  3. The popularity of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is reaching new heights every season. This year, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to generate over Rs 800 crores in revenue thanks to sponsorship and other deals. The success IPL has managed to achieve and sustain over the years has not really gone down well with some of the former international players and cricket pundits, especially from England. Time and again they come up with negative remarks about the cash-rich league. Recently, former England batter David Gower had blamed IPL for England's humiliating loss in the Ashes series Down Under where they lost the five-match Test series 4-0. England went winless the whole summer...#Ashes pic.twitter.com/f6SeeWkh4N — cricket.com.au (@cricketcomau) February 8, 2022 A few months later, another England great David Lloyd slammed the IPL for damaging the traditional international cricket. With the 15th season of IPL approaching, teams who have their international matches scheduled are finding it hard to keep their star players available for international cricket as they had opted to feature in the cash-rich league. South Africa won't have their full-strength squad available for the Test series against Bangladesh and even New Zealand will not field their best XI against Afghanistan. However, it is a decision taken by players and even their respective boards are respecting the players' decisions. South Africa are likely to field a weakened squad for the home Tests against Bangladesh, with all their Test players choosing to go to the IPL instead — ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) March 15, 2022 Despite that David Lloyd jumped the gun and targetted the IPL which is nothing but his own personal opinion. "Already, South Africa’s full attack is not available for upcoming Tests against Bangladesh, and New Zealand have 12 men ruled out of selection versus Afghanistan. Make no mistake, the IPL is disrupting the traditional international programme," David Lloyd was quoted as saying by Mirror.co.uk. Well, Indian fans know how to give it back to those who try to downplay Indian cricket and it was nothing different this time around as they took to Twitter to slam Lloyd's unnecessary criticism of the franchise-based league. Every one in england is like that only keep peddling subtle negativity around Indian cricket and specially IPL — Ayush Srivastava (@sriman_ayush) March 20, 2022 English are rattled because its not their tournament in leading...its an indian thing and earning triple amount as compare to them — Kishan Sharma3 (@Sharma3Kishan) March 20, 2022 Had IPL been a English tournament they would have credited they would have hailed it — SHAIK KHURSHEED JAVED (@FadedJani) March 20, 2022 Wo dawid gower bhi ipl ko blame karraha tah eng test failure key liye aur psl mey commentary kar raha tah. — Name Is Name (@lonewolf7826) March 20, 2022 Interestingly, Lloyd used to be a commentator in the IPL back in the day but now that he is no longer contracted by the BCCI, he is openly criticising the tournament for the downfall of overall international cricket standards. Ironically, when former England players were busy blaming the IPL for their Ashes loss, it was one of the mainstays in the IPL Jonny Bairstow who scored the only hundred across five Tests in Australia. 6. The festive and wedding season is here, which means you would find yourself donning the classic Indian wear pieces like kurtas and Nehru jackets more often than ever in the coming few months. While some men love to pull off traditional clothes, for others it might not connect with their personal style. © Instagram/Varun Dhawan For men who find ethnic clothes a snoozefest, we would like to declare that Indian wear can look super cool too. You can style your most basic white kurta with some quirky accessories, stylish footwear or snub your traditional clothing items for some trendy Indian clothes and you are all set. © iStock If you think traditional style is not your jam, here are four handy tips to amp up your ethnic style and sail through the wedding and festive time smoothly and stylishly: 1. Try Different Styles © Instagram/Rajkummar Rao Maybe you feel ethnic clothes are boring because you haven’t really seen what’s really out there. There are a bunch of cool styles and eccentric looks that you can give a try. Ditch a kurta pyjama for a short kurta and straight pants that are comfy yet elegant. Or get an asymmetrical kurta or a statement jacket instead of a Nehru jacket. The options are limitless. 2. Blend Tradition & Trends © Instagram/Vicky Kaushal There is no rule when it comes to wearing traditional clothing. You can add chic items and elements in your ethnic wear or mix and match to make a cool OOTD for yourself. Switch up your style a bit and invest in an Indo-western outfit that gives you the best of both worlds while dressing according to the occasion. 3. Team It Up With Stylish Shoes © Instagram/Isha Bhansali A good and right pair of shoes can instantly make any outfit. If Jodhpuri juttis seem too boring and done to death to you, you could give kolhapuris or comfy mules a try. Also, you could pair your festive wear with your trusted pair of sneakers and pull off the cool dude look. 4. Add In Cool Accessories © Instagram/Aditya Roy Kapur Pairing your ethnic wear with stylish accessories and add-ons can make a big difference. A long necklace or chain, a printed pocket square, a pair of trendy sunglasses, a brooch, a nice bracelet or a watch can do the trick. View the full article
  7. Sneha Ullal has always been compared with Aishwarya Rai and her latest Instagram post has once again stirred the same emotions. Recently, she shared a black and white photo of herself dressed in a traditional outfit and the picture is making everyone compare her to Aishwarya. Many fans wrote in the comments section saying that she looks exactly like Aishwarya. One user commented, “For a moment I thought you were Aishwarya.” Another one also wrote, "Aishwarya Rai’s Xerox copy.” One fan also wrote, “Had to look at the name to be sure..Aishwarya looks alike so much.” Check out the post here- View this post on Instagram Sneha Ullal was launched alongside Salman Khan in the film Lucky No Time For Love in 2006. However, since Aishwarya was Salman Khan’s ex-girlfriend, Bhai's fans noticed the resemblance immediately. Sneha had also told Hindustan Times in an interview after her debut, “I am a big admirer of Aishwarya Rai for her work and achievements in the film industry but to be very honest I am not really happy being compared to her for my looks. I want to have my own individuality. What can I do if I look like her? I don’t want to be so but can’t change my looks now. I love to be known and recognized for my own work and achievements." View this post on Instagram Sneha also expressed that she had met Aishwarya once. She said, “I have met her once at a function and she met me with all respect and warmth. I liked it very much. To be true, in the beginning, I wanted to avoid her but then I changed my mind and went and said ‘Hi’ ‘to her.” She also said that the comparisons were only made because of Salman Khan, “I really think those comparisons have been unfair to me professionally. If I hadn’t made my debut in Lucky, it would have been all okay. I was compared to Aishwarya Rai.. only because of Salman Khan.” Here’s what people have to say about the latest pictures on social media- © Sneha Ullal IG What do you think? 8. There's a lot of buzz in B-town about Ibrahim Ali. Not just because he is a spitting image of his father, Saif Ali Khan but also because of his fashion game. He is often seen wearing some uber-cool outfits. From his flamboyant red pants to his super quirky sneakers, his style is rather unconventional and he can pull off almost anything with absolute panache. © Viral Bhayani © Facebook/Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla Speaking of which, Ibrahim once again happened to wow us in a brand new avatar. The 20-year-old ruled hearts of many in a traditional, regal look which again reminded all of us of the younger Saif. Designer Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla shared a picture, in which Ibrahim can be seen flaunting his washboard abs in a front open jacket. He is wearing a patola mirror work jacket and resham threads on it. The upper is coupled with navy blue Pathani salwar. © Facebook/Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla The designers captioned the image and called Ibrahim "21st Century Boy". He kept his hair unkempt for this look and went sans accessories. © Instagram/Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla However, this isn't the first time Ibrahim turned muse for the designer duo. Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim both are often seen wearing outfits by them and have posted pictures in some classic ensembles. Take a look. © Instagram/Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla © Instagram/Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla © Instagram/Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla All we can say is that we are waiting for Ibrahim to finally announce his appearance on the big screen. Till then, we are going to keep a check on more such drool-worthy pictures of his. View the full article
  9. Some of the best movies we watched while growing up included names like K3G or a DDLJ, because not only did they cater to the masses, they also represented our ‘larger than life’ thoughts in the best way possible. However, Bollywood and cinema have evolved over the years. Content is the true king now, and while filmmakers are now making movies which don’t follow a clichéd structure, there are some great experimental movies which have actually challenged how we look at conventional filmmaking and changed the way we perceive cinema. Here are 8 such movies which are a must-watch for anyone who is looking for some brilliant content: 1. PushpakThis silent movie can make more noise than many other movies. The story follows an unemployed man who finds a rich man lying drunk on the road side. He abducts him and eventually wears his name and feigns his identity. This film won a National Award for being the ‘most popular film’, and rightly so! 2. LSDNo one was prepared for this movie when it released in 2010. With a small budget in hand and no big names in the star cast, this movie continues to be one of the rare niche movies which questioned commercial filmmaking. The storytelling format is simply outstanding with this one. 3. No SmokingA neo-noir psychological thriller that made people sit up and really rattle their brains for a while. I personally know a few people who actually took a sabbatical from smoking as well. The movie follows a chain smoker who checks into a rehab to quit smoking. He eventually signs a cheque for 21 lakhs and is warned before release, that his family will be harmed in case he begins smoking again. No spoilers, just watch this if you still haven’t. 4. AK vs AKThe most interesting aspect of this Anurag Kashyap experimental venture is the real-time shooting style of this documentary/film. The daughter of a film star gets kidnapped by a cynical director and the actor is forced to look for her as he is being filmed in the process. A very interesting watch, to say the least. 5. Ship Of TheseusThis movie brings together a monk, a stock broker and a photographer who try to unravel questions of justice, beauty and more importantly, the meaning of this life. This movie is directed by Anand Gandhi, has a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes and also won a National Award for the ‘best feature film’. 6. Finding FannyThis one was a mixed bag in terms of the reception it got from the public. A satirical comedy film, this movie has a group of odd ball personalities who embark on a road trip together with a common journey that is leading them to find a certain ‘Fanny’. A simple story which will leave you with multiple afterthoughts. 7. Jaane Bhi Do YaaroAn extremely powerful movie which was way ahead of its time if you compare the kind of projects that were being made in 1983. This is a comedy movie which follows two photographers who are employed by a newspaper to photograph and expose the rich class. Accidentally, while trying to uncover the doings of a builder, they end up witnessing a murder. This movie is a must-watch for every Indian which gives you a glimpse in the real class divide of our nation. Extremely relevant in 2021 as well. 8. LudoThis was one of the genius creative bouts of ace story teller Anurag Basu. Put a group of people, add situational comedy, some epiphanies, some personal revelations, and make this all a part of this wonderful game called Ludo. That’s the whole recipe of the story and this is one experiment that went down quite well with the audiences. View the full article
