  1. "I hope to return to my best in this series...and it will be good if it happens before the World Cup," Babar Azam says
  2. Plan formulated to ensure smooth flow of traffic in city during matches to be played at National Stadium Karachi
  3. The seven-match T20I series will be played across Karachi and Lahore from September 20-October 2
  4. Dinesh Karthik has reinvented himself in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he has taken the role of the finisher like a duck takes to water. He has finished the innings in three games for Royal Challengers Bangalore and is yet to be dismissed. Karthik's strike rate this year has been over 200. Former India head coach Ravi Shastri feels that if the wicket-keeper batter continues his fiery form throughout the IPL, he will be in the mix for a place in the T20 World Cup squad. One step at a time pic.twitter.com/Mtjt2c0HDB — DK (@DineshKarthik) April 6, 2022 Shastri mentioned that without Dhoni, India are looking for a finisher and the way Karthik has been performing, he will surely be on the minds of selectors. 'With the amount of cricket being played and with the injuries that can take place, if you have a good IPL season which I feel he is right in thinking in that fashion. He has started off really hot and if he has a crackerjack of a season, surely he will be in that mix. He has got the experience, he has got all the shots. There is no Dhoni in the side now so you are looking at a finisher as well," Shastri said on an ESPNCricnfo show. Fans on social media had mixed reactions to Shastri's viewpoint. Some agreed with him that Karthik should board the flight to Australia and play the World Cup while others criticised Shastri for dampening the 36-year-old's confidence during his tenure as coach by dropping him several times. However, he also said that if there's an injury to either Rishabh Pant or Ishan Kishan, then Karthik walks straight into the squad. Ishan Kishan proved his worth with an unbeaten 81-run knock but sustained an injury#IshanKishan #IPL2022 #DCvMI https://t.co/IFPMoyhqtP — CricketNext (@cricketnext) March 27, 2022 "But you also have to see how many keepers you want - there's Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant and now there's Karthik. And if there's an injury there, then he comes in automatically," Shastri added. Well, the T20 World Cup is too far away and before that RCB and the whole of Bengaluru will be cheering for Karthik to continue on his merry way and help them break the title jinx. 5. Rohit Sharma played a quick-fire knock of 44 runs in the T20I series opener between India and Sri Lanka in Lucknow on Thursday and in the process, he went past Martin Guptill and Virat Kohli to become the leading run scorer in the shortest format of the game. After his fine knock, Rohit now has 3,307 runs in T20Is while Guptill is at second place with 3,299 runs next to his name. Former India skipper Kohli is at third spot with 3,296 runs. Rohit's knock along with a special innings from Ishan Kishan helped India post a huge total after being sent into bat by Sri Lanka in the T20I series opener. The target of 200 proved to be too much for the visitors as they lost the match by 62 runs The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was quick to highlight the achievement by their skipper Rohit and posted a graphic on Twitter, congratulating the opening batter for the milestone. There has been a tussle going on for the top run-getter spot in T20Is for a long time now and almost after every series that India play, the top spot shuffles between Kohli and Rohit. Both players will return to the India bio-bubble ahead of the two-Tests against Sri Lanka. If Kohli plays the first match in Mohali, it will be his 100th Test for the country. He will become only the 12th Indian to play 100 Test matches for India. Another interesting bit is that both Rohit and Guptill have scored multiple centuries while Kohli is yet to reach the three-figure mark in T20 internationals. View the full article

While the Men in Blue are currently locked in a battle with the West Indies in the shortest format of the game, a report has emerged that will not please you if you are a Virat Kohli reading this. The former India captain is likely to be rested for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka. The first game of the three-match series will be played in Ahmedabad and the rest of the couple of T20Is will be played in Dharamsala. According to the same report, Jadeja is already under quarantine in Ahmedabad and if his Covid test results are negative, he might get picked for the series against the Lankans. 7. Rishabh Pant proved his worth as a leader by guiding Delhi Capitals to the playoffs in the absence of the regular skipper Shreyas Iyer who was ruled out midway through last year's Indian Premier League (IPL). Such was Pant's influence on the management that even when Iyer returned towards the later stages of the tournament, Delhi decided to continue with him as the captain of the side. Pant's leadership qualities saw him being elevated as India's vice-captain in the absence of KL Rahul who was ruled out of the upcoming three-match T20I series against the West Indies. Rahul and Axar Patel were ruled out of the T20I series and Ruturaj Gaikwad, Deepak Hooda were named replacements. NEWS : Washington Sundar ruled out of @Paytm #INDvWI T20I series. After Pant's appointment as Rohit's deputy, Delhi Capitals took to Twitter to boast about the wicket-keeper batter's achievement. However, it backfired as fans used it as an opportunity to troll the 24-year-old. 15. Often labelled as one of the best batsmen in modern-day cricket, Virat Kohli clearly needs no introduction to the gentleman's game. His textbook strokes and ability to deliver consistent performances have not only aided Team India in dire situations but also saw him establishing himself as one of the greats at just the age of 31. The Delhi lad looked in ominous form last year, hammering the opposition to all parts of the ground during India's dominant home season. Carrying his fine form this year, his batting masterclass was key to India's success against Australia during their 2-1 win in the three-match ODI series. Even as India travelled to New Zealand for their next assignment, there seems to be no stopping to Kohli's artistry with the willow. His brilliant knock of 45 runs played a key role in India's six-wicket triumph in the first T20I at Eden Park. And, even as he missed out in the second match, Kohli continued his carnage in the third T20I. View the full article
  16. Sixteen years ago, a 19-year-old girl broke into the Indian women's Test side and a few months after her debut in the longest format she gave everyone a glimpse of her capabilities with a staggering knock of 214 runs against England in Taunton. A lot of time has passed by since then, but the legend of Mithali Raj continues to grow in international cricket. Ever since making her international debut in 1999, Mithali has established herself as India's most dependable batswoman, scoring runs in crunch situations and shattering one record after another. She is the highest run-getter in women's international cricket and the only female cricketer to surpass the 6,000-run mark in women's ODIs. As she turns 36 next month, Mithali now boasts of numerous records in international cricket. And, even if her role (other than aiding India with the willow and her leadership skills) has now transcended into grooming young and upcoming members of her team, there is just no stopping this workhorse. © Twitter/@ICC One of the most diligent servants of Indian cricket, Mithali has played a pivotal role in the rise of the women's game in a country that has, for long, obsessed over their male counterparts. From shutting down sexist reporters to disapproving comparisons between male and female cricketers, the Indian captain (in Tests & ODIs) has helped her teammates in carving their own niche in a sport dominated by men. The right-hander would have surely cherished every milestone she has attained in her illustrious career so far, but her latest feat is undoubtedly the one that is going to remain close to her heart and stay for long in the memories of Indian cricket fans. For those who thought that women's game lacked adequate level of competition owing to the limited agility of female cricketers, Mithali's recent milestone seems to be an apt reminder of what they are capable of. Plying her trade in the ongoing ICC World T20, Mithali didn't get an opportunity to bat amid Harmanpreet Kaur's spectacle with the willow. But the right-hander came into her own, smashing a brilliant fifty in the next game against Pakistan. India's clash against Ireland, once again, saw Mithali rising to the occasion with another fifty to her name. While her 51-run knock helped India beat the Laura Delany-led team and secure their semifinals berth, it also allowed the seasoned campaigner to notch up arguably one of the most influential milestones of her career. Mithali Raj tops an illustrious list of India's most prolific T20I run-scorers ðªð®ð³ 1ï¸â£ @M_Raj03 2ï¸â£ @ImRo45 3ï¸â£ @imVkohli 4ï¸â£ @ImHarmanpreet 5ï¸â£ @ImRaina 6ï¸â£ @msdhoni pic.twitter.com/SmQt9LjLzu — ICC (@ICC) November 15, 2018 As India reached the semifinals of the Women's World T20 for only the third time (and first since 2010), the Rajasthan-born cricketer continued to lead the list of top run-getters for her country (including men and women) in T20Is. Mithali, now, boasts of 2,283 runs in the shortest format for India, leaving behind the likes of country's more popular cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in the coveted list. While Mithali scored those many runs in 80 T20I innings, Rohit, currently placed second in that list, could only manage 2,207 in as many innings. Virat, who is currently India's third-highest run-scorer in the shorter version, has amassed 2,102 runs in 58 innings. The fourth spot has been occupied by Harmanpreet who has 1,827 runs to her name in 91 T20I innings. India's record run-scorer in T20Is, @M_Raj03, was on top form again with a half-century to help her side into the @WorldT20 semi-finals! Watch the highlights of her innings, delivered by @oppo #FlashCharge! â¡ï¸#WT20 #WatchThis pic.twitter.com/A4Tkj9BPJR — ICC (@ICC) November 16, 2018 Mithali's fifty against Ireland also saw her going past New Zealand's Martin Guptill who is the highest run-getter in T20I in the men's game. When it comes to top-scorers in T20Is overall, Mithali is only behind Suzie Bates (2,961), Stafanie Taylor (2,691) and Charlotte Edwards (2,605). © Twitter/@WorldT20 The same innings allowed the veteran Indian star to notch up 17th T20I fifty which also saw her going past Bates, Alyssa Healy and Pakistan's Babar Azam to record the most 50-plus scores in a calendar year combining both men's and women's cricketers. A cricketer, whether male or female, notching up a milestone is nothing new in the modern era of the sport. But, at a time when the women's game, after toiling away in obscurity for generations, is taking huge strides to change the dynamics of how people perceive it, Mithali's latest feat is more than just a milestone, it's a stark reminder of how far these wonder women have come, giving the celebrated male cricketers a run for their money. And, if that doesn't get them the respect and praise they deserve, probably nothing will.
  17. Virat Kohli is living up to the true meaning of his name. He is 'virat' and too big in his game now, is one of the finest batsmen the world has witnessed and can lead a pack with sheer determination at a young age. Of course, and when he is not on the field, he still manages to hit headlines with lady love Anushka Sharma. © Twitter Virat Kohli has now managed to make a new world record yesterday while playing against England in Old Trafford, Manchester. He is now the fastest batsman to hit 2000 runs in T20Is and has broken the record of New Zealand's Brendon McCullum. He is also the first Indian player to make this record. The other three players who touched this pedestal include New Zealand's Martin Guptill (2271), McCullum (2140) and Pakistan's Shoaib Malik (2039). It took Kohli just 56 innings to make this record while it tool Brendon over 66 innings to make the same record. The next in line is Rohit Sharma who is now just 19 runs short of making the same record. Our men in blue continue making us super proud!
  18. One of India's most talented cricketers and a major role model for our generation, Mithali Raj has unlocked an achievement that has not been touched by any Indian cricketer before. Before Mithali, only a handful of female cricketers have been able to achieve this feat, including Charlotte Edwards (2,605), followed by Stafanie Taylor (2,582) and Suzie Bates (2,515). Among the male cricketers, Martin Guptill (2271) followed by Brendon McCullum (2140) and Virat Kohli (1983 lead the pack. © Twitter Congratulations have been pouring in for Mithali from every corner of the world for her historic achievement.
