them shall be liable to imprisonment and fined as well. "We took the dog to tis hazari hospital where the doctor Rekha Kumari, informed us that she had no jurisdiction and was the duty doctor for that day. After speaking with several authorities and waiting for 3 hours with the body of the dog, the doctor informed the IO that there were no instruments to do the post mortem and it's the IOs responsibility to get the instruments to cut the dog's body" said Gauri Puri, a lawyer by profession and an animal rights activist, in an interview with MensXP As it is, Delhi Police has been facing a lot of wrath from the capital for their inactions towards particular incidents that occurred around the city, and in this case too, they failed to mitigate the dire situation. View this post on Instagram A dog was tied and beaten nearly to death in the morning at Masihgarh, Sukhdev Vihar. The dogs leg was tied and repeated beaten by an iron rod till her skull cracked. She was spotted by an animal lover who immediately called me and Gauri. I took her to Friendicoes whereas Gauri stayed back to do the necessary formalities with the cops. The poor dog has a broken skull, multiple fractures on her snout and her prognosis is poor. We have shifted her to Earthlings for personalized care. All the necessary steps for identifying the culprit and filing a FIR are being taken. While there is hope with the FIR, in the absence of any efforts to investigate the culprits or inquire who the accused were, the police has been taking statements of people allegedly bitten by the dog. This cruel act was admittedly done by the local residents of Masigarh, all of whom are known to be goons. Each one claims to have knowledge of how the incident happened , but with the lack of action of police, no name has been forthcoming" - Gauri added. There are a lot of incidents pertaining to animal torture that go by without the perpetrators paying for their heinous crimes. Remember Lucky? the Worli based street dog, who was beaten to death when he came to a gated colony to take refuge from rain? He died, and with him died the struggle to nab the culprits and put them behind bars. #SaveLucky We spoke with #IramRizvi who along with her friends is trying to #SaveLucky the #WorliDog Let's pray to #SaveLucky Let's have your suggestions also. .@MumbaiDog .@MumbaiMirror .@MirrorNow .@DeShobhaa .@Sonam_Kapoor .@AnushkaSharma .@TheJohnAbraham @fayedsouza pic.twitter.com/WZXjDxJwQV — jeeturaaj rj (@MirchiJeeturaaj) July 30, 2019 So, at any given point in time, if you see animal torture in any form around you, this is what you can do! (1) If you see someone hurt/torture/abuse an animal, the first thing you should do is confront them an ask them to stop. If you think that's not a safe option, try and gather a crowd and humiliate them for doing what they are. (2) Write to an active animal welfare group on social media, with adequate evidence of the abuse in the form of pictures and videos. Do this to garner as much support as you can. (3) Call the police and make sure the complaint is under Section 11 of the Prevention to cruelty to animals and section 428 and 429 of the Indian Penal code. Read up on these sections and do your research beforehand. Make sure your complaint is registered under all three sections. Many times complaint is only under Section 11 of the PCA, where the punishment is nothing. © Instagram (4) Legally file a complaint and take a DD No. Make sure to take a copy of it. It's the complainant's right (5) Follow up with the Investigating Officer. Give a letter for reservations of CCTVs, as that can at as a vital proof of the incident. (6) Give the animal first aid ASAP. MLC (medico legal complaint) of the dog can be done afterward also (7) If the animal dies, and there is a complaint, it's the IOs responsibility to preserve the body, get the PM and dispose the body. While you follow these legalities, make sure to reach out to prominent people who can help you with such cases, legally an otherwise. While the investigations are still ongoing for this dog who succumbed to her injuries, we only hope we can prevent animal torture of this degree in the future and make a safe haven for all living creatures, around us. 13. Ah, the National Cricket Academy (NCA), the place which was supposed to be a gold mine of world-class cricketers who'd help India dominate international cricket for decades to come. Located in Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium, the NCA was the brainchild of the former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, Raj Singh Dungarpur and was established in the year 2000. The BCCI signed massive contracts with other cricketing boards such as Cricket Australia and the England and Wales Cricket Board to bring some of the best coaches and staff members onboard with the hopes of realising Dungarpur's dreams. But ever since its inception, the NCA has been looked at as nothing more than a rehabilitation centre for national players. With time, the Academy's image plummeted even further as cases of corruption began to surface. The latest hit that the institution's reputation took was when these so called “best doctors” in the business failed to diagnose Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar's sports hernia and cleared him to play. Bhuvneshwar Kumar's injury puts a question mark over specialists team at NCA Bhuvneshwar Kumar was recently diagnosed with a hernia in Mumbai after he complained of discomfort post the two T20Is against West Indies. Injured cricketers like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah have said "no" to seek medical attention at the NCA and preferred spending lakhs more to get treatment in London. Well, that was until Sourav Ganguly became the new BCCI President. After Ganguly traveled to Bengaluru to have a discussion with Dravid in October, the power-duo has finally decided to team up once again and revive the NCA and make it the treasure chest it was always supposed to be. They have also decided to hire a social media expert to bring forward constant update on the on-goings inside the facility. Data analyst, another role that has become more and more important with the evolution of the sport, will also be appointed to keep a check on the cricketers' progress. They have also decided to hire a fast bowling coach who will be entrusted with the inception of a fast bowling program. A nutrition expert will also be brought onboard for forming personalised diet plans for the athletes under training. Ganguly and Dravid have expressed their hopes of revamping the NCA within the next 18 months. While things like introducing a medical panel and the inclusion of technology and opening a new Instagram account for the NCA don't sound like revolutionising ideas right now, they will continue to work in favour of the improvement of its reputation and bring about greater transparency in what goes on behind the closed walls of Chinnaswamy Stadium. This step is quite helpful and your beard will feel fresh. © iStock 2. Keep It Soft & Clean If your beard is not clean, it will hinder in the process of trimming. Keep it clean by washing it with a beard shampoo and do it with cold water. Beard shampoo is designed for your facial hair and it's best to have it in your grooming kit. Post this step, condition it, as it will soften your beard and let you have a smooth trimming experience. © iStock 3. Brush Your Beard Once your beard is dry, use a comb and do it against the grain. This will make it easier for you trim your beard and you will be able to chop any inconsistency that you will notice in your beard. © iStock 4. Trimming When you start trimming your beard, maintain a preferred length with the help of clippers. The technique requires you to have a little long hair on the chin and shorter on the sides of your face. Keep in mind that you need to have number 3 setting for the temples and 4 to 5 near the goatee area. Remember that your moustache will be denser and hence it should be kept short as compared to your temples and cheeks. © iStock 5. Moustache Tricks Once you have trimmed down your beard, try running the clippers across your face and check if any hair follicle is getting stuck near your nostrils. If yes, a pair of beard or moustache scissors will be a great option for that. Chop the edgy areas and take a judgement call on how short you want your moustache to be. © iStock 6. Finish It With Oil Just like your scalp needs oiling, so does your beard. It needs moisture and you can finish off the whole process of trimming with it. Apply beard oil as it keeps your beard hydrated and will make it look healthy. Then, brush it up as it will distribute the oil evenly on your beard. This will also help you get rid of strays that get stuck in your beard during the process. Try it out. © iStock View the full article
  15. Whatever shape your beard has at the moment, beard neckline cannot be ignored. Having hair on the neckline can look a tad bit unkempt. It is important to give it a shape and for that, you need trimming advice to do it just the right way. Finding your beard neckline can be tricky and if you have been confused for a while about where to begin and how to give it a shape, we are here to tell you that it is super easy! 1. Method 1 Locate your Adam's apple and keep your two fingers above. The top point of your fingers is approximately where the neckline will be. © Istock 2. Method 2 Here's an easier method. Just tilt your head down. The crease where your jaw meets the neck, keep your fingers there. Now, straighten your head. This is the second method to find your neckline. Now that you have finally found a good neckline, you will need the right tools and technique to do the job right. © Istock 1. Using A Beard Trimmer Trimmers are easy to hold and the blades work just fine for beard neckline. You don't need to put a lot of pressure on it and it does its job quite easily. The only thing you need to remember is that you shouldn't trim high. It can make your face look big and won't match well with your beard. Keep your chin high and use the identifying method. Stretch the skin that's under your chin and then start trimming. Don't let your skin bunch up or you could end up hurting yourself. © Istock 2. Setting The Length Remember that you should keep the length of your neckline, shorter than your beard. Make sure you set the trimmer's settings accordingly and then start putting pressure gently with your trimmer. © Istock 3. Following Your Beard Neckline Once you have identified your neckline, you can follow another technique where you will need to visualise. The slightly curved line that goes from your ear lobes to under your jawline will give a good definition. This imaginary line will be near the top of your Adam's apple and it will form a U shape. The trick is to trim everything below this imaginary line. Try it out. © Istock 4. Beard Shaper A beard shaper is a tool that helps in trimming your neckline. This one ensures that the shaving lines are symmetrical. Furthermore, it helps in defining your neckline. All you need to do is use it with the contour of your neck and keep it on the curved side. Hold it along with your neckline, Now, shave the areas above or below this tool. © Istock 5. After Care Once you have trimmed your neckline, it is ideal to take care of your beard's health. The pores will be open once you have trimmed. In such cases, first, wash your face with cold water and then use an alcohol-free aftershave. Make sure you also clean your beard with a beard wash or shampoo. Don't forget to moisturise it with a beard oil as this step will hydrate the beard and the skin below it. © Istock View the full article

  19. Oily skin can come across as something that's hateful, especially for men, who naturally have an oily texture. But, tbh, oily skin is just over production of oil glands called 'sebum' which means higher visibility of shine on your face. Yes, it can lead to acne, but this skin type is less prone to wrinkles and premature ageing. Strike that balance in your skin and still have a youthful mug with our 5 steps grooming guide to combat oily skin. 1. Stick To A Face Wash Made For Your Skin Type © Getty Images Every face wash available in the market has its own pros and cons. Since you have an oily texture, a gentle face wash that prevents acne burst out and oil build up should be added to your grooming arsenal, stat. Use it twice a day for best results. 2. Exfoliation Is Important © Getty Images A face wash has an ability to remove the oil and grime, but an exfoliator or scrub goes deeper. Take this remedy into consideration as it's a well known therapy for acne prone skin and controls further damage. Use a natural scrub every alternate day. Check where the oil gets accumulated and gently massage your face with it. 3. Use A Toner © Getty Images A toner is not gender biased and is equally important for men as well. And, believe us, it's about to be your favourite grooming mate. So, how does it work? It minimises your pores and also steers clear of inflammation. It's a refresher for your skin that cuts back the excess secretion of oil. Apply a toner after washing your face, followed by a moisturiser. 4. Home Remedy Using Buttermilk © Getty Images Some home remedies can do wonders for your oily skin. Dip a cotton ball in buttermilk and massage your face with it, at least three times a week. Leave it on for a few minutes. The acid present in the buttermilk is an ideal cleanser to tighten your pores. 5. Moisturisation © Getty Images Firstly, oil and hydration are two different things. Not using a moisturiser only means your surface will dry up, leading to acne. Instead, use an oil-free moisturiser that minimises extra oil production and shields your skin against pollutants. One last tip, don't overdo any of the steps mentioned above. A hyper-intense regimen will throw everything out of place and leave you with worsened skin. Remember to keep it simple and gentle!
  20. Having a six-pack is something that every guy aspires when it comes to having a good physique. If you are reading this article, it is highly possible that even you have searched something like this on the internet: 'How to lose belly fat?' 'How to get six-pack abs?' 'Easy way to build six-pack abs?' The search results that you may have gotten would be of fat burning drinks or fat loss exercises or belly fat burning techniques. Like everyone, you do those things and the end result is... nothing! © Getty Images It is high time you get it into your brain that there is no magical fix that can help you get a six-pack in a week. It needs hard work and dedication. Start with these basic steps: 1. Go On A Diet Everyone has abs, as it is the part of human physiology. The only reason people are not able to see their abs are for two reasons: a. They have a lot of body fat covering it b. They do not have developed abdominal muscles Let's cover the first part here. The reality is that you need to be on a diet to bring your body fat percentage down. At the same time, you would want to preserve the muscle mass you already have. To calculate the number of calories you need to eat for fat loss, simply multiply your body weight in pounds with 13. To preserve your muscle, have one gram of protein per pound of your body weight. If you weigh 160 lbs., this would mean: a. Calories = 160x13 = ~2100 calories b. Protein = 160 grams 2. Do Weight Training You need to lift weights to hold on to your muscle when you lose fat. © Getty Images Make sure that you are doing compound exercises aka exercises that engage your core, and are moving more than one muscle group at a time so that you build your core. You can also include direct ab training with and without abs to build them further ahead. 3. Lose Around 0.5 To 1% Of Your Body Weight Every Week You will definitely get started on a diet once you plug in those numbers from step #1 and start losing weight. Then, there will be two questions: a. How much weight to lose? b. How fast to lose it? To reveal a six-pack, you need to have around 10 to 12% body fat. So, until you reach that number, you will have to dig deep. To find your body fat number, you can use a lot of tools like online calculators or Inbody machines. Ideally, you should be losing around 0.5 to 1% of your body weight every week. If things are faster than this, you could eat some extra calories. If you are comfortable with it, you can pick up the pace a bit. If things have slowed down, you can either calculate the numbers again on your new body weight or you can simply drop 100-150 calories and things should pick up. So, go do the work and follow a plan instead of finding the next quick-fix for six-pack abs. 21. Do you keep missing gym sessions due to lack of motivation? Do you find lame excuses to destroy your diet and screw your own fitness progress? Here, I am going to talk a little bit about human psychology and how you can kick the crutches of motivation and actually achieve the results you are looking for. Motivation is of two kinds: 1. Extrinsic Motivation - Motivation to act in a certain way due to external rewards such as money, fame, marks, and praise. E.g. – Losing fat so you can impress the girl that you like. 2. Intrinsic Motivation - Motivation to act in a certain way due to internal reasons. E.g. – Losing fat because you want to be fit and live longer. © Getty Images If you're losing fat because someone else wants it, you will lose motivation and go off-track soon. Apparently, our goal should be to shift our focus from Extrinsic Motivation to Intrinsic Motivation over time. This will give meaning to your goal! Okay, you get it now. But how to keep that motivation up, throughout? Let me tell you – even the topmost athletes lose motivation to stick to their Nutrition & Workout Plan sometimes. They're humans too. So what keeps them on the track? These things: 1. Structured Nutrition & Workout Plans: If you have a structured Nutrition & Workout plan outlined and customized according to your lifestyle, the chances of you going off-track reduce 10x. Do you know why? Because you look forward to the exercises and meals planned for the day. This makes you stick to the plan. 2. Meal Preparation For The Week: In continuation of the previous point, the preparation of the majority of the meals of the week will make you stick to the routine and minimize decision fatigue. © Getty Images 3. Fitness As A Lifestyle: Make fitness, your workouts and eating accordingly, a part of your lifestyle. All of this should never be a burden to you. Instead, all of this should add meaning to your life. 4. Flexible & Realistic Plans: If your plans are flexible, realistic and don't require you to eat salads all day, the chances of you to stick to your routine and keeping the motivated increase to a new level. You should indulge in your favourite foods moderately, whenever you want to. Summary – Stop waiting for Motivation to come and kiss your feet. Instead, create a routine that you can stick to and be disciplined. 22. The big pop-culture weekend is here where many of your beloved characters will die either in 'Avengers: Endgame' or 'Game Of Thrones' Season 8. However, Endgame is already out in the U.S. and a flurry of spoilers are on their way on social media and even websites. The movie has also been leaked prior to its opening weekend and is already available to download illegally. Not everyone gets a chance to buy tickets on time especially since over 1 million people have already pre-booked tickets in India. In all honesty, there aren't enough shows to accommodate every Marvel fan and it is obvious that some people will be late to watch the movie. In order to avoid spoilers, you either need to go off the grid or stay away from your friends who like to spoil movies. Having said that, you really don't need to go turn off your internet to avoid spoilers; there are a few ways to avoid them. Here's our guide on how to avoid 'Avengers: Endgame' spoilers on the internet. Use Extensions © MensXP Chrome extensions are a gift for people who want to go into movies and TV shows completely blind and avoid every spoiler they can. I've enabled a few to avoid any Star Wars spoilers and you can do the same for your beloved franchise. You can install Unspoiler or Spoiler Protection 2.0 in Chrome extensions that basically blocks websites, articles on the basis of your keywords. You can simply feed in keywords like “Avengers”, “Endgame”, “Game Of Thrones”. “GOT”, “Season 8”, “Iron Man” and whatever else comes to mind. © MensXP If you are always on social media, you can install extensions like Social Fixer which is also available for every major browser. This extension will basically block all the posts about Endgame from your feed, even from your friends. You will need to feed in keywords for this to work but it works like a charm. For YouTube, we suggest you use an extension that lets you block videos based on keywords and titles of the video. There are plenty of extensions available to use; however, we recommend Video Blocker as the most reliable option. While these only work on laptops and web browsers, there's no proper fix for mobile phone browsers. Having said that, you can follow a few steps for mobile apps that will basically help in reducing spoiler exposure. You need to mute a few keywords on Facebook and Twitter in order for this to work on smartphones. Mobile Phones © MensXP Most spoilers come from social media and there is a way to get around that. Both Facebook and Twitter have muting features that basically makes our job easier. On Twitter, you need to go to Settings and Privacy > Muted Words> Click Add. Now you can add all the keywords you fancy to avoid spoilers on your social media feed. You will need to add these keywords once and Twitter will handle the rest. In order to be even more secure, we suggest you even add misspelt words so that it doesn't show up in your feed. The Facebook app has something similar called Keyword Snooze but it doesn't work as effectively as Twitter. So we suggest you stay off your Facebook or your smartphone altogether until you watch the movie.
  23. Virat Kohli is a name that doesn't really need an introduction, as he is the most popular cricketer that India has seen since the legend Sachin Tendulkar. Kohli is someone who is always seen leading the Indian team from the front, be it with the bat or on the field. But what really sets him apart is not just his cricketing skills, but his fitness too. © Reuters When it comes to fitness, the Indian captain just keeps on raising the bar and has become the fitness icon of India when it comes to sportsmen, as no other Indian athlete can match his fitness levels at present. In fact, I am also sure that his chiselled and amazing body is something that a lot of people are striving to get for themselves. In this article, I am going about how you can build a sportsman-like physique just like Virat Kohli: 1. Dietary Control In a recent interview, Virat himself said that he hasn't tasted 'butter naan' and 'butter chicken' in the last 5 years which used to be his favourite dish. This not only shows his immense discipline towards his diet but also tells you that he stays away from any kind of junk foods at all. You can't expect your body to look and respond like a sportsman if you're going to feed it junk food every now and then. Your diet should be as nutritious as possible. Avoid eating highly processed and less nutritious food all the time. 2. Increase Your Protein Intake The combination of the chiselled physique with explosive energy is impossible to achieve without a good amount of protein in your diet. Your body needs to have muscles to look muscular. Protein is the building block for muscles, thus it is very important that you include enough protein in your diet on a daily basis. Having 1.5 grams protein per Kg of body weight is a good place to start with and thereafter you can increase it according to your own individual needs. 3. Combination Of Resistance And Agility Training If you look at Virat's physique carefully, you will realize that he doesn't have too much of muscle mass. He is not bulky like a bodybuilder but yes, he has muscles. © Reuters To build muscles, you need to train with weights. When your muscles are subjected to resistance training regularly, your body tries to build new muscle fibres. Also, sport-specific performance like Kohli's will need regular agility training as well. You could choose from various forms of agility drills like ladder drills, cone drills or medicine balls. Working out at least 5 to 6 days in a week with a combination of resistance training and agility training will be best suited for a body like Virat's. 4. Consistency Virat didn't become Virat overnight. It took him years and years of hard work, dedication and discipline to become what he is today. You have to keep this in mind when you make a target to be like him. There will be temptation around you for skipping your workouts or to cheat on your meals, but you have you show your commitment towards your goals. This is what differentiates an achiever from a loser. Just do the hard work, be patient and you will see the results coming your way. 24. Ronaldo has the best physique among his counterparts in the sport and is one of the best athletes in the world. His day begins with a team practice session that lasts for about 3-4 hours, which includes football drills, HIIT drills, sprinting and weight training exercises. Ronaldo trains in the gym for 4 days/week. His lifting routine primarily focuses on enhancing strength, speed and a little bit of hypertrophy. This type of training is extremely beneficial for athletes. © Reuters Here are six tips that can help you in getting a body similar to that of the Juventus star: 1) Focus On Nutrition: For your body to look jacked, you need to get rid of excess body fat. To get rid of it, get into a state of calorie deficit. A calorie deficit is when you consume fewer calories than is required to maintain your current body weight. Lower body fat is required to showcase your muscles. For most guys, this is 7 to 10% body fat. © Unsplash 2) Pick A Sport: Sports can really help you to in staying active. Pick any sport whichever you like and enjoy it 2-3 times per week. 3) Lift Weights: Weight training is the base to look jacked like Ronaldo. Weight training has various benefits like improving your concentration, building muscle, burning fat, improved *** life, less risk of injury, etc. Hit the gym 3-4 days in a week and be consistent with it. Incorporate compound movements and isolation movements. Learn the motor-skill pattern to build your core strength. © Unsplash Full body movements like the squat, the bench press, the deadlift or the overhead press engage and train your core. Implement big movements properly in your training plan so that you can lift heavy overtime and gain a good amount of muscle. 4) Cardio- Doing some cardio will not hurt your gains if you take care of your nutrition. Cardio can help you to condition your physique, however, cardio can also be a problem if you do too much of it. You can do any form of cardio like HIIT (high-intensity interval training) or LISS (low-intensity steady state). 5) Sleep- Your body will never show signs of improvement if your sleep pattern is not on point. What do I mean by this? You need to get at least 6-7 hours of deep sleep. A good range is 7-8+ hrs for better recovery outcomes. Some might require more than 8 due to their genetics and stress. If you are not able to get at least 6 hours then you might face sleep deprival effects. 6) Supplements- Supplements can really help you fill the gaps. You don't have to take a ton of it and especially not bullshit ones like BCAAs, fat burners, testosterone booster, etc. In fact, I would suggest you take the effective ones like: 1) Whey Protein- Whey protein is more of a convenience food which can help you to fulfil your protein gap. Mostly required by vegetarians and vegans who find difficult to complete their protein intake per day. © Reuters 2) Creatine- Creatine can help you to look fuller overall. It also helps you to increase strength and lean body mass. 3-5g/day intake is sufficient. 3) Caffeine- Caffeine is a stimulant which can help you boost your mood before any intensive work. It boosts your performance in the gym and helps you do more work in a short time. A couple of shots of black coffee will do the magic. To achieve Ronaldo's physique you have to be consistent, disciplined and dedicated. Author Bio: Yashovardhan Singh is an online fitness coach with www.getsetgo.fitness, an online fitness platform.
