  1. It seems as if the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) skipper Ravichandran Ashwin is on his own quest to make the idea of 'mankading' an officially accepted phenomenon in the world of cricket. Well, the consistency and dedication with which he often tries to cheekily dismiss the batsman on the non-striker's end, most definitely hints at that. It is because of Ashwin's repeated attempts to do so and back his actions out in public every single time by saying that 'mankading' isn't against the rules of international cricket that he has created a sense of horror in the hearts of the runners who used to try and get a small advantage by stepping out of the crease while the bowler was mid-way into his bowling action. Having said that, one has got to agree that constantly keeping a check on something like this and that too on the non-striker's end, has to adversely affect the batsmen's concentration and in turn lead to bad performance with the bat. It is safe to say that one of these days, a player would kick back to Ashwin's actions and let him know how the rest of the batsmen actually feel. The day was finally here when in an Indian Premier League match between KXIP and Shreyas Iyer's Delhi Capitals were going head to head in the famed Feroz Shah Kotla stadium of the national capital. It was in the 13th over of Kings XI's bowling when the captain decided to go back to his tricks to dismiss the Delhi opener Shikhar Dhawan when the batsman was completely out of the crease but his bat wasn't. In the middle of his bowling action, Ashwin stopped, taking a glimpse where Dhawan was standing and turned around to knock the bails off the stumps. However, after realising that Gabbar's bat was inside the crease, he decided to continue to walk away to bowl the delivery. Dhawan, as we know him, did not want to let this opportunity escape to show some dance moves to his home crowd and mock the Chennai-born athlete with whom he once shared the Indian dressing room. WATCH: Shikhar's dance moves on the crease ð½ï¸ð½ï¸https://t.co/KtJkaIpubw — IndianPremierLeague (@IPL) April 20, 2019 This was also for the second time in two overs that Ashwin had stopped halfway through his bowling routine to keep a check on the rival batter on the bowler's end and even the commentators acknowledged the fact. Overjoyed by watching Dhawan bringing social justice to Ashwin in the form of a comfortable stretch followed by what was a “twist from the '60s” according to the announcers, cricket fans expressed their amuse on social media: Did Ashwin really try to runout the non striker again? 𤠗 Dean Jones (@ProfDeano) April 20, 2019 Nice one from Gabbar 𤣠trolling Ashwin — DivyaSree Padupalli (@DP_DivyaSree) April 20, 2019 Mastermind, King and Gabber **The presence of mind** This is the reason they are in wc squad. @msdhoni @imVkohli @SDhawan25 — Pavithra (@Pavithr89452187) April 20, 2019 .@SDhawan25 you beauty! 2. You can use various adjectives to describe the amiable beauty that Sonakshi Sinh truly is, but nothing fits more aptly than the title of 'Dabangg' for Ms Sinha, who has steered clear of any negativity that the glam, but sometimes, harsh world of Bollywood might throw at a star. A blockbuster debut with the 'bhai' of the glam world himself, a career path that enabled her to don many hats with the choice of roles she took over the years, Sonakshi has come a long way and carved her own niche. © Rahul Jhangiani As she gears us for her big release 'Kalank', Sonakshi graced the first-ever digital cover of iDiva where she gave a quick master class on the A-Z of Bollywood and how she slams the door on any kind of negativity in her life like a boss. “I somehow mastered the art of blocking negativity early in my career. We are in the business where social media plays an important role in our lives and everyone has an opinion they are free to put out there. It is important to understand that with the bad, comes the good and it is always better to focus on the good. Social media has its advantages and disadvantages but, mostly, it gives me direct access to my fans, " she said. Sonakshi is known for being active on social media for all the right reasons where she pours love on her fans and also slams the haters with an equal amount of energy. With Bollywood turning into a factory of new star kids making their debut every year, Sonakshi stays unperturbed with the unending comparisons and she is in no competition with anyone out there. "I love doing what I do, and that keeps me going. I get to play exciting characters and meet new people while I'm at it. My biggest learning as an actor has been that you need to keep going. There will be ups and downs which is a part of your profession. The important thing is that you need to stay positive and keep your head on your shoulders and not let your enthusiasm for your work dim. I treat every film like my first film and that's why my work excites me”. © Rahul Jhangiani © Rahul Jhangiani As they say, you're known by the company you keep. For Sonakshi, her friendships are golden, just like her name. "My closest friends are not from the industry. Their behaviour towards me hasn't changed since I became an actor and that helps keep it real. There will always be competition, but that should only be a motivator and make you work harder on yourself and your craft." Trolls, unwanted pessimism and hate have no place in the world of Sonakshi Sinha who is Bollywood's 'asli Sona' and she knows exactly how to make things change her way, thanks to her own Midas touch.
  3. A lot of people may not be a fan of Justin Bieber - or are they after 'Despacito'? I don't know, I can't keep up - but him being a protective and incredible husband today would make anyone respect him. Basically, what went down was that Justin shared a picture of Hailey Bieber on Instagram, which is pretty standard, I mean a husband sharing his wife's picture. Don't miss out his toe, tho. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Justin Bieber (@justinbieber) on Mar 25, 2019 at 6:51pm PDT And then, someone decided to leave a nasty message because online trolls are the worst at times. It was basically a hate account dedicated to Hailey. The comment was directed at both Hailey and Justin, with the person basically saying the only reason Justin married Hailey was to get Selena Gomez back. Yep, someone actually told a very much in love, married man that HE doesn't love his wife. 404 Error: No logic found. What even? He's married, people, stop bringing up his exes. Even Justin himself was so fed up by this, he took the time to personally write out a long reply putting the troll in their place, and give out an explanation once and for all. If you look past the grammar - or the lack of it - it's a pretty good, hard-hitting reply. This is a man who has millions of fans who would demonize any person he's linked with for some reason, and he's had enough. He even posted it on his story so that everyone can see, because his comment is now deleted. Honestly, this is how you defend someone you love. Whatever anyone thinks of Justin, this was straight up husband goals, don't even deny it.
  4. Indian parents are a different league altogether and I bet you'd agree with me. If you haven't had a 'chappal' swung at you, have you even had a memorable childhood? From being savage to making sure you're the laughing stock of the family, Indian parents are a league apart and this Indian guy's tweet is stated testimony. via GIPHY Siddhu, a Twitter user (@cheekyponnama), talked about how his mother liked keeping his picture in her wallet, all the time. The lad got mighty emotional when he saw his picture in her wallet and went on to Tweet about it. But what he didn't expect was the answer that came as a surprise to him and really put him in his place with his mother's savage comeback. My mum has a photo of me in her wallet and not of my siblings. She said whenever she faces an obstacle, she looks at my photo and the problem disappears. I felt really touched till she said, she also tells herself, “what other problem can be bigger than this one?” ð¥ð¥ð¥ — Siddhu (@cheekyponnama) 17 February 2019 He realised what she was trying to say only when she finished her sentence. Ouch! 'She said whenever she faces an obstacle, she looks at my photo and the problem disappears,' he wrote. 'I felt really touched till she said, she also tells herself, “what other problem can be bigger than this one?' Now do you have a clearer understanding of what Indian mothers, if not parents, are like? They definitely love adding more fuel to fire, just so they can have some fun at your expense. 5. Following a crazy bidding war last December, the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to enthral cricket fans as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) host Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the opening clash on 23rd March. With the opening match pitting two of the biggest cricketers Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni against each other, the fans have already begun placing their bets on their favourite team on the social media. Despite the general elections coinciding with the upcoming IPL season, the fact that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has carefully ensured that the matches are played in India, further cheered the home fans. With IPL 2019 just a month away, the buzz amongst the fans in anticipation of the upcoming season appears to be at an all-time high. ð¨ Announcement ð¨: The #VIVOIPL schedule for the first two weeks is out. One such hilarious incident has been brought to the limelight by Ishant Sharma's wife Pratima Singh on social media. After going unsold at the auctions last season, Ishant's improved performance with the Indian team in Test cricket helped him in finding a suitor in Delhi Capitals who fought with Rajasthan Royals in the bidding war to secure the services of the seamer for Rs 1 crore. But, while Ishant is busy preparing to live up to his price tag this season, his wife Pratima - a professional basketball player - has found herself tackling the absurd requests of fans. Taking to Instagram, she shared a screenshot of the conversation with a fan who sought her help for the tickets. "For the world its yey !!! IPL is coming, for cricketers and their family OMG IPL is coming !! Log Tickets le liye phone karenge (people will call for tickets, Tickets maangege (ask for tickets), tickets - tickets - tickets," Pratima captioned the picture. With Ishant being one of the few experienced Indian players who'll not be seen playing in the forthcoming ICC World Cup in May, the Delhi paceman will be eager to reaffirm his credentials with a fine showing for his new franchise in the upcoming IPL season.
  6. For a man who was busy honing his skills as a chess player before representing India at junior levels, Yuzvendra Chahal has undoubtedly come a long way to become one of the country's preferred spinners in limited-overs cricket. Making his debut in 2016, the leggie has managed to rise through the ranks in Indian cricket and forged a vital partnership with fellow spinner Kuldeep Yadav for his side. Continuing his fine form, the 23-year-old played a pivotal role in India's historic 4-1 win the five-match One-Day International (ODI) series in New Zealand. In the five games he played, Chahal bagged nine wickets - emerging as the joint leading wicket-taker alongside Mohammed Shami in the ODI series. But, apart from bamboozling the opposition batsmen, Chahal has carved his own niche with wit and pun. He has struck a chord with cricket fans through his very own 'Chahal TV' - a show that has now become a one-stop shop for fans to watch their favourite cricketers talk about the game. Instagram/@rohitsharma45 Though he has been seen poking fun at other cricketers on his chat show, Chahal was given a taste of his own medicine by none other than 'Hitman' Rohit Sharma. In one of his Instagram stories, the Indian opener shared a picture of the banner of Oriental Bank of Commerce that had Chahal on it. Taking a dig at his teammate, Rohit added the text 'GOAT' on the picture as a laugh riot ensued amongst cricket fans on Instagram. Meanwhile, both Rohit and Chahal will play a pivotal role in the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Australia at home. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has also announced a 15-member squad for the two T20Is which will be followed by five ODIs. Here's a look at India's squad: For T20I series: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant, Dinesh Karthik, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Vijay Shankar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Umesh Yadav, Sidharth Kaul, Mayank Markande. For 1st and 2nd ODI: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohamed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Vijay Shankar, Rishabh Pant, Siddharth Kaul, KL Rahul. For remaining 3 ODIs: Virat Kohli (c), Rohit Sharma (vc), Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (wk), Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Vijay Shankar, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant.
  7. When it comes to Twitter, sometimes people just can't seem to keep their hands off their phones (cough *Kapil Sharma*). And now, it seems like Riteish Deshmukh has caught the same virus. After a hilarious twitter banter with Ajay Devgn, Riteish has now diverted his attention towards Ranveer Singh and his quirky fashion sense, as the 'Total Dhamaal' actor took to Twitter to troll the 'Gully Boy' star. Ranveer's out of the box fashion sense has often proved to be a bait to lure memes, and Riteish didn't shy away from making one. He shared a picture from the sets of 'Dil Dhadakne Do' where Ranveer is dressed in subtle, neutral coloured shirt and pants. The image was captioned, “Ranveer Singh at a fancy dress competition. #ApnaTimeAyeega” .@RanveerOfficial at a Fancy Dress Competition #ApnaTimeAyeega pic.twitter.com/6MOgrDd3s0 — Riteish Deshmukh (@Riteishd) February 13, 2019 We're happy that finally, someone from the industry gathered the courage to take a dig at Ranveer's dressing sense, although he's been a favourite fodder for memesters for a very long time. 8. After serving a brief suspension over his objectionable comments on a popular chat show, Hardik Pandya has returned to the Indian team with better focus and more determination. Thriving in the role of an allrounder, the Baroda cricketer has adequately aided the Indian team during their recent tour of New Zealand. However, during the third and decisive third Twenty20 International (T20I) at the Seddon Park in Hamilton, the Indian cricketer was seen struggling with the ball. The right-arm seamer was clobbered all around the park, conceding 47 runs in his quota of four overs. He was India's second most expensive bowler after his brother Krunal (0-54) on the day. When it came to his batting, Pandya couldn't do much to rescue his team from a four-run loss. With his side in desperate need of some power-hitting, the 25-year-old was promoted up the order but couldn't make it count as he departed after a 11-ball 21. If his outing in the third T20I got him frustrated, Pandya further became the subject of criticism after a young Indian fan asked him an interesting question while cheering for the visitors in the stands during the second T20I at the Eden Park in Auckland. give this lady a Bharat Ratnaððð#INDvNZ pic.twitter.com/PQA8KtGNFB — Sunil- The cricketer (@1sInto2s) February 8, 2019 Dressed in India's iconic blue jersey, a young girl was seen holding a placard that read: "Pandya Aaj Karke Aaya Kya?" - a dig at Pandya's remarks during his appearance on 'Koffee With Karan'. 9. The past few weeks have been really joyous for the Indian cricket fans. While the men's team was seen romping their way to an emphatic ODI series win, the women's team, too, clinched a historic series triumph in the 50-over format against New Zealand. Both the Indian cricket teams were clinical in the ODIs, but the men's and women's brigade suffered defeats in the first T20I against the Kiwis. While the Rohit Sharma-led side lost the first match of the T20I series by 80 runs, Harmanpreet Kau & co were also seen going down against the Kiwis, losing the game by 23 runs. Trailing 0-1 in the three-match series, both the teams will be eager to shrug off their defeats and make a strong comeback in what has now become do-or-die encounters on 8th February. Twitter/@BCCI But, as the Indian fans await a strong return from the two Indian teams, they had something to cheer for and laugh at - thanks to 'Chahal TV'. The humorous show, hosted by Yuzvendra Chahal, has already struck a chord with fans for the candid interviews taken by the Indian spinner. But, on 7th February, the popularity of the show scaled new heights after Indian opener Smriti Mandhana became the first female cricketer to appear on 'Chahal TV'. Joking about taking inspiration from Chahal's batting, the Indian batswoman said: “I was so inspired after looking at your batting in the 4th ODI that I told myself that I need to develop my game. You are my batting inspiration". To which, Chahal was quick to reply: "She has chosen the perfect batsman to improve her batting". Apart from that, Mandhana, who recently became the no. 1 batswoman in ODI cricket, also revealed why she chose the no. 18 jersey like Virat Kohli. “I initially wanted the number 7 because that was my roll number in school. But that was not available. Then I was recommended taking the 18 number because it is also my birthday (18th July). I didn't know then that Virat bhayya has the same number. I have known for last two years,” she said.
  10. After overcoming his suspension in lieu of his objectionable comments on 'Koffee With Karan', Hardik Pandya has returned to the Indian cricket team with better focus and more determination. The Indian all-rounder claimed two crucial wickets on his return during the third One-Day International (ODI) against New Zealand, and then followed it up with six wickets and 65 runs in his next four international matches. In the first Twenty20 International (T20I) against New Zealand, Hardik stuttered with the ball, going for 51 runs in four overs - becoming the most expensive Indian bowler in the shortest format against the Kiwis. But, then, Hardik wasn't the only one who got whacked that day, pretty much, every bowler did. View this post on Instagram Some food and lots of laugh ð @mahi7781 @shubmangill @kedarjadhavofficial @krunalpandya_official A post shared by Hardik Pandya (@hardikpandya93) on Feb 5, 2019 at 6:31pm PST Following India's comprehensive defeat at the Westpac stadium, Hardik was seen chilling out with his teammates in a much-needed break. The Baroda cricketer shared a photo of himself alongside his brother Krunal, MS Dhoni, Shubman Gill and Kedar Jadhav. "Some food and lots of laugh ?? @mahi7781 @shubmangill @kedarjadhavofficial @krunalpandya_official," Hardik captioned the picture on Instagram. But, the social media trolls were quick to take a dig at the Indian cricketer and reminded him of his nightmarish episode on 'Koffee With Karan'. While some advised him to order 'coffee', others, once again, slammed him for his sexist remarks on the popular chat show. An Instagram user wrote: "Koffee Lelo Bhai", while another one posted: "Aaj main bina kare aaya". There was another comment: "You're disgusting wonder how people live with an obnoxious sh*t like you", which highlighted that people are still angry at the Indian cricketer. While Hardik might take a while to strike a chord with fans again, he will be required to pull up his socks when India takes on New Zealand in the second T20I - a must-win clash for the visitors to stay alive in the three-match series - at Eden Park in Auckland on 8th February.
  11. In today's day and age, imagine living a social media nightmare! How absolutely callous do you have to be, right? Well, seems like callousness got the better of 'Baaghi 2' beauty, Disha Patani, who posted a big blunder on her Instagram, unknowingly. © Twitter The actress, who's also known as a social media influencer, posted a promotional video for a mobile phone on her Instagram page. The video was like how all promotional videos are supposed to be- well thought out, where she learns about the good camera quality the phone has and takes pictures of herself while she's in various yoga poses. Unfortunately though, while posting the video on her page, she copy-pasted the wrong text as caption and didn't realise it until she was trolled and ridiculed by her followers for it. © Instagram disha patani is an advertising agency nightmare pic.twitter.com/mlu6gkhure — n (@themdavesaves) 22 January 2019 The wrongly put caption read: “Hey - final video is here. Obviously her 17 million followers were appalled at her foolishness or were convinced she's an 'advertising agency nightmare'. © Instagram A lot of other followers left no stone unturned and made it a point to comment on her absentmindedness. 12. For a club that has won a record 20 Premier League titles in its rich history, Manchester United have struggled to emulate the success of their predecessors in recent years. Ever since legendary Sir Alex Ferguson parted ways from the Old Trafford, the Red Devils have consistently struggled at the helm of ever-changing managers. Thus, earlier this season, when Jose Mourinho got sacked as United's manager, the news didn't really surprise anyone owing to the disappointing run the Manchester club had to endure under the tutelage of the Portuguese. But, things have looked better for the United fans since club legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over as interim coach. © Reuters A team that was earlier struggling to score goals, let alone produce convincing wins, United are not only witnessing a goals galore, but they are currently unbeaten in their last five Premier League games. But, what really made their turnaround noticeable was arguably the resilient 1-0 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in their last game. While Marcus Rashford scored the lone goal in the much-anticipated clash, it was David de Gea who attracted major plaudits for his insane shot-stopping abilities against the Spurs. The Spaniard made some extraordinary saves in the final 45 minutes of the game to leave fans and players spellbound with his impeccable goal guarding prowess. Living in the NOW! ð — Kevin Pietersenð¦ (@KP24) January 14, 2019 Responding to Yuvi, KP could only come up with: "living in the NOW!". While United are currently lying at the sixth spot with 41 points against City's 53 (at the second spot), the fact that Solskjaer has turned the tide at Old Trafford while becoming the first-ever manager at the club to win his first six games, surely adds to the promise of better things to come for the Red Devils.
  13. Ever since trading his Tottenham Hotspur's whites for Manchester City's blue jersey, Kyle Walker has become a vital cog in Pep Guardiola's world class outfit. Proving his mettle in the flexible right-back position, the England footballer has improved as a player and already boasts of a Premier League title, won through City's historic run last season. Continuing his fine form, the 28-year-old was among the scorers who recently annihilated Burton Albion in City's merciless 9-0 thrashing in the Carabao Cup. While City's rampant scoreline, in itself, garnered a lot of attention, Walker, too, grabbed the spotlight for his antics after the game. © Reuters Elated with his goal and performance of his teammates, the England international produced a tongue-in-cheek moment with a hilarious, but useless, post on Instagram. Sharing a picture of his goal against Burton, Walker claimed that he was better than Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on the basis of some light-hearted stats. The City star captioned the picture, "Goals in 2019: Walker - 1, Ronaldo - 0, Goals in Carabao Cup: Walker - 1, Messi - O, end of discussion?". In what seems to be nothing more than a joke, Walker claimed that since he has scored more goals than Ronaldo (nine days into 2019) and more goals than Messi in the Carabao Cup (a competition that the Argentine can't play in), he has reached a conclusion on who is the best player in the world. View this post on Instagram Goals in 2019: Walker: 1 Ronaldo: 0 Goals in Carabao Cup: Walker: 1 Messi: 0 End of discussion? A post shared by Kyle Walker (@kylewalker2) on Jan 9, 2019 at 2:09pm PST Walker was trying to capitalise on the long-running argument among football fans who've been divided over the years on 'who is the best player in the world - Messi or Ronaldo?'. Both the mega stars have won the Ballon d'Or a record five times. But, their dominance at the prestigious honour was finally broken by Real Madrid's Luka Modric who became the first player, other than Ronaldo and Messi, since 2007 to win the Ballon d'Or. Following his far-fetched comments, Walker will now be hoping to walk the talk when City return to Premier League action when they host resilient Wolves - a side that has held the defending champions to a 1-1 draw earlier this season. In terms of the title race, after losing some ground with back-to-back defeats, City produced a prolific performance to beat arch-rivals Liverpool that allowed them close the gap at the top to four points now.
  14. Ever since his arrival at Stamford Bridge, Alvaro Morata has, by far, failed to replicate his success in the Chelsea shirt. Scoring just 24 goals in 72 appearances for the Blues, Morata has struggled to get going in the English conditions. And, if reports are to be believed, the Spaniard may well be on his way out this month's transfer window, joining AC Milan in a swap deal for Gonzalo Higuain. But, during Chelsea's FA Cup third-round clash against Nottingham Forest, the 26-year-old silenced his detractors with two crucial goals that paved way for his side's comfortable 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea forward put his side in the front with an easy finish in the 49th minute before doubling their lead in the 59th minute, capitalising on another delicious cross from Callum Hudson-Odoi, with another goal. For a man who has attracted a lot of criticism for his inconsistent form, Morata fared pretty well in front of the home crowd, getting his name on the scoresheet, not once, but twice to help his side march forward in the FA Cup. But, despite his goals, misfortunes doesn't seem to leave the Spaniard alone. General reminder that Morata somehow cost real human money. pic.twitter.com/Jxgk7XylOT — Dylan Walsh (@dylanwalsh_) 5 January 2019 Though his goals did entice the Stamford Bridge, Morata's howler during the match made him the butt of all jokes on the social media. The football fans were rather unforgiving towards the Spanish footballer after he made an absolute mess of a clear chance at an open goal from 3 yards out. Thankfully for Morata, he was ruled off-side, but the fans just couldn't digest that a professional player could miss from such a position and distance. 15. At the time when India's schedule for their Australian tour was announced, everyone in the cricket fraternity knew that it was going to a great contest. And, why not? India were going to lock horns with the Aussies in three T20Is, as many ODIs and four Test matches. While the limited-overs series offered some slam-bang action, all eyes were undoubtedly glued to the much-anticipated duels in Tests. And, after two Tests and with the third one currently in progress, the fact that India and Australia are tied 1-1 goes on show how evenly this series is poised. We've already witnessed batting geniuses of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli who are currently leading the list of top run-getters in the series and the spin wizardry of Nathan Lyon who is miles ahead in the race of leading wicket-takers. But, apart from some exciting cricket on offer, the four-match Test series has also witnessed some of the most hilarious quips from both the sides. If Rishabh Pant's quirky comments from behind the stumps left everyone in splits, Tim Paine's recent remarks from the same position has once again brought a smile on the faces of cricket fans across the globe. © AP Though Australian cricketers have been infamous for using verbal volleys to unsettle the opposition batsmen, the ongoing series has witnessed an altogether different approach from the home side. Struck with the ball-tampering scandal recently, while the Aussies seem to have minimised their aggression, they have traded explosive comments for quirky jibes - something that reflected in Paine's latest comments. During the second day's play at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Paine was caught on the stump-mic trying to sledge Rohit Sharma. While the Indian batsman was taking guard for the next delivery, the Australian skipper was heard telling his mate at short-leg that it was 'a toss-up between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians at this time'. "He has this nice easy swing of the bat. We see him do it all the time for MI. If Rohit hits a six here, I'm changing to Mumbai Indians," Paine was heard saying on the stump-mic before the fielders around him burst into laughter. Did Finchie (Aaron Finch) get you out. To be honest, the hardest two overs I played in domestic cricket last season were from him." While we aren't sure if Paine's remarks unsettled Rohit or not, but the Australian captain got no help from his teammate Peter Siddle who came on as a substitute fielder only to drop the Mumbai batsman on 16 at short fine leg in the 147th over. On the other hand, the cricket fans couldn't stop themselves from expressing their views on Paine's hilarious remarks. 16. It's the 21st century and the year is 2018. Then why is it that even in this year and time, the subject of menstruation and bleeding women continues to be a hot topic, that even at the mention of it the entire nation gets scandalised, and constantly wishes to sweep it under the carpet? We recently had the Supreme Court deliver yet another landmark verdict annulling an ancient law that banned women aged 13 to 50 from entering Kerala's renowned Sabarimala Temple, since they fall in the menstruating age group. The verdict came after a lot of hue and cry across the nation, demanding equal rights to pray for all women, at every place of worship. So one would expect this to make women hopeful about a better experience this Durga Puja too, because all the awareness around the subject would have initiated some change in people's outlook, right? Wrong. Time for a reality check, you guys. © Facebook A Mumbai-based graphic designer named Aniket Mitra would have felt similarly when he recently posted a Durga illustration on his social media accounts, inspired by menstruation and how women are given partial treatment during religious festivities and celebrations, because they are on their periods and are thus, “impure”. He was up for a major disappointment- one that would not only shatter his spirit, but also deface the kind thought behind the creation. You see, women are equally foolish to expect any support or progressive standing from a society, that consciously chooses to turn a blind eye to every issue that concerns the welfare of its women and children. The Indian society has failed its women before, and even with a lot of men coming forward to usher in the winds of change, a section of this society keeps trying to bring them down, and scare them into subjugation, as they did to Aniket Mitra, lest the women of this country get their fair share of basic human rights. © Facebook Wait, before you begin to spew venom over how “feminism is cancer” and #NotAllMen, I must tell you that I pity the likes of all of you, because you are adding to all the BS that many women(and some good men) of this world are fighting against, day in and day out. Why, you ask? Well, this is why. Soon after Aniket made his creation public, the illustration caught people's attention and the entire country came together to bash the artist for his realist artwork, calling it disgraceful, “anti-national” and what not. And it did not stop right there. No. The online trolls went a step ahead and began to insult and threaten Mitra's wife and brother with hopes of scaring the guy into taking down the image. Guess what, they won. The endless trolls and reports got Facebook to take down the post titled, 'Shakti Rupen'. A police complaint has also been filed against Aniket. Now, let me tell you in detail about the depiction that offended so many dimwits of our “progressive” nation. The illustration displayed a sanitary napkin as a Durga protima, with a Chalchitro in the background, and a red smear on the napkin which looks like a lotus. Now, God forbid if even half of those guys who scared the sh*t out of Aniket were to be religious. It's probably the possibility of another man standing up for the women, that enraged the public so much. As News18 quoted Aniket saying, “I have watched first my sisters and now my wife struggle with taboos regarding their periods. I have seen them be asked to not come to certain places because they are menstruating. As someone living in 2018, this infuriates me", the thought had been kind, positive and personal, but the trolls turned things another way. When we reached out to Aniket for a statement, he responded saying that the constant flak and personal attacks that he and his family have received over the past few days, has forced him to not only take down the post, but also refrain from sharing any comments on the same to prevent further outrage. Imagine what we are capable of doing to each other, when someone decides to stand up for the larger good for people in our society. You shame them and threaten them into silence. But I suppose it needs to be put across that not all of us are going to be silenced. We'll find a way to make the message reach to a lot of people, so they can decide for themselves and reach a conclusion independently. Free country guys, everybody needs to get heard and we'll make sure that happens here, and the culprits are called out.

  18. Owing to the cross-border tensions and the prolonged issue of Kashmir, India and Pakistan have successfully managed to become arch-rivals over the years. But, their rivalry isn't restricted to the border lines, in fact, it seems to have transcended across sports as well. And, cricket is probably the one that is much anticipated than the rest. As soon as the lucrative draw of an India vs Pakistan match is announced, the tickets sell like hot-cakes and the excitement amongst fans soars to an all-time high. If this is the case before the clash, you can probably anticipate what happens when the two teams take the field. It might seem like just another cricket match to many others, but for the citizens of India and Pakistan, it is nothing less than war (barring weapons of course). Thus, when the date of India's group-stage clash against Pakistan in the 2018 Asia Cup came close, cricket fanatics across the globe once again braced themselves for yet another thrilling contest. But, while many prepared themselves in advance for the 'mother of all battles', Indian tennis sensation Sania Mirza gave some words of wisdom to the over-enthusiastic fans. Soo less than 24hrs to go for this match, safe to sign out of social media for a few days since the amount of nonsense thts gonna b said here can make a 'regular' person sick ,let alone a pregnant oneðLater guys!Knock yourselves out!BUT remember-ITS ONLY A CRICKET MATCH! Toodles! — Sania Mirza (@MirzaSania) September 18, 2018 Married to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, Sania took to Twitter and urged fans to keep their emotions in check and treat the Indo-Pak clash as a cricket match and nothing more. "Soo less than 24hrs to go for this match, safe to sign out of social media for a few days since the amount of nonsense thts gonna b said here can make a 'regular' person sick, let alone a pregnant one. Later guys! Knock yourselves out!BUT remember- ITS ONLY A CRICKET MATCH! Toodles!," she tweeted. India will be locking horns with Pakistan after a span of 15 months since their debacle in the 2017 Champions Trophy final. The Sarfraz Ahmed-led side broke a billion hearts after defeating the tournament favourites by a huge margin of 180 runs. Led by Rohit Sharma, the Indian team will be eager to avenge their heartbreaking loss when they take the field in the Asia Cup group-stage game today. With Virat Kohli missing from the line-up, India will surely have their task cut out against Pakistan, who have emerged as one of the best-rounded limited-overs side in international cricket lately. The likes of Mohammad Amir and Hasan Ali will always be a threat with the new ball, which is probably why the Indian batsmen will need to be at their prolific best if they intend to bury their demons from the Champions Trophy 2017 final.
  19. We've all experienced the high of visiting new places, exploring the famous sites in the area and being our touristy best by getting clicked at all the famous places and emulating the famous poses to capture the moment and preserve those memories for life. © Wikimedia Commons Be it the classic Taj Mahal pose we're all guilty of having copied at some point in our lives or the Titanic pose we feel too tempted to recreate whenever we are standing at a height. © Pixabay We have all been there and we know all the guffaws that the pictures will invoke for one, being too cliched as they are and two, because we gave in to the ultimate temptation even if it was just for the sake of creating happy memories.
