  1. No matter what day of the week, you will find me playing games the moment I finish my work. While most movies these days turn out to be disappointing and have predictable plots, video games, on the other hand, offer more value and entertainment than ever before. Two years ago, I wrote a feature on how video games are already bigger than movies, today the industry has become bigger even in India. Games have also become a better medium for storytelling than movies right now. Here are 4 reasons why I prefer playing video games over watching movies: 1. Itâs More Immersive © CDProjektRed Games are known for having awesome character development and plot details that are not possible in movies. Since many games can run for over 20 hours, you get enough time to experience the story. In some games, you can even tell your own story by making key decisions or by developing a certain type of character. You can be evil in games or the good old hero trying to save the world, itâs your choice really especially in role-playing games. In movies and TV shows, you simply watch the main character do things while in games, YOU get to be the main character and experience the story for yourself. You can create how your character looks and what kind of clothes it can wear. You can even choose your characterâs voice and style of playing. Sure, not all games have the best plot but there are plenty of games out there with better storylines than most movies today. 2. You Live In a Whole Different World © Sega When playing open-world games, you donât only get to experience great characters but an entirely different world from your own as well. Some games feature a world with different islands, fauna and animals that you can interact with. We recently played Final Fantasy 7 Remake and the city of Midgar looks better than most cities in the world. Similarly, if you like a fantasy setting, you can check out the world of The Witcher series. If you ever wondered what Tokyo feels and looks like, you can check out games like the Yakuza series. There are so many different worlds to check out in games that can never be accurately represented in movies and TV shows. 3. I Donât Have To Deal With Bad Acting © naughty Dog Many movies feature actors that canât really act to save their lives. While iconic movies like The Godfather and other drama movies will always live-on; most movies today feature at least one bad actor that doesnât effectively suspend reality. However, while playing games, you can easily get lost in the world, narrative and gameplay for hours. Games now feature great voice-actors that make cut-scenes believable. Games like The Last of Us have a profound impact on players because of its great voice-acting and motion-captured cutscenes. It is also needed to point out that there are plenty of games that feature bad acting, animations and voice acting as well. Just like movies, we have bad games too and are not immune to bad actors either. 4. Video Games are Global © Unplash Whether you play PUBG or Rainbow Six Siege, you are bound to make friends from different regions to play the game together. Thatâs the beauty of video games, it connects people with each other from all over the world which isnât necessarily true for movies and TV shows. Games are developed all over the world and thereâs a high chance youâve played some of them. Ever played Mario or Contra? Both these games were developed in Japan. Played PUBG recently? It was developed by BlueHole based in South Korea. View the full article
  2. Since June last year, Australia has been engulfed by large bushfires, causing severe damage Down Under with approximately 46 million acres of land burnt, over 5,900 buildings destroyed, 30 people dead and over one billion animals killed including the possible extinction of many endangered species. And while big names and organisations from all over the world, including Hockey India did their bit to help the victims of the devastation, Cricket Australia took the latest and probably the biggest step in which they invited some of the biggest names of the previous generation of cricketing legends to play an exhibition match and collect funds. 61840 runs 171 centuries 4 World Cups trophies And Billion Memories ... in one frame 𤯠Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky ponting @sachin_rt#BigAppeal | #BushfireCricketBashpic.twitter.com/8zlPPDTgzD â Sachinð®ð³ Tendulkar FC CrickeTendulkar (@CrickeTendulkar) February 9, 2020 Being played at the Junction Oval, Melbourne, the Bushfire Cricket Bash also led to some of the finest gentlemen of the game in Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara to come out of retirement, pad up and play some knocks. While Tendulkar was supposed to be the coach of the Ponting XI team led by former Aussie skipper Ricky Ponting, it was 2019 Women's Cricketer of the Year, Ellyse Perry who challenged the Master Blaster to bat for one over to her deliveries. Not our day today, but we're gearing up for a huge day tomorrow with the Bushfire Cricket Bash straight after our must-win match against England!@sachin_rt, keen for a hit in the middle to rustle up a few more $ for bushfire affected communities? https://t.co/aKGDE5AH4f pic.twitter.com/RtAxyot7ow â Australian Women's Cricket Team (@AusWomenCricket) February 8, 2020 "Hey Sachin, it's awesome to have you out here in Australia supporting the Bushfire match," she had said. "We'd love to have a bowl to you and obviously fetch a few balls from over the boundary that you've hit. "We thought it would be an awesome way to raise a bit more money for the Bushfire Appeal, which I know you're already doing so much for,â she added. Tendulkar, who is a natural competitor and is willing to go that extra mile to collect enough funds for a good cause, had to say yes. Sounds great Ellyse. I would love to go out there & bat an over (much against the advice of my doctor due to my shoulder injury). Hope we can generate enough money for this cause, & to get me out there in the middle. "I would love to go out there and bat an over (much against the advice of my doctor due to my shoulder injury),â he tweeted. "Hope we can generate enough money for this cause, and to get me out there in the middle." And surely enough, we saw Tendulkar walk to the pitch, padded up in an unprecedented green and gold jersey and face Perry for six deliveries. 3. It has been over nine months since Marvel Studios presented us with Avengers: Endgame and with the digital version of the film made available to us since the past couple of months, I have indulged in multiple viewings ever since. While there are a lot of people who remained unhappy with the way the final movie turned out to be, I believe that the directors did a good job concluding Phase 3, albeit the numerous loopholes and inaccuracies in the theory that the film followed. Having said that, I decided to watch the movie at one-fourth of the normal speed and it led to some really interesting discoveries that were possible if we were to watch it at the speed it was meant to watch. NOTE: The idea was based on the YouTube series introduced by The Canadian Lad â. 1. Hulk Uses A Pencil To Push Buttons On The Time Machine © Marvel Studios While this was a detail that Marvel Studios would have easily missed out on, or would not have bothered to put in but the fact that they did add this was why I love their VFX team. It would have been difficult for Professor Hulk to push the buttons, especially with his sausage-like fingers. Banner was therefore made to use a pencil for the same. via GIPHY 2. Ant-Man Shrinks To Protect Himself From Blast © Marvel Studios When Thanos travels forward in time to try and defeat the Avengers during the events of Endgame, he commands his army to destroy their headquarters. When the building was getting bombarded, there was a scene in which a blast took place right in front of Scott Lang aka Ant-Man. In order to protect himself, Langâs helmet can be seen taking shape just milliseconds before he begins to shrink. via GIPHY 3. Wasp Has A Separate, Smaller Teleportation Ring © Marvel Studios Just moments ahead of the final battle, Captain America hears the sound of Doctor Strangeâs teleportation rings being formed out of thin air. As he turns around, he finds that all the previously decimated Avengers have returned. What we couldnât manage to see during this sequence was that Hope van Dyne aka the Wasp emerges out of a different, smaller ring. This addition was made for the obvious reason that when Thanos snapped his fingers in Infinity War, Hope was in a completely different spot than the rest of the team who were either in Wakanda or on Titan (Thanosâ home planet). via GIPHY 4. Thanosâ Helicopter Blade Remember the time when we thought that the way the Mad Titan rotated his blade defied the laws of physics? Turns out, there is a logical explanation to that. Upon watching the scene in slow motion, you can see that Thanos is holding on to the handle while the blades on either sides rotate around it like a helicopter. via GIPHY 5. Pepper Fires At Nothing © Marvel Studios And the final discovery that came out of this experiment was probably something Marvel would have wanted to go unnoticed but when has anything escaped from the internet? The scene in which Pepper Potts and Tony Stark work together to form this unique looking ray-cannon, it can be seen clearly that the former fires the laser at literally nothing! View the full article
  4. Hillary Clinton terms watching documentary chronicling her life as 'humbling'PASADENA: Hillary Clinton said she experienced several humbling moments while doing interviews for and watching a new documentary about her life, her surprise loss in the 2016 US presidential campaign, and the polarizing attitudes she inspired throughout her five-decade career. The four-part documentary, titled Hillary, which debuts on Hulu on March 6, chronicles Clinton’s life, from her upbringing in Chicago to Yale law school, first lady, senator, secretary of state and her failed bid to become the first female US president. It also explores how Clinton’s rise dovetailed with the push for women’s equality. Clinton took part in 35 hours of interviews with filmmaker Nanette Burstein, who collected behind-the-scenes footage during the 2016 campaign. Both said that no topics were off limits. Clinton, who is now 72, discussed everything from her loss to Donald Trump to her husband’s infidelity that led to his 1998 impeachment. Bill Clinton also was interviewed for the film. “There were a lot of humbling moments,” Clinton said on Friday at a Television Critics Association event where she previewed the documentary. “One was the recognition that I have been often, in my view, mischaracterised, misperceived, and that I have to bear a lot of the responsibility for that.” “I would just kind of blow it off, brush it off, not think about it,” she said. Clinton said she was often surprised by the reaction to comments she made that she felt “were not that far out of the ordinary.” While watching the documentary, she said there were times she wished she could have conveyed her thoughts in a better way. “But I also know that I was this lightning rod, and I was somebody who people were quick to judge, often having nothing to do with me, but with the times and with the attitudes about women,” she said. “Hillary” will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, later this month and also will screen at the Berlin Film Festival in February. Filmmaker Burstein said she choose Clinton as a subject in part because she wanted to explore how Clinton had provoked such strong and opposite opinions. “I wanted people to understand this is a historical figure who is incredibly polarizing, and why,” Burstein said. “One of the processes I was trying to show was how did this come to happen.”
  5. Saif Ali Khan has been in the Hindi film industry for close to three decades now, and this long journey is marked with some of his great and not-so-great performances. The young Nawab, in his early twenties, essaying roles that were flamboyant and capricious, quickly became a youth icon who was a mix of the boy next door and a casanova. © Yash Raj Films Cut to 2019, and with the teaser for his upcoming film Jawaani Jaanemann hitting the screens, we can once again catch a glimpse of the 'fuckboi' Saif, the makers thought his audience was missing. The Jawaani Jaanemann teaser isn't disappointing. Because right after the first 10 seconds it enters a familiar territory which is easily identifiable for anyone who has watched some of Saif's box office hits. He is the same flirtatious vagabond Vicky from Yeh Dillagi, the hilarious wannabe boyfriend Sameer from Dil Chahta Hai before he meets Pooja, the unapologetic womanizer from Hum Tum and Salaam Namaste and the obnoxiously pathetic playboy Gautam from Cocktail. © Illuminati Films Only, this time he is no 'boy' next door but instead will be seen playing the role of a 40-year-old father who, going by the teaser, still hasn't quite figured out how to keep his pants on when his daughter is not looking. © Pooja Entertainment While not much has been revealed about the film's plot, reportedly the film will trace the relation between Saif's character and his on-screen daughter set to be played by debutante Alaia Furniturewala. If you haven't seen the teaser yet, check it out here: Are you looking forward to the movie as much as we are? Let us know in the comments below View the full article
  6. Housefull 4, starring Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Bobby Deol, Kriti Kharbanda, Pooja Hegde and Riteish Deshmukh, has hit the screens and Twitter is flooded with reactions from the audiences. Well, if you go by critics' opinion, the movie is bland and not at all up to the mark. In fact, the audience also agrees with the critics as most of them have found the movie baseless and believe it lacked a script. They are bashing the movie left, right and center. #Housefull4Review DISASTER — NO1 CRITIC (@SULTAN_KI_SENA) October 25, 2019 Don't watch this crap, save your money and enjoy your Diwali with family :) Don't let this crap movie ruin your festival #Housefull4 #Housefull4Review pic.twitter.com/SS7JUsd9vA — Asad (@asadzafran) October 25, 2019 We'll have to give it to this viewer for enduring the film till 20 minutes after interval. #Housefull4Review brain damaging, I had to leave the theater 20 minutes after interval because I have to live, I was unable to see my future #Housefull4 — VD Red (@VD_Utd) October 25, 2019 Others, who endured it for longer had even worse (or better) reactions. #Housefull4Review itni kharab film hai dimaag ka bhosda kr diya — à¤à¤¤à¤°à¤à¤à¥ मिà¤à¤¼à¤¾à¤ (@ChohanSRKian) October 25, 2019 After watching #Housefull4 my Honest #Housefull4Review is :( 1st Half - Torture, Headache Akki fan - Bhai 2nd Half ka bata 2nd Half - Utna bataya kafi nhi hai? Director Farhad Samji earlier told IANS, "It is a period comedy... something that we are doing for the first time. The look, clothes, and scale of the film are done on a different level. That's the challenge." Even after watching the trailer, people were like 'who the hell keeps asking for Housefull movies' and guess what? After seeing the reactions, we are wondering what's a bigger challenge - making the movie or watching it. If you want to be warned, you can check out the trailer below: Are you still planning to watch the movie this weekend? Do let us know in the comments section below.
  7. As a designer, Amit Aggarwal can be seen as a luminary who has been pushing the sartorial envelope by using rather unconventional materials. © Amit Aggarwal Imagine seeing a groom or groomsmen in a pret outfit made using recycled plastic, and industrial materials. A decade ago, something like this would have been considered blasphemous. Today, however, such creations have not only been normalised, it seems they are the need of the hour. We sit down with Amit for a candid conversation over men's couture, sustainable clothing and all things fashion. © Amit Aggarwal Q. As a veteran designer of the Indian Fashion industry, how would you say have we grown over the years? I think the entire community has grown to be more responsible and aware in terms of what it is creating. An increased number of unique voices has added to diversity within the industry and how Indian fashion is received world over. The new wave of designers is very exploratory and sincere in everything they are doing. © Amit Aggarwal There are definitely more names that are representing the country at international platforms. A label may not be at international fashion weeks but you will find them retailing at the most exclusive concept stores worldwide, that is the kind of presence the country has, where designers are known for their craftsmanship. We are not just a production hub anymore, we have stories to tell and the world is watching us. Q. What direction do you think the industry is taking? As a fashion community, we are much more experimental and vocal than we used to be. There is an active discussion on responsible fashion, which is so commendable. We may be a younger industry but the opportunities available within and outside the country are by no means behind our western counterparts. © Amit Aggarwal Q. What is that one current trend that we see today on the ramp, that has the potential of making it big among common, regular people in the future? I think power dressing is a trend that is dominating this season and really has that potential to become the norm. A structured suit is something that has so much impact but at the same time can be worn by just about anyone. Whether it's work or an outing, I feel garments with a certain sense of versatility are the way forward. Q. Tell us something about your label AM.IT, and your fascination with man-made textiles. AM.IT happened to satiate my urge to ensure natural and manmade textiles co-exist. As a brand, it envisions organic resources to comply with technological advancements. It shares a lot of nuances with our main couture line, and yet is designed for a different occasion I would say. © Amit Aggarwal Q. How big of an impact has e-commerce or online shopping made in high fashion? The fact that one can browse a collection online with full details regarding its fabric, price, fit etc. has definitely enticed a community of online shoppers. An internet query may translate into a store visit but it is something that gives many people a reason to indulge with brands. Although I believe that any kind of clothing should be bought in person, I'm quite encouraging towards all online shoppers around me. © Amit Aggarwal Q. What is that one trend in men's fashion that you don't like, or don't agree with? The one trend that I do not agree with, is that of men playing too safe when it comes to how to dress. Fashion to me, is the biggest way to express myself, so I particularly appreciate it when men are experimental and want to push the envelope with their dressing. Q. How do you think the industry as a whole is in dealing with this issue of sustainable and “eco-friendly” fashion? Even if sustainable fashion has become a fad these days, I'm glad more brands are pushing for a common cause. There is not one but multiple blueprints around which designers are practising sustainability. I think the conversation has moved forward from utilising waste or handloom. All this effort has impacted people to be more mindful of their buying habits, the choices and the little changes they make in their personal lives. © Amit Aggarwal Q. What are your views on the debate around Maximalism vis-a-vis Minimalism? Our history is full of maximalism in arts & crafts. As a culture, we are the epitome of extravagance and there is no way we can deny it. It is bound to repeat itself like any other creative movement. A creator has a choice to utilise a concept in their work. As for minimalism, it is an aftereffect of maximalism, derived from the stress, expense and near-religious commitment of overindulgence. In my work, I try to explore all of these concepts with an active awareness of how it will affect society and ecology at large. © Amit Aggarwal Q. Tell us something about your creative process. How do you come up with themes, motifs and images for your creations? Materials and surfaces are an important aspect of my creative process. Each season is dedicated to a selection of materials that are explored in every way possible in accordance with a set of visual components that help give shape to the mood of the collection. It is a non-linear process where ideas can emerge from my recent travels, books that I happen to read, movies or even what I am going through in my personal life. I tend to get inspired by nature so that becomes a recurring element in most of our collections. © MensXP Q. Where do you think men's fashion in India is heading? I think we are at a place where various factors have enabled men to experiment with their looks without any inhibitions regarding how they are required to dress. Many designers are creating one-off collections that are primarily for men. This relationship is crucial for the men's fashion scene to thrive in any community and we are more than excited to explore this when we did. Through the years, we received continuous feedback from our clients that it was high time we designed something for men. So, our decision to create menswear was really the growing interest from customers who wanted something curated for them. Creating a collection for men is not the same as it is for women, for obvious reasons. But we are loving it so far! I look forward to men sporting the most daring and extravagant of silhouettes and colours. © Amit Aggarwal Q. Three words you'd use to describe your signature style. Experimental. Eloquent. Exploratory Q. What is your favourite historical era in terms of menswear, and why? Egyptian men were the first to adopt clothing as an expression or a sense of style. Until then the purpose of clothing was merely functional. © Amit Aggarwal Q. Do you think traditional Indian menswear is evolving? What is traditional will remain so. Yes, menswear is evolving. As designers, we try and create a contemporary outlook, building upon tradition as inspiration. Q. One celebrity who can teach everyone else a lesson or two on how to pull off the Indian aesthetic elegantly, when it comes to menswear. Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh. I think they sport a traditional look exceptionally well. Q. One thing men should never do while dressing up in traditional Indian wear. Never say never! Men can always own what they wear, I would personally say experiment as much and have fun with your clothing. © Amit Aggarwal Q. One traditional Indian menswear item you believe every Indian man should have in his wardrobe, and why. A well-tailored suit, in a neutral colour. I think it's a great way to build a traditional or formal look. Men's fashion in India slipped through the cracks of the mainstream fashion scene and has stayed under the radar for far too long. Take a look at any fashion event - fashion weeks, fashion shows et all, and you'll see how in most of them, menswear seems to be an afterthought. Furthermore, shows focussing exclusively on menswear are a rarity. As a series, Draping Indian Men is an earnest attempt to celebrate the changing phase of men's fashion in India, and those pioneering geniuses who have come to define our sartorial sensibilities.
  8. You can call me lazy or even a home bird but hey, I am just a girl who loves watching some great content in the comfort of her home, especially now with some path-breaking shows we get to stream online! I mean hello, what is the point of troubling your body when you can get access to 24/7 good quality entertainment at home, right? Well, for couples, date nights are slowly turning into binge-watching nights, all thanks to the amazing content that we get to see online nowadays. There is no denying that these online web series are introducing the masses to some quality content - realistic plots, empowering cast and stellar production design. From production quality, acting to the real hero of the story, the script, Indian web series are a force to reckon with. And one such show we simply cannot wait to start binge-watching is MX Original Series 'Thinkistan'. Based on advertising agencies, Thinkistan is directed by veteran ad filmmaker N. Padmakumar where he brings his real-life experiences to reel life. The show is set in the 1990s, and features powerful performers like Mandira Bedi, Satyadeep Misra and Vasuki in pivotal roles. It is a true depiction of the fast-paced lives people lead in the world of advertising, and showcases harsh realities of everything you thought you knew about the domain. The premise of the show follows the graphs of two contrasting characters slugging it out in the seductive, mad world of advertising. Amit (essayed by Naveen Kasturia) is a Hindi speaking junior copy writer who comes from Bhopal while English trainee copywriter Hema (Played by Shravan Reddy) is a suave, well-read metropolitan. Amit and Hema represent a divide caused by language and social class that is seen in India, till date. The plot is dynamic and compelling, and the characters are convincing. This is one show that will make you think, question, relate, and most importantly, have a great time! From corporate politics, catfights, unrealistic deadlines, to out-of-turn promotions and more, this is one show that is uber relatable and we cannot wait to start streaming it. 9. Netflix has been at the forefront of streaming video content for consumers and is actively looking to make the experience even better. At first, the company rolled out 4K and HDR support for many of their originals and now, the company is investing in another experiential feature. © Unsplash Netflix has announced that the company is bringing "studio quality” sound for content on its platform that will enhance the overall experience of a viewer. The company is increasing the audio bitrate up to 640 kbps on devices that support 5.1 surround sound and up to 768 kbps for Dolby Atmos. The audio quality will be adaptive similar to how video quality adjusts according to your internet speed. There is a catch though, the high-quality audio will only be available for Premium Subscribers. © Unsplash According to Netflix, “Our high-quality sound feature is not lossless, but it is perceptually transparent. That means that while the audio is compressed, it is indistinguishable from the original source. Based on internal listening tests, listening test results provided by Dolby, and scientific studies, we determined that for Dolby Digital Plus at and above 640 kbps, the audio coding quality is perceptually transparent. Beyond that, we would be sending you files that have a higher bitrate (and take up more bandwidth) without bringing any additional value to the listening experience.” These changes were inspired by a viewing session with the Duffer Brothers, where they were left unimpressed during a screening of 'Stranger Things' Season 2. Since then, Netflix has improved the bitrate for the show to meet expectations of audiences and the Duffer Brothers.
  10. **SPOILER ALERT** With less than four days to go for probably the biggest movie of the decade, speculations and wild theories have been making headlines day in and out. While some ideas have a realistic feel to them, others are straight out bizarre and make no sense whatsoever. And some of the restless Marvel Cinematic Universe fans could not resist the temptation to watch the three-minute long movie footage that was leaked by one of the Marvel Studios employees last week. But not us. Not us. So, while keeping in mind our loyalty towards the Marvel Comics and the Cinematic Universe, here are five things that you must expect when you watch 'Avengers: Endgame'. Two Fights Against Thanos Based on the millions of trailers put out by the YouTube channel of Marvel Studios, it is pretty much evident that in the 3 hour 2 minute of screen time, the audience will get to watch two wars being carried out Captain America and the rest of the earth's mightiest heroes. While the first one will be unplanned, emotional and hurried, the second would clearly follow a well structured plan. Someone Gets Badly Injured In The First Half Of The Movie Taking an educated guess here but we believe with the wounds of losing one half of the universe with Thanos quick snap, the Avengers try to take him down with the help of Captain Marvel who believe she can take him on, especially when her powers basically come from one of the Infinity Stones. But underestimating the Mad Titan leads the team to lose an integral part of themselves, someone who gets thrashed and absolutely dominated by Thanos just like Hulk was in the initial moments of Infinity War. Unable to carry on fighting, they must be taken back to the Avengers headquarters. Time Lapse Based on the length and colour of Natasha Romanoff's hair, it is pretty much obvious that the events of Endgame will span between two to ten months during which a lot of new developments take place, previously misplaced characters return home and new plans to eliminate Thanos are thought about. Somebody Dies (For Good) As the title suggests, 'Endgame' refers to a Chess move in which the player must sacrifice one of his most crucial Chess pieces in order to get an upper hand over his opponent. Maybe during the final fight against the Mad Titan, one of the leading characters like maybe Hawkeye will get into a bit of trouble and someone will jump in the middle of the attack and help his partner out of trouble while giving up his own life. Big New Character At The End Endgame can not finish without the introduction of at least one Marvel character to continue with the franchise and the universe along with. There are a lot of talk about the introduction of someone really powerful and not a habitant of the earth, who has had some sort of a rivalry with Thanos due to his previous profession of visiting planets and eliminating half their population. Someone like Adam Warlock. Other characters who people think and hope to see in the end of the movie include Professor X, Rest of the X-Men, and these guys.
  11. How would you spend your final hours if death was imminent? Would you eat the finest of the meals or get drunk, spend time with your friends or have *** because who knows what tomorrow holds? Well, before you tread ahead, let us tell you this post is dark and full of spoilers. The second episode of 'Game Of Thrones' season 8 aired this morning and among the list of things that surprised us was Arya-Gendry's lovemaking scene. Right before the scene, she was sitting with The Hound and realized that she doesn't want to spend her final hours (if they are her final hours) contemplating things or getting drunk and miserable. And here's the thing: Arya has really evolved over the seasons and especially after her training with the faceless man, her onscreen presence tried to emulate the qualities of a calculative assassin. But we've seen baby Arya draw a better bow than Bran in the first episode, we've seen her grow and fight the lady stereotype thrusted upon her. So seeing her grow up and have human desires was a little surprising. Here's what Twitter had to say about it. Stuff we didn't know we needed! 13. It's been 4 years since I cut the cord and if you're looking to switch from traditional TV to streaming content, you will probably need a streaming device for your TV. Yes, you can watch content on your smartphone but nothing really beats the big screen. I personally own almost every possible streaming device that you can buy in India, in every room. If you are looking for a streaming device for your room, look no further than this list: 1. Apple TV © BCCL It's probably our go-to streaming box that supports every App out there. As a part of the Apple ecosystem, you get access to thousands of applications on Apple's App Store. Apart from applications, Apple TV can also support casual gaming and with Apple Arcade on its way, you will be able to play console-level games on this device. The Apple TV plays host to every essential app such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube and Hotstar. Apple is also launching its own video streaming service which you can read more about here. You can even get the 4K version if you own a 4K television. 2. Google Chromecast/Ultra © BCCL Chromecast is by far our favourite casting device that can take care of every streaming need. You can even mirror your Google Chrome tabs if you want to stream content from third-party sources. In fact, some of the video players on websites have direct native support for Chromecast. Applications such as Netflix, YouTube, and Hotstar can also stream content directly to Chromecast via your smart device or the Chrome browser. It even supports Google Assistant which is a nifty feature to have if you want to stream content effortlessly. Even though Google doesn't sell Chromecast Ultra officially in India, you can still get your hands on one through unofficial channels. It supports 4K streaming across all applications. 3. Amazon Fire TV © Amazon It's probably our least favourite streaming device on our list as we find the operating system clunky and slow. It does not have native support for YouTube, which is a big negative point for us. The original FireStick TV's remote is also notorious for draining out batteries extremely quickly. Make sure you always have spare batteries or rechargeable batteries handy. In terms of content, FireStick TV does have native support for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix and Hotstar. You can even use Kodi to manage your own library if you know what you're doing. There's also a 4K version available to buy which takes the viewing experience up by a notch. 4. Nvidia Shield TV © Nvidia Nvidia Shield is a device that is focused on streaming video but also appeals to gamers who own an Nvidia GPU. Nvidia Shield TV supports 4K resolution and HDR streaming based on the Android TV platform. You can play games from Android's app store or stream your PC games over WiFi. For 4K streaming, it supports all the major OTT services besides Hotstar.
  14. The year was 1992. The US men's basketball team was pretty much swatting its opponents away. USA took on Croatia for the gold medal match and won by a 32-point margin. That side in the years to come, came to be known as the Dream Team and truth be told, it had some big names. The team had the likes of Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing and Chris Mullin among others. But one man drew a lot of attention and already had a budding career with Chicago Bulls in the NBA. That man was Michael Jordan. In 8 games, he averaged nearly 15 points and by the time he retired, would leave a legacy behind to be proud of. © Getty Images 32,292 points, 6672 rebounds and 5633 assists speaks a lot of his ability on the court. He also averaged over 30 points per game. When one hears his name, the memory of him flying in the air to make a basket stands out. But this is not the story of his legacy, it is the impact he made on that day in 1992 in the mind of a 6-year old boy who was, well, still getting to understand the world around him. Yours truly was discovering this new sport where one had to put the ball in the basket and here was this player who was stealing his imagination. I actually owe a lot to basketball. In my school days, while I was more into cricket, basketball was the sport that I played to keep fit. In fact, while it may sound a little too much of a stretch, I even owe my very late growth spurt to the sport. But enough about all that, back to why Jordan was so important in my life. © Getty Images Growing up in the 1990s, particularly in India, one did not have much access to sports like nowadays as far as information was concerned. There was no digital media where we could get updates just like that. Back then, the newspaper, TV and radio were our only options. NBA matches would be telecast late at night as they were being played right across the world, and the odds of staying up late in the school days was out of the question. Still, the fan in me would not give up. Occasionally I would sneak into the living room and watch with a low volume when Jordan was playing. It paid off. I got to see him win the NBA championship with the Bulls in 1996, 1997 and 1998. Not to mention being part of the All-Star from 1996 to 1998 and 2002 to 2003. Sometimes I do wonder, what if Jordan was playing now and that too in his prime? We sure would have loved to see him take on the likes of LeBron James. But when all is said and done, Jordan is the reason I started playing and watching the game, to begin with. It all began on that day in 1992. It was a pleasure to watch him on the court and the inner child in me counts himself lucky. So from the bottom of my heart, I thank you Michael Jordan, for making me fall in love with the basket, the ball and the court.
  15. One would think twice before getting or even attempting to get into a battle of words with human lexicon Shashi Tharoor. The amazing man can put a lock on anyone's tongue with the amount of vocabulary knowledge his brain has and his language skills are probably sharper than an IELTS examiner. © Twitter However, ace comedian Hasan Minhaj, who is currently enjoying mega-fame with his show on Netflix, attempted to indulge in a battle of words with Mr Tharoor, and to our surprise, the Congress leader lost! Well, in his defence, it was a millennial slang war but whatever, watching the video is a hilarious visual delight. View this post on Instagram I hope @shashitharoor starts talking like this in parliament. A post shared by Hasan Minhaj (@hasanminhaj) on Mar 19, 2019 at 7:24am PDT From the word 'thicc' to the word 'snacc' , Dr. Tharoor is amused beyond measure as he willingly gives up on the game but his sporting spirit and innocent ignorance of these millennial slangs makes the video more fun to watch.
  16. A lot has been said about 'Captain Marvel' in the last few weeks. Would it have been received in a much more positive way if it was a part of the MCU plan from the start? Probably. Would it have been considered a breakout movie for female superheroes if 'Wonder Woman' hadn't come out 2 years ago? Probably. For some, 'Captain Marvel' was nothing more than filler content from the start and trying to convince them otherwise is futile. But, the fact remains, if you've invested in 20 MCU movies over the last 10 years or so, then why not invest in one more before watching, what will possibly be, the highest grossing movie of all time? So, if you haven't watched the movie yet and are willing to understand my reasoning with an open mind then read on. Even if you've watched the movie and just want a few reasons to justify why 'Captain Marvel' can't be missed, read on. But, if you've already made up your mind about 'Captain Marvel' not being worth it, then go watch 'Avengers: Endgame' when it's out. You'll feel like you've missed something in between. There's no coming back from that, though. You can only watch 'Endgame' for the first time once. © Disney Backstory The only reason you're invested in the Avengers as a team and the MCU as a franchise is because you've seen all your favourite characters develop on the big screen. Almost all of the superheroes (barring the Hulk) have received multiple solo movies where we get to learn more about them without having to worry about the collective. That's something 'Captain Marvel' lacks right now. No one knows who she is or what she can do. Yes, a two-hour movie is not going to allow for as much character development as a couple of films or a trilogy. But, it's way better than nothing. Can you imagine Captain Marvel just showing up and kicking ass in 'Avengers: Endgame?' Everyone would have been like, "who is she? If she's so powerful, why haven't we heard of her before?" And most importantly, "where has she been for the last 20 movies?" (If you want to know all the possible reasons Captain Marvel was missing from the last 20 movies, then let me know in the comments and I'll write a separate article on that.) To get answers to all of these questions you'll have to watch 'Captain Marvel.' There are no two ways about it. © Disney Being That Know-It-All Marvel Fan We all know that one person who claims to know everything about everything in the MCU. I'm talking to that person directly right now. Imagine not knowing how the Avengers Initiative got its name or how Nick Fury lost an eye. One of the most entertaining parts of any MCU movie are the easter eggs. There are so many of them. Yes, some of them are integral to the plot and can't be ignored but there are others that don't make much of a difference apart from getting a few oohs and aahs from the audience. Imagine watching 'Avengers: Endgame' and the guy beside you says, "I know how Captain Marvel got her powers" and you're just sitting there going, “whaaatttt…” Not going to be good for your reputation, right? There are quite a few questions answered in 'Captain Marvel' so you should give it a watch. You do want to retain the title of Mr Know-It-All when it comes to the MCU, right? © Disney Post-Credits Scene Marvel is the only production house who has figured out how to get the audience to stay glued to their seats until the very last credit has shown up on screen – post-credit scenes. Yes, we look forward to them almost as much as we do the movies themselves. There have been a few let downs in between with inconsequential post-credits scenes and it makes sense that the audience didn't expect much from 'Captain Marvel' as the credits rolled on to the screen. But, as usual, Marvel blew our socks off with just 5 seconds or so. Those 5 seconds are perhaps the reason 'Avengers: Endgame' will become the highest grossing movie of all time. Yes, those 5 seconds! You've probably watched the latest 'Endgame' trailer already. so you already have some more information on the movie but I'm not going to spoil anything for you if you haven't. Go watch the movie and then the trailer. It's absolutely worth it. © Disney It's A Great Nick Fury Origin Story Yeah, I couldn't resist saying it because it's the truth. We might not associate with Captain Marvel because she was just tossed into the mix recently but we know Fury. This is probably as close to a solo film the character will ever get. Do you see anyone complaining? I don't think so. Why? A young Nick Fury is a delight. So, even if you don't care about Carol Danvers, go watch the movie to learn more about Nick Fury. I know I've already said this a few times but, it's worth it. Considering the amount of money the movie is raking in, I don't think there are many who needed reasons to watch it. But, hopefully, for the few remaining 'rebels,' I hope I've been able to give you at least one reason to watch the movie.

Ever since the trailer of 'Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga' was released, one thing was clear that it's not going to be just another regular Bollywood love story starring Rajkummar Rao and Sonam Kapoor. 19. Now that 4K gaming is widely available thanks to Nvidia's RTX graphic cards, the Xbox One X and Ps4 Pro (upscaled); you need a 4K monitor that compliments your setup. If you are buying a new monitor in 2019, it should be a 4K monitor as some monitors cost as much as its full HD counterparts. 4K monitors can be used not only for gaming but also consume content from services like Netflix, Amazon Prime and others that offer 4K content. 4K monitors are getting as popular as 4K TVs simply because gamers now want an immersive experience. The plus point of having a 4K monitor is that it uses less space, has better refresh rates, better response time and can now be purchased for cheaper. Here are some of the best 4K monitors you can buy in India right now: 1. BenQ EL2870U 28-inch UHD 4K HDR (Rs 32,899) © BenQ BenQ is known for making some of the best gaming monitors and the same can be said for their 4K variants. This particular model has a response time of 1ms, supports HDR content and has a resolution of 3840x2160. It has support for AMD FreeSync Technology which basically aides in better frame rates and prevents screen tearing. It's one of the more expensive monitors from our list but it's definitely worth the price. 2. Acer Predator XB281HK 28-inch UHD 4K (Rs 45,000) © Acer The Acer Predator XB281HK makes it on our list as it's quite similar to the BenQ monitor above but has a bit more aggressive “gaming” look. It's also compatible with NVIDIA G-SYNC and has a refresh rate of 60Hz. It has a resolution of 3840x2160 and can also be set up vertically. A G-Sync monitor feature is a must-have tool for anyone who games on PC with an Nvidia Graphic Card. 3. LG 24 inch Gaming 4K UHD Monitor (Rs 22,999) © LG Not all 4K monitors need to cost as much as the ones mentioned above. If you are on a tight budget you can always look at alternatives like the LG Ultra HD 4K monitor. It has an IPS panel and is 4-inches smaller than the Acer and BenQ monitors. It also does not have HDR support which is something you may want to sacrifice considering the price it is being offered for. The response time is also set to 5ms which may not be ideal for gaming but its a perfect deal if you like to watch content. 4. Acer KG281K 28 inch 4K Monitor (Rs 24,299) © MensXP/Akshay Bhalla This is by far our favourite gaming monitor that also does not break your bank balance. I personally use this monitor for my gaming needs and has all the bell and whistles you want. It costs a bit more than the LG monitor but it is also bigger in size. It has a response time of 1ms, 60Hz refresh rate and has AMD Free Sync Technology. It is probably the most value for money 4K monitor from our entire list. The only issue with this monitor was to do with the speakers as we found them a bit too soft for our liking. 5. Acer Predator Z35P bmiphz (Rs 80,991) © YouTube This is by far the most expensive monitor on our list because it simply has everything you can imagine. It has a 35-inch Curved 1800R UltraWide Screen with 3440 x 1440 resolution. It has a refresh rate of 100Hz which is quite rare for a 4K panel. It has Nvidia G-Sync support. It's a direct import from the U.S. which is why it costs so much but is currently available to buy on Amazon.in
  20. We all know that as soon as a movie releases, a pirated version of it is available online almost immediately. I'm not saying it's right, but it's inevitable. But to fight the piracy of their movie 'Uri', the makers had a brilliant idea - just make a different version of the movie and post it online because it'll be a brilliant lesson that people will never forget. The pirated version online features a normal movie scene transition into the actors talking to the person watching telling them to go to the theatres to see the movie. In the pirated version, Yami Gautam's character says, “Surgical strikes 0400 hours pe start hogi. Unki army ko pata bhi nahin chalega kikya hua.” Then, Vicky's character turns to the camera and says, “Theek usi tarah, jaise iss waqt hum aapke screen mein ghus gaye hain. Aur aapko pata bhi nahin chala.” How freaked out would you be if Vicky Kaushal started talking to you while you're watching his movie? Imagine downloading a 3-4 gb movie and then you're all settled in and ready to watch it, then Vicky Kaushal and Yami Gautam come on the screen to call you out! Ouch, that's gotta hurt. You'll have to live with the fact that you've just disappointed Vicky Kaushal. A movie about the surgical strike pulling off the greatest surgical strike on piracy, it really was meant to be. 21. Porn- the very word itself is enough to grab anyone's attention. So much so, that before the ban on pornographic websites was enforced, half of the top ten websites in the country were porn sites! They even ranked higher in traffic than Twitter, Instagram and Wikipedia. It would be safe to say that the ban hasn't stopped people from watching porn and different tricks are being used to get access. So, Does Watching Porn Affect People Who Are Into Fitness? © Thinkstock Images First things first, if you want to get fit you have to eat according to your goals, train hard and smart and most importantly, be patient and consistent. But if your testosterone levels are low, it would be harder for you to pack on that precious muscle mass as compared to someone who is in the average or above average range. Also, testosterone is the hormone that makes men more manly, as in, the more testosterone your body produces, the more masculine you will be. Now, the question for people who are into leading a fit lifestyle is, does watching porn affect testosterone levels? What Does The Research Say? There has been a lot of research into this matter where the testosterone and other hormones levels and physical performance are evaluated by showing the subjects different types of pictures and videos like photos of food and happy couples to action videos, funny videos, sad videos, and of course, adult videos. The response is checked in terms of whether the participant is neutral to it or does it affect the mood one way or another. Let's Look At The Studies In this study, 12 people who were athletes were shown video clips which were pornographic, sad and aggressive in nature, before making them check their 3 rep squat max, and the results were very interesting. While watching porn did actually boost testosterone levels, on the other hand, testosterone levels decreased and the "aggressive" video clip increased cortisol levels. Finally, when the subjects were asked to do the three-rep squat maxes after viewing the clips, those who had watched porn saw an improvement. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21983238 In this study, 20 young adult males where shown full-length porn movies which boosted their testosterone levels up by a whopping 35 per cent. The increase began around 15 minutes into the film and peaked 60-90 minutes later. This showed an increase in motivation and competitiveness and a decrease in exhaustion. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/4001279 Let's do the math here. Assume that your normal testosterone is around 500nh/dl, which is considered to be on the lower side of the spectrum, and you raise your testosterone levels by watching something arousing by around 35% and it remains elevated throughout your workout, that would leave you somewhere around 675nh/dl, which is considered average. So, it won't give you the same effects as sticking a needle up your backside as most of the gym rats nowadays do, but it certainly would make a small difference as the quality of your workouts will go up (heavier weights, more energy, and increased aggressiveness), which is a LOT better than sticking needles filled with synthetic testosterone, which will shut down your natural testosterone production instantly. Almost 80 per cent of all the research done on the subject shows that there is an elevation in testosterone levels when an external stimulus is introduced. What Does It Mean? © YouTube A very important thing to notice here is that all of the improvement in performances occurred when the men did not "finish" their porn viewing session, you know what I mean. If you do finish your session, your performance in the gym will be affected for around two hours or so after you finish “doing it”. So, does this mean that all that extra testosterone will lead to more gains? Difficult to say, as I mentioned above, there are a lot more factors that come into play besides your natural testosterone levels when it comes to building muscle, so don't expect magic but it 'can' help. But who are we kidding? You're going to try it anyway! 22. "The reason we're successful, darling? My overall charisma, of course." - Freddie Mercury When I was a kid, music was an integral part of my life. So much so, it would play all night and day in my house. Both my parents loved their share of music and invested a lot of their time listening to some tunes from the 60's, 70's & the 80'. While my mother loved her some disco vibes like Abba and Boney M, my father was more inclined towards rock 'n roll, jazz and some blues and swing from the 50's. © Pintrest It was in my early childhood years when he'd installed a new sound system and he played a song on it which stuck with me for life and it was possibly the first song I'd ever heard, or that I can remember. It was Queen's 'Radio Gaga'. Of course, back then I was a little too young to understand the lyrics so I'd just go 'Gaga & Goo Goo' whenever they sang the chorus but as the years progressed, I started hearing a lot more Queen, just so I could go about my day with Freddie's Mercury's perfect 5 octave pitch. Jesus, what a voice it was! Queen has been one of those pitch-perfect bands, emerging from the glam rock scenario in the 70's and becoming a sensation in its time. Although it wasn't a one-man-show kinda band, the front man and the lead singer did make the 'Queen experience' legendary- for himself and, of course, for the band too. From his outfits on stage to his witty comebacks, Freddie did it just about right in the 70's and the 80's and we loved him for the man he was. © BBC His Indian connection comes as no surprise. Yes, he was a Parsi from Mumbai who spent most of his childhood years in India and learnt to play the piano. His official name Farrokh Bulsara is lesser known to people because he chose a different name for himself which did go down in history instead. Now with the release of 'Bohemian Rhapsody' on the 15th of November, 2018, we're all geared up to revisit the 70's and the 80's, where Queen literally ruled the land with their lyrical content and music. The movie talks about the band's struggle to stick together, Freddie's ostentatious lifestyle and flamboyancy on and off stage and of course his last days, when he's struggling with a deadly disease. © Twitter Here are some lesser known facts about him, so you can brush up on history's most iconic band, before you go watch the film, which will be out soon, in theatres near you! (1) He Had An Indian Connect As I've already given you spoilers, Freddie Mercury aka Farrokh Bulsara had his roots firmly in India, before he became Britain's legendary rock star. His grandparents were from a town in Gujrat called Bulsar, which is where his last name is taken from. He was sent to St. Peter's boarding school in Panchgani, at the age of 8, where he got his nickname 'Freddie'. He also formed a band back in school with 4 bandmates and he named it 'The Hectics', which became the unofficial school band. He learnt piano in school and was a gifted all-rounder. The quiet-yet talented Mercury received the junior all-rounder trophy when he was just 12! © Freddie Mercury Biography (2) His Voice Was A Record Breaker Freddie's voice was phenomenally different! He had an extraordinary vocal range of nearly 5 octaves, as good as any opera singer and he had a baritone which sang as a tenor, making his voice stand out from the crowd! When some scientists did research on his voice, they figured he had a unique vibrato. His vibrato was actually higher than an opera singer's vibrato. © Twitter (3) He DID Have A GF He was in a long-term relationship in the 70s with his then-girlfriend Mary Austin, who later became his best friend. While with Mary, Freddie used to have *** with other men. When he confessed that he might be bisexual to her, she strongly claimed that he was purely gay! That was the first time Mercury admitted to his sexuality and never hid it from anyone. "The Love of My Life." "All my lovers asked me why they couldn't replace Mary, but it's simply impossible," - Freddie Mercury Before passing away, he left his London mansion and most of his fortune in her name. © Twitter (4) He Was An Artist Too He was an awesome graphic designer and got his degree from Ealing Art College. He, in fact, designed Queen's official logo too. Oh, and he also named the band! "The concept of Queen is to be regal and majestic. We want to be dandy. We want to shock and be outrageous" - Freddie Mercury © Twitter (5) He Snuck Princess Diana Out Yep, you read that right! She was one of the most famous women in the world and she went through great lengths to keep her identity anonymous! So, one night Freddie made her disguise as a 'male model' and took her to a bar in South London and she chilled with him and Kenny Everett, without being recognised, the entire night. Man, what a time to be alive! © Twitter (6) He Was A Party Animal Freddie was known to hit every party in town and get wasted to see the sunrise. You'd often see him party with the best of celebrities in various party zones in London. "Freddie Mercury could out-party me, which is saying something. We'd be up for nights, sitting there till 11 in the morning, still flying high" - Elton John © Twitter (7) He Wrote His No.1 Hit In A Bathtub Please tell me you've heard 'Crazy 'lil Thing Called Love'? The no.1 hit single came to him while he was bathing, in a bathtub in a hotel in Germany and the song came to him in 5 minutes. It was Queen's first no. 1 hit single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. © Pintrest (8) The Famous Song 'Under Pressure' Happened Spontaneously Even if you haven't heard 'Under Pressure' I am sure you've heard 'Ice Ice Baby', written by the American rapper- Vanilla Ice, which was based on the same bassline as Under Pressure. The song came through an impromptu jam between Mercury and David Bowie, and it was a no.1 hit in 1981. © Twitter (9) The Bottomless Mic Became His Trademark At one concert, earlier on into Queen's concert career, he accidentally broke the mic stand on stage and instead of swapping it for a new one, he performed with a bottomless mic, throughout. Later on, he used bottomless mic stands for all his concerts. © Pintrest (10) He Was A Cat-Man I don't mean his secret identity FYI. I mean he loved cats and for a while, he had all of 10 cats! In fact, his favourite was named Delilah and she inspired him to write a song about her (also one of my fav's) in the album Innuendo, the lyrics to which went something like this - "You make me so very happy / When you cuddle up and go to sleep beside me / And then you make me slightly mad / When you pee all over my Chippendale Suite." © Pintrest (11) He Kept The Band Together Queen came very close to breaking up in the 70s when they literally disagreed upon anything and everything. But most band members banked on him for his diplomatic skills and peacemaking capabilities and hence the band actually never broke up, ever. © Twitter (12) He Died Of AIDS Freddie died of severe pneumonia which was induced by AIDS. He was suffering from AIDS since a while and he'd managed to keep it a secret from the world. The only person who knew was Mary Austin. He died a day after he declared he had AIDS and he gave Mary the responsibility of burying his ashes without revealing where she'd bury them. © Twitter Not just the music and entertainment industry in the west, but people in India mourned the greatest rock star's demise. Earlier this year, we had Ranveer Singh gallivanting in Switzerland, donning a complete Freddie Mercury get-up on the streets of Montreux, dancing his heart out to 'I want to break free', in front of Freddie Mercury's statue, built there. Freddie Mercury's legacy will forever stay amidst us and never cease to exist. We still sing like wounded banshee's to Queen's famous- 'Bohemian Rhapsody' and never tire ourselves with the higher pitches and staccato that the song is comprised of! Here's hoping the movie does justice to his life and Queen's musical career. For now, revel in these facts and plug in some Queen to take your mind off the dreary week.
  23. The rumours of rap hero Drake dating Bollywood actress Athiya Shetty have been doing the rounds for quite a while now. He has been following her on Instagram for a while now and never shies away from commenting on her pictures as well. When his super hit 'Kiki Do You Love Me' became a chart buster, it was also hinted by many that maybe Athiya was his 'Kiki'. So while there has been no pictures of the two secretly meeting anywhere or any proof of them dating, the 'Passionfruit' singer made his affection for her quite clear when she recently celebrated her 26th birthday. Drake might be miles away but his gift for Athiya was special beyond any materialistic gestures. He claimed that he watched her recent movie 'Mubarakan'3 times on tour for her birthday!. View this post on Instagram This one was extra special and happy indeed. Thank you for all the love, wishes, and blessings. I truly feel so tremendously grateful and special. â¨ðð±ððð¼ ð¦ To my main people, I love you. You know who you are. PS: 26, be kind ð¤ð»ð¬ A post shared by Athiya Shetty (@athiyashetty) on Nov 5, 2018 at 7:47am PST Even if they ain't dating, isn't that too kind of him? 'Mubarakan' didn't fare too well at the box office but was still a family entertainer movie. Even though this should be a better gift for Arjun Kapoor since he was the lead, it still counts as a wonderful gesture, even if he is just a friend. Well, let's hope if something brews between them, we get to hear from Drake in his next album maybe?
