Post the debacle of Ranveer Singh-starrer 83, Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur's Jersey was the first movie to get pushed ahead amid the Omicron scare last year. Since then, fans are eagerly waiting for its release and the film is finally hitting the theatres on April 14, during the Baisakhi weekend. As Jersey is only a few days away from its release now, the makers have unveiled a new trailer. Shahid is shown striking sixes after sixes in a match while his friends and family keep reminding him that his chance is gone. Arjun's son becomes his ray of hope as he fights with his failure and the world. "Tu bata kaake, khelu ke nahi khelu? (You tell me son, should I play or not?)," the protagonist asks his son. The innocent kid replies, "Khelo na Papa, dil khol ke khelo. Jab cricket khelte ho, ek dum hero lagte ho mujhe (Play na Papa, play with your whole heart. When you play cricket, you look like a hero to me)". His son's words motivate Arjun to take up the bat and put on the jersey. The trailer shows his struggle, his return to the game, and what appears to be a successful conclusion. Overall, the film looks promising. However, others are still not happy with its box office clash with KGF 2 and Beast. Reacting to the trailer, a social media user wrote, "I can't wait for 14th April! There are only a handful of films that leave us wanting for more even after theatre lights turn and the credits start rolling. Not necessarily the films ending on a happy note, but the ones that often leave us confused and crave for answers in the end. © Eros International Why is it that some really good movies, especially those that end with a cliffhanger or an open-ended climax never get a sequel while films like ‘Baaghi’ and ‘SOTY’ keep on coming up with a whole series of films? That’s unfair. There are so many movies that we wished had an equally amazing sequel so we could get some answers after all. © UTV Motion Pictures Here are 6 such films where it was left to the audience to imagine and speculate what happened next, and we have been waiting for a sequel since, because we gotta know. 1. The Lunch Box A brillant, offbeat film that is made once in a blue moon in Bollywood. It deals with the parallel worlds of a widower and a woman stuck in a loveless marriage. In the end, it isn’t clear whether Saajan and Ila meet in the end. Did Saajan get her letter? Did she leave for Bhutan with her daughter? How did her husband react? A sequel would help, thanks! 2. Piku A wholesome movie showcasing the real relationship between a father and a daughter has a wholesome ending. However, when Rana asks how she will live all alone without her dad, Piku responds by saying “My father has prepared me for this.” What exactly did she mean? Also, we never got to see what happens with those two. 3. Go Goa Gone We have been waiting for a zombie apocalypse since 2013 now. Not in real life but in the sequel of India’s first zom-com Go Goa Gone that ended with the five slayers arriving on the shore and a note that said, “End is near….wait for the sequel.” They successfully flee the island only to come to see everything was damaged. There was an apocalypse implied which we never got. 4. Andhadhun In the ending scene, a blind Akash is seen playing piano in Kraków where Sophie finds him and then he knocks over a can with his stick. Everyone who watched this black comedy asked one question as the credits rolled, “Is he blind or can see now?” Did he take the offer to get treated by Dr. Swami? What was up with the rabbit? We need answers. 5. Dil Dhadakne Do We know that Ayesha ended her marriage and reunites with her ‘bachpan ka pyaar’ Sunny who promises to wait for her forever, but did Kabir & family manage to find Farah? And did Noorie and Rana have the courage to come clean about their affair to their parents? Also, we would love to see Ayesha and Sunny’s love story picking pace in the sequel. 6. PK PK successfully goes back to his ‘gola’ and returns after a year with another alien (played by Ranbir Kapoor) and we gotta know what happens next. It would be interesting to see him teach the human ways of living on Earth to his friend and meeting Jaggu again whose family isn’t probably superstitious like before. View the full article -
