The coronavirus vaccines are now in the second phase of the distribution cycle in India. People in their 60s or above, and those over 45 years of age with pre-existing morbidities that make them more vulnerable to the pandemic, are being focused upon in this phase. Following the news of Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking his first of two vaccine shots, an image of the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri while getting vaccinated, has gone viral. Got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Thank you to the amazing medical professionals & scientists for empowering India 🇮🇳 against the pandemic. Extremely impressed with the professionalism shown by Kantaben & her team at Apollo, Ahmedabad in dealing with COVID-19 vaccination pic.twitter.com/EI29kMdoDF — Ravi Shastri (@RaviShastriOfc) March 2, 2021 “Got the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Thank you to the amazing medical professionals & scientists for empowering India against the pandemic. Extremely impressed with the professionalism shown by Kantaben & her team at Apollo, Ahmedabad in dealing with COVID-19 vaccination,” Shastri wrote in a tweet while sharing the image with the rest of the world. And while the idea was to create awareness towards the safety of getting vaccinated and pushing his followers to do the same, the notorious social media world went to work and produced some hilarious memes to troll the former India skipper. When he went for it, it was vaccine shots! That is why he looks so sad — NIKHILR (@NIKHILN03040519) March 2, 2021Seriously, why he need vaccine, he even killed corona while sneezing — Dhawal Sharma (@dhawal_Tweet) March 2, 2021Shastri has been targeted with memes on his fondness for alcohol in the past as well. From the time the picture of him getting out of the Team India bus with a beer in his hand to his story about getting caught while drinking as a member of the U-19 squad, the former cricketer himself has given enough ammunition to trolls to create content around him. Ironically, this is also not the first time during the ongoing Test series between India and England at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium that Shastri has been roasted online with alcohol memes. After the quick second-day end to the third Test match at the Motera stadium, writer and columnist Shobhaa De had also teased the former all-rounder for wrapping things up quickly in a dry state. Smart! @RaviShastriOfc pic.twitter.com/Mc22OIxVmb — Shobhaa De (@DeShobhaa) February 26, 2021 Shastri, however, deserves credit for taking the joke sportingly and even retweeting it with a caption: “Love the banter ! Feels good to bring some smiles in these tough times”. Love the banter ! Feels good to bring some smiles in these tough times 🏻 https://t.co/mzPe5MtItj — Ravi Shastri (@RaviShastriOfc) February 27, 2021 Ravi Shastri’s Men in Blue will play in the fourth and final match of the Test series against the touring England side at the Motera stadium from March 4, with the hopes of taking a 3-1 lead and qualifying for the finals of the World Test Championship. Kane Williamson’s New Zealand roster has also made it to the finals and will face off against either India or Australia based on the outcome of the Motera match. View the full article
