  1. Ever since the Indian cricket team started out with their ICC World Cup 2019 journey against Team South Africa on 5th June 2019, the development on the controversy revolving around former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his wicket keeping gloves has been escalating thanks to the International Cricket Council (ICC). On Wednesday, when the 2011 World Cup champion marched into the field during the Proteas' batting, the Indian fans of the game noticed something special about Dhoni's gloves. As a way of silently honouring the brave soldiers of the nation, Mahi had the Indian Para Special Forces' 'Balidaan' insignia engraved on them and showed their support towards the cricketer's gesture. This man shows his love for the nation and army. However, this gesture did not sit well with the apex organisation of international cricket, the ICC who ordered the Board of Control for Cricket in India or the BCCI to remove the insignia from the wicket keeper's gloves. “We have requested the BCCI to get it removed,” Claire Furlong, the ICC General Manager, strategic communications was quoted as saying by the Times of India. According to the ICC regulations, “The ICC equipment and clothing regulations do not permit the display of messages that relate to political, religious or racial activities or causes during an international match.” Ironically the 'Balidaan' symbol on the gloves does not violate either of the three criteria. MS Dhoni, who is not only holds an honorary rank of lieutenant colonel with the regiment but has also been a part of a two-week training regimen and completed a para jump in 2015. He has time and again shown his regard for the Indian Defence and loved them dearly. © defencelover So when the time came for the Army personnel to show their support for Dhoni's cause, they did not hold back. “We've not crossed the ICC's lines anywhere. The 'Balidaan Badge' doesn't disrespect anyone. Let BCCI take up the case, let's not be bullied by the ICC” Col. Dinesh Nain (Retd.), Defence Expert said in an interview with Republic. “This is neither political or religious. MS Dhoni is actually Lt. Col MS Dhoni. Dhoni's wearing an insignia that is part of his regiment,” Major Gaurav Arya (Retd.), Consulting Editor, Strategic Affairs says. “Asking MS Dhoni to remove the 'Balidaan Badge' will offend Indian soldiers," said Major General GD Bakshi. If there was an entity that had the right to make legitimate objection to Dhoni sporting the 'Balidaan' insignia, it is the Indian National Army, not the ICC, not the Indian cricket board but national heroes who spend the prime of their life protecting us at the borders. Clearly, asking Dhoni to remove the symbol will do nothing other than disrespecting our jawans and the BCCI must take a stand against ICC.
  2. The world's largest exercise in democracy, the Indian Lok Sabha election is also, in a lot of ways, the desi 'Game of Thrones' (minus the dragons and the white walkers, of course). There's violence, there's dirty politics, there's triumph, and then there's the inevitable heartbreak of defeat. One particular independent candidate, from Punjab, became the national face of such misfortune this year, when he broke down in tears in front of cameras during vote counting on Thursday. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Chacha Chatra™ (@chachachatra) on May 22, 2019 at 11:20pm PDT A video of Neetu Shutteran Wala, an independent candidate from the Jalandhar constituency, drew the internet's sympathy as his emotional breakdown went viral. A sobbing Neetu told local television channels that he had received only five votes, which was especially painful, when nine people from his own family had also voted. © Google Election Analysis Turns out, that wrong information was supplied to him in the heat of the moment, and he eventually ended up with many more than nine – precisely 856, votes. His elder brother Vimal Kumar told MensXP that Neetu was repeatedly trying to access the polling booth on Thursday, but was shooed away by the security personnel, saying that he had received just five votes. This led to him having a meltdown. “He has complete support from the family,” Kumar tells us, “and everyone, including our uncles and the extended family, has voted for him.” Neetu, as suggested by his titular suffix, owns a workshop that manufactures shutters and grills for shops. His election affidavit states that he is illiterate and hasn't had the privilege to an education According to his brother, Neetu has been a godfather to many poor and helpless people of Jalandhar, who have found themselves treated unfairly by the authorities. “Everyone in the city knows my brother very well. His agenda in the election was to fight against corruption, if elected, and to continue helping the poor. He also wanted to champion the cause of generating more employment along with developing Jalandhar and working for the common man,” said Kumar. On Friday, the morning after the final results were announced, Neetu failed to show up at his shop. He's obviously been low since last evening, and has not been able to accept the turn of events from the previous day, says Kumar. “I tried to console him but he'll take his own time. It's all a part and parcel of the game”. When asked about Neetu's political aspirations, Kumar told us that his brother will contest in the next Vidhan Sabha polls. And why not; he definitely has more support than he did 24 hours back. You go Neetu!
  3. Love can bring some of the biggest joys to one's life and Arjun Rampal's recent declaration is proof of that. We have all been aware of the fact that post Arjun's separation from his wife of 20 years, former Miss India Mehr Jesia last year, rumour mills worked overtime broadcasting that there was another lady in the actor's life. 4. Last year, Irrfan Khan shared some really terrible news with everyone on Twitter, the news of him being diagnosed with Neuro-Endocrine tumor, which came as a shock to him, us, the entire country. Now, it's been a year and one month and we finally got some good news - he's healthy and he's back! Ever since everyone knew about him battling such a serious illness, he's received nothing but love and support from people and he's extremely grateful for that and he said that even “soothed him in his process of healing.” Sharing a heartfelt and emotional message on his Twitter, he thanked everyone and announced he's back. pic.twitter.com/d4Osol3NvP — Irrfan (@irrfank) April 3, 2019 Well, it's great to have you back! In this entire year, he's opened up about his journey only a couple of times and it's great because he got his privacy and space while receiving treatment and healing. But, now he's back in India and people couldn't be happier that he's here. Welcome! Missed you! Welcome! ♥ï¸ https://t.co/U2kS7Uevpm — Bhuvan Bam (@Bhuvan_Bam) April 3, 2019 It will be soon. 5. The Russo Brothers have too much power right now. I know it, you know it, and they for sure know it and they also know how to use that much power for trolling. We are all desperately waiting for the release of 'Avengers: Endgame' - just 26 days to go, yay! - and they're taking advantage of that. A few months ago, they changed their profile picture on Twitter to a meme that came out of a picture of Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman laughing at Ryan Reynolds. @Russo_Brothers UM ACTUALLY WHAT THE F*CK ARE YOU DOING pic.twitter.com/ibZBakt8PV — ðµððâ¡ | #TWOOFUS (@L0umykryptonite) December 26, 2018 Now, they have a new profile picture on Instagram and it's basically in support of one of the biggest running gag theory since 'Avengers: Infinity War'. There was one cursed post after 'Infinity War' that launched a theory that never died down - why didn't Ant-Man just go up Thanos' butt and transform back into his normal size? That would for sure have destroyed the giant purple grape! Yes, it's stupid and we don't want to see Paul Rudd like that, but if it's stupid and it still works, it's not stupid anymore. Paul would understand and take one for the team. Yep, this looks like a joke, but it's for real. This theory/joke picked up the pace again recently and basically became a Marvel meme with 'Endgame' so close and the Russo Brothers saw the chance and they fucking took it. There's another reason why fans believe that this might come true for real. Disclaimer, a 'Captain Marvel' spoiler ahead. So, remember how everyone was joking that 'what if Nick Fury lost his eye because of the cat?' when the trailer of 'Captain Marvel' came out? And, we all know it turned out to be true. Just like that, people are joking about Ant-Man going up Thanos' butt and what if it's actually true? What if the Russo Brothers are just overcompensating right now to not give out any spoilers? Whatever the case is, this is some good comic relief right now because we know we're losing some major characters for real this time. I wish I could say this was photoshopped but the Russo brothers really did that pic.twitter.com/U7zW1fYznN — mila | loki â¡ (@voiidmarvel) March 29, 2019 Yes, they see everything. the russo brothers seeing all the memes about ant-man crawling up thanos' asshole pic.twitter.com/GYfZBi9e7o — juliah (@spideystights) March 29, 2019 No, you can't unsee Scott stepping up. me @ the russo brother's ig profile picture pic.twitter.com/EbiGYYNdHw — rey ð«(@incorrectmarvel) March 29, 2019 It really is. 6. Apple launched the new lineup of iPad without much flair with the new iPad Air and iPad mini and have launched them right before its event next week. Usually, Apple announces new hardware at an event; however, the company probably wants to focus on other things at the event. © Apple The new iPad Air comes with a 10.5-inch display starting at Rs 44,900 (Wi-Fi) and Rs 55,900 (Wi-Fi + Cellular) while the iPad mini is now priced at 34,900 (Cellular) and Rs 45,900 (Wi-Fi + Cellular). The new iPad mini will probably showcase at the event by Apple as an entertainment device which will be popular amongst college students and movie enthusiasts. © Apple The new iPads are powered by the same processor as the iPhone XS i.e. the A12 Bionic chipset and also has support for the older Apple Pencil. The new tablets have wider bezels than the iPad Pro variant and have a lightning port instead of USB-C. The iPad Air is lighter than the iPad Pro but has the same specifications as the iPad mini except for the display size. © Apple Both tablets are available for orders in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the UAE, UK, US as well as China (Wi-Fi models only), Macau (Wi-Fi models only) and Mexico with deliveries starting next week. The new iPads will launch in India in the next phase soon after. Apple probably didn't want to mix its software and hardware announcements and decided to launch it simply via a Tweet and press release. Last year, Apple announced the new iPad Pro at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
  7. After losing the 2-match T20I series in a rather disappointing fashion, Indian cricket fans saw a ray of hope when the Men in Blue went on a great run, winning the first two ODIs in the five-match series, with Indian batsmen--including Virat Kohli, Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni playing some brilliant innings. However, after losing the Ranchi ODI by 32 runs, all eyes were on Kohli's men giving their best in order to come out victorious in Mohali, winning the series with the Delhi game still in hand. After scoring a massive total of 358, the win looked almost certain, all we had to do was bowl the 50 overs as there was no way the Aussie were going to chase such a score. Who knew Aaron Finch's men would get some extra boost as the Indian cricketers created some major goof ups in the form of dropped catches, misfields and dropped catches (so many dropped catches). And then the unthinkable happened. Not only did the Australians chase the massive total, they did it with more than two overs to spare. Following the loss, one of the Indian cricketers who found himself taking a major share of the blame was the Indian wicket keeper Rishabh Pant who missed out on major stumping opportunities at crucial junctions of the game. To make matters worse, the 21-year-old also dropped a couple of catches behind the wicket. The fact that veteran keeper and former captain of the team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni wasn't a part of the playing XI and Pant had to replace his presence led to all the MS Dhoni fans putting on a barrage of brutal criticisms, taunting his inability as a wicketkeeper whilst comparing him to a veteran like Dhoni. As the day ended, a lot of people came forward to show their support for the player who had suffered a lot of firing in the past 24 hours. While his childhood coach, Tarak Sinha called all the comparisons between Dhoni and Pant completely unfair, the Delhi-born cricketer got support from a rather unexpected source. He's just 21 and represents India in all 3 formats. Let's introspect and see what we were doing at that age. Give him a chance. @RishabPant777 u are pure talent keep the focus, you got this ! pic.twitter.com/GDySpRgiGU — Suniel Shetty (@SunielVShetty) March 11, 2019 Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty came to the young athlete's rescue reminding everyone of the fact that having been only 21 years old, Pant is one of the top choices for the team in all three formats of the game. Shetty also goes on to urge everyone who's criticising the talented star to introspect and realise what they were doing when they were of his age. Finally, he requests the ever-so-passionate fans of the game to give Pant a chance as he is destined for greatness and great things are in store for him. Wise words.
  8. You can finally play your PlayStation 4 (PS4) games on your iPad or your iPhone via Sony's Remote Play App. The application was already available on Android, considering it was first launched on the Xperia Z3 way back in October 2013. It has taken Sony 4.5 years to get the same feature for iOS devices. © SONY In order to use this feature, you will need to update your PS4, download the RemotePlay app on your iOS device and pair the two. The controller layout is overlaid on the screen and if you want to play on your iOS device, it will work best when paired with a third party controller. You cannot pair the PS4 controller with an iPhone or an iPad unless your device is jailbroken. iOS is a huge platform and bringing the functionally will be a massive expansion for streaming games. There are plenty of MFi gamepads you can use in order to play PlayStation games on your iPad. You can use the SteelSeries Nimbus as a gamepad and map the controls exactly like on the PlayStation 4 controller. © Sony Having said that, you will not be able to play PS4 games remotely such as via a mobile network. You will need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi in order for the function to work. You will also need an iPhone 7 or sixth-generation iPad or later to make the application work with your PS4. The new update has been rolled out for the PS4 and in the 6.5 version of the update, users can also remap the 'X' and 'O' buttons on the controller. Japanese consoles have to use the 'O' button for the “Enter” command, however, you can now remap it to 'X' or the other way around.
  9. The MWC 2019 was abuzz with discussions around foldable phones and their future. With every brand trying to grab the spotlight, foldable phones are said to be a major leap for mobile technology. At the same time though, the other side of the tradeshow was all about one thing - 5G. While hardware makers were trending foldable phones, wireless equipment makers and telecom operators were going crazy over the next generation of wireless communication. Chip makers like Qualcomm have already announced platforms to support 5G, and companies are now in a race to launch at least one phone with 5G support in their arsenal. Here's a list of all the phones that shall support 5G and are expected to launch soon! 1. Samsung Galaxy S10 5G © CNET The recently announced S10 family has already received a lot of attention from the media as well as users. Celebrating 10 years of the S-series, Samsung has tested the limits of technology this year. The Galaxy S10 5G was announced alongside the rest of the S10 lineup last week and it sports the same display, battery, and camera as the mainstream variant. But, it runs on an Exynos 9820 processor, coupled along with a Qualcomm Snapdragon X50 modem for 5G support. It shall come in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB internal memory configuration only, and does not support expandable storage, possibly due to larger 5G components. It shall launch in the second half of 2019, exclusively via Verizon in the US. Pricing hasn't been announced yet and we don't think it'll sell without a contract in the beginning. 2. Huawei Mate X © BCCL This phone blends the two most interesting aspects of technology right now, bendable display and 5G. Huawei isn't only a phone maker, but also a major force behind the manufacturing of telecom equipment. Hence, the brand says the Mate X will be the world's fastest 5G foldable phone thanks to its expertise in the enterprise segment. The phone houses an in-house Balong 5000 5G modem, though we aren't sure when and where you'll be actually able to use it. American carriers are expected to roll-out 5G in the coming one year, and considering recent Huawei - U.S government turmoil, it's a possibility the Mate X never makes it to the USA. Even this phone doesn't have an availability date or price right now. 3. Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 © Pocketlint Instead of launching a brand new phone, Xiaomi is choosing the wise path of launching a 5G variant of an existing model. The design, display, and camera continue to remain unchanged, and the processor has been upgraded from Snapdragon 845 to 855. Further support is added thanks to the X50 modem. Xiaomi has been transparent and says it'll retail for €599 ($679) in May. This is among the cheapest 5G phones we are seeing right now, and even Qualcomm President Cristiano Amon said he didn't expect 5G phones to be as cheap as Xiaomi's device. 4. LG V50 © TrustedReviews Even LG chose to launch a 5G variant of its existing phone, the V40 "ThinQ". And, LG wants to be extremely noisy about it and has added a glowing 5G logo on the back. The design has gotten a little bulky, presumably to make space for Snapdragon 855 and surrounding antennas. Even the battery is slightly larger at 4000mAh. A price hasn't been announced and the company said it'll be available by March-end, or whenever a carrier partner is ready to roll out 5G. © Twitter These are a few phones that are confirmed to ship soon. A few companies like OnePlus, OPPO, and Sony showed off prototype phones running 5G. These were just meant to show us that they are ready with a 5G offering and are waiting for the right time to launch. Incorporating a 5G modem right now is not only expensive but also challenging from a design point of view. Hence, until 5G is rolled out to a sufficient number of users worldwide, it makes no sense to launch compatible phones.
  10. In the last two months, on a couple of occasions, former Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has found himself in one of the most tricky scenarios for any batsmen. When the middle order collapses faster than melting ice, Dhoni's ability to stay on the crease has forced him to try and build partnerships with tailenders, especially when the Indian cricket team is not doing so well coming up with a respectable total to pose a real threat to the opposition. Under such 'Do or Die' circumstances, Dhoni is known to often stick with the third option: stay on the line and try to build a good total, even if it means that his knock is relatively slower than how it should have been; the alternative being getting out while going for a hasty shot. During the first Twenty20 match against the visiting Australian cricket team, Dhoni was put under a similar situation yet again. With Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya sent back to the dressing room for cheap, Dhoni had one and only one objective in his head: Help India play till the end. Agreed, his pace was too slow, especially for a T20I match, even then India played all 20 overs and were able to put a number which was a lot more than it could have been if Mahi had gotten out in foolishness. If we had won the game, the narrative towards Dhoni's batting would certainly have been a lot different but because all wasn't rosy at the end, he was scrutinised by the self-proclaimed cricket pundits online: Ball to Dhoni ð #INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/XPqVIHoh3B — Roshan Rai (@RoshanKrRai) February 24, 2019 #INDvAUS Waiting for Dhoni to hit his first boundary of the innings pic.twitter.com/zzZ2kh6I3s — Faking News (@fakingnews) February 24, 2019 Does MSD think only he can bat..?.. Doesnt good sight to see that he can't even give strike to #9 and he himself won't score.. not good at all..#Dhoni #INDvAUS — Akshay Hegde (@AAkshayHegde) February 24, 2019 However, Aussie all-rounder Glenn Maxwell came to the veteran's rescue when he said it was “fair enough” for Dhoni to turn down singles with his innings coming to an end, especially due to the slow and low nature of the pitch. According to cricket.com.au, Maxwell said: "MS is obviously a world-class finisher and even he was finding it hard to hit the middle of the bat… I think it was right of him to try and farm the strike and he hit a six in the last over… If you're holding MS to one boundary in the last few overs it's a pretty good effort and also a sign of the conditions as well.” There is not doubting Dhoni's abilities to finish games for the Men in Blue. More often than not, we have seen the man perform to the best of his abilities in clutch situations while also winning games with massive sixes on the last ball. It was just one of those days when things didn't turn out to be the way one hoped for. Even then, the fact that the Indian side was able to hold off the Australians to a nail-biting last-ball game winner was made possible with a great deal of credit going to MS Dhoni.
  11. Yesterday, on February 14, the nation was painted red with blood as more than 40 CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) personnel were martyred in one of the worst terrorist attacks ever, in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The death toll is on a constant rise as the injured soldiers continue battling for life. © AP From Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bollywood celebrities to commoners; the nation is mourning the death of these bravehearts. The families of martyrs have sunk in deep shock and no amount of words can ever console those hearts that are weeping for their loved ones, who were killed in Pulwama. Attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. The sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs. May the injured recover quickly. — Narendra Modi (@narendramodi) February 14, 2019 However, no matter how tough the times have been, people from across the country have always stood in solidarity with each other and this time too, they are paying their tributes to the martyrs by coming forward to provide financial help to the families of the soldiers who lost their lives. In 2017, actor Akshay Kumar along with the Central Government launched 'Bharat Ke Veer', an initiative to pay homage to the bravehearts who lost their lives in the line of duty. In this initiative, one can help the families financially, by donating either using the app or the website bharatkeveer.gov.in. © YouTube Apart from 'Bharat Ke Veer', the organisation 'Milaap' has also started a fundraiser to help the families affected by the terror attack. Actor Kunal Kapoor too posted on social media about his campaign 'Ketto', urging people to come forward and support the martyrs' kin. My heartfelt appeal to people, to come forward & support @ketto for their campaign to rehabilitate the families of @crpfindia martyrs. India, lets stand up for those who gave their lives for our safety. This is now set to become a reality for gamers as Microsoft will be adding Xbox Live cross-platform support for Android, iOS and Switch games. © YouTube The news comes from a Microsoft session at the upcoming Game Developers Conference, as it was noticed by Avers that Xbox Live will now be expanding its services to as many as 2 billion devices. Xbox Live on different platforms will have achievements, clubs, friends lists and “more” If this isn't some form of typo this is HUGE NEWS and will change the industry going forward. Currently, Xbox Live is already available on these platforms, however, the functionality is quite limited. You can use the app to chat with Xbox Live friends or keep tabs on what games they are playing. In games like Minecraft (Microsoft Owned), the app lets you sync your achievements as well. Microsoft has reserved cross-platform support for its own games, however, it looks like the new feature will be expanded to third-party titles. © Microsoft Microsoft is now looking to shift to a strategy of games as a service, which is also in line with a next-generation Xbox, that will exclusively stream games. Other initiatives such as the Xbox Game Pass subscription service may also be available to play on these different devices. It may not matter in the future whether you are playing on a PC, smartphone or the Nintendo Switch. The cross-platform support may be possible thanks to Microsoft's Project xCloud that will let users stream games on any device if this Xbox Live SDK comes into fruition. Microsoft does not plan for cross-platform support on the PlayStation 4 due to Sony's bullish attitude towards cross-play.
  13. Last week, we all witnessed a harrowing incident where the plane of the Argentine footballer, Emiliano Sala disappeared from the radar over the English channel. After the police called off the rescue operation, now comes the ray of hope as a private search has been initiated to find the missing footballer. Sala had made his dream come true, of playing in the Premier League, as he made a move to Cardiff City from Nantes just a day before the incident took place. Days after the authorities called off the search for the Argentine, David Mearns led a private search for the missing plane and affirmed that there is a “very good chance” of finding the aircraft. © Reuters Approximately Rs 2.5 crores($3,40,000) have been raised till now, including a number of Rs 24 lakh ($34,000) by the French World Cup star Kylian Mbappe, to a crowdfunding campaign aimed at funding a private search mission for the missing aircraft. Along with him, many famous footballers like Adrien Rabiot (PSG) and Marseille's Dmitri Payet have also donated sizeable amounts to support the initiative. Talking of David Mearns, he is an American-born marine scientist and shipwreck-hunting specialist and confirmed that a survey vessel, equipped with state-of-the-art search equipment has been mobilized and will conduct an underwater search for the plane this weekend. © Reuters Though there's no guarantee of them to be found, Sala's family is determined to do everything they possibly can through the support they have in the football community and through family and friends. Many stars involving Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona have raised their concern over the continuation of the Argentines Aircraft. On 20th February, 28-year-old Emiliano Sala arrived in Cardiff to sign a deal for a club record fee which is not disclosed but is suspected to be around 15 Million Euros. Later he went back to Nantes, to bid farewell to his former teammates, and was on his way to Cardiff when the incident occurred, where the pilot David Ibbotson lost contact with Jersey air traffic control as it made its way over the English Channel. With private funding and underwater search in progress, let's hope Cardiff City finds their beloved new signing.
  14. For a team that remained unbeaten in the group stage, the Indian women's cricket team undoubtedly left their fans disheartened after producing a mediocre performance in the all-important semifinals against England at the ICC World Cup in West Indies. While the tournament has come to an end with Australia clinching the coveted trophy, the troubles of Indian women's cricket seem far from over. Right after the tournament, Mithali Raj, India's senior-most women's cricketer, opened a can of worms by accusing coach Ramesh Powar of humiliating and embarrassing her during their stay in the Caribbean. She also claimed that her exclusion from the semis clash against England, that saw India losing the game by eight wickets after being bundled out for just 112 runs, was "baffling and hurtful" and that her main issue was with the coach who was indifferent to her in the lead up to the match in Antigua. Apart from coach Powar, Mithali also accused BCCI's CoA (Committee of Administrators) member Diana Edulji of ignoring her ordeal despite knowing everything. The 35-year-old claimed that Edulji used her position against her and made her feel vulnerable. If Mithali's allegations stirred up a storm, coach Powar's response further added to the controversy, instigating strong reactions all around. © BCCL In a 10-page tour report submitted to the BCCI, Powar gave nearly a five-page assessment of India's leading run-getter in T20Is. He claimed that Mithali threatened to leave the tournament midway at being dropped from the opening slot despite being duly consulted before the move. He also accused her of chasing personal milestones while ignoring the team's cause. "I was saddened by her attitude and it gave me an impression that Mithali Raj comes first and then India. She threw a lot of tantrums and created a lot of chaos," Powar stated in his report. “I hope Mithali Raj stops blackmailing, pressurising coaches and also stops putting her interest first than team's. I hope she will look at the bigger picture & work towards betterment of the Indian women's cricket,” he added further. I'm deeply saddened & hurt by the aspersions cast on me. My commitment to the game & 20yrs of playing for my country. The hard work, sweat, in vain. Today, my patriotism doubted, my skill set questioned & all the mud slinging- it's the darkest day of my life. May god give strength — Mithali Raj (@M_Raj03) November 29, 2018 In response to coach Powar's assessment of her, Mithali penned a touching note on her official Twitter handle. "I'm deeply saddened & hurt by the aspersions cast on me. My commitment to the game & 20yrs of playing for my country. The hard work, sweat, in vain. Today, my patriotism doubted, my skill set questioned & all the mud slinging- it's the darkest day of my life. May god give strength," she tweeted. Mithali's emotional tweet evoked strong reactions on the micro-blogging website. In fact, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar rallied behind her before lauding the batswoman's illustrious career. “I feel sorry for Mithali. She has a very good point. She has served Indian cricket for 20 years. She scored runs, she won player of the match in both matches (she played at the World T20),” Gavaskar told India Today. “She was injured for one game but fit for the next game. Just convert this situation into the men's game. If you had a Virat Kohli who was injured for one game and then is fit for the knockout, will you leave him out? You have to pick your best player for the knockouts. You needed the experience and expertise of Mithali Raj,” Gavaskar said. Apart from Gavaskar, Indian cricket fans, too, backed the senior cricketer during the "darkest day" of her life. Chin up Mithali..You r fighter. After Pakistan women team Cricket matches,I often watch India women team cricket and I have been watching you since long playing outstanding cricket for India and having great skills. Nair (@bacwaters) November 29, 2018 While the BCCI is yet to act in the ever-growing controversy, Powar's tenure as the Indian women's cricket's interim coach will come to an end on 30th November. While he will be eligible to apply for the post again when fresh applications are invited, there is a very small chance that he will be retained in the same role, as his player management skills have come under scanner due to the ongoing controversy.
  15. It seems like Samsung is going all out with its upcoming Galaxy S10 with features that would outshine quite a few flagship smartphones. The Galaxy S9 looked like a small upgrade from its predecessor however it seems like Samsung is turning up the heat with the S10 this time. © Twitter According to Wall Street Journal, Samsung is preparing to launch four different models of the Galaxy S10, out of which one will have a massive 6.7-inch screen, have support for 5G and also pack six cameras. The six cameras will include a quad setup at the back and two selfie sensors in the front. Samsung has already launched the Samsung A9 in India yesterday that has a similar setup however the Galaxy S10 is reported to have even better sensors. © Twitter The other three smartphones from the lineup are expected to be smaller and have a screen size ranging from 5.8 inches to 6.4 inches. These models will also have different camera setups as some are expected to have three to five cameras in total. It is also being reported that the new Galaxy S10 device will incorporate reverse wireless charging similar to Huawei's Mate 20 Pro. In previous rumours we've covered that Samsung may not have a notch and instead have something entirely different. The Galaxy S10 is also expected to have chips dedicated for AI functionality and high-resolution cameras. Samsung is trying to experiment and push the envelope with their new smartphones especially since the Galaxy S9 and Note 9 are considered to have incremental upgrades. 5G support on smartphones is the next big step in communication and Qualcomm's new 8150 chipsets will be all about the new capabilities. The Snapdragon 8150 chipset will have the X50 5G modem with is already being utilised by companies such as OnePlus, Xiaomi and LG for 2019 smartphones. Source: Wall Street Journal
  16. For many years, the women's game toiled hard in obscurity and struggled to match the popularity or fanfare one generally associates with men's cricket. The worlds of men's and women's cricket shared a wide gap in pay structure, facilities and cash rewards. But, times are changing and the situation, which might not yet be ideal, has surely got better for women's cricket. Today, women cricketers have not only managed to carve their own niche, but their exploits on the field have made the game more popular among fans, who were earlier glued to men's events. And, adding to its rise over the years, women's cricket recently witnessed a major turning point in the form of its first standalone ICC World T20. For the first time, women's cricket got a showpiece ICC event that was not a precursor or filler for the men's tournament. © Twitter/@BCCI The tournament, which has already witnessed 14 games so far, has been full of exciting contests and commendable individual feats. In an event that is comprised of 10 teams, split evenly in two groups, India and Australia have undoubtedly emerged as favourites with three wins in as many games so far. The Harmanpreet Kaur-led side got the better of New Zealand in their tournament opener, then thrashed arch-rivals Pakistan before booking their semifinals berth with a convincing win over Ireland. Thanks to their blistering form, India sealed their semis berth for only the third time (and first since 2010) in the history of the tournament. 17. Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Mi Mix 3 will have some mind-blowing specifications that nobody expected. The Chinese company teased something with a poster via Weibo, however, the company later confirmed a few details about the upcoming smartphone. The Mi Mix 3 will be among the first few smartphones that will have 5G support and will also be one of the first to feature 10GB of RAM. © Weibo We've already seen smartphones that sport 8GB of RAM which is more than enough to run Android on smartphones. 10 GB of RAM definitely feels like an overkill, but one never knows how it would work with MIUI. 5G networks seem more interesting, as this technology won't be available in every country until 2019. © Xiaomi Chipsets that support 5G connectivity are not currently available for OEM's to implement in their smartphones, which begs the question that how did Xiaomi do it. It seems like the smartphone is using an external modem, probably Qualcomm's X24 or X50 to achieve this. The two external modems are probably working in tandem with Snapdragon 845 and may cause battery drain. Pricing Details: The 6GB RAM/64GB storage variant will be priced at $510 while the Ceramic Edition will cost $660. The 6GB RAM/128GB variant will cost $555 and $705 for the Ceramic Edition. The 8GB/128GB option will be listed at $600 and $750 for the Standard and Ceramic Editions respectively. Lastly, the 8GB/256GB variant will cost $645 (Standard model) and $795 for the Ceramic Edition.

Yes, the guy who's known for trying to troll celebrities for stupid stuff and always getting hate in return, still hasn't learned his lesson. I would like to reply to that tweet with a meme – 'Fellas, is it gay for a man to have a baby with a woman and hold it securely?' But, it's good to see not a single person agreeing with him. One of the first people to give it off to Piers was Chris Evans. You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child. 19. The new iPhone Xs and Xs Max have dual SIM standby. In the normal world, this would mean that you have a SIM tray that can house two SIM cards. But this conventional method doesn't work in the Apple world. Sure, Apple will release a similar dual-SIM variant, but it will be restricted to China. In every other country, you'll need an eSIM to actually use the dual SIM support. What Is An eSIM? eSIM is an Embedded-Subscriber Identity Module, in simpler terms, the physical SIM card that we use daily is digitally embedded into the system, hence no physical card is necessary. With this technology, you omit the need for a physical card, and while this is definitely the future of telecommunication, it requires support from carriers. © Apple Currently, only Reliance Jio and Airtel support eSIM functionality in India. With this, it is easier for you to port to a new operator, as the system changes can be done digitally, and no new SIM needs to be activated. With the new iPhone Xs and Xs Max, you can easily insert one physical SIM card like you've always had, but to use the dual SIM capability, the second connection will have to plug via the eSIM. So, while Apple has, for the first time, given us a much-required feature, it does come with a lot of SIMs attached! © Apple Why Use An eSIM? An eSIM is even smaller than a nano-SIM card, hence it takes up lesser space. Also, with eSIMs, you don't have to worry about keeping a physical tray. Remember the days when batteries used to be swappable? Majority phones cannot be opened today, and in the same way, we should soon see an end to swapping SIM cards. © Apple An eSIM also helps in quickly porting carriers because they can be remotely activated. The adoption of this technology has been rather slow because hardly any company has pushed it to actual use. Apple Watch LTE uses this same technology, so does Google's Pixel 2 (the USA only). With the iPhones getting eSIM support, we expect more phone makers, as well as carriers, to adopt it. Once the technology gains wider acceptance, travelling internationally will also become easier. No need to keep a track of SIM cards, your new number will be directly sent to your iPhone and you are good to go. Neat right?
  20. It's been a week since the landmark ruling, that scrapped the outdated section 377 that criminalised so many innocent people, barring them from enjoying the basic human rights. But, it's all gone now and even though it hasn't magically solved all the problems the LGBTQ community faces, it's the best step in the right direction which will make sure that change follows soon. People have been showing support way before the ruling and obviously did not stop after the historical moment. 21. The September 12 Apple event is just around the corner and the internet is filled with numerous leaks and reports. This time, Apple is expected to launch three new iPhones, one of them will be the 'iPhone XC'. This time, the company is trying to target three iPhones, each at a different price segment. SlashLeaks has shared images of the reported iPhone XC and it is expected to launch in Red, Blue, White, and Rose Gold. The blue colour will be making a comeback straight after 2103's iPhone 5C. The other two devices, the iPhone XS and XS Max are expected to launch in the usual three colours. © SlashLeaks Coming back to the iPhone XC, the device shall sport a 6.1-inch LCD display, a huge jump from the iPhone 8' 4.7-inch and iPhone 8 Plus' 5.5-inches. In the last few years, we've seen a majority of the Android devices sport a 5.0-inch or larger panel, and this has pretty much become a standard for flagships now. The most interesting thing about the iPhone XC though is the support for two SIM cards (or dual SIM as we generally call it). Adding to that, it is expected to support dual 4G support, meaning you can use two 4G connections simultaneously. This is a very basic functionality that has become pretty common in the Android world, finally, iPhone users too will have it. iPhone Xc (6.1” LCD) clones/dummy models in new colors. pic.twitter.com/RybRhE7XSO — Ben Geskin (@VenyaGeskin1) September 6, 2018 Analyst Ming-Ching Kuo, known for pretty accurate predictions regarding Apple devices, had even predicted that the bigger iPhone XS Max will come with dual-SIM support too. The phones will be made available in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants, depending on market and region. © SlashLeaks The iPhone XC is being termed the 'cheaper' iPhone variant right now, though, in the Apple ecosystem, cheap isn't really that cheap. To cut corners, the phone is expected to have an aluminium build, instead of steel. On the bright side, all the three models are expected to sport a notch along with Apple's Face ID authentication system. A quick recap of what we know so far, the trio is sure to run on Apple's latest A12 processor. The iPhone XC is alleged to have a 6.1-inch LCD panel, the iPhone XS is expected to have a 5.8-inch OLED panel, and lastly, the XS Max may have a 6.5-inch OLED panel. Source: Ben Geskin

Today, Xiaomi's Director of Product Management, Donovan Sung, has posted a real photo of the phone and revealed that it will support 5G. The status bar on the phone has '5G+' written on it. The MIX-lineup has always been about the design, and bezel-less displays are at the heart of it. The series has always sported one of the highest screen-to-body ratios. © Xiaomi Sung also wrote on Twitter, “We've successfully tested 5G data connections on Xiaomi phones, and we can't wait for the official rollout of 5G next year!…. 5G download speeds are more than 10X faster than 4G speeds. What's everyone looking forward to the most?” In the past few months, we've seen OPPO and Vivo release phones that have a sliding camera mechanism. This addition lets the manufacturer remove the camera lens and sensor arrays from the top, and shift it behind the display. Hence, a notch is no longer required and the user ultimately gets a higher screen-to-body ratio. © GadgetMatch Even if we leave the technicalities out, a phone with barely any bezels and chin looks very futuristic. The MIX 3 is definitely at the final stage of development and with today's release, we also know it has reached network testing. What's interesting is, which chipset will be powering the MIX 3? The current flagship Snapdragon 845 doesn't have 5G support, and to have it, the soon to launch Snapdragon 855 or the Qualcomm X50 modem will be required. However, Mi MIX 3 will not be the world's first-ever phone to have 5G capabilities, as the Moto Z3, launched in early August, offered an exclusive 5G Moto Mod. © Moto Z3 5G/Motorola The phone is set to be launched in October, and Sung said in his tweet, that the company “can't wait for the official rollout of 5G next year.” Also, even if the phone is able to support 5G bands, carriers across the globe are going to need much more time to actually start operating the newer technology.

  24. Compelling evidence has emerged suggesting that a huge reservoir of liquid water has been found under the ice, near the South Pole on Mars. The European Space Agency's Mars Express orbiter captured radar measurements and spotted a 20 kilometer-wide stretch of water in the region, known as Planum Australe. © Nasa It's the first time in history, that scientists have identified a stable body of water on Mars and they suggest that there's a good chance microbial life may have existed thanks to this lake. The planet's climate has been called inhabitable due to its thin atmosphere, which resulted in leaving most of the water locked up in ice. Scientists have been searching for signs of present-day water on Mars, but their search has often resulted in empty or ambiguous findings. This latest discovery was possible, because researchers in Italy analysed three years of data by something called the Mars Advanced Radar for Subsurface and Ionosphere Sounding (Marsis). "It's probably not a very large lake," said Prof Roberto Orosei from the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics, who led the study. Marsis was not able to identify the thickness of the layer of water, but research suggests that it is a minimum of one meter. © Wikipedia Commons "This really qualifies this as a body of water. A lake, not some kind of meltwater filling some space between rock and ice, as happens in certain glaciers on Earth," Prof Orosei added. Marsis is a form of a radar instrument, that examines the surface and subsurface of a planet by sending out signals. The instrument then examines what is bounced back and in this case, a white line at the top of the radar suggested the beginning of the South Polar Layered Deposit. © Nasa As of now, there is no certainty whether the discovered lake is ideal for life, however, the liquid could potentially support microbes that have adapted salt water. The water is also far under the surface of Mars which presents a problem for life as of today. The surface is also exposed to intense radiation which basically is inhabitable for life. Having said that, experts have said that as long as there is an energy source or a source of nutrients or raw materials, life is possible on the red planet.
