  1. This season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) seems to have aggravated the growingly unhealthy relationship that cricketers and umpires have shared in the recent years. The 'human factor' behind an official's decision-making has caused for the end result to be incorrect but the number of occurrences of something like that is extremely low. Sure, with the inclusion of technology such as the hawk-eye which detects the trajectory of the ball had it not been interrupted by the batsman's pad, sensors in the stumps and bails to detect contact and even the snickometer to observe even the lightest contact between the ball and the bat, they all have added to the efficacy of the final result, however, there will always be times when an umpire makes a decision on his own and it could end up being wrong. Through the ongoing season of IPL, there have been some moments when the umpires and players seem to disagree on a particular decision. It happened when Dhoni walked out of the dug-hole and onto the field to get into a verbal bout with the officials, it happened when Rohit Sharma did not agree with an LBW decision and ended up breaking the stumps with his bat and it happened with Virat Kohli who went to the umpires' dressing room to fight them when they didn't call a potential match-winning 'no-ball' in favour of his Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the current skipper of the Indian cricket team seems to be dealing with some extra bad luck as the tiff with an on-field umpire took place once again on Saturday in a match against Kane Williamson's SunRisers Hyderabad. In the first innings the match with RCB on the bowling side, it was Umesh Yadav who was having a super expensive final over during which he has given away 20 runs in the first four deliveries. On the second-to-last ball of the over, English umpire, Nigel Llong raised his hand sideways to hint that Yadav has overstepped the crease and it was therefore a 'no-ball'. The extra not only gave Hyderabad two runs but they also ended up scoring a boundary on the final delivery. The twist, however, was the fact that the delivery was legit as the screen-replay showed Yadav's foot being well behind the line. Watching the replay, both Yadav and Kohli charged at the umpire to argue and reverse the decision, both of whom were shunned away by the Englishman. © AP What was later reported was that Llong was so frustrated with the two Indian cricketers way of arguing with him that he ended up furiously kicking the door of the umpires' dressing room while breaking it in the process. "It was an unfortunate incident. As a state association, we are writing to the COA today," Sudhakar Rao, Secretary, Karnataka State Cricket Association, told The Times of India. What is probably a solitary moment of frustration and anger shown by an umpire in the past couple of years, must not be taken lightly. What the players and the fans of the game do not realise is the fact that these officials are humans too and like the others, they too, have the right to express their anger when things go south. It also shows how difficult a job is that of an umpire. While players surrounding them have the freedom to express joy, anger, or sadness without a worry, the umpires must keep it neutral and professional.
  2. Ever since my childhood, I was fascinated towards sports and cricket was my forte. The basic fitness required for playing demanded everyday drills. And to say the least, I was a champ at doing these drills. I still remember doing the maximum number of push-ups and running the most laps of the cricket ground. Soon into the first year of my grads, I was hooked onto building a physique. This is where my struggle started. All the regular push-ups that I did back in school did make me a bit strong but not as strong as I wanted to be. I decided to quit playing all sports and took up a gym membership. And just like any rookie, I started weight training twice a day. I slogged for hours on end six times a week. As far as nutrition was concerned, it was simply crap. I knew nothing about eating and protein intake. I ate what most gym bros ate- bananas before workout and eggs post-workout. Probably the stupidest thing I have ever done. The nutrition was just not there. Unsurprisingly, a few months into training, I still looked like shit. Pretty soon, somebody convinced me to believe that weight training before the age of 20 hinders height growth. I got so scared that I gave up weight training. Soon I was found myself drinking and smoking and soon, this became an addiction. Somewhere inside, I still had a dream of building a good looking physique. I joined a gym again and then again, as random trainers led me into doing stupid stuff. Yet again, there were no results and this time it tested my patience. Almost Got Into Steroids Tired of looking skinny fat, I looked at using steroids. A guy at the gym, of course, a regular user, advised me to do it. I gave it a thought but luckily due to being short on funds, I pulled back. I was almost convinced to invest in it but luckily I was short on funds, and later on, I simply quit the gym. My Job Made It Worse Soon after my MCA, I got into an IT job. As you would guess, it demanded me to sit for hours on end. Years passed by like this and my physique became worse. For one final time, I bucked up and looked through the internet and came across GetSetGo Fitness and trained under the guidance of Nagarjuna. Initially, I found it tough to cook all my meals and hitting the gym in the morning, since I came from being completely sedentary. But Nagarjuna guided me in preparing all my meals and answered all my questions. Hard Work Pays Off With the right guidance on nutrition and training, today I have a physique that I always wanted to have. Right now, I am training right and eating just as required. I have further set goals for the future as well.
  3. Elon Musk can do a lot of things (I don't even have to give examples, cos no one can even dispute this) but turns out growing facial hair is not one of those things. It's kind of sad that he can make the hair on his head make a comeback but he can't really grow a moustache. Cue the 'you're not ugly, just broke' cliché. © Twitter But, since technology has come so far - much to Chris Evans' dismay - there are other ways to show everyone your capability of growing hair. Yep, Elon used some really advanced technology to give himself a moustache and he was so impressed with the result that he showed it off with his profile picture on Twitter. #NewProfilePic pic.twitter.com/W4xT1ywqjA — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) January 7, 2019 Haters will say it's photoshop but we should really appreciate how seamless it is. 4. I started my fitness journey nearly 3 years ago. As a rookie, I had no idea how much of a role diet played in the making of an impressive physique. I used to work out before as well but could never be where I stand today. At around 72 kilos, I first stepped into the gym. Through months, I met a number of guys suggesting different diets. Right form Keto to low carbohydrate, I was suggested almost every diet by the gym bros. After reading a lot about Keto, I got on the diet. 8 months down the keto route, I did lose weight but got nowhere close to the physique I wanted. Since Internet was my only source of knowledge, I stumbled upon macros and calories. As my interest grew, I started exploring more and more. I never missed my workouts and ate grilled chicken and salads dreaming about a ripped body. Of course, I was ill-informed and hence my socializing was on the lower side. The Keto Stupidity Being on Keto was one of the stupidest things I have ever done dieting wise. As one of the harshest diets, keto will rob you off a lot of liberty to live and socialize. You simply can't just avoid carbohydrates. You can't keep on eating chicken, eggs and cheese for months on end. Then I was told that it was the all about calories that mattered for fat loss, not specific types of foods. This changed everything for me. While people told me to get on steroids, quit eating salt and what not, I was mentally sold on counting my calories. After Learning The Concept Of Calorie Counting Presently, I weigh and count all the food I eat in a day. It's a very regular thing. There are plenty of carbs in my diet and I almost eat whatever I like in moderation. This has made life extremely easy for me. The diet fits right into my schedule and following it doesn't beat my mental peace. The formula is simple- eat more calories while bulking and eat lesser calories while cutting. You can read this to know how to go about counting calories. While I was struggling to find that ONE perfect diet, it was Pratik Thakkar from GetSetGo Fitness who taught me the above mentioned principle for effective fat loss. It's The Knowledge And Consistency People usually think that excessive exercise and supplements are what you need for building a good physique. The truth is exactly opposite to that. What you need is the right information about effective fat loss from people who know what they are saying and top that up with consistent effort in the gym and in the kitchen. What you will have is a recipe for successfully building a great body. Won't Stop! Fitness is now an integral part of my life. I have worked hard and now I am getting good at working smartly around my nutrition too. A well-built physique says a lot about a person and I suggest everyone to hire a good coach since that's an investment, not an expense.
  5. Fitness has been a popular industry in 2018. It has become lucrative to be a part of it, as people are endlessly spending their money on fitness products and services like coaching, supplements, personal training, etc. At the same time, charlatans have made quick profit as well, as their sole purpose is to mislead people and take their money. They go to extremes like launching a Ketogenic Whey Protein to injecting steroids in young kids who want to build some muscle or lose some fat. Like every cloud has a silver lining, there are still sensible, helpful, and smart people in the industry who genuinely want to help people out giving the right information. If you do not want to go down the rabbit hole of misinformation and potentially hurt yourself in the name of fitness, you need to follow these accounts today (in no particular order). 1. If you have not heard it yet, I would highly recommend you to do so. 2. James Smith (@jamessmithpt) View this post on Instagram Day 1 - White girl wasted at not one but two brunches. Spencer Nadolsky (@drnadolsky) View this post on Instagram Want to have a doc who can help you with your blood sugars, cholesterol, and blood pressure through lifestyle changes? I'm right here. Not only that but I'll actually have time to spend with you since I got out of the regular inefficient medical system. - Right now you go to your doctor and you get about 10 minutes with them. They tell you what you already know. You already know you need to eat better. You know you need to do more physical activity and you understand that your weight may be causing some of your issues. Problem is, the doc probably doesn't know how to help you and if they do, they don't even have enough time. - So here's the deal, @steadymd asked me a couple years ago to start taking patients via online to help with this madness. I've capped myself around 220 patients for about a year now but I'm opening it up to more (about 30 more). - How does it work? You pay 99 bucks a month and you get an initial hour long video consult with me. I have my license in most states now. Sorry rest of the world I don't have power elsewhere. - After the initial hour long consult where I get to know you, I can order labs and even medicines if you need refills (no controlled meds through the internet like adderall or testosterone sorry). You then have access to me via your phone or computer similar to text messaging. - We do not take insurance. This allows us to spend time on you without the insurance hassles. - How can I do physical exams? Technically I don't. I can do most things I need through talking to you and looking at labs but there are new cool gadgets I can recommend that allow me to listen to your heart and lungs better than if I were in the office with you. - Who is this for? This is perfect for those who have blood sugar/pressure/cholesterol issues along with hypothyroidism. Those tend to be the patients that love it most. I have gotten many patients off their sugar and pressure meds using lifestyle. - You will also have the option of adding on my amazing nutrition coach for an extra fee once you sign up. - I wouldn't sign up if you're healthy and don't have an extra $99 a month. - Ready to start? click link in bio to sign up A post shared by Spencer Nadolsky (@drnadolsky) on Nov 23, 2018 at 7:28am PST An obesity medicine physician by profession, Dr. Nadolsky has the necessary education and the experience to deal with issues related to weight and obesity. 7. It is raining, 'Netlflix and chill' needs to happen and so does the manadatory cupboard cleaning right? well, if you love procrastinating everything and today seems like a Sunday where you just need to stare the fan and make life decisions, then this small playlist will help ease out your tired soul: 1. Zinda Hoon Yaar- The song for that time when anyone wants to make plans with a lazier version of you. Jokes apart, this one hits the chords of the heart like a familiar ache. 2. Tum Ho- Who can go wrong with a Mohit Chauhan number playing in the background while you clean out that cupboard? 3. Chamba Kitni Door- Another Mohit Chauhan number which is a very famous Himachali folk song as well. If you are not in Kasauli, it doesn't matter, this song will ease that wanderlust feeling. 4. Tum Meri Baahon Mein- A movie which was long forgotten but the songs still stay strong. An innocent Hrithik asking why he fell in love in the first place is all of us asking the same question to an unrequited love. 5. Meer-E-Kaarwan- A beautiful hymn like song that can brighten up even the dullest of moods on a lazy Sunday evening. 6. Madno- Two versions, both beautifully sung and both touch your soul in the same way! 7. Ishq Di Baajiyan- The latest Diljit number that is not talking about a 'Patiala peg' but the simplicity of his love for the woman of his dreams. 8. Kinna Sohna- The movie might be a dud but this romantic number takes the age old 'kinna sohna' compliment and spells it out beautifully. If nothing else, just listen to this for your own sake.
  8. The trailer of Salman Khan's Production film 'Loveratri' starring Salman's brother-in-law Aayush Sharma and newcomer Warina Hussain, has just dropped and it certainly shows Bhaijaan's love for his family. Just some days ago, the teaser of the movie was released and now comes the full trailer. No doubt the debutant couple looks refreshing and share a sizzling chemistry, but the same cannot be said about the drab storyline. © SKF Following the lazy Bollywood mantra, this rom-com is stale, repetitive and B-town's tried-and-tested recipe. © SKF No doubt the trailer is colourful and vibrant and gives us a real festive vibe. In fact, it does make you wanna dance and enjoy the feeling of Navratri. And what can we say about the Darshan Raval's song that is already stuck in our heads? The particular track has its own charm and clearly, is the highlight of the trailer. © SKF The trailer brings us the story of Sushrut (Aayush) from Baroda, who falls in love with an NRI girl (Warina). The two instantly click and there begins their love story. But of course, what love story is complete without its fair dose of obstacles and dard? Soon he realises that she will be leaving India after Navratri, and the rest of the trailer takes us through all the things one must do to win their love. We see Sushrut travelling abroad and doing everything to please the girl and her father (Ronit Roy). Because, why not? © SKF Adding to the story are also small cameos by Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan. The movie also features Ram Kapoor in a pivotal role. © SKF No doubt, Aayush and Warina shine bright and look promising on-screen, but at the same time, we wish the plot had some level of originality. Directed by Abhiraj Maniwala, 'Loveratri' will hit the theatres on October 5.
  9. My parents have way more energy than me. There, I said it! It's amazing how my 30-year-old body is on the verge of having a breakdown, while my 50-year-old parents are still in the pink of health. Now in my defence, I always tell them how work pressure did not exist in their time. Even though my father worked in a private company, he was almost always home by 7 pm, irrespective of his impending work. Fast forward to 2018 and my life is running on a completely different tangent. From working obnoxiously late hours to literally not focusing on health, the result is a complete mess of my body and mind. Erratic work hours and the pressure to perform have almost left me with little to no energy on weekends. I find myself in bed the whole day, trying to recuperate from the utter madness of the past week. Thankfully, the realization has dawned on me. Life is not meant to be lived like this. I had to make some serious changes to my lifestyle, and I had to do it NOW. The forever tired soul of mine needed some awakening, and this is what I did. The 20 Minute Run Unsplashed Yes, I am sure you have heard about the benefits of a good run, and I am not going to repeat the same. But, for someone who has detested any form of exercise, this 20-minute daily workout has transformed my life for the better. Choose morning, afternoon, or evening, whatever works for you, and just step out for a good 20-minute run. In just a week, you will feel your body becoming more active and energetic. Fill Your Stomach With Protein, Not Carbs Unsplashed The one thing that was surely the root cause of my laziness was the overindulgence of carbs in my diet, especially for dinner. I used to fill my stomach with everything that was not meant to be eaten after 7 pm. But I realized how carbs were only filling up my stomach, and not really providing any nutritional value. Now, I eat more of protein and vegetables with little to no carbs, and I feel more energetic, happier and content with my body. Hydrate! Unsplashed Your body needs a hefty amount of liquid to function well. Listen to it and fill it up with all that it needs. Have water, fresh juice, lemon water and the works. The key is to stay hydrated. Take This Magic Concoction Of Himalaya Whey Protein Shake Thank God for this ultimate concoction of whey protein shake. With regular exercising, my body needs its source of protein, which it gets from Himalaya Quista Pro Advanced Whey Formula. It contains 3 whey protein blend, concentrate, isolate, & hydrolysate for faster absorption. Fortified with peptides & taurine which minimize post-injury workout and hasten recovery, Quista Pro is enriched with herbal actives that develop bone health and build stamina. It is also enriched with BCAA which improves exercise performance. So, include this in your daily diet and feel the difference. Hit The Sack By 10 PM Unsplashed The most difficult change I had to make in order to live a healthy life was to switch off my Netflix and hit the sack, latest by 10 pm! The benefits of going to bed early are plenty. You will have a deeper sleep and feel more rejuvenated in the morning, so try this out Say No To Technology After The Sun Sets Unsplashed Technology has taken over our lives, and it's time we show them their rightful place in our lives. Cellphones and laptops are hampering your sleep and you need to make a conscious decision to kick the habit of scrolling down. Suryanamaskars Are Life Altering Unsplashed Yoga is life and I realized that when I started practicing it. The sheer peace and flexibility that it brings is enough to be a fan for life. Try doing just 10 surya namaskars early in the morning and feel the difference in your work output, relationships, and overall health. So, include these 7 changes in your life like I did and feel the difference. Your body will thank you.
