  1. On June 14th, everything changed. The entire country stopped to mourn the loss of one of the most brilliant people in the country and a lot of people are still dealing with his death. Sushant Singh Rajput was not just a great actor but also a genuinely good person and his death affected a lot of people. While it's understandable to want to know how we lost him at such a young age, everything that followed his death is something even he wouldn't have liked. © Twitter So, amid all the toxicity surrounding his fan base, here are some things that we should never forget about him, and should always be considered as his legacy: 1. Making It As An Outsider © Yash Raj Films He wasn't your typical Bollywood hero. It seemed like he was quite particular about his choices in the movies he did and it honestly shows. With such a great track record, he always performed brilliantly, be it MS Dhoni or as Sarfaraz in PK. 4. His Positivity About Life View this post on Instagram He always seemed so full of life and that's why the news of his suicide and alleged depression is all the more heartbreaking. On Twitter, on Instagram, he was always such a positive presence that no one could tell he was suffering himself. But, you know what they say, the saddest people smile the brightest. 5. Anyone Who Met Him Left With Memories For A Lifetime View the full article
  2. Strong, muscular, tall, macho, suave - we wouldn't blame you if you thought we were describing a man. The image associated with men has always inclined towards the physical aspect of the balance rather than the mental or even emotional one. Words like sensitive, compassionate, empathetic, woke have been used rather modestly when it comes to men. A man has been perceived rather unidimensionally for ages now. To reignite the conversation on International Men's Day and actually understand the nuances of mental health from the horse's mouth, we got in touch with men from various walks of life. It's been commendable to see each of these stars letting us inside their darkest moments and how they overcame them, breaking stereotypes, and proving that it's okay for a man to feel weak and vulnerable. This is Sushant Divgikar’s story. A drag icon, a performer, a reality TV star, Mr Gay 2014, Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia and much more, Sushant Divgikar a.k.a Rani KoHeNoor may seem like someone who has done it all, but, in some ways he is just getting started. As a content creator, Sushant is fearless. He is unapologetically himself. And unafraid to speak his mind. © shopper's stop Where did you grow up? How was it growing up as a queer kid? Did it come with its own set of challenges? I was always a very expressive kid. I was always an overachiever. I was a national level swimmer and I was the sports caption. So, I beat all the boys to it, that too in an all boys school. All in all, I didn’t stress on the fact that I was different. There were a lot of kids growing up that were different, and that is their journey, like this is mine. As an ‘influencer’ I don’t like the idea of going around telling people how to live their life, or how they should come out. I honestly believe that the worst thing to do is give suggestions, and I’m an industrial psychologist by degree. I have realised that the worst thing to do for someone is to give advice. Someone sitting in say … Nagaland may not have the same issues as me. So, for me to sit here, in Bandra West, and these suggestions are very fake and unbecoming of me. I’m not living my life to inspire people. That’s not my motto. Of course I love to break the glass ceiling, but that’s because I live life on my own terms. I’m just the way I am. And, that’s the only way I know how to. That in itself in a political statement in our country. And, if you don’t want to, just change the channel! Did you ever face any form of bullying? In school or college or at work? How did it impact your mental health? How did you deal with it? Yes, I won’t call it bullying but name calling happens everywhere. Regardless of whether you are gay or straight or of any sexual orientation, for any child, every child has to go through some sort of teasing. And this happens because it comes from one’s own insecurities. Unfortunately, this happens because through our films and TV shows and pop culture references we make fun of people who are away from the norm, and because of our absurd standards of beauty, technically everyone ends up being bullied or teased at some point of their lives. © Sushant Divgikar Of course, I have been called all sorts of names as well, not just at school or college, but also at the workplace. Even today, fellow co-workers call me all sorts of names. Not that it bothers me, it just shows what their upbringing is like and how they are insecure about themselves. Well, I’m just getting recognition for the work I do. I don’t even need to glorify these people by giving them any sort of attention, so all these people can bark while I collect my awards. Even as a kid, I could protect myself well. All of my brothers taught me how to fight and protect myself. And I feel every child needs to know how to protect themselves if they are put in that sort of a situation. I used to whack people who used to say something unparliamentary to me because that’s how I protected myself. Unfortunately, there are kids who can’t protect themselves and for them I want to say, go out, seek help. It doesn’t make you weak if you ask for help. Learn to protect yourself, because in some situations there might not be people who’d be able to help you but always know that if you ask for help, you’ll get it. I am sorry if this comes across as condoning physical violence, but I’m not going to wait for somebody to bring me justice. Or if tomorrow, something happens to my niece, I would want her to fight back if somebody tries to molest her. I’m not going to take the law into my hand and kill someone, but I need to protect myself. But we need to empathise with the bullies rather than get angry with them because we need to understand that this comes from a place of extreme toxicity and they also need help. Do you recall any specific incident of bullying that you would like to share with us? © Sushant Divgikar I was about 12 and a senior said something really nasty to me. I turned around and he was so tall that I jumped on to him and slapped his face without thinking about the repercussions. But then he got so embarrassed that someone so junior to him slapped him in front of everyone that he ran. He didn’t come back to hit me. Everyone agreed that he deserved what he got. And that’s what you need to make clear - you need to show the bully you are not weak and some repercussion will take place. Even when I got into college and then started working in the entertainment industry, there were a lot of incidents. Anyone who thinks the entertainment industry is all butterflies and rainbows is unfortunately mistaken. But it’s not just the entertainment industry, there’s discrimination in all vocations. I have faced a lot of discrimination in the industry too but thankfully, there are a lot of good people too who have always believed in me. I’m really thankful to my mentors too who have held my hand in this journey and said it doesn’t matter if you’re gay, straight, man, woman or transgender; you are talented and that’s what matters. Speaking of the entertainment industry, could you highlight the problems plaguing it and how you’ve managed to successfully navigate your way through it? This industry is tough and very cut-throat, so if you are not thick skinned, you will perish. But I think it goes for any industry, whether you are in the forces, in the government, an actor, an artist, a drag queen. Because unfortunately, realistically speaking, the world is not a very kind place and people will have a lot of opinions on you when you’re in the public domain. So, concentrate on the people who give you positive vibes. Let’s be honest, you’re not going to change people’s perspective because there’s Google now. It’s not your duty to educate people because if someone can use their phones to make a nasty comment they can surely use it to gain knowledge about things they are so blissfully unaware about. Back in the day, you used to get a call (for Bigg Boss), and you’d go and meet the channel. So, I was very nervous and shy, like a very good kid from Bandra. And, I didn't know the tricks of the trade. So, my publicist called me and said why aren’t you being your fierce sassy self. I said I’m not going to be OTT, and clap my hands. I just can’t do it. This is how I am, and there’s a reason it’s called Reality TV. So, they called me back and I said exactly this, and in Hindi, and they got me on Bigg Boss. The representation of a queer person, minding his/her own business and living their true self on TV is still what I stand for. It may not be masala, or abuse, but at the end of the day, from my season, how many of the men are you interviewing right now? That’s the question! What is your opinion on pronouns for different genders and what are you comfortable with? I realised that I was gender fluid after 29 years and I thought it was important for me to put out my preferred pronouns out there. I’m comfortable with all three pronouns - He, She, They. So, I don’t think anyone can misgender me, because I’m comfortable with the synergy of male and female energy. This is something I’m okay and comfortable with. Other people should put out what their preferred pronouns are (referring to the popularity of pronouns being used on Instagram bios and email signatures) so that there is no ambiguity. Also, we are in 2020, so I would rather people talk about my art, and the kind of person I am, rather than my gender or my sexual orientation. © Sushant Divgikar It’s wonderful to see you present your unapologetic self in front of the world. What is it that you want your audience to know about yourself? When I was on TV, I didn’t have too many references to look upto, so I wanted to be that reference. And I want people to understand that I’m the reality and not the stereotype we’ve been conditioned to all these years. So, when I started breaking this 11 years ago on television, I started living this reality. It's been a rollercoaster ride over the years, with lots of ups and downs, and with a lot of nasty people, but eventually I was on the cover. And the naysayers, well let’s just say, they can keep talking and I will just keep doing it. And, that’s the tea! View the full article
  3. These boycott trends are really getting out of hand. Every morning you wake up and see some or the other thing being boycotted and people being irrationally angry. Sometimes, it's valid, but most of the time, it's mainly some folks finding any excuse to spew hate online for no reason. © Unsplash The latest thing to get boycotted this year is the snack brand Bingo. Apparently, people are offended by an advertisement made by the chips brand that features Bollywood star, Ranveer Singh. And, why are people offended? Well, here's where things get a little complicated. Here's the ad in question: What's the offensive part? Couldn't find it? Here are some Twitter trolls to help you out. See how Ranveer Singh and bingo together make fun of SSR. I get it, so am I. What I'm getting from these tweets of the 'offended' people is that since Ranveer said some 'sciency things', he's trying to mock the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. That's it, that's the reason. #BoycottBingo : @BingoSnacks Takedown that New Bingo Ad with Mr Cartoon - Ranvir Ching ! It Indirectly Points to Our Sushant Singh Rajput. And, it's not just me saying that, as a lot of his fans came out to fight the unnecessarily hateful trend because it really doesn't make any sense. See, I am an SSR fan. But if u think using word photon here is disrespectful for him... aren't u to immature?? 4. Even though Sushant Singh Rajput left this material world physically, his fans and well-wishers continue to reminisce about the late actor in many different ways. Case in point, one of his old tweets which is making rounds on Twitter right now and fans are awestruck with the actor’s unbeatable intelligence. If not, read on to find out what the late actor had to say about the matter. The Chhichhore actor replied that it was “subjective”. 5. The year 2020 has been really bad for the entire world and more so for the Hindi film industry as we lost some great gems. The deaths of Irrfan Khan, Rishi Kapoor, and Sushant Singh Rajput felt more like personal losses to everyone and it’s heartbreaking to imagine the industry without these three great actors. They might have left the physical world but their movies continue to keep their legacy alive. To celebrate their legacy and give them a special tribute, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2020 will be screening Irrfan Khan's Song of Scorpion, Rishi Kapoor's 102 Not Out, and Sushant Singh Rajput's Kedarnath. Mitu Bhowmick Lange of IFFM, said in a statement, "Artistes live on through their legacy. These were some fine men who did some incredible movies that resonated with everyone. It was important for us to celebrate their memory. We handpicked some great films for our audience so that we relive a little bit of their lives with them. Their loss to the film industry is irrevocable but the magic of their movies will continue to entertain generations hereafter." Irrfan died on April 29 after a two-year battle with a neuroendocrine tumour. Rishi died a day later on April 30 after battling cancer for a year while Sushant died on June 14. It was Sushant’s death that changed how people looked at Bollywood and questioned how the industry functions. People are calling the tribute a devious plot and are saying that this will not change anything in how people have started perceiving Bollywood now. 14. The Central Bureau of Investigation aka the CBI is one of the premier investigation agencies India boasts of. Indian citizens have come to bestow the organisation with immense trust when it comes to tackling sensitive cases of national importance. Although a quick research will tell you, that at the time of its inception, CBI wasn’t anything like the CBI we know today. First set up way back in 1941 as the Special Police Establishment (SPE) to investigate bribery and corruption, 1965 saw the SPE metamorphose into the present day CBI, which now holds the authority to look into matters involving breaches of central laws, cross-state organised crime, multi-agency or international cases. © Twitter-eenaduliven People’s faith in the CBI comes from the fact that it is an independent organisation that works impartially without bureaucratic influence calling dibs on its workings. The last decade, especially, saw the agency investigate several economic and special crimes, cases of corruption and various high-profile cases, the most recent one being that of actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. But here are 5 other important and sensitive cases the CBI has undertaken previously in recent times: 1. Vijay Mallya Case © BCCL Perhaps one of the most controversial cases the CBI has been asked to handle in recent years, was the Vijay Mallya multi-crore bank fraud case. After Mallya fled from India in 2016, having allegedly defrauded several banks of close to Rs 9,000 crore, former CBI Special Director Rakesh Asthana himself led the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the case. 2. Sheena Bora Murder Case © TOI After Mumbai-based executive Sheena Bora, working with Mumbai Metro One went missing on 24 April 2012, investigations presented her mother Indrani, stepfather Sanjeev and driver Shyamvar as possible suspects. All three were arrested by the Mumbai Police in August 2015 for abducting, killing her and eventually, burning Sheena’s corpse. The case was subsequently taken over by the CBI in September 2015. 3. Nirav Modi-PNB Scam © BCCL In January 2018 the Punjab National Bank (PNB) filed a police complaint against Nirav Modi and others and accused them of fraud amounting to a whopping Rs 2.81 billion. Following the complaint, the CBI launched an investigation into the alleged scam in February 2018. Working with the Enforcement Directorate, CBI is currently awaiting the September 2020 hearing after the five-day extradition trial was adjourned by the UK court. 4. Jeyaraj-Fenix Custodial Death Case © TOI The Tuticorin case, as it is otherwise known, caused a lot of uproar following the custodial deaths of father-son duo Jayaraj and Fenix in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukoodi district. 59-year-old Jeyaraj and 31-year-old Fenix were picked up by the Sathankulam police for allegedly violating lockdown guidelines by keeping their shop open after prescribed business hours. Following alleged brutal thrashing and physical abuse, the father and son died in a government hospital in June. In early July, after the state government’s request, the case was handed over to CBI. 5. PNB-Mehul Choksi Case © BCCL Back in March 2018, a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act court issued non-bailable arrest warrants against Choksi, and his nephews Nirav Modi and Neeshal Deepak Modi. The trio was suspected to have colluded with two Punjab National Bank employees in an alleged $1.8 billion fraud. Having already fled to Antigua before he could be prosecuted, Choksi was declared a fugitive of the Indian government. The CBI is working closely with INTERPOL and the Antiguan government to extradite Choksi back to India. We hope these cases meet the desired end and justice is delivered. View the full article
  15. On 14th June, we all were relaxing as it was a Sunday but everything changed when the news started to flash that Sushant Singh Rajput is no more and the reason stated was that he died by suicide. We were numb and hundreds of questions started to bother us when his last pictures surfaced on the internet. His case was more complicated than it looked like and there were set of revelations that were to come in light. The fans and well-wishers flooded the social media platforms and questioned if he was murdered because pictures of his deceased body told a different tale than it was being presented on the TV. For those who have met him, they were unable to wrap their heads around the whole theory of suicide but it looked like a well-planned murder. On YouTube, some forensic experts started to do the virtual autopsy and claimed that he was brutally beaten up before being choked to death. In no time, people started to ask for justice for Sushant Singh Rajput and it’s more than 50 days, there’s no development in the direction of finding the truth. When Sushant’s father filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty, the whole narrative of the case changed, and here’s when news channels swung into action and since then, there have been some very shocking revelations. We are sharing with you the 10 most shocking claims that came out in his case and it might change your perspective to see it. 1. As per a report in Mid-Day, a forensic surgeon, on the condition of anonymity, told the tabloid that the forensic surgeons who had done the autopsy on Sushant may not have collected the crucial finger swabs and nail clippings. The report quoted a forensic surgeon saying, “This swab could have indicated if dust particles from the ceiling fan were present on Sushant's fingers. This would have cleared the ambiguity over foul play. The dust particles would have been on the cloth used for hanging, on the ceiling fan and fingertips. The type of dust particles on all would have offered a clue. Even if the fingertips did not have dust, the cloth and fan would surely have had.” The forensic surgeon told the daily, “The forensic surgeons/scientists could have asked to take specific fingerprints, which a fingerprint expert may miss out on as every crime scene is different. An analysis of the same by a forensic surgeon and forensic scientist usually helps gather more evidence.” 2. Sushant Singh Rajput's family's appointed lawyer Vikas Singh, in an interview with Pinkvilla, had made some shocking revelations about Rhea Chakraborty. Well, she claimed that Sushant’s sister Priyanka Singh molested her at a party. Rhea invited Sushant and Priyanka to her brother Showick Chakraborty's birthday party. It was on 20th April that Sushant and his sister were at the party and things got ugly when Rhea allegedly told him that his sister took advantage of her. The lawyer said, “Rhea told Sushant the earlier night, after the birthday party, that his sister Priyanka tried to take advantage of her and molest her on the intervening night of 18-19th April at Sushant’s residence, Sushant believed Rhea and had an altercation with his sister Priyanka and Priyanka couldn't even believe that Sushant would get manipulated this way but she wanted peace and vacated the apartment. Once she reached Delhi and told her husband about it, her husband told her that what happened was not correct as he was also there on the intervening night of 18-19th April 2019 and reasoned it out with Sushant directly through WhatsApp messages but Sushant wasn't ready to listen." Eventually, he did come back to realize that Rhea manipulated to create a rift between the siblings. 3. Rhea Chakraborty and the family left their building right after the Bihar Government sent the officials to investigate her. She was not available and the Bihar police also added their motive is not to punish any innocent. “If Rhea has not done anything wrong then she should stop playing hide-and-seek with the police and come forward to clarify the things," the Bihar Police said. 4. Sushant’s former cook Ashok said the actor hardly took any medicine when he was working there. It was after the Europe trip, that things started to change. Ashok was asked not to continue and wasn’t given any concrete reason for that. "I was working as a cook in Sushant's house and I am a chef. I worked for three-four years with him up till September 2019. Everything seemed fine till I was working there, neither did I see him taking any medicine during that time. I don't know what happened afterward," Ashok told ANI. He added, “Sushant was in touch with his family till the time I was working. Even I spoke to his family members on some occasions when they used to call him. He was a strong man and how can he be depressed?" 5. The theory behind who saw him hanging is also very shady because there are different versions of it. Sidharth Pithani said he was the first one to see the body hanging and the cook also claimed the same thing. Yesterday, Sidharth Pithani, in an interview with Times Now said that he asked the key-maker to go and check who first found him hanging. He kept changing his statements every 5 minutes in the interview. He also added that he physically cut the cloth and brought down his body after his ‘jiju’ asked him but the family has denied all his claims. Then, he said the key makers were asked to leave just after they opened the door. 6. His conflicting statements in the interview made it sure that he is hiding a lot of things. He earlier said that he didn’t witness any fight between Rhea and Sushant and then went on to claim he knew about their troubled relationship. He had earlier said that he had professional ties with Sushant but then claimed that he left his job to be by the actor’s side. He said that he wasn’t aware of the fact that Rhea was handling expenses and then claimed that he had informed the family about the expenses. He also admitted that he did give medicines to him but only recalled one of the names. Here’s the interview. 7. Sushant’s former close aide Ankit Acharya told that the actor never slept with locked doors. He also claimed that he too was asked to leave and he went later to see Sushant, he was not allowed to meet him. He also revealed that he got to know that a different kind of ‘Pooja’ happened at home. He also said that Rhea used to party on his expenses. Sushant’s bodyguard also claimed that Rhea did ask him to get the medicines for the actor. 8. Sushant’s friend on the basis of anonymity told Republic that the actor had told him about Sandip Ssingh and he knows everything but the friend also added Ssingh is a mysterious character because he is twisting statements. He also said that Bollywood biggies are somewhere connected. 9. Sushant’s family friend Smita also revealed that Disha Salian’s death did upset him and he was scared. He kept telling his sister that they won’t leave me. He was very anxious but he wasn’t depressed. Bihar DGP also agreed that both the deaths are linked. 10. Sandip Ssingh claimed on TV that it was only one ambulance that came but the videos claim otherwise. There were three ambulances on the premises. There are more such revelations but for us, these 10 were too big and would change your perspective of seeing his death because it's way more complicated than it looks like. We sincerely hope that the truth prevails and justice is served. View the full article
