  1. The Time's list of Most Influential People)is out and obviously, there are a few Indians who're making the country proud by being among so many incredible people from all over the world. Last year, Deepika Padukone, Virat Kohli, Ola co-founder Bhavish Aggarwal, and Microsoft's Indian-born CEO Satya Nadella were named in the list and it was great to see so. This year, Mukesh Ambani and lawyers Arundhati Katju and Menaka Guruswamy, who quashed Section 377, have made it to the list. Along with them, Indian-American comedian and TV host Hasan Minhaj is also part of the 100 Most Influential People. Anand Mahindra took charge of writing about Mukesh Ambani) and had nothing but praises for the business tycoon. He talked about Dhirubhai Ambani, Jio, and how Mukesh Ambani did keep all the promises he made. He said, “Mukesh Ambani's father Dhirubhai was a visionary in Indian business, whose Reliance Industries conglomerate pioneered ways of targeting global scale. But Ambani's vision is now even more ambitious than that of the father whose blessings he unfailingly invokes at the launch of each initiative. The scale of his Reliance Jio mobile-data network, which has already connected over 280 million people in India with low-cost 4G, is impressive by any standard. But what is truly jaw-dropping is the way it will allow Reliance to potentially dominate a staggering array of new businesses. When its enormous retail division is married to the Jio network for e-commerce, it will give Amazon a run for its money. When the media entities Ambani owns begin leveraging Jio, he could create India's default entertainment destination. The mind boggles at the possibilities.” Lastly, he said, “Back in 2003, Ambani promised Indians in a well-known advertising tagline that his company would “put the world in the palm of your hand.” It won't be long before he delivers on that promise.” Coming to Arundhati Katju and Menaka Guruswamy, the badass lawyers responsible for the decriminalisation of homosexuality and quashing 157-year-old Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code. Writing about them and praising them was none other than Priyanka Chopra. She said, “'I am what I am so take me as I am,' said the Chief Justice of India as the Supreme Court struck down Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code in a unanimous vote. An outdated legacy of the British colonization of India, Section 377 rendered all sexual activities “against the order of nature” punishable by law. This landmark judgment, overturning a 157-year-old law, was the outcome of a long-term campaign orchestrated by two amazing public-interest litigators, Arundhati Katju and Menaka Guruswamy. The fight has been hard. The LGBTQ+ community has battled on both legal and social fronts for decades-—for their fundamental rights, for privacy, for dignity, for safety and for love.” She went on, “Armed with a well-planned strategy that went beyond their well-researched legal arguments, Arundhati and Menaka became beacons of hope for the Indian LGBTQ+ community. Their perseverance and commitment led an entire community to a historic win by humanizing their struggles and giving them the freedom to love. As the Chief Justice said, “Constitutional morality cannot be martyred at the altar of social morality.” Arundhati and Menaka have helped take a giant step for LGBTQ rights in the world's largest democracy. In their committed fight for justice, they have shown us that we as a society must continue to make progress, even after laws are changed, and that we must make an effort to understand, accept and love. It is who we are as people.
  2. We're only half way through April and already sweating like a pig in the scorching heat, but for some people 'winter is here'. A winter that includes lots of dragons, swords, *** and brutal deaths. © HBO Just like most people, I too was waiting for 'Game of Thrones' final season to air. Not because I am a die-hard fan or something, but to laugh at memes and jokes that will probably make no sense to me, and yet are damn funny. Also, because I am done with the barrage of tweets and posts on my timeline, talking about the Starks, Lannisters, Jon Snow, betrayals, reunions, and the White Walkers. © HBO Yesterday, when I walked into my office, everyone was busy discussing the first episode of season 8. My friends stared at me in disgust that how can someone not watch GOT. I could hear the bells ringing and people shouting 'Shame' in the background. But, at least I had a good sleep since I didn't wake up at 6:30 AM to watch the episode. Plus, I can check social media to my heart's content, without worrying about spoilers and send spoilers to people I hate. Sadly, the GOT fandom couldn't infect me at all. How I'll sleep tonight knowing I've never seen an episode of Game of Thrones pic.twitter.com/tQXpXnnwrj — Ryan Schocket (@RyanSchocket) April 15, 2019 Honestly, I have never really understood the hype around the show. I won't lie, at one point I did give in to the cultural pressure of missing out on something more important than 'global issues'. I tried watching an episode (actually I was forced by my colleagues who probably run a GOT fan club), but I just couldn't sit through it. Not even for Priyanka Chopra's 'devrani ji'. © HBO But, what I did understand was that I am not the only one who has never watched 'Game of Thrones'. There are people like me who have never seen the show and probably never will, and neither do they care about who sits on the throne. AND looks like the society HAS accepted people like us. by not watching game of thrones did i miss out on a big cultural moment? probably - but none of you guys listen to enough jazz so whatever — Natalie Weiner (@natalieweiner) April 14, 2019 Ever since HBO confirmed the final season, internet is divided between those who watch it, and those who troll people for not watching it. If you haven't already noticed, tired of the GOT spoilers and hashtags, people started posting 'I don't watch Game of Thrones'. you guys really fucking love game of thrones. which is great. it is great to love things. I honestly thought it was the last episode ever or something, I've never seen humans so collectively excited. i am happy for you I really am. excited to find my game of thrones one day — christine teigen (@chrissyteigen) April 15, 2019 When you see your entire TL is talking about Game of Thrones but you don't watch it..... pic.twitter.com/xiDgUL8ykO — A R I A (@DuchyofSuccess) April 15, 2019 not at Coachella don't watch Game of Thrones can i still use twitter today?? — Shonduras (@Shonduras) April 14, 2019 people who don't watch game of thrones on the tl rn pic.twitter.com/zpAXdKSjN6 — antoine (@asxhaa) April 15, 2019 How I feel when everyone watched Game Of Thrones except me pic.twitter.com/r5dt1EJJmN — ~Quan J~ (@Qjacks13) April 15, 2019 Me retweeting Games Of Thrones spoilers cuz I don't watch it and I'm a terrorist pic.twitter.com/tVe5KSjCQD — Darnish (@ASVP_Dee) April 15, 2019 how do i block these game of thrones posts. i only hate GOT because of the cultures obnoxious obsession. i hate matted fur, winter settings, long beards, and dragons that are not of asian descent — ðð¶ðð¾ðð (@ariespotatohead) April 15, 2019 All 7 of us in the world who don't watch Game of Thrones should get together to not watch Game of Thrones every week while everyone else is watching it — Zach Wallen (@Zach_Wallen) April 6, 2019 Anyone not watching Game of Thrones: we're meeting in Times Square in a half hour to run the opening of "A Chorus Line." — Tim Federle (@TimFederle) April 15, 2019 My twitter feed lately: game of thrones golf half naked people at coachella old town road tiger woods random depressing tweet — gabby (@gabbyrking) April 15, 2019 I dunno why people are so jumpy about spoilers, everyone's Game of Thrones tweets are just completely inscrutable stuff out of context like "BOY HE BOUT TO DO IT" — Zack Budryk (@BudrykZack) April 15, 2019 I've only seen up to Season 2 of #GameofThrones, so I find this really annoying... pic.twitter.com/mEgdWpFZHj — Ryan N (@RNatEWU84) April 15, 2019 I didn't go to Coachella, I don't watch Game of Thrones, but I did file my tax extension, so I guess I exist? — Erica Rhodes (@ericarhodes) April 15, 2019 But, for every tweet from a non GoT person, there were at least 10 fans trolling them. running out of trophies to give to the people who don't watch Game of Thrones! — Audrey Porne (@AudreyPorne) April 14, 2019 People out here talking bout they don't watch Game of Thrones. I mean, someday we might have our own GOT moment and go batshit crazy over a show, but after seven seasons and S8: Episode 1, we can say it's not going to happen with this one.
  3. The anticipation for the final squad to represent India at the upcoming ICC 2019 World Cup is finally over as MSK Prasad, the chief selector, and Amitabh Choudhury, the BCCI secretary announced the list of players on Monday. Scroll down for the full squad. There were no big surprises in the squad, but Dinesh Karthik was picked ahead of other competitors vying for the number four role. The Kolkata Knight Rider will also serve as a backup keeper, behind the former captain and World Cup-winning veteran MS Dhoni in the squad. As a result, the popular youngster Rishabh Pant missed out on a berth to the United Kingdom. Without surprise, Virat Kohli will be leading the team from the front. His prolific form in the One Day format of the game has brought laurels to the Indian team and he would be hoping to push Team India's charge for a third World Cup trophy after the triumphs of 1983 and 2011. The opening duo of Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma fill the top two places. Added to the squad as a backup opener is KL Rahul, who makes it to the team on the basis of brilliant performances in the domestic season and off late in the Indian Premier League also. Coming to the number four spot, which has been a matter of concern for the Men in Blue for many months, all-rounder Vijay Shankar has been chosen to do the honours. Ambati Rayudu missed out on a berth and so did Rishabh Pant, who was a popular choice ahead of Karthik. Another all-rounder, Hardik Pandya made it to the squad with a sparkling showcase of his talent in the ongoing IPL. With some impressive performances in the recent past and owing to the ability to bag wickets in the middle overs, Kedar Jadhav has also really worked hard to earn this spot. In the bowling department, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal make the perfect spin duo for the Men in Blue followed by the experienced Ravindra Jadeja. The fast bowling unit comprises frontman Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Umesh Yadav missed out and India also chose not to go with a left arm pacer in Khaleel Ahmed. Full squad: Virat Kohli (capt.), Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul, Vijay Shankar, MS Dhoni (wk), Kedar Jadhav, Dinesh Karthik, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami
  4. The creators of 'Game Of Thrones' have come up with a pre-release treat for fans. With Season 8 right here, most people are anxious to find out who will sit on the Iron Throne and who is going to be slaughtered. With an unending supply of elaborate theories on the internet, it's hard to scour for the truth. But if you too, like us, can't wait to figure out how this season is going to pan out, then read ahead. Courtesy of creators of GOT, the pair David Benioff and D.B. Weiss helped create a new Spotify playlist, 'Game of Thrones: The End Is Coming', to accompany their show's final season—and even included hints as to how the beloved series will conclude. © Instagram “The answer to the ending is one hundred per cent hidden in the playlist choices,” Benioff and Weiss told a publication in an email. “No one will believe us, but it's true.” © Spotify Obviously, the intention was much more than to have their fans guessing who is going to die next. It was also about sharing their love for rock, metal, and several other music genres. The tracks that Benioff and Weiss added in the new playlist include: “Her Black Wings” by Danzig, “Sleep Now in the Fire” by Rage Against The Machine, and “Girl from the North Country” by Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan. This new playlist was made to get 'Game of Thrones' fans hyped in the last few days before the final season's premiere on April 14.
  5. Here's something funny to cure your midweek crisis situation. On the lightest side of humour, we have a sandwich place in Hong Kong called 'Sandwich Hub' that is written in the same way as 'Porn Hub' and has become quite an attraction for sandwich lovers in Hong Kong! © Reddit The tagline to the place reads: 'Sandwich that'll make you come' and I am not sure if it's a straight-up pun or they add a certain type of aphrodisiac to their legendary sandwiches, but whatever it is, this innovative way to sell food is surely gathering some eyeballs from everywhere. Reddit users were actually the ones who discovered it and put it up online and here's what they actually think! © Reddit The food joint serves some classic Indian dishes like Vada Pav, Dosa and Behl Puri as well. It's run by an Indian. Well, only an Indian will get such innovative business ideas I suppose! Well, I am not sure about you but Johhny Sins will surely have a great time here, in case he decides to visit! © Facebook So, in case you're in Hong Kong anytime soon, do give this place a shout. Maybe the pun is worth it, after all!
  6. It has not been even 10 days since the twelfth season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) began and already the rants about 'wrong decisions' or 'no calls' made by the on-field umpires are making the headlines almost every single day. Take Thursday's match between Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rohit Sharma's as an example, during which two such instances took place. In the 18th over of the match, one of Jasprit Bumrah's deliveries was considered to be wide even when it was well within the lines. If some one says the last ball was no ball... Then show them this pic. Umpire calls this as WIDE ð¤ Punch vs Punch...#MIvsRCB pic.twitter.com/RIwF2CQgDq — Ïñdïäñ Ïsräël (@ISRAEL36110664) March 29, 2019 After the match, Sharma made sure to talk about it. .@ImRo45: The ball which Bumrah bowled in the penultimate over wasn't a wide-ball as well. I hope they (umpires) rectify their mistakes as we do.#OneFamily #CricketMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians #RCBvMI — Mumbai Indians (@mipaltan) March 28, 2019 And then there was the 'no-call' on the final delivery of the game that caused RCB to lose it. Trailing by seven runs with just one ball to go, pacer Lasith Malinga bowled a 'no ball' by placing his foot over the crease but official S. Ravi failed to call it. On the other hand, these days almost every single appeal made by the players goes to the third umpire. From run outs to stumpings with even boundaries being reviewed at times, the right decision has to come from upstairs. The need for the players to have a right to challenge the umpires' decision was felt by the International Cricket Council and thus, the provision of Decision Review System (DRS) too came into existence in Test in 2008, ODI in 2009 and T20I in 2017. On the other hand, the reasons for keeping an on-field umpire have become weaker with more and more technological advancements being made and added to the game of cricket. The need to have a natural presence on the field to prevent fights and solve issues quickly are no more valid. Sure we have heard of technology like the hawkeye and snick-o-meter providing us with incorrect results, but when compared to the incorrect decisions made by the on-field umpires, the ratio is in favour of technology in massive ways. During a three-match series between Australia and the Windies in 2015 for example, it happened thrice that the on-field umpire's wrongful decision to give an out to the batsman was reversed after proper inspection by the third umpire following a DRS request. Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee had asked an extremely valid question back then that if the umpires had missed those three no-balls, what is the guarantee that they didn't miss many more that didn't result in wickets? In a tight game, such calls can be crucial. If there is a need to evolve the game to the next level, where the number of bad calls and errors are lesser than what it is right now, and the opportunity for every player to perform well must be equal, getting rid of the on-field umpires might as well be the final option.

  8. The entire nation cheered with pride when Indian Air Force (IAF) pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was released by his Pakistani captors to come back home and serve his country once again. From people in small villages to the Bollywood fraternity, every nook and cranny of the country was thrilled to welcome him back home, like a hero who'd just returned from war. © Twitter From people naming their newborns after him to some men aping his gunslinger moustache, everyone has been in awe of the brave pilot, whose presence of mind during his capture will always be remembered. Recently, some folks took to Twitter and raised notions about making a movie about him and also suggested that Ranveer Singh would be best suited to play him in the biopic! Fair enough, Ranveer with his rogue style and a definite moustache clash with Abhinandan can do apt justice to the role for sure. © Twitter While we're sure a movie will definitely surface on Abinandan's bravery, it's just a wait-and-watch situation as to when that happens. After all, we're eager to see who plays him. But for now, the audience seems pleased with Ranveer and here are some endearing tweets they've shared. @RanveerOfficial Why don't you try a Abhinandan style moustache. #AbhinandanMoustache — Pulkit Shah (@pulkitshahh) 3 March 2019 #SanjayLeelaBhansali to produce a film on Balakot airstrike.https://t.co/rJ1vOAQM6J — Filmfare (@filmfare) 4 March 2019 Now he'll cast @RanveerOfficial as Abhinandan — Mohammed Touqeer (@mohd_touqeer_) 5 March 2019 Ranveer Singh to Play "Abhinandan" in Movie Wo 56 Ghante! https://t.co/ZoaTB5z8ZB — sargamarora (@comsargamarora) 4 March 2019 You should enact Abhinandan when his Bio/ Pulwama attack movie will be made — Police (@snjay0) 3 March 2019 You missed one thing Ranveer singh to play the character of abhinandan varthman. — Pinkesh D Chawda (@ChawdaPinkesh) 4 March 2019 I propose that Ranveer Singh should play the role of #Abhinandan in the Bollywood movie about to be made - no one else can carry off that moustache. 9. Remember all the talk of AI-created video 'deepfakes' that so terrified us all? Well, there's a new deepfake AI around, one that's so powerful its creators - who are committed to open source - aren't even releasing it. Video Deepfakes Are Scary A year or so ago, AI developers came up with what is now known as 'deepfakes' - AI programs that could take snippets of video to create new, artificial, footage of an individual. It wasn't just the thought of cybercriminals using this to create fake porn footage to harass and blackmail people that terrified us all, but also the possibility of someone making fake hate speeches of politicians, national leaders, and others. This was considered so serious that even Reddit took action, while Google and other platforms also made it clear they wouldn't tolerate deepfake footage. But as with any other piece of tech, once it's out in the wild, you really can't do much. Text Deepfakes May Worsen The Fake News Problem But there's another area where deepfakes can be scary - news articles. And with a new text-writing AI around, so much could go wrong - imagine someone setting up a fake news website that wouldn't even need humans to churn out misleading articles. Or imagine a flood of fake Tweets, WhatsApp forwards, and Facebook posts that lead to consequences like civic unrest, stock market fluctuations, and even international incidents. After all, if the harder it gets to tell it's not been written by a human, the more likely it is that people can be fooled. You Really Can't Tell It's Written By An AI So here's what the latest fuss is all about. Researchers from the OpenAI group (founded, amongst others, by Elon Musk - though he's no longer associated with them), which carries out research into 'safe' and useful AI tech that can be shared with the world, came up with a new text generator, that can take a few sentences as a writing prompt to come up with a proper, lengthy post or article. However, (and not too surprising, to be honest), the text generating AI was so good, it spooked the researchers, who have refused to release it to the world! Meet GPT-2, An AI-powered Natural Language Model This Natural Language AI was trained on 40GB of data from across the Internet - utilising 1.5 billion parameters to analyse 8 million web pages! The dataset included outbound links from Reddit, and in order to maintain the quality of language the AI was to learn from, the researchers used just links approved by human moderators. The result? It's scary. Here's an example of GPT-2 saying recycling is bad: “...Recycling is bad for our economy. It increases the cost of a product, and in turn, the price of everything that is made with that product. Recycling is not good for our nation. We pay a tremendous price for the privilege of having the world's most advanced and efficient recycling system. Recycling is a huge, colossal waste of time, energy, money, and resources…” Yes, we know it sounds like something Donald Trump would write, but you know there'd be thousands (if not millions), who would take this seriously. What makes GPT-2 more powerful is that it's unsupervised - feed it a sentence and without any more guidance, it'll come up with an article! In fact, it's so eerily good at its job, it can even make up quotes! Here's an example of a story this AI wrote, on the topic of a train carrying nuclear materials going missing: “...'The theft of this nuclear material will have significant negative consequences on public and environmental health, our workforce and the economy of our nation,' said Tom Hicks, the U.S. Energy Secretary, in a statement. 'Our top priority is to secure the theft and ensure it doesn't happen again.'...” © techspot The Researchers Are Worried About This Being Used For Fake News Yes, the AI's creators are so worried they've refused to release their original work to the world. Instead, in a blog post, they make it clear that they'll only release a smaller sample: “... Due to our concerns about malicious applications of the technology, we are not releasing the trained model. If the Internet has taught us anything, this tech will either get leaked, or someone will use the 'limited' (no training code, no weights the AI uses to devise text, and none of the dataset it learnt from) version of this new AI to write something just as powerful, and just as scary.
  10. STOP THE PRESSES! There is a new fabric that is slowly but surely taking over the world of fashion. Harvested from cotton farms in the United States, supima cotton is an incredibly exciting fabric that actually represents only 1% of all of the cotton that is grown in the world. Simply put, here is a premium wonder fabric that all Indian men absolutely need to know about. Whether you were looking for the best trousers for men, the best round neck t shirts for men, or the best thumbhole t shirts, here is why you should ABSOLUTELY make sure that they are made using supima cotton to get the absolute most bang for your buck! 1. It's Almost Twice Softer Than Regular Cotton © The March Tee As T shirts primarily tend to be a summer outfit, your level of comfort when you put them on should ideally be of paramount importance. In fact, just how comfortable your t-shirt is going to be becomes even more important when you realise that, by and large, you are also going to be using them to layer up your outfits and create different looks. As such, investing in supima cotton, that happens to be twice softer than regular cotton, pretty much acts as a no-brainer. 2. All The While Being Four Times Stronger As Well © The March Tee Now in normal cases, when a fabric tends to be incredibly soft, it normally isn't able to make any tall claims about its strength. Well, the reason why many people consider supima cotton to be the wonder fabric is because you pretty much get the best of both worlds. Despite being a lot softer than regular cotton, it is also FOUR TIMES stronger than it. This also means that you don't have to fret over the durability of supima cotton. As such, if you want to wear the best t shirts for men out there, you should make sure that their fabric composition comprises of supima cotton. 3. The Length Of Its Fibers Is Longer Too © The March Tee Unlike regular cotton fibres, the fibres of supima cotton are actually 1.5x longer. This ends up causing two immense benefits. Firstly, the longer fiber resists pulling, breaking and tearing, making it a better investment on your end. And secondly, the longer fiber makes for a smoother and softer surface, ensuring that your comfortability is greatly enhanced. 4. The Colours Look Bolder © The March Tee Another largely underrated property of supima cotton? It actually absorbs colour better than regular cotton. Which effectively means that the best plain black t shirts for men, the best white t shirts, and more importantly, t shirts of solid colours need to be made of supima cotton if you want their colours to be long-lasting and not fade away after just a few washes.
  11. Who said social initiatives and a good round of tipples cannot go hand-in-hand? Social initiatives work to make our surroundings better, whereas booze makes everything...erm...better! Period. Imagine all the possibilities we could explore if these two aspects came together and the end result was a win-win situation for us all? That would be a living dream and seems like someone's already decided to look into this and turn it into reality! A beach bar in Goa has come up with the perfect plan to get people to take care of the busy beaches which are corrupted by the callousness of the umpteen visitors, who stop by on a daily basis and leave the place littered. © Instagram According to a report by The Weather Channel India, 'Waste Bar' offers free beer in exchange for the waste collected from the beaches. The aim is to make people aware and accountable for their surroundings. The campaign was started by Noreen van Holstein in collaboration with Drishti Marine, a private beach management agency that also works with Goa tourism to provide damage control to the situation. The initiative was kick-started on 30th January at the Zanzibar shack located in the Baga village. Apart from all the good you do to the environment by participating in this initiative, it also allows you to get around the Rs. 2,000 drinking fine by collecting 10 beer bottle caps or 20 cigarette butts or 5 plastic straws. This waste-bar in Goa is a hang out of sorts, where one can exchange segregated garbage for a free beer. Read more: https://t.co/cFShDuCjyJ ð¸IANS pic.twitter.com/mo2myMXGr9 — The Weather Channel India (@weatherindia) February 4, 2019 Holstein also said that the concept of the waste bar isn't a new one. Such initiatives had already been tried and tested in the Netherlands, and the world has picked up on the idea over the years. She said, “People come to Goa for two things: beach and the bar. So let's give them what they come for – free drinks in exchange for garbage that they collect. This ensures that they become conscious of the waste that is there on the beach and that trash actually has value! They will leave Goa with a positive feeling and a clean beach.” Other beaches around Goa are also set to pick up the concept in the upcoming months, but Twitter already has a lot of good stuff to say about it. This idea has great potential. Should be applied beyond beaches and beyond Goa. @MCGM_BMC — Niks29 (@Niks292) February 4, 2019 Now that's something India really needs to learn and should be proud of. #Goa — Avani Shah (@avani_16) February 4, 2019 Tks, waste-bar. Good luckð I truly hope that this exercise spreads message of cleanliness and hygiene among all the visitors in Goa. May all of us learn to become responsible & self-disciplined citizens. 12. When most of us were busy working in office or travelling to work, the interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal was deciding most of our finanicial fates, in the Union Budget 2019 that was presented today. While people were waiting with bated breath to see what's going to happen, there was something that none of us saw coming - announcement of tax breaks. People's happiness knew no bounds after Piyush Goyal announced full tax rebate for those whose annual income is up to Rs 5 lakh. Reuters Further, people earning up to Rs 6.5 lakh may also be relieved from the tax burden if they can show investments of Rs 1.5 lakh. Looks like Mr. Goyal's briefcase was actually a Pandora's Box that unlocked the ultimate happiness for the middle class public. After the budget was announced, people started having 'Lagaan' feels. Just like Aamir Khan and co. breathed a sigh of relief after they won the match and did not have to pay "Dugna Lagaan", people on Twitter too lost their calm after the tax rebate was announced. 13. Akshay and Twinkle are known for their funny and optimistic opinions all over social media and it's fun and encouraging to read through them from time to time. Recently Akshay re-tweeted a small video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where Modi was having an interactive session for students appearing in the board and other entrance examinations, telling them that there's more to life than just exams! © Twitter He was motivating students through an interactive session called Pariksha Pe Charcha 2.0. and Akshay Kumar could thoroughly relate to the video and what PM Modi was saying, and he shared it on his Twitter handle. The video was captioned as: "Something I related to... I was never good at academics but with God's grace, my parents' blessings and hard work, I think I managed pretty well. With exams around the corner, I would like to reiterate to students and parents, there is more to life than just exams." Something I related to...I was never good at academics but with God's grace, my parents blessings & hard work, I think I managed pretty well. With exams around the corner, I'd like to reiterate to students & parents, there's more to life than just exams.https://t.co/olZ0Bi1M6q — Akshay Kumar (@akshaykumar) 30 January 2019 I think this is a great example to set for the younger generation today, who are stressed beyond belief about the pressure that academics puts on them. If they have pertinent role models like politicians and celebrities reiterating the fact that academics and examinations aren't the only things that determine what life really is all about, then the impact is a lot heavier and students may find some relief reading these words from the people they look up to, in stressful times. © Pinterest Akshay too clearly reiterated PM Modi's stance on examinations and how they shouldn't build fear amidst students, and gave an example from his own life, where he wasn't good at academics but that didn't deter his path to achieve what he truly wanted too. I bet the students will find some relief and gratitude upon reading the national award-winning actor's words. © Twitter On the work front, we'd just like to say we love watching Akshay Kumar play a cop (and he has numerous times) and he's coming back as one once again, in Rohit Shetty's 'Sooryavanshi'. While Rohit is still deciding who the leading lady for the film might be, we already know Akshay is playing the lead of the ATS (anti-terrorist squad), in this drama-packed action feature. The shoot will start around April for this one after he's wrapped up two other projects- 'Good News' and 'Mission Mangal'. © Twitter Earlier, there was a row of rumours claiming Shetty's 'Sooryavanshi' is a remake of the Tamil movie 'Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru' and that he's bought the rights to the film too, but the 'Simmba' director dismissed these rumours and said that 'Sooryavanshi' is an original film. Well, that's to be seen in time, we suppose. For now let's just take some motivation from what Akshay has re-tweeted, in the wake of examinations looming upon millions of students.

Now Locana, a tiny beautiful ghost town in Italy near the Turin region, has yet again offered the same. The government there is offering around 9000 Euros to anyone willing to relocate. That's approximately Rs. 73 lakh but then there's a catch there as well. The amount will be paid in a period of over 3 years, and the prerequisite for this is that you must be married with a kid (they want to populate the place with families). “Our population has shrunk from 7,000 residents in the early 1900s to barely 1,500 as people left looking for a job at Turin's big factories,” Locana's mayor Giovanni Bruno Mattiet told a newspaper. 16. 2017's blockbuster hit 'Raazi' showcased Alia Bhatt's best work so far and there is some really good news concerning just that. Apart from affirming the fact that Bollywood is now more open to female-led protagonists, we're also really happy to hear that the Alia Bhatt-Vicky Kaushal starrer might just get a sequel and we're really looking forward to that now. © AA Films As you know by now the movie was based on Harinder Sikka's book called 'Calling Sehmat' and now, there are talks concerning a sequel to that book, which in turn will also lead to a sequel to the movie. The reports were confirmed by the author himself, while he spoke to a popular publication and expressed his desire to write a sequel to his earlier book. His first book, which was a heavy inspiration for 'Raazi' was called 'Calling Sehmat' and it was released in 2008 and the one that will be written by him by the end of this year will be called 'Remembering Sehmat'. © Twitter "After I wrote Calling Sehmat in 2008, I spent another 10 years with her, on and off, depending on the little time she gave me. [The book will focus on] how she went into depression after the mission but fought her way out of it. It will reflect her personal journey since her return from Pakistan. The mysteries around her will be decoded in 'Remembering Sehmat'." said the author. While 'Calling Sehmat' was a book based on the real-life account of an Indian spy in Pakistan, the second one won't have anything to do with spying as much as it would be a take on Sehmat's life, when she returned back to India from Pakistan. Obviously, the second instalment has to go hand-in-hand with the ending of 'Calling Sehmat' (aka 'Raazi') and spying wouldn't really make much sense for 'Remembering Sehmat' and if you've seen the movie or read the book, you'd know exactly why. © AA Films While Sikka has started working on the second book, he also revealed that he's spoken enough to the Kashmiri girl, on whom the book and the movie are based, and that he has enough content about her life to write a sequel about her journey, post her return to India from Pakistan. The sequel has more to do with exploring Sehmat's life further and how after she returns to India, she goes through a severe bout of depression. It will also focus on her struggle to accept her own son and her disengagement from the public in general. © Twitter But apart from the book releasing, the movie is also rumoured to release sometime after the book and according to Sikka, who has already spoken to Alia regarding the project, she is very willing and keen to star in the sequel 'Remembering Sehmat', carrying forth her very intense and complicated role from the earlier movie. We're really glad she's agreed upon this project because honestly, we can't put anyone else's face other than Alia's for Sehmat's character. © Twitter Here's hoping the book does immensely well and the movie follows suit. After all, Bollywood is progressing towards making more movies which are adapted from books, rather than taking them directly from Hollywood and this one's something to look forward to!
  17. In December 2009, when James Cameron's 'Avatar' hit theatres, it smashed all previous grossing records. Till date, this science-fiction holds the record for being the world's highest grossing movie of all time. The film took 15 years for completion and also made James Cameron one of the greatest film-makers of all time. © Lightstorm Entertainment The director had once told Discovery that he sat down in 1995 to write a film that would push the CG art! And so it did. 'Avatar' redefined modern film-making and set benchmarks for world cinema. It gave the audience a completely new perspective about the modern-day filmography. © Lightstorm Entertainment Years later, when moviegoers have got their hands onto the IMAX and 5D experience of movie viewing, all they crave for is newness with every single film they watch. In times, when we have got the best from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and especially when fans have gotten deeply used to watching the next versions of their superheroes with every passing year, what should one expect from James Cameron's upcoming 'Avatar 2'? Almost a decade later, are fans still waiting for the film's sequel? Read below to understand more. Well, let us tell you that James Cameron's team is working day and night to bring the unseen from the world of Pandora on the silver screen back again. The franchise makers are taking their time as they have plans to make 'Avatar 2' a much grander experience than its previous instalment. The maestro recently dropped a major announcement saying that actors have wrapped up their shoot for the upcoming sequels i.e 'Avatar 2' and 'Avatar 3'. The cast of these sequels include actors Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Matt Gerald, and Sigourney Weaver. Academy Award winner Kate Winslet is the newest addition to the cast. Though we were only expecting 'Avatar 2' to be under production, the announcement of the third part of the film happened to be a complete surprise. The principal photography of these two films has been completed; the actors have been working over the same for the past two years. Now, the toughest part of the production process has just begun for James Cameron's team. For the same, the director will now sit with experts to look after the CGI and other technical aspects. © YouTube/Discovery The stakes are already too high on these sequels and the production team would not leave any stones unturned, considering the previous records set by the film. 20th Century Fox and Lightstorm have already announced the release dates of the two films. 'Avatar 2' will be releasing on December 18, 2020, whereas 'Avatar 3' will hit the theatres on December 17, 2021. That's not all to it! Academy Award winner Kate Winslet, who has worked earlier with James Cameron in his iconic film 'Titanic', did a very tough training for a few scenes in the film. © Pinterest Free-diver Kirk Krach (a world champion) was hired as an underwater instructor by the film's team. From him, Kate Winslet learned to hold her breath underwater and nailed it by holding it for more than seven minutes. Apparently, the actress visibly turned blue! That's so Pandoran! Now, this is a sure shot reason why one must look forward to the film's sequels. It is time to sit back, wait for the film and thank the director for finally giving wings to 'Avatar 2' and 'Avatar 3'. It is better late than never!
  18. Yesterday, Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 6 Pro in India and releasing the device so soon wasn't really expected. If we consider Xiaomi's launch pattern for the Note series so far, the Note 4 was launched in Q1 2017 followed by the Note 5 in Q1 2018. We were expecting the Note 5 Pro's successor to come early next year. Instead of launching one phone per year, it has decided to go with two phones per year in the same series. This is in line with industry trends like OnePlus releasing two every year. In the midrange segment, this makes even more sense because the competitors are constantly launching new phones with better offerings. © Xiaomi Earlier, the difference between the incumbent and the successor used to be major. We'd see specs bump, software upgrades, as well as design changes. Now with the new launch flow, we see the phones have minor upgrades. So, what's new in the Redmi Note 6 Pro? 1. The design remains the same on the back, but you'll see a notched display on the front. The display is now slightly bigger at 6.26-inches instead of 6-inch. Due to the notch, the aspect ratio has been changed from 18:9 to 19:9. The slightly larger display area means the screen-to-body ratio too has been bumped to 81 percent. 2. The phone ships out of the box with MIUI 10 and brings in gesture support, picture-in-picture mode, new recent menu, Android Pie like volume slider, and AI performance enhancements. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is already receiving the update OTA (over the air). © Xiaomi 3. The Redmi Note 6 Pro has a slightly better dual camera setup on the rear consisting of a 20-megapixel primary shooter with f/1.9 and a 5-megapixel secondary lens with f/2.2. The front too now has a dual camera setup with a 20+2-megapixel combo. 4. The rear camera comes with dual pixel phase detection autofocus, AI scene detection, studio lighting, adjustable bokeh, and improved portrait mode. Using AI, not only can the phone add a bokeh effect but also completely change the background into 6 presets. After a preset is applied, you can also further change the type of lighting overlay. This opens up the option of having much more customization and using the same depth sensor, newer edits can be applied. One neat feature on the #RedmiNote6Pro, you can remove unwanted things from the background. pic.twitter.com/mBhhj3iCMq — Akshay Bhalla (@Bhallanator) November 22, 2018 5. The processor remains the same at Snapdragon 636, which powered the Redmi Note 5 Pro as well. Everyone expected the phone to get a processor bump, but is it really needed? The chipset is powerful enough to fuel a midrange phone and it becomes easier for Xiaomi to roll-out updates. The base hardware configuration of the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Note 6 Pro remains the same, and both can receive timely updates. © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla Now, obviously, if a company is launching a "new" product, we naturally expect it to boast new features. And, the Redmi Note 6 Pro does bring quite a few. Xiaomi hasn't removed any of its features from the Note 5 Pro, and has just added new ones on the top. The notch's existence has always been controversial and it depends on one's choice. The deal is even sweeter when we consider the launch price. The base variant with 4GB+64GB configuration starts at Rs 13,999 and the second option with 6GB+64G configuration costs Rs 15,999.

  20. Recently, I caught the flu which made me hibernate for a few days at home, lest I distribute my germs evenly at office. While grappling through various bizarre channels on television I realised I can in fact Netflix something chill and spend my sick days more viably. What I didn't know was I wasn't prepared for what was coming my way. © FlanaganFilm While glancing through the new shows to watch on Netflix I stumbled upon 'The Haunting of Hill House' (THoHH) and as intrigued as my spirit forever is, I started cuing the show. Fair warning though- don't ever watch it while you're sick or down in the dumps. It gets beneath your skin and up your psyche and tries and fiddles around with your timid mind space at that point in time. And that's exactly what it did to me. THoHH isn't just another horror show waiting for an audience popularity award and some serious reckoning on social media. It's a bit mind altering and shrewd with it's content. The kind of show you'd want to cue if you feel your inhibitions are right in place...and then suddenly they skyrocket to another galaxy. © FlanaganFilm The series starts with unfolding a familial structure slowly. The Crain family spends a considerable amount of time in a haunted house, away from the city, near the woods and they slowly realise all their demons lie in that house. How? Well, like I told you, it's not just a horror series. it's way more than that. When you grow up in a big family, you go through a lot of ups and downs. Some serious issues escalate, some serious traumas find their way to settle in, inside your mind but in time you learn to deal with these traumas through certain realisations and by facing them head on. But that wasn't the case here. And by here I mean within the series, inside Hill House. © FlanaganFilm Okay, let me explain how. *spoiler alert* . The Crain family moves in to a huge mansion called the Hill House, somewhere far away from civilisation. The house originally belonged to the Hill family, who'd died in different circumstances and they became the house, literally. There isn't much background thrown about them though. There's an elderly woman who was living there, who certainly died of a sickness and then there was a couple - Poppy and William Hill who'd met at an asylum and fallen in love and of course died at the house too. The story revolves around two timelines. One in which they show the Crain family living in the house as kids, being haunted by every nook and cranny of the house and the second timeline shows them all grown up, years later, living separately, still being haunted by their own ghosts, without realising it's all connected to their childhood in the house. © FlanaganFilm Despite all the hidden ghosts and the not-so hidden ones, not many are given a back-story and as viewers you have to imagine the best or the worst scenarios and that's what I did, while I deduced every little scene into a metaphor, for familial relationships in general. The five siblings Steven (Michiel Huisman), Shirley (Elizabeth Reaser), Theodora (Kate Seigal), and twins Nell and Luke (Victoria Pedretti & Oliver Jackson Cohen), grow up in the house as close as they can be with their parents Hugh (Timothy Hutton) and Olivia (CarlaGugino). Each one of them has a demon to fight and a ghost to let go off, while living in the house. But they're all in some sort of spatial denial about what they usually see. Except maybe Nellie, who sees a 'bent-neck-lady' often at night and freaks out and screams. Luke sees Willian Hill, who comes to look for his hat which is in Luke's possession. The rest have their fair share of visions and anomalies but the less they talk about it, the better they feel. © FlanaganFilm The second timeline is all of them dealing with what they should have talked about in the first place instead of suppressing it. Which is a clear indication of how families need to be more open with each other and not let anything find its way under the rug. © FlanaganFilm The timelines are almost intertwined because the grown up siblings find it hard to cope with normal life, while going through serious PTSD, having grown up in a house that magnified their life fears. Steven is a struggling author, who writes a book about the house, which is a mere narration of all the horror stories he heard from his siblings and while not penning down his own experiences in the house, since he kept everything in the realms of denial, when it came to him facing his demons. Luke is a drug addict, struggling to keep clean, while jumping from one rehab to another, Shirley tries to face her demons for having an extra marital affair and not telling her husband about it, Nell still sees the bent-neck-lady and believes she never left her side and has taken over her life in more ways than one and Theodora feels everything she touches and sometimes that makes her inept to connect with other people, most days. © FlanaganFilm The trauma lurks through grim shadows all their life, while they struggle to find themselves again, 20 years later and the only way to live a normal life is to confront the ghosts of the past, literally. Since their mother Olivia's suicide in the house, their father never lets them explore the real truth about why Olivia kills herself in the first place and the mystery only unfolds for the siblings when one of them-Nell, goes back to the house and kills herself too. The only way for them to come to terms with what happened and let everything go is to actually go back to the house, years later. And they do. Okay, no more spoilers, you need to watch it to know what really happens in the end. © FlanaganFilm While the series kept me upright, all night, with a really icky feeling in the pit of my stomach it also made me realise the latent message the show is trying to sublimely give out. The fact that we all live like the Crains, throughout our life and never confront our own demons when we should. We never lay out what's in our mind or what we see and what we defy, most days. That we don't listen when someone needs to be heard. And all these instances become something malicious in our own head and make us go through post traumatic strife all our life. It just seems like we're all living a post traumatic lifestyle and it's time to change that. The serious message the director Mike Flanagan is trying to deliver is that of solidarity within a family, to avoid fighting our ghosts from the past. The 'Red Room' for instance was a room in the house, which was called the 'heart' of the house. It was a room for everyone to recreate their solace and become one with the house again. We should do that as a family. Recreate and share our solace and misery with the ones we truly love and not let anything lurk in the shadows to actually let go of any sort of darkness, that inhibits our days while we're grown adults. While I loved the series, this is in no way a review but an interpretation of a subjective understanding of the show. The treatment of the series is top-notch and I couldn't help think about the hidden message time and again and write about it, to help people understand the creepy yet significant moral of story. Although, I am done watching the show and it really hasn't stopped hounding the pit of my stomach yet and once the feeling goes away, I might just watch it again!
  21. Did you know the fastest man on earth is now a footballer? Yeah, me neither, but Usain Bolt is out there taking over another sport because why not? Usain Bolt made his debut as a substitute for A-League outfit Central Coast Mariners a couple of months back and now he's scored not one but two goals for a professional football team. There's only one way we can expect him to celebrate anything – with his trademark lightning pose, of course – and he did not disappoint. Here it is, @usainbolt, the footballer, scores his maiden Mariners goal. What a moment! He joined the Mariners for an “indefinite training period” and also said, “dreams become reality through hard work”. He also added, “My first start and scoring two goals, it's a good feeling. I'm happy I could come here and show the world I'm improving. I'm keen to be a Mariner, to play my best and get into the team.” People on Twitter were also quite impressed. what a time to be alive — Ben Mc (@McElstuff) October 12, 2018 Yep, all the greats! 22. The much awaited and much-hyped trailer of this year's magnum opus, 'Thugs Of Hindostan' is finally out. Before we begin dissecting it further, let's just have a great aesthetic view of it first. First things first, Aamir Khan is easily the Johnny Depp of Bollywood, if one is allowed to do draw an innocuous comparison. The man is called a perfectionist for a reason. His role in TOH has some eerie similarities to Depp's characters from 'Pirates Of The Carribean' and 'Alice In Wonderland', and from the trailer, it looks like Aamir has nailed his performance in a way that only he could. © YRF Coming to Big B, words fall short for this mitochondria of Bollywood, who can slip into any role like changing his clothes. He can be seen pulling off some pretty kick-ass action moves in the trailer, and at his age, he is clearly giving the mainstream actors a run for their money. © YRF The movie also stars Fatima Sana Shaikh and Katrina Kaif. For some reason, their appearances were kept short and crisp in the trailer, so we are guessing we'll have a better look once the next trailer is out. The movie is a YRF production, so nothing lacks in terms of cinematography and it is going to be a Diwali treat for every fan out there! 'Thugs Of Hindostan' will release in theatres on November 8th.
  23. It's no secret Apple's A-series processors are insanely fast and are one of the core reasons for iPhone's success. The iPhone X is powered by Apple's A11 chipset and is able to churn out exceptional performance, both, practically as well as on benchmarks. The soon to come iPhones will surely be powered by Apple's 'A12' processor, carrying on the naming conventions from A10 Fusion or A11 Bionic. The A11 chipset was a big leap in terms of CPU architecture, and the A12 seeks to refine it with a 7nanometer design and further performance and power consumption improvements. © Apple The A11 Bionic found in the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and X is produced using TSMC's 10nm manufacturing process on the other hand. Promising increased performance and decreased power consumption, TSMC says its 7nm process is said to make the A12 chip 20 percent faster than last year's A11 chip and 40 percent more energy-efficient. TSMC is the Taiwanese company that is exclusively responsible for manufacturing Apple's A12 chipset this year. © Apple Apple added a special Neural Engine in the A11, hence the name 'Bionic', we expect Apple to continue refining this further as AI and ML are at the center of the industry right now. It is used for features like Face ID and even the upcoming Kirin 970 contains a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) that can perform tasks like image recognition 20 times faster than a CPU. © AndroidAuthority The A11 Bionic processor has already proven that is exceptionally faster than the competing Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, and with the A12 things will get even more interesting. On paper, Apple uses the same ARM 64-bit architecture that Qualcomm, Samsung, and Huawei use, but Apple has a special license with ARM that lets it design its own chipsets. Apple also has the liberty to design the processor exactly the way it wants to, adjustments in cost can be balanced as everything about the iPhone is built in-house. In fact, one reason why the A11 is faster than the Snapdragon 845 is that Apple uses bigger silicon chipsets that are almost twice the size of the competing chipsets. Source: MacWorld
  24. Remember the old saying – 'whatever you post on the internet will stay there forever'? It also means that we should think hard before posting anything online. This is a lesson we can all learn from Twitter user Naomi's unfortunate and disastrous interaction with someone online. The entire episode is a little bit sad and very cringeworthy. So, settle in because this is a short yet wild ride. It all started with Naomi expressing her excitement by posting a tweet about how she got an internship at NASA. It's a commendable achievement; we have to give her that, anyone would be excited about it. But, then someone disagreed with her use of the word '****' and told her to mind her language, full Captain America style. Okay, her use of the word was understandable, if not justified. It's okay, you get excited and you say stuff, happens to everyone. But, things took a cringe-y turn soon. She replied with this – Well, it's not a nice thing to say to someone, especially someone you don't know. What I don't understand is how and why she didn't go through the person's profile before replying, and that too replying that aggressively. Turns out the guy is Homer Hickam, an author, Vietnam veteran, and the NASA engineer who trained the first Japanese astronauts. Yep, he's a big deal and he made sure to tell her that. The interaction is deleted now, but screenshots live forever. Remember when I said everything on the internet lasts forever? The screenshots soon went viral with surprisingly divided opinions on the matter. Someone just accepted that something like this happened because 2018 is the year of unbelievable things happening. A furry became an intern for NASA and got instantly fired after telling someone on their council to suck their dick because this is 2018. pic.twitter.com/XL7jvCKFFj — Michelle Catlin (@CatlinNyaa) August 21, 2018 Umm. Hey God. pic.twitter.com/06liEuIpn0 — Chidi Okereke (@Chydee) August 22, 2018 Some people wanted to take this as a lesson on social media. There's a lesson in this. https://t.co/0gAxkb6dPu — Toussaint Egan (@TheSaintOfTous) August 21, 2018 Kids, be careful on the Internet & don't do dumb things. If you're working for a public institution you'll have to (like it or not) be more conscious with words Homer was cool abt the situation but sadly other people weren't and they were the ones who insisted the girl be fired. https://t.co/0WnYp9TOad — Erna Mahyuni (@ernamh) August 22, 2018 This person raised a valid point. I can't believe @NASA gave an internship to someone who didn't know who Homer Hickem was. — America Offline ð¾ (@Cheechard) August 21, 2018 Some people thought she was right. Wow, Homer Hickam is kind of a jerk. Naomi did the right thing, this hectoring old dullard needs to be told off more. https://t.co/OUydOXzhAi — Agouti still believes in the railing system (@bitterkarella) August 21, 2018 And, some others laughed at people defending her. An intern told an overseer of NASA to suck her "dick and balls", and there are actually people in the comments who think firing her was an abuse of power LOL https://t.co/D0YVFmOIJX — HugS (@HugS86) August 21, 2018 After so much controversy, Homer Hickam decided to clear the air and said he had nothing to do with her firing. In a blog (https://homerhickamblog.blogspot.com/) post, he wrote: “I'm a Vietnam vet and not at all offended by the F-word. However, when I saw NASA and the word used together, it occurred to me that this young person might get in trouble if NASA saw it so I tweeted to her one word: "Language" and intended to leave it at that. Soon, her friends took umbrage and said a lot of unkind things but long after I was gone as I immediately deleted my comments and blocked all concerned. Later, I learned she had lost her offer for an internship with NASA. This I had nothing to do with nor could I since I do not hire and fire at the agency or have any say on employment whatsoever. As it turned out, it was due to the NASA hashtag her friends used that called the agency's attention to it long after my comments were gone.” Moreover, he even tried getting her reinstated. He wrote, “She reached out to me with an unnecessary apology which I heartily accepted and returned with my own. After talking to her, I am certain she deserves a position in the aerospace industry and I'm doing all I can to secure her one that will be better than she lost. I have also talked to the folks that had to do with her internship and made absolutely certain that there will be no black mark on her record.” Well, this was a rollercoaster ride, so many ups and downs. It also showed a big downside of social media. Wow! It could be like a small plot of 'Black Mirror' or something.
  25. An iPad exploded at the Apple Store in Amsterdam yesterday which happened due to overheating or a leaked battery. The incident was reported by Dutch website AT5, and thankfully nobody was injured in the store. There were around three people in the store and were treated for respiratory problems after the incident occurred. © Twitter As of now, there is no certainty as to why the explosion happened. However, soon after the incident occurred, Apple staff were able to quickly place the device in a container filled with sand. The iPad was supposedly emitting 'irritating' vapours which affected three people. The firefighters evacuated everybody at the Leidseplein store and resumed business by 3 PM. Apple products aren't necessarily known for exploding due to battery issues; however, Apple is not an exception to the incident either. An iPhone battery overheated and caused the handset to explode at a showroom in Zurich recently. The explosion caused a repair worker minor burns. © BCCL Apple, like any other manufacture, uses rechargeable lithium-ion battery in their devices. The batteries in question are prone to explosions when the internal polypropylene layer that protects the electrodes from each other is damaged. Explosions can also be caused if the flammable electrolyte inside gets too hot. Source: AT5
