  1. When it comes to dating, life becomes really hard for a man. All thanks to the f****d up *** ratio of our country. Getting matches on a dating app isn't easy if you don't have the looks of Ryan Gosling and humour of Chandler Bing. On apps like Tinder, where girls get 30 matches in one day, guys get one measly match in 30 days. via GIPHY If you too are swiping right and right and still not able to find a match, worry no more. Other dating apps have come in picture and some of them are as good as Tinder, if not more. via GIPHY Here are 5 such apps which you can join to improve your odds of getting more dates: 1. Bumble Bumble has been in India for a while but officially it was launched recently by Priyanka Chopra. This is the app which has better UI than Tinder and somehow, pictures on it look even better. Bumble works on the same principle as Tinder: swipe and match. However, here you can enter more than just your bio and pictures. via GIPHY Bumble lets you enter your height, your drinking and smoking habits, whether you have pets, whether you have/want kids, what are you here for (something casual/relationship/marriage), your zodiac sign, and even your political leaning. All these things apart from your bio. In addition, it lets you answer questions like two truths and a lie, recent act of kindness, and many more. And if you are bad at breaking the ice, worry not. Here girls have to make the first move. Guys can't text first. It definitely is a great alternative for Tinder. 2. Hinge This one broke the swiping barrier and launched a whole new concept - anyone can message anyone. And if you're bad at even messaging, then you can just like the other person's picture and they will get a notification. via GIPHY Hinge has found a decentish way to check the authenticity of the profile. On Hinge, you can't get away by just uploading one or two pictures. You will have to upload six pictures, no more and no less. Like Bumble, Hinge also gives you an option to put three questions in your profile. Putting questions and answers make it easy for the other person to break the ice. 3. Truly Madly It doesn't have a very pretty UI, but it does the trick. This one is again for people who are not a big fan of bios. Truly Madly gave no space to bios but put the latest fad, hashtags, to describe yourself. You can use up to five hashtags to define yourself, or your hobbies, or what are you looking for. via GIPHY The chat room of this app has some bugs in the latest version where if you type a long message, sometimes only half of it gets delivered. So this is a perfect app for the people who use “chatroom here sucks, let's move to Instagram” line. This app is also good when it comes to privacy, as your name won't be displayed to anyone until you get matched with the person. And, for an ice-breaker after getting a match, Truly Madly has games where you answer certain questions and can check what the other person answered to see how compatible you are. This app also gives you an option to mention your favourite music, movies, books, food, and games. Again, becomes a good ice-breaker. 4. Happen If you're lazy and love your bed too much, this isn't the app for you. Happen shows you people only in the area where you are or where you have been. If you cross a person and you both have Happen installed, it will show your profile in each other's phone. via GIPHY Happen comes quite handy if you're too shy to pick girls in a pub. When you see a girl in a club you like, you can just take out your phone, if she is on Happen then it will show her profile. If you both press like, then bam, it's a match made on Happen! You can go to her and talk or if being an introvert is your thing, then just chat over the app until you're comfortable enough to buy her drinks. 5. Aisle If you are looking for something casual, then this isn't the app for you. As the name suggests, it is made for the prospect of finding a long-term partner. Also, the app isn't free and after a short trial, you need to shed some good money in order to like profiles. If you have decided to join it, make sure you have plenty of time when you sit to make a profile. via GIPHY You will have to answer quite a few questions, actually, 5-page long questionnaire. And it gets checked and verified by their team. Only after the verification, you can join the app. But all this seems worth it when you don't see fake profiles on the app. Because of such lengthy joining process and the joining fee, only people who are genuinely looking for something serious make their profile here. I hope you made it till here without downloading all or a few of the mentioned apps. Desperation has no place in the dating world!
  2. Getting swipe rights is certainly not that easy, and it's no child's play either to get matches on any dating app. While men have bugged their female best friends for advice, it's important to follow styling tips as well, that make your picture stand out from the crowd. It's actually not that hard. Look at Vicky Kaushal or Kartik Aaryan, their fan following will tell you that if they were on a dating app, they would definitely get the most right swipes. But here's the thing, these actors don't magically look that great. A lot of handwork goes into planning their looks and pictures. But if you can take away some tips simply by observing, that also helps a lot. Firstly, before we start, please don't be naked in your profile picture. We mean, we're obviously assuming you're sensible enough to not upload your junk which will definitely get you reported, but pictures in your boxers/underwear, pictures, where the zip of your jeans is open, pictures with hand on your junk, pictures of you in a vest or without a vest are a big no. I'm sure you're proud of these pictures and you should be. We're all for body positivity. Think of it this way: your first impression on the dating app simply can't be your naked self. We're sure you can do better than that. We believe in you. Instead, put your best foot forward with photos where you look so attractive that girls can't resist swiping right. Learn from these hot men. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Arjun Kapoor (@arjunkapoor) on Dec 27, 2018 at 4:09am PST 1. There is so much happening in this picture. We love the whole intense-but-casual look on Arjun Kapoor's face. The beanie gets the extra points. The picture has a mysterious vibe to it. It's the kind of picture girls would swipe right to discover what the mystery guy is like in person. View this post on Instagram A post shared by KARTIK AARYAN (@kartikaaryan) on Nov 9, 2018 at 11:53pm PST 2. This picture carries a secret message. If you still don't get it, look at Kartik Aaryan's t-shirt. Women love guys who respect women for obvious reasons. A guy who knows respecting a woman does not harm him in any way, checks the box instantly. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Aditya roy kapur (@adityaroykapur__) on Oct 8, 2018 at 8:45am PDT 3. Here's an adorable shot of Aditya Roy Kapur that is simply a no-brainer swipe right picture. You don't necessarily have to look straight at the camera to look desirable. A side shot or a candid sometimes trumps generic profile pictures. These shots give a glimpse to girls the kind of person you might be when they meet you in person, which is more than what they see in other profiles. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Vicky Kaushal (@vickykaushal09) on Nov 10, 2018 at 11:56pm PST 4. If you know how to style your clothes right and if you're good at it, you should definitely display those skills in your profile pictures. Let the women know that you can give them competition when it comes to style. Women always appreciate that. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ranveer Singh (@ranveersingh) on Feb 24, 2018 at 5:21am PST 5. If you feel strongly about a certain movie and have props that express your love for it, it's time to get creative with your pictures. Find ways to include your passion in your profile pictures, let the picture speak for itself instead of words. A woman who feels the same way about the movie will make it a point to message you first! View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ranveer Singh (@ranveersingh) on Feb 24, 2018 at 5:21am PST 6. If you have glasses that suit you really well and you look nerdy in them, but in a good way, don't hide them! Click photos with your glasses on that stand out from the crowd and instantly grab the attention of women who are swiping right. They won't miss you, we promise. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Harshvardhan Kapoor (@harshvardhankapoor) on Dec 8, 2018 at 4:50am PST 7. Everyone appreciates men who can clean up well. A picture in formals done right is like a unicorn in the crowd. Trust us when we say that. So, if you're a person who knows how to keep your corporate game on point, don't let this tiny detail amiss from your profile picture. In the end you'll be grateful you followed these, because I'm sure you'll be saying:
  3. Every year, dating and relationship trends change, but the one thing that remains constant is the will for people to meet like-minded people and carry forth a positive interaction, in a hope to build something more tangible, together. Dating apps have made this way more plausible than we can imagine and assume, and meeting people through a screen is an accepted norm now. It's always a hit-and-miss though and while sometimes you may not find what you're looking for, all the other times these apps ensure good quality content to meet your needs (c)Pintrest Like every year, Tinder has unfolded what's worked and what hasn't in order to find the right person and we're a little ecstatic with the research, because this definitely binds the millennial's more closely and helps them find what they're actually looking for. Here are 3 learning's that Tinder's come out within 2018, which can be carried over to 2019, to find you the right match (1) Emoji & GIFs Came Out As Strong Winners While we love to emote through words, we have GIFs and emoji's doing the better part of it for us. For instance, the 'waving fox' GIF was quite popular with people, while in the emoji section, the 'beer paired up with pizza' was most commonly used. I suppose it's become popular in asking the person out. Who says no to beers and pizza anyway? Maybe use more emoji's to emote conversations? I'd suggest the 'heart in eyes' emoji, which was also popularly used this year. (c)Pintrest (2) India Has Four Of The Most 'Superliked' Cities Argentina and DC remain on top, while in India, Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Gurgaon are where all the action happens. So, if you really want to find the right match, perhaps head to one of these cities? Delhi wins the race here though, as it's always known as the lonely hearts club. Mumbai seconds the order followed by Bengaluru and Gurgaon. If you're in these cities, keep swiping because the rate of matching with people is a lot higher here. (c)Pintrest (3) Valentine's Day Has a High Success Rate Yup, swiping around Valentine's Day is very beneficial might I add. That's because it's a day of love and people feel a lot more festive, where love is concerned. So, if you're having tough luck throughout the year finding someone, maybe start trying your luck a day or two before Valentine's Day and don't forget to log on the 14th of February as well! (c)Pintrest These are the three prominent findings Tinder indulged in this year and they promise to keep this going till the end of 2019 as well. So, if you're a regular app user, here's something you can really benefit from and strengthen your swipe game!
  4. There's some good news for Tinder users in India as the dating app is going all the way for gender inclusivity. Earlier one could only choose the options for 'man' or 'woman' but as per the latest press release , Tinder is now adding more options to its list for people who identify as transgender or even gender-neutral. © Tech crunch The initiative is meant to celebrate all the genders and allow everyone to have a smooth dating life. India's oldest LGBTQ organization, 'Humsafar Trust', was on the panel committee which actively recommended this change. The chairperson was quoted explaining the whole idea behind this initiative: “Tinder's new initiative celebrates the diversity and pluralism and truly represents the idea of India. For numerous Indians who identify as trans and non-binary, this will be their chance to be their true selves online and in person. It gives us great pleasure to be associated with Tinder on this bold move.” This will enable and ensure that everyone gets to authenticate themselves and have a healthy dating life. These options have been a part of Tinder in the US since 2016 and even though we might be late to the party, we are finally there.
  5. While we see the #MeToo movement pick up the pace in India, we also see men become a little more conscious of how they should talk and behave with women. In hindsight, it's a good thing but the very fact they have to be so conscious about their behaviour is a little sad. Sad because appropriate behaviour should be the foundation of every articulation and action taken by a man and if they have to put a conscious effort to do so, then it's rather unnerving. I am not negating the fact that men aren't making an effort in this generation, of course, they are and they're doing it quite well but the effort should come from a place of concern and reformation than fear of being named and shamed. Having said that, men wanting to date, hit on or hook up with women still hasn't changed and the culture still remains the same, barring some decorum changes, to say the least. But even with these decorum changes, you can offend a woman because momentarily, everything falls under the realms of sensitivity. How to meet women is still the question of the hour, and you should definitely find more ways and means to do so. As long as you keep up with the standards of appropriateness, it's all good folks. Tinder and other dating apps are still your go-to place to meet the women you really want to date or hook up with. How to start a conversation with them though, is what's important here. So, I rounded up 10 women and asked them what was the best conversation starter for men on Tinder (and other dating apps) to stay on the 'safer side' and I got some rather interesting replies: (1) Tinder is usually a scary place for me and I never really initiate a conversation there. But this one time a guy started off by being humorous and I humoured him because he was actually funny. I think it's best to start with something funny, to be on the safer side. He started his message by saying - 'Titanic. There's an icebreaker'. How could I not talk to him! - Sakshi, 28 © YouTube (2) I think the best way to start a conversation on a dating app is by saying a simple 'hey'. I can't stand it when men try too hard and crack really sad line openers, which no one understands. - Ragini, 22 (3) I'd really like a guy who'd just stop being cocky and start by saying 'hey how was your day?'. Because it's good to talk about your day with someone. Hasn't happened so far. - Sonya, 28 (4) I once went out with the guy on Tinder who asked me if it's okay to DM me further. I found it so humble, I thought I was in safe hands. - Sanya, 25 (5) The whole thing is to make a person feel safe. So please don't be creepy. I think the best opening line for Tinder is 'Hey, what's up'. Simple. Nitisha, 30 (6) I can't stand guys who show off. So if you want to start with an 'I own a BMW and I've been to 32 countries'. Like what's wrong with these men? - Rhea, 25 (7) I'd like it if the men out there are not sexist or put you down and talk with civility and not get persuasive. Because then that gets scary. So a good opener would be 'hey, it would be nice to get to know you'. Something like that? - Mika, 24 (8) 'Hi, I know we don't know each other but I'd like to take a chance and get to know you because we have similar interests!' - said no one ever. I wish they'd say something like this, instead of a cheesy pickup line. I barf every time that happens! - Kanishka, 27 (9) Can they please stop with the cheesy pickup lines? It's just annoying now. And it gives a sense of entitlement. I mean, I'm entitled to say anything I want and she has to laugh. Why can't they just say 'hey'. I promise women will respond and not unmatch you. - Tarini, 29 (10) Anything without being creepy, crude or horny works just fine. Even a simple 'hi' - Sukanya, 19 So, there we have it. Ten women telling us to keep it simple when you're interacting with someone on an online dating platform. Because this is what the need of the hour is. We want to continue the normalcy but also not promote ways that are offensive. So maybe say something really funny or something really grounded, like a 'hi'!
  6. First impressions, as superficial as they might be, are powerful. A good first impression can be the starting of something amazing, while a bad one can end potentially amazing things even before they start. When it comes to online dating, naturally, the first thing that anyone looks at is the display picture. When it comes to DPs, a good hairstyle can help you up your game like nothing else. Keeping that in mind, we have compiled a list of 7 hairstyles that will definitely get you right swipes on Tinder. Also, who better to take inspiration from, other than the ultimate ladies' man - Mr Ranveer Singh? 1. The Suave Gentleman (c) Instagram One thing everyone looks for in a prospective partner is class. This hairstyle is all about that. Plus, it goes with a date night as much as it does with a business meeting. 2. The Carefree Guy Next Door (c) Twitter This one is all about letting it loose. Short, angled, product-free, hassle-free - what's not to like? 3. The Intense Poet (c) Instagram The ladies love a man with an aura of mystery. This disheveled aesthetic is all about that. It makes you look talented, somehow. 4. The Super Edgy Artist (c) Instagram The man bun remains the edgiest hairstyle for men, come what may. You may not be an artist but it sure will make you look like one! 5. The Smooth Playboy (c) Twitter There is an inexplicably mischievous appeal in a well-done slick-back. Cash in on that! 6. The Sexy Rebel (c) Instagram You know who gets all the dates? Someone who looks like they don't give two hoots. Weird psychological thing, but that's how it usually works. Edgy, spiky, conspicuously unruly hair? Rock it we say. 7. The Long-Haired, Fit, Model-Looking Dude (c) Instagram This one is fail-safe. Yes, you'll probably not be getting matches for marriage, but right swipes? Yes.
  7. Vicky Kaushal made sure that the title of the biggest *** symbol in 2018 went to the constantly underrated 'guy-next-door'. The ladies are thronging him and how! Not just that he's a cracker of an actor, he also is an equally strong fashion icon, whose style game is on point. We looked at his various hairstyles over a period of time and decided that these are the hairstyles that would suit every guy next door, and are extremely doable. Take a look, because this is the style inspiration you need before your next salon visit: 1. The careless, casual mop is one of the best hairstyles if you believe in a low maintenance aesthetic. If you have wavy hair like Vicky, it works out the best. Just keep it well hydrated and conditioned, with regular clippings at the salon, and you're set. You don't even need a product! © Instagram 2. The carefully cropped, 'seedha ladka' hairdo suits you the best when you're about to woo your partner's parents. While it might just come across as supremely non-adventurous, it can look great with formalwear. Office meetings + Matrimonial meetings? This is the haircut to sport! © Twitter 3. If your hair has grown a bit after going for that close crop, just apply some serum and style it to give it that ethnic, 'Rajputana' edge. Works best with Indian ethnic wear. © Instagram 4. Yes, the fade is out there but there's a reason why. It's simple: It suits everyone. Want to clean up and sport a suave do? Go for the fade. It won't disappoint. © Instagram 5. Want to come out of your 'guy-next-door' image, at the risk of your parents' disapproval and never finding an arranged match? Go for this. Looks lit, if you're fit. © Instagram 6. Also known as the post break-up don't-care mop, this one is a classic guy-next-door hairdo. Why? Not because you essentially had a breakup and got this haircut as a direct result of your heartbreak, but because it's one of the easiest to sport. Requires no work, no maintenance, and the scruffy look is a turn on for a lot of women! So win-win, we say. © Twitter Take your pick!
  8. Imagine you've swiped right on this really cute girl's photo on Tinder and as your brilliant luck would have it, you've been matched. What's next, you exchange a few flirty yet corny text messages and try to discover the mystery that this girl is, before either of you can mention about a physical date. © Pixabay Fast forward to a few weeks of chatting her up and you feel now is just the right time to meet her and voila, it's a date! Now, all has been superb so far but you need to understand that a face-to-face meet-up is way different than a PM on a dating app, right? There is going to be that first hello, maybe perhaps with an awkward hug added to the mix, and then after you have taken your seats…. *silence* *awkward* *smile* and then either one of you might think about initiating a conversation. Well, good for you because we have got that “base” covered for you. Check out these super smooth one-liners that would break the ice for you, get you two at ease and help things to move forward in an easy, fun manner. Begin by getting the fun vibes going and get them to blush with something like this. Asking a very generic question with a personal aspect to it, also makes for a good conversation starter. Or else, if you'd rather prefer to keep it more interesting and get her to really talk, ask a more fun question like: However, if you're the hopeless, cheesy kind, you can go all out with this: For those of you who wish to cut the talk short, and you're sure that your date wouldn't mind a little playful repartee, then you should try something like this right here. If your girl happens to have philosophical inclinations, something like this would be just perfect. Or perhaps begin by asking a rather silly question and answer the same for her by throwing in a compliment (only if you mean it too). Do away with mid-convo silences by sneaking in a bit of silly intel about your life which can be turned into a joke: If you happen to be one of those shy personalities who take some time to open up, this next one would do wonders for you: If you feel your date is still a little too quiet and shy, try taking question tags to another level like so, and you're sure to catch her attention: Sometimes, when nothing else comes to mind, go topical with a topic you two can share a banter on: If you wish to really impress your date, then charm her by showing them a glimpse of your skills that's also an honest confession in disguise: The best way to charm a girl who also happens to be a goal-digger is with smart talk: To have her attention at all times, throw in some personal touches every now and then perhaps by asking them to make a confession: And finally, if you wish to find out whether she'd want to meet you for a second time, this one is your best bet. There you go. These are quick, real smooth, neat and the best part is, they work! Go try 'em the next time and you can thank us later.
  9. Have you ever started talking to a girl on a dating app and you feel like you're hitting it off and you ask for her number, but she refuses to give it out? Well, it might be too soon for her but at least she's politely declining instead of doing what Hannah did. It might not be the right thing to screw around with someone like that, but it sure is hilarious and at the end of the day, humour is the only thing that matters. Let's begin this funny story of Hannah finding the most perfect excuse when she doesn't want to give her number to random guys. Here it goes. So, the guy – Patrick – gave her his number and now the ball was in her court. It was up to her to message him or call him first. But, when you don't want to do that, play it smart, and have some fun while you can. She simply said, 'wait that's my number' even though that's impossible, but people can sometimes be dumb, so it's understandable. Patrick is confused. She then turns it around on him, saying 'you're kidding me right?' and also innocently claiming 'how she can't make this up'. She even convinced him that they have the same phone carrier and it was their mistake that both of them ended up with the same freaking number. Look at that last message – 'I wish I could call you'. I feel bad for him, he seems so defeated. Imagine thinking you're missing out on talking to a girl just because your phone carrier screwed up. i just convinced a tinder boy we had the same number so i didnt have to text him pic.twitter.com/guDBlP3iw3 — hannah (@hannahhhhxoxo) August 22, 2018 That's kinda evil, but it's so hilarious and I still can't believe Patrick actually bought it. She even proved that he actually believed it, because some people were calling it bullshit. update for yall who didnt think he believed me pic.twitter.com/Mt26f8xC0r — hannah (@hannahhhhxoxo) August 23, 2018 This was me after reading the conversation. update for yall who didnt think he believed me pic.twitter.com/Mt26f8xC0r — hannah (@hannahhhhxoxo) August 23, 2018 That was the best part. Shit had me dying lmaoo how can you be this dumb??! — Risky. (@RiskyRoss22) August 23, 2018 And lastly, this article would be incomplete without this gif. Imagine if she made someone call him asking for Hannah and he was just like –
  10. For the uninitiated, 'Tinder Nightmares' is a rather hilarious page on Instagram that narrates, through screenshots, instances of bad Tinder openers or one liners. Mostly it's the guy doing the talking and the woman being at the receiving end of it but it's not all that morose or perverse, because some of the stuff is actually quite funny. Usually when women see an unabashed, volatile message on Tinder from a guy, they either ignore it or un-match him but some of these women have been nothing short of savage and have given the men a complete run for some of the smart alec comments made by them. Maybe our generation doesn't know how to start a simple conversation with a 'hi' or maybe we're so entitled to demand what is not ours, that garbing really insulting one-liners has become a thing, for this generation. Whatever it is, there's a page made about it now and everyone's deriving unscrupulous pleasures out of it, including me! Bet this group was made by a bunch of pissed off women? Anyway, we've compiled the best screenshots from Tinder, taken and put up by this page proving Tinder can be an actual nightmare sometimes!
