  1. Richard Branson may have been the first Billionaire in space, but it didn’t really impress the world-renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. In fact, he expressed his doubts on the whole matter and raised the question of whether Branson really flew to space. © Virgin Galactic Tyson, who is the director of the Hayden Planetarium, said in an interview with CNN that Richard Branson didn’t really go to space. “First of all, it was suborbital. NASA did it 60 years ago with Alan Shepard, took off from Cape Canaveral and landed in the ocean. If you don't go fast enough to reach orbit you will fall and return to Earth,” he said. He further questioned the test flight by asking “So, did you get high enough? Did you go into orbit? Did you actually go anywhere? Did you go to the Moon, to Mars or beyond?” DeGrasse further added, “It's okay if you want to call it 'space' because average humans haven't gotten there before and it's a first for you. That's why it takes eight minutes to get into orbit and three days to reach the moon. That is actually space travel. So I don't see it as 'oh, let's go into space'. No. What you are going to have is a nice view of the Earth.” He explained that the orbit of the International Space Station and that of a spacecraft would be 1cm from the scale model while the moon would be more than 10 meters away. He said that the border that Richard Branson reached is less than 2 millimetres from the surface. © Hayden Planetarium “I don't even know if you are going to see the curvature. I did some calculations and I think not. If you are 2 millimetres from the surface of this globe, you don't have the full perspective. It is a visual effect that you get from 50 miles up (nearly 80 km). So have fun," said deGrasse Tyson. © Hayden Planetarium Tyson believes that Musk’s SpaceX orbit project has more merit and has a higher chance of going beyond suborbital flight. “The concept of SpaceX is 'we want to send people to places', it is an effort to push that limit, that frontier of exploring space," he said. Richard Branson went into space in his Virgin Galactic Unity 22 vehicle along with five other crew members. They reached an altitude of 55 miles (86 kilometres) over the New Mexico desert and then landed on a runway while gliding. Branson beat Jeff Bezos to become the first person to travel in his own spaceship by nine days. View the full article

  3. No matter what side of the fence do you sit on this one, you can’t deny that psychedelics and hallucinogenics have their uses. © Reuters Mike Tyson became the latest person to attest to this, saying that “psychedelics can change the world.” Tyson recently revealed that during his bout with depression, he depended on psilocybin, a chemical that is found in magic mushrooms. © iStock Old-school fans of boxing and Tyson would know that during the late 80s & early 90s, he went through one of the darkest phases of his life, with problems inside the ring, in his personal life, and also some unfortunate run-ins with the law. Tyson had claimed that this led to a point in his life when he started contemplating suicide. © Reuters Tyson claims that he survived this phase and was able to make a resounding comeback all thanks to psilocybin and magic mushrooms. “It's amazing medicine, and people don't look at it from that perspective,” he said. © Instagram/miketyson To that effect, he partnered with a life science company by the name Wesana and aims to propagate the benefits of psilocybin to the world, and lobby for the US state governments to legalise & regulate them. Psilocybin has actually been used as an experimental treatment for treating people with brain damage, depression, acute anxiety and a number of mental disorders. However, doctors strongly suggest against self-medicating Psilocybin & magic mushrooms. © Reuters Doctors maintain that given how most hallucinogenics and psychedelics have a habit-forming tendency, it should only be taken under the supervision of a licensed medical practitioner. “If you put 10 people in a room that don't like each other and give them some psychedelics, they'll be taking pictures with each other,” said Tyson. "Put 10 people in a room who don't like each other and give them some liquor, and they'll be shooting everybody,” he added. © Reuters This is the second “special project” that Tyson has taken up in recent years. Back in 2018, he opened up his own cannabis farm, and a resort based around cannabis called the Tyson Ranch. © Reuters Meanwhile, people on Twitter took this news to share their experiences with Magic Mushrooms, and of course, cracked a whole lot of jokes. Bless You Mike Tyson. I suffer from head injuries and feel that I will be helped by this medication if was able to take it. You speak the truth. — Dr. Logic UBOK (@Drsimmons22) May 29, 2021Imagine the possibilities of world leaders gathering together, with minds opened by psilocybin, and discussing their difference of opinions. Millions of innocent lives would be saved. — Blue Beam 🇵🇸 🥀 (@TheClubFootClub) May 29, 2021Mushrooms with Mario and ljegy — Abdulhafeez Lawal Ibrahim (@AbdulhafeezLaw3) May 28, 2021I’ve listened to many of his interviews and he is hands down one of the realest people out there. A Living legend — MollyGumptionoftheShotBag (@dannielle1212) May 29, 2021yeah, i'd start talking to pidgeons too if I could afford that much psilo — Ol' Simpkin (@inevitablybored) May 29, 2021Omg i ate an 1/8 of an oz of mushrooms so everything might be melting but I'm watching season one of @MidnightGospel so thank you @TitmouseInc and realized @MikeTyson and @duncantrussell need to sit down and do a #shroomcast. A podcast on magic mushrooms while on magic mushrooms. — Saxon: Prophet of the Turtle God (@peacelovesaxon) May 30, 2021Say what you will about the man, Tyson does know how to connect with people. It is actually quite interesting to see a sporting legend, one of boxing’s greatest ever, openly stating that they support psilocybin consumption. Not many public figures have the gumption for that. 8. We all know of the lavish lifestyle lived by one of the most famed boxers ever, Mike Tyson. It's definitely a lot different than what it used to be in his boxing heydays. In 2016, Tyson set up his own company called Tyson Holistic Holdings, which sells all types of cannabis-based products and merchandise. But now, the retired heavyweight champion is focusing all his efforts on a new project, which is a 407-acre marijuana holiday resort in Southern California. © Pintrest The resort will definitely be home to a lot of attractions like a huge lazy river, and the 'Kind Music Festival', which Tyson and his partner Rob Hickman describe as 'the Lollapalooza Cannabis'. Although Tyson's ranch isn't completely built yet, the festival took place on February 2019 and did magnificently well. The festival gave people a chance to listen to some good live music, smoke some marijuana and learn about the health benefits of cannabis. The ranch, whose construction is underway, aims at accommodating the growing cannabis tourism industry with a hotel and 200 'glamping' units. © Tyson Ranch "I thought about how much good I could do by helping people with cannabis. It was a no-brainer. I've been fighting for over 20 years, and my body has a lot of wear and tear. I had two surgeries and I used marijuana to calm my nerves, and it would take the pain away... But before, they had me on those opiates, and those opiates had me all screwed up." said Tyson in an interview with an international publication. Apart from the festival and hosting cannabis tourism, the resort will also focus on imparting knowledge on the health benefits of the drug and how it can be used for health purposes, to cure many ailments and diseases. "He's building a holistic centre for health and wellness. There will be testing in the university. It's going to be about educating people on the healing benefits, how to grow, and how to be in proper business." said Tyson's business partner, Rob Hickman in an interview with an international publication. © Kind Music Festival While marijuana or pot is used a lot recreationally, it has a lot of health benefits which we aren't aware of. Mostly, people, and by people I mean authorities, think it's used to get 'high' but medical marijuana has been used a lot in the past to cure a lot of physiological issues, sometimes even cancer. Hemp oils are extensively used in cancer research. But unfortunately, in India, which is one of the biggest exporters of Hashish, the use of this drug is banned all over, even medically. What Mike Tyson has established is a clean and healthy way to promote something that can be used recreationally and as a health benefit, without causing any harm to the user and we hope we can legalize the drug here, at least medically, so people can benefit from it from time to time.
  9. According to the former boxer history and record, Mike Tyson's head works in… let's just say, very unusual ways. The one to have owned three massive Bengal tigers (yes, one of them was showed in the first 'Hangover' movie) and a whole room full of exotic pigeons, Tyson is famous for his love for animals. View this post on Instagram Not many can say they raised a tiger. #vintagetyson A post shared by Mike Tyson (@miketyson) on Jan 7, 2019 at 4:47pm PST In this scenario, however, Tyson was squared up and ready to punch a giant silverback gorilla in the face! According to the British newspaper, 'The Sun', the 2011 International Boxing Hall of Fame inductee had booked the entire New York zoo for a private tour for his then wife Robin Givens and himself in the late 1980's as a date. Their 'us' time was however interrupted by a big silverback gorilla who was bullying all the other monkeys present in and around the alpha ape's cage. “When we got to the gorilla cage there was one big silverback gorilla there just bullying all the other gorillas. They were so powerful but their eyes were like an innocent infant,” Tyson told The Sun. “I offered the attendant $10,000 (Rs. 7.1 lakh approx.) to open the cage and let (me) smash that silverback's snotbox! He declined.” Rest assured that no animals were punched that day as the zookeeper refused to take Tyson's money or let him get inside the cage with the beast. The 52-year-old is one of the iconic figures of boxing and was one of the pioneers of American boxing that made the sport so famous in the 80s. Having won back-to-back golds at the 1981 and 1982 Junior Olympics, Tyson won his first big fight against Trevor Berbick in 1986 for his first World Boxing Council (WBC) title. View this post on Instagram You can't buy a champion. It's earned with blood sweat and tears. #youngestheavyweightchampion #vintagetyson A post shared by Mike Tyson (@miketyson) on Dec 3, 2018 at 7:01am PST Tyson now owns a lavish villa in Las Vegas and a 40-acre cannabis ranch California, where he is rumoured to host a cannabis-friendly festival this week.
  10. It's happening! A biopic is being made on Mike Tyson and ‘Django Unchained' actor Jamie Foxx will play the role of legendary and controversial boxer, Iron Mike Tyson who ruled the boxing ring as the undisputed world heavyweight champ for 20 f**king years (1985-2005), has won 50 out 58 fights in his career. The news was apparently confirmed by Tyson himself, “It's on, as of right now. Jamie Foxx has signed on for it. Filming hasn't started yet but it's going to happen.” In fact, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street' director Martin Scorsese too is said to be associated with the film, although nothing is confirmed as of now. © Reuters While talking about the biopic, Tyson was quoted as saying that some people might find it ‘uncomfortable', “A lot of people aren't going to like the things I've done in my life.” Jamie has already started preparing for this big role. According to a report published in The Sun, a source said “Jamie went to a couple of sessions with his trailer in the gym for this movie.” It was further added, “He looked quite good throwing a few jabs and crosses against the pads. But when he tried a bit of sparring, he didn't fare so well.” Well, Jamie will have to work real hard to toughen up for the role, after all playing the legendary boxer Tyson is not a piece of cake. © Reuters Tyson who is called ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet' has many credits to his name, but has dealt with a fair share of controversies in his life as well. The man who holds the record of being the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title at the age of 20, was convicted of rape in 1992 and sentenced to six years in prison. The whole world knows about Tyson's badassery, especially after he bit his opponent Evander Holyfield's ear. Although we don't know if all of this will be shown in the movie, but it will be interesting to see how his biopic turns out to be and the characteristics that Jamie brings with him on board.
  11. In November of 1986, on a particularly windy day – the 22nd of the month to be precise, a considerable crowd gathered in the ballroom of the Las Vegas Hilton hotel in anticipation of a young, burly fighter. And as the crowd began to cede to make way for Michael Gerard Tyson, many were amazed by the aura of the guy people believed was the next big thing in professional boxing. This was not just an ordinary fight. Mike Tyson was about to decimate Trevor Berbick – the guy who ended Mohammed Ali’s career, with his savage moves inside the ring. The fight, as many romantics of the sport would remember, lasted just 335 seconds and marked the beginning of the legend of ‘Iron Mike’ Tyson as we know it today. © Reuters What motivated Tyson throughout his life was not the charm and love for the sport of boxing. In many ways it was the angst of his formative years in a New York crack house and the brutality inflicted upon him in a juvenile institution which was seen in his jabs and punches. He came from a background where fighting back was no longer a choice, it was a necessity. And this, in turn, helped shape his ferocious style of fighting. Mike Tyson’s career and maybe his life too, was the product of one man’s determination to make a champion out of him. Cus D’Amato paroled Tyson from juvenile detention at the age of 14 and saw only one way to turn that angst and energy into something meaningful. He was his trainer, his guardian and his friend, and Tyson could always turn to him for advice, whether it was his game or his tumultuous life. That supportive figure in Tyson’s life was the only bright light which he looked up to. That is why, when he finished Berbick in under two rounds, the first thing he said to Jim Jacobs, his co-manager were “Would Cus have liked that?” © Reuters But this is not where he stopped; Mike Tyson intimidated Michael Spinks and finished him in just one minute and 31 seconds to become the poster boy for the sport. He had everything at the time – money, fame and all the good things life offered if Tyson could just keep the focus and not get distracted by the intensity of the occasion. And this is when he gave it all up. The boxing arena was shocked when the news of Tyson being allegedly involved in rape case broke. Consequentially, he was booked and found guilty by the jury in the case involving the then 18-year-old beauty pageant contestant, Desiree Washington. He served three of his prime years in prison and by the time he came out he had already descended into the violent world of drugs, guns and gang lords. This was also the time when he fired his long time trainer Kevin Rooney. Rooney was one of the guys who knew Tyson’s game inside out. He would prep him for the worst and kept the peek-a-boo strategy in check as taught to Tyson by Cus. Rooney, in all probability, was the one man Tyson should have never parted ways with, and he did. What followed was a dip in performance because even though Don King was competent to keep Tyson inspired, he just couldn’t get the champion to strive for more and that made his game redundant. © Reuters Living from paycheck to paycheck, Tyson was addicted to a lavish lifestyle and just couldn’t stop burning his dollars on drugs and women. In the year 2000 alone, Tyson spent $62 million dollars and went through his $300 million dollar fortune by 2003. He declared bankruptcy that year with an approximate debt of $23 million. Right now, that fearless, vicious boxer just makes a living through his acting career and a TV show titled “Mike Tyson Mysteries”. He takes care of his two children from his third wife Kiki. His also has 5 other kids, three who have graduated from NYU, American University and Drexel University. And that in a sense sums up the amazing life of Mike Tyson. He was a fighter in and out of the ring. The problem was that his worst opponent has always been himself.
