  4. The Bollywood film industry is the centre of glamour, money, and a whole lot of other things. This means, that if you're a Bollywood star, you enjoy a lot of insane luxuries there are in the world. However, in order for one to get that delicious slice of pie, you have to beat the competition as Bollywood truly is one of the most competitive industries in the world. We already know that there is a lot of competition between top actors and actresses, with many rivalries brewing in the industry. © Disney+ Hotstar However, there is one feud, in particular, that may have slipped under the radar. According to reports, Bollywood actresses Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone had one in the past, with Anushka even talking about it. © BCCL As per reports, both of them made news after it was reported that Anushka had slashed her endorsement fee in order to get a deal that had been offered to Deepika. Well, speaking about it, Anushka had said in an interview: "There is no comparison between Deepika and me. Nothing links us. We do different kinds of films. In fact, she has done more films. I've been choosy. I have not picked up just about any role that came my way. I don't need to do that (slash my endorsement fee). I have enough brands. And each one of them has renewed the contract, some of them for the third time. I don't think that's happening with other heroines. I must be doing something right." she said. It was reported that Anushka also revealed the time when Deepika's camp tried to bring her down. © Instagram/Deepika Padukone "A friend of Deepika had called up to say that she is doing Yeh Jawaani Hai Diwani and not Anushka. My ‘friends' don't call, do they? I am Kashyap's and Hirani's choice. She is Ayan's and whosoever's. I never pull anybody down. That makes me nice, right? Stop throwing garbage at me since I don't throw garbage at you. We call ourselves cool but we are actually not. I'm not saying I'm better or worse than X. I am in a damn good position myself. Nobody can take it away from me by deriding me." said Anushka. Well, it was all in the past, and now, the two megastars seem to maintain a cordial relationship, having progressed in their careers even further. Deepika was last seen in Gehraiyaan, with the movie getting mixed reviews from fans and critics and Anushka is gearing up for her upcoming sports biopic Chakda Express. 7. The best thing about the internet, apart from its ability to let us stay connected, is that it will hardly ever let anything die. Content, for instance, will always find a way to be there whether or not we are here and that means even the oldest and most embarrassing videos don’t get wiped out from the internet. Just like this one where Katrina Kaif took on Ranbir Kapoor’s case without even having to utter a single word. An interview of the two actors, who were also rumoured to be dating a couple of years ago, surfaced on Reddit where the two actors could be seen promoting their movie - Jagga Jasoos, which went on to be a big flop at the blockbuster. © Reddit During one such promotional event, actress Katrina Kaif was asked to name one quality that the Saawariya actor has that no one else from Bollywood would. And her answer wasn’t one that we could’ve guessed! After what seemed like a year-long pause, where the actress tried hard to think of even one quality that made Ranbir Kapoor different from his contemporaries, Katrina finally came up with an answer, which too wasn’t more than a back-handed compliment. She said, “A voracious appetite for Instagram, whilst on set”. But that wasn’t even the point. Because by this time, all we could think about was the very long pause that the actress took to even come up with this, and honestly, we don’t know if it was genuine or on purpose! One Reddit user wondered the same as he remarked, “this was obviously intentional and very smart of her.....impressed.” © Reddit © Reddit © Reddit Meanwhile, users on Reddit couldn’t help but roll side by side laughing at the sight of this video, calling it a ‘pregnant pause’. One user even appreciated Kat for being candid and wrote, “i love how she ended up not saying anything, didn’t even bother to make something up.” Makes two of us! via GIPHY Another user commented, “Ooof the silence was LOUD” and we totally second that. As of now, Katrina Kaif is happily married to Uri actor Vicky Kaushal while Ranbir Kapoor is dating his long-time girlfriend Alia Bhatt. View the full article
  8. Navarasa, which means 'nine emotions' in Tamil, is a recently released series on Netflix. The project brings together a lot of big names in the Tamil industry, and some of the most famous directors, actors, producers, musicians etc., have collaborated for the amazing project. Many leading stars graced the screen to create something truly magical. But as soon as the series was released on the OTT platform Netflix, #BanNetflix started trending on Twitter. © Netflix Even though the audience has praised the show for its immaculate performances and storyline, members from the Muslim community expressed their displeasure over the advertisement published in a Tamil daily. © Netflix The platform has received the wrath of Islamists as the web series features some parts from the Quran. Raza Academy, a Sunni Barelvi organisation of Indian Sunni Muslims, hurled abuses and has asked to take strict against the platform. A few others also tweeted, saying that the verses have been used as an 'entertaining' subject. They demanded that Netflix should be banned on the grounds of hurting religious sentiments. A user wrote, "Remember one thing that Quran and Islam are not the sources of entertaining people. It belongs to our dignity and religious beliefs. Please don't hurt our religious feelings by doing these kind of things." Check out how the anthology has enraged the community. 11. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, I don’t think anyone can deny that there are some (or many) words in the Indian lexicon that are… distasteful, to say the least, and outright racist in many cases. While the seriousness of their usage depends, there’s no doubt the mental harm it can cause to the recipient of such words, which the society, at large, seems hellbent on ignoring. From the early days in the school to right inside our very homes and offices, these words have been commonplace for years and normalised to the degree that calling out their usage, generally leads to the shaming of the very person pointing it out. via GIPHY Well, for whatever good it would do, here is a small, non-exhaustive list of words that Indians really have got to stop using: 1. The N WordI don’t know who told you that being brown gives you a free pass to use the n-word, but I’m sorry to say you’re gravely mistaken. Even if you’ve got a black friend. Even if they once said you could use it, because—newsflash—black people are not a monolith I remember when BLM protests broke out last year, this one Indian dude living in India, made a video where he said brown people can use the n word because we use it as a term of endearment???? and he also said that people "shouldn't read too much into it" and everyday I wish — Ammz (@ammsosickofyou) January 26, 2021 And no, the other ‘variations’ of this word, even words like “h*bshi” that directly translate to the n-word and have somehow become socially acceptable substitutes, aren’t it either. We know what you’re referring to, and it’s not cool. Also, if you were wondering, yes, calling someone “kallu” is racist. 2. The R Word If you don’t know what I’m referring to, it’s the word “ret*rd”, which is so common in our lexicon, globally, that you’ll find it in books, literature, shows, you name it. The word has, for years, been used to put down individuals with intellectual disabilities, and has become a part of our everyday language. If you’re not autistic or any other disability can you stop using retard as a slur? because it was used against autistic people, people with downsyndrome and many more people!! There’s other words to describe someone — Myles is married to Riker ♡ 75 days (@beetwtinnit) March 4, 2021 Whether you’re using it lightheartedly or are actually referring to someone with a disability (even if not in a malicious manner), the use of this word is unacceptable. So the next time you want to lovingly curse out your friend, try to go for something that doesn’t reinforce stereotypes about an entire group of people. 3. OCD “Oh, I’m so OCD.” No, you’re not, you’re just talking about something you haven’t the slightest clue about. But, you protest if you hate messes and love keeping things clean and organised, so you must be having OCD, no? NO. And please stop saying you have it, or even Monica from Friends has it. In simple terms, someone who has OCD suffers from “excessive thoughts (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviours (compulsions).” Now, this might manifest as an obsessive need for cleanliness and organisation, but it is certainly not the same as liking to colour-code all your notes and files, please give me a break. People saying “You’re being so OCD” or “Wow im acting really OCD right now” dont have a clue what OCD is OCD is fucking horrible... its having intrusive thoughts that can be violent/sexual/etc in nature and dealing with them through internal/external compulsions It is pure hell — Fey Vercuiel️‍⚧️️‍♿️ (@feymakes) March 1, 2021 This perception of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is, in fact, pretty harmful to individuals who actually suffer from it. Stereotyping an actual illness as a “perfectionist” or as just someone who “obsessively keeps things tidy” just serves to diminish the seriousness of the condition. 4. Ch*nk* The word may now land you in jail but tell that to the hordes of Indians, children and adults alike, who oh-so-lovingly refer to their Northeastern friends as “ch*nk*”, “momo”, “chow mein”, or any other racist BS in the name of friendly banter. © YRF By using this word, you’re actually insulting the multiple communities of Northeastern individuals and essentially calling them “Chinese”. And no, it’s not okay even if your friend isn’t from the Northeast and merely has “small eyes” or “Chinese-looking eyes”, no matter how you might want to reason it. It's wrong. Period. the way my relatives call my sister chinki because she has small eyes,,,,, itna normalised racism???!!!!!?? — Bhavika (@bubblewrap101) September 18, 2020 And as a piece of advice in the pandemic: Equating Northeast Indians or Northeast Asians to the coronavirus is definitely racist and you are walking around saying so, you clearly need help. Bonus: 5. "It’s Just A Joke!"Not funny, didn’t laugh. If your definition of a joke serves to put down someone’s self-worth, reinforce harmful stereotypes, or even aid in creating a dangerous environment that can lead to violence against a community, then you need to evaluate your sense of humour. It’s the 21st century, and we really have to stop accepting ignorance as a way of life and start expecting better from each other. View the full article
  12. The fourth and final Test of the India-England series at the Narendra Modi stadium started out just like the Men in Blue had imagined, with spinner Axar Patel doing some early damage to the English batting order while pacers Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Siraj scare them with extreme swing with the new ball. One of the early highlights of Day 1 at the Motera stadium came in the 8th over of the first innings when English opener Zak Crawley decided to walk down the pitch to go for a big shot but failed to generate enough momentum and the ball ended up comfortably flying into the hands of Siraj, who was standing at mid off. View this post on Instagram What caught the attention of the fans who were watching the match live was that Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant could sense some sort of frustration in the way Crawley was batting. 7.4 overs - Rishabh Pant "someone is getting angry now". 7.5 overs - Crawley hits the aerial shot coming down the track and gets out.#IndvEng #ENGvIND pic.twitter.com/8nKE8slOHJ — Team India 2.0 (@teamindia2_0) March 4, 2021 Pant could see the Englishmen find ways to go for the boundary ropes. After all, he was the most successful batsman for the touring side in the previous match and he did so while playing aggressively (53 runs of 84 deliveries while hitting 10 boundaries in the first innings of the third Test). So, in order to get under Crawley’s skin, Pant started shouting in English. “Someone is getting angry, somebody is getting angry,” shouted the Indian glovesman repeatedly between Patel’s deliveries. On the other hand, skipper Virat Kohli also looked extremely chatty while standing at slip, close to the batsman. He continued to taunt Crawley by saying things like, “loose wicket coming boys” with the hopes of getting him riled up. Pant and Kohli before the Wicket : "Someone is getting angry" (Pant) "Loose Wicket coming boys" (Kohli) Next Ball : Crawley goes for a Aerial Shot and Caught. Pant and Kohli ♥️ — Adish (@36_NotAllOut) March 4, 2021“Someone is getting angry” and Crawley hits out! Good from Pant. — AB (@AB_Singh7) March 4, 2021*Someone is getting angry* worked — lemniscate (@nomoodtotalk) March 4, 2021It didn’t take long for Kohli and Pant’s tactics to work as Crawley ended up throwing his wicket on the fifth ball. After 12.1 overs, England are at 30/3 with skipper Joe Root’s wicket being taken by Siraj who trapped him with an excellent delivery for an LBW appeal. With a 2-1 lead in the series, the Men in Blue look to win or draw the match while trying to make their way into the finals of the World Test Championship to face Kane Williamson's New Zealand roster at London’s Lord’s Cricket Ground in June 2021.
