  6. Whether you love or hate her, the one thing that you cannot do is ignore her. Irrespective of what your views of Kangana Ranaut are, you have to appreciate the fact that she often speaks with no filter, something that takes courage, and the fact that she speaks her mind. © Instagram/kanganaranaut Just a few days ago, Kangana made headlines when she called out Sanjay Leela Bhansali for ‘miscasting’ Alia Bhatt in Gangubai Kathiawadi. She went on to call Alia, a romantic bimbo, ‘papa ki pari’ and whatnot, and also said that about Rs 200 Crores would go to waste as ‘Gangubai’ would burn to ashes. © Instagram/kanganaranaut Alia, on the other hand, dealt with these comments with poise and in a dignified manner. © Instagram/aliaabhatt Well, it seems that for a change, Kangana Ranaut is actually impressed with what the ‘movie mafia’ has managed to achieve. Gangubai Kathiawadi has managed to get a lot of footfalls into theatres and is slowly breathing a new lease of life into the industry. Even though Alia Bhatt’s Gangubai Kathiawadi does not come close to the box office opening of Pawan Kalyan’s Bheemla Nayak, the film did have a pretty good opening day collection, of over Rs 11 Crores. © Instagram/aliaabhatt Taking note of this fact, Kangana took to Instagram to share a cryptic post, which, although does not name Alia or her film, does seem to appreciate the fact that finally, a Bollywood film is seeing some good business at the box office. In her post, Kangana wrote, “Happy to hear theatres are being revived in the South film industry with record-breaking collections. I hear some baby steps are being taken in the Hindi belt also. With recent female-centric film which has a big hero and a superstar director.” © Instagram/kanganaranaut She continued “They may be baby steps but they are not insignificant. They will be crucial for theatres that are on ventilators here. Never expected that the movie mafia will rise to the occasion and do something good. If they do we will be absolutely appreciative. Hoping for the best.” Well, it does show that Kangana realises how important it is for all films to do good business at the box office, especially now, that theatres and multiplexes are finally opening up after a gap of about two and a half years. © Instagram/kanganaranaut Workwise, Kangana is set for two major releases in 2022 - Dhaakad and Tejas. She will also be seen hosting an upcoming reality show called Lock Upp, which will begin streaming on MX Player and Alt Balaji from February 27. View the full article
  7. India suffered their first-ever loss in a Test match at the Wanderers on Thursday as South Africa made light work of the 240-run target set by the visitors. As the hosts levelled the three-match series, the cricketing fraternity started pointing fingers at the loopholes in the Indian batting. One name that was heavily criticised for being lacklustre in his approach was Rishabh Pant. The young wicket-keeper has failed to make his presence felt in the ongoing tour of South Africa and the way he got out for a duck in the second innings of the 2nd Test did not go well with many cricket experts. It's Kagiso Rabada again Rishabh Pant makes the long walk back for a duck! Watch #SAvIND live on https://t.co/CPDKNxoJ9v (in select regions) #WTC23 | https://t.co/WrcdXdQlUm pic.twitter.com/0dAn6LsYOW — ICC (@ICC) January 5, 2022 Legendary India batter Sunil Gavaskar was one of the cricket pundits who minced no words while expressing his disapproval of the attitude shown by Pant in the lost Test match. Gavaskar had said that the way Pant went about his business, it is not the way one should play and added that Rahul Dravid must have given him an earful in the change room after he walked back to the pavilion, playing an unnecessary shot. "That is not the way to play and I am pretty certain that in the change room, Rahul Dravid would have given him a hearing, or as they say in cricket, Dravid must have given him a 'bamboo'," Gavaskar had said. View this post on Instagram The legendary cricketer, who was furious at Pant, seems to have taken a cue from politicians who are known to eat their own words as he made a complete u-turn on his criticism of Pant and said that his dismissal alone was not the only reason behind India's loss in Johannesburg. Gavaskar mentioned that while Pant's dismissal was not pretty to watch, to say that the team lost because of that dismissal is not right. He asserted that India should have scored more runs, especially in the first innings after getting off to a good start. Good Feeling pic.twitter.com/fhrAEYsV6H — Rishabh Pant (@RishabhPant17) January 19, 2021 “Whatever you might say about that particular shot, it was not pretty to watch for sure, but it was not the reason that India lost. India should have scored more runs, batting first they had a pretty decent start but they weren't able to capitalise on it and get to 280-300,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports' post-match show. This sudden change of perception of Pant by Gavaskar makes us wonder that the legendary cricketer would've managed to play a successful knock even in the field of politics. Pant has had a dismal run with the bat but he has proved in his short career so far that when he gets going, he can turn the match around in a flash. Indian fans will be hoping that Pant comes good in the series decider in Cape Town as the visitors continue their search for a maiden Test series win in the Rainbow Nation. View the full article

  9. Three days… it took Michael Vaughan just three days to take a complete u-turn on his criticism against the Indian cricket team after the Men in Blue obliterated Aaron Finch’s Australian side in the warm-up match ahead of their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign. Earlier this week, the former England skipper had expressed his surprise about how the Indian cricket team was being considered a favourite to win the tournament. Vaughan said that the Virat Kohli-led side had struggled to make a name for themselves in the shortest format of the game and that they would face threat at the hands of Pakistan and the West Indies. "I don't know how India get the 'Favourites' tag in T20 Cricket." - Michael Vaughan (To BBC Test match special) — CricketMAN2 (@man4_cricket) October 20, 2021 “England for me are the favourites. I don’t know how India get the 'favourites' tag in T20 cricket. I just think they’ve been a long way off in the last few tournaments,” Vaughan said in the BBC Test Match Special podcast. “West Indies and Pakistan will be threats. I wouldn’t write off Pakistan either. New Zealand have high-class players and you know they will come up with strategies to win games,” said the former cricketer. View this post on Instagram However, after watching Team India win the first warm-up match against England by 7 wickets, and the second warm-up match against Australia by 8 wickets, the critic has taken his words back. In fact, Vaughan now feels that India may be the favourites to win it all by the time the World Cup approaches its end. The way India are playing the warm up games suggests they may be now Hot favourites to Win the #T20WorldCup !!! — Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) October 20, 2021 Confused and annoyed by the sudden and drastic change in Vaughan’s approach towards the Men in Blue, the fans of the Indian cricket team started wondering what was going on in the Englishman’s head: Iska alag hi hai, ek din bolta hai warm-up games are irrelevant & agle din India are favourites now. pic.twitter.com/LgnwG92Tqs — Rahul Sharma (@CricFnatic) October 20, 2021We all know this is an attempt to jinx India — TheSportsRaven (@redraven_tweets) October 20, 2021Warm up games are irrelevant bro pic.twitter.com/Guh6us5JtS — Priscilla (@CricCrazyPrisci) October 20, 2021Now your tweet will be meaningless pic.twitter.com/vzsJ1RY4Av — Nadim Ahmed khan (@NadimAhmedkhan9) October 20, 2021Should've tried to jinx your cricket career, you may actually have been a great player — Dev. (@Mohali_Monster) October 20, 2021The warm-up match against Australia was nothing short of a bag of very mixed emotions as the fans who to see some rather unique occurrences during it. While Rohit Sharma captained the side and decided to retire himself after scoring 60 runs off 41 deliveries, Virat Kohli took over the duties as a bowler and ended up delivering two highly efficient overs giving away just 12 runs in total. Virat Kohli bowling to Steve Smith is once in a lifetime moment btw for cricket fans. pic.twitter.com/khvB3hDoqM — Ammar (@ammar__one18) October 20, 2021 India will be playing their first match of the T20 World Cup 2021 on October 24, (Sunday) against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium. 10. Kangana Ranaut, a month back, was tested positive for Coronavirus but landed in a controversy when she called Covid-19 ‘a small flu which got too much press’ and wrote that she will demolish it. Kangana Ranaut wrote, “I was feeling tired and weak with a slight burning sensation in my eyes for the past few days, was hoping to go to Himachal so got my test done yesterday and today the result came. I am covid positive.” She further added, “I have quarantined myself, I had no idea this virus is having a party in my body, now that I know I will demolish it, people please don’t give anything any power over you, if you are scared it will scare you more, come let’s destroy this Covid -19 it is nothing but small-time flu which got too much press and now psyching few people. Har Har Mahadev (sic).” The actor seems to have understood that COVID is no ordinary flu and has taken a U-Turn and in her recent video that the virus can give people false indications of recovery. Sharing her experiences, she said, “I am here to talk about my experience of recovering from coronavirus. Covid-19 is like ‘sardi-zukaam’ – (common cold) as I had told you all earlier, that has been my experience, but while fighting and recovering from Covid, many shocking things happened to me, something I’ve never experienced before. I have always seen that when you are ill, once you start recovering, it is a perpetual journey forward. But, in the case of coronavirus, it is a fake sense of recovery.” View this post on Instagram She added, “Only after a day or two of testing negative for corona, I felt I could do everything, like working out and shooting with colleagues and talking to friends, as I could do earlier. But when I stepped out to do those things, I started feeling like there was a relapse, I was not really well. I was again bed-ridden, and at one point, I felt like I couldn’t get out of bed. My throat was bad again and I felt feverish again too.” The Manikarnika actor added, “This virus is quite unpredictable, as it attacks our body we don’t know how our body reacts as it is a genetically modified virus, and mutes our natural body response. Many people are even losing their lives because of it. Hence it is very important to have a full recovery. While fighting the virus I’ve spoken to many doctors and I have realized that one should not underestimate resting during the recovery period. So continue resting and getting better.” After she posted the video, people started to troll her and reminded her that she was one to make such a statement earlier. © Instagram/Kangana Ranaut © Instagram/Kangana Ranaut © Instagram/Kangana Ranaut Well, we wonder how she would react to this hate from the public. 13. Ajinkya Rahane and the Indian cricket team proved how winning one match can lead to a complete shift in a critic’s way of thinking towards the squad. Former Pakistani cricketer turned YouTuber, Shoaib Akhtar is a prime example of the critics taking a complete ‘U-Turn’ on their analysis of the Men in Blue after the incredible win they secured at the Melbourne Cricket Ground against the hosting Australian side. Following the loss at the Adelaide Oval, Akhtar had not only exaggerated his reaction to India’s defeat but also mocked the ‘mighty India’ in one of his YouTube videos. “I couldn't catch the early part of the match so I thought India had scored 369 but when I rubbed my eyes and checked properly, it was 36/9. Mighty India, the batting mighty Team India! What has happened? Australia showed what they are capable of. India will have to face criticism,” said the former pacer. “This Test match will trigger a chain reaction and I am indicating at the captaincy. Virat Kohli will have to think. These things happen, innings fall but India is the number one team and to perform like this is embarrassing. This is not ludo," he added. Now that the Rahane led squad dominated the Aussies at the MCG and got the win of the fourth day of the match itself, Akhtar, without even acknowledging his criticism of the team merely a week ago, couldn’t stop complimenting them for ‘showing character’. “After getting all-out for 36, to return for a Test without Shami, Rohit and captain Virat, what will Team India do? Team India will show character. They have crushed Australia. This is Team India. Characters are not made in crisis, they are exhibited. It was amazing to see the courage they have shown," said Akhtar after the second Test. "Australia must be thinking what has just happened to them? This is very embarrassing for Australian after the win at Adelaide and now losing in such a manner. India which was down and out, to come back and show such courage. From now, the momentum is in India's hands. You will have to laud India's bench strength. They did not care who was absent from the XI," he added as this time the Australians had to face Akhtar’s ‘wrath’. View the full article
  14. After the disappointing loss to the Australians in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Adelaide Oval, the Men in Blue are figuring out their new Playing XI due to a list of factors, planned and unplanned. Virat Kohli’s paternity leave, Mohammed Shami’s fractured arm, Prithvi Shaw’s uncanny slump are a few pointers that can significantly change the on-field team for India from the previous match. Latest updates, Shami has been ruled out of the remainder of series due 2 wrist fracture n either of Saini or Siraj on their way 2 debut at boxing day test. #Rohit #AUSvIND #Kohli #viratkholi BCCI #RaviShastri Vihari pic.twitter.com/9UPi8ah6TC — Tejas Pujare (@tejas_pujare) December 19, 2020 Yet another pointer is Wriddhiman Saha and his struggle to stay on the pitch during the first and second innings of the Adelaide Test which could potentially take away his spot as a wicket-keeping batsman and have Rishabh Pant replace him. According to Sports Today, India will make 4 changes in the Boxing Day Test match. Shubman Gill will replace Prithvi Shaw, Rishabh Pant for Wriddhiman Saha, Mohammad Siraj for Mohammad Shami and KL Rahul coming in the absence of Virat Kohli.@mohsinaliisb — JAGDEEP SAINI (@sunnyjagdeep) December 20, 2020 Former Team India spinner Pragyan Ojha however feels that Saha deserves another shot at proving his worth as a batsman in the longest format of the game and that dropping him after just one match is unfair. We must drop Saha to accommodate Rishabh Pant considering his batting which is way ahead of Wriddhiman Saha. — ABHISHEK KUMAR SINGH (@abhishek151282) December 19, 2020 “I was backing Rishabh Pant for the first Test because of his batting. It was Pink ball and I was thinking that if Rishabh plays, he will get you those crucial runs. But now you are talking about a 36-year-old guy (Saha). He has just played 1 Test and if he is out of this team, there is no U-turn for him, so you give him one more chance,” Ojha told Sports Today. When it comes to dropping Shaw, the other non-performing batsman from the roster, Ojha is in complete agreement with this decision. Replace gill in place of shaw — Rajiv kumar (@Rajivku67999021) December 16, 2020 “I think yes, Prithvi Shaw, after looking at his batting. It is definitely Shubman Gill who should get a chance. Prithvi should now focus on domestic cricket because that is where he can play, get those runs and make a comeback,” he says. “If you look at Prithvi Shaw, he is totally out of this tournament, he is not there mentally. I don’t find the same thing with Wriddhiman Saha. Yes, we got out for 36. But the most important thing is that you have to show your belief in senior players. I feel Wriddhi can do wonders. One game and you do so many changes, I think it will hurt further. I feel you should give him one more chance,” he concluded. View the full article

The film is a sequel to the 2004 film ‘Julie' which Wikipedia describes as an ‘erotic film'. 18. Days after becoming the first Indian male cricketer to sign for an overseas team, Yusuf Pathan's dream of playing in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz went up in flames after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to overturn their decision. The 31-year-old cricketer was slated to play for Hong Kong-based franchise Kowloon Cantons after obtaining a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Indian cricket board. He was to join Pakistan's Shahid Afridi and England's Tymall Mills in the Cantons' line-up for the money-spinning T20 tournament. © BCCL Incidentally, Pathan is no longer the BCCI's centrally-contracted player. So when the news of his participation in the Hong Kong League emerged, it was believed that the Indian cricket board had softened its stance on releasing the Indian players for other T20 leagues. But now after the BCCI's sudden change of mind, the right-handed batsman will not be able to compete in the tournament which looked like a promising platform for the Indian cricketer to prepare for the upcoming IPL season. © BCCL The reason behind BCCI's U-turn is still unknown, but it has been understood that their decision was overwhelmed by a host of other players who also sought NOCs after expressing their interest in playing in other T20 leagues. Former Team India regular Dinesh Karthik is another player who saw his application get rejected by the BCCI after he sought an NOC to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). © BCCL Earlier this year, the BCCI had also recalled members of the national women's team - Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana - from the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia. Harmanpreet became the first Indian cricketer to play for an overseas team after signing for Sydney Thunder, while Mandhana was roped in by Brisbane Heat for the season. The latest development in Pathan's case is surely bad news for the Kowloon Cantons who probably have to find a last-minute replacement. The Hong Kong T20 Blitz, a four-team event, will span over a period of five days with the Cantons, Galaxy Gladiators Lantau, City Kaitak and Hong Kong Island United vying for the title.
