  1. Salman Khan doesn't follow the set patterns of Bollywood's rulebook and you might agree with us on this. He doesn't care if his movies are not given great ratings by the film critics because according to him, it's the box office numbers that validate any film. Salman Khan's latest release 'Bharat', which is an official remake of the South Korean film 'Ode to My Father', has turned out to be a lucky project for the actor. The movie is doing pretty well at the domestic market and is inching close to earning Rs 200 crores. The movie opened to mixed reviews from critics as some called it 'bland' and some termed it the perfect Eid blockbuster. But, none of these ratings affect our superstar, Salman Khan, in fact, he feels “scared” when critics praise his movies. In one of the group interviews, while promoting the movie, Salman said, “My validation comes from the box office collections... that the people have liked or not liked a film. It doesn't make a difference if someone (a critic) has given it so many stars (ratings) or ridiculed the film. It's their bread and butter. God bless them, give them two more (slices of) bread,” Salman said in a group interview. Asked how he feels when the critics give glorious reviews to his films, the actor said he is unable to wrap his head around it. To all the journalists who have interviewed me during #Bharat ... a big thank u to all... — Salman Khan (@BeingSalmanKhan) June 12, 2019 He added that he wants the audience to go to the theatres and forget about their life in general when they are watching his movies. Apart from Salman, 'Bharat' also stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Jackie Shroff, Nora Fatehi, Sunil Grover and Tabu. The movie chronicles important events that have taken place in the country after Independence. Have you seen 'Bharat'? Let us know in the comments below.
  2. You don't have to be an expert and crunch some numbers to realise that digital cameras are slowly becoming a thing of the past. All you have to do is go out and look around. You'll quickly realise that smartphones have taken over and not a lot of people are carrying around a digital camera to take pictures. Well, if that's not enough, here's a chart that was put together by Statista with the help of the information obtained from the Camera & Imaging Products Association (CIPA). The offices of CIPA, in case you're wondering, include Olympus, Casio, Canon, Kodak, Sony, and Nikon, and we wonder what do they have to say about the numbers. Just look at those falling numbers. © Statista As you can see, things haven't been looking all that good for digital camera makers since the numbers have significantly gone down after a little spike in 2010. That number, by the way, was the all-time high in camera sales of 121 million units. Putting in simple terms, digital camera shipments have dropped a whopping 84-percent since 2010. Last year, the sales were recorded at 19.4 million shipments, which is the lowest number since 2001. And we're not talking about just the portable digital cameras. The shipments of high-end interchangeable lens camera have also gone down. So, why is this happening? © YouTube Smartphones! Yes, it's a very simple answer. An increasing number of people have now started using smartphones to take pictures. They're more convenient and have gotten a lot better over the years, thanks to all the advancements in the field of smartphone photography. In fact, you don't necessarily have to splurge big bucks to get a good smartphone with a potent camera. Smartphones like the Redmi Note 7 Pro, Realme 3 Pro, etc. have proved time and again that you don't have to own a flagship phone to shoot great pictures. Of course, things will only get better as you drop more money, and flagship phones like the Huawei P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S10 are some great examples of that. We don't have a fresh chart with new numbers to show, but this one from 2017 does a great job of explaining why the digital camera shipments have gone down since 2010. Just take a look at the number of people using smartphones for photography. © Statista Around 85 percent of pictures were taken from, well, a smartphone. Astounding imagery offered in a compact form factor. And by the way, a smartphone can do a lot more than just make phone calls and take good pictures, so what's there to complain about?
  3. Shorts are one piece of clothing that men of all ages must have in their closets. No matter what the occasion, they can be a part of the ultimate outfit, no matter what sort of a fashion statement you are trying to make. And, if like Varun Dhawan, you have the physique and the legs to rock them, even better. Take notes, guys... 1. Dress According To Your Strengths © Instagram/varundvn Just look at him and tell us you don't envy that. You can't, can you? Varun, in these white ripped denims and white and blue trainers, goes on to show how you can flaunt your legs, as well as your washboard abs by dressing right. On a side note, who would've thought wearing denims to a gym would actually work? Kudos Varun, way to go! 2. Loose Fits Are Dope © Instagram/varundvn A loose-fitting pair is the key to a super hip look. Pair it with an oversized jersey, and matching trainers, and you have the ultimate athleisure trifecta. And if you can add on a sports cap or a beanie, well, that's the cherry on top of an ultra-hip athleisure sundae. Just make sure that the pieces you pair are loose-fitting, not overtly oversized. That just does not look good. 3. Consider Your Colours © Instagram/varundvn As awesome as Varun looks with his pet, his outfit simply takes the cake here. Pairing a denim jacket and pair of coloured shorts worked wonders for him. Add to that, the fact that his sneakers happen to match the primary colours of his outfit. That was just a masterstroke. We seriously suggest that you go for something like this for your next casual outing with your gang of bros. 4. Khaki Shorts Can be Funky © Viral Bhayani Earthy tones and hues do not necessarily have to be all sober and uncool. Case in point would be this distressed khaki shorts, that Dhawan pairs with a black suede jacket and flip flops. Looks perfect for a lazy evening spent around, or a casual dinner with your gang. What's more, because this look is rather simple and subtle, you can always add an element or two to funk things up a bit. Like Dhawan's flip flops. 5. Prints Are Fun © Viral Bhayani The pair of shorts that Varun wore to Sonam Kapoor Ahuja's birthday bash was a class apart, along with the way that he combined his outfit. A maroon shirt with embroidered and printed flowers, with a white denim shorts, with abstract print stains? Count us in. A rather cool and artsy look, the sombreness of the outfit gets offset thanks to the ragged edge of the short and the blue NHL cap.
  4. Here's something actually funny, although Mumbai police is not amused at all. Recently, while Hrithik and Tiger were on the sets a movie they're shooting for (the name isn't disclosed yet), Mumbai Police supposedly arrested two men who were suspected to be terrorists, from the set. © Twitter Well, the two men were shooting along with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shorff and had stepped out to the cigarette shop in their shoot attire. When the locals saw them dressed like how they were, they panicked and called the cops. The men were casually strolling around, casually dressed like bombers, wearing bullet vests, when Mumbai Police was called for aid. © Twitter For a lot of people this story may come off as actually hilarious, but for the police it wasn't really funny because it wasn't true. The Mumbai police took to their official Twitter account and actually denied coming and arresting the two men from the film set. In their Tweet, Mumbai Police wrote: Mumbai Police has not picked up any such persons. Kindly verify facts. https://t.co/vGOi2X3dYi — Mumbai Police (@MumbaiPolice) 30 May 2019 But honestly, if this did happen: After an hour-long search operation, #Mumbai police arrested 2 men suspected to be terrorists, but later turned out to be extras on the sets of Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's upcoming action film. #TV9News pic.twitter.com/o74uib9PQQ — Tv9 Gujarati (@tv9gujarati) 29 May 2019 It would have literally been the funniest peice of entertainment news right about now. But alas, the Mumbai Police did confirm no one was arrested, so we wonder what really happened then? Maybe they did come there when the locals called them in panic and after a thorough investigation, realised they were indeed not terrorists but the supporting cast of the film. Well, this only goes to tell us one thing. Don't believe everything you read on social media, even though it's the funniest thing you've read in the longest time!
  5. 'Game of Thrones' is over and the fans are sharing their disappointment with the last season together online and people who never watched the show are probably trying to find something new to brag about not watching. Among all the memes and theories and fans just analyzing and over-analyzing all the things that didn't make sense, someone asked a simple question - how would one sum up the entire plot in one tweet? Can someone please explain the plot/story of the entire #GOT series in a single tweet? — Amy Cuddy (@amyjccuddy) May 20, 2019 Well, considering the huge number of important characters and so many different and interesting storylines, it seems like such an impossible thing. If eight seasons weren't enough for a satisfying conclusion to the series, it's pretty hard to sum it up in like 280 characters. But, people never disappoint and fans came through with some answers that were pretty spot on. The replies actually had so much range. Some were proper like this - The worst leaders believe they are good and right. The best know they are flawed and despite having imperfections visible to everyone, they persist. https://t.co/kFbhnrjHUj — Cameron Sadler ð (@RulesByCam) May 20, 2019 And some were basically - Porn with Swordfights. — Half Eaten Chicken Sandwich (@ChickenHalf) May 20, 2019 William Shatner gets it. Emphasis on the hot mess and a big disappointment. Craycray incestuous family rules 7 kingdoms. Baddies from the north invade so most put away their differences to fight together. After winning they go after the craycray Queen who didn't help them fight and everything ends up in a hot mess and a big disappointment. The end.ð https://t.co/IA9qHeJCLE — William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) May 20, 2019 Literally. The lone wolf dies, but the pack survives. I boy is thrown out a window, turns into a bird then lands on a throne. — Aristotle Full Throttle (@AristotleDreher) May 20, 2019 Guess I'm lucky then? People with powerful ambition and poor impulse control explore the intersection of lust, greed, and fear. In the end, they laughed at democracy and the electoral colleges chose Google Search to sit on the throne. #gameofThrones — Masti Lashkari (@mastilashkari) May 20, 2019 I like this as well. 6. Well, we're pretty sure you're sick of all the unfortunate news surrounding PUBG Mobile during the course of the last few months. From people getting arrested to some of them even losing their lives, we've literally seen it all. As it turns out, even Tencent Games (developer of PUBG Mobile) is tired of all that bad press and has introduced a new feature to curb gaming addiction. Yes, the developers have introduced a new feature called 'Gameplay Management' that seeks to restrict how much young users are allowed to play the game. © PUBG With this new feature in place, the players who mark themselves as under 18 will receive an advisory when they start the game saying “those under 18 should avoid over-engaging”. In addition to that, the game will also send pop-up alerts at intervals telling them to put down their phones and take a break. Much needed, isn't it? In an official statement, Tencent Games manager Vincent Wang said, “Our team wants to ensure our community is equipped to make informed choices when it comes to 'PUBG Mobile. It's our proactive step in ensuring that hundreds of millions of players worldwide can continue to enjoy 'PUBG Mobile' in a sustainable manner." This new 'Gameplay Management' feature has already been deployed in countries like Indonesia, India, Nepal, the UAE, Kuwait, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. We hope it arrives in other countries soon too. © PUBG We aren't seeing this feature for the first time, BTW. The Chinese version of PUBG Mobile already had a similar feature that restricted young players to spend too much time in the game. In fact, it's said that the Chinese government had even provided Tencent with limited access to the national citizen database so they can verify a particular person's age. Anyway, we really hope this new feature proves to be useful and the young players manage to take some time off the game.
  7. Warning: if you haven't seen 'The Bells', that is Season 8 Episode 5 of 'Game of Thrones', you probably shouldn't read ahead. But if you have, you might share the same feelings about the episode that I do. The episode was so underwhelming when it came to the defining deaths of the significant characters of the show. I mean, one of the reasons we got hooked onto 'Game of Thrones' in the first place were the surprising deaths and the sheer brutality with which they take place. Remember, the execution of Ned Stark that started it all for us? One of the most awaited deaths this season without a doubt was Cersei Lannister's. That woman was brutal, her conniving secret plots that were carried out ruthlessly throughout the series had us invested in her death to avenge what she's done to the Starks among other families. And look, it's not like GoT is not capable of brutal deaths. We loved the way Geoffery was killed and the burning of Sept was surprisingly satisfying despite Tommen's death. But for their swan song, GoT has been pulling off some very un-GoT like things, it seems. Cersei's death, with a roof falling on her with her lover/brother in her arms is definitely a two at best on a scale of 0 to 100. And I might sound like a sadist when I say this but I was relieved to find out that folks on Twitter share the sentiment with me. Here are the best reactions to underwhelming deaths of lover twins Cersei and Jaime. 1. Who knew rocks would hold the beer. Arya: “Im going to kill the Queen, she on my list, Cersei is mine! 𤔠Random rocks: pic.twitter.com/cRcSuaJGXu — Kevi ð (@KeviSkillz) May 13, 2019 2. YES! What was that about? YEARS of waiting just to see Cersei die in the most vanilla way possible #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/IiAP2IZZSG — Stark(s) fan account (@Frank_Profound) May 13, 2019 6. So are we. Hold tf up, Catelyn Stark got her throat sliced and all that happened to Cersei was rocks falling on her?? IM LIVID #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/KyopXeCA6R — Danielle Svenson (@DSvenson3) May 13, 2019 7. Disappointing, I tell you. Everybody watching how Cersei went out: pic.twitter.com/Nkd5t70gKH — Jemele Hill (@jemelehill) May 13, 2019 8. *nodding head in agreement* so they destroyed daenerys' character, led jaime back to cersei, and tried to make cersei seem like the victim in all of this. i want a refund on all the time and energy i invested into this show #GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/fbsD9xlN7e — dominique (@exhaIecabello) May 13, 2019 9. A big one, it seems. NOT THEM PLAYING THIS BULLSHIT SOFT MUSIC FOR JAIME AND CERSEI. THEY WANT US TO FUCKING FEEL BAD FOR CERSEI LANNISTER DYING JUST SO THEY CAN VILIFY DAENERYS TARGARYEN? IS THIS A JOKE? #Gameofthrones — bri (@lceandfire) May 13, 2019 10. This is messed up. I love how Cersei sent bronn to kill Jaime and probably assumed he was dead this whole time but when he showed up she was SO CONCERNED to see him wounded — ginmo (@rmkgm) May 13, 2019
  8. Google announced a bunch of cool new Android Q features last night during the Google I/O 2019 keynote, and the update is now available for a bunch of smartphones. But before we check out the list of phones that will receive the update, here are all the cool new features of Android Q: Live Caption © YouTube Live caption feature, as the name suggests, will put an end to your subtitle woes. Yes, Google has revealed that this particular feature will take the words spoken in a video and display captions in real time. Live caption feature is not limited to just the videos you watch on, say, YouTube or Netflix, it can even show you captions in a video you've taken on your phone or any videos which you've received on WhatsApp, etc. So cool, right? Dark Mode © YouTube Yup, Android Q is getting a system-wide dark mode called 'Dark Theme'. So, the dark mode, besides making your phone look cool, can also help you get a little more juice out of your phone's battery. On Android Q, you'll be able to enable the dark mode by simply switching a toggle. New Gesture Navigation © YouTube Gesture navigation is something which Google had introduced with the last version of Android, but now, it's going all in. Honestly, we think it's very similar to the gesture navigation which we have on the iPhones. Here's how it works - In Android Q, there's now a thin, long white bar at the bottom instead of the 'pill and back button combo. You can simply swipe up from within an app to go home or swipe up and drag across to go into the multitasking view. To get to the app drawer, you can just swipe up from the home screen. To go back to the previous screen, you can swipe in from either side of the display. Yes, the new gestures on Android Q are very similar to Apple offers on the new iPhones, but it's not necessarily a bad thing because the iPhones gestures are fluid and they work like a charm. Permissions and Privacy © YouTube Much of the Google I/O keynote last night was about security and privacy features. Yes, Google seems to be taking the user privacy very seriously, and it shows with this new build of Android. The company has added a new 'Privacy section to settings, which will have a mix of different settings to let you take control of your privacy. There's a lot of ground to be covered in this section, but the gist of it all is that Google is very serious about user privacy and it wants the users to be on the front and centre of it all. Focus Mode © Google Google already introduced an extensive set of features to keep you away from the phone under the 'Digital Wellbeing' tag last year with Android P. Well now, the company is adding a new feature called 'Focus Mode'. This new mode is just like Do Not Disturb feature, except you'll be able to pick the apps that you find distracting or tempting, and shut them down for some time. It's a simple idea, but we think it'll users be more productive. Apart from the aforementioned features, Android Q brings a lot of other new things like Parental control, changes to notifications, the way the security updates are handled, and more. List of phones that can enrol in the Android Q beta - · Google Pixel 3, 3XL · Google Pixel 3a, 3a XL · Google Pixel 2, 2XL · Google Pixel, XL · ASUS Zenfone 5Z · Essential PH-1 · Nokia 8.1 · Huawei Mate 20 Pro · LG G8 ThinQ · OnePlus 6T · Oppo Reno · Realme 3 Pro · Sony Xperia XZ3 · Tecno Spark 3 Pro · Vivo X27 · Vivo NEX S · Vivo NEX A · Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G · Xiaomi Mi 9 If you have any of the devices mentioned above, you can now enrol for the Android Q Beta and check out all the new features.
  9. It's pretty hard to keep up with acquisitions in the tech world. A lot of companies change hands constantly, so it becomes very difficult to keep a track of everything that's happening. And in Apple's case, it's even more complex, because it's picking up companies all the time and Apple doesn't always tell the world when it buys another company. According to Tim Cook, Apple is always on the lookout for new companies. In fact, he told CNBC last week that Apple purchases a new company every two to three weeks on average. Yes, that's a lot of companies. © Reuters Cook noted that Apple bought between 20 to 25 companies in the last six months alone. Of course, not all of them are huge acquisitions. In fact, you might not even recognize some of the companies. But who's going to stop Apple from throwing all the money? It's said to be sitting on over $200 billion of cash after all. Anyway, here's a short list of companies Apple has acquired since November: · Laserlike · Stamplay · PullString · DataTiger · Platoon · Silk Labs Well, let's hope Apple will end up acquiring some good companies and come up with more innovative products for us consumers. 11. Vicky Kaushal needs no introduction. His brilliant performance and choice of films work as his business card for him. After proving his mettle to the world, the actor is now all set to take up another challenging role. Kaushal will play legendary freedom fighter and martyr, Sardar Udham Singh in his upcoming biopic. The movie will narrate the story of the revolutionary who assassinated Michael O'Dwyer, who was the Lt. Governor of Punjab when the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place. Instagram Today, the actor shared his first look from the movie where he is seen standing on the streets of St. Petersburg, with a fierce gaze (that can scare the wits out of you) and a scar on his face. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, the biopic is expected to release in 2020. As Vicky Kaushal gears up to stun his fans with another stellar performance, here's a look at some of his best movies so far that made us shout 'How's the Josh?' each time we watched him on screen: 1. Uri: The Surgical Strikes The amount of love this movie has received speaks volumes about the brilliant acting of Vicky Kaushal and that of every other actor who was a part of it. After all, there is a reason why 'How's The Josh?' became such a huge thing and almost everyone was using the dialogue. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film was based on the Indian Army's surgical strike across the Line of Control (LoC), as a retaliation to the 2016 Uri attack. RSVP Movies 2. Manmarziyaan Kaushal played the role of a guy named Vicky, a handsome part-time DJ who loses his girlfriend to another guy because of his commitment issues. This movie explained the dynamics of a relationship and love like nothing else. Phantom Films 3. Sanju Vicky Kaushal's character Kamlesh, aka Kamli, wasn't just a supporting character. He was one of the strongest characters in the film and in Sanjay Dutt's life. He stayed with Sanjay Dutt through thick and thin and continued to support him even when the world turned against him. Vicky's flawless performance made all of us feel that both Kamli and Vicky are the kind of friends that every person deserves in their lives. Fox Star Studios 4. Raazi 'Raazi' was owned by Alia Bhatt, but Vicky Kaushal too caught our attention with his portrayal of Iqbal Syed, a commander in the Pakistan army. His struggle of choosing between his feelings for his wife (who was an Indian spy) and his duties towards his country touched all our hearts. Dharma Productions 5. Masaan Vicky made his Bollywood debut with 'Masaan' in 2015 and his performance left even the stalwarts awestruck. 13. It's 'World Book Day' today which was originally an initiative by UNESCO back in 1995 to promote reading. Books are the friends and lovers we choose to seduce us into an insane level of intimacy, away from the madness of this world. Being a bibliophile myself, I decided to ask my fellow wonderful, equally book-crazy writers to list out that one book which they love for a million reasons and why they'd recommend it to anyone out there. Here's the result of my interesting conversation: 1. Palace Of Illusions By Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni- If mythology inspires you and you savoured reading the 'Mahabharata', then this beautiful book is a good follow up read which takes you on a journey in time where our heroine is none other than the mighty Draupadi herself. “Divakaruni gave a voice to an iconic mythological character Draupadi who was wronged by her family as well as the society on many levels. But to have her side of the story, and watch her turn the events around to avenge her own humiliation was a welcome change and an inspiring read. “ – Devlina Datta View this post on Instagram So much has been written about this book over #bookstagram, it is one of the most important books in the #feminism category. An Indian female who married 5 Brothers but was still called a #DevouteWife (Pativrata) is a huge deal even in 21st century. It's this aspect which made Mahabharat stand out as an #indianepic. Moreover this retelling of the epic is from the point of view of the female protagonist. What I loved the most about this retelling was that no efforts were made to portray her as #perfectwoman. She had her flaws, her Desires. She felt anger, hatred and jealously towards people surrounding her. She threw tantrums and had her ways sometimes. Yet through all these flaws she always realized his mistakes, she was aware of the wrongness of her desires, she knew the consequences of her actions and took responsibility of those. These are the characters which make her a #perfectprotagonist according to me. Well if you haven't read this book yet, you can join #mumbaibookstgram where this is selected as #bookofthemonth. So I read this book in the month of April but just couldn't post about it or review it as have been going through a weird phase where am not able to write. It's becoming increasingly difficult to pen down the thoughts about anything. Have any of you faced such a issue?? How did you overcome it?? Please help me out as am still struggling through it. #palaceofillusions #chitrabanerjeedivakaruni #picadorbooks #retellingofmahabharata #retellingofepic #draupadi #panchali #indianbookstgrammer #crosswordbookstore #bookstagramprompt #BookstagramPost #unitedbookstgram #booktrovertsgirlgang A post shared by Mihika Sawant (@mihika_thebibliophile) on Jun 27, 2018 at 12:06pm PDT 2. Lord Of The Rings By J.R.R Tolkien- This epic fantasy adventure series is loved by millions of people across the globe. If an epic fantasy is your choice of genre, then you shouldn't miss it. “It's the father of all fantasy books, complex characters with individual stories, best story arcs. The world created by Tolkien has numerous characters with their own histories, languages. The death of Boromir is probably the strongest moment I've experienced in all fiction.” - Akshay Bhalla 3. Mein Kampf By Adolf Hitler- This autobiography takes you inside the life and the brain of Hitler himself. Intriguing and gripping, this answers a lot of 'why's for all that he did, what he did. “Even though the intentions behind writing the book weren't ideal, Adolf Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' lets me understand how ideologies can lead a man to extreme measures for better or worse.” – Aditya Pandey View this post on Instagram 1925: Mein Kampf is published. An autobiographical work from Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf was dictated by Hitler to Rudolf Hess during his 264 day incarceration in Landsberg Prison for the failed Munich Putsch of 1923. Mein Kampf described Hitler's growing anti-semitic feelings and outlined his political beliefs and plans for the future of Germany. The atitudes and views presented in Mein Kampf broadly summarise Nazi aims in World War Two: total dictatorship, conquering France, expanding eastwards into Poland and the Soviet Union and the extermination of the Jewish race and others deemed 'impure'. #ww2 #wwii #worldwartwo #worldwarii #secondworldwar #worldwar2 #adolfhitler #hitler #nazi #führer #thirdreich #meinkampf #landsberg #germany #nazigermany #hess #swastika #1925 #onthisday #history A post shared by 1939-1945 Second World War (@worldwar1939_1945) on Jul 18, 2018 at 1:00pm PDT 4. Harry Potter & The Sorcerer's Stone By J.K Rowling- The first book in the iconic series, you either love it or you don't know a thing about it. This book is pure magic, literally. “I remember reading Harry Potter very sceptically for the first time in 4th grade. I was not really convinced with the concept of a boy and wizards and magic, as at the time I was going through my superhero phase. Little did I know, Harry and Hogwarts opened a whole new world for me, letting me see a version of myself that I did not even know I had. It powered my imagination to new heights and continues to impart knowledge to me to this very day.” – Marina Paulose 5. Shadow Of The Wind By Carlos Ruiz Zafón- This Spanish best seller is a beautiful, well-told fictional novel. “Just like the protagonist of Shadow of the Wind, Zafon's words resonated with my own coming of age at the time of reading the book. What helped was that I visited Barcelona later that year too and discovered Zafon's Catalonia through my own eyes. Highly recommended for everyone in their early 20s.” – Alshaar View this post on Instagram “Every book, every volume you see here, has a soul. The soul of the person who wrote it and of those who read it and lived and dreamed with it. Waiting For Godot By Samuel Beckett- This absurdist French play spells out an existential crisis like nothing else could. “I came across Waiting For Godot in my third year of college. Reading this absurdist play gave me comfort that there are people out there who question reality and the meaning of existence as we know it as I do. “ - Simran Arora 7. Harry Potter Series By J.K Rowling- This had to be more than once on the list because only a Potterhead knows the value of growing up reading this series which literally shaped and changed lives. No particular reason can justify it actually. You have to read it to believe it. “How often does it happen, that a book completely enchants you? Holds you captive in between its pages? Doesn't let you eat or sleep till you have gone through all of its magical pages with ravenous hunger? Not only did 'Harry Potter' do all of that to me, but it also made me laugh, cry, erupt in euphoric applause, and collapse into a ball in a corner with a sense of irrevocable loss - while I went through its multilayered, labyrinthine story-line. I read it quite late when I was no longer a child, but I was immersed in a world characterized by a sense of child-like wonder nonetheless, that made me believe in magic once more. I recommend it to every single person who can read, irrespective of whether they like fiction or not, because this particular book, in its inimitable brilliance, transcends the intricacies of genres. All I can say is that this book series will have a piece of my heart. Always. “ – Sowrav Bhowmik View this post on Instagram âCAMPAMENTO HOGWALMERIAâ NO TE QUEDES SIN TU PLAZA! *Campamento para niños de 12 a 20 años *Del 23 al 26 de junio *Localizacion: Cortijo rural Las Gachas, Cuevas del Almanzora #harrypotter #camp #campamento #potter #magic #magia #summer #verano #funny #youtube A post shared by Club Hogwarts Almeria (@potterhead_almeria) on Apr 23, 2019 at 6:37am PDT 8. The Complete Adventures Of Feluda By Satyajit Ray- Mystery fiction lovers already know and love this one! “I can safely vouch for 'The Complete Adventures Of Feluda' by Satyajit Ray as my go-to book even after all this while. My love for crime and thrill took off further while digging deeper into Feluda's character as this intense detective, but in all honesty, I consider myself Topshe—Feluda's nephew-cum-the narrator, assistant but at the same time the one with a sharp mind who would bravely jump into a case without thinking much about the consequences.” – Ipshita Kumar 9. On The Road' By Jack Kerouac- This is a beautiful read for anyone who is interested in a rich cultural book chronicling the travels of the writer himself across the United States “The novel was primarily an introduction to the 'beatnik' generation for me which was basically rich in culture, music and philosophy. I read it in college, where the protagonist was living a life against a backdrop of literature, travel and 60s jazz, something I'd envisioned on doing back then! I guess the book stuck as my favourite since.” – Sunaina Mullick 10. Picture Of Dorian Gray By Oscar Wilde- This book is confused to be a mere gothic fiction for many for honestly it teaches you so much about the philosophy of the human mind. “Gripping and enchanting at every level, it peels off layers of perception one might have about the human mind in general. It forces you to question the naked dark thoughts of your mind and if you'd ever be tempted to make a deal with the devil for your own vanity”. – Harshleen Anand View this post on Instagram Frumusete... frumusete... #oscarwilde #portretulluidoriangray #theportaitofdoriangray #doriangray A post shared by Oxi Cristi (@oxi_cristi) on Apr 22, 2019 at 11:07am PDT Which is your favourite book that changed the way you perceive life now?
  14. Election Commission (EC) is badass this year. They're banning people left, right and centre for good reason. Certain politicians have (ahem) a history of saying offensive and hurtful things. Remember the guy who blamed horniness of young men on street noodles? While saying whatever they like is usually admissible but during the election campaign, there are certain rules mandated by the EC that need to be followed. These rules have been undermined for years. However, this year in light of extensive campaigns and more access, courtesy social media, Election Commission has been proactive and we really appreciate them for it. Here is a list of ridiculous things that politicians said that got them banned for a short period, but that is also something. 1. Called the Muslim League a “green virus” that “caused the partition of the country” Yogi Adityanath, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader who is currently the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, made this comment among others in a speech that referred to the Muslim League a virus that “spread across the country to the extent that it caused the partition of the country". Adding fuel to the fire, he also said that the opposition party, Congress is “infected with the virus” and that “the Congress government used to serve biryani to terrorists and Modiji's army sends bullets and bombs their way,” which basically suggests calling around 14% of the Indian population a “green virus”. The EC had issued a 72-hour campaigning ban on him. 2. Commented on the opponent's underwear colour Senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan is contesting in Rampur against his BJP opponent Jaya Prada, a former member of his own party, in a speech said, “I brought her to Rampur. You are a witness that I did not allow anyone to touch her body. It took you 17 years to identify her real face but I got to know in 17 days that she wears khaki underwear.” BJP Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj compared it to the mythological character Draupadi being disrobed in the Hindu epic Mahabharata. But, more importantly, this comment triggered a response from the National Commission for Women, whose chairperson Rekha Sharma is requested the EC to bar him from contesting the election entirely. He too was issued a 72-hour ban for making comments considered “sexist and derogatory”. 3. Threatened Muslims to vote in her favour Sultanpur candidate and Union Minister Maneka Gandhi said she would win regardless. However, if Muslims didn't help her, she “will not feel good, because then there is a bitter feeling.” She also said, “If Muslims come for some work after that I will think, "why bother". She also said the most ironical statement considering her name is Gandhi, “We are not Mahatma Gandhi's children to keep giving without getting anything in return”. EC banned her from polling for 48 hours. It had issued a similar ban before to Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati after she asked Muslims to vote for her party instead of Congress to help them defeat the BJP. These are only a few of the things that have come to the limelight. What other ridiculous things have you heard during the election campaign?
  15. There isn't a better person whose ears we would like to talk off with our nonsense on any given day. No other individual we would rather share a beer with, or haul-ass with when being chased by the traffic cops for not wearing helmets. And definitely, there isn't another one like them who would stick around regardless of all the messy brawls, broken promises and cancelled plans over the years. © Vinod Chopra Films That is how it is with best friends, you will mess up more often than you would want to admit, give each other a hard time over a number of things, yet stick up for each other whenever it comes to you two against the rest of the world. And if you ask us, that is the biggest charm about having a best friend. You can be your best with them, but you can also be your worst, and they would still stick around simply for the “sake of old times” (no, simply because it's you). © Excel Entertainment That is exactly what two friends roaming the streets of Mumbai on a bicycle said about friendship, in not so many words. And that was all the inspiration we needed to fill your feed with a sappy, but heartfelt story on why we let our best friend(s) sweet talk us into the most stupid stuff and get away with it, all the freaking time. For now, read what these two friends of 15 years told Humans of Bombay about their adventures. You see, that is just how we have felt on innumerable occasions - after getting our asses whooped for being stupid enough to give in to each other's crazy ideas, with nothing to help us out of the soup we landed ourselves in after. Yet, regardless of the greatest mess we whip up together, there seems to be no going back after a point of time. We always seem to find our way back to each other, with or without the differences and all-out fights that plague us every now and then. © T-Series A 2009 study has also shown that most friendships last about seven years, anything beyond them and you can be sure that your best friend is here to stay for the long haul. Yet, it doesn't make sense why we always get “sweet-talked” into stupid shit when it comes to them. Actually let us rephrase that, why do we let ourselves be sweet-talked into stupid shit when it comes to them, even when we know full well that “it isn't a good idea”? © T-Series Consider these 5 reasons: 1. They Really Are Our “Brother/Sister From Another Mother”. Now you can't screw that up even if you tried, can you? Actually, you can. Don't date their ex. Just don't. 2. They Get You. As sappy as that might sound, it's a fact none of us can deny. Our best friend gets us in a way nobody else does, and this fact makes them so darn special. 3. You Get To Let Your Weirdness Out, Unapologetically. Think of the craziest, funniest and most ludicrous thoughts or ideas you ever came up with. Who was that one person besides yourself who knows about it, and is still friends with you? Yeah. © Rajkumar Hirani Films 4. You Care, Respect And Look Out For One Another In Your Own Way. There exists this unsaid pact that best friends always maintain wherein even when we can constantly berating one another, we still maintain a sense of respect towards them and look out for each other in our own way. 5. But Most Of All Because… You want to do it just as much as them because it's your friend and anything and everything you do with them is fun!
  16. Drones, the gadget denied to Indian enthusiasts by the DGCA, unless you are a wedding planner or photographer, is a heated topic in the country. While we may be debating the commercial use of drones in India, people in Australia can now get coffee and food delivered to them by our flying friends. © Pexels The company that is making the service a possibility is called “Wing” owned by Google's parent company Alphabet. The company has now begun delivering items to customers just outside Canberra, Australia's capital. The company has already tested the service 3,00 times in the past 18 months and is now ready to roll the service out for “eligible homes.” The service will be available in the outskirts of Canberra, namely in suburbs of Franklin, Palmerston and Crace. The company is already adding new customers and is expected to grow that number in the coming weeks and months. The company will start delivering over the counter items such as coffee, wraps, burritos and other smaller products. © Wing The key to the company's success is partnering with local businesses and merchants who want to get their products delivered to customers. The service is currently not at scale due to the nature of the project, however, it's a great step towards reducing emissions from traditional delivery methods. © Pexels Of course, we won't get to see something like this in India as we need special permission from DGCA to just own a drone or fly them in a specific area. In fact, if you want to know the precise rules of flying a drone in India, you can read our guide here. Until then, enjoy them drones at a nearby Delhi wedding where it showers you with rose petals!
  17. Summer months are cruel for everyone. Besides the heat and the sweat that comes along, you also have to deal with body hair. The crop gets annoying in the Summer. While the decision of getting rid of it is completely yours, you should know that you have options to get a hot bod this Summer that would attract a lot of lingering eyes and in a good way! We talked to women to find out how they prefer body hair on men. Before we begin, you should know that chest hair is, in fact, attractive, (obviously not in the excess bushy way that Anil Kapoor and Akshay Kumar advertised it as) but in a mild sheath sort of way and that can only be maintained if you groom it well. And we're not just talking about chest hair here, but also shoulder hair, back hair, upper back hair, hair on the stomach. So here's what women think: 1. Shoulder Crop © Getty Images "Winter might leave a layer of fur across your shoulders. But if you're planning to hit the beach or a water park, it's better to get rid of it," says Apoorva Sharma, 27. So, here are your options: you could shave these with the help of a professional or get them waxed if you have good pain tolerance. However, if you shave, the hair might pop back up even thicker. So you could also consider getting them trimmed too which is faster and hassle free but you'll need assistance. 2. Chest Hair © Getty Images "I don't mind chest hair at all, as long is it's not in volumes that make it hard to see the chest underneath. Grooming chest hair is always appreciated," says Divya Arora, 22. The 'très bon' technique to groom the chest hair has been hotly debated for years. There's no one way to groom your chest hair. From a smooth care chest, to the bush and the light crop in the middle, there are different ways in which you could groom your chest hair. So really, it's entirely up to you. Waxing works great if you want to go bare-chested for a longer duration but if you can't handle the pain, you could consider more permanent options like laser. An electric trimmer could also work if you don't mind cropped strays. In fact, these cropped strays add a touch of authenticity and work best for emergencies(like an unplanned hook-up night). 3.The Nape Strays © Getty Images "I don't mind body hair at all except the hair that pops out of the back of the shirt, that is a turn-off," says Ruhi Sarkar, 25. In contrast to your chest, there's no question at all as to what to do with unwanted outcroppings of the nape: get rid of them. These pop out of basically everything that doesn't have a collar attached to it and not in a good way. Shaving's not going to do the trick here, at least not without complications. This time, though, your best course of action is to book an appointment with a professional, as ripping the hair out from the root will help to keep them at bay for longer otherwise get the same professional to trim them because there's no way you can reach all of them. 4. The Stomach Fur © Getty Images "It's a little odd to see the if the chest hair is groomed but the stomach hair is left out, I personally think all body hair should be groomed uniformly," says Vani Kapoor, 28. Follow the principle of uniformity. Assuming that you're grooming your pubic hair, in the very session make sure to groom hair on the stomach as well. Uneven growth looks odd visually. The easiest way out is trimming them out. 5. Butt Hair © Getty Images "I love beach bums. They're even more attractive if men groom before wearing swimsuits," says Radhika Bedi, 25. The stubble on your butt cheek and butt crack could look better in a swimsuit if you groom it. You could get rid of it with a trimmer or going to the salon and getting professional help which always eases the job.
  18. Last year, Apple introduced the iPhone XR, an 'affordable' iPhone that shared many of the same hardware features as the more expensive XS and XS Max. The iPhone XR turned out to be our favorite iPhone of the bunch last year, and you can read our review here. Now, Samsung has launched the new Galaxy S10e which follows the same footsteps. The Galaxy S10e is a compact phone that shares a lot of hardware advancements added in the standard Galaxy S10 and the S10 Plus. So, we decided to compare them & find out which one's a better affordable flagship. Here's how they compare: Display © YouTube Samsung's Galaxy S10e features a 5.8-inch 2280 x 1080 OLED display, whereas Apple's iPhone XR sports a 6.1-inch 1792 x 828 LCD display. Both, on paper and in the real world, the Galaxy S10e is a better-looking display. Samsung's OLED is crisp, bright, and vibrant, just like any other flagship phone's display. That's not to say that the iPhone XR's display is bad by any means. It's one of the best LCD panels around, but it can't quite match the OLED display. When it comes to the cutouts, the Galaxy S10e has a punch-hole design, which Samsung likes to call an 'Infinity-O' display. The iPhone XR, on the other hand, uses the same notch as the iPhone XS and the XS Max as it packs the same FaceID system. Both are equally intrusive when it comes to content consumption like videos, etc. but again, the Galaxy S10e display's looks more modern and just better in person. Winner: Samsung Galaxy S10e Performance © YouTube The iPhone XR is powered by Apple's A12 bionic chip, whereas the Samsung Galaxy S10e model, which we used, is powered by an Exynos 9820 SoC. Apple's iPhones typically beat Samsung's when it comes to processor performance. Even the Snapdragon 855 SoC is no match. Of course, you won't find much of a difference in everyday tasks, but the A12 Bionic is a beast. As for the RAM and storage, the Galaxy S10e is equipped with 6GB RAM, double the RAM in the iPhone XR. It sounds like a small number of paper, but Apple is traditionally known to make better use of low RAM, thanks to the deep integration between hardware and software. When it comes to the storage options, the base variant of the Galaxy S10e comes with 128GB storage & the iPhone XR's base variant comes with 64GB. BTW, you can also expand the storage via a microSD card on the Galaxy S10e, but you can't do that with the iPhone XR. Winner: iPhone XR Biometrics © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla Apple's FaceID system is the best in the business, and seriously there's no match to it. Even the Galaxy S10e has a facial recognition system, but Apple's system is more reliable and secure. But thankfully, the Galaxy S10e has a physical fingerprint scanner on the side. Yes, it's a deviation from Galaxy S10 devices that have an under-display ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, but that's better because the Galaxy S10e's scanner is more fast and reliable than that of the standard S10 variants. Both phones, however, have strong points when it comes to biometrics. With the Galaxy S10e you get a physical scanner, whereas the iPhone XR has the reliable FaceID. So, you can't go wrong with either of them. Winner: It's a tie. Camera © YouTube Both the iPhone XR and the Galaxy S10e have scaled back on the rear camera to, you know, cut down on cost. However, the iPhone XR uses a single-lens camera while the Galaxy S10e has a dual-lens camera. The S10e features both wide and ultra-wide lenses, while the iPhone XR sports only a single wide-angle lens, with which it can also do portraits. We found both cameras to be equally good. With iPhone XR, you're looking at a typical iPhone camera with a very familiar interface. The images look very crisp, natural and true-to-life, which is always something we all can appreciate. With the Galaxy S10e, you'll get a typical Samsung camera which captures, you know, more vibrant and saturated (sometimes over-saturated) images, which one may or may not necessarily like. Unlike the iPhone XR which has a software portrait mode that doesn't work pets, food or anything but people, the Galaxy S10e can handle it all. It doesn't have any limitations. Add an ultra-wide lens to that, you have a very capable camera in your pockets. Winner: It's a tie, again. The Final Say © MensXP/ Akshay Bhalla Both the iPhone XR and the Galaxy S10e, as you can see, have ups and downs of their own. Apple is offering FaceID, the powerful A12 Bionic chip, great software/ hardware integration, etc. while Samsung is offering a dual-lens rear camera setup, a great OLED display, and expandable storage. However, there are other things to consider like the fact that the Galaxy S10e is a more compact phone, it runs Android instead of iOS, etc. So, at the end of the day, it comes to personal preference. But if you want to an affordable device that packs all the modern day tech, then you really can't go wrong with either of them.
  19. Almost all the Apple Products come with one year warranty against manufacturing defects and hardware failures. If you send in your defected device that's under warranty, then Apple will repair it, or in same cases, even replace it with a new one. Yes, the company is known to be very generous at that. However, two Chinese students attending college in Oregon have scammed Apple by taking advantage of the company's repair policy. So, the con was very simple. Yangyang Zhou and Quan Jiang, two engineering students allegedly brought in thousand of fake iPhones, sent them to Apple filing warranty complaints and got band new 'genuine' iPhones in return. The new iPhones were then sent back to their friends and relatives in China to flip for profit. © Pexels Yup, Apple, out of all the companies, fell for this con. But hey, you can't blame the company for being nice with replacement phones, plus these counterfeit iPhones have come to closely resemble the real thing, right? According to the prosecutors, the duo submitted a total of 3,069 iPhones under warranty claims, and got back close to 1,500 new iPhones as replacement units. With a loss of $600 per iPhone, Apple calculates that it lost close to $900,000, which roughly translates to about Rs 6.25 crores. The rest of the iPhones, in case you're wondering, were rejected for tampering, and they were sent back with letters explaining why the warranty claims were declined. The federal prosecutors have charged Jiang with trafficking counterfeit goods and wire fraud. Zhou, on the other hand, was accused of submitting false information on export documentation. The agents got tipped of this fraud in April 2017 when they opened five suspicious packages enroute from Hong Kong containing phones with counterfeit marking. In their defense, both students have claimed that they didn't know the phones were counterfeits. But, c'mon, no one's going to buy that.
  20. Powerbeats Pros is now official and was announced recently by Apple and will be the company's other true wireless earbuds. The new earbuds are said to have a better fit and sound quality when compared to the AirPods. The earbuds will be available this May; however, the new earbuds have already been spotted in the wild. © Twitter/Complex Lebron James was spotted sporting the new Powerbeats Pro at an event in Los Angeles. The picture was taken by Adam Pantozzi, a photographer based in Los Angeles. Apple has been known for giving out some of their products to athletes for better visibility. The Cupertino giant followed a similar strategy during the FIFA World Cup as many athletes were pictured sporting AirPods and Beats headphones. What's cool is that the company won the brand wars during the world cup without ever shelling out a single penny. You can read all about how Apple won the brand wars during the World Cup here. We can already see Apple following a similar strategy with the Powerbeats Pro as the wireless earbuds are targeted towards athletes and fitness enthusiasts. If you want to know more about Powerbeats Pro you can read all about it here. © Apple The Powerbeats Pro is expected to last longer than before and comes with Apple's new H1 chip that can also be found on the new AirPods. The H1 Chip enables the new AirPods to fire up Siri by simply saying the command “Hey Siri”. The better fitting design is also supposed to reduce sound leakage which has been a known issue with AirPods. The Powebeats Pro is expected to last for up to nine hours or up to 24 hours of playback time with the charging case. The charging case also has a fast-charging feature that can give the earbuds an additional 1.5 hours of usage after five minutes of charge.
  21. Apple Arcade is now official and the gaming service by the Cupertino giant is going to host a range of games that deliver great narratives and casual gaming at the same time. Every game will be playable on a range of Apple devices like the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and macOS. Each game will be playable offline which is quite different from what Google plans to offer with Stadia Each game that is bundled with Apple Arcade will be handpicked by the Cupertino Giant along with games that will be co-funded by the company. Most of these games will take advantage of Apple's A12/A12x Bionic chip to deliver a seamless experience. We decided to detail every game that we know about that will be coming to Apple's gaming service: 1. Team Sonic Racing © Sega 'Team Sonic Racing' is a kart racing game similar to 'Mario Kart' and has been in development for every console out there. Having said that, the game will also be coming to Apple Arcade where it will run with similar performance as its counterparts. Team Sonic Racing is a third-person racing game that will have power-ups, drifting and tricks. It also has co-operative gameplay which will be one of the marquee features of the game. Players will be able to play games offline with their friends in offline mode with local multiplayer support. 2. Fantasian © Apple This game is being developed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the Japanese developer who has also been responsible for many 'Final Fantasy' games in the past. The game is currently under development and has been made using 3D dioramas from real life. These dioramas are imported into the game and are being used as actual playable levels. 3. Oceanhorn 2: Knights Of The Lost Realm © YouTube If you loved the 'Zelda' series, 'Oceanhorn 2: Knights Of The Lost Realm' is probably going to be your go-to RPG adventure game on Apple Arcade. The sequel has better graphics than its predecessor, more exploring, sword fighting and loots to discover. The first title in the series is already a fan favourite and it seems like the second game will be the star attraction of Apple Arcade. 4. The Artful Escape © YouTube The Artful Escape was initially going to be an exclusive for Xbox One and PC, however, it seems like the game will also make its way to Apple Arcade. The game was shown off at the reveal event and is one of the most beautiful platforms anticipated this year. The game is about a musician who is on a path to discover more art and music during his journey. Expect some awesome music and art style as the teasers already look awesome. 5. Yaga © Romanian Game Developers Association 'Yaga' is already available to play on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, however, the game will also be a part of Apple's new gaming service. It's a traditional third-person action RPG that has a unique art style and a compelling narrative. The game also features choice-based narrative which makes 'Yaga' one of the most exciting titles coming to the Apple Arcade. 6. The Bradwell Conspiracy © Steam This game is very reminiscent of 'Firewatch' where your character will interact with the environment to reveal the narrative of the game. It's a first-person adventure game where you need to escape from a facility where you are stuck due to a disastrous explosion. Your only point of contact is a fellow survivor called Amber where you must escape together by interacting with each other. 7. Enter The Construct © Apple This game is probably one of the more serious hardcore shooter games that are based in a sci-fi world. The game is currently under development for the platform. We don't know much about this game, however, the game does look like a promising title for the platform. 8. Hitchhiker © Hitchiker Game Yet another action adventure game that got us excited because of its simplicity and art style. You play the character of a hitchhiker where you will discover more information about yourself as you play through the story. You will interact with random drivers and discover about yourself through conversations and random items you find in the world. Apple Arcade will launch this fall as many of these games are still under development. There are plenty of other games that are coming to the service from developers such as Disney, Konami, Lego, Cartoon Network and Platinum Games, the same developer responsible for the 'Bayonetta' series.
  22. We adore Aparshakti Khurana not just for his acting skills (which are brilliant by the way, have you seen him in 'Stree' or 'Luka Chuppi') but also his fluid fashion choices which have never failed to surprise us. Recently, he was spotted wearing a Dhoti with Balenciaga shoes and an interesting 6 and half ft Off-White belt. Recently, Aparshakti was spotted along with his sister in law, Tahira Kashyap. Now, he probably was coming from the gym because he was spotted wearing a pair of super airy joggers with zippers that cover the entire length of their joggers. They're mean zippers that start at the ankle and can unzip till the top. © Viral Bhayani The great thing about these trousers is the fact that you won't feel hot and restricted in these joggers and if the hot Summer heat decides to bite you, you could always unzip them till your knees and voila, you won't feel hot anymore. © Viral Bhayani © Viral Bhayani It's time that men start experimenting with fashion that makes them comfortable but is also versatile at the same time. And thanks to actors like Aparshakti Khurana, we finally have inspiration that we can take with us.
  23. Amidst the heat of elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been accused of stealing a template for its party's new website. A start-up, W3Layouts, has alleged that the party used their template but deliberately removed the backlink. W3Layouts also alleged that the party had removed the code wherever W3Layouts' name was mentioned as soon as the matter was brought to light. The company published a blog post explaining the matter and even posted a series of tweets exposing the whole debacle. Why Removed author information from css ?? But it is available at https://t.co/PyHj2HymCG pic.twitter.com/Nih9cFJe85 — W3layouts (@W3layouts) March 22, 2019 “While the visible backlinks were removed, it was clear that BJP was still using the W3Layouts code as it was evident in the source code of the page,” one of the tweets said. After a few days of back-and-forth banter, BJP decided to take down the code from their website. In response, the party said, “It was a free-to-use application. Their code was dropped after they insisted on a backlink, as it is not something we do in the normal course. We had in fact offered to mention their name but since it didn't find favour, we preferred to work with the alternate solution. We are not using their template.” © Twitter Although the matter has been settled with BJP dropping W3Layouts' template, the start-up founder stressed that the license agreement was clear. He said, “You are not allowed to remove back-link to W3Layouts in a template unless you have paid for the template.” Both the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have decided to remain tight-lipped on this matter. In fact, the PM has found himself facing flak for using selling #MainBhiChowkidar merchandise on his Twitter handle.
  24. Have you ever imagined surviving on the internet without Google? Don't bother if you haven't, because it's not as easy as it sounds. I mean, just think about it for a minute. If you're using a Google-owned Android phone, then you're already out because that phone is probably one of the first things you check in the morning after you've woken up. Even a lot of iOS apps rely on Google's services. You take an Uber to work, you're using Google Maps data. You open Safari browser, you're again using Google's Search engine by default. In fact, even a lot of news websites, which you trust, run Google-owned ad services. © Pexels Look, I can pull out a lot of examples like this, but the point that I am trying to make here is that Google is everywhere. It's really difficult to avoid Google, and there's no easy way around it. That, however, isn't stopping a Reddit community from trying. A dedicated community which goes by 'r/deGoogle' on Reddit is filled with thousands of users trying to live a life without Google. The goal, apparently, is to try and avoid handing any personal information over to Google and its services. The subreddit, at its core, looks like a dumping ground for various links to apps and services which you can use without relying on Google. Think of the subreddit like a collection of 'tips and tricks' for surviving on the internet without Google. © Reddit - deGoogle Is it really possible to cut out Google from your life? The answer, unfortunately, is no. Yes, it's almost impossible to avoid Google without having a major effect on the way you use the internet. Between all of its products, Google has billions of users. Besides the Google search engine and other services like YouTube, G-Suite, etc., you're looking at Google's presence in other domains like artificial intelligence, fibre internet, and more. Heck, the company just announced its entry into the world of gaming with Stadia. Even if you manage to keep yourself away from these Google services, you're still relying on Google while using apps and services like Snapchat, Spotify, Pokemon Go. Why? Well, these services are all based on Google's Cloud platform. So as a netizen, you're relying heavily on Google in some way or the other. © BCCL Yes, it sounds a little terrifying considering how much Google knows about you and your day-to-day activities. Of course, there are ways to avoid Google and it's services up to an extent. However, if you choose to go that route, then you may have to make some serious alterations on the way you use the internet. In case you're interested, you can check out some ways with which you can cut out Google from your life here.
  25. There is something about footballers. Aside from fighting the battles on the field with every sneaky tackle and hefty pass, they also do it in a way that makes us want to emulate them. While, emulating their moves, might not be possible IRL, it is possible to show your loyalties in other ways. One of which is obviously is getting a hairstyle just like theirs. 1. Dele Alli © Twitter Dele Alli, the Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder, has a crop as carefree and flirty as the man on the field. This hairstyle is for boys with a curly crop. This is a low fade cut with crop unhinged at the top. Tell your hairstylist to shape the sides and leave the top. Also, you could use a conditioner to define the curls on an everyday basis. Use: An after shower hair cream that defines your curls and keeps the frizz away for the most part of the day. This cream should be your elixir in the Summer months. © nykaa 2. Harry Kane © Twitter England's super striker Harry Kane is arguably a player that has a way with details on the field and off it. His haircut represents that– a classic cut that really suits Harry's face shape and charisma. This hairstyle is not too short and blends seamlessly with the beard. Ask your hairstylist to use the technique of using a pair of scissors over comb for the sides in order to not cut them too short on the sides. And for the top, add a little length by giving the club cut up top to give some texture to the hairstyle. For everyday styling, blow dry it in one direction. Then, use some product to keep it in shape. Use: A mattifying hair clay that strongholds the blow dry and helps keep the quiff stay intact. © nykaa 3. Hector Bellerin © Twitter Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin can be spotted from a distance. The fine Spaniard is seen on the front row at London Fashion Week where his stunning mane makes a powerful statement. Firstly you should know that looking like Hector is not just about growing out your hair, but you'll also have to time your trimming sessions at the salon if you want hair as soft and bouncy as Hector. Split ends stunts the growth of the crop and make it dry and brittle. After achieving the length, for everyday styling: blow dry it over to the side to get that little quiff. Use: A sea salt spray to keep the frizz at bay giving a beachy-wave finish. © nykaa 4. David Beckham © Twitter David Beckham's hair is as popular as his on-field skills. This iconic man is extremely well put together. Noticeably, the one cut that everyone wants to cop is the short chop that he rocked at the Royal Wedding in 2018. The best thing about this cut is that it's easy-to-maintain and works great for the Summer months. Ask your hairstylist for a short back and sides with just a little bit of length kept at the front. He should then add texture by point cutting the hair. By nicely tapering the sides with a high fade. You don't need any product to keep this cut tame throughout the day. 5. Cristiano Ronaldo © Twitter Cristiano Ronaldo's crisp, firm cut seamlessly suits his finesse on-field. The interesting part about this hairstyle is the fact that this hairstyle's parting has been shaped by the trimmer. For people who have a strong jawline, this sharp cut works flawlessly. The fade goes all the way up high, short on the sides and then flick it back up top. The pomade adds to the cut. Use: A hair gel the smoothens and puts the top crop in shape. © nykaa
